Was willing to help if asked.
Great internet class...easy A
Did not enjoy her class or method of teaching. She is very close-minded.
She was sooo bad! I hated coming to class. Everyday all she wanted to do was go over articles of speeches and have groups talk about them, then when it came to the test you didn't know anything unless you read your book before. Plan to do a lot of reading because that is the only way you will get anything out of it, or to a least pass.
Took this as a distance learning course and she disabled the ability for the students to email her. I emailed her district email and she never answered. Haven't heard much better about her face to face classes. Note that she has strange and differing due dates for assignments as well.
I hated this class. She was confusing. You never really knew exactly what she was looking for. She did give a good review for each of her tests though, I will give her that. She has a great personality, but I just couldn't get into the subject matter. Aparently neither did most of my class. If you like history, she's for you. If not, avoid it.
horrid.
Online class assignments and tests are very easy. Extra credit assignments are not needed nor are they offered.
Means well, but she demands more than any of my other proffesors.
I can't understand her lectures it seems like English is her seconde language (which it probably is). She seems very closed minded and we spend most of our class time doing period projects that have nothing to do with the tests and she just can't seem to keep her political agenda out of the lectures. She does have great study guids though.
She contradicts what she says and doesn't know what she wants. she basically only wants to hear what she wants. She was very rude and never explained her assignments very well. She doesn't give curves or very much extra credit. She only had 3 test including the final. Test are very hard and worth 60% of your grade. I didn't like her.
DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER!. It’s way too hard, the teacher is not clear explaining things, her exams are really difficult. You will have to learn things by yourself because what you learn inside the class is useless for the exams. We had a paper that was 20% and almost everybody got D. I liked the assignments and she is nice outside class.
WARNING! Prof. requires a lot of studying. Those willing, proceed with caution. She hightly recommends reading the book. Final exam review is overwhelming.
I took her for 1302. I didn't like history before I took her class, now I HATE it!! Her class made no sense. She lectured over things that had absolutly nothing to do with her tests. She made us read articles that meant nothing in hindsight. She has a love for the subject and that is obvious, but if you don't share that love, I'd take someone else.
Hardest B I have ever gotten. All my other classes were A's and much more easy. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!
she really sucks. go for ANYONE ELSE
Her online class is not too bad but you do have to read the book. Caution: Reading about history may actually be more boring than listening to a lecture about history. Prof. Sze does give a review sheet for the tests that is very helpful. You only have to write one paper and it is not too hard.
Looks like I'm one of the only, but I thought this class was easy. I took it online and as long as you can read you can get an A. She gives you a study guide to go along with the book and all you take are tests and discussions, no assignments. EASY
I have loved history my entire life...now...I despise it. Her topics in class are ABSOLUTELY not related to the tests and she gets excited when lexturing and jumps up and down...jeez
Horrible! Do NOT take her! Most of the time I have no clue what she is talking about. Her assignments are pointless and she doesn't know how to grade correctly!
I would reccomend snorting 8 gallons of tabasco before I would reccomend her class. Her lectures are obnoxious, noxious and incomprehensible and her tests have nothing to do with the obnoxious, noxious and incomprehensible lectures. DONT DO IT, YOU HAVE YOUR WHOLE LIFE AHEAD OF YOU! Her online classes sound alright though.
Least favorite professor since I started. She was sarcastic and rude!
DO NOT TAKE! When it comes down to teaching you the things you need to know to pass the class she blows. When anyone would ask her a question, she would tell us to look in the book. She wouldn't give us anything specific to study. Just a general area and we would have to learn everything in that area within less than a weeks notice before a test.
The only reason she's teaching history is to skew it into fitting her far-left agendas (this is coming from Liberal). Maybe actually knowing what your talking about should be a requirment for teaching in a collage.
I should have taken world history. Sze has no idea what she's talking about. Taking the online class, and no lectures are available unless you attend one of her classes on campus. Makes no sense that busy people trying to better themselves (hence taking online courses) should be punished.
Contrary to all the previous comments, I really like her! Maybe she didn't lecture on the things we read about, but the class was fun and interesting! And her study guides were PERFECT! If you read the required amount and followed the study guides, her class was easy! I really appreciated her study guides! Not on study guide=not on test!
i agree with everyone else. this prof is pretty bad. i sent her an e-mail once, trying to give her suggestions to better her course and the arrogance i got back was just too much for me. i would not recommend this so called teacher to anyone. i wonder if she won her professor title in a carnival lottery...
She does not have a clue what shes talking about, and half the time she isnt on topic...dont suggest her at all
I thought this was an easy class. Talking about abortions was a little unsettling, and she constantly said the wrong dates in lecture (during the Reconstruction, the 1970's were crazy!) But I had alot of fun in this class.
I took this as an online class. Worse decision ever! She sends you rude emails after you try extremely hard to answer the discussion question to the best of your ability. If you send her an email asking a simple question because your confused she will respond rudely and arrogantly. DO NOT TAKE HER she doesnt help you she makes you feel stupid!
This class is very difficult. She indicates the tests are not open book but you must have a PhD in History to be able to answer the questions on the exams. She sends rude e-mails after discussions are posted and it seems no one ever completes the discussions as she wanted. Don't take this teacher.
She gives you a make up exam option (at the end of the course) and it was literally 761 questions in a two hour time limit? that would be 6 questions every minute! I didnt know if that was some kind of crude joke or what? who could seriously do that...is extremely strict on grammar but she has grammar mistakes everywhere.HORRIBLE TEACHER!!FIRE HER
If you email her expect a week for a reply! If you want an easy A take Terry. But you will learn slot in Sze's class. So overall ok I would say
I had this teacher my first semester of college and she was rough!I will say that she enjoys what she teachs and trys to get you interested by watching small clips and by reading chapters and making outlines. Don't take her unless you are dying to learn history for fun or if you are a history major. She is very sweet though, but tough.

very tough. EVERYTHING is timed, from test to book reviews (thats just crazy)and reviews are given less than a week before and exam.
Not every good .....her tests make no sense and her reviews are even worse....DO NOT TAKE HER!!
Worst history teacher ever! Got stuck with her after my teacher was reassigned last minute. Lectures don't follow book and he lectures are crazy long. You must take notes but can't say they will help you at all. Her test make no sense. I Love history, but hated this class. There is no point in reading the book either casue she doesn't follow it.
Horrible teacher, goes on and on and on about abortion in one of the lectures that it started to get very offensive and unnecessary. Test are so off the wall that you can't keep, so are lectures and all papers, he paper guidelines don't make sense either. Went to tutoring and they didn't even understand what she wanted. Do NOT take her.
A really sweet teacher but a very hard class! Lectures are long but she also uses small clips in between. The reviews are very hard to learn from and the essays make no sense! She does do her best to make people pass by giving out extra credit and a makeup test.I'm sad to say this because you can tell she loves history and shes really nice.
Online. Bad: unorganized, often doesn't post assignments on time. Good: She's not strict on discussion content, as long as it meets word count requirement. Overall, she was okay, I would take her again.
hard. she does not reply to e-mails effeciently; test does not follow test review; would not reccomend her.
I took her online summer course of HIST1301. She was by far the most unhelpful instructor as far as online courses go. She did not like getting emails & responses were short & curt. The study guide was not specific. We used the textbook A LOT.
Horrible professor. Took online course and biggest mistake. Her class was my worst class ever and she was extremely hard. On first discussion post made me repost 3 times because was not happy with it, even though we moved on the dif post already. Failed test when read and have txtbk when taking test. High expectations of students.
Horrible Prof, Quizes were due before she went over the chapter!! If i wanted an online class with no teacher i would of signed up for one! She expects you to have read the chapter B4 class (no biggie) but she bases your quiz grades from what you learned yourself. And after you pass or fail your quiz, then she will teach you that chpt.
She is rude, her I hate Middle class white America POV was hammered in all semester. Her lectures have zero to do with the test. Her writing assignments...I think she may have failed writing classes. What she wanted not even the tutors could say.
Quite possibly the worst professor I've ever had. Her way of teaching is one sided. The way she handles race relations is ridiculous, she hammers this hate the white man lecture in you all semester and doesn't know when to stop. Tests have no material from class, she's hard to get a hold of and terrible at grading papers. Very contradicting grading
I don’t know where the negative comments are coming from… Sze is AWESOME. Interesting lectures, nice, helpful, wants you to succeed. I was an AP student in high school (not a very good one), and I was expecting to have a hard time with this class, but its easy and interesting if you pay attention. I’m definitely taking her 1302 next semester.
She is an excellent professor. The course is extremely thought provoking and interesting. Yes, a lot of stuff is timed, but that is for a reason. She is trying to make sure you actually learn something. The class was not difficult, but it also isn't a blow off. If you don't want to learn, find a professor that doesn't want to teach.
She was a really good professor! Knew her material, and what she was talking about. She was a fair grader. Really nice, and easyy class. Take the quizzes, will help a lot!!!! I really didn't use the book. Overall easy class! I would take her all over again!
Mrs. Sze was okay. Textbook was optional, and 90% of all grades are done through group work. Every 2 weeks is a new group and new assignment. Not difficult, but just a lot of work in small time frames. Must read 2 novels and turn in essays each within a 1.5-2 week period, which I didn't think was wise planning. Would not suggest taking her.
EVERYTHING IS GROUP WORK! The entire semester. She grades really tough, and her projects are not the easiest. The things she counts off for are ridiculous, and she is an attendance Nazi. She talks a lot, but mostly rambles. Will not take her again.
Very easy online class. You have to post twice a week, once answering the questions she asks and then you respond to someone else's post. You have to read, or at least skim, through part of the chapters in order to be able to answer some of the questions. Others are thought-provoking and require an opinion with proof to back it up.
Attendance is a grade. Her book essay criteria was very unclear. She is a very strict grader. The class layout is easy but novel essays and the essays on the test are the most difficult. If its not what she likes, your grade will show it.
Took the class online. Discussions are 20% of your grade, post your response and reply to another student response. 200 words minimum for each. Quiz every week. Must read book all questions are based on readings. If you don't answer your discussion correctly she does not give you points!? 2 book essay each 7% of your grade.
ALL of the multiple choice answers on the tests come from the chapter quizzes. Just write down the questions and answers after the quiz, study them, and you will pass. The essay answers better be on point, or she will take off points. She doesn't explain why she marks them off. Two novels to read and you have to answer 4-7 short answer questions.
Lots of extra credit things you can do (small projects, or just signing up for next semester classes). Take notes in class & do the quizzes (you get 2 chances per quiz). Test questions are straight from the quiz. First two tests have essay portions as well. Required reading of 2 novels and essayquestions over it. Attendance is a grade.
She is a great teacher, she gives you most questions on the test (the questions are from the quizzes she gives). She also gives you what the essay question a few days before the test. I would highly recommend taking her for History 1301.
Her class is pretty easy if you take her quizzes. I highly recommend you take the quizzes because it will help you prepare for her tests. She gives a lot of extra credit which can really boosts your grade up. Reading the books are an essential part of this course because it is worth 10% of your grade. I would definitely take her for 1302
Class is average, just take the online quizzes and REMEMBER them. Also, prepare for the essay parts of the test(s), she does give extra credit. Gives good lectures, take notes and read. You should do fine.
Discussion questions every week, make up 20% of the final grade. Her questions are very vague so provide lots of detail. Writing assignments are vague as well. Quizzes are really easy. Offers extra credit which can make up 7.5% of final grade.
I took Prof Sze both in person and online. I figured online would be much better since I wouldn't hear her lectures. Instead, it's much more confusing. She's not specific when asking for things, the takes off points when you don't have exactly what she wants. When asking for feedback on things, she is slow to respond. Xtra credit&quizzes help a lot
Absolutely terrible, nearly went forward with a withdrawal.
Tests are not particularly hard. Take ALL the quizzes TWICE and use them to study. She will go over the essay in class and guide you trough it. Reading the textbook is helpful for essays. It is hard to do above average when it comes to test essays or reading assignments. Do not miss class, my B+ grade came from this.
I actually like her. she was a good professor! The quizzes you take online are so easy and then the tests come straight from the questions off the quizzes! So just study those and you'll do fine.
I took this class in 5 weeks online. Professor gave a study guide for the tests that were so easy to follow and very helpful! Not overwhelming at all!
Weekly discussions, just summarize the chapter in the book you are studying that week. You have to reply to someone's discussion post. The quizzes for the class can be found online. Super easy class. Takes about 2 hours each week to complete the discussions and quizzes. I used the book for the discussions but I'm sure Google could work just as well
Class lectures give you just about all you need to know for the week, but for the test you'll want to brush up on the details. Reading matter in this class, I found that when I didn't read my grade would show it. If you show up and read the chapters you'll do fine. She offers lots of extra credit so there is no need to stress. Taking her again!
I love Professor Sze! She is an expert in history! Always lets you know important points and not wasting time with irrelevant facts. Her lectures incorporate videos, excellent notes and an entertaining presentation on her part! She is really smart and I like her a lot!
She was amazing and made it fun to come to class. I'm not much of a history person, but I thoroughly enjoyed attending her lectures and having her as a teacher.
Professor Sze is a great professor, she always finds a way to make the class fun! Her tests are not that hard as long as you study and read your book. Will for sure take her again!!
I took this professor online during the summer I will say that the course is extremely easy and all test and exams are on quizlet. However when it comes down to the discussion scores received it is never clear as to why you failed to get all points offered since the feedback is generic. Overall I would take her again due to it being an easy A
The professor was not clear about what she wanted with discussion posts. No one in my discussion group ever got over a 75% on an initial post but luckily secondary responses were just based on completion. Outside of discussions, there is one essay over a book, quizzes, and tests. No homework, so no small grades to help you out.
Sze is one of the better history professors in Lone Star College. She explains the material well and keeps it straight to the point. She really grades tough though and you do multiple essays on books which is not a very good combination. If you complete the material, chances are, you'll pass the class. It just won't look good on your GPA.
Very unclear about her test, especially the essay parts. Almost feels like an English class. Two test have an essay that she is very unclear about what she wants and two book essays that is unclear untill the last one. Tough grader, no feedback on papers unless you can make an appointment . Does give a make up exam to replace test exam.
Her essay criteria is ill-defined and led to poor grading on one of my papers, thankfully she was very accessible outside of class and allowed for my essay to be regraded. Her teaching style is rather difficult to enjoy as it feels mildly elementary, not what I expected from a college class. Her tests are easy if you take all the quizzes.
Professor Sze is a Professor I can and cant describe , however I will say she is very tough on grading. This was a online course which consisted of weekly discussions (300 characters), 1 reply to classmate, 1 quiz every week, 2 exams. I had a few failing grades in the beginning and 5 passing including the final and she still failed me .
Weekly quizzes, weekly discussions, 1 midterm exam, 1 exam at the end of the class but it is not accumulative. I really liked that she always has a current event question to answer in the discussion relating to what chapter we were in. Literally the only negative is that shes a little unclear in her expectations. She gives extra credit though!
class is pretty easy if you do the work. She requires to do discussion, which are stupid because she doesn't care about anyone option but hers. I had all the right info and she still failed me for my discussions. Quizzes are just like the test so if you study quiz you'll pass the exams.
I am currently in this class and I have to say that the bad reviews are very accurate. Her discussions have like 10 directions, making them almost impossible to answer correctly. She does not give perfect scores so do not expect that. If you ask her a question, she does NOT help you at all. She is not recommend, run.
Do not take her class. She is very unclear in what she wants. Her opinion is obviously the only one that matters. I heard she was vengeful so I do not feel like I can stand up for myself until the class is fully over. Do not take her, she is a terrible professor that does NOT care.
She is tough when grading the weekly discussion. You need to actually read the book and try very hard in the discussions. However, you have quizzes and test that will help get your grade up.
Not to bad of a class, I took her during the summer 5 week course 5 exams 5 discussions and one book quiz as well. Exams pretty easy if you know your stuff. Discussions she expects A LOT of detail so be careful how you answer min. of 300 words for chapter questions and 100 for current event. I ended up passing with a 85 which was to my surprise
I took this class over the summer as a 6 week minimester. There are a total of 5 tests including the final which isn't really a final because it's weighted the same as the regular tests. The tests were online and you can find literally ALL the answers on quizlet. I'm not sure if it's the same with classes during regular semesters but it's an easy A
Multiple choice test portion was incredibly easy. Same questions on the test that were on the quizzes. Essay portion was graded extremely hard though. You had to know what you were talking about and give exactly what she wanted. Quizzes were once a week always due on a Monday. Caring and respectful and awesome lectures.
Professor Sze is extremely lecture heavy. She reads from powerpoints and rushes thru them. The entire class is her nonstop talking. Quizzes and Tests have topics that were never covered. She does offer extra credit but only 10% of your final average. She also assigns 2 books to read with short-answer quizzes. Don't take her.
Lectures often but it's really helpful and prepares you for tests, gives study guides, only a few grades and some essays during the test, but they are really easy and she gives clear rubrics and study guides and everything. Really nice and helpful and caring, and lets you send your essay to her to review before she grades. Definitely take her!!
