Liz is great, I really loved having her. She makes you do small things every week, but their easy and make up the largest percent of your grade. Do those and you'll be in good shape. Tests aren't too bad, but their mostly essay so know your stuff. Read the book. Don't be afraid to ask questions, Liz is quite helpful. We have mucho fun in class. :-)
Liz is an awesome teacher you can ask her about anything and she will go into great detail. She can tell automatically when yo don't understand something. Homework isn't bad at all just make sure that you read. Test are on the hard side..overall AWESOME! :-)
Liz is a great teacher and is very helpful. You have two homework assignments a week, but they are easy, just a little time consuming. In her class i learned alot and recommend here to anyone who has to take this class. The exams are allright, just know your stuff and youll do great.
She is the WORST teacher that I ever had!! If you arent the smartest person in the class but, you try to speak up in class she makes you feel stupid. But, if you are a good looking guy around the age of 26, you should take her class because, I'm sure she will give you a good grade in her class. Again, she is the WORST teacher EVER!!
I absolutely loved Liz. Her class was interesting, fun, and hard. I don't want an easy out for any of my classes. She makes you work for your grade; that's the way it should be. She has a wonderful demeanor and really likes class participation. If you have a good sense of humor, but still do the work, you'll be home-free.
she makes you work for your grade! but its a really great class shes very helpful and a sweet lady
Didn't cover material I thought the course was about
I hate anything political and she made the class awesome. I learned so much. I would prefer her over all other teachers.
Nice enough lady, but I didn't really care too much for the class. Not incredibly hard, but more work than most 3 credit classes. Nice sense of humor.
In this class you really don't have much homework, but the tests are very hard. Almost all essay. She will explain anything to you and she is usually available after class. SHe really loves what she teaches, and teaches it well. I don't like politics, so any political class sucks to me, but she is a great teacher.
Liz was a GREAT instructor. I HATED politics with a passion before this class. The exams are quite tough but, as long as you study your notes and do the assignments pertaining to the textbook you'll be fine. She definately shows you what the Govt. doesn't do for you and why you really should participate. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
WOW! what an amazing class! By far the best teacher I have ever had at Delta. She is awesome! You will walk away with so much knowledge about Politics. Great interesting lectures. She is one of those teachers that will keep you till the last minute, but you won't be bored! Highly recommend.
She is a very good teacher as long as you do your work it is a breeze.
Not Fun...
Nice teacher, but she's a speed talker, and she repeats the same things over and over. Hard class! You have to read 4 books, and write a paper on 3 newspaper articles every week-on top of writing other papers for her class. Not a easy grade. be prepared to work and read hard.
I have only been in this class for a week or so but so far i like it. Professor Ullrich seems to be very nice, but you can tell shes not one to take any ones crap.Just do the work and show up for class and youll be fine. I really enjoy her class because all of her lectures are full of energy, it really gets your attention.Over all a great professor
She has way to many assignments and it is really stressful. Also, if your not the smartest person she will dumb you down and make you feel little. Honestly, i wouldnt have taken her if i would have known this prior.
Liz a great teacher. She's a tough grader and gives out a good amount of homework but this is college, what else do you expect. She's very approachable and she is what makes the class interesting. One of the best I've had.
Tons of homework, min. 12 page hand written essay tests. She grades way to harshly but offers no help.
really hard for the first couple of weeks, but gets easier once you get used to what she expects of you....she is very willing to help if you're confused...nice lady...good teacher, but you have to do your work....tests are hard, but she gives you every single questing (all essay) before hand so if you prepare you'll ace them with no problem
Liz will keep you engaged, for Pol/Sci teachers she wont press her opinions on you as much as others, I disagree with her "opinions" (election 08) sometimes but she lets us keep her "honest." that is awesome i want to discuss politics not be pushed one way or the other! Tests are hard, 1 essay is 1/3 of test, but other stuff will balance examgrade
3 credit class but requires the most work i have done. i've had it for like 2 weeks and it sucks. she quizzes you on the reading before she teaches you and assigns hard papers on subjects i have never heard of. Ex: Is Preemptive War an unacceptable doctrine? I just warn you to not take her. I read previous comments and No. She's bad.
Secondly, I'm taking her online class because I don't have the time to drive to the main campus. The assignments, which are 3 current events, a 2 page paper, and a 250 word answer to a question are all due on Friday. The earliest the week's readings have been on the site is Tuesday night. This week (Wednesday now) nothing has been posted yet.
This class isn't that hard. I am taking the online class. My problem is, SHE DOES NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS! I have emailed her several times where I have gotten no response at all. She takes at least 3 weeks to give you a grade, and very vague comments about your work. She takes a million years to open discussion boards. Don't take her class.
Liz is a good professor, but don't take her class unless you want to be challenged. The assignments can be excessive especially if you don't have much interest in politics. Its not a very hard class, but understand the tests are essay format. That means you have to write 2-3 page answers for EACH question. I got an A, but I SLAVED for it!
This prof is very difficult. She expects you to work like a rented horse. This class was three credits, however consumed most of my week. She is very opinionated and will defend it.
Liz knows politics! TAKE notes and go over review sheets, in order to pass the exams. She is a good professor but expects a little more from you than most. This is a class that defines college material.
awsome
This was a true definition of a college course! At first I thought the class was going to be too much, but it really challenged me & I learned soo much! Keep all your quizes because all of the questions will be on the exams. It may seem like alot at first, but once you get the hang of what she expects you should do fine. Plus she's a great teacher.
Knows a lot about the subject. Might have did better if I wasn't working 40 hours a week with 14 credits. Didn't really like that class though although I probably wouldn't like any political science class. Group project is required which I hated. Overall, good teacher.
BEST teacher ever very smart has an answer for everything most deff a liberal but allows you to understand both sides of an argument very patient lady. Great person even better teacher.I'm 20 years old and one of the overall best teachers I've ever had!!
She is very nice person and great teacher. Very smart and very sweet too. I find her very helpful. I hate attending group discussion but she understood since i am international student. I am very impressed by her. I did good in her class and its all because of her and my hard work. love her.
Awesome and enlightening teacher, alot of homework but you will apreciate it and respect her for it in the end
Liz is the best teacher I have had at Delta. Anybody who disagrees is just lazy and doesn't understand that college is supposed to challenge you and make you grow. Also, to the person that claims she is a liberal, I'd disagree. She does a great job not shoving her beliefs down your throat. She truly cares and wants students to learn.
Worst professor I've had to date. She makes you read a book and take quizes over each chapter every week. Everyone in class gave up even reading it because the questions she comes up with arent covered well. Her exams are tough, and her grading on assignments is even tougher. I reccomend taking this class with any professor than Liz.
The class is interesting, but totally overwhelming. Tough Exams!!
SO HARD! This class was a ridiculous amount of work. The most I have ever had by far in any college class. Don't recommend unless you have a lot of time on your hands to do homework, cause you will need it. Two quizzes and two two-page papers due every week. She knows her stuff though.
Liz is an amazing teacher. I hate politics with a passion and thought i was going to have crap shoved at me. Instead she made us look at our own veiws as compared to other politicians and theorists and truly develop them. She is not pushy and yes there is alot of work but it is all crystal clear in the syllabus. I would recommend her to anyone.
Liz is great! She explains all the material and everyting she puts on the exam is in a review sheet. There is a lot of work but well worth it. For the people that think her class is hard probably didn't pay attention, follow her instruction sheets, or study the review sheet before the exam. Everything is laid out for you and covered in depth.
One of the worst proff's i ever had. She had insane amounts of work, that couldn't be completed in the time given. She didn't explain things well at all. Group project is worth a lot of your grade, and she gives terrible directions on how to do it. Don't take her if you have any other choice.
I had no interest in Politics at all, was dreading the class, Liz totally changed my thought process! Informative, Intersting, Highly Recommend!!!! World Politics is well worth the work and the experience!
Currently have her for World Politics. It's a tough class with lots of hmwk. She's a great teacher who is highly informed & lets you know the 1st day of class what is expected of you. This is college, we are here to learn. I wish I had known about her sooner, I hope SVSU has professors that teach like her, rather than let you slide by like most.
I was never interested in World Politics before this class, yes it is ALOT of work, yes she expects alot of us, THIS IS COLLEGE PEOPLE! If you dont understand something ASK! Kind, caring and excellent teacher! Your going to work at this class, but it is well worth it!
If you're determined and act like a college student you will get an A. She was a good teacher. Lots of homework, but hey, why are you here? I learned alot, as always, from the overloaded work.
way to much homework, i spent too many long nights to do her homework for the next class and i was glad to get out cause i found i was sleep deprived and stressed, this didnt include other class homework. teaching style not good and i would never recommend this proffesor to anyone that i know or a close friend.
Delta College is so lucky to have Liz as a prof. I have taken 3 of her classes and not only is she interesting, she will make you understand politics. There is a lot of work to put into the class, but it is well worth it. Everything is easy to do and understand if you listen and follow directions.
This class was hard! I do not recommend this class there is way too much homework yes this is college but unless you are planning on getting your masters degree in political science it is just not worth it well wait I would recommend this class if you dont work, dont have a family and aren't taking any other classes then maybe you could keep up
Liz is the best lecturing professor I have ever had. She puts love and passion into her teaching and her lectures are crystal clear. Yes, she does assign homework everyweek, but in her world she wants her students to be the best they can be and she makes you want to be the best you can be. She is extremely helpful and I highly recommend her!
You learn a lot from her but the amount of homework is ridiculous. Do not take her if you are taking other classes as well b/c all your time will be spent on her work. Test are extremely hard and her grading is hard as well. You have reading and two papers to complete each week along with quizzes and test. Doesnt take excuses
Lots of homework, the other reviews don't lie. But it's really not all that "hard". One 1-page paper and a 2-page paper a week is super easy. One of them is opinion fluff. She gives study guides with exact questions on exams. Piece'o'cake, and this is my second class with her.
Liz is a good teacher she just gives ungodly amounts of busy work that doesn't even relate to class. DO NOT take her if you have any other classes because all of you time will be used to do her homework, although she will help you and responses to email quickly. DO NOT take her unless your planning for grad school in political science.
She's a great teacher when it comes to teaching the subject, but if you aren't planning on majoring in political science its overwhelming. 2 papers a week to write, but there not super difficult. so overall I think she's a great teacher, but for a certain kind of student.
She teaches her students to be informed voters, not just to parrot back the information for a grade. The amount of homework was huge, and if you miss a quiz or test it can't be made up. But, this is college. The extra credit opportunities were cool, if the student actually is interested in applying what the class teaches.
She gives a lot of the same work each week. It gets pretty repetitive, but it's not hard work, just time consuming. There are two quizes each week: a reading quiz and a map quiz. The map quizes are easy, the reading quizes are hard. As long as you study hard for exams and do your work, you'll do well. I really enjoyed her lecture, very interesting.
.... not good
This is a hard class and she`ll tell you that at the begining. Expect to read a lot. She educates you about politics making you interested. She`s a cool teacher, really sweet, and funny. THIS IS NOT A CLASS FOR SLACKERS! However benificial:)
Currently taking the course. There is a "lot" of work (in comparison with other Delta courses I've taken), but it's easy to get into the swing of things, unless you're lazy. She is absolutely full of knowledge! It's amazing. I've never been interested in politics, but I've learned so much! I'm walking away feeling more educated after each class.
Difficult class and she cares very little for other people's opinions.
Liz gives INSANE amounts of work! I am a serious student with an excellent GPA and I found her workload to be very overwhelming. Her exams require an intense amount of studying and are quite difficult. She is a nice person and very passionate about teaching but I do not recommend her unless you're going into P. Science. Seriously, don't.
This is NOT an easy class. I have always been a part time student with a 3.93 GPA and I had to drop this class because all of the homework she assigned didn't leave any time for other classes, and I only had one other class! Lots of reading, lots of work, but the information is good. Think before registering. Really nice professor though.
In my experience, Liz is the only professor at Delta who actually treats her class as if it were a college course. Her workload is definitely heavy compared to the other professors at Delta, but this is college, that shouldn't surprise you. Her class is amazing, well taught, thought provoking, and sometimes life changing. Lots of writing + reading.
I love politics, and she is a nice lady. Interesting lectures. I have a 3.93 GPA and I am in the honors program. I work full-time and I am taking 15 credits. NOT lazy. The amount of work she gives is crazy, though, and some of the concepts are hard. Do not take if you have other classes and work. I am worried about my grade!
She's an amazing professor. Completley changed my views into the world of politics. She was caring yet disciploned and very passionate and knowledgable on the subject. One Smart Cookie. Loved her class , she made you apply yourself! Its college, I welcomed her approach to pushinga person past comfortability.
Liz is a great lecturer. She's terrifically intelligent and takes the subject matter seriously. Truthfully she belongs at a UofM or Harvard- accordingly, the workload can be rigorous, but the potential for growth is as great as the effort you're willing to put forward. If you're at college for the knowledge best take her.
LIZ IS AMAZINGLY SMART. I ENJOYED EVERY CLASS MEETING. SHE LIKES TO GIVE A HUGE AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK BUT BELIEVE ME IT IS WORTH IT. VERY SMART AND HELPFUL TEACHER. HIGHLY RECOMMAND HER
She is nice, DO NOT TAKE IF NOT A POLI SCI MAJOR!!, and do NOT take this class if you do not want to be challenged to the absolute limit. I did more writing for this class than for my honors comp class. Most of tests is short answer and essay. Map quizzes and book quizzes every week. This class will take a lot of time.
i had absolutely no interest in this class, i took it because it was required for me to graduate. the material got more interesting as we got further into the semester. although the material was difficult for me, she held my attention very well. i consistently found myself very into what we were talking about.
I had no interest in politics before this class, but now I actually know what's going on in the world! Liz is probably the best professor I've ever had. It is a lot of work, but it's a college class. The work isn't too difficult, it's more about completing it. Definitely recommend if you're looking to grow as a student and person!
Liz definitely knows her stuff! Be prepared, the workload is enormous! 2 Papers and a Quiz almost everyweek. Also-be prepared to not get homework back right away. Overall, it is a good class, just don't take this class if you already have a full load!
Liz is a wonderul professor, extremely smart, and very helpful. Yes she gives out a lot of work, but this is college, so she treats it like a college course. I'm not a poli sci major but I still really enjoyed this class. It made me grow as a student and made me much more aware of international relations.
Workload is a little too much. I had to write 2 to 3 papers a week on top of all my other assignments from my other classes. Very knowledgeable about the subject. She isn't bias about politics either so that makes the subject a little more easier to learn.
Had two papers to do a week, not particularly overwhelming in my case. She values input in class conversations. Quiz's suck but thats about it.
Liz is probably one of the smartest people I've ever met. Her lectures in class are more like class discussions. She knows exactly what she's talking about, and her discussions are super engaging. The class is super interesting and fun, but there is a lot of writing. I would say that the work is worth it though.
After a while the workload just became repetitive and no big deal. She definitely knows what she is talking about and makes things clear to understand. 3 exams and they are not cumulative, but are very difficult if you didn't study or take notes. She gives a study guide with questions that helps immensely. I really liked her personality.
She didn't care about students who struggled and never answered the questions asked by students but just changed the subject.
You better be read to read for her class. You do very long reading out of class. I like the way she grades because she always tells you what you did wrong and is a lenient grader also. its a lot but I like her class
I learned so much in this class. There is a lot of work involved and the tests are difficult if you don't study hard but she gives you a good study guide to make sure you do well on the test and she is always willing to help. She is really knowledgeable about what she teaches and if you really want to learn take her class.
Great professor but assigns a lot of work. I would take another one of her classes though
Two papers are assigned per week and be ready to read. But she's very intelligent and you will learn a lot guaranteed.
I would never recommend her. This was the craziest amount of readings and work! Exams were extremely long and VERY HARD GRADER. Everyone in class was exhausted and some even had to take days off of work.
She gives way too much homework. Quizes and exams are difficult.
She has too many papers. Expects you to have time for a major group project throughout the semester. The exams and quizes are very difficult. I do not recommend her at all.
This class is hard to do well in and the quizzes are impossible to get good grades on. She assigns two papers every week. Then on off weeks you have an exam you still have to work on a group project. I would not recommend this class. And if you miss more than one time she will drop you.
The first day when I walked into the classroom Liz handed us her syllabus; I was not thrilled. Her exams are very long and drawn out; I had a hard time trying to do two papers for her per week, a quiz per week, as well as reading 40 pages each from two books per week along with doing other homework for other classes. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!
Do not take this class. 2 quizzes every week. 3 assignments every week- and it only meets once a week so there is no excuse for so much work. Not to mention she was always at least 4 weeks behind on grading all the work she required. The exams are huge and near impossible- 7 essay questions!
Liz Ullrich is not an easy teacher, and she very clearly states that at the beginning of the semester. My class was full (25) and by the end of the third week, we were down by half (10). You have a minimum two papers a week and you must study for her tests. She's more than willing to work with students, but it's still a very challenging course.
Liz is one of the best professors I've ever had. She really knows her stuff and teaches politics effectively, without bias. The workload is heavy but she expects the same three assignments every week so it becomes routine and manageable. If you're interested in politics take this class. If not, you may not like it so much. It's worth the hard work!
This class is not easy. The quizzes are almost impossible to pass. The highest I have got is a 6 out of 10. You have at least one writing assignment a week and sometimes more. She is not an extra credit type of teacher. You have two textbooks, one is an easy read but very long and other is long and awful to read. Good luck
This class started out with 30 people and by the end of the semester only 12 where left. It was the hardest class I ever took. There were at least 3 papers due every week. I did end up passing with a B+, but failed other classes because I hard so much invested in this one.
Lots of papers and reading for homework, must use textbooks assigned and have the correct edition. Must be a good reader. If you struggle with reading and/or writing this will be a tough class. Does not explain the reading until after quiz and papers are turned in.
Liz is amazing! Her lectures are long and you really need to pay attention! There are 2 quizzes every week (one reading and one map) so make sure you do the reading! There is one paper due every class period and a journal entry as well. However it becomes routine and easy to balance with other classes. She is very intelligent and great to listen to
One of the hardest instructors I have had at Delta. She is all lecture, which can sometimes be okay, but not when you have the lecture on the topic AFTER you are quizzed on the topic. I did not benefit much from the class. I wouldn't recommend her class to anyone that is a full time student and works full time, because she expects way too much.
I had Elizabeth for a three hour long World Politics class. It was a grind, with a ton of work to be done outside of class. However, she knows her stuff and she keeps her lectures interesting with her likeable personality. You'll learn a ton from her, but you'll have to work hard.
For an intro level course, the work load was very heavy. Each week we had multiple papers due, a quiz, and a lecture. You'll get out of this class what you put into it. Liz is obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about politics, which made it easier to listen to her lectures. I learned a lot, but definitely had to work for it.
Very nice professor, and she was very helpful when asked questions. But we had tons of homework, including 2 papers due each week and reading over 100 pages in novels. If you like working extra hard to get a grade, I would recommend. But if you have a full time job, and three other classes to worry about then I wouldn't take her course.
Liz is hands down the best professor I've ever had. Her 3hr long class was primarily all lecture but I really learned so much! She does have a heavy workload but its justified if you're ready to learn. She is very helpful and knowledgeable. I had two other classes, a full time job, and an infant and still loved it, even with all the papers.
A lot of papers. Expect to write 2 papers every week and sometimes another on top of it. She explained the lectures very well. Tons of group work as well. A part of your final grade is because of a group project... So pick your group members wisely.
Liz gives lots of reading and writing assignments but she is an extremely knowledgable and caring person! She doesnt give pity points and makes you work, but shes more than willing to help you with anything you need! Ask her for clarification on the study guides and you will do great! I learned sooo much. You have to be good at listening though!
Overall I enjoyed her as a professor, just she gives a lot of work. Multiple papers within a week, every single week and exams were difficult. Dont take her if you dont expect to work for a high grade.
An abundance of homework every week with roughly 75 pages to read and write about per week
WAY too much to do weekly, especially when you factor in what you have to do with your other classes. I think this class could cut down with the work a bit, and still get students prepared. When you have to write about so much weekly, it becomes really discouraging .
I wouldn't recommend taking a course with Liz to my worst enemy. What she expects from people is borderline ridiculous. She assigns 75-100 pages of reading from a novel thats extremely bias every week, which you have to summarize every chapter. Then summarize news stories into 2 pages every week etc. Her bias shows and its not good.
Gives way to much homework every week and takes WEEKS to grade tests and homework!! Definitely do not recommend taking her class.
Liz does a good job of teaching about politics in the little time that she has. She could give less homework, but other than typing a lot of papers and reading 50 pages a week, I felt like it was still an eventful class and it did reach me alot about the political system and how our government works. you must take everything seriously to pass.
I honestly enjoyed having Liz as a professor, her classes were enjoyable for me. This was the hardest class I've taken in college, there are soooo many papers and so much reading. Don't fall behind with work like I did, she makes you work for your grade. It's so hard to catch back up once you've fallen behind. I learned a lot from the class.
2 quizzes and 2+ papers due per week. Expect a series of group projects with the same members. Tests are essay/short answer heavy, take good notes during the review; complete your study guide and send it to her for the feedback! Your strength is in your weekly papers, turn them in on time and dont skip class.
I was very skeptical of taking Liz's class, as it was my first semester of college and the reviews for her classes were very worrying. Be prepared to take VERY long written tests in the TC and for a group project throughout the year. There are multiple weekly assignments. I loved this class! I still remember what I learned over a year later.
I took World Politics online with her. Her pre-recorded lectures included lots of interesting and important material, but I definitely would have rather met synchronously via zoom. I missed all the laughs we had when learning with her in an in person setting. You need excellent reading comprehension, listening, and writing skills for this class!
The quizzes are over 50-100 pages and 10 minutes to complete the 1o question quiz over so much content. The lectures and PowerPoint information is not given until after the week is over and everything is turned in. There is at least a 2-page paper due every week along with a quiz from 2 different books. Definitely do not recommend this class online
Overall, I think this class was very interesting. It was a lot of work and a lot of reading. The book was a very interesting read but not something I would have read on my own. I learned a lot of about politics that I did not know. Her lectures through her power point presentations were very knowledgeable.
Wasn't the best professor, but she definitely knows her stuff. She has good lectures, but there are a lot of papers, and she takes forever to grade everything. I never knew if I was doing well on the papers because it took her a month to grade just one. Also, be aware that she is more left-leaning, and she makes this known in her grading.
When you take exams, you are not graded on the questions on the exam. You are graded on what she talks about in the exam review. If she talks about something on the exam review and it's not on the exam, you are pretty much screwed. If the answer is not worded how she wants it, it is wrong. Her political ideology reflects on her grading.
She does a great job explaining each chapter you read. Its a well taught class as long as you listen to the PowerPoints and complete all the homework. You will not have an issue unless you dont do the work. Exams are long and take a lot of time but the PowerPoints reflect the questions that she would ask.
Excessive workload for a 3 credit class. Very little of the class invloves the American Goverment book assigned, the class mostly revolves a book from the widely discredited George Lakoff. Grading is very slow and often over a month behind. Weekly paper is a minimum of 2 pages but expect writing a 4-5 page paper weekly if you want to get and A.
Her Political Science class is known as the hardest class at Delta. I was told this by a Delta College Board of Trustee. Its a ton of work, but I managed while raising a newborn. I really enjoyed the class and reading Moral Politica, which is a high level reader book, I didnt know what some of the words meant and had to do some googling.
Whew! This class was by far the most difficult class I have ever taken at Delta College. She gives a ton of work and some very hard exams. The key is to listen to her PowerPoints that she gives over each chapter of the book. This was a online class with no set class time. She gave us a week to turn in assignments. Takes a while to grade papers
She is a very tough grader. One of the most difficult classes I have ever taken.
Professor Ullrich is not especially warm but I learned more from her than I learned in any other class at Delta College. She took time weekly to meet with me & answer my international relations questions. She referred me to an excellent program at Johns Hopkins University for non-governmental organization management. She knowns her stuff.
There is way too much work and reading that has to be done in such a short time frame. It's almost like two classes in one. A two-page paper was due every week except exam week but every question had to be an essay answer. There were four exams in total. She's a tough grader, and even if your answer is right, if it's not to her liking, it's wrong.
This class required 2 textbooks. Loads of reading per week and a page minimum for the paper due every week, however, she seems to expect an amount of information that would take up much more than 2 pages. This class took up so much of my time. Much better off taking a class like American Politics if possible.
Students are expected to undertake increased levels of reading and writing assignments in this course, as in any other college-level class. Professor Ullrich requires at least a two-page paper and a discussion board with two responses every week. The material wasn't difficult, nor was it tasking to write about. I enjoyed Professor Ullrich.
This class was a serious amount of work, but I do not regret taking it. I truly learned so much. I greatly appreciated her help when I had questions, and her lectures were very riveting. As long as you read the content, take notes, and give critical thought/thoughtful responses on your papers, you'll do great. Prof. Ullrich is a great instructor.
She says you have to write two-page papers every week but you will fail them if you do not write 5+ pages. If you have different political beliefs than her, she will degrade and disrespect your beliefs. She pushes her political beliefs onto you and told me multiple times my opinion was wrong. Do NOT recommend this class at all.
We are not even that far into the class and already I can tell this class is SO much work for a 100 level class. She starts off by saying, "I understand pretty much all of you are here because you have to be, because this is require for your course..." and proceeds to still give a ton of work. 2 books, a paper and a pointless study guide every week
Wouldn't call her Awful but this was not my best experience in a collage class. Tough grader is an understatement on how tough she grades. Requires you write a 2 page paper every week but if you don't write 6+ pages you'll notice in your scores. And her exams take 4+ hours. DO NOT TAKE THE ACCELERATED COURSE, you will not enjoy those 2 months
Don't take her online class unless you like writing lots of papers every single week. She takes 4-5 WEEKS to grade papers and exams and rushes through her office hours basically telling you "pay attention to the recorded lectures and to reread the chapters, oh and takes notes". And this class is REQUIRED to graduate. Horrible experience.
Elizabeth Ullrich is the worst professor I have ever had. I took her online and wrote several 10+ page papers a week along with wasting my time writing exam questions when only half of them were used. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU VALUE SANITY!!! It may be better in non-accelerated courses but I had the worst possible experience.
Don't take her online accelerated class unless you want your professor to say she understand we have to take her class and then proceeds to abuse that by piling on work. She says 2 page minimum but expect to write between 5-20. Also expect to rewrite said paper twice a week if you want an A. Just reduce the workload or grade reasonably!
This was a very good class.Yes, it was not easy, but Liz is very friendly, helpful, and is very good at teaching the material. It is difficult to do well on her exams if you do not reach out for help so do not make the same mistake I did. Overall a great class dispite my difficulties. Also be prepared to write a lot but it wasn't too bad.
Her exams are a joke, you have to write paragraphs for 20+ questions only for 10 of them to actually be used, it's a collosal waste of time. Don't even think about emailing her to ask about the material, she'll give you a snarky comment about how you can fail half the assignments and still pass. She is rude in her emails and piles on ton of work.
She was a nice person but not as a teacher she did try to help sometimes but her class is awful it is very test heavy a lot of discussion boards and papers over things that don't mean anything in the class i wouldn't recommend this class to anyone. Very stressful i'm taking it for the second time and i am still not going to be able to pass it.
I created an account just to review how I've never had a worse professor. I'm not even sure what my grade is because the midterm hasn't been graded, and it's a week before the class ends. Avoid at all costs
It covers a ton of material BUT she was more than willing to help me be successful. For an intro class, it was hard. Be prepared to put lots of time reading and writing. She gives the exam questions ahead of time, allows you to submit for feedback prior, and if you do that, you can pass with an A. Her expectations are high but manageable.
She grades weeks late, and when she says she wants a 2-3-page paper. She wants you to write 9 pages or more. If you disagree with her, that will impact your grade. Her lectures are long, and you have to write a lot for your exam question pages. Please do not take her.
Professor Ullrich's class is no walk in the park, but if you stay on top of the readings and put in the work, you can succeed. The exams are challenging but manageable, especially if you utilize Unstuck study for study prep. An overall rewarding experience for those willing to put in the effort.
It's a lot of reading and writing it's just complicated overall. And kinda overwhelming. It's not to bad but for me I just can't. Politics isn't my best subject and never will be but if you're good at politics then you probably can have a better chance than me.but some parts were interesting and engaging. But most of it was boring. Good luck!
So difficult for no reason, this my first starting college class and I thought maybe it will get easier. Nope! It's the same thing every week so boring and overwhelming amount of work and reading, writing. It shouldn't be this hard. I heard from other people she's very biased. And takes forever to grade. The way she grades is unbelievable. Strict!!
She did not follow her rubrics or instructions when grading assignments. She also did not post the lecture for that weeks reflection paper until the following week and so it was impossible to get good grades on them because you cannot tell the future. I think she is a horrible teacher and did not offer help when asked. I would not recommend.
Liz is the worst professor i have ever had, i say that with full honesty. Her “lectures” are boring and pointless, she gives the same repetitive homework every week which is reading 2-4 chapters of moral politics and writing a ridiculously in depth 5-10 pg essay and reading out of the textbook to complete a 30 question quiz. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
For a 100 level class, you'd think it was an honors class. Reading 2-3 chapters of one book each week and writing a paper on it (syllabus says a 2 page paper but by the time you get all your info in there to get the grade it ends up being 5-10 pages) and then reading one chapter out of another book (most chapters are 30+ pg long) and taking a quiz.
I'm currently in this class and regret not checking Rate My Professor. Despite working hard, I'll likely get a B or C. The professor is biased and offensive, grading is tough, and the class is unnecessarily hard. I can't retain any info. Microbiology and Anatomy were easier and more enjoyable. Do not take this class!
Week 1 set off tons of red flags. VERY politically biased & assigned VERY biased materials. I read the first week's reading & researched her. Found an interview that told me we had opposite views like I figured. She makes sure she finds out your beliefs. Wasn't willing to risk be penalized for not thinking the same & all evidence showed she would.
Most unprofessional prof. I've ever had! She will be biased in her political opinions, if she doesn't like your opinion she will take points. Multiple papers a week (15-30 pages!) and a paper on a news article that has to be within 6 months and from a select 6 websites, which 3 of them you have to pay for! Reads lectures like it inconveniences her.
I wrote a 9 page paper every week. She mumbled through her lectures. She took the whole class to grade anything. If you have different political views she will mark you down. The textbook for the 9 page papers is so heavily opinoniated. The other textbook is okay, but her tests are terribly written. I don't reccomend her for any class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She was terrible. Heavy and biased grading. If you are not a liberal be prepared to get a bad grade. The professor takes an insanely long time to send grades back and is an extremely harsh grader. You have to write a paper a week on top of other homework in the class. She was the worst college professor I have ever had.
This class was wayyyy more difficult than it needed to be. She assigned weekly papers and graded them extremely harshly, and didn't follow her rubric. She tended to be very biased as well. I would NOT recommend taking any of her classes.
Bruh. She grade too mfnn HARSHLY. I wrote like a million paragraphs just for a summary and because I didn't summarize what she wanted me too or missed one thing she would grade me an F. I would stay up all night just to receive F's from her and even when I would redo them I'd receive a bad grade. Do not take her class.
Liz doesn't allow early assignment submissions but often takes two weeks to return grades. She permits resubmissions, though her feedback is very critical. Tests are open book, and exams are essay-based with 20 prompts given a week in advance—10 chosen on test day. Although it's an online class, she requires two meetings. I DONT SUGGEST THIS CLASS
There's a paper and multiple homework assignments every week. There's 3 exams, and expect to write a paper for each question to not fail. It takes 4-5 weeks to get your grades back. She got mad at me for stating my opinion in a paper (which was in the instructions) saying I was too biased while being biased towards me.
She is a good professor, she gives clear homework and has good lectures that explain the topic well. She is very homework heavy, there is lots of reading, along with lots of writing on said reading. She's a tough grader as well on those papers, but she gives clear feedback as well.
The class was pretty hard, she is a tough grader, she does allow make up credit. Hard exams.
Weekly papers are lengthy; each chapter you read has its own essay, and you read several chapters every week often. She gives true grades instead of participation points on papers that do include your own opinion. How could you grade someone on their opinion? How could you give a poor grade and critique someone's opinion?
Doesn't grade until end of semester yet strict grader and late policy. Grades on bias. Very rude. Big ego.
