she is very clear about what will be on tests, speech topics are fairly simple and she is generous with her grading

Her instructions are very clear, tests are logical, assignments involved forethought and lots of group activity. Great class! Great teacher!!!

if you love publish speaking, if you HATE public speaking, Mrs. V makes you enoy it! She makes everyone comfortable and is always there to talk to whenever you need her! She is probably one of THE best teacher at NOVA and colleges in general! Take her!!

I took Ms. Vick's "public speaking" class based on her ratings from this site. I was not disappointed and am glad I have taken her class. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND signing up for any of her communications classes that she instructs. Plus, she's hot and a sight for sore eyes!

I got a B.. sooo close to an A. If you study the study guide you'll get an A; theyre REALLLYYYY helpful and you'll see them on the tests. She goes over whats important and doesnt BS the time. Easy i guess, fun, i recommend her.. just do the study guides for the A. No extra credit and 1 paper due.

Mrs. Vick is awesome! She's so cool and from all the ratings you can tell she's the teacher to take. She's also very generous too! Mrs. Vick has been supporting the Relay for life for the past two years through donation and helping the fight breast cancer; making the world a better place!

Proffessor Vick is a excellent teacher. Her class is fun and educational at the same time. She had us participate in a variety of fun in class activites that reinforced the class material. Most importantly, she is kind and supportive towards her students.

take her during summer.....u dont have to do that many assignments and its much easier...over all she is a very nice teacher and makes u feel very comfortable

Unbelivable. She's a teacher everybody loves. I don't know how she does it, but her class is absolutely great. If you like speech, even if you hate speech, Mrs. Vick is the one to take.

She is funny and very entertaining, has some power issues, but if you stay away from that she'll be very pleasent.

She is THE BEST TEACHER i ever took in my whole college year. I wish every teacher in this campus should be like her. She makes the class fun and interesting. She teaches you stuff that will help you in real life. TAke her if you like communication.

Speeches were scary, because i hate speaking to the class, but over all the class was fun, and interesting. i was required for me, but in the end im glad to take it. MS. VICK is off the hook, shes a great teacher, and an awesome person.

Fantastic teacher... At the begining of the semester I considered dropping this class... I'm glad I didn't I enjoyed it som much... I'm even considering taking more speech classes she made me feel comfortable... May come off a bit strong, but a great teacher, I enjoyed the class got an A!

hey u guys, i agree with every comment you hvae said here. this teacher is awasome she does come off as strict if you do the work and study u will not get less than an A. remember this is speech class dont be afraid to talk if your on the borderline of B or C she will defently bump it up if you talk to her . dont let me down go for the A.

One of the nicest teachers at Nova. I really like her grading system as well, not all the pressure is on the test. I recieved a B on the midterm and a C on the Final, and still got by with an A. As long as you go to class and do the other assignments(which are easy), you'll do fine.

I took her a few years ago and she is still one of my favorite teachers. She was AMAZING. As long as you do the work she will give you a good grade.

really nice lady, she has real world experience and is more interested in actually teaching you how to improve your life through practical communication skills than boring you with cliches. really creative with her activities, very understanding, be sure to talk to her if you are absent or need an extension, its hard to fail but i learned a lot.

Superb professor! If you don't understand, she'll make the time to break it down. Incredibly sweet woman who really takes the prize when it comes to teaching. Mrs. Vick is a cool teacher and she really understands the root of communication, and in turn teaches it well. Tests are hard if you don't study, but the assignments were easy. Group projects also fun! She's hot too! haha

Mrs. Vick is the nicest teacher you could ask for. If you come to class, you wont regret it. She cares about her students and will really work with you if you come to her. I had no interest in this class at all, but it turned out to be the only one I come to on a regular basis!

She is a demanding professor but is very helpfull,and understanding. If she figures out you really work hard on the course she will give you your A even if your average is less than an A. Take her and trust me if you just try a little you're gonna get an A, her main point in class is guys it's college you need to study.

Don't even think about taking another teacher! Best speech teacher anywhere! If you take business speech you meet once a week for a little over an hour. She has online assignments once a week, which are very easy. You just can't miss class. Every time you miss a class it is 10 points off. Tests are online and papers and projects are easy. Fun Class

Mrs. Vick is a wonderful teacher. You will learn a lot in her class. The SPD 227 class is a great opportunity to learn how to communicate at the work place and how to communicate to people in general. Besides, Mrs Vick is a great person, she'll help you if you need any advice.

I LOVED her class!! She makes her lectures easy and interesting to listen to. Her tests are straight from the book and she gives you a study guide. You'll have to do a short speech, a paper, and a group project. But she understands that not everyone is good at all of the above so she takes that into account when giving you a grade.

Shes very smart, caring, and lovable. she LITERALLY cares for all of her students. she loves what she does and very good at it. Her class is not only fun and interesting,you learn ALOT in only 16 weeks, it won't be boring i promise. I haven't had a teacher like her since 6th grade. Professor Vick is one of the best professors I have ever had! She enjoys what she does and has a great sense of humor which is always a great thing when listening to a "lecture." She's very understanding, I was put in a bad situation by my work towards the end of the semester and she worked with me. Given the opportunity I would take her again.

Couldn't ask for a better communications teacher. She is fun, down-to-earth, and easygoing, but takes the work very seriously- do NOT sign up for her class if you are expecting an easy A. As long as you are competent enough to do assignments correctly and on-time and show proper manners, you will love her and her class. Slackers, find someone else.

Good professor. Clear in instructing students and giving directions. I have to say this but she could be a whiner. A complete whiner. Sometimes at the smallest things she would nag about. In terms of easiness she is an easy grader and the tests are easy too, but you have to be there for every class and do every assignment on time.

class is easy if you come to class and take notes. only one speech. TAKE THE HYBRID COURSE because all of your tests are online and open book--it makes it impossible not to fail!

She is very kind and want's all of her students to do well. She will help you in any way possible and the tests are based on everything that is covered in class and homework. Highly recommended. I am now able to speak in front of a class without being nervous. If you do the homework and come to class paying attention you will have an easy A.

She is a wonderful teacher, and very helpful. I have had her for three classes now, and have walked away with learning so much. Professor Vick makes everything very simple and easy to understand. She also strives very hard to make sure everyone in her class succeeds.

She is easy but I found Mrs. Vick to be crabby, unprofessional, and somewhat annoying. If you take her you should get an A or at least a B but I will not take another class from her.

Mrs. Vick is Amazing!!! She is funny and vey down to earth. She helps you any way she can. You do have to do some reading and note taking on your own, but it is really easy. Attendance is a MUST, but you will want to come to her class because it is fun.

Loved Prof. Vick. She is very clear on her expectations and requirements so if you do what you're supposed to do, you'll do well in her class. Exams were based on the book - written by the text book authors - so were a bit more challenging than lecture info. But if you follow her study guidelines you should be fine. Exams are open book.

I love her. Her exam are open book but you have to read the book to answer it. Read the book. Easy A. She is not strick about your homework. But she tend to point the basic concept only..so you have to read the book to understand and get more details about it. That was the only thing I don't liked about her.

Great professor! Enjoyed her lectures, sense of humor and clear outline of what she expects from her students. Read the book and you should do well. On the other hand, did not care for her group projects, they are vast and require a lot of work.

I enjoyed taking classes with Prof. Vick as she is funny, understanding and very organized. She wants to see everybody succeed. All you need to do is keep up with the required assignments, show up to class, and read the book, as the tests come directly from it.

She is an AWESOME teacher. ALL of her tests are open book, but they are still pretty hard.. She relates the material to real life experiences which helps. You have about 5 or 6 total grades. Your final is a topic of your choice and you give a speech on it to the class. The other BIG grade is a group project. MAKE FRIENDS and choose members wisely!

Prof. Vick is the best of the best. Once you go into her class, you don’t want to miss it. She is passionate, helpful, and understanding. You will learn a lot and have fun at the same time. She wants all of her students to succeed. You will be glad that you signed up for her class.

Great professor. There are a few small assignments, a PowerPoint project, a 15-minute group presentation, and a final speech. She has three open book and open note tests. She gives out study guides as well. If you take the time to complete them in detail, receiving A's on the tests are pretty simple. She's a wonderful person and teacher. TAKE HER!

Professor Vick is, hands down, the best professor I ever had at NVCC. She obviously teaches wayyyy below her pay grade because she loves her work, and it comes across in every lecture. She allows notes for every speech and will work with students one-on-one should issues such as anxiety arise. Prof Vick is simply fantastic!

Professor Vick is really helpful when it comes to Intro to Communications!! My favorite thing about her class is all her tests are open-note and she really whips you into shape when it comes to working on your communication. As long as you attend class and take clear notes, you'll be fine.

she is a nice professor, understandable, but she gives hard exams I had her for CST 229 and the we had two exams and the exams are no so easy, you have to study a lot and write notes! I had 66 on both exams ;/ but other project brought my grade up, I have a B now in the class hopefully I'll get it up to an A.

Fantastic Teacher. Had her for Intro to Comm and Principles of Public Speaking simultaneously and she was awesome. She cracked jokes and was very lighthearted, yet still maintained a sincerity that showed she wanted you to learn. I like that in a professor. Read the text!! The tests are timed online and will be so much easier by simply reading.

ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY, she gives one free absence and after that she deducts points no matter the excuse. The tests are hard, the speeches are easy if you practice. Her lectures are helpful and intriguing. Loved this class and it was at 9:30 am! I recommend her without a doubt. She actually grades thoroughly and cares about her students success!

Professor Vick is the best professor ever!! Her class is so easygoing and relaxing, and she is so funny and entertaining! We did a group project movie on any topic we wanted and just had to speak in it! We had to give a super small "speech" for our final, but it was again, on any topic we wanted and we could read from our notecard! Take her class!

She's awesome. She's really laid back and entertaining and gives open note tests. However, as easy as the material seems when she's teaching it, you HAVE to study for an A. There's a group project & a speech and a few fun, mini, creative projects throughout the semester. You actually make friends in here. Would definitely take her again.

She has been one of the most helpful professors I've had, but she is not the easiest. It's not hard to get a good grade if you read the course material, go to each lecture AND participate, and study for tests. She makes lectures fun and does require public speaking and group projects.

If you really want to learn Public Speaking, this class is for you. She is very clear and passionate. She is also funny and makes class a lot more interesting. However, she is very straight forward and you might feel intimidated at first, but do not let that discourage you. She is really nice when you show interest. DO NOT MISS CLASS!

I took a hybrid course for Professional Business Communication with Professor Vick and I absolutely loved it. Came into class once a week, had a lecture, then got to work in groups with a ton of awesome people. She always looks nice and ready for class. The class isn't difficult as long as you show up and do the work. Participation is important!

TAKE HER!! You won't regret it. Amazing teacher, always there to help out her students understand the material, wants her students to pass the class. It's an easy course, just have to show up, pay attention, and do the work to receive an A. group projects, a speech, and small amount of homework.

Prof Vick really knows what she's talking about and her lectures are relatable and even entertaining sometimes. Do the study guides for the text book that she gives ahead of time, and then all your class notes will be already done before class. Having the study guides also makes the online tests much easier.

Professor Vick is hands down my favorite teacher I've had since Ive been in college. She's always giving extra credit points and we never had homework. Participation is key but its not a class that I dreaded going to. All tests are open note/ open book so use her study guides as a reference. easy grader, light hearted, funny teacher. Love her!!!

The group project and speech are the toughest assignments, other than that. Test answers are on Quizlet, don't need the book. Just show up and you'll be fine. Took "Hybrid" with her. Really leiant

This is an amazing professor. She has very few tests and all open note. She gives you a study guide at the start of the new unit which helps tremendously. There is a group project and a speech, but she grades easy on both. Her lectures are interesting and funny. Looks out for her students and gives extra credit when she can. HIGHLY recommend her!

Professor Vick was phenomenal. I took her class 6 weeks over the summer and she gave a thorough break down of all of the assignments and how everything was going to be graded throughout the semester. There were only three speeches (commemorative, informative, and persuasive) and two exams (review guides really help!). Definitely take her!

Professor Vick made CST fun, I'm not the type to stand up in front of the crowd and just talk, the atmosphere of the class was calm because of her! Easy class!

I took Hybrid with her and it was really fast-paced but effective. Lectures were both relatable and fun. There were easy homework assignments each week on Blackboard and tests were open-note on Blackboard. She makes sure you get enough preparation/guidance with the group presentations and informative speeches. She really cares about students too!

Professor Vick is a very considerate professor. She wants to help you and is always available for additional support when you need it. Very kind and willing to work with you if you really need help. I'm very anxious and she noticed this so she gave me lots of good advice and encouragement. One of the best professors at NOVA!

Although this Communications was a boring class, Professor Vick made it relatable to her audience. She frequently shared stories of her family and connected them to the class. There was 1 major speech (for our final), and 1 group assignment (which was fun). I would definately take her again!

This teacher made this class my favorite. You have to give a couple of speeches but the first ones she is an easy grader and gives loads of advice. Don't worry if you get anxious a boy started panicking in his speech and she helped him calm down and it didn't affect his score. Alo she gives study guides for the 2 tests and they are really easy

Prof vicks Lectures are so easy to follow and she is so nice and passionate! Shes also really funny and easily approachable. Theres a paper, group project, and the final exam is a speech. Also 3 tests. She helped the class become comfortable with each other and helped with levitating everyones speech anxiety! Easy A, Id definitely take her!

An amazing teacher, knows what she is talking about. Readings out of the textbook weekly/daily. Tests per every few units. Hands out study guides for chapters. 1 group project, and 1 speech during the semester. Overall show up and take notes per class, easy A or at least easy B.

If Prof. Vick could teach all of my classes, I would be in academic heaven. She lets you use study guides on all of the tests, always checks her email, and makes her students feel welcome. Her lectures are worthwhile and the assignments are not hard. I would take her class a thousand times over. Prof. Vick is supportive and wants us to succeed.

The only thing I found very frustating was that during the group activities, she pushes you to do what she likes, I felt like I had to control my inspiration and proactiveness bc it would always be talked down. Advice: Take the class, keep your mouth shut and nod to what she says (she has some good material), do the hw and thats that. Easy class.

Interesting class, I actually learned a lot! She is a wonderful professor and has a great teaching style, but you cannot slack off in this class and expect to succeed. It's also not a good idea to be absent in this class. Tests are pretty easy and straight to the point.

If you are someone who skips class regularly, don't enroll to her class. Otherwise, know your in for a easy A+. She explains the subject very clearly, people say she doesn't care for student, which is wrong. If you COMMUNICATE your situation she will understand. The syllabus is your best friend for a smooth ride.

My class was hybrid it was super easy and she was the best professor and caring of her students. It's really hard to get a letter grade below a 90% unless if you don't show up or care to do your work.

Professor is so sweet and caring. She always replies to emails as soon as she can. Her tests are usually common sense, but she provides what to study at the end of each chapter. Reach out to her and she will be lenient. She also gives back lots of feedback and helps students understand how to fix errors.

Straightforward, organized, covers all of what needs to be done. Easy to follow. Very understanding, considerate and supportive. Cares about her students. Responds QUICK to emails. Speech was easy! Cameras stay on, not a big deal considering its a speech class. Lectures are heavy but Professor Vick is outstanding at delivering them. Great class!!

Shes such a wonderful and inspirational person. Her class was easy we had interview paper and just an outline where you do a speech on it. Discussion boards were very fun. The class is real simply if you pay attention to her, youll do fine theres a lot of small discussions and group projects and a writing assignment, its not hard. Honestly a good teacher and if you need help she will help you a lot.

Prepares us for a University, so tough but very understandable and incredibly helpful. I super appreciated her, she pushed us out of our comfort zone which allowed me to make several new friends that I did not have before. Homework was not too terrible, just a few big projects worth a lot of points, but should be an easy grade! Loved her!

CST 110 is a hybrid class, Mostly Online and meet once a week. Professor Vick is one of the easiest professors you will ever meet. She doesn't expect much but to give her your time and effort. Attendance is mandatory and grades you on that. There's one group fun project and a paper and lastly, a speech given to the class near the end of semester.

Professor Vick was the best professor I have had at NOVA thus far. She made me enjoy Communications class and even made me consider changing to a Communications major. Although some of the assigned assignments pushed me out of my comfort zone, Professor Vick helped me to strengthen my public speaking skills. I highly recommend her class!

Despite professor Vick starting the semester by mentioning how direct and to the point she was, I received more kind and encouraging feedback from her than I have in any other class that I've taken. Her lectures are informative and engaging, she's very accessible outside of class and she grades assignments almost immediately. Highly recommend.

TAKE HER CLASS BEFORE SHE RETIRES. She was my favorite prof all throughout NOVA, she is set to teach one last class over the summer, if you need to take CST, TAKE HERS. Professor Vick is very fun. She creates a fun atmosphere to class where you aren't scared to conversate with them. No finals just a big speech at the end of year. It is graded heavy. Class is overall good, made nice friends due to the projects and class discussions.

The class is varily easy and it was made easier by this proffesor. She provided us with what was pretty much a study guide outline, that told us what topics would be on the test.
