Right now she is definitely the best organic teacher at LSUS! She is very good but pretty hard, and at times a little unfriendly when asked for help. The good thing is that she lets you know what you need to know for the exams and prepares you well.

I don't think she like teaching lab. She rushes the lab experiments. She actually ruined the last lab experiment. The book asked for a SMALL colorless flame and she went around and change all the flames in the class to a LARGE yellow flame. This tainted all the experiments because of the soot.
she explains things very well.
Simple test questions w/ couple of thinkers. Her anger toward "lazy" students makes tests uncomfortable & easier 2 fail (mental stress). Picky grader. Lessons r very good, organzied & straight forward. Her personality & tests are not. If u can help it, take someone else. Otherwise, ok teacher.
2 words- OLD TESTS!!!!! If you have them, you will be fine.
Very clear, precise lectures for a subject that's typically hard for students. I believe she uses scare tactics with exams because in the end she gives generous curves. WARNING: If you are sensitive or easily offended, dont take her class... she sometimes insults the class's low scores. Otherwise, excellent teacher for serious, mature students.
She's very nice and so far she's been pretty easy ir kinda scares me what her test will be like.
She is awesome. She just wants you to listen and if you do and you write down everything she puts on the board you will do great. She is a good teacher and i liked her class and i recommend you to take her.
Good teacher.

I wouldn't recommend this teacher at all.
Good teacher. Write down everything she puts on the board and go to class. She also seems very nice, HOWEVER, she won't take your crap so be polite and follow her rules. Again, I liked her a lot.
I liked her.... she was really nice... just take good notes...write down what she does...look over ur notes n u should be ok!
Great teacher. Very patient and funny. Write down everything she puts on the board and don't miss class. Study your notes. She makes chemistry very interesting and she is an expert. Liked her class a lot.
She's insulting if you don't understand. Talks to much about her kid, and brings her home life to class. The worst Chemistry teacher at LSUS.
Without a doubt the worst chemistry teacher at LSU-S. If you can, take another teacher at any cost. She is incredibly insulting, never helps students, never in her office, and wouldn't even answer my emails for up to 2 weeks. Impossible to pass class without 30 hours a week in study time.
I loved this class. She is very interesting. Go to class, take good notes and you should do fine. There's a quix every Wednesday but they are staright from the notes. Pretty easy class over all.
This class was a big disappointment. Could have better if someone else taught it. Prof. does not use class time well. Her attitude is that the student should teach themself at this level. That's fine sometimes, but the LSUS catalog had promised one lecture per week. She often went and sat in her office instead of teaching. Not recommended.
her lab is relly easy
AKA Dr. Zippi, do not be confused! Do not take for Organic Chem if you dont have too. Because of her own personal problems during the semester she tries to catch up by cramming too much material onto 1 test. Class averages on every test floats around 60%. Asking for help is useless. Does curve at the end of the semseter but does little to help.
This course is ideal for the med, pharm, vet students, etc, because Dr.Zippi expects you to memorize so you can basically pass this portion of the MCAT. If you are an Education major that must have organic chemistry, then DO NOT take it with Dr.Zippi. You will learn absolutely nothing. Take it elsewhere or find a better professor. The book sucks!!
Difficult class if you are not a science/math person. There is a lot of math in the chemistry equations. Thursday quizzes, and two exams are your grades. Dr. Bida is a helpful professor, which is good since the material is not easy.
I would not recommend taking this class. Instructions for assignments are very unclear.
umm i lost 10 points on my midterm because instead of putting hickman i put hinkman. so learn to spell and then maybe you will like her. the lab is pretty easy though. there are no quizzes and one lab report.
HORRIBLE teacher. Her attitude is horrible and she's NEVER around for help. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Did not seem to have the time to teach this course. Always seemed to be winging it at the start of lab every week. Difficult to get exactly what she wants out of her. Will be vague on expectations in lab report and notebook and then grades it hard. Still confused as to what was expected.
good teacher.. gives quizes every week which come straight from the notes.. gives online homework often but its easy..very easy to understand and helpful.. gives midterm and final which seem easy but she is very picky when grading. just study the notes every day and youll do fine.
I love her! She is a very good teacher and explains things well. There are quizzes every friday which she makes simple for easy points. Just study your notes from the previous week and youll do fine. Homework is online, very easy because you can do it as many time as you like for the best grade. Midterm is simple because she reviews previous test.
She goes by Dr. Zippi. Really good professor but no matter who you take organic with it will be hard. I would definitely take orgo I & II with her. She assigns HW to help boost your grade so book is necessary as is solutions manual. I HIGHLY suggest getting solutions manual. Goes the xtra mile for you to understand before tests. Great professor!!
Nothing difficult about this professor other than she is absolutely 100% unhelpful during her office hours. She sits there and acts like she's ready for you to leave and then doesn't really answer your question(s). Rarely returns emails. Material is very easy and she tests it at a fairly simple level, just study before. Gives bonus opportunities.
Easy class, tests were incredibly simple if you understood the math involved - not a lot to memorize conceptually. I never bothered buying the textbook, HW is done online now and the answers are usually on google.
I had no prior knowledge of chemistry and was scared witless of this course. CONS: She seems unprepared for class everyday and often makes up test and quiz material on the fly as she is teaching you. PROS: Amazing at clarifying the problems. Gives multiple examples and covers exam material in depth prior to exams. Go to class and a B is guaranteed.
Super nice and easy to follow
I loved her class. She held a review session before each exam that are VERY similar to the actual exam. She gives points for homework assignments. I definitely feel as if she WANTS her class to do well. I loved her, and I'll be taking her class for CHEM 266 this coming semester.
I like that he does not use powerpoint, it makes reactions and what not easier to follow when done step by step on the whiteboard.
The material was hard for me in the beginning, but she did everything she could to help. She gives exam reviews and if you take notes on the review, it will help with exams A LOT. The exam problems are very similar to the ones in the review. The weekly quizzes boost your grade too. Shes strict but very friendly. I'd take a class with her again.
Dr. Zippi is an amazing teacher. She's been doing this for a long time and it shows. If you do the homework and you study it is possible to make a passing grade.
Dr. Zippi can be a relatively good teacher at times (lower levels) but her rude, condescending personality overshadows it. She takes off points for the most ridiculous things! Unapproachable, she always seems to make you feel stupid. She'll call you out in class, too. Lab is easy, though. Avoid if at all possible! Definitely prefer Dr. Salvatore.
Dr. Zippi gave ok lectures but gets easily sidetracked. There are 2 quizzes every Friday and if you miss one no matter if your in the hospital or at a funeral you fail them and no makeups. She would of been a good teacher if she wasn't so rude.
I started taking this class and I thought I was doing well. I heard great things about Zippi. However, when I got my first test grade back everything changed. I studied VERY hard for this test and even took off work... only 8 people in the class passed the test. She refused to curve (no point since the average was a 56). Her grading was ridiculous.
I had Dr. Zippi for 121 and 265. Lectures are highly structured, as are the tests. Tough grader but extremely clear and consistent about chemistry concepts, rules, reactions, etc. Labs are less organized but very easy. I would take another class of hers in a heartbeat. Great organic professor!
I Took her for chem 121 lab and this was the easiest lab ever. You show up, she explains in detail what to do, and you pass. The midterm is extremely easy, and she gave us a bonus opportunity. I like her for her clarity.
Dr. Zippi is an amazing professor who cares for her students and truly wants them to succeed. Her tests are based entirely off of the lecture notes and she sends an email telling you exactly what topics to study before each test. Quizzes are once a week that are hilariously easy to help you boost your grade. But beware - she is a TOUGH grader.
She is such a tough grader it's ridiculous! She basically told us all we had to do was fill in our own data for a lab report and copy everything else off of her example an she gave me a low grade! It was practically identical to her example she clearly told us to stick to. On a midterm I only missed one question and half of another made a C.
Great teacher. Very knowledgeable. She provides the tools to do well, but success in the class depends on investing time and building a foundation of knowledge early. If you miss class you will have a hard time keeping up. It's a big boy big girl program. She expects you to keep up. I recommend reading ahead so you can follow along in class.
Tests are not too difficult but her tough grading makes this class challenging. I nearly dropped the class after an initial poor homework and test grade. I bought the Solutions Manual and got better at checking my own errors. With her bonus point opportunity and curve, I ended with a B.
She is awesome. Cares about her students but if you dont care enough, she wont do anything about it. Show up to class and you will be good. She Tests you on what she specifically lectures on unlike other professors. She genuinely wants her students to do well in the class. I absolutely loved her class and will be taking her again next semester.
She is a super picky grader. She can be quite rude and discouraging when you ask her questions. Teaches the material but you either work things out HER WAY or fail.
Lab is easy. You have to show up. You can only make up two missed labs with an excuse or your grade will drop by a letter. There arent any quizzes. Just follow the instructions and youll pass.
Easy lab. Shes just a very strict grader when it comes to her template lab report that is given. Shell take off points if you have extra spaces or if you capitalize words. Which is ridiculous. Shes a straightforward teacher. Just get on her good side I guess.
Overall, the test aren't that bad. Just pay attention in lab and take good notes. There aren't any quizzes. Make sure to show up unless you have an excuse (doctor's note). The labs are pretty straightforward. Make sure to do the lab report exactly as she wants it done.
Look, don't take this professor unless you're predisposed to masochism. She has "OK" moments, but on the whole, she's an extremely unpleasant person. It varies from moment to moment. Her grading style on exams could best be described as pedantic, I think. She takes "showing your work" to extremes I never could have anticipated.
Dr. Zippi is a wonderful teacher. She makes an effort to explain things thoroughly, answer questions both in and out of class, and to connect with her students. As the semester goes on, she is a little less patient answering the questions of those who are not putting in the work (which is evident by test scores). Pay attention to the test review!
OCHEM I - Dr. Zippi is a good teacher. She explains the topics in detail and checks for understanding. She may be very picky in grading, but she gives partial credit if she can see you are on the right track for the answer. She gets a bad wrap due to abrasive personality, but I can overlook that because she KNOWS how to teach, &I actually learned!
Dr. Zippi is a great professor! She really ensures that you learned the material, the harder you work to learn the material by copying the notes and asking questions. Reading the book and using videos can also help. But she is very willing to discuss grades and notes and any questions you might have regarding her class. Just send her an email
Extremely good TEACHER. She knows the material very well. She teaches from her own notes. She writes everything on the board so it's very easy to take notes! She reviews old test before the exam, they aren't the same but lets you know what to expect. Take her for all chemistry's! Chemistry can be tough, but she makes it to where you can succeed.
She is straightforward with what she wants. Show up to class, listen and take proper notes, ask questions, study the reviews she gives and you will do well!!! It just takes effort. She gives bonus in class and sometimes out of class as well. Very much recommend!!!!! You will not regret it.
If you put the work in, you will succeed in this class. Invest yourself and your time, she will give you everything you need! Mechanisms are super important
Dr. Zippi, her preferred name, is a great teacher who is really invested in her students. Do your part and she will meet you halfway! Study study study! Youve got this. She is a gifted instructor who really cares and loves what she teaches.
O Chem 1, chem 265, is a fantastic course with Dr. Zippi. She is a good instructor who takes the time to really explain whats happening. Test reviews are crucial for both 265 and 266 and be sure you do YOUR part in studying and keeping up with material. Pay attention!
Love Love Dr. Zippi. She's incredibly knowledgeable and will work with you if you need help. *She Always responds to emails, even on nights and weekends-- she's there for you. Be prepared to do the work and study but it will pay off!
Dr. Zippi is wonderful. She's helpful, she responds to emails quickly, she's a good teacher, and she KNOWS WHAT SHE'S TALKING ABOUT. Study hard, and you will do well. You get the grade you deserve in this class, so put in the work, and you'll be fine. She's clear, she cares about her students, and her lab is a lot of fun too.
Dr. Zippi is my favorite professor at LSUS! Shes so nice, and she genuinely cares about you and your grade. Her class is strictly lecturing, a weekly quiz, and then 2 major tests; but she prepares you very well. Shes great at explaining things, and she makes her lectures very easy to understand. Ill only take chemistry with Dr. Zippi at LSUS!
One of the best professors I've had. She is extremely knowledgeable about the subjects she teaches and presents the information in an easy to understand way. If you are struggling to understand something she will continue to review it with you and wants to help you learn and understand. Great professor and a lovely person as well
Dr. Zippi really cares about her students. She is very knowledgeable about chemistry and goes out of her way to help students learn. I love her!
Dr. Zippi is the best chemistry professor I've ever had. She explains everything clearly and concisely. I have taken her for 121 and 265, and I highly recommend her class. It is a lot of work so you HAVE to study for quizzes and exams. She can be very strict and expects certain things of her students, so follow her instruction and study.
She is sweet outside of class but if you ask questions she will make you feel stupid and when it comes to her lab reports she will ALWAYS take off if you forget to put a space somewhere or even if your color is too "faint". If you get the chance take Gustavson if not she's definitely better than Radniah.
Dr. Zippi is a highly qualified educator/phenomenal instructor. Having taken her for OChemI/various senior level chemistry classes, she is very knowledgeable and passionate about what she teaches. You will have to put effort into it, but she thoroughly explains everything and outlines exactly what she wants you to know/do. Would highly recommend.
She is a great teacher. Take good notes, study, and be there and it's not too hard.
Her lab was amazing. I wish she taught more labs.
Dr. Zippi is a good professor. Shes very nice and knows what shes talking about. Her quizzes are easy, but you HAVE to study and know the material. The midterm was pretty hard, but the final was easy. Just put in the effort and you will be fine!
She is never available to talk in her office unless you specifically approach her about it. She doesnt even have office hours. She only comes to school to teach and then leaves. She is extremely rude, moody, and blunt but is a good professor. I would not take her again just because of her unavailability. Avoid if possible.
I love Dr. Zippi! Shes extremely kind, funny, and she make Organic Chemistry a little easier to understand. Its such a hard class, but I think that Dr. Zippi is your best bet if you want to pass ochem on the first try.
I've taken her for a few classes. She's not very easy, but she does teach well and is passable. She is very knowledgeable, I would take her again. But do not make her angry because she is not a very nice person. lol
Dr. Zippi a knowledgeable professor but tough. I put a lot of hours in studying and still did poorly. With most of it being online, it hard to grasp everything. She tested on a few things she specifically said wouldn't be on the exams. She doesn't offer bonus and doesn't curve. She might do a little something to boost the overall grade at the end.
I do believe Professor Zippi is a good professor. She knows her Chemistry. What makes her class such a difficult class is her tendency to grade extremely tough so beware of that.
Shes really tough if youre not already very familiar with Chemistry. The quizzes are easy, but tests are much harder. I wish the quizzes were more like whats on the test. Instead she gives harder one-off questions that youre not as familiar with. Her class notes arent written well and her lectures can be boring. Shes not evil though.
If you're good with Chem she's your best bet if you can't get Gustaven. If you aren't good with Chem like me, study frequently. She can be picky so follow her instructions and check your email frequently!! She gave us the chance to let us both drop our lowest quiz grades & do the bonus opportunity & it really helped my grade.
Dr. Zippi is the best professor I've ever had. She completely changed my mind about chemistry & how difficult it is. She truly cares for her students and wants them to succeed. If you show her you are trying, she will help you. Her lecture material is clear, organized, and helpful and is focused around the most important material she will test on!
Grades are not Earned, they are given. She grades very nitpicky. Students who get As have no idea how, and when they take other professors later, they don't have the prerequisite knowledge that Zippi was supposed to be teaching in the previous course. They are the only students that come to Tutoring, because they struggle with basic concepts.
Dr. Zippi is one of the best professors on LSUS's campus. If I could rate her 100/10 I would, my understanding of chemistry has expanded greatly. She is very knowledgeable about the course that she is teaching. She is also available outside of the classroom even with her very busy schedule.
Dr. Zippi provides all the resources necessary to do well in this course and expectations are clearly communicated. It is on students to follow instructions for the lab notebook and report. She is readily available to answer questions and ensure the experiments are done correctly. By far my favorite lab taken here! Zippi is too good for LSUS.
She has 8 labs, of which 3 are online so you won't attend class, and at the end notebook check. She has two exams and she does let you make up labs you may have missed. Her exams are easy, but if you leave your locker unlocked/forget code, forget goggles, or notebook, or don't follow her emails. She will take points off your grade.
The labs with her are exceptional. You learn a lot & during the semester, labs are a credit/no-credit basis. Some labs are online & you submit photos of your notebook. Works with you, so you can come at different times so the lab doesn't take as long. Midterm and final are take home/open notes. 1 Lab Report - she gives you the exact outline for it.
Countless issues with this course; the nitpicky grading, the amount of memorization required, etc. Biggest issue, however, is her. She is incredibly rude; I love a professor with some healthy sarcasm, but this is not that. Not only is she just plain mean, she was late to 3/4 in person classes that we had. She was 20 minutes late for the final exam.
Dr. Zippi is the best chemistry teacher I've had and clearly communicates what she is looking for on quizzes and tests. Her notes are very clear and in full detail as if she was speaking them. Teaches material very well and allows for questions. She wants her students to pass her class and will help us when needed. She's available for office hours.
Dr. Zippi is a challenging but brilliant professor. Her teaching style takes some adjustment, but if you put in the work and utilize resources like Unstuck AI for study prep, you can excel. Attendance is a must, and she has high expectations, but it's worth it to learn from her expertise.
Dr. Zippi is the best chemistry teacher here! She is caring and truly wants her students to succeed, which makes all the difference. She posts great lecture notes on Moodle as well as practice exams before tests. She is almost always available during office hours and will be happy to help you if you're struggling with the material.
Dr. Zippi was great! As long as you just come to class, pay attention, & take notes everything will be solid. There is nothing that is tested that she hasn't gone over/ you haven't seen before. Yes, it might be a lot of info, but it's certainly doable. She's super straightforward & chill.
Usually, I never have problems with professors but this lady was the biggest problem of my life. She grades extremely specific taking points off tiny errors, teaches very poorly based on textbook questions, and most importantly, the way she talks to her students is incredibly rude. I never had a professor that would talk down to her students.
Yah, I pray for those that take the class. If you do bad on the past exams and do good on the final, she raises your grade to a C. Other than that, nothing good about this class or her.
All the horror stories of this lady are true. Her Ochem class is impossible to make an A in. Test questions are designed to confuse you and in no way are the lecture beneficial. I'm so sorry if you have to take this.
