A beautiful woman--her vision will inspire you to learn to your full potential.
i never knew that "african americas" invented everything
Not exactly helpful technique-wise, but a neautiful person with a huge heart.
She such a great person who can move you insiede; she's not too demanding

Late every day. Just agree with everything she says

She judges you before she even get's to know you and your grade will show it!
great professsor! a very nice person as well, do a good presentation, show up to class and you got an A.
Do most of the readings and you'll be okay. Interesting learning experience.
She talks about the same thing over and over again. If there are other classes available, dont take her.
Her teaching style is all her own. She has a lot to offer if you listen.
Lots of work, readings, and class participation. Don't take her too seriously on her point of views. If you're looking for an easy A or a sure B in her class, look somewhere else. Her class is not for the meak-hearted, but for those who want to learn.
dont take her
Great teacher, aware of her surroundings and very insightful
You have to be in the right frame of mind for this class. She teaches life lessons more then straight lit. 110% worth taking.
Picks and Chooses her favorites in the class. Doesnt like you to challenger her opinons. Very Narrowed Minded, and Unstructured. She'll say something is on the mid term and then change her mind about it on the last minute.
You have to have a natural interest in African culture to understand and survive this class. She's a good teacher and really knows her stuff. Wants you to learn. Alot of reading(alot), 2 group projects, 2 papers, Mid-term & Final.
my favorite professor in Pace, the true definition of a professor is Ms. Oseye.
A wonderful professor! Full of life and energy! Really knows her stuff and tries to make it understandable by relating the literature to real life. Always smiling and encourages viewpoints from different ethnicities. An ASSET to pace!!
Horrible. Only her opinion matters. If you disagree - don't even thing about A's
I took this class in 1998. Excellent Professor. One of Pace's greatest assets.
Fiction Writing: Such an excellent person, such a horrible fiction professor. Don't bother buying the books you won't need them(for the class at least). Promises people grades in front of the whole class. Doesn't understand the concept of fiction, encourages memoir writing instead. I learned nothing

Well I got a B but I hated every minute in her class. She plays favorites and doesn't like when you disagree with her opinion. Good luck on the midterm too. She tells you to study one thing and you find the test is on something else.
wonderful professor............
Very, very, nice lady. Don't bother buying the books, you WONT need them. Class has NO structure. I already have gotten 4 As from professor and read 1 out of the 200 hundred books she ask to read. She speaks about irrelavant topics all day. You won't learn much about writing and Literature. hahahah.
Very narrow-minded. Hates when you disagree with her opinion - actually believes that there can be only one opinion - HER'S
This class is a drag. It's most time consuming class I've ever taken. Way too much work. DOn't bother with the extra credit, she never remembers who got what. Good luck....
She is very easy. You do not need to buy any nooks ever, and most are in libarary or library reserve. You will learn a lot about holistic medicine and life lessons- she is very intreresting and makes LIT bearable because you don't learn anything in LIT. Very easy grader

She is the best Professor here at Pace..bottom line. She opens you up to new authors that you haven;t heard off and you haven't heard of them because other professors let us stick to the basics. Shw opens your mind for thinking..That is how we will survive in this world...we .need to think. Nothing is easy in life...
Best professor ever? If that means having no concept of what she is supposed to teach, sure. Someone said, "Shemakes LIT bearable because you don't learn anything in LIT." Plays favourites. Doesn't care if you actually do work properly as in follow guidelines from books she has assigned! To her writing fiction means writing your own life story.
This professor is very interesting. You'll learn so much about life and literature by taking her class. The assignments are not difficult. If you do you work, you'll be fine.
She's a really good professor. Her class is interesting; you'll learn alot and will have lots of interesting discussions and assignements. She not really difficult, but you'll still learn
Horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did not teach me a damn thing. All she talks about is how potato chips are the devil or about people getting killed or robbed or losing their homes. Most depressing class I've ever had. Choice of literature was completely stupid. I'm going to complain to the chair about her.
Listen. Bottom Line is she is the best professor anyone will ever have. Some of yall dont like her becasue yall dont understand life. Haters. She makes you think. Yall dont like her cause you wont things to be handed to you. She teaches you about world issues that relate to the text. Who doesnt want to know about those things. Open your brains.
Great professor. She has that love her or hate her type of personality. Very helpful and understanding but she is an old lady. Like our grandma's age so she does have her opinions about our lifestyles and such. Eccentric, spiritual, looks at the moon and stars a lot, talks about Nigeria a lot, has no structure to teaching. Is in a world all her own
I agree with everyones comments. She is alit of everything. But I got an A when she gave me neg feedback all semester. She is and easy grader overall but she will pressure you to think outside the box.
This woman came THIRTY MINUTES LATE to my three hour class and claimed she had to revamp her entire plan for the day due to a news report she'd heard that morning. What the heck? She's utterly insane. Teaches more about politics than anything remotely related to English. I walked out of the class with a massive migraine.
Odd for a Creative writing: Fiction class considering she talks a lot about politics. Not what I expected but she seems to genuinely enjoy writing and teaching. Though she seems a little crazy (she says no texting because it kills people). Also one of the required readings is nonfiction, and we're doing Obama later. Not very fiction oriented...
Went to the first class then dropped it, if that's any indication. She focuses mainly on memoir and political writing - NOT fiction. If that's what you want to learn, get out now. This professor is COMPLETELY crazy.
Has a refreshing unorthodox approach to teaching which can seem strange and almost loony to many people. But if you open mind and have a little patience, 80% of what she says makes all the sense in the world. It can be a tedious learning process but hey, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Persistence builds character!
I'm still in this class, however I would tell anyone to take it. She is a brilliant woman (Columbia grad) and is so wise! She may seem very Afro-centric, but the class is called Literature of African People. No hw, only 1 paper, midterm, and final. I learned so much already, and the class isn't over. Very opinionated, but I still love her!
Very inspirational teacher. Motivational with every word she speaks. She makes you appreciate life. You cant help but to listen to every thing she says. If you miss a word, you miss alot! Great professor!
Please take her class if you are looking for someone who know's what they're talking about and is not into lecturing. She is very helpful and often will consult with you one on one to work on your writing. She appreciates writing styles and allows a stress free environment. Super wise. love her, only thing is. most of her courses are on fridays :(
I had her for African Literature. I liked her but when she explains the assignments it's slightly unclear. You never really know what she wants out of your papers sometimes. But she is a wonderful person and teaches you a lot.
Great Professor. Left a great impression with me. Her class will forever be memorable!!!#OSEYE
She is a wise woman and I loved her creative fiction class. Even though she does take things very personally, she is a great teacher, easy grading, easy assignments. Don't take her if you don't have an open mind about things, because she is very opinionated for sure.
She is seriously one of the best professors at Pace. She is soft spoken but her words seriously penetrate deeply. She is wise beyond words and is amazing at opening the class for discussion and opening your mind overall. She is indeed passionate, you'll leave every class feeling different from how you came in
Prof. Oseye's class is very relaxing and really helped me improve as a writer. She is very insightful and inspirational. Definitely take her class is if you have the chance
Okay so I am a business student , and I REALLY enjoyed this class at first, but later as the course went on it got more boring and the professor became more judgmental. She is a very nice lady but very opinionated and very set on her ways. She expected us to read 6 books this semester... which I read non of but still passed with good grades.
Wise & caring, but very opinionated about certain (often controversial) things. Learned about history of NYC, slaveowners of NYC, & her life, but nothing about creative writing or fictional creative writing. Listed 3 books on the syllabus, only focused on 1, got mad when we didn't read the full book or analyze it deeply. Will often say weird things
Prof Oseye is very intelligent, but she's also very passionate and opinionated about very select things. Take her if you want to learn about slavery, black history, Africa, and injustice, but nothing else. I had her for fiction writing, but I learned nothing about fiction writing. She's judgemental; if you disagree with her, then you're wrong.
Easy A. Read the text, do the 2-3 essays and learn about African Literature. She's super caring so if you need an extension or can't come to class just tell her.
Enjoyed the discussions we had but it was very little to no structure in the class. She would still be figuring out and vaguely telling us what would be on test the day of. Received an incomplete, let her know I would be missing the mid-term, told me it was fine and I could take it when I got back- never made time in class for me to take the test.
