The class is fairly difficult, and she expects you to work for your grade, which is fair. Her lectures are somewhat scattered, but she makes up for them by having really straightforward exams; she asks about exactly what you cover in the course packet.

Professor Baker is nice teacher. YET, she is expecting us to know everything she've taught and it is not easy. Well, maybe cuz English is my second language? But many of my classmates are not getting really, really good grades. "Study hard!" That was all I heard from her when I asked for a tip for getting a good grade. Really? I tried so hard.

Ms. Baker is an amazing teacher with a wealth of knowledge. I loved her class but honestly hated the quizzes and exams. They were not difficult as they were right from the book but if you have a busy schedule and don't have time to commit to the reading you will be sadly disappointed in the outcome. She does grade on a curve which makes grade better

Proffesor Baker is a very nice teacher and very knowledgeable about her subject. She has no patience for lazy students so dont take her if you can't put in the effort. Getting an A is very manageable but you will have to work hard. Tests are not easy.

This felt like an outdated highschool science class course. Not straight foreword or well organized. You need to attend but you'll need to teach yourself. Tests are based off of textbook questions. Lab work is pointless and doesnt help you learn. Honestly shes really sweet just not the best teacher. I enjoy talking to her as a person.

This professor makes it seem that she has something against the school that she teaches at and as if every student in community college is babied. She also blames the student's in her classes on social media rather than her poorly worded test questions. My advice is to make sure that you understand her lectures to succeed.

Took her for the lab portion w/Nichols. Terrible. Instructions to labs not clear and almost never responds to questions. Will take points off for spelling mistakes and the labs are actually pretty difficult and very time-consuming. However, the lecture exams are practically your grade and the labs do not have such a big effect on the final grade.

Does not host office hours, does not even care that students are going through a pandemic / no sympathy for adjusting tests. Tests are insanely difficult (didn't curve ?) and contained content that was not covered in class. Listen to her lectures and pray that you heard everything correctly. Read the atlas and just cross your fingers yall.

WROST PROFESSOR EVER. I took her online and she was horrible. She doesn't give you enough time to do her exams. She gives you 40 minutes to do exams which is one minute per question. You don't have to think nor respond. PPTs are horrible. They are short and doesn't explain. DON'T TAKE HER OR THE OTHER PROFESSOR.

They curve generously at the end of the semester, but if you can, don't take her. It is very difficult to prepare for exams. She is not very accommodating to students. She definitely doesn't like teaching, and that shows when your learning. Also, she is unwilling to take advice (even with remote learning) due to her "XX years of teaching experience

NO CURVES and grades are based on tests, she doesn't have empathy towards her students and thinks students in CC are dumb and incompetent. Basically you just watch videos of her and youtube videos and then have to prepare yourself to take tests. No extra credit and doesn't drop grades and no office hours given. Go to another CC to take this class

All her "lectures" were prerecorded videos with mistakes, and she would tell you to figure them out yourself. I never saw her face once and if I emailed to ask questions she would tell me she can't help. no office hours either. Hated this class. The tests were insane 45mins for 40 questions. Waste of money for a teacher who doesn't teach or care.

Dr. Baker knows her stuff. She's caring underneath her no-nonsense exterior. Her exams are challenging but totally doable if you spend the time outside of class that you need to spend on a class like this. Test heavy in the grading, but if you pay attention to what she says you need to know, and if you don't mess around in class, you'll be fine.

Labs are worth more than exams which is a plus in my opinion (exams are online) No homework, free textbook, lectures may get out of topic sometimes but she's a cool nice lady who wants you to listen. Only flaw - expects you to read and figure out the labs yourself, but it's not a major issue when you get to work with partners most of the time!

The absolute worst class I have taken at SMC to date no exaggeration I wish the department would cancel this class so we can actually learn the subject at our school of transfer. She is so unmotivated to teach it's crazy. She does nothing, she doesn't even lecture. I am so disappointed that I will leave SMC with such a lousy taste from this class.

Took her for hybrid. Be prepared for a rude, condescending, and uninspired professor. First exam I got a C+ and met with her. She said I was a great student. This class has an insane amount to memorize. Prepare yourself to self teach and study, way more than any other class. When asking for help, put your big boy pants on. No office hours.

Makes you learn pretty much everything by yourself, the average for the tests in the class was a 60, then a 65, then a 66. Blames the students for not studying properly when obviously is her fault. She also is extremely rude, and if you ask any questions she gets mad at you for asking.

Theres very little leniency and she often gets upset at to those who ask questions even though a lot of lab instructions were difficult for me to follow. Baker's class made me feel like I was in the 1980s. She had a strange anti-phone-and-computer policy and some arbitrary rules that remind me of the ills of traditional education. On the bright side, she clearly really cared about biology and would often talk about new discoveries and information she learned. The tests weren't hard if you study.

The professor is amazing. But she sometimes seem uncaring when students have questions. We are not allowed to ask any questions during the lab, which I believe can be difficult for students whose first language is not English. Because I got criticized for asking a question that had already been explained, even though I still didn't understand it.

She is old fashioned. Her class is straight-forward. Her tests are multiple choice. just work hard for this class, majority of the grades were from exams. She had a quiz at the beginning of class for completion for those who came on time. I had an A the whole semester until one exam dropped it to a B. Find a better professor, otherwise she is okay

I took Professor Baker for BIOL 3 as a hybrid class. Lectures are online and labs are in person, and grades are based entirely on labs and exams. There is no instructor support: she does not offer office hours or allow emails about class content. If students struggle, responsibility is placed solely on the student. I do not recommend this class.
