Textbooks are not required, but there are a few outside readings that are required. This semester she had assigned group projects in which groups would lecture class. Easy A on every exam because of the group projects. Her classes are a little unorganized, but doesn't really affect your grade.
Dr. Ballard is so interesting! She makes the discussions intriguing and is also pretty hilarious. She's passionate about her field of study, and you can tell through her lectures. Tests are online, gives extra credit, and you can get an A without doing the readings. Would 100% take her class again.
She is an amazing teacher she does not give a lot of homework the homework she does give she goes over it before you actually do it at home so you basically know the answers you only have two exams one midterm and one final. She's very funny and able to communicate with. It's best to come to class or your grade may be affected due to your absence.
Easy A. 4 tests and they are all online (free cheat). Go to class, take notes and you will make an A.
Tests are online and the lectures are very interesting. Books are not needed for the class, just take the notes she gives in class.
Such an amazing professor. Really cares about her students and what she does, is hilarious so class isn't boring. No textbook required but she is lecture heavy (she posts the outlines online, though). Show up, take notes, ask questions, and she'll love you.
She's cool. She really is passionate about how messed up the criminal justice system is. It's not a front she's putting up. The tests are online. There's four. Not cumulative at all. Even if you don't care about personality or engagement, it's a fifty minute class. She simplifies everything a lot, and she posts the outlines online before the tests.
All assignments are online and the tests are super easy. Just make sure you have the book and you'll be fine.
Loved this class. Attendance was optional and all exams were online. She gave the best examples and told some really funny stories. The last exam wasnt cumulative either, you really would have to try hard to fail this class because its like a free A.
One of the most interesting classes I have ever taken. Prof is WOKE and isn't afraid to call the CJ system out on its BS. I was never bored in her class because the material is interesting and the way she teaches it is incredible and easy to understand. Make sure to take notes or get them from a friend because tests are online!
Very funny, interesting lectures. Only grades are 4 online tests. Rounds up your grade as long as it ends in a 9 (aka 79 B). Extra credit opportunity. Professor understands this is only a 2 credit class so she makes it v easy
She is hilarious, and there's only four test, they're all online and open note. Relates criminal justice to her own life and it's not only educational but its hilarious. 100 percent take this class it's easy and fun!
Great teacher that really cares about her students. Very easy and straightforward class. She understands that we have other classes aside from her class so she makes it very easy. Just read the case studies and highlight notes and you should be good to pass with an A. Textbook will also help a lot for her exams. Crazy curves! (GPA Booster)
A great and passionate teacher, and the particular class I took was the most fun, open, and easy class I've ever taken. She's hilarious and would definitely take her other classes.
Prof. Ballard is hilarious and keeps what can be depressing topics enjoyable. I personally recommended her to my friends. Her text book isn't mandatory but looking back it would have been smart to buy it. Her tests can be difficult if you didn't go to class and make up 75% of your grade which can be troublesome.
One of the coolest, & funniest teachers Ive ever come across. I took her for Perspectives on Criminal Justice and her lectures are really fun. Grades are based on the 3 exams, exams are online and are based on notes taken during lecture so take good notes, and attendance is worth 25% of your grade so GO TO CLASS. Its only 50 mins.
A class that I would really highly recommend! I took her perspective and comparative cultures class and there's a lot of lectures but she makes sure to go over everything. Show up, take notes and you'll do good, for sure. She does have a nice sense of humor and is a definitely great listener! Explanations are thorough and very helpful!
I really didnt enjoy this course. I think shes a harsh grader, and she doesnt communicate well via email. It is hard to do well in an online class like this because she doesnt give feedback from the projects and discussions. I passed, but it was honestly an uphill battle throughout the semester. I would NEVER take her again.
Great lecturer! Well spoken and organized. Go to class and take notes and you will pass no problem. Only grades are 3 tests and attendance.
She's super cool and funny! She made lectures interesting and the class was easy if you paid attention. She cares a lot about her students!
She was my favorite professor even though it was in a lecture hall. She made sure to check in on our mental health and was really there for me when I needed it. There was an app she used to check your attendance, but the tests were online and extremely easy, just remember to take them. Attendance is 25% of your grade and each test 25% as well.
Prof. Ballard might be the best Ive had at GSU. Shes real chill and you can tell she cares about students AND the content shes teaching. For tests, theyre online and super easy. Plus, her class is actually interesting. Only bad thing is the app for attendance (which is graded) but if youre smart about that, it shouldnt be an issue honestly.
Final Grade is made up of 3 online exams and attendance. Show up and take notes! You get 3 excused absences. She lets you use notes on exams. Funny and makes lectures somewhat interesting. Remember to take exams because no make-ups! I don't know how anyone could get less than an A- in her class.
Online class with an assignment every week. Quiz every week and either a discussion question or an essay question. Two test midterm and final. Work is not that hard and if you have any questions make sure to email her. Responds quickly.
Great teacher with lectures that are informative and funny at the same time. 4 homework assignments (super easy), two test (midterm & final), and a group project. Work is not hard as long as you show up to class. She is also very willing to work extra to help you understand any material you might not.
Professor Ballard is a great teacher I would advise you to take her class. We had 2 exams which is fairly easy if you study. There were also 4 homework assignments and 3 projects. You wont be stressed out if you do your part in this class. She will work with you!
Easily accessible through email. Easy class, took her for summer. Long discussion posts weekly, a midterm and a final, 4 essay assignments. Overall she is an easy grader, just spend a little more time in the class and you'll be fine. Purchase the ONLINE TEXTBOOK bc that will really help when you take her exams.
Mrs. Ballard is amazing! I took her this semester and the work load was not a lot. Every week we have a worksheet and a quiz, which is very easy if you watch her lectures. She requires textbook, however you could easily pass with just her lectures. Shes very accessible by email and was very understanding this semester with everything going on!
Ellen Ballard is a literal queen. I have her currently and she's super caring. She is a just grader and also doesn't give busy work. I'd recommend her to anyone I know. I did have to buy the book but it wasn't TOO expensive.
ballard is a real gem! this course is very easy and straight forward. she's understanding and is very easy to get into contact with outside of class. there's 10 discussion posts (3 to 4 paragraphs) , 2 tests (midterm and final), and 4 essays. The textbook really helps with the exams. It sounds like a lot but this class is super easy
The class itself is not difficult, however she makes it difficult. For example, one might get consistent As on quizzes graded by the computer, but grades are significantly lower when she manually grades assignment & refuses to explain the grade she give so we can learn and improve. She also will not accommodate scheduling of others to meet private
Professor Ballard has a great sense of humor and is very cool. She isn't strict at all and she is relatable. Her lectures are interesting and she tells great stories. She does require attendance though, so come to class. She doesn't give a lot of work and isn't strict on tests.
Our only assignments were discussion post and module exams. She would provide lecture videos and different other sources for information. The exams were not extremely difficult but make sure you have a general idea over the information provided.
Her lectures and assignments were interesting and easy but still made you think critically. Her tone of voice isn't monotone and the way she gave lectures kept you engaged. She's very sweet and you can tell she enjoys what she does.
Exams are easy, you just need to watch the lectures and participate in discussion posts. Easy A. If not one of the easiest college classes I've had.
This class consists of discussion posts and exams. Discussion posts are good and help you interact with the material from class. She is a good professor and provides a lot of insights on topics from the class. She has recorded lectures and also provides us to watch some external videos. Exams are based off the lectures only and are not hard at all.
If you're debating on taking this class just take it!
Super caring professor. Very light workload. Most weeks all that was required was a discussion post (does not have to be a certain amount of words.) And 4 Test throughout the semester. Does have strict deadlines but offers partial credit for missed assignments. lecture power points are usually brief and not super boring. Does not assign busy work.
She was very clear and concise in her lectures and the supplemental material were often videos and entertaining. Literally got a 100 in the class because her tests are literally from her lectures. Her discussions are thought provoking and not boring. Totally recommend her
The best professor, ever. This is my second time taking one of her classes (2 separate classes) and she is seriously the best. She doesn't give heavy work loads and she's very caring. You will never be confused, take her! You won't regret it.
She is hands down the best professor at GSU!
She is the best
Hands down the best professor at Georgia State. The lectures/PowerPoints are super easy to follow, the quizzes & tests are easy (if you listen to lecture). She is an awesome person with a great sense of humor too! Highly recommend, definitely an easy A!
Caring teacher, easy hw just discussions about your opinion and a project at the end. Easy A and interesting
she was such an amazing professor! she really cared about her students and was very sweet. PERS 2001 online consisted of weekly mini lectures with about 5 discussion posts for the whole semester. there was about 6 exams that were not proctored and all super easy! all info was in the lectures. no essays no reading nothing so easy
This class was shaky. Although it was a mini-master, she started off pushing out fun discussion posts at a steady pace. However, as the semester comes to an end, she has only graded 3 assignments, and just now gave directions for the final project going into finals week. On top of it all, we still have the final exam to prepare for.
Took this course as a mini-mester; she was very straightforward with what was needed of us and didn't overwhelm us with work. Although her TA was sick, which held our pace back a bit, I enjoyed the class; just make sure to take notes for the videos she provides, and you'll do fine.
very good teacher. she is very nice and will respond to emails in a short amount of time. she also gives extra credits and extra points just because. i feel like she helps her students because she knows how hard college is.
Easiest class this semester for me. She's very helpful and the work load isn't too much.
My favorite professor at GSU. I've taken two of her classes and ended the class extremely happy both times. You will not be disappointed. As long as you try on the assignments she will give you an A. I would recommend her to everyone!
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! This is a very easy class to pass, as long as you do your assignments, but even then, you will most likely get an A. Assignments are really easy and very interesting, and fun to learn. Professor was very caring and sweet.
She is very understanding and she will make sure you understand. If you don't understand ask questions.
Great teacher very honest and passionate about her teaching craft. She also does not hold back or sugar code on the broken system we live in! She was awesome and very informational
Uses a lot of PowerPoint and lectures. A lot of assignments, so make sure you keep up, but shes is one of the best teachers.
She is excellent even online I was able to comprehend the material and earn my A. There is a lot of reading and information to process give yourself the time it takes to process it. One day at a time.
Extremely unorganized, constantly changing due dates while expecting everyone to stay on track. She changed the due date of one of our projects at least 3 times. She says attendance is not mandatory but gets mad if you miss a class. She talks about herself too much. I think I learned more about her than the content itself.
One of my favorite professors at GSU. I've taken two of her classes, different courses, and was never disappointed. She truly cares about her students, take her class if you get the chance!
This is my favorite professor at this school that does online classes. She engages with the class, you can tell that SHE puts her coursework together and not copy+pasting from others. I take her every chance I get.
she was chill
She's an amazing professor who truly loves teaching and wants the best for her students. Her lectures are informative and not boring at all. She drops your lowest discussion grade and there's a capstone presentation as the final about your topic of choice. There are also 3 exams that are not long winded or too difficult. I really enjoyed her class.
She is super sweet and funny. The workload is very easy and light. It's mostly discussions, 3 easy tests and a capstone presentation of your choice. I loved her and the course!
She is the biggest sweetheart ever. She is truly so caring and understanding. She needs to be protected at all costs
Wow least stressful class last semester she is super nice, the work is super easy she assigns it and you have plenty of time to do it and she grades very easily.
She's a really great professor. The class is easy, the discussions are invigorating and thought-provoking, and the exams are easy. She really seems to care about her students and their success. If you need to get that institutional foundation credit out of the way, choose her class, I 100% recommend it. The class was also a mini-mester.
Ms. Ballard was the best! I did a mini-master with her so things were a little different but it was 5 discussion posts (1 dropped) and 3 exams. Discussions were really interesting and engaging. No textbook is required she gave us all the readings necessary. 100% recommend her she was great.
Great teacher that I recommend taking! The class is very simple and not that much work involved other than weekly discussion posts, 2 essay papers, a midterm and final. The discussion topics are intersesting and engaging unlike other classes.
Elle was the BEST professor I've had at GSU. She is super understanding and considerate. She wants her students to do well and get good grades. She's very accessible outside of class as well. Take Elle, you won't regret it!!!
Great teacher. Gives you reminders and great feedback
To A her class: 1 ,you need to watch the videos that make by her at many time at you can. 2 Study the PDF slides which is the same as the video. 3 Do he scussion and reply to two class mates
Very easy course
Take any class she is offering!!!! She is very understanding her material is clear and straight to the point. Read the materials and you will do just fine. you determine your success.
Really easy class. Lots of readings with few graded assignments.
Prof Ballard was an amazing teacher my first semester at GSU. There are 4 discussion posts and three online exams for the class in total. She is really nice and caring and her assignments and exams are super simple with ample material to work with. Definitely worth taking!
Communication is horrible. However class is semi easy. 10 discussions replay to 2 classmates , midterm ,final exam and 1 course project 5 to 7 pages. Very nice lady but have to much going on at gsu. I think she is over internship as well. But easy class overall. Just do not bother to email her about anything. I was also pregnant this semester.
The class is super easy and there are barely any assignments. 3 exams all open book and no lockdown, and 4 discussion boards. If you do everything on time and by instruction you'll get a 100.
She's a really good teacher, overall the class was extremely easy. Multiple discussions, one final, one midterm and one final project. Everything was good to easily available responds to emails right away.
Easiest class I've taken here. There's only 4 discussion posts. For the discussion post, just answer sincerely and show that you gave at least some thought into your answer, and you'll get a 100 easily. She isn't harsh kn grading. There's 3 exams (all open book, no lockdown browser). Theres like 100 students, so you won't receive your grades fast.
Only three exams, all open book. Only dour discussion posts and thats it, even if your turn it in past the due date (I haven't but I have heard...) she lets you completly make it up or she curves it, but that being said its not hard to turn in four assignments on time. So So So easy take her, shes also very sweet and nice.
I love this professor! The assignments and due dates are super clear, and the workload is very manageable. There are only four discussions and three exams for the entire class, and she's not a tough grader. Plus, there aren't many assignments, which makes the class stress-free. Definitely recommend!
Easiest class ever! Just 4 opinion-based discussion posts and 3 super easy tests with plenty of time. She's chill, understanding, and even curves the final grade (not that you'll need it). Take it if you want an easy A. 10/10 recommend!
Truly an amazing professor with interesting and informative lectures! The discussion posts were surprisingly helpful in grasping the course material, while somehow being kind of fun to do. I highly recommend this course, not only for the easy A, but for the professor and the material itself!
THE BEST TEACHER EVER. I took her for research methods, the internship class and I am taking her again in the fall (mental health class). The only way to fail her class is to make yourself fail. She is the biggest sweetheart and helps me ALOT even after I left her class we kept in contact. Breath of fresh air man fr fr.
Very easy class and very kind and caring professor. It is self paced with 4 discussion posts that are very easy to do and get 100% on. Exams are not difficult. Only 3. Sends weekly announcements that are encouraging and helpful for organization. VERY lenient on discussion post grading. She is the best professor for online classes.
