If you show up she gives you extra credit. You turn in homework every Sunday. She is honestly super nice and a really great algebra teacher. Highly recommend!
She takes notes with you, which is super helpful and easy to follow along. There is homework but she never assigns something you havent covered in class. Gives LOTS of extra credit for attendance. There is a quiz every Monday only two questions. She gives tons of partial credit. If she can tell you gave the effort, you will be rewarded.
she acts like she is above you, so don't asks stupid questions because she will make you look stupid to the whole class and literally laugh. could not stand her! i cant respect someone who doesnt have respect for others.
Amazing professor!! Very understanding and easy to approach. Loved her teaching style.
Ms. Robinson is an amazing professor! I can not say enough good things about her. She is always willing to help you during her office hours, genuinely cares about your grades, and teaches her class at a perfect pace. She does give extra points if you show up to class! I would recommend Ms. Robinson to anyone!
She is too sweet! She also seems young so she relates with you well. Each class counts as one extra credit point so you can get up to 25. Her lectures cover EVERYTHING; I advise going to class. There are quizzes every monday, but easy and only 2 questions. She didnt allow us to use calculators though so beware. Easy A for this class. I recommend!
She teaches her class with her own notes so missing a day a class youll be behind, Homework due the night before quizzes, but will open them up again before exams. Replaces the lowest with Final and offers extra credit for attendance and attending outside lectures. Overall shes very nice and understanding and grades fairly.
Ms. Robinson was a really nice teacher overall. Did not allow any calculators so tests were open ended but does give partial credit. Homework is online. Tests are a tough if you don't study. Attendance isn't mandatory but gives a bit of extra credit if you go to class.
She will make sure you understand the concepts if you participate.
Great teacher! She does well with explaining the material and answering questions. A quiz every week but they are very easy! Homework helps with the test.
Absolutely best Math professor i have taken so far. She's always prepared and explains everything in a manner that makes sense. She does have a small quiz every week so its best to do all the homework and understand everything. But she is a very nice and sweet lady.
The only reason I susceeded in this class was because of Prof. Robinson. She is very clear with her notes but does not post them online. It is important to go to class because each day you are there is a point added to your extra credit. She is the best business calculus teacher I have ever had and I reccommend taking her if there is a spot open!
She is an amazing professor. Her notes are colorful and very easy to understand. If you need help go to office hours, she is always happy to see that students care about her class. She gives reviews for the test and as long as you do the homework and practice you will get an A. Attendance is not mandatory but gives you a lot of extra credit.
Professor Robinson was one of the best math teachers, and teacher in general, that I have had here at Texas State. Her lectures are super easy to understand and she is a very lenient grader. She is such a nice girl with a passion for math! Totally recommend
Probably the best math teacher I have had since I have been in school. She loves answering any question even if its obvious. Her notes are colorful and easy to read. Loud clear voice to where I can sit in the very back and still hear her. During office hours shes even MORE helpful. UGH! I wish she taught more than just math !!
She gives extra credit at the end of the semester for good attendance.
Im personally bad at math. But she makes it easy to understand. She explains all steps in detail and then does examples with you which helps a lot. Youll have quizzes once a week unless theres a test but they arent hard. Sometimes the homework can be challenging but it usually isnt that bad on test.
Really good, caring teacher who is passionate about math. Will work with you during her office hours and she cares about her students. There's homework assigned online every week but it is easy. Also, tests are not multiple choice but are fairly easy. Make sure to show ALL your work even if you think you're wrong because she gives partial credit.
She is a great teacher
The nicest and most caring professor. Always willing to help & has great lectures. Im not good at math, but I excelled in her class. 10/10 would recommend.
She not very helpful at explaining things. She talks way too fast like she expects everyone to know what shes talking about right off the bat. And when you ask he for help she tells you to ask your neighbor, but every time I asked my neighbors they didnt know what to do either. I passed this class by going to tutoring and getting help from SLAC.
Teaches very fast for college algebra. Most students in this class are freshman and cannot keep up with her pace/speed. Homework after every class but tests are multiple choice and easy.
Ms. Robinson genuinely cares about her students and wants them to pass. If you study and work hard, you will do well in this class. She is very good at explaining things, and does the best she can to engage students in a difficult subject. Her tests are similar to the homework and test reviews, just don't get behind.
loved this teacher she's so sweet and her notes are well organized, I would definitely take her again. I took college algebra with her and im not to good at math but she makes it really easy to understand
Professor Robinson is amazing! I had her online for college algebra and she's wonderful. You have homework for every lesson covered (so after every class), weekly quizzes, four tests, and a midterm. The quizzes and tests are both short and not difficult at all. She explains everything thoroughly and answers questions well. Highly recommend!
Her whole class is basically lecturing clear examples that will be on the hw & tests. There was also great study reviews that helped on the test. DEFINITELY reccommend
Great teacher, very easy to understand. A bit of homework but given plenty of time to do it. Quiz at the end of each week over the unit(s). Homework is an easy A. Just come to class and you'll be fine.
Awesome professor! Explains things extremely throughly and is really good at answering questions. A sweet prof who definitely is passionate about what she teaches and very good at what she does. 4 tests + final, short quizzes each week, test reviews, and extra credit! Hw for each section but extremely helpful for the tests! 10/10 recommend!
Absolutely loved Ms. Robinson. Its very clear that she loves teaching this subject. Her lectures are very detailed and there is plenty of extra credit opportunities. 10/10 recommend !!!
Ms robinson was a decent professor show up to clsss & youll pass.
Very nice professor, and she is understanding and teaches slow so you can understand.
Very patient and thorough professor, lectures are always great, interactive, and easy to follow along. It is easy to get help on any tasks also from either Professor Robinson (Mrs. Couvillion) or Ramon. Study sessions 2x week are a major bonus too . Great class and experience
I really struggle with math and I understand so clearly in this class. She explains thoroughly and her lecturing is intuitive and to the point. The lectures are recorded and posted on canvas if you miss class. If you watch the lectures and do the homework, easy A. Shes also just a really nice person.
She explains math so well! She's so sweet and her cats join her on zoom it's so cute. It's easy to understand math in this class and the tests and quizzes aren't too long.
She's a goof professor, knows her stuff and will go over things in more depth or give more examples if you don't understand something. Homework but it will help you in the long run. Exams are not too difficult if you make sure to learn the concepts/equations as they come and are taught.
Super sweet professor! She is very patient and understanding and really cares for her students. She explains things really well and its very easy to pass if you watch the lectures! 100% recommend. Also her cats make surprise appearances!
Professor Ellen is so sweet and smart! She adores her students and always responded quickly to my emails! The tests are multiple-choice. The final exam is very long so PREPARE. Her teachings are clear and she is willing to meet over zoom (this is during COVID) to help you, so don't hesitate to ask. Take this class, guys! You will not regret it!
I am horrible at math. I passed with an A, but it took a lot of work. Prof. C is very good at explaining math problems. If you're confused she will gladly re-explain. There is a short quiz every week, but you have several days to complete it. There's also homework after every class. It's time consuming though. If you put in effort, you'll pass.
I had a sub the first half of the semester because Professor Couvillion was on maternity leave. She was a lot better at explaining notes than the sub. Tests are kinda long but her study guides are exactly like the tests.
Ellen Couvillion was a good professor. She just wanted you to understand the how and why of each content but we did move at a fast pace. If you are good at math, you should have no problem and if you struggle just ask questions and she is more than willing to help. Tests were multiple choice and homework was unlimited attempts so you'll get 100.
i'm not great at math (took 3 tries to pass the TSI) but professor couvillion is wonderful! she cares about her students and her teaching style is clear and easy to understand. if math isn't your best, take her. if i had taken another prof i probably would have failed. but thanks to her great teaching i was able to get an A on the final!
Couvillion in detail explains Calculus to you through visual & auditory models. Every lecture is interactive and has multiple examples to learn from. The homework and lab work is challenging, but it definitely prepares you for test day. Always energetic and truly cares about the learning experience of her students.
she is super sweet and has lots of ways to get grades. super easy test and quizzes. gives an extra credit assignment
Very caring and sweet. Love what she teaches. Thoroughly explains content and is open to questions and further explanations. Moves at a moderate pace and takes material one step at a time.
She was so clear and well spoken. She actually made me understand math. Lecture was never wasted. If you are continuing in math definitely take her class. only downside is she has 15 questions tests and no formulas and no partial credit, if you fail a test its really hard to come back from it but not impossible.
Epitome of a great math professor. She did not over-complicate subjects and clearly explained difficult subjects. She made math fun for me. The exams are easy because she is not trying to trick you or leave out important information. Gives you all the tools and just wants to see if you know how to do it. Does not grade tough.
Professor Couvillion is amazing, if you get the chance to take her course, take it!! Her lectures are very helpful, and she does not go to fast to where you cannot understand anything. There is homework over each section, and it can be a lot, but if you just take the time to do it, its super easy.
Professor Couvillion is the best math professor I've ever had. Her lectures are so engaging and she explains everything very well. If you participate during class and do the homeworks, you will do well. A lot of the things we learn are topics we've already seen (if you took Algebra and Pre-Calculus.) Her exams are 15 questions and she makes reviews
I am so bad at math that I waited until the last semester of my senior year to take college algebra, and I was still able to make a B with professor couvillion. I would 100% recommend.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF U ARE A VISUAL LEARNER! Couvillion was such a caring and well rounded prof. She actually taught u the subject and explained the steps unlike other prof. Attend her lectures! U can't do the extra credit or test reviews if u didn't attend bc it comes specifically from the notes. She gives u many opportunities to boost ur grade.
Must attend class and take notes. Test reviews are given with 15 question tests. Only down fall is homework for the section would be due on one day.
Professor Couvillion''s class was great. Nothing special, but she explained really well and allowed us to ask questions. Her grading policy was clear but not harsh.
Broke everything concept down multiple different ways allowing for a true learning experience. Attendance required, but honestly for calculus I think if you don't go to class you won't pass. She grades as light as she can while not slacking off and truly cares about her students as long as you make an effort. One of the better professors I've had.
Couvillion made me truly understand and enjoy Algebra. She goes super slow and has great examples. All her homework is on McGraw HillShe has 4 exams that are difficult based on your knowledge of math and depending on how you study. She also has a project at the end of the year that if completed, will drop your lowest exam grade.
She gave lots of homework, little extra credit, doesn't drop grades, strict deadlines, and hard tests; but she did explain things in a well, slow and consice way
Go to class, but attendance isn't mandatory (you have like 8 excused absences)
This was the best professor I have ever taken at Texas State. She made me love math. She made her lectures very easy to follow. attendance is mandatory but she makes you were to show up. TAKE HER!!!!
I think Professor Couvillion is a very good teacher. I love how she uses her iPad for lectures, it almost makes everything clearer to see and understand. She is a very intelligent woman and everyone in the class respected her.
Mrs. Couvillion is so amazing! She's so kind and she does a really great job at explaining everything. If you are someone that struggles with math I definitely recommend taking her class. Her quizzes are only about 5 questions each and they're on line, and her tests are fairly easy as well. Definitely a fantastic professor.
Literally the best that a professor can be. Great at teaching, understanding, and just an overall wonderful person. You will be glad you had her.
took her class because of the ratings however they are inaccurate. She takes no time to explain a process, expects us to understand a concept after one problem, adds elements to her homework that were never discussed, and is only accessible during class and her abysmal office hours where she only tells you what you did wrong or right.
this professor fails to explain several concepts and leaves us in the dark regarding several processes. do not take this course unless you're willing to go into problems blindly.
She is the best teacher I have had in my entire education. She'll take time to make sure you understand the material and answer any questions you have without making you feel inept. She gives plenty of partial credit; if you show some work, she'll award nearly full credit, ignoring simple miscalculations.
Mrs.Couvillion is amazing! Easily the best math professor I have ever had. I normally struggle to grasp mathematic concepts but she explained things clearly and provided lots of room for practice. Attendance is a grade, but it is meant to help rather than hurt. She is very understanding about providing missed notes. I can't recommend her enough!
Easily the best professor I've ever had. She was funny and gave amazing lectures. Her tests consists of the easiest problems of the sections. As long as you study and do the work you'll pass. I only got a C because she drops the lowest test score. I didn't study for the last test and did bad on the final.
I'm normally not good at math, but professor Couvillion made things simple to understand. She was also willing to explain things again and answer any questions we asked. Tests are hard, but she gives very useful study guides that tell you exactly what will be on the test. Overall great professor, and if you show up you'll pass.
She explains the content in her lectures really well and is always willing to help in and outside of class. Overall a kind and helpful professor. Gives extra credit but be sure to attend class and get notes as the extra credit came from the notes taken in class. Notes were never posted.
Dr. Couvillian is truly incredible. She teaches math in a way that in understandable. Other than tests the only assignments were in class TopHat questions for attendance and homework which is extremely important to do. If you take her, you'll be well equipped with the resources to succeed. she's also really funny.
She was great! As long as you have the notes printed out or on something you can write on and follow along with you'll be good.
I took 1315 with a different professor the semester before I took it with her and I dropped it, i failed the first test horribly and was so discouraged until I realized it really did matter on the professor. Currently sitting at a B because of the way she teaches.
I took her for College Algebra. Hands down the best math teacher I've had in years. The class was definitely still a struggle but she made the concepts easy to understand.
She is great at explaining concepts so if you struggle in math take her she will help! Tests are short only about 21 questions. Extra credit offered as replacement grade. Attendance matters if you want your notes.
She definitely gives a lot of opportunities to have a grade in this class. She teaches algebra as if you were teaching a kindergartener. You shouldn't fail unless you absolutely pay no attention at all. Attendance isn't required but definitely still go her lectures have a lot of information you can use for assignments.
Attendance is mandatory because she uses Top Hat and records your responses as grades for each class day. Honestly though, she does a super good job explaining everything and is straight to the point. This class goes fast because she has to cover a ton of information, so if math is not your strong suite, be prepared.
Very good teacher, I have always been pretty bad at math but Ms. Couvillion worked through problems in a way that was very easy to understand. I think she was my favorite professor I had this semester, you won't regret taking her course.
I don't know what these other people are on. I loved math, but then I had her. She is not kind at all, and when I would go to her office hours, she made me feel like I was on her nerves. You have a little over 2 weeks to do 2 quizzes, a 20ish page packet, and about a 50-question online homework. If you take her, I'll be praying for you.
I'm not the greatest at math, but she explains in great detail with thorough explanation. She does teach at a fast pace, but that is just because there is a lot of material. Three tests make up the bulk of your grade, so it is imperative to do well on them, but there is a project that could replace your lowest test, which will boost your grade.
Mrs. Couvillion has unrealistic expectations for her class, does not give formula sheets or allow a notecard, will blame by yelling at students when 70% of the class failed a test. I had a really hard time adapting to this style of teaching due to my ADHD and would absolutely not recommend this class for anyone that struggles with math.
You lose points every class you don't go to, it affects your grade. The homework is a lot, but they are completion, so turn it in on time for easy hundreds. She lectures the entire class till the end, it is a lot to take in, she goes fast and expects you to know math before taking this class. Doesn't allow notecards or formula sheets. Good luck..
She would rush topics and try to cram multiple into one lecture period. When doing TopHat questions, she would not give us enough time, rushing through each problem. She wanted us to succeed and was sometimes funny, but would give us so much to remember that we would forget, and then be passive-aggressive about the class not answering later.
Absolute easy class, perhaps she makes it so easy. She is so caring and a very very lenient grader. 5/5 from her spring 2024 student.
I struggle heavily with math and was able to get out with a B in this course. Attendance code was taken everyday but you really should attend lectures anyways. This course is a bit difficult but the reviews are just like the exam and you are able to do a project/packet to replace your lowest test grade. Your given a scantron & test with exams
homework's are longer than the test which is unfair. They're lengthy and you forget what you learned on the test easily. Professor is passive aggressive.
crams a lot into lectures and before test so its kinda confusing
She's a very good lecturer and teaches topics very well. Unfortunately there's just so much content in Calc 1 that every section just feels so rushed. You learn a topic and move on the next day with a homework assignment on it and labwork. That being said she is very kind and wants you to learn, its just a tough class.
Professor Couvillion is an amazing professor. Her lectures are interesting and engaging. The exam questions are similar to the homework and lab questions. There was also a curve for all the exams, and she also gave a lot of extra credit opportunities. She slays!!
She is the best professor you can have in TXST. As you go higher into your classes, I can guarantee you you wont get a better professor than her. Just everything perfecto!!!!!!
Mrs. Couvillion is a great professor. She is very clear during lectures and leaves time for questions to be answered. The class is note-heavy. If you pay attention during class and write down what she puts on the board you will find the notes helpful. There is a good amount of homework, but it's easy to manage. Exams are similar to notes and HW.
if you could avoid this professor i would. now if you are a math person, i guess it would not be as bad. she showed up with pneumonia, belittles you when you ask for help, basically had our final drop everyone's average 5 points even if we passed. very rude, and not very helpful because she expects you to understand it immediately.
I've never met a professor that was so passive aggressive towards her students. Every time you didn't know something she'd make you feel like an idiot for not knowing. Im usually good with algebra, but she makes it so much more difficult to grasp. She expects you to know everything on the top of your head, and never explains the problems throughly.
very good at teaching for sure. however she does teach at what I and other friends felt was very fast paced. I felt like because she felt some people understood then everyone understood as well. can occasionally be passive aggressive. if you're a fast learner then you should be fine
I previously failed this class with another professor, but Prof. is awesome! There is a lot of homework so beware, however you can turn it in at anytime for 70%. She gives a test replacement project that is crazy easy. There is TopHat questions in class that if you miss will deduct from your grade, so miss class wisely. Super cool and chill.
She was a good professor. Her class is very lecture heavy, has a lot of homework, and only three tests were administered plus the final exam. It was a fairly fast paced course, but I felt she explained the course material well. There is a test replacement project she makes available at the beginning of the course, that helps improve your grade.
Attendance is mandatory since we have in class activities. She is very lecture heavy so come prepared with your notes packets. Homework is easy and she is very good at responding to emails if you need help. Studying is needed for her class since there is so much information to retain.
She gives partial credit on exams and bonus questions. She does a good job of providing examples and explaining the material. She can make jokes that feel almost judgmental of students' intelligence, but other than that a great professor. Going to her office hours is definitely beneficial.
I really enjoyed taking her class this semester, so much that I'm taking her for Calc 2. Do the HW they are jest like the test/quiz. You get lab packets to do during lab which are also helpful. She lectures every class so you might not want to miss class. She gives extra credit opportunities! She's a good professor to ask for rec letters from!
If you put in the effort you will pass. She is very accessible outside of class and always willing to answer questions. Attendance is the points from in-class participation but you can make up the points if you miss. average amount of homework but not too bad
Her lectures are very clear and helpful in understanding the material. She gives homework for every section which is good practice for tests. Her tests are very easy as she would give some questions that would be in a middle school math class.
Really good math teacher. She taught like my high school math teacher which I loved. Really detailed with the notes and she would help if you emailed her questions about the homework. She was very kind and helpful especially with a class of 420 kids.
Great professor and overall easy course. Honestly, I felt like her lectures were pretty slow but it allowed for everyone to thoroughly understand. If you miss a homework due date, you can still turn it in for 70%. Tests were easy and short and allowed for up to a 105.
She was amazing! Very clear with what to study and provided great concise reviews. She also was super caring and offered lots of help if anyone was lost. She obviously has a great understanding in mathematics and was a great way to start off the semester :)
This is the hardest math class for no reason. I've never been bad at math until this point and barely passed. The tests are soooo hard. The only way you could pass this class is to be a prodigy and REALLY pay attention. Also, she moves on from material way too fast and only filled out notes in a work book.
I am horrible at math and was dreading taking this class but she made it make so much sense. She is funny, engaging and always so positive.
Fantastic Professor, she really cares about her students. She will make time. In class to do examples with us and gives amazing feedback and makes great jokes. Couldn't recommend more, made Calculus 2 easy.
Mrs. Couvillion was very engaging and made math lectures actually enjoyable. Even though she doesn't curve test grades, she offered extra credit points on every test that really helped! Overall one of my favorite teachers
Taught class well, and had clear guidelines. Im just really bad at math so i was confused for alot of the semester. GO TO CLASS!!! the attendance grade is based off participation, super important and can boost your grade.
I highly recommend Professor Couvillion for Math 1315 as someone whose math isn't my forte. She is an excellent teacher. You will surely pass her class by committing to attending classes; attendance is key to passing this class. Attend tutoring sessions! They helped me tremendously to stay on track with my grades and studying for the finals.
Dude, just take her class. She genuinely cares and teaches so well. One of my favorite professors. Homework every week, but you can get it wrong as many times as you want until you get the correct answer. Tests aren't difficult. Just show up, listen to her lecture, and have the paper notes printed out before class.
As someone who struggles in math, I loved her class! She's very caring, and you can tell she truly loves teaching. Just show up to her lectures and pay attention. She assigns homework every week, but you get unlimited attempts. Attendance isn't required, but participation does count toward your grade.
Mrs. Couvillion is SO sweet, caring and funny. I'm quite frankly awful at math and while I'm still not great at it, she made it understandable whereas I've had teachers who don't GAF. She cares for you and your grade! She's always easy to contact outside of class. Her class is very HW heavy, but you can answer it as many times as you need.
Take her class! Attendance is mandatory but like just show up (u literally paying for ts) take notes, and if youre struggling go to her office hours. She actually explains the reason behind the math concepts and explains the topics very well. The test are only 14 questions with built in with extra credit (50 min class)
She is great! I would definitely take her. There is 2 to 3 homework's a week but you have to have that in order to learn the material in any math, they are unlimited attempts and not hard. The test are 15 questions multiple choice. there is an extra credit project that can add points to test category and she drops the lowest test grade.
If you struggle with math as much as i do then i recommend this professor. She explains it very well and does not miss any instructions regarding what we are working on. NOW BE AWARE- her class is EXTREMELY TEST HEAVY it is worth 45% of your grade with the final being 20%, so be prepared to study for the exams. USE THE STUDY SESSIONS!!! Loved her!
This class was really hard for me I'm use to getting all A's but it was difficult there 4 test u have to study if you don't u will not do good on the test she a good teacher the tests are just weighted high and it's so much info to learn
This class was very hard for me and that's because I am not really good at math but there's 2-3 assignments every week. Also I highly encourage you to study for the exams because it is weighted heavy and playing around will drop your grade. Overall, she's okay tho and she cares about her students.
Mrs. Couvillon is awesome! I highly recommend her to anyone that is able to take her classes. She explains everything in a way that you can understand even without background knowledge. She has plenty of examples and practice and is always available for questions inside of class and through email/office hours. Absolutely no complaints!
I am bad at math but she made it easy. Her explaining of math is very understandable and clear. She prepares you for tests with reviews and it's almost identical to the tests. Her final was a breeze for me. There is a good amount of homework and attendance is important for good understanding.
She is a great math professor if you're nervous to take algebra. Lectures are easy to understand with a note packet done in class. Gives test reviews really similar to tests. Tests are sometimes easier than you think. Uses tophat in class for attendance points, drops 5 tophats (basically can get 5 absences) Very caring and understanding! TAKE HER!
