She is one of the best profs I have had here...she makes stats easy to learn. She dresses like a teen and is kind of flaky but she can be pretty funny. I don't know why people are rating her as hot though...the lady is like 50 something guys!

Fireman is cooky in the best way, she makes math semi-fun and can make an entire lecture hall crack up. She is EXTREMELY fair.

Explains things so that anyone can understand. Course is very organized and logical, plus it's useful. Loved the incomplete notes.

Plus take advantage of bonuses and extra credit- which she gives a lot of.. be prepared to laugh a lot in class- she's a funnt lady.

I think I'm in love! She is too funny, but at the same time gives great examples so you understand everthing. Her lecture notes are all printed up in a notebook, so there is no rushing to take down notes. She is GREAT!

This was one of my favorite classes! I am horrible at math, and I got an A in Stats thanks to Prof. Fireman! Don't take Stats with anyone other teacher! There is only 1 online assignment per week, so the workload is very manageable. You learn a lot in the class too.

Hilarious lady with really random funny anecdotes and she is just so cheerful and so hot. Believe the others. Do not take Stats with anyone else, and make sure you take Stats for ur Quant class. EASY!!!

Very clear and straight forward teaching! you will realize STAT's not that horrible at all in her class. Go class, study her lecture, and do practice exam you can get an A on exam. Very helpfrul teacher! take SATA with her!

I suck at anything that has to do with numbers (I'm an English major), but she was so good at explaining the material that I found it easy to understand. If you need a math credit and you suck at math, take stats with Professor Fireman- you'll be glad you did.

I LOVE HER! By far the funniest and easiest class I've ever taken. She give ex. credit out the wazoo, and most of the ex. credit is surveys. Homework can get tricky, but the TA office hours are really helpful, and you can take the homework as many times over as you want until it is due. Take the practice exams!!!

Rated one of the best professors by the DI for a reason. She makes math interesting and cares about her students. She participates in student activities, like Greek Charity/Philan events, which shows how much she loves her students.

Alrite, I went to the first lecture and didn't go to the rest...just seemed so boring to me. The lectures are online. The class isn't incredibly easy(I would know, I'm asian, I went to the tests totally blind, not a good idea)...you actually have to do the homework and study. Study a day or two ahead of time and you'll do fine. I got an A. Easy

i went to a total of 3 out of like 30 lectures and got an A. class is not hard but you DO have to put SOME time into it a day or two before the tests. She gives you everything you need to get an A. her practice exams are just like the real ones. definately take it with fireman.

She was so much fun and the class is easy, take it as a senior for an easy gen ed! Three tests and you have to take the final. Lots of online homework.

AMAZING!!!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FROM ANYONE ELSE!!! Lectures are VERY entertaining- she is a crazy lady (in a good way) but there is almost no need to go if you don't want. If you cant get a C in this class... then you HONESTLY do not belong at this university and you should go back to Jr. High. My test average is 97%. AMAZING class.

pretty easy class, but don't take it as a blowoff, you should study, it doesn't have to be that much but go over lectures before you do homework and study a little before test and you should get an A. I got a A- because I completely blew off all the hour exams but when I actually studied for the final I smashed it. DO EXTRA CREDIT, SO YOU GET AN A!

Amazing class...I actually enjoyed statistics by the time I was done. Makes things VERY clear, and lectures are always entertaining. She's hilarious. And always willing to help you, or direct you to a place where you can get help. Easy, but study for tests. And do all the extra credit, I would've gotten an A+ if I had!

if youre going to take stats, take it with fireman!!! i rarely go to class and have gotten A's on all the online homework and exams so far. Her lectures are pretty boring, but she puts the notes up online. And I would take the class with a friend. It made life much easier when I could study for the exams with a group.

Ellen Fireman is amazing!!! I only went to the first 2 lectures of the semester and I've gotten 100% on the exams and the homework. She's really clear on the material and all of her notes are posted online, so there's no reason to go to class. Do the practice exams!! They're exactly like the real exams. she's a babe too

I would definitely recommend this class! I am not a math person at all, but even I ended up with an A. Homework is very easy, and she posts notes online at the end of every week so you really don't have to go to class. So worth it.

Extremely easy. If you can't get an A in this class, you shouldn't be going to UofI. I'd say she's somewhat attractive too...keep in mind though, if you were to look up "old cougar" in the dictionary, you'd see her picture (ie, attractive, but old...and I mean old)

As easy as it gets - the only people who didn't get A's were either huge slackers or just really really dumb. Fireman's funny, smart, and a very good teacher. She looks like a hot college student from the back, but her face definitely gives her age away (warning to all smokers).

I love math, so naturally this class was a good fit. Professor Fireman took the class to a completely different level though. She is an incredible teacher that explains things clearly so that everyone can understand and do well. She genuinely cares about her students, makes lectures fun, and has an unbelievable life story. Take her class!

She is an awesome teacher. She looks great for her age and she can teach. Best of all, there's no textbook and only a lecture note packet. It's not a super easy class, you still have to do the work. You CAN get a B in this class if you slack off and don't keep up with the lectures and homework. Take advantage of extra credit surveys.

Great instructor. Attendance is probably not mandatory, but her quirky sense of humor and excellent teaching ability make it worthwhile to go to class. Homework is online and very manageable, and exams are easy. The incomplete lecture notes are quite helpful. She looks and sounds a bit like Maud Adams.

Incredibly easy class. I've never been that good at math, but I've gotten A's and an A+ on all of my exams. She teaches everything in a way that you can easily comprehend and uses real-life examples. I never liked math, but this class is pretty interesting. If you need a stats class for your major, take this section! DONT BUY THE TEXTBOOK.

Easiest class I have taken on this campus. I went to class the first day and never showed up again. Follow online by doing the Homework/EC and Fill out the Notes. Tests are straight from the study guides and practice tests in the notes packet so if you can do those, hello A+!

I can't describe how much I loved this professor and this class. I am by no means a math person but because of Fireman, I can honestly say that I enjoyed Statistics. It's definitely easy and I would recommend attending every lecture to fully understand the material. It's worth going anyways because she has hilarious stories.

EXCELLENT class. This was so enjoyable and I learned so much. She is a great professor. Every lecture I cracked up at least 10 times. She is one of my top 5 favorite people ever. Plus, the other Stat 100 prof is hard and boring from what I have heard. Take this class.

Overall a fair and easy class that gets the information across in a simple way. You learn a lot and your grade will be good. Lectures must be attended to get the notes and the weekly homework is pretty easy. There's lots of extra credit and the exams are very fair. Oh and for her age Fireman is hot!

she's tries very hard to help her students understand the material. she's hilarious and seems to be really passionate about stats. she gives bonus points out like no other. homework is always relevant to the material learned in class and the exams aren't difficult either.

She was very effective at teaching and using real-life examples to foster understanding. There was tons of opportunity of extra credit. She sometimes goes on long tangents which can be frustrating when you're sitting in an hour 20 min class, but she's quite funny at times.

She really simplifies the material. Gives study guides that are literally like the exams, no trick questions. Also has tons of opportunities for extra credit. She's funny and has quite some stories to tell. Doesn't really answer emails.

Excellent prof. She wrote the book which is a spiral bound print-off that sells for like $18, so you save money. For someone like myself who doesn't care about stats, she made the class really interesting because she discussed other subjects while explaining the material. Now I teach a college level course and I strive to be like her.

Fireman was GREAT!! I really want to stress that this class definitely isn't a easy A or Blow off class. There is homework twice a week. And that homework prepares you for the exams. But she also gives study guides for each exam. Exam 1-3 are fairly easy (If you study). But there is a 100 question FINAL!

The HW in this class (Stat Math 161) was rediculous. A third of the class disappeared by midterms. DON'T TAKE IT!

Such an easy class, all you have to do is go to class, pay attention, fill out the workbook (copy her notes) and youll have an A. Homework was annoying, but if you do the practice exam there is no way you cannot get an A on the tests.

Fireman is kind of a crazy hippy, but you can't help but love her. She tries to entertain you every class and use relevant examples for statistics. If you take at least practice exam, you should be able to get an A on every exam.

One of the easiest classes I've taken so far! Fireman gives you every chance to ace the class, including tons of extra credit, around 7 practice exams per exam, and goes over multiple examples per topic. I have never paid attention during her class (except when she is saying something ridiculous), but if you do even 1 practice exam it's an easy A.

One of the best teachers that I've had at U of I. She truly cares about how students perform in her class. I think that it is a testament to her teaching style that so many students think her class is easy. She also makes stats interesting!

Doing the workbook, homework and massive amounts of extra credit are sure to earn you an A in this class. Fireman is a little quirky and might be too slow for faster paced learners, but all the same the class is relatively easy and practical as well. Definitely recommend for those needing a QR class or a GPA booster.

The class is interesting and fireman creates most of the material herself. She teaches in a way that gets my attention and I wish most teachers taught like her. She understands that different students learn differently and that we do not like those boring text books that take forever to get the point across.

Very helpful, clearest math educator I've ever met. Very passionate about teaching. Wrote the textbook herself. You will learn concepts, not just formulas. Go to office hours! You will get an A if you go there, they will explain everything. Videos of the course are offered online so you can miss classes and not fall far behind.

I think she is a fairly good lecturer. Sometimes, it gets really boring and tiring going to class, she is really funny and makes Statistics interesting. It is worth taking the course. I recommend it. You can just watch videos at home if you just want to take a nap.

Fireman is really helpful & she uses interesting examples. Still like in any math class the temptation to fall asleep is real. A lot of people say it is easy A, but I guess that's true if you're naturally great at math. I had to work for it but it wasn't impossible. You can guarantee like a 2% overall grade raise if you do all the bonus work.

This class was easy as long as the lectures were watched and the homework was done. If you do what's required it's an easy A.

Fireman is very nice but sometimes confusing in the way she explains things. The material isn't too hard though and you can figure out what's going on by following her examples in the textbook. All lecture videos are posted online so attendance is not mandatory but you can get extra credit with clicker questions.

Online lectures are very clear and easy to follow. Class itself covers a lot of material and can be a little difficult but she prepares you for the exams really well and provides lots of resources for studying. Require work to do well but I learned a lot in this class.

Taking Fireman's STAT200 this semester, and I'm pretty sure I would like to take her classes again. She is organized in explaining stuffs, and provides detailed study guides for each exam. It should be a fun class even if you didn't have fun with math in the previous, and it prepares me well for stat400/410.

Online lectures were good and very clear. Caring and a funny professor, if possible, take online with her rather than in person with a TA, the videos are clutch.

I was in the lecture that she taught and there was a small amount of extra credit offered for showing up (the extra credit offered in the class is pretty useless and does not improve your grade). The lectures were also posted online so you could watch them for a refresher or if you skipped class. Super conservative and does not hide her politics

She's ok. I do wonder if she deliberately kept some mistakes in the book though. The mistakes have been there for at least a year because lectures last semester showed that there were mistakes too.

Lots of homework, some of which feels quite tedious. The instructor does a good job of presenting the material using examples and working through problems. The exams were easy and there were plenty of extra credit opportunities.

Took ONL section. Was impressed with the course structure. Her lectures go off of a workbook, id buy it (around $20). Homework is very fair and is often exactly what is done in lectures. . Lectures can be long, but the ability to pause and pick back up later is a major plus. I wish she taught stat 400 so i can have a similar experience there.
