This lady is ridiculous. Why bother giving your students a study guide if you DO NOT use any of that information on your EXAM. You are wasting our time! BAD TEACHER!
haha, I'll bet the person who posted before me is in my class!! Her tests are ridiculously hard, especially for a GER class.. more understandable, I guess, if it's for my major, but it's not! DON'T TAKE HER! YOU'LL ONLY GET STRESSED OUT AND FAIL!!!
She is a difficult teacher she has a lot of expectations, but she is a very knowledgable in her field and i find her class EXTREMELY interesting. She is a great person and i would recommend her class to anyone! She is willing to help all the time just ask!
OMG she sucks soooo bad! Her midterm was impossible and had nothing to do with the study guide given...and she always has you do completely unrelated group work wher nobody talks abou the subject matter...a complete waste of three credits!
Dr: Ellen Ingmanson is one of the best professor in this school, you can get A if you kill your self studying.I am a freshman and my first language is not Englisg that's why i am doing bad,the test are so hard for me,but i like how she teach you learn alot
Good teacher, very nice. Midterm sucked, but it's a very interesting class! Pushes monkey culture into class, but at least its kind of on topic. Seems like a nice person though, very knowledgable!!
Most of the class is failing, her tests are really hard.
NONONONO! Do not pass go, do not collect $200, do not take her! The whole class is failing and she says she is disappointed in US. NOT very kind on a one on one basis. Her questions on the test are so vague that you could choose any of the answers.
she sucks!!!!! DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES!!

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Won't stop talking about Monkeys. Is far far far too into it for an GER. Tests are horrible, mult. choice with answers from a-h, and doesn't care if you're failing. Avoid at all costs.
Do not take this class unless you want to learn period. Most people take GERs for a good grade, if so then Ingmanson is not for you. I came out of the class with a B and without studying that much. A monkey is not Primate btw...
The class was very interesting, a bit obsessed with monkeys to say the least. The tests were such a killer, everyone failed her tests. multiple choice questions could logicly be answered by any of the options, if you study A LOT you'll do well
Stay away!!! I have a very high GPA and couldn't make sense of her lectures or tests. She seems to hate men and middle and upper class white people. She loses control of her class, then gets pissed. REALLY....Stay Away!!!!!!!
She's a great professor! She listens, she cares, you learn so much from her! She's tough, but this was nearly a 400 level class so U expect it. She's sane and logical and really cares about her work & U learn. Tough but Great!

YOU NEEEEEEEED to keep up with the readings if you want to pass. She lectures all the time, and never asks if the class understands the material. She is helpful if you go to her, she explains what you need to do,just dont wait till the end of the semester
I like her a lot, though it took a little while to get used to her. To anyone still doubting, I say, just give her a chance. Her Primates class RULES. If I could suggest one thing, MAKE SURE YOU KEEP UP WITH THE READINGS!! :)
awesome class. great teacher. if you do your reading you are sure to pass. very interesting stuff. one small paper too, but it's a piece of cake. she really knows her stuff..
She is quick to tell students they are wrong& her multiple choice midterm was horrible how can you have in your choice. D: all the above, e:none of the above, f;all the above except an and b.all the above except a.She doesn't always knows what she talks about,& she also contradicts her self in class
let the scores speak for it self. she said the average for the class was a 68. i think its her teaching and the really bad exam she gave. its not that one didnt know the materical, it was how she worded it on the exam. when the average is that low, its the prof and not the students problem.
I like Dr. Ingmanson very much personally. i also think that she is good at teaching her material. the problem, as you can see from the other ratings, is her grading and testing style. i got a 62 on a midterm and it was the best in the class. and the multi's are confusing. I still swung an A- though

this lady is one of the worst teachers i have ever had her test are rediclous and she wonders why more then 50% of her class is failing...lady is awful NEVER take her!!!!
i do not care for her exams nor teaching .. material was interesting though... glad its over
her exams are horrible and difficult. they do not show if one knows the material or not, they are inefficient tests of knowledge and those multiple choose part of the exams are outrageous. On a positive note, the material was interesting and mind blowing.
I got a C on one exam..not impressed nor happy. I studied and read all the readings, too. I do not like her exams at all. most people in her class didn't do well, so I heard.
She sucks! Her tests are so hard. The hardest part is multiple choice-seriously. They are worth two points each and i got mostly those wrong because they are confusing, I did well on everything else but it wasnt good enough. The class average was a 62% and I never got higher than a 70. Be Afraid...!
yes i agrees with that other person. i got a79 on the exam and i studied and read all the readings.muti choice stink, very hard and confusing.Iwas not happy with my grade.i knew the material but her questions do not show to her what you know.she was amazed at how much of the class did bad.ya-right
Here is some advise, don't take her class. The study guide she passes out does not help for the exams. The questions are never on the exams.the paper she makes you write is assigned much to late.DoN't have enough time to write a decent essay. You go through the class with a blindfold.
Took for Forensics, Primatology, & Race, Class & Gender. Very interesting lady with a lot of interesting experiences. Gives good notes, but expect a lot of memorization, studying & reading. NOT FOR SLACKERS. Presents diff. points of view & covers a lot of material. Must pay attent. & come to class!

Classes were extremely boring. Only had two tests the entire semester...multiple choice/short essay. You mess up on one test and your done for. Tests were worded to be difficult and was an overall boring class. Ended up with a B-. Wouldn't take her again..good luck staying awake!
I started this class thinking I was going to hate it, but it wasn't so bad. As others have stated, the tests are pretty hard. I hated the mapping part of the tests! The material is pretty interesting, and she does give opportunities for extra credit. She explains things well and obviously enjoys the subject. She's very nice, too. Got an A-.
This class is not as hard as everyone here would lead you to believe. The tests are difficult, and there are two midterms and a final, but almost every day I learned some odd fact in the class that I could talk about at...parties, perhaps. Anyway, not such a bad class.
She is a tough teacher who does not giveexamples written out just spoken words.
Dr. Ingmanson is one of the best Anthropology teachers I have had at Bridgewater State. Her lectures are interesting and informative. You will learn an wealth of knowledge in her classes if you put time and effort into them. She expects a lot from her students, however this is to be expected in college. She is an excellent professor, do not let others deter you from taking a class with her. Study hard and do the required readings and you will be successful in her class.
dooooooo NOT take this teacher!! IMPOSSIBLE test, hardest midterm I have ever taken... study guide is completely false- trick questions all over the place. real real hard teacher, not fair AT ALL
Lets just say the highest grade out of the whole class (about 40 kids) for her midterm was a 73. Then lectured the whole hour about how we need to think about changing our study habits. All 40 of us? Ok, crazy. Enough said.
if you are reading to see if you should take this class or teacher NO! don't do it! it will be the biggest mistake ever!!!! shes beyond unreasonable.. do not take it I am telling you!!!!!
class could be fun.. she sucks and doesnt help u... i had to go to a funeral cause a cibling passed away... i missed a test... and she wouldnt let me take it cause "its her rule". she makes it boring sometimes i have trouble staying awake... worst teacher ever.
Don't let the other comments fool you. Ingmanson is an exellent teacher. Her lectures are very informative and she makes in interesting for the students. Slide shows, photo albums, skulls, and movies are also used. Make sure you take good notes for her tests. If you're the type of student that does their work, you'll be fine. TAKE HER!!
She is a great person; sincerely cares about her students learning the material. She knows how to weed out the people who don't put the effort in by all of her assignments, BUT she gives extra credit to make up for any assignments you missed or got low scores on. If you are not interested in Anthropology then this is the wrong GER prof for you!
I really do not know what crazy people are giving her good ratings- SHE IS SO UNCLEAR, her tests are IMPOSSIBLE, this IS the worst possible GER, do not take this class!!!!
she is a good lecturer and knows her stuff but her tests are horrible.her wording on her tests are unclear and misleading.
She does give informed lectures but her tests are horriable and confusing to say the least...I only took her once and that was enough....
She demands a lot of work, and is not for the faint of heart. If you do the work, she gives you a good grade. I like her method of mulitple tests, and mini papers rather than 2 huge tests and one big paper. It makes it easier if you are having a rough week and don't do well on one thing. She asks a lot, but is not overly difficult. I got an A-
Horrible. Very opinionated person and very stuck up. Her tests are worded very weird and she has something against men i believe because she will always interrupt them and give her opinion on a subject.
The lady loves her monkeys. If you like monkeys- she'll love you too.
Learned interesting facts, but the class put me to sleep. Tests, VERY hard. Odd wording, trick questions, the study sheet not much help. Offered a good ammount of extra credit and v. enthusiastic about the subject. Don't take if you won't study for a few hours for a test or watch 1-2 hour movies on your own time to right a 1 pg paper.
She is very hard, but if you keep up with the work and go to class it shows in the grade. She has a vast knowledge in this subject and it shows in every lecture. I learned a LOT. Primates, evolution etc. are her passions so I have no idea what she's like in other subjects, but if this stuff interests you then you will enjoy her.
She was very knowlegdeable but her tests were the worst I ever taken. She wants to trick you. She is hard person to get help from. She knows her stuff but I never cared for her way of testing.
She is a very good teacher but yes she is hard, this is also college. If you're planning on skipping mad classes or not doing homework your probably gonna fail. All you have to do is show up, take notes, and actually put some time and effort into studying and you'll do fine.
Prof. Ingmanson is a good teacher; just don't take this class if Biological Anthropology isn't your thing. It IS hard and it IS a lot of work, but if you put the time in, it pays off. Oh! and do all the extra credit - it pays off at the end!
Worst teacher EVER. She doesnt take time to make sure you comprhend what she is teaching. Just a horrible class and professor. Dont take this class or her as a professor.
She blows...worst class ever even if you do the work...she puts you to sleep and hates when your late and talk...she doesnt even let you use the bathroom without leaving class for good. do not take this class if you wnat to stay sane.
worst teacher ever.. do yourself a favor do not take her. if you stay awake in her class you deserve an A, but you wont.
You'll need the textbooks she assigns. She's sweet, enthusiastic and very helpful if you ask questions. She expects you to try. Tough grader with essays, but clear with what she expects. Show some interest in the topic, attend class, participate in discussion occasionally and do the work, you'll be fine.
Prof. Ingmanson is incredibly intelligent. I am really into primatology and evolution; and her class really cascaded my interest. Since she has been in the field studying Bonobos herself, she is wicked experienced and is able to speak intelligently on the topic. I would highly recommend her classes (Primates, Bio Anthro, Forensic Anthro); great pro
Extraordinarily interesting class. I really enjoyed learning the material. Shes a little weird, but shes smart. For a 100-level course, the amount of material covered was insane. If I wasnt interested in the topic, I would have been mad. 3 tests w/maps, occasional announced quizzes, 3or4 1-3 page papers, 2 1-hour videos to watch on your own time
You have to be an anthro. major or have an interest in her classes to enjoy them. I've taken two with her already and a third this coming semester. She's very intelligent and the topics are interesting. You'll learn a lot, but don't take her classes if you think it will be an easy A.
Her class is somewhat easy to sit through, she gives lots of realitvly easy assignments, but she only has a mid term and a final, so they are jam packed full of information
Highly boring. She goes off on tangents about Africa and Japan a lot. Isn't really clear about assignments/ explaining things. Doesn't care if you show up to class although recommends that you do. Relies mainly on comparing things to the 3 mandatory books for class.
Does not give assignments in enough time to do them well, not clear about things she assigns, takes weeks to enter grades online or hand back things she has corrected. Tests are unclear and tricky and she forbids people to go to the bathroom during class, and may drop you from the class without telling you. Do not take her if you can help it.
Just be nice to her and she'll be nice to you. Her tests are pretty hard, but she does give study guides. If you try, you'll do fine. A few assignments that aren't too hard either. I took her for biological anthropology. I would take her again, she's pretty reasonable. Boring sometimes, but aren't they all.
This was one of my hardest courses. Overall I would say she is a good teacher. However she can go fast at times. Pay attention and take good notes from the board. Tests were hard but as long as you study you should do well. I absolutely hated the class but she was ok. WORK HARD if you have her and want to pass with a decent grade
. . .
Great teacher. Very intelligent and knows her stuff. She is very passionate about her work and it shows. Her tests and quizzes are easy as long as you study. I learned a lot.
Great Prof. knows what she's doing, gives useful assignments, easy tests, shows many interesting videos in class about the material. Explains important points... Must read a lot though, but at least makes good use of your money you spend w the books.
Dr. Ingmanson is extremely intelligent and has a great command for the subject material. Clearly, if you do not read, study, or do the assigned work you will do poorly in the class. She is fair, concise, and clear. Highly recommended.
She rarely passes anything back in a reasonable period of time( I mean weeks) which leaves you in limbo. Expects everything on time no excuses, doesn't matter if you have a doctors note. Shemay well know her stuff but is awkward in her ways.
This is first day of classes and I'm dropping this one. Intended it as GER but the workload is going to be ridiculous. She is obviously intelligent and if you are an Anthro you will probably like it. If assignments are submitted online but you are then absent for class, they are marked down 10 points, so basically attendence is mandatory.
Awful with her rules. First day of classes some poor freshman walked in 45 seconds late (Literally...clock right over the door) and she was berated. Attendance mandatory. Tardiness not acceptable. Hope you don't have to use the restroom because if you step out you aren't allowed back. Don't take her unless you're anthro. Even then, be wary.
Horrible teacher has little respect for her students... If you are not an anthro major don't take it.
I have had this professor for four anthropology classes and definitely plan on taking more! I dont know what everyone is complaining about...I find her to be very clear and concise with her lectures and her expectations. She is also very willing to help. She is challenging, but we are college level; its to be expected. Learned very interesting fact
Professor Ingmanson is an incredibly intelligent, learned woman who is passionate about her field. If you are not an Anthro major, I don't really recommend taking it because she tries very hard to make well-rounded Anthro students. The work is not THAT hard, people...jeez. She does have strict attendance polices, but is very easy to talk to.
Doesn't treat the course as an intro course!
Tough course, but I learned a lot. It's intro, but there's so much to cover in a short period. Clear with what she expects. Tons of extra credit opportunities. Very knowledgeable about her subjects. Doesn't sugarcoat, but will help you if you ask questions.
While the class may be difficult for those without any prior knowledge or interest in the field... for those who plan to take the course to actually learn something, and not mindlessly get an A, prof. Ingmanson is an amazing teacher who provides every opportunity for students to excel in the course.
took this class as a humanities. i regret doing it. i thought it would be an easy class but this woman takes primates seriously (she's a primatologist) tests were hard even if you study. 1 zoo observation + 1 species paper/presentation. if you need a humanities choose carefully. i ended up with a B- and i busted my ass more than you'll believe
This class was very interesting and had it been taught by a different professor I might've actually enjoyed it. The professor is very rude and doesn't really understand why a student would've comprehend the subject. Also the class is tedious, a lot of reading, studying, two big papers, etc. The tests are also miserable, take at own risk
Dr. Ingmanson is an amazing Professor. Yes she is extremely hard but you get alot out of her classes. Do the work, read the books, and study and you will be fine! I currently work for her in the lab and she is very nice and helpful in her classes IF you actually go talk to her. She's not going to read your mind! She helps those who ask for it. TAKE
I think she's a sweetheart. And brilliant - she literally knows everything. Sometimes she makes condescending comments but mostly I find them funny and justified. I don't know why everybody says she's hard because I thought she was really reasonable and gave us MANY chances to do really easy extra credits for a lot of extra points. Great prof.
Great teacher but still hard
Professor Ingmanson is great at what she does. Although her class can be difficult, you can still get something out of it. Showing up for class, doing the reading, and participating in class are important for your grade. She gives out a midterm and a final, and you have two mini writing assignments. Overall, I really like this professor.
She is a genius and very knowledgeable, which does make her difficult. But there was enough extra credit that you can make up for any bombed test. I had a 75 on the midterm, but received 15 extra points for going to a speech. And she's always willing to answer any questions and help. I learned a lot on a variety of subjects.
Prof. Ingmanson is a very intelligent, passionate professor. She loves her field and is really knowledgeable about what she's teaching. Her classes are great but very challenging. If you're not an Anthropology major/ don't have an interest in the subject you may not like the class. I loved the class and am taking more of her classes this semester!
She's a good person but as a teacher she is a little boring. she doesn't teach with the book but expects you to read them.
OBSESSED WITH MONKEYS & APES!!!! I had to withdraw because to even get a D in the class I would have had to get 100 on the final.. I took the midterm and thought I did great and got a 58. Nothing is good enough for her. Also she straight up LOVES monkeys and thinks she basically is one. If u like monkeys take this class otherwise don't.
ALL anthro teachers that i've had are incredibly eccentric. Ingmanson is BRILLIANT but TOUGH. She expects so much, and you have to really break your back to do it. For a 100-level course, it's a TON of work, but really worth it and if you apply yourself you'll learn a ton. She's tough, but show up, participate, do work & extra cred& you'll be fine.
This professor considers undergraduate students as non- intelegent primates, and thinks she is Jane Goodall. Tests aren't bad if you memorize everything she gives you on the study guides and the maps she gives you.
She's knowledgeable but can be rude if you ask a question- the first day of class she told us to always ask questions. And every time someone does, she gives them a know-it-all condescending answer. We are students, we are essentially paying her to answer our questions. If you are an anth major you will do fine, but if not, don't take the class.
These comments are not justified-Ingmanson is a very intelligent woman, with, yes, high expectations for her students, but not unrealistic. If you are respectful and show that you want to do well, she works with you and is very helpful. She is deep down a sweetheart and loves her students and wants them to be interested in the topics that she loves
She is very smart&knows what she's talking about. She seems very caring and sweet,as a professor I would not recommend. She's condescending when you ask questions, doesn't teach with the book but expects you to read it, one tiny thing she says in class could easily be on the test. Memorize the whole study guide AND the maps she suggests.
Took for a SYS speaking intensive. The class is interesting but not too difficult. Expect to read sometimes. You have to give 2 speeches but that's expected. Good professor and a good class to knock out a couple requirements at once.
Professor Ingmanson thinks her field is superior to all else and sits at the front of the class while letting her students self teach each other. If you ask a question she gives you a condescending "you didn't know that?" Answer (if she even gives you one at all). Her class requires about twice the time and effort that other classes do. Don't take.
Dr. Ingmanson is by far the worst type of professor, she's not reasonable, and is not compassionate towards anything but her research/teaching us the material. I recall in class, a girl got up silently to go to the restroom to blow her nose - she stopped class, and reprimanded her saying she could not come back to the classroom if she left...!!!!!!
Dr Ingmanson is great!! She's not an easy professor, so if you're one of those people who expect professors to teach at a high school level and sugarcoat everything, yeah she's not for you. If you are interested in the subject matter, want to learn, and want to be intellectually stimulated, DO IT. She will work with you if you're struggling.
She has very high expectations for her students. She is actually a pleasant woman but she's overly passionate about primates and that shows in how tough of a grader she is. I took this class for my public speaking gen ed and there's definitely more work than I expected. It's not impossible to do well just don't expect to slack off
awful DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS
I took this class years ago and I still recall it as one of the best classes I ever took. Honestly- she shouldn't be teaching here, no one appreciates how great of a prof. she actually is. Students here just want to sit back and not work for their grade and that is not going to fly in this class.
I've loved every single class with her! She is tough in the sense that she expects you to read (honestly not that much) and take notes and participate. She has a passion for her work, but also a passion for teaching. If you care, you'll do well. All those bad reviews must be from bitter students who did not put in any work and expected an A.
Shes incredibly intelligent and is obviously passionate about her work. However, her intelligence makes her a bit out of touch with her students. I learned a lot but she has ridiculous expectations for an intro level class, she has no sympathy, shes set in her ways. She made me print out the obit to my papas funeral bc she didnt believe me lol
One of the worst professors I have ever had. Tough grader. Expects you to already know material before taking a 100 class. Belittles students, including students w disabilities. Do not take her class.
Pretty sure she finds joy in watching her students struggle and fail her class.
was a nice person but as a teacher I didn't enjoy her class
Shes an intelligent woman thats passionate about her work but shes extremely rude and condescending. She will surely put you down for asking questions. She expects prior knowledge despite being an intro class. Tricky wording on tests. She truly enjoys doing this to watch you fail. Unless you are an anthropology major, save yourself. Dont take!
This woman is so rude. Ask her a question, response is extremely condescending, if she responds. Sometimes she will just stare at you with disgust. She should work with people that are equal to her. No patience for teaching. She expects prior knowledge despite being an intro course. Double the amount of work. Dont take unless this is your major!
Ellen is nice enough, but she clearly is not meant to be teaching a 101 level anthropology course. Most of the people in the class are taking it to fulfill some requirement, so nobody really cares unless they plan on actually majoring/minoring in the subject, but she does not know that. Speak up, and she'll like you. Study for the tests.
This woman cares about her class and her students. In the middle of covid, she finds time to communicate and help. She is incredibly smart and passionate. It's great to know there are still professors who care about their students. She is great!
She seems like she has good intentions and can be nice sometimes but she usually dismisses what you have to say and moves on to something she wants to talk about and she is a lot tougher on the boys in class. She also does not give enough feedback on writing so you can't really improve, or she doesn't give it on time.
This woman constantly interrupts people in the middle of their presentations, treats her students with little to no respect, and rambles on about stuff that doesn't pertain to anything. She tells her sstudents to teach the class and then interrupts them for no reason most of the time. If I could give a 0 I would
This is one of the worst professors I have had in my 4 semesters at Bridgewater. She is extremely rude, interrupts presentations, and is just utterly disrespectful. I DO NOT recommend taking a class with her. So many projects, with so many different parts to them. Very passive aggressive (For no reason) Don't take courses with her!!!
This is a very hard class even when I tried hard and asked for help. I would never take this profs class again, she was a bit rude and sounded annoyed when I asked questions.
I would not recommend this professor AT ALL. She was very rude, and always sounded annoyed. She kept my class late for 5 min every single class and said that her watch said a different time. She is a very passive aggressive professor.
This Professor doesn't show any sympathy or compassion towards students when they are sick or have questions toward the material. I had a real reason to not be in class and she was very passive aggressive in the emails and told me I should withdrawal from the class. I do not recommend taking any of her courses
This professor has been the rudest, least considerate, most passive-aggressive teacher I have ever had. Should not be teaching, as she does NOT know how to speak to people. I am a student who respects professors, but it is hard to respect her. Does not respect students' time, effort, makes NO reasonable accommodations, hates when asked questions
Ingmanson is a tough grader with poor people skills. However, if you're an anthropology student I highly reccomend taking her. If you work hard and show her that you care about the class she's a very knowledgeable professor and you learn a lot.
An intro course should not be this difficult, very work heavy and the teacher has no respect for your time. Beware at all cost
yikes.
Passionate but condescending. Thinks students using the bathroom is an attack on her career. Admitted during class that she fit 2 semesters of material into 1 exam. Prepare to lose sleep trying to memorize the content. Expects students to read over 800+ pages of material. Picks arguments, words prompts weirdly to confuse students and dock points.
She is very passive-aggressive and condescending, her directions are often not clear enough and she just overall shouldn't be a professor. I will say that she is very passionate about the topic so if you major in this taking her class isn't a bad idea.
This was the least enjoyable class I ever took. Tough and uneasy. The time for in class tests is ridiculous because tests are extremely long but less than an hour to complete. I was intrigued by anthropology but this professor changed that. I now want nothing to do with anthropology which is unfortunate. I am extremely disappointed in Igmanson.
Ellen is very passionate about her subject and an expert at it, which I respect. But she needs to work on people skills, the constant passive-aggressive behavior is too much and most grades in this class are based on presentations, but she doesn't encourage you to become a better presenter. If you have presentation anxiety, do not take her class.
Dr. Ingmanson is an ok professor, she is very strict and a very tough grader. You have a test almost every week and your expected to remember a lot of information, you also have to buy 3 books (one I didn't even use). I only took the class because I needed a 400-level elective for my degree. I do not recommend her at all.
I was an anthropology major. I attended her class once, dropped the class, and now I'm changing my major. She was so passive-aggressive and condescending to the class. She also made a passive-aggressive comment about how my parents are paying for school. Forget you Ellen, I got a full ride.
Worst professor i've ever taken. Too much information in too little time. Very degrading of her students. Extremely high expectations for an intro class. Was an anthropology major but switched out after taking this class. You read a textbook AND two other books. Two midterms and a final. Impossible study guides. Pop quizzes. Very HARD, DO NOT TAKE!
She is very informed and passionate about this topic. She expected too much for an intro class. Probably great for a class you're interested in. I do think she has the right intention, just not quite the best at executing that. She comes off as prickly but genuinely is a nice person, just not the best intro professor. Easy assignments, tough exams.
OH goodness where to start.I would like to say I am an average A-B+ student. I don't feel I struggle often.Ellen teaches this class as though it's a simple refresher.. goes too fast and condescending.Don't bother to ask clarifying?'s,she on multiple occasions compared us to children just to tell us to just look it up.Not sure how she's teaching tbh
Extra credit is the only thing saving my grade. I asked twice if she could give us the study guide prior to a week before the test, made me feel like an idiot for even asking. She does not know how to talk to people. She takes points off in crazy places so be prepared to elaborate further than ever before...
The professor is quite passionate but can come across as condescending at times. The workload is heavy, with over 800 pages of reading expected. Unstuck ai and other study tools proved helpful for managing the content.
Simply put, she is not a good professor. She is the only professor at this university who teaches this subject, so unless this class is mandatory for your major, DO NOT TAKE IT! She does not give feedback on any homework or quiz/test. There is so much information she goes over, which I do find interesting, but it's all in such a short time. 0/10
Dr. Ingmanson is so great! She's super kind and is well versed in primates. She's incredibly interesting to listen to and you learn a lot about primates. There are a few presentations to make but if you prepare for them then it isn't that bad. There is some reading to do but as for homework it's fairly easy to complete.
Ellen is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the topics of the course but she is so incredibly rude. I showed her kindness and respect and throughout the semester she has done none in return. During presentations she is a shark, she will interrupt and correct you on the smallest of things. If you are not a perfect presenter do not take her.
Dr. Ingmanson's class really isn't that bad. She can be cold at times but as long as you do well in her class she'll like you. Exams aren't that tough and she gives out tons of extra credit throughout the semester. Definitely challenges you and wants you to think about the subject matter. Great class.
Difficult class, students are responsible for being consistent and on top of everything. Though, her passion and knowledge for this subject is contagious. Her lectures have been excellent, and fueled my curiosity.
Very, very passionate. Cares a lot about what she does and is very knowledgeable. She is very condescending so don't bother answering questions in class. Exams are worth a lot, 2 midterms and a final. Grades everything very difficultly not by participation. Don't miss class, she won't care why. If you listen, study, and pay attention you can pass.
She's honestly an amazing professor. She's understanding if you might be a bit late to class and even gives time to turn in late assignments if you have a valid excuse.
Overall the course is very interesting but she expects you to memorize every little thing she's ever said. The homework's and presentations are very easy, but she's very passive aggressive and condescending. I liked the class just not her. The class is worth taking just not with her as the professor.
doesn't help with anything, makes you the problem if you don't understand something.
