Her notes and text are not on the exam. What is not covered in class is on exam.
Everything is on the powerpoint slides or in book...assignments easy.

Very nice, willing to help, exams almst strght from notes w/few ?added from book
Great teacher, very friendly always willing to help you out
Class is VERY straightforward, but watch out- you have to keep up with the work
V.Easy. Excellent. lectures. V. helpful, friendly. Highly recommended!
Great teacher. Always willing to help out. Lectures are easy to understand.
busy class,lot of homework & addnl stuff,easy material,good prof,easy exams
great teacher, straightforward class
Great Class....Mad easy........don't go to class and hand in assig.=an easy A

Lots of work, but easy class, notes easy to follow, tests fair, nice prof.
excellent teacher, willing to help and very fair, assignments helpful
not the greatest at explaining stuff. tests are hard.
The class is a bunch of bull, unless you actually plan on doing this stuff for a living I guess. It is a ton of work and she is not helpful at all. Basically, start a business and hire someone else to do this kind of menial work.
Worst teacher at Udel. A/B student untill this class. It's an easy class but makes hard. Her way or no way. Only ACCT160 teacher w/ no extra credit or no curving test. Seems nice but awful human being.
Easy Grade! exams are hard but a lot of other work to get a good grade. NOT the best teacher, very high on herself, but easy a or b
class wasn't terrible, had a lot of projects that took a while, but was a fair grader, class was a little boring but not too tough
I don't understand how anyone could not get an A in this class. The teacher is clear in lecture, puts the notes up on slides, which are basically an outline of the test. The computer projects are simple. Other teachers give more extra credit, but still
pretty easy but VERY boring class, tests come straight from notes....except final. long annoying projects. she means well i guess.
such an easy class. really annoying projects and really boring lectures, but god is it easy.
Hard projects, lectures are clear but pretty boring. Unless you like MIS and want to go into it, this class is pretty pointless and just another requirement to get out of the way. She's nice i guess!
Super nice. Easy A as long as you do the work and understand the material. Must study for at least two days for exam. That's all you need for getting an A.
she's strict, but fair. she spells everything out for you and is very clear. if you have any problems, definitely go to office hours, they help alot.
one of the easies classes ever, she'll help you with the projects if you just ask, so ez
SHE IS SUCH A BLAND ****!
Easy grade, so she gets good ratings on this, but lacks moral fiber. Take her class and get an A, but risk her turning you in to judicial affairs like the twenty somewhat kids she did that to this semester
Do not take if you already have a busy schedule! Something is due EVERY day, this is a very demanding class. Material is very easy but she condenses it so poorly, you become overwhelmed easily. Frankly, she can be a b*itch. Got an A though.
This class is so easy and will help bring up your gpa. Projects are tedious but she grades them really easy.
i've had her for 261 and 160. she comes off strict, but is so nice. definitely go to her for extra help on the computer projects if you need it at all. tests are really easy, projects you work with a partner
This teacher is by far the worst teacher in the business school. She is really boring and very strict. She knows whats shes talking about but she talks like a computer. I would recommend taking davidson if possible. i got and 86.4 and she gave me a B!!!
for such BLAND info, she does a great job teaching and making all the programs businesses use very clear. strict, but caring woman with a daughter who is also a freshman in college.
People who say she is mean and hard are the people who sit in the back of the class and talk all the time. If you go to class and listen then you will be fine. She is nice and if you have any problems then she will help u
probably one of the blandest subjects on earth so it is tough to teach. she's boring but thats the classes fault. helpful if you go to her but pretty strict.
Good Professor. Understands material and is really interested in it. Take her, she's the best.
Nice lady, strict in front of the class, but friendly if you talk to her in person. The class is set up for you to succeed, 3 of the 5 tests are open note (including the final), so even if you blow the other two you can still get an A in the class.

Great Prof very organized compared to others. She is serious in class but she has to be. I loved this class many find it boring but i enjoyed it got an easy A. Study moderately and be on top of assignments. She's extremely helpful so dont hesitate to go to her for help.
Lectures not interesting, and teacher is conceded.
if you know the basic stuff about excel and access you'll do fine, boring class and info
This class is very easy if youre good with computers. If not it still isnt bad, monk does a good job explaining the material in class. Labs can take a long time but the grading is fair.
THE BEST for acct 261. Go to class and do projects and it's an easy A. Really helpful and nice, plus some tests are open book and notes! If you have to take it, TAKE HER!!

Very boring and not helpfull
Class was cake. Lectures were boring and all of the lectures are on webct, so just look at them there. She is a hard grader, if you dont dot your i's or cross your t's you lose 5 points. If you study the powerpoints and did well in ACCT160 you'll do fine in this class.
It's a good class overall. She gives you weekly assignments that take what seems like forever to do, but collectively they are worth more than the exams. The exams are easy if you study, but one time she did test us on 9 chapters before. The exam does have a section of easy questions from the text which is like your extra credit.
I feel very awkward during her office hours...maybe it is just me but I feel like she wants to push me out of her office as soon as possible, she cuts me off mid-sentence and I feel like I never get anything accomplished. She also avoids me, she turned around one day when she saw me walking towards her...I guess I ask too many questions.
the class is easy if youre willing to devote all your time to her stupid weekly assignments.
She is a good, professional teacher who is always prepared for class. I found that she was very willing to work with students. The lengthy projects can be tedious sometimes.
I'd take any of her classes again. great professor who comes off as strict but is really nice. really organized and prepared too. lectures are boring b/c of the material. the computer work can seem like it takes forever but make up a big part of ur grade. go to all the labs. lectures aren't that important.
Monk is extremely nice and professional. Alot of small assignments, all of which are very simple and will lead to an A in the course if you do them all. Attendance is not mandatory, and only about 30-40% of the class actually shows up everyday. Take ACCT-160 with Monk.
She gets mean sometimes. When in the computer lab, she doesn't fully explain what we are doing. You sit there like an idiot while the people around you are probably doing the same thing. Make sure you go to her website to get the instructions for the homework. Don't just do the casegraders. That will get you in trouble. Don't take it at 8am!
She is so professional and such a great teacher. She teaches real world things and makes you want to learn and go to class. Shes not easy though, you need to work your butt off for a B. you will learn so much from her TAKE HER!
Overall, the computer work in the class was fairly easy and simple. The textbook material may not seem so important, but read the book just to pass the three non computer exams. When taking a computer exam, Prof Monk gets into a mood of sorts, so do not get into an arguement with her. Also, if you can't figure out a computer problem ask her!
Prof Monk is a smart lady and tries to teach you a lot. Unfortunately, the material is pretty hard and she just seems to stay on track with the work she's outlined and doesn't too much go over things and make them clear. Work hard for a B, good luck for an A.
She's extremely smart and definitely means business. The class isn't hard but it's a lot of busy work. You learn from her which is not the case with Davidson, but as long as you practice access and excel and study a bit for the exams on her lectures it's an A/B course
great professor. some of the cases were difficult, however if u see her during office hours she is extremely helpful. exams weren't bad, just read over the material.
Easiest class/professor ever. Don't bother studying for anything or buying the books except the one w/ the homework assignments in it.
I really like Monk. She is a pretty easy grader and there is a lot of projects and tests which really help your grade because if you do bad on one, its not that jeopardizing. Her projects are a lot of busy work but overall i would definitely suggest her. Nice lady, easy grdaer
no complaints. taker her if you can. agree with previous post. microsoft access is terrible no matter which teacher you get.
access just isn't fun at all, but the class isn't all that bad especially if you're required to take it. Monk is really nice and class isn't that terrible to attend, but it isn't required. but if you go to class and pay attention all the tests on the subject we're easy
very time consuming class but if you go to office hours monk will go through the entire assignment with you and will guarantee at least a 90 on every assignment. this also helps with the tests. i loved her!
Easy class, very helpful teacher. Final project is annoying but everyone gets an A on it.
Extremely good professor...She's an easy grader and personable...Definitely recommend taking any of her classes
Awesome professor, really takes the time to help you out on the projects. Exams not bad and projects are helpful and don't take too long. Overall great professor, definitely recommended!
Ellen Monk is a great professor. The material might not sound interesting at first but you will realize that the information she teaches is really important in the business world. She knows everything about everything and is always willing to give advice or help on anything you do.
Great teacher. Very helpful. Easy class. Lectures are sometimes boring but excel and access tests are easy. No Final.Take Ellen Monk for MISY261
Ellen may come off all nice but shes crazy. No one takes ERP systems seriously except ellen monk. If you cant get concepts she doesnt help you. VERY uninteresting and takes off points for EVERY little thing. Im a very hard worker and got a b-
Professor Monk is very nice, and she's very knowledgeable. Her tests are fairly easy. A lot of in class lectures are basically BS though. Overall, I would recommend her as a professor.
for a class about computers she doesn't seem to know a whole lot outside of the textbook, also is one of those people who gets amazed that we now have technology that can scan people's faces. Overall though she's a solid professor, the class is ridiculously easy to begin with and she doesn't make it difficult. Easy A if you know what a computer is
Good teacher overall. Book material is super boring, but the excel stuff you learn is very useful. Easy class
Easy class, but extremely tedious. Projects every week that can take pretty long. Exams are not too bad. Attendance isnt mandatory but helps for the exams. Shes really nice, but the class is just extremely annoying.
Such a great teacher. Would definitely recommend.
Try to avoid her class. U need put a lot of time on this class!!! Not an easy A class.
Seems stuck up but she's a quality professor.
I liked her. She was willing to help in office hours and I felt her class was really straight forward, but a little bit tricky. Worst part of the class is when she does notes about the book that no one read and everyone failed the test on.
pretty straightforward, the book material can be a little tricky but computer exams are easy
She really cares about her students. The class is so straightforward and easier than MISY 160. She's real chill and you do all projects in a group. Take her for this class.
Honestly, she's rude and doesn't actually teach you anything. You show up to class and she expects you to know how to do everything. If something goes wrong with your computer she will simply say "I can't help you" and walk away. You won't be screwed if you have to take her, but I would try and avoid her as much as possible. The work takes hours.
She's a really nice professor, but not necessarily the most helpful. However, she is a pretty easy grader. The projects were usually tedious, but were always done in groups. Overall, I would recommend.
Interesting class since the only deadline is to finish the configuration projects by the end of the semester. Weekly online quizzes that are easy, a midterm, and a final that aren't that hard. Definitely would recommend taking this class if you are good with time management. I got an A pretty effortlessly!
This class is super easy, the only hard part are the quizzes and the in text final. Everything on the computer is a joke except for when you get to the end of class, but that doesnt count for a grade. Totally recommend.
She may be the worst professor Ive ever taken. Your grade in the course has nothing to do with what she teaches. She expects you to know everything and I truly think she thinks she is a good teacher.
Awful person and awful professor
Really just an awful class. Classes were not used to prepare for exams, that was on your own. Classtime was spent "learning" complex sales order processing software. Let alone, she is really just not a nice professor at all, and she teaches more about logistics than the actual computer programs. DON'T TAKE
How does she have ANY positive ratings? I got an A in the class and never struggled but still would NOT recommend her. So rude and condescending, not helpful at all, does random business software in class but never gives instructions and you never get tested on it. Worst professor I've had. She doesn't care about us and I didn't learn a thing.
I enjoyed this class a lot while taking it with Monk. The assignments were tedious, but they teach you what you need to know. Her exams are not difficult and for the final she gives a curve if she thinks the average was low. Just keep up with the work and you can definitely get an A or A-. I recommend her highly!
Go to class and pay attention. Other than that the course does not include much studying. The assignments can be tedious but she is very helpful and will give away some of the answers in class. You can work it groups if you would like. If you go to class and pay attention the assignments and exams will not be too difficult. You can get an A .
Great style of class-- the entire course is centered around two configuration projects that are simply due at the end of the semester, along with a couple of exams and quizzes. You literally do the configurationshomework during class, so as long as you don't procrastinate you can get a really good grade. Professor is always there to help you.
The class is overall pretty easy. As long as you understand basic MISY information going into the class you'll be fine. MWF classes consist of only meeting MW and submitted online work for Friday. Each Friday you have class work and a project due. The practice textbook is used for projects so you'll get your money out of that.
The class overall is very easy, especially if you have taken MISY160. She gives a lot of assignments and many of them are worth less than one percentage point. Some of the more heavily weighted projects are pretty difficult, but they can be done in groups and she will answer emails and help in office hours. The computer tests were easy A's.
You have to be dedicated and never tardy
The Quizzes are worth half your grade, so you need to do well on them!!! Just missed an A in the class because I forgot about one of the quizzes. The class is very straight forward and easy if you do your work.
Monk is the most condescending teacher at the University of Delaware. She doesn't care about if the students are understanding the material, she strives to show off her MISY prowess and then continues without them. Completely unclear on what she wants for the group projects and if you come to talk to her about anything she will talk down to you
The class was OK. Attendance was mandatory and hard to make up points for that class. I liked how the group project was broken up over the span of the semester. However, she was very vague with answering questions regarding the project or during tests which was annoying.
Easy A, fine professor. She can be a little condescending when answering questions, but not on purpose. The first exam is the hardest. The group project is designed to be done 99% in class, which is very understanding of her.
She makes this class harder than it needs to be. The first few weeks of class you're in a classroom and not on computers. This is the hardest part of the course because she gives a written test everyone does badly on and her quizzes are hard to get a handle on at first. Takes the rest of the semester to recover your grade from that.
Attendance is only mandatory for the last few weeks of class for group projects (all done in class). Very little work outside class, but the projects she assigns are very similar to her exams. The practical portion of the exams is exactly what she does (multiple times) in class. The group projects are easy as long as you follow directions.
Monk is kind of a hardo but this class was not difficult at all. All you have to do is come to class and do some homework, which may take an hour or two a week but that's literally all it takes to get an A in this class. Exams are just like the homework and in class problems. Attendance is optional but she recognizes the people that show up!
Prof Monk was always very excited about the material and gave extra credit on all assignments you submit as classwork, so as long as you show up you'll be fine. After taking 160, most of this material is review and she let us bring a formula sheet to exams if we needed. The exams were always identical to the practice exams. Definitely an easy A
She is unclear in what we are expected to do. She gives no examples and does a very poor job at explaining things. I strongly suggest any other teacher besides this one for misy261.
By far my fav professor at UD. 5 projects that build on each other, 4 exams, a final, and extra credit. No HW from textbook. First exam is the hardest but she lets you retake the exact one at end of semester for full credit. Sometimes gives unclear instructions but during office hours she will pretty much do the projects for you.
Monk is ok. She is kind of a hardo but if you ask questions and participate she will like you. Projects throughout the semester are rough, I always thought I failed but got a 100% on pretty much all of them (always did them the day before). Exams are ok, if you go to class you will do fine. Don't really need to study. Gives a 20 pt extra credit.
moves extremely fast not the professor you want to have when taking misy 261
Professor Monk is the best! she's always there to help if you need her. the class isn't too hard mostly comprised of exams and group projects.
Professor Monk did a lot of application work to make sure you knew what you were doing, and the exams were the same format. We worked in break out rooms but she always came to make sure we understood. She was also helpful during office hours. Sometimes there were things on the exam that were a little difficult but overall the exams weren't bad.
Professor Monk is an amazing professor. She works hard to make sure you are getting the material and provides tons of examples and solutions for when you are struggling. Her TA could use some work this semester and there seems to be some miscommunication between the two of them. But otherwise this class is an easy A if you follow along in class
You work in a group the whole semester, which can sound annoying but you make friends and help each other throughout the semester. There are 10 hw assignments, 2 exams, and a final project. At first it's a bit confusing to see how the class operates and sometimes you feel lost but after a few weeks you're gonna be fine. Very interesting topics!
Easy class but be prepared to teach yourself most of it. She seems to get aggravated when you need help or dont understand something. You rely more on your group than her if u dont understand something so hopefully the group u get put in is good. She doesnt round grades either
This class's lectures were recorded by another professor, but Professor Monk held Zoom meetings to discuss the material, the previous homework, and give tips on the upcoming homework. Responds to emails quickly and gives clear feedback on assignments. Weekly assignments can be done in groups or individually and there is a group presentation.
5 homework assignments, 5 quizzes (content is what she goes over in 2 mins during that class period, then quiz at end), 2 exams, and a final group project. She is the type of person to get mad at you when she doesn't teach you the material. Make friends in the class quickly
The professor gives good lectures and the class is pretty chill so I would definitely recommend it to anyone. She did give some tough quizzes mainly because it was on content we learned in the same class period. She is a very lenient grader when it comes to homework and quizzes. The exams were not too bad either.
Had Dr. Monk for the capstone. She was extremely nice and had great feedback for us on how to improve our project. Kept us very motivated and allowed our team to show out own creativity. She served as a great mentor.
Professor Monk was great! If you have to take MISY330, try to take it with her. If you pay attention in class you should have no problem getting an A.
Professor Monk is great. Class consists of online quizzes, half semester in class project, and half semester other project which is the same as the in class project but different data. You can very easily work ahead and pretty much finish the class a month early. Configuring in SAP can be scary but instructions are very clear. Highly recommend.
Professor Monk wasn't too bad and the class was relatively easy if you pay attention. 5 homeworks, 5 quizzes, 2 exams, and a final project. At times it seemed like she was confused about the stuff she was teaching us and she wasn't in synch with her TA when it came to grading. She also isn't the best at answering questions but means well and tries.
This was a tough class and she is a tough professor but I learned a lot.
Shes quite nice and very understanding. Her class is quite easy and i recommend talking to her about careers in MIS if you are interested. Shes empathetic and will do her best to help.
Horrible professor. Taught barely anything and so much came on exams. Did not provide enough materials to prepare for exams. Gets mad if we ask questions
She's fine. Monk has a more hands-off approach to teaching, which I'm not a big fan of, but you should be able to learn the material by going to class and doing the homework. The beginning of the course can get confusing with logical data modeling, but actually writing SQL is much easier. Encourages using AI to save time on final project as well.
This class is absurd. It isn't even hard but the work takes hours on end and you learn nothing. She does not do a thing. She knows nothing about the system and never knows how to help and is unclear. The directions are 5 years out of date and so unclear you constantly need to just guess or figure it out. Just save yourself the trouble and time
This class isn't that hard, and the grading is pretty light on homework and quizzes. There is also a group project. However, Monk isn't always very helpful when you need clarification, She doesn't answer questions clearly and doesn't seem to have a deep knowledge of the subject.
She's okay. Sometimes it seems like she's also confused about the material we are learning. Encourages AI which cuts down the time on assignments. However, that causes students to not actually learn the material. She's very nice though.
