starts out a good prof. you do good on the first test and after that u basically feel like ur wasting ur time. he never uses the book and gives a million handouts. he gives take home test.a lot of people dont do good cus we dont know real span. cus of him
don't waste money on the books cuz he says that the books arent' helpful. if you have trouble with spanish, don't take him cuz its not gonna get any better. i did very good in spanish when i was in high school and then i barely passed his class.
start out every class by listening to spanish music, you do not need your books but you will get over 60 handouts that you need to keep refering back to; big paper waster! If you are bad at spanish do not take this professor!
TOO MANY VERB HANDOUTS!listened to music, recited his info on board, wrote all down! could use info on exam, had take home exams. you will not know spanish after taking him, though.you do not use book, dont buy! nice man!
He knows lots of languages and speaks all of them very well. Always a major plus. My only gripe? He gave me a B even though my average was 88.5. The GPA's important ya know!
DON'T BUY THE BOOK,you don't need it, he teaches his way his stye, and it's better tah wahtever the book has to offer, cuz he teaches things you have to know to get by in a conversation, he'll bring in music everyday to introduce the class, but it's ok
he is the best. i never pay attention in his class but still get an A+++++. i never done anything in his class i just go to class for fun and have fun with my friends.
He is such a weird teacher! I even had my Spanish friends did all the tests for me, but still I got no more than a B! YOu don't learn any Spanish in his class! His class is a complete torture! You can't go into his class without felling asleep!

Very sweet and understanding. Willing to work with you.
hes was very anal about the spanish language, and to a fault. he expected us to write words in (parenthesis) that werent a part of the sentence but -could- be used in place of the words that were suppost to be used. basically pointless and confusing.
Nice guy but needs to understand that not everyone is a Spanish major. Overboard with the handouts! I spent hours doing each exam and still ended up with a B.

He is boring but a very nice guy.You really don't learn anything but grammar and thats even confusing with him.
he is fine teacher. very very very helpful. a very decent man WHO GIVES RESPECTS TO EVERYONE. he make staff very easy. his tests are little bit complicated. but if u study u get good grades in his class. i took him for spanish 1 and 2. in both classes i got A.
He doesn't know how to use a computer and he never uses lab, movies or different materials. He is a old school teacher. If you want to learn Sapnish don't take this class because you never practice and learn nothing. Everythin is translations-for that you can use a dictionary or a computer.
If you actually want to learn spanish, do not take Prof. Ramer. All you get is about 200 hand outs and you just use the hand outs for take-home exams. I would have liked to have actually learned more spanish in the class and was definitely disappointed by his lack of creativity in his teaching style
talks too much about her own life, and not enough about the class.
I spent a lot of time and effort trying to grease this guy up for an A.But towards the end he was crazy-He took off for things and expected you to use nonexsisting rules for the Spanish language. Don't take the course if you think your spanish friends will be able to bail you out of this guys class
He a nice guy. But he sux as a Professor. I say this based on one thing... Did I really learn anything in this guys class- NO - I say this and I still got a B. He should take some classes on how to teach Spanish as a second language, because clearly his take home quizes are not helping anyone learn.
very nice professor. he is very understandable. i loved his class. he is very funny and if you pay attention in his class u can get A very easily. he give all take home tests. i got A in his both clss.
excellent grader, fun teacher, you will listen a lot to spanish music, take home exams. easy class, but you will learn a lot!
great guy he know people hate spanish and deals with it ocordinly. make you listen everyday to spanish music it was pretty cool great professor
the nicest man you will ever meet. Take home tests are easy
Pissed me off. Taught us about Latin American culture, played us Bolero music, and totally ignored teaching us how to speak Spanish. Then he gave us tests on the language that he wasn't teaching us. Worst part: I dropped out and then found out that he just gave out A's and B's anyway. ****er.
This guy is a great teacher and teaches spanish very well. I had his wife for ed. psychology and she was just as easy. In his spanish class he should have more spanish being spoken in the class.
nice guy NOT a good teacher learned NOTHING but if u just wanna pass this class with an A or B and LEARN NOTING take him
He is a nice person. However, he does not cover all the basics in an introductory class and you could have trouble if you plan to continue.
yeah hes nice... and yeah he doesnt teach... but he doesnt give out a's or b's.... tats a lie... you get take home test and he is very picky with grading... so yeah... the class was not easy like people claim... and i worked hard and still only got a C+.... had a 79 average and he refused to give me a B.... didnt take into consideration anything.
If you want to be bored and have a ton of handouts that confuse you take him. If you want to hear that foreign textbooks are wrong and his way is the right way take him. If you want to watch ear hairs grow out of the professors ears take him otherwise stay away. Take him if you don't want to buy textbooks cause he thinks their wrong.
Guy is soooo nice. Come on people! I have no idea about spanish at all, SPA 122 i am taking now, from SPA 121 i got A, on every test i got about 97 or so. I didnt do anything myself, my spanish friend was doing everything, and who cares he noticed that? I got a good grade, that was a purpose of taking that class, to improve my GPA :)
His class is real easy...though is class is sometimes boring. It is very hard to fail his class.
AWESOME TEACHER!!! Always willing to help and make you understand. IT was one of the EASIEST CLASSES EVER. He's an awesome teacher. I would love to have more classes with that kind of teacher!!
I don't know other people are saying but he is very nice.. ya little hard in his exams but he always gives you another chance. If you go talk to him and see him once in while and he knows ur trying even if fail his exams he'll give you a B... I tell everbody to take him... Take Home Exams
I know it is his first time teaching the course but he did not teach anything about the study of the human language. He was a really nice guy..but he gave out little meaningless assignments that had nothing to do with the course. I shouldn't complain though because it is an easy A and will look good on the transcripts =)

DOn't ever take him. He only know's what he teaches.Makes his class a "MUSICA CLUB" by making you listen his spanish music. I gurantee you that you will fall asleep in his class. Please don't take him.....Please!......
Starts every class with a song...Will be your best friend if you want him to...Class is boring as hell...Never lets out early...Easy A...all take home tests and quizes
Not a great professor if you want to learn spanish. He doesn't follow any book. He has his own written papers and everyone has to follow that. For some reason he basically teaches HISTORY of spain and spanish speaking countries. Music(Spanish Music) is the most boring part of his class. Not recommanded. And yeah, its not an easy A.
take home tests and quizes. if you pay attention to his boring class, you'll do very well.
its easy, but YOU DONT LEARN SPANISH. i fell asleep in class every time.. it was painful to sit though. i had a spanish kid do the take home test.. got a B. i miss my old professor though, even though he was more work.. this guy was ABBURIDO! (boring)
He is a great guy, he wants you to learn Spanish, and provides cultural music to give you that feel. The stories were awesome. A MUST!!, Will give you an "A" no doubt about it...
Take him, he is so easy and his class is very interesting. His style of teaching helps you learn spanish better. Very nice professor
Nice, funny guy. No homework, doesn't care about attendance, and you don't need the text book. Tests are take home. 90 and up is an A. I had another prof for SPA 121 and Mr. Ramer was way better. Laid back class, listened to music everyday.
as said before, prof ramer starts every class with music to "introduce" you to spanish culture. there is no textbook for spa2, just a lot of homemade charts. his tests are take home, but still can screw you up. all around nice guy, but never really gets the class involved. more of a "repeat after me" style. over... and over... and over.

Hes a very nice professor but you dont really learn anything in his class. Its a real easy A,but if you want to actually learn the language, that A is senseless. He doesnt have any tests and dont believe in midterms and finals.. if you attend class regurarly and do all his "assignments" (which is jus translating his comments)then you automaticaly get
such a nice guy really wants you to understand the language. take home tests and barely any hw. spanish is hard to begin with but he teaches it so well. defintiely recommend him if you fail or do bad completely ur own fault
Very very cool teacher.definitely recommend.very nice guy with the great sense of humour.help u with whatever u need.
Yes he is nice. But as far as learning the lang.,he is very difficult to follow unless you had him for SPA 1.He would make a great Spanish History professor becuase that is what he seems to like. I really learned nothing but how to keep my self awake.
Excellent teacher, very fun, very helpful. With his handouts it's very easy to learn and understand Spanish. I'm looking forward to taking him for 122 & 221.
I had him for both spanish 121 and 122. Great guy, kind and helpful. Homework is easy and he doesn't push you much. If you are here to learn the language, you'll have to study his notes. If you want the easy grade, just show up every now and then and get notes from him. But don't take advantage of him, he might change...
He barely teaches us ANY spanish but he is a very nice & funny guy. All he does is play music for us, talk about the history of Spain, and then toward the middle/end of class he has us repeat a couple of sentences after him. Cake. Just learn how to keep yourself awake if you don't like history. He definitely should have been a history teacher.
I am a very dedicated and determined student. I really wanted to learn the Spanish language. This professor is the worst teacher He uses his own charts, not the book, he is extremely difficult to follow. and very boring. He gives take home tests, but they are very confusing. Unless you have a friend that speaks Spanish, don't take him
He is the worst. Very nice guy, but his teaching skills aren't.He is very boring, and he has you regurgitate the language after he writes it on the board. Very difficult to follow, and says a lot, "I can't answer that no one knows"
Professor Ramer is great for the study of human language. Very nice man and very cool guy. Class can be boring sometimes but he finds ways to make the subject interesting. Sometimes we spend the whole class reading a chapter silently but its worth it when doing his assisments. Easy A if you hand them in on time and attend class regulary.
I HAVE NEVER NEVER SPOKEN LESS SPANISH IN A SPANISH CLASS THEN I HAVE IN HIS. HE NEVER SPOKE SPANISH EITHER, UNLESS WE WERE REPEATING EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS SAYING ABOUT 8 TIMES. EXTREMELY BORING AND TOTALLY NON-INTERESTING. TESTS ARE EASY IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO SPEAKS SPANISH BUT OTHERWISE, THEY ARE HARD. IF YOU WANT TO LEARN SPANISH,DO NOT TAKE HIM
wow... i didnt learn ANYTHING. hes really nice but all u do is translate his thoughts about stories you read, get a check in the grade book and pass. i'm scared for 222 cuz i dont know anything at all.
BORING N BORING
very boring class. learned ABSOLUTELY nothing. we never spoke spanish even once. all he says is "you may think the guy walking on the streets in new brunswick doesnt know proper spanish but class he does".. or "a teacher cant teach you that" . very easy class.listened to spanish music everyday hes a nice guy but needs to find a better way to teach
the worst teacher you will every havE!!!! sittin in his class was like torture!! his tests are ridiculous his grading is ridiculous he should be fired or retire because he has absolutley no teching skills. very annoying. very boring. and horrible horrible teacher. dont take this class
Class is boring, i was looking at the clock every five minutes hoping the class would end. grading is harsh, i got 79 as my average even though i attended all his classes and did the homework and he wouldn't give me B-. Ridiculus!
his class is easy, only if you put in the time to do the work, but then again, isnt school about learning? and not how hard you can make it for the students? in his classs we're able to learn without stressing a whole lot. i got an A but only because i had perfect attendance and handed everything in on time and wrote a good final essay.
Absolutely the most boring profesor EVER. Lectures, lectures, lectures, writes all his notes on the board in long sentence form. Does not use the textbook. Uses his own charts which are VERY confusing. I came to every class, but ended up with a C because the only thing that makes up your grade are a number of VERY hard tests. DON'T TAKE HIM!!!!
Excellent teacher. I definitely recomend this class and teacher to everyone who is interested in learning the Spanish language
i took spanish 101 and 102 with ramer. he is so easy. attendance isn't mandatory. we never ever used the book. all the tests are take home. he doesn't know you can go online and use a translator. lol. very nice guy. so understanding and believes his students to the fullest. fair grader. downside is his lectures can be lengthy and boring.
had him for spanish 101 and 2. he is SO easy. so nice. so understanding. attendance wasn't mandatory. fair grader. ALL tests are take home. hardly had hw. has no idea that there are online translators. AWESOME guy. lectures can be lengthy and boring so try taking him twice a week for an hour and a half instead of once a week for 3 hours straight.
he is too good. gives take home exams and no homework...no textbook
Very disappointing. Other than repeating a few sentences in class, we did not speak any spanish or learn how to pronouce words, or learn how to speak conversationally. He is a nice man but completely out of touch. His classes tend to be boring and irrelevant. It was an easy A but the point of the class was to learn spanish and that wasn't done
THE WORSE TEACHER EVER! but i would take him he makes it impossible to get anything less than a C. i NEVER went to class and got a C. take home exams and no book. SO boring though. the clock will become your best friend, trust me. everythin he says is repetitive. b o r i n g
What can be said about this professor. Loves to teach and helps his students to whatever end necessary. He is one of the few professors I've had that spoke English in such a manner that it was mesmorizing. Though I dont particularly care for Spanish, I learned oh so much about the different cultures in the spanish-speaking world. Excellent prof
the class is insanely boring, and don't expect to learn any Spanish. He's a nice guy, he just doesn't have a clue how to teach. Attendance isn't mandatory, and everyone leaves early.
This teacher is awesome.. such an easy class and guarenteed a grade better than C.. Might not learn that much unless you study the notes but youll be happy taking this class.. Very cool dude.. I say go for it...
Mr. Ramer was a wonderful teacher. I really enjoyed his class.. he made the study of all languages interesting and fun!!! Very little work, no exams or quizzes. Class disscussion and everything is open ended and in your own opinion. You'd have to try to fail! Definitely take LNC123, I also signed up for his Spanish class.
Very nice guy and sociable. He gives you take home exams so you have a Spanish friend to help take advantage of it. If your a Spanish major then take someone else. Do not need the book. He does not teach it the way it should be. He can get boring because it is a repeat after me class. He plays Spanish music which is pointless.
worst professor i've had, i learned nothing about spanish, he can not teach, repeats "you see" after everything he says which gets annoying, plays music for no reason in class, doesn't use the textbook, he doesnt grade anything, you don't take exams, only give in translated assignments which you receive no grade on,he talks on his cell in class !!!
Please Please do not take this professor. I am a deans list student and i had to drop him because i could not sit through him. He just talks about the subjunctive form and doesn't really teach it. the worst waste of time class! Sweet guy, but not a teacher, i really learned nothing but how to distract myself for his class. sad
Great teacher! clearly loves teaching...take LNC 123, the questions might be confusing but he tells you you don't even have to get the right answer just state your opinion. there is no midterm or final and that classes may be boring however its an easy A and long as you hand in the essays (they are usually only two paragraphs!) :)
Professor Ramer could put you to sleep with his voice. Even though we might be learning things over again, it is always good to review. He should use the book.
Don't take this professor if you actually want to learn how to be good in Spanish. If you just want to get an easy grade and move on, then he is your guy. I can't tell you one thing I remember about that class because he never really teaches anything. Just take the notes and tests and come in when they are due and you'll get a passing grade.
Easy B with him folks. But it's true what people are saying you do not learn much Spanish in his class. Instead you learn about culture and his views on them. I already speak spanish so I don't care but if you want to learn stay away from him. Just submit the assigned translations which are not graded and you will pass no questions asked.
WORST teacher EVER. I am a Spanish National Honor Society student and just dropped him because I couldn't pass his tests or understand him. Hey, Ramer, get off your high horse and actually teach your students instead of just complaining!
He's OK. You don't really learn anything in his class. Just do the take home tests and you will be able to pass. His class is really boring. I suggest take another professor if you have to take Spanish.
The class is BORING!!!Infact it was the most boring class i've been so far. But the guy is chill he gives take home tests but grades them harshly. I agree with many here the class was boring enough that i stared at the clock whole time. But he's very friendly though!!
Nice enough guy and an OKAY professor but I likely wouldn't take him again. The hair that grows out of his ears is so distracting. I just want to pull on it!!!!! GAH! And yes, he does talk a lot about the bum who never went to school a day in his life. Sadly, our requests to take a field trip to meet this guy have been denied.
He's definitely one of the most boring people ever. He gives out tons of handouts but I'm not sure you ever really learn anything. Then there's the guy who never went to school a day in his life being able to know this stuff which is very annoying. And as was said, his ears have grass growing out of them and it's very distracting.
Ramer is a nice guy, there is no denying that. He can be a little creepy, I prefer that complete strangers not call me honey. I don't care if it's cultural.Anyway, the man can't teach. He has his Master's? That's laughable. I have learned the reflexive before in both Spanish and French and have never heard it taught the way he did.More info to follow
Excellent professor! He's extremely nice, educated, and very open minded. I would definately recommend him to anyone!
Really nice guy. Very friendly, enjoys open discussion. Attend class, do the assignments and you will pass the class with an A!
Real nice professor. Very understanding of people's busy lives with work, etc. If you attend class you will do well. Take home exams a plus!! Great professor. Will advise all friends to take him.
Very Interesting topics and useful information. I would have never written this much spanish if it wasn't for him.
JUST DONNT TAKE HIM PERIOD!
I was greatly surprised at how much I enjoyed this class, as long as you do the work and join in the discussion, you will do well.
Great teacher, you learn a lot in his class through the music he plays in the beginning and through his homework assignments. Just do what you can and participate often. I recommend him for anyone wanting to learn spanish in a different way. There is no book or test in 221
You think this guy would realize when all of his students are failing his tests that he's obviously doing something wrong. Bad professor...Dont take.
He didn't use the textbook. Used notes he hand writes. Doesn't teach, just reads off notes. Doesn't teach correct Spanish. He caters to the students who are failing, passes them no matter what. Doesn't care about the students who actually get decent grades.
I have never taken such an easy class...its so easy its HARD.. sitting in class for two hours while Mr. Ramer rambles on and on should be considered cruel and unusual punishment. Its just SO BORING.....i cant deal with it i literally had to talk myself into attending class every week.. you'll get an A but you may die of boredom in the process.
If you want to LEARN Spanish, do NOT take him. He doesn't teach Spanish, but preaches about his views on American politics and Spanish society. I had to switch from Spanish to English major, because I couldn't learn anything (and mind you, I am an A student). But if you don't care about college or learning, then he will be perfect for you.
I took Mr. Ramer again this term for 222. The music and assignment topics are interesting and you get to practice a lot of speaking as well. Take him for both classes.
Worst professor I've ever had. He didn't use the book, and was teaching advanced spanish in an elementary class. Ive never felt the need to write a formal complaint for a professor, but for him i had no choice. Very boring also. If you want to LEARN spanish he isn't for you. I went from an A in spanish 121 to a C in his 122 class..
This was the worst class I've ever attended. Prof. Ramer spent the 40 minutes of class I was able to stomach lecturing us on the merits of his "teaching" style and handing out 10 pages of hand-written diatribes. Rather than using Spanish in real-life situations, he had us recite from a paper, which anyone could do at home. He is awful!
I took him for summer and it was a very languid event each day to go and sit in class. His 95 pages of notes by the end of the 13 day process were torture and aggravating to use for his take home tests.
I took Mr. Ramer for Spanish 221 and 222. He's honestly the easiest teacher ever but if you actually want to learn spanish do not take him. All you have to do is translate the assignments he gives (I used a translator) which he doesnt even read he just marks down that you did it and you spend thte first part of class listening to spanish music.
All he does is give out assignments to translate. When we ask why you must to something a certain way, he almost always says that "that's just the way it is". he isn't clear, and we don't learn a lot. He also has a habit of picking up his phone in class when his son calls.
This class is alright. All we get is assignments to translate, then we go over them. There are no exams, and he does not collect homework to really grade. It seems too easy to slack. Honestly, I've hardly learned anything and I'm already 6 classes in. I would not go back into this class if he is the teacher.
Fantastico! This Professor gives take home tests, he starts every class with music and then allows questions and answers. He is extremely easy going. No textbook! He writes his own book information that you need. He is a sweet man. Very Polite. Easy A!
What is wrong with you guys? You're going to ruin it for everyone. Professor Ramer is the best! Do you WANT there to be more arrogant and crummy professors that want nothing more than to be egotistical jerks who idolize themselves for their authoritative presence in the classroom? Professor Ramer is the complete opposite of that.
honestly, he is the most boring and annoying man alive. no lie. but his tests are all take home, and he gives you two chances to pass them, he plays music at the beginning of class, i skipped class like every week, he's very nice. i wasn't a spanish major nor did i care to learn and passed his class. exams= translate sentences. that's it.
Interesting lesson in Spanish culture with music for the first 10 minutes of each class. Very boring thereafter, but not unpleasant. Every test is take home and he gives a second test for each unit, with only the best grade counted. Homeworks and practice tests to prepare for tests. Handouts instead of textbook.
Definitely the most boring professor I've ever had. His lectures literally put you to sleep. He is very nice though, and all the tests are take home so it's pretty easy.
He is sooooooo nice and his class is very simple do the assignments and you will get an A. no tests no curve balls, just simple translation assignments. If you need to boost your GPA this is the class!!
Do not take the class if you actually want to learn spanish. It is very easy to pass, but you will not learn much other then conjugations of the verbs.A very nice man,but probably still should not be teaching since he often goes off topic about his former records he recorded as an adolescent.
He is very nice and understanding. he will talk for the entire class and youll probably fall asleep. but its basic, fast and simple.
This is the easiest class EVER!!!
This class might as well be labeled professor ramer's opinions. He just has us translate ridiculous papers into Spanish that are all his absurd opinions and then he reads it and has us say it loud in class.. I wanted to be fluent in Spanish coming into MCC and after taking him I definitely know far less than I originally did. He is horrible.
Bad professor. No real instruction, and he goes off topic a lot, going on about Mexican soap operas and music. His exams have the weirdest questions, and he is unreasonably strict in grading them. His teaching methods (aside from being totally ineffective) are boring too. This is evident by the fact that, everyday, about half the class is absent.
Easiest class I've ever had, but also the most boring. I had him for a once weekly night class and it was miserable. If you want an easy A, take him... if you want to actually learn Spanish, don't.
If you were an ESL student, must choose him!!!!!!! Because his class is for those people who never heard about the Spanish. If people give him bad grade, I think because they learned a lot already or they do not like to attend the class.
Ramer is a really nice old man. His teaching is extremely boring and painful to sit there. If you need to pass SPA take him! He counts 60% as a C! I took him as a 4 week summer session and I am glad I did! I can't imagine having him for a full semester! EASY GRADE! VERY BORING!!!
He is a really good prof an easy a as long as you put in the work. Just don't buy the book because he doesn't use it
Extremely boring. When I took that course could barely keep my eyes open. But hes is super easy. Its just translations. So just run it through google translate. You don't learn anything at all so if youre a Spanish major don't take him. If you need an easy A then hes good. No exams. he is really repetitive when reading assignments so it annoying.
If you are trying to get you're GPA up this is the class for you! It is so easy ! take home exams! He is such a great person! he wants students to learn ! EASy A. He is BORING! I did most of my other class homework and papers in his class.
Not too many tests. Easy class if you follow his material. Don't buy book for his class. He uses his own notes. Open book tests. Just attend class and follow directions, get an A.
I didn't think he was boring at all, it's obvious he's passionate about teaching Spanish and about the culture as well. We listened to music in his class and he even gave us a little history. Like aforementioned, easy A, take home tests, in our summer course he gave us a second chance on exams. Awesome.
Even though this class was not the easiest class, it sure was the best one I ever took. all the test were take home so it was fun to do my test while listening to music. Pay attention because he is teaching proper Spanish grammer not phases and stuff. I still suck at Spanish but its okay I still got a good grade. You wont learn over night. practice
Professor Ramer is very very very boring..... You will catch him listening to music standing tall like superman. He is easy.... but very very very annoying always shh shhing the tiniest noise. Take if you want an A hes a big fan of telling the class to have some alcohol lubrication, it is aggravating to hear him say spanish is just the way it is
Seriously, take it from these posts, there is no explaining how boring and predictable prof. Ramer is. He starts the class off with a 40 minute lecture of the history of Spain... I have him for Spanish 121 and i am forced to take him for 122 because i will be so far behind with an actual professor
I will never take Prof. Ramer again! He hands out a mountain of papers and can barely explain any of them. All tests are take-home and he drops your lowest grade, so not bad. Exams are on novellas he likes. But he rambles on forever and makes zero sense. I passed his class just by self-studying. He killed all enthusiasm I had for learning Spanish.
That is the best class
I was absent quite alot but I must tell you prof. Ramer is the kindest and most understanding teacher. Although his lectures maybe long, they are actually eye opening if u listen well. Show up to class, participate in the discussions and hand in ur homework on time as those are the major things he will grade u on.
His class was the most boring class I've ever taken at MCC. Most of the class was spent either listening to him read his notes aloud or having us lifelessly reciting hat was on the board. He acts like his Spanish class is the best and he knows everything. Like others say he is incredibly nice but if enjoy LEARNING languages at all, do not take him.
this class was so easy if need A for your GPA take this class
Prof Ramer is a nice man, but listen to all of the reviews they are very accurate! He's very boring and thinks his class is the best class at MCC. He loves telling the class that they need alcohol lubrication in order to "speak spanish" correctly, and he makes the most ANNOYING sound (sounds like SED) after every sentence, it drives me insane!
Such a nice man, but also such a boring professor. Easy easy easy A. But if you want to actually learn vocab, do not take him. After every sentence he mumbles a word like "ser" and it is super agitating. Long lectures that last all class so make sure to drink coffee or you'll fall asleep. Overall an easy class, just very boring.
If you don't want to learn Spanish and instead sit through meaningless lectures about hispanic country history, then by all means take him. He has a habit of making weird noises after every sentence, and talks about students needing alcohol lubrication in order to speak spanish. He can never explain why certain words mean what they mean. BORING.
He is such a nice guy but not the class you should take if you really want to learn spanish. his class is more of an spanish history class and focuses on conjugating words. you'll get many take home test and he gives you plenty of time to complete them. he does lecture the whole time and you will hardly get out early
If you aren't fluent in Spanish don't take him. He wants it all his way or no way. Tests only get harder and harder and he expects you to know word formations when all he talks about in class is Spanish countries and you listen to boring music every day.
Class is such a joke. He doesn't teach, hand outs puts you to sleep. Plays music that doesn't carry over too the class, his jokes, metaphors and comments when people don't repeat the words. Is the most annoying, he has OCD before he writes on the board even for one word he air writes. oh and "claims" he doesn't know how to use email.
I took the study of human language with Professor Ramer. It was an easy A. He's very understanding and compassionate. He gives a lot of assignments but don't fret. They are easy questions about the assigned readings and it doesn't matter if you're right or wrong. He just wants you to think. No tests and no papers.
Don't take him. If you plan on actually learning something or the very least not be bored out of your freaking mind in class, DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY. He drones on and on and on about everything Spanish culture except its language. But if you somehow do end up with him, just have someone to get all the papers and show up sometimes to hand them in.
He is very boring, but he expects participation from you! No tests or quizzes, but alot of homework, which are mainly opinion-based questions related to the book you are assigned to read! Ur grade, even with everything completed will be a "B" but of u do the final, u get an A! Sounds funny, but thats how he works! Gl and he is very nice
Don't take him. If you regular attend his class and do all exam better you will get B or B+, but someone in your class never attend any class will get A. I don't understand how he graded. If you plan on actually learning something or keep your GPA higher than, DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY AT ALL.
I won't take again.
His class was super easy, he gave a lot of assignments but they were all opinion based and as long as you just handed something in you would get full credit for it. Very caring teacher and is understanding if you have any problems during the semester. Respects everyones opinion and the class is an open discussion so he expects participation. Easy A
It was an easy class. No exams. You're graded on homework and participation. Ended up with a B but probably would have gotten an A if I participated often. Only bad aspect of professor is contacting him. He somehow does not know how to use email which makes everything frustrating when class is cancelled.
Great professor.
If you want to actually learn the language I suggest picking a different person because his class is mostly on the history of Spain and musical melodies rather than learning the language. Although some students find his class boring I like it compared to other classes im taking. He's a very chill professor and wants all his students his pass.
Good teacher
good professor
Very nice guy but his entire class is based off tests which are take home. Hes gives so many handouts you may as well have a tree in your binder. And he lectures by going over the handouts word for word. Seemed he doesnt include attendance and participation in his grading because some people showed up once every 4/5 classes. Wouldnt take again.
Interesting class, unlike any other I have taken. Easy homework and everything is opinion based so there is no "wrong answer". This class is designed to make you think about things you normally wouldn't but apparently participation matters a bit more than it was made out to be. Recommend for sure if you need the class, but definetly participate!
Prof. Ramer was the nicest prof I ever had. We literally had to read a chapter and answer a question given to us and talk about it. That was basically the class. I had so much fun and got a B even though I was shy and didn't talk much. Easiest class, best professor, greatest memories! Thank you Prof Ramer!!!
He is truly a great gem. I never really liked taking a World Language, but he made it seem so simple. He wants to see you succeed. Despite a lot of homework, he explains it thoroughlyy the next day you meet up for class.
I would only recommend taking him if you have him in person. I had him for SPA-121 before everything went online and he was great and I passed with an A so I was excited to have him again but he has no idea what he's doing when it comes to online. Plus, he had a lot less assignments and graded way harsher.
Professor Ramer genuinely is a such a caring professor. I am not good at Spanish at all but he told us from day 1 there was no possible way he would let us fail and he was right. You must pay attention in order to understand the assignments/exams. If you dont understand something he takes the time to make sure you do. Really recommend :))
Barely answers emails. he does not grade youre assignments his assistant does so when you need help he cant even help you. Forces you to take tests the way he speaks spanish weather he is correct or not. Made many errors on tests while writing them. Said finial would not count all semester, it did. Email about missing test grade, did not answer.
Horrible at teaching online - has no knowledge of technology - should not be teaching. Only teaches his way of Spanish - I didn't learn anything. Doesn't give feedback or answer emails.
Will ruin your GPA, no homework, grade based on tests. Lectures by reading his own notes, I retained no information, and I actually wanted to learn, should have withdrew when my other classmates did.
Professor Ramer seems like a nice guy, but he's an awful teacher. I think this class might have been easier if it was an in-person class, but on Zoom, it was awful. Lectures are boring and long, his notes are kind of confusing, and the tests are HARD. The tests are the only grades for the class and they're so difficult. Don't take this professor
Avoid this professor at all costs. Lectures are read straight from the notes, which don't make sense. Tests are based on translating dialogue from a soap opera, which makes no sense in the real world. I'm failing the class right now. Does not reply to emails. Clearly does not know how to work Canvas either. Trust me, avoid him at all costs.
Beware of this professor. His teaching simply involves having you repeat Spanish sentences after him and is entirely ineffective. Grade is only based on tests, so be careful. I used to easily get A's in high school Spanish, so I thought I would here too, but he cannot teach and does not organize the material like a traditional Spanish class.
Personally dropped his class about 4 weeks into it, he only goes by his notes and it's very hard to follow. Class is slow and a bit boring. I am a spanish and english speaker and we would have to translate sentences and I would be told they were wrong, but that is how I would translate them in the spanish I speak which is spain spanish.
Professor Ramer is one of the most kind and empathetic professors I have ever met. I say he is lecture heavy only because he reads off of the notes and handouts and explains and breaks down everything! He is awesome and I definetely reccomend taking him!
i took this proffesor for spanish 1 and 2. lecture heavy, attendance does not matter. he grades the hw very hard. he cares alot about his students and will work with them if needed. if i had to take this class again i would.
Professor Ramer is a very kind cares about his students. Yet, he doesnt put any grades in Canvas all semester and you're graded by very few things. He is strict on how he wants you to answer on tests which kind of annoyed me but he tries his best to "not let you drown" as he says.Took his class as an 8AM which I dont recommend bc you will be bored.
His class was very boring. His class will make you fall asleep. The whole class is basically just repeating sentences after him. On the bright side he gave no hw and he only gave one take home quiz every week. He also removes your worst grade at the end of the semester. Nice guy but there is probably better professors.
Very nice teacher, helped when I was behind and accepted two month late work. While his class seems a little boring, it was simple and attendance was not mandatory. I will say is he doesn't respond to emails and doesn't use canvas so it can be difficult to communicate, you also will not know your grades until the end of the semester. + minimal work
Yes his class is difficult however, he will fail NO ONE. You would have to never be there or hand nothing in, in order to fail. His lectures are pretty slow and may be boring, but he is the sweetest man I've ever met. I purposely took him for both Spanish 1 and 2 because I liked him so much. Very witty guy and a sweetheart. Id take him again.
he's reallyy sweet and kind which made the class super easy. he makes sure that no one fails too. you're only graded on 7 tests but he gives basically a non-graded practice one before to help. class is a bit boring with the lectures but it's an easy pass! he made spanish very easy for me.
This guy is horrible the whole semester you have no idea what your grade is so youre just calculating it yourself. The only good side about his class is there are only 5 exams and a final and no hw. I went to every class so I guess attendance does not matter. Horrible if you take him in person be prepared to be bored out of your mind. Good luck.
Professor Ramer is a caring instructor who ensures no one fails. While lectures can be heavy, he breaks down concepts well. unstuck study was super helpful for prep, alongside the textbook. Overall, a good experience if you stay engaged.
Enjoyable Class! Professor Ramer is certainly old school, the lecture is essentially him just speaking of a paper, and he doesn't give any class work. All of his tests including the final are take-home tests. He doesn't use email, but is very lenient with missing classes. Great guy with a good sense of humor, would take it again.
He is very kind + I speak spanish myself and others besides myself were able to pass this class easily. His lectures sometimes end early, but include a lot of handouts and reading. Everything is properly explained and he is more than happy to help if you simply ASK. I recommend his class, takehome quiz + final that will only count if it HELPS you!
He is a very thoughtful professor. Explained the language in a way none of my previous teachers have. Goes in depth with his explanations and is understandable. Class is lecture heavy, but none of it is unnecessary. Take home practicals and quizzes for each unit that are the same questions for both. It's self explanatory and overall easy to pass.
He is a bit dry when lecturing, but he lays out everything clearly. Just make sure you follow his handouts, as they are the key to the assignments. There will be a LOT of handouts. Nothing is online, and it is solely graded by the average of your tests. The final exam only counts if it helps your grade. Participation and attendance do not count.
