Skips around a lot, but he wants you to learn and is always willing to help.
He makes an effort to get you to understand the material. This class requires more than just showing up and taking notes. You have to try and make an effort to understand the concepts. Sometimes he will go through the first 2 steps of the problem, skip step 3 and go straight to the answer. That is where he will lose a lot of the class.
Great prof.
great
he is sooo dumb... he lets you use an index card for the exams but make sure they are index cards! because if he lets you use your notebook he will make the exam really really really hard! he is incomprehensible.. he has to explain the stuff ovre and over again in different ways so people can understand.. didn't learn much but i got a B+
Great prof. the previous person is probabily the one that is dumb. That person must have failed. B+ yeah right
He does tend to make alot of mistakes when teaching but he tries to straighten them out. He also used alot of examples and he is a fair grader. Test are not that bad as long as you study and go over the examples he did in class and your homework.
THis class was very difficult. he never returns emails and is hard to get a hold of.
His class is so easy you would have to work to do poorly. Read the chapters before the test and that is all it takes to get an A. He can be a bit hard to deal with though. So, if you're up for an easy A this is it.If you want to have a fun class where you will learn something, this is not it.
Does not explain problems well. Not very helpful on homework problems. Loves to tell you that you will not understand what he is going to teach you. Does not teach the concepts in an understandable way.
Not a very good professor. Though he seems organized, he actually isn't. Either because of this year using an online math system has gotten our entire schedule out of whack, or the fact that he decides to change our homework halfway through.
Nice guy but not a good math instructor. This class was a waste of time and money but it was mandatory. =/
If you get him as a professor really switch out immediately. he is very confusing and just changes everything up and really does nothing except tell you how you wont understand anything. He isnt organized at all and isnt very approachable. Find a better professor he was seriously the worst i've ever had.
I'm currently in the class I don't understand anything we have 80 in one class its a small room he doesn't even talk loud enough way to go csun honestly goodluck if u get him.
This is by far the best professor i have ever taken at Nothridge!!! he stays after class with your study group, he is hilarious, curses alot, and so much fun!!! i dont understand how anyone could say anything bad about this teacher.. he trys not to give extra credit but does it anyway and curves the test the extreme.
Very helpful and not indifferent to how students do on the tests
He is very helpful in and out of class he has office hours M-Th and really clarifies any questions you might have. Homework is pretty easy if you pay attention in class so attendance is a MUST. For Midterms, they are based off of the homework he has assigned (no study guide, but he let's you use a cheat sheet) He's a really good professor for Stats
I really loved this professor. Very nice and helpful. Tests are not hard and he always gives extra points if he sees the class didn't do so well. Overall great class A+++++
Okay professor. In order to pass the class you have to go to his office hours because he doesn't explain very good in class. You have to study a lot in order to pass the 3 tests he gives.
Generous curves on the 3 midterms. Clarity is unparalleled as long as you pay attention and attend EVERY class meeting. He's one of the best professors I've had on campus and genuinely wants his students to succeed. I can't count the times he added extra office hours for us. He creates his own final, Just make sure you review the 3 midterms. ez A.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR.. doesn't explain well and very confusing. Expects everyone to know what he is talking about. I don't recommend taking any class with him.
He's soo bad!!! You ask a question and he will make you feel dumb in front of the whole class !! He moves way to fast so if you didn't get something good luck to you..,
This class is extremely hard regardless of your professor. You can understand him unlike other teachers. He teaches fast, but if you are confused he will stop and explain it. U can bug him after class like many of us did. He does not respond to emails, but show up to his hours for help. Does not curve. Hard work will show in your final grade.STUDY!
You will not regret taking him. I for one am not a strong math student but he helped. Go to tutoring, you have to be willing to work work work!!
Hes always willing to help. Meet with him he will clarify any and everything. Use the time you have with him wisely. He is an amazing Statistics professor.
This teacher is hard. His tests are very hard and his lectures go on and on. Overall he is a good professor but difficult. If you do not study and do the homework you will fail.
Statistics is generally a tough subject, but he really does a good job of breaking each problem down step by step. He does go through each lesson pretty quickly, but if you don't understand it right away, he's willing to go back and explain it to make sure everyone gets it. Form study groups, attendance necessary, and do your homework.
I took this class and I aced it. Hes a good professor, he will explain and go over the math problems with you step by step, but its up to you to practice them for the test. If you go over the homework and the examples in class then you'll be fine in the exams. He kind of looks like Stanley Tucci.
It might have helped that i took calculus in high school but overall, professor Eloy Lopez is a great professor. He makes sure you understand the concepts and if you don't understand, its best to go to his office hours and he will help you fully understand it. If you review the pages of the book he tells you before the exam, the exams will be easy
Try to get on his good side because he has a strong personality and will call you out in front of everyone. This class is not an easy A but if you STUDY for the 3 exams and final and do the 20 homework assignments, you will pass. Oh and he GRADES the homework, so no BSing... Only extra credit is 3 homework assignments at the end.
Prof. Lopez was great. He was one of those easy-to-approach professors, and he knew what he was talking about during class. He had a sense of humor and knew how to teach clearly and patiently. The 3 exams are typically based off the hw, so DO IT and don't BS. Overall, I really liked Prof. Lopez's class, and would definitely recommend it.
Lopez is such a chill dude. Go to his office hours and do your homework you will pass. His teaching is not very clear sometimes, but he is always willing to help and answer questions. Goes with pace of the classes learning ability and show up you'll be fine. He really is a cool guy who's kinda odd but he's funny in his own way as well as helpful.
While I am good at math, his class was pretty easy. Clear during his lectures, allows cheat-sheets on tests, and has tons of office hours. Also, he is hilarious. I looked forward to going to his class.
takes the class seriously and can be intimidating at first. He's somewhat funny and loves tv shows so he'll talk about them once in a while. Pay attention and do your homework to pass, some topics he doesn't explain very clearly but hes willing to help you if you ask I'd recommend take him!
Prof. Lopez made my life easy the semester i took him. His class is really easy once you do your homework, some of the tests questions are word for word from the homework. Cheat sheet on every test, he has multiple office hours. The best of all, you need no textbook! Take him, and you won't regret it.
This professor doesn't give many examples on the lessons. I had a difficult time in this class I went to office hours, but he was always crowded with over 10 people at one time so i didn't get much help. The tests are basically your grade. Stay away if you're not the best with math.
Don't waste your time he is not a good professor and he is unfair
The 1st time I took math140 I failed, I retook it with Lopez and I am so glad I did. He makes it clear this isn't an easy class but he goes with the class learning pace. Has 3 midterms and a final. Assigns a lot of hw, but the test questions are straight from your hw. I recommend going to his office hours they're very helpful!
At first he was seemed really mean but as he gets to know you and the class he is chill. He works with you a lot if you need help, wants you to pass this class because its a tough subject. Professor Lopez is a very smart man, knows what he is talking about. Do all his homework it helps a lot on the tests. Loved having him as a Professor
Great Professor! He has office hours and tries to help as much students possible. He answers all our questions and really makes sure we know the subject. Only 3 exams, lots of homework which is a big part of your grade but he goes over most of it in class. I suggest going to every class, you could miss a lot in one class. I recommend taking him!
Professor Lopez, is by far the best math professor at CSUN. He is always willing to help his student when in need and at the end of the semester offers office hours without pay just to help his students. Math 103 was a tough class for me but at the end I had a score of 95%, be prepared to work because it's not an easy class! Don't take CANDEL!
Professor Lopez was one of the best math professors I have had! He explains everything clear and precise. When I needed help with the questions I had, he would not hesitate to hear me out. His class consists of three midterms and one final, with homework to turn in once in a while. I would struggle in math but with his help, I was able to pass (:
Great Professor! Make sure you show up to class because it is a part of your grade. Professor Lopez is very clear and makes sure everyone understands the subject, and he makes the class very easy. He is the best math professor I have ever had! Just pay attention to his lectures and you will pass.
Horrible professor and very unfair. STAY AWAY !!
Don't skip class or you will miss a lot of material. He gives many examples and gives you an idea on what's going to be on the test. Online hw and hw that u need to turn in which really helps you practice for the tests. Professor Lopez could be intimidating at first but he's a great professor.
Honestly he was a pretty good professor, he knows what he is talking about and seems very passionate about it but he can be confusing at times. You do have to attend every class in order to not get confused because he teaches a lot in one day. He gives homework almost daily but it helps for the exams because he gets the problems from there.
Lopez is a really good professor and makes the subject seem really easy. He gives you the formulas on exams and quizzes so no need to worry about memorizing formulas. If you have a question he is more than happy to help. He tends to crack some jokes here and there but overall he is one of the best stats professors at CSUN.
Professor Lopez is amazing. He tells you what to focus on for tests. Prepares you for the final. Very helpful. I would really suggest him.
This was a difficult class, but Lopez made it an enjoyable experience. Although I struggled a lot throughout the semester, Lopez is very helpful and answers questions clearly. The way he structures his lectures were what makes this professor stand out. Funny, understanding and clear, but you have to do your part since it' a challenging course.
Prof. Lopez has to be one of the best teachers at CSUN. He makes it a priority to be available in office hours. Class was really hard, but he's a great teacher and helped a lot.
He is hand down one of the best math professors at Csun. He cares for his students and makes the lectures fun and easy to understand. This doesn't mean that the subject is easy, the class is very difficult, yet he actually makes an effort to teach and make you understand the material. A lot of homework, but the homework helps you for the test.
One of the best Stats professors at CSUN. Hard class must do the hw. Final is hard so make sure to study.
The course is very hard, but he's a really good professor. He extend his office hours when there's exam coming up. 1 quiz, 3 exams and final. Make sure you study and get good in the quiz and the exams because the final is very hard! Do ALL of the homework because the exams are based on it.
Easiest class I have ever took, but there are some hard topics. He sometimes goes quickly, but then takes his time with a hard topic. He cares about his students, he wants to make sure people understand, and there are no stupid questions in his class.
One of the best in class professors I've ever had.
Professor Lopez was a great professor. This was one of the hardest classes I have taken at CSUN, but professor Lopez definitely gives students a lot of opportunities to pass. Yes, the homework can be a lot, but do it because it will make a difference in your grade. Most importantly show up to class. Good luck!
The first 2 months of class I felt like I was going to fail because the material is so hard and confusing but Prof. Eloy is actually a good prof. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. he gives you the answers to the hw problem which is super helpful. DO THE HW! it will help your grade so much at the end. If you try a little bit and do all the hw you will pass.
Ugh. He never explains anything. During office hours he just has his earphones in watching movie trailers and when you approach to ask a question he will act annoyed and give you a quick response that doesnt even make sense. If you say that youre confused and ask more questions about something he will just be abrupt with u and not help. Ughhhhh
Professor Lopez is a Great choice for the lecture, he always gives us good examples to explain the materials in the textbook, and he's good at teaching this course, trust me. However, when you trying to approach with him after class regarding to your math questions, i never got a good answer, i mean its like 3 times, but no good answers.
I would recommend professor Lopez for math 103 lecture. He actually explains the material very well. He's good at teaching this course. Very lien when it comes to homework on xyz. Will extend homework assignment but don't wait till last minute. His Test are straight forward. Do your Hw because he grabs questions from there for Test.
Professor Lopez explains the concepts pretty well and is usually able to help outside of class. You are graded on 3 quizzes, online HW, and a common final (plus I believe you get an extra 3% if you go to class everyday). Really helps you prepare for quizzes. He also reopened the online HW. Can be a little condescending at times.
Professor Lopez is a really good instructor when it comes to explaining the material. If you show up to class and listen to his lectures, you will pass the class with no problems. Also, stay on top of the homework because it helps a lot on the tests. I would highly recommend him. He explains math in a way that makes it easy to understand.
he is really good at explaining. 4 exams overall. DOING HW will help u get good grades on the exams. I would take him again. TAKE HIM
If you've taken statistics before it's a pretty straightforward class. If you don't like math, good luck. Best advice: DO THE HOMEWORK.
Professor Lopez is one of the best professors I have ever had! I used to hate math before taking stats with him and now I love math and am a Finance major. I wish there were more professors like him! He is very clear, tells you what is going to be on the exam, and is willing to help you outside of class. You won't regret taking him!
I have to say, Professor Lopez's class is the best class I have ever taken. He is passionate and genuinely wants his students to pass; as long as you attend his (in-depth/amazing) lectures and do the homework, you will likely pass with an A or a B easy. Professor Lopez is easily one of the best lecturers I have ever experienced.
overall great professor. He actually helps you understand math, is always willing to help on the homework, and goes over any problems in class. Go to class if you want to do well on the tests. As long as you study a couple days before the test, you will do great. definitely recommend his class!
I would NOT recommend taking his class. He isn't very good at explaining material and being clear with his instructions. He gives a lot of homework that can be very difficult to do, but he does his best to explain it in class. He makes you feel bad for disturbing him during his office hours. But, his exams do help prepare for the final... SO STUDY!
Professor Lopez gives clear explanations and does problems in class so students understand the material. stats is hard so you have to attend class, he does give lots of homework but it can save your grade! He isn't very approachable but he will help you if you ask for it. There are 3 exams, and a cumulative final.
Such a great professor. I was really scared of taking Statistics, but he was great. I learned so much!!
Took this class for summer and can honestly say Eloy is a great professor . The class is not an easy A but its not impossible. It requires allot of studying and understanding concepts . I would recommend him to anyone looking for a math 140 class.
His notes are not very neat. Scribbles on the board, is not organized. I would message him to meet up outside his office hours because i had class during his actual office hours and he would not respond. I ended up taking this class again with another professor who explained the material much better.
he is a very chill professor who wants you to pass. if you are bad at math, i'd recommend taking this class with the lab or go to tutoring bc the material can be difficult and he goes through everything very quick. a total of 15 hw assignments and 3 exams. take him but make sure you actually try!!
Professor Eloy Lopez is an amazing lecturer. He goes pretty fast, but does a great job at in-depth explaining the lessons and he does problems from the homework to resolve any concerns/ questions. Make sure to do the homework as well as take good notes. I had to take a lab for this class so I recommend attending the lab every time to get more help.
This professor is rude and during his office hours his not at all friendly. His lecture notes go by fast and does not take the time to explain the material appropriately.
1st class he tries to scare people by saying it won't be easy and that they should drop if they're not ready to work hard, but he's actually one of the nicest professors I've met on campus. A lot of people asked silly questions in our class and he was always super patient with answering their questions. Great at explaining concepts, study for an A
Hybrid. This is the best math teacher I have ever had. Responds quickly to emails. Gives 2% extra credit if u show up every day. Make sure to study a lot after the first exam since people struggled with the material and most it would be on the final. The only hybrid part of the class is taking small quizzes on OLI. Always help his students.
He gives off this I dont care vibe but trust me he really cares about your grades. He really goes out of his way to make sure his students get the materials. Hes a very accessible professor and hes also a tutor in the math lab. Take advantage of his time and youll pass!
He gives a "practice" first test and if you don't pass he gives you the option to stay or leave. He truly cares about everyone. He is really funny too, whcih makes the lectures go by faster. One of the best professors I've ever taken for math. He keeps it real with anyone and will call you out! (in a good and maybe bad way)
Hardly catered to the needs of his students during this quarantine. He treated the class as if we were still attending his in-person classes. Ive emailed him several times for help and 90% of his responses were check canvas and when I looked through every single file and folder I could not find the answer to my question.
He responds with such sarcasm no matter what it is. When choosing my classes I used this site and unfortunately I needed this class so I was stuck taking the class with him and his time slot fit into my schedule. He doesnt put grades into canvas so you never know your grade. He is funny and tells stories but I think thats because he cant teach.
Eloy Lopez is a good teacher whether or not you pay attention to the lecture. It gets tought after the 3 week so its importnt that you read the material that he assigns for homework. It is alot of work but this class flys since he makes it easier to understand and easy to work with. In person you have test/quizess with si's and 2 midterms 1 final
Avoid him at all costs. He doesn't care about you or your grade - even if you put in the effort.
He's a little fast when teaching, I sometimes understood what we were learning, SI class helped a lot. About 20 quizzes (lowest 5 dropped), 2 tests, then final. Also homework is on OLI which is a one time pay. Go to class and pay attention, do ALL homework, and do your best on ALL quizzes. He teaches one way and quizzes/tests worded differently.
Makes the class very easy and does the much possible to help the students out so they can pass as log as you keep up with the lectures and homeworks you will do fine!
His class is one of the hardest i ever took this class. I tried so hard and I fail the test I had a C and the final failed me. He can be mean and he has a bit of an attitude don't recommend his class.
Honestly great teacher. Lectures fast and is brutal but honest. Funny slideshows. He reminds me of the cool uncle that everyone wants. He's very open about what will be quizzed on and where it will be important. HW and quizzes like once a week but pretty simple. Def would take him again if I could. Literally slay.
Avoid, if possible, acts like a hotshot, leaves 50% of your grade till the last month of the semester, doesn't post grades on canvas, only thing good is that he grades fast but in order to figure out your grade, you have to see him in his office hours. Sometimes helps but it is not the best help and a doesn't care vibe comes out sometimes.Sarcastic
Great professor. Seems to have a lot of experience teaching stats, with thorough walkthroughs on different problems and clear definitions. Gives a lot of homework, but it's necessary. Can be short with students, isn't the friendliest, but is straightforward about grades and what will be on exams. As long as you study you'll enjoy how he lectures.
Gets the job done. Not super nice, but if you have a decent understanding of math you will do okay. Go to office hours if you need help with any material. He curves exams, and grading scale is skewed in your favor. He just wants to pass everyone and you can tell. Write fast. Try not to pay for the digital book, it's not used often.
Stay on task he gives you no issues
I swore I sucked at math until I took this Professor. He cares about his students and explaining the material as clear as possible and even goes as far as helping you out on the quizzes. Has more patience than any math professor I've seen before. You will easily get an A in the class if you just show up and participate. Def one of my favorite prof
Professor Lopez is a good teacher, the course is easy to follow, he teaches you as if you're an elementary student so you can get a feel for how to teach your future students. My only complaint is that we do 8 quizzes throughout the semester, but even if you get 100% on all of them, you still can only pass the class by doing well on the final.
he's a good professor, only downside is that your grade is based on the quizzes and final. you have to take the final if you want to pass this course! there was a good amount of homework given but it was never graded and he would give the answers to the questions (quizzes are based on homework questions!)
This class does not require you attend all classes, but I highly recommend you do to better understand the material. If you miss one class you will definitely fall behind. The professor will help you understand problems you do not understand. All you have to do is ask.
Professor Lopez is a really knowledgeable person in statistics and is straightforward when it comes to teaching. Only advice I can give is to pay attention and participate, it gets confusing at times. He helps a lot if you ask them when you are confused or need help regarding homework. Overall a pretty good professor.
I took him for the summer and he was a really cool dude. He really preps you for the exams with study guides and the homework is very easy to do. For tests, he allowed a cheat sheet 8x12 paper both sides and he literally told you what questions were gonna be on the exam so he basically spoon fed us for the exams. Overall, he's a great professor.
