Else is a great prof. She made Monday mornings something to look forward too. I was a bit nervous before the course as I had no prior knowledge in accounting but she did a great job explaining the content. Her videos are also very helpful but she's not the easiest marker. Overall probably the best accounting prof at Ryerson. Highly recommend her.

At first I hated the flipped classroom but after week 3 or 4 I changed my mind. Helps you to understand what you know and what you suck at so you can study what you need to. If you're a student who crams you'll hate the flipped classroom because you have to do the work before class. I got used to it and pulled off an A-. Love her!

The flipped classroom structure was a bit annoying at first, but it actually forces you to learn the material. Do your readings, show up to every class, do the Aplia and iClicker for an easy A. Else really wants you to learn, she is a bit picky with marking though. Midterm and Exam were EXTREMELY fair, no surprises. Definitely take her!

Else is a great prof. She explains concepts clearly. I don't get why people don't like flipped class. If it wasn't flipped classroom, more people would fail the midterm and final because they wouldn't be forced to study. Midterms and finals are fair, no surprise. I don't like it when people blame their performance on the prof or the flipped class.

There is always an iClicker quiz each class and it's a flipped classroom so you have to read or watch the videos she posted beforehand. She's very enthusiastic about accounting and tells you how she marks. She emphasizes what conceptsentries would be on the exams. Overall, she's an amazing teacher!

Things I lovehate about Else. Love: excellent clear explanations, shows you exactly how she marks questions so you know how to answer, no surprises on midtermfinal. Hate: she talks really fast. Lovehate: flipped classroom. Really hated the quizzes but it forced me to keep up which was excellent. Her positives are worth it. Take her class.

Prof. Else is one of the best professors I had at Ryerson. I had her for both AFA 100 and 200. I really like her teaching style because she is very committed to students' success. She repeatedly makes sure that students understand the material and she is frequently available for extra help in her office.

The best accounting prof ever. Went into the course hating accounting because of my high school teachers and she completely changed that. Very very clear explanations, makes you work for your mark. You get iClicker quizzes for every lecture but you learn a lot about what she looks for in terms of your abilities because of them.

Don't make the same stupid mistake I did and study for these exams the night before. WATCH HER VIDEOS, DO THE PRACTICE QUESTIONS + REVIEW PACKAGES and i guarantee you will succeed.

Else is strict - maybe a little pettytedious at times. But she puts a LOT of effort into the course, and as a result I got a 98 on my final. Some of her rules are silly, but doing it her way pays off. She's a great teacher. Loved her dry humour and sarcasm - made class fun and fluid.

Amazing prof, really helps you to succeed in a class where apparently 40% of students either drop out or fail. She has daily quizzes to better your understanding, but her midterms and final exams are pretty much the same. Yea, she has tough exams but you're in uni to actually learn something and she most definitely teaches you something useful.

In all honesty, Else may come off as the type of prof who would make you work really hard to pass (practice questions). But it's worth it, she takes the time to explain ANYTHING you don't understand and tries to make everything as clear as possible so you can pass. She puts in the effort, so you should too. (PS: PLEASE DON'T SKIP LECTURES)

Materialworksheets we covered in class was an accurate representation of what was going to be on the exam. Pay attention, do your work, and you'll be fine!

Else is an awesome prof! I took the course in Chang where she has you work in groups which is really helpful because she assigns work in class where you can work together. She provides you with videos, and extra tools to help with understanding the material. No surprises on the midtermfinal. Take accounting with her if you can!!

Greatest Accounting teacher ever. I learned more from her than anyone. She can teach anyone. BUT tests are hard as ... yeah. You will learn a lot but will struggle to pass.

The course is flipped classroom, so make sure you go to her office hours and ask as many questions as you need to understand material. Doesn't disappoint!

Else is a very good teacher, possibly the best at Ryerson. She expects you to read and understand every chapter before coming to class and gives online homework but it's worth it, trust me. During lectures she explains topics perfectly/clearly with good examples and problems. She usually gives random clicker quizzes, but can't hurt to be prepared!

Amazing prof. I found many times that the methods she teaches in lectures are vastly superior to the methods the textbook will use and teach. If you keep up with the homework and show up to every lecture, I don't see any reason why you can't get at least an A-.

I found Else's class good but she is a bit scattered and not so clear as to what she's looking for on some assignments. She took some suggestions from the class which made things better towards the end of the semester. Tests are straight forward and similar to topics discussed in class.

Else is probably the most hard-working professor I've ever had. She answers the same repeated questions over and over again with patience, and will provide EVERYTHING that is even a fraction useful to her students - videos, extra problems, textbook solutions, practice cases etc. Awesome prof!

She is very specific with what she expects, format is everything! She makes accounting fun and uses examples that students can relate to, so we get a better understanding.

Doesn't shy away from conducting meaningful discussions and has the intent to help enhance conceptual understanding of the course coupled with problem-solving. Only feedback is that the pace of the lecture is uncomfortably fast (i.e for esl students) and is hard to follow even for students who come prepared, so supplementary materials are essential

My favourite and most inspirational professor I've ever had. She makes you work for your grade, doesn't mean she's hard. If you put the time and effort, you will do well. Essential for building a good foundation for upper year courses. 10/10 would recommend this prof!!

Else Grech is the most amazing teacher in the world. Offers videos online to help you learn and has very good iclicker quizzes. Wish I get her for my other courses. Very good exam and she loves her students so much and willing to explain things triple times. And helps with online homework.

The first thing Else said on the 1st day was, "At the end of this course you will either hate me or a light bulb will go off in your head". At first, I thought this course would be impossible, but if you show up, participate, and really pay attention you will do very well. This course ended up being my best grade thanks to Else! I've got to say she's an amazing prof. She truly cares for her students and wants the best for them. The prof isn't the problem it's the course. There's a lot of reading to do before class, and a lot of concepts to know for tests. Classes go in a fast pace because the amount of content. Make sure to do well on the midterm, so you can get a least a C+ overall and not have to repeat the course. You'll miss AFA100

Extremely difficult class but I have nothing but respect for this professor. One of the few humble professors at Ryerson who is open to helping students outside of class and always tries her best. AFA200 is one of the hardest SAF courses. having taken it with two profs i can say else is Godsent. She provides weekly lessons (like high school!)) that you can only fill out if you go to class which is awesome bc her lectures are insanely helpful. Provides endless resources and makes it extremely clear she wants you to do well.

Absolutely amazing professor! She is so thoughtful and having her students understand the material is her #1 goal. If she is teaching a class you need to take it!! Best SAF professor! I was really worried when I took this class again! But she made it so easy and understandable! She is like an accounting GOD!

Else is the best prof I ever had. Makes you work so hard and you'll hate her at first but she's prepping you for a harsh world because she cares. And you thank her in the end. Do everything you normally blow off: read the book, do all the optional hw, go to office hours to check her solutions book. Else will make you a better person.

You need to attend class and read the textbook ahead of time. You do daily in class quizzes that are based on the previous class and the current lecture. She sometimes picks people to go up and write down their answers on the board. The midterm and final were hard.

I originally had another teacher but acc100 wasn't a course i just wanted to pass i genuinely wanted to do well in it so as soon as i saw her name i switched because i knew she was gonna challenge me and make me work for my mark and she did exactly that. So inspiring and i am coming back to her for 406 .

Else is great in the classroom, if you are struggling, she is VERY HELPFUL during her office hours. She warns you about quizzes, there are daily quizzes so do NOT skip her class as it will affect your grade and you will fall behind

In my two years at Ryerson, she has to be the most amazing prof I have had. She makes lectures interesting and involves students in the work rather than merely reading off of something and doing the work herself. Attend her class and you will definitely understand everything, and she answers questions very clearly.

Else Grech made accounting interesting and informative. Her expectations of her students are very clear. If you take her advice, you will succeed in this and other courses.

She is literally the best professor I have ever had in my life. She is so helpful and dedicated to helping her students understand all the concepts. Even if you dont understand something in class just go to her office hours she'll show you how to do whatever you dont understand.

Professor Grech is a great lecturer. she clearly cares about her students' learning as well. She helps you as much as she can and is available in her office hours

Is she tough? Yes! Is she a good teacher? Yes! If you're planning on going into accounting she is a great professor to have because it only gets harder from here. She has extra office hours and she gives you lot's of at-home resources to help you learn. She makes you do a lot of the learning outside of class but it's worth it in the end.

The absolute best professor at Ryerson hands down. Incredible knowledge in accounting, makes sure her students learn properly, provides extremely professional YouTube videos and Webinars, best prof ever. Won't regret taking her if you truly value learning.

Lots of homework, but they definitely help you understand the course better. For my AFA100 class, we had to watch videos and answers the worksheets she provided every week, so that when you come to her lectures, you will have some ideas of what she's talking about. She's very organized and very easy to understand.

Although she can't make intermediate accounting easier, she makes many hard concepts easier to learn. Most importantly, she teaches you how to study for accounting courses.

Now I understand the importance when Else says to do all the textbook questions. Do them as many times as you can until you get comfortable with all the content, and you will do really well in this course. Else is an extraordinary prof since AFA100, and continuing on my Accounting courses, she always make accounting easier to understand.

PROF ELSE IS WONDERFUL. Treats you with respect unlike other profs, and wishes nothing but the best for her students. Its so easy to ask her a question because she will explain the concept again and again until u get it without getting tired. Great prof! She goes above and beyond to ensure that all her students understand the material. All tests/exams had fair questions, nothing too hard but you do have to do all the practice questions to succeed.

Take this with a grain of salt but... it might be that all the people complaining slacked off after the midterm. She told us that the latter half of the course was a lot harder. If you grinded, went to every lecture, did all of the pre and post-lecture work, and want to give this prof a bad grade be my guest. But I doubt that's the case.

Else Gretch Is One Of The Best Instructors In Terms Of Teaching Ability. The Midterms And Finals leave a bit to be desired. If you study properly and do the homework questions you will do fine in the class. Although the tests only ask for final answers so if you made a calculation error you would get that entire mark wrong since there is no proof.

She is such an amazing professor and has helped me better understand accounting than any of the other accounting professors I've had so far. The course itself wasn't very tough and content was pretty straight-forward. The quizzes and midterm was easy if you do the practice she assigns. But like everyone else here, that final exam was something else

Else is an amazing prof who warned us that the final exam was going to be difficult and mostly concentrated on the new topics which were very difficult compared to the topics on the midterm. She also mentioned that she wasn't making the final exam.

Very good professor and would highly recommend. Just study and do practice questions just like any other course and youll be fine. The influx of negative reviews are due to salty people who did bad on the final exam and midterm.

Else's teaching and lecture style was amazing for me personally. She makes everything very straightforward, and her tests were exactly like her practice/homework questions. My only issue is that the exams are on D2L, so if you make a calculation error and your final answer is wrong, you don't get any part marks for your work.

However, the AFA200 final exam was structured not really well because if you make a mistake, then the rest of the question will be wrong.

One of the best profs I ever had, she is so brilliant in what she does and you can tell she teaches because she loves too. Else was my first accounting prof and she set the bar so high. Such an amazing human inside and out. She makes you work for the mark but she gives you a perfect guide on how to achieve success.

She's a sweet prof and tries to make sure that you understand the concepts during lectures. Sometimes she does move a little fast with the material so you need to copy notes really quick - she doesn't record lectures. But she answers questions throughout and addresses any confusion. Tests are tough if you don't study and solve practice questions.

I don't know why everyone on here is whining. This course because of her teaching style was one of my fav courses. She completely sets you up for success you just have to put in the work. Really interesting material, does require steady and regular practice. If you don't want to work don't take this class but you'll miss out, I learned a lot.

Else does expect students to do a lot but it really was one of my favourite classes last semester. Requires you to have watched videos and do worksheets ahead of class and if you don't you'll be screwed, but she explains in ways that are understandable and her hw questions are exactly like the midterm/final.

Overall, Else was a great prof. She may come off as rude sometimes, but shes extremely knowledgeable and is always glad to help. Her teaching isnt the problem, its the content itself that is hard. Else is truly an amazing professor and she really tries to make sure her students do well. The course itself is genuinely hard and it only consists of testing. There is no homework or assignments. The only flaw is that she doesn't respond to emails on time, so you will have to post on the d2l discussion board if you have any questions.

Else Grech teaches a tough course. You're most likely learning new things every week. That's not her fault. She provides you with tons of materials and goes through the main content with you in class. She WILL NOT spoon feed you everything. You're going to need to do lots of self teaching in this course but Else will be there to answer questions.

Else was such a great prof! She was really patient in our lectures and tried to help us understand the concepts as much as possible. She offered a lot of help and gave great materials for the midterm and final exam, including problems she makes up herself for each lecture. I would definitely recommend her for this course.

Else is patient, honest, and fair. If you work hard, you'll pass, and Else will help you along the way. Her course is organized and she doesn't make you buy a textbook you'll only use once. Only down side is she doesn't answer emails quickly, so talk to her in person if you need clairification.

Really caring and passionate prof. Does everything to prep you for midterm/ exam/ quizzes. Does lots of practice questions. The only way you'll do good in this course is if you do ALL the practice questions from each chapter.

She is really passionate about teaching and preparing students for PEP. She provides very clear instructions and won't surprise/trick you on exams. Watch all the youtube videos, do the webinar problems and assigned homework to get a reasonable grade. Do not select the "10% homework option", it becomes way too much work if you are in other courses.

If you take else as the prof you for sure will learn accounts and she asks stuff out of only what is taught!

TBH, i think the negative reviews are from people who are just bad at accounting. The course is not that hard. And Prof Else is incredible and extremely caring. The tests are not crazy hard, she goes through as many examples as she can and I enjoyed the way she does her lectures. She will teach you everything, even the stuff you have forgotten.

Else is without a doubt the best professor at this university. I've never seen a professor put in so much work to help her students through a course. The course itself is a massive jump up from anything else so far in the program, but she gives you every opportunity and resource to help you succeed.

Else is a wonderful professor. The class itself is notoriously difficult, and she can't do anything about that. She does her best to teach the material, covering actual problems that would show up in homework (and exams). She is a very fair grader, even generous. Do the assignment questions to practice, show up to every lecture, and you'll pass.

The course itself is very difficult and the material you learn in AFA 100 does not prepare you for this class at all which is where I think a lot of her bad reviews stem from. However she works very hard to try to explain the content and posts lots of additional resources which are helpful. For a course of this difficulty level, she did her best.

The best afa prof at the uni, the course is the first real accounting class most people have taken, with students having low foundational knowledge and this class being a big jump, you wont 100% find out you're doing things wrong study-wise until post-midterm This class wasn't impossible but you need to devote HOURS everyday to studying to do well

Professor Grech is very fair and delivers her lectures in great detail. She uses lots of examples of different scenarios for bookkeeping and such. The homework assignments are great practice and 9/10 will be the same questions that are on the tests. Last-minute studying will NOT work for this class, practice and repetition is key!!

Only downside about here is she kinda has unrealistic expectations where she expects us to do every question in the textbook. Professor Else was always keen on our perspective/opinion as students and not just the way she wanted stuff. Also, giving her best effort to keep the class updated as much as possible during lectures and after class through posted lectures, videos, exam/test reviews (from in class & prior semesters), and emails. Great sense of humour as well.

The good thing about her is she reviews past material so your not behind incase you have forgotten things which other profs do not do. She is only the only prof that makes videos and actually goes through questions in class step by step unlike every other professor.

Great prof teaches a hard class. She is always accessible and teaches pertinent questions in class. Stay on top of the class work and do the recommended questions every week and you'll be fine. Course material can be challenging but Else does her best to explain concepts in class. Always accessible with office hours and responds to discussion board often.

AFA400 is not an easy course. Else overcomes this obstacle by teaching with a highly detailed and comprehensive lecture style with openness to questioning and discussion. The course is very content heavy and requires independent learning. To make the workload manageable Else provides external resources, office hour sessions, and discussion boards.

Else provides many resources and will explain questions multiple times. You really notice the difference she makes in teaching when you take 500 and have to self learn.

Else is a good prof probably one of the best in the accounting department. I had her for AFA 300 and AFA 400 and she will make you work for your grades but she provides lots of additional resources to help you succeed. Both AFA 300 and 400 are hard classes and that is not her fault. These classes would be hard with any other prof as well.

Absolute great professor for Management Accounting and Integration, too bad it'll be her last time teaching them, but it was a wonderful experience and she provided excellent ways to be competent in case writing. You do need to put into the work regularly to practice case writing and debrief each case to be successful in these two courses.

Else is probably the best accounting prof at TMU. She will always let you know that what she teaches in class is what she tests you on during assessments and it's true. This class however is a lot of work and that's just how it's designed to be. Most people who do bad are probably lazy to review the material properly and/or don't show up to class.

Not sure how she is for AFA 400 and 500, but she makes the AFA 300 exams really difficult. She's a great professor, but her exams are hard.

Else is a great professor and she gave guidances for all the content. 300 is more difficult compares to 100 but she is so knowledgeable and she explained every concept clearly. Imo both midterm and final are easier than practice questions she assigned so you should be fine if you did all the practices. She is super approachable as well.

Amazing professor!! might be the best prof i had since 1st year. i had her for ACC110 and it was so easy with her. attend her lectures!!!!! attending her lectures will automatically get you a A. im not even kidding. do the homeworks and the tests properly. midterm and finals are really easy and fairly marked (that is if you practice)

Prof Else really enjoys teaching and you can tell. Her lectures are great and she does a lot of work outside of class with videos. However, AFA300 is a difficult class so be prepared to do a lot of work. If you practice a lot and study for exams, you will get a decent grade. The final was easier than the mt. She marks the case test easily too.

Else is a great and very knowledgeable prof. AFA 300 is a very heavy course, so make sure to be prepared before lectures and devote extra time. A big benefit is that she teaches CPA capstone modules so try to absorb all the knowledge.Lectures are fast-paced, and attendance is not mandatory but you don't want to miss class as you'll have huge gaps.

Else is amazing teacher, and very involved. Would expect you to read before, or watch her through online lecture, and then solve problems in class with her. Do not expect to babyfeed you for financial accounting. She is the reason I became confident in my career switch to accounting

Great prof she is super nice and explains content very well. During lecture she does exam questions step by step with full explanations. THE FINAL IS ROUGH! She gives you more than enough resources to prep (100+ extra Q&As & vid tutorials), but even when fully prepped it will take all 3 hours (time is tight) also it is worth 50% of your grade.

I'm not sure about people. I did very poorly on the Midterm and managed to pass the class. Anyone who says she is bad doesn't understand ball. She was a great prof( yes she does go fast) but she didn't choose to not post her lecture it was her boss (higher ups). Exam was fair (except transfer price) but was long. Overall she was a supr good prof.

Don't understand the bad reviews tbh. Yes, the final was long, but the question difficulty was the same as the textbook and her in-class lecture problems. Just watch her videos before class, so you come prepared and understand the material. She highlights the important questions in the textbook for you to cover, and she is a super light marker.

I know every RMP 5 stars say ignore the bad ratings, but do, ignore the bad ratings. Prof else cares alot about accounting and teaches it well! Attend her lectures, do the prior lecture videos, and be ready to do practice work. Take initivate and ull do well.

Okay so I know a lot of people were not particularly happy with the final. I agree, it was a lot to cover in three hours. I was able to finish 30 minutes early. The key to the class is simply to practice every single question on her list of questions from the textbook, and multiple times. That's what got me 100% on the final.

Great professor. Responded to emails and forum posts quickly. Clearly communicated expectations. She does not pull punches. Held live sessions and recorded them. I found this course too heavy on material and grading criteria: textbook chapters, weekly MyLabs homework, midterm, group project, discussion posts, and final exam. You MUST practice.
