I HAS PROFESSOR BEAUPIERRE FOR THE SUMMER AND SHE SHE IS KINDEST PROFESSOR ANY PERSON COULD EVER HAVE. SHE VERY HELPFUL AND UNDERSTANDING. JUST MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR WORK FROM A&P BECAUSE SHE CAN GET A LITTLE UPSET IF YOU DONT REMEMBER CERTAIN THINGS. SHE MAKES MICROBIOLOGY VERY FUN AND INTERESTING.
Dr. B was a fantastic teacher. For an information filled 5 week course she was extremely clear and helpful. She guided you through a course that you can easly get lost in. I could only imagine how much you can learn from a full semester course. Thanks Dr. B
you need to study, study and study. Good but very tough. You will learn a lot. If you don't want to study, don't take the class.
A& P classes are hard. You need to put the time, but when your teacher is a Dentist with a bad attitude very negative . Basically she doesn’t teach she intimidates, and scares you out, no form of respect for her students. Being firm is good, but when you down grade your student that is pitifully.
She is very helpful. At first, she scares you but during the summer she gave great review sheets. grades u on performance, behavior and prev. knowledge. if no1 participates she picks on people. dont believe everything she has on the first day!
Had her for lab. Feels like boot camp the first week. She calls on ppl which I hated & can be crude/crass towards some students. Get on her good side & she won't be as hard on you. She let us make index cards which added max 10 pts. onto an exam! Grading she's not bad I got a 94 which helped out my lect grade. Don't let her scare/intimidate you.
Just finished up Medical Micro with Dr.B.The first day I said why me lord? why did I get this professor.she seemed mean and hard.I was wrong I ended up really liking her.She is very tough, but she helps you and she wants her students to make an effort to be the best they can be and not to just try to pass the class. She is fantastic.take her.
she's very tough, but wants to prepare you. material must be read before she even teaches it. refers a lot back to a&p 1. her notes consist of writing down EVERYTHING she says, no board writing. she does give handouts sometimes. her exams are time-consumingly difficult. she grades based on exams, class participation, and attendance.
waste of tuition $. will end up teaching yourself. must have chapters read BEFORE class. ALL dictated notes. hard exams, consists of m.c.+essays. adjunct prof, forget trying to contact her. wasted time talking about her daughter, missed the last 2 chapters, made us write a paper on them in place of exam. +3 assignments. overall, TOO MUCH STRESS!!!
She's a great professor. Loved her class.. Yeah, its a lot of work, but if u study & read u'll do well. 3 Lec exams (which consist of mc, essays & scenarios), 3 lab exams, an accumulative final & 3 short papers to write. I would definitely recommend her. Got an A - and worked damn hard for it.
I LOVED HER!!! AT FIRST SHE SEEMS LIKE A HARD A$$ BUT ONCE YOU PROVE YOURSELF TO HER SHE IS AMAZING! SHE PREPARES YOU FOR THE MEDICAL FIELD! VERY INTELLIGENT AND EXPECTS YOU TO BE PREPARED. YOU MUST READ BEFORE CLASS AND ANSWER QUESTIONS! HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!!!
Shes really really good! 1st day of class was scary! she called on me randomly 3x n i dint kno d ansa 2 any! it requires a lot of studyin, seein i took it in summer & i had an A. just 2 ppl droppd the class, 80% had As n Bs. things she tot me stayed wit me after d class. I RECOMMEND HER for hardworking students. if u lazy, look for som1 else :)
She's very tough which she has to be because there's a lot of risk in the lab. You can't be careless. Always lectures about being a health professional. Her exams are straight forward, no curve balls. As long as you study hard you can get an A. I should've taken this course during regular semester instead of summer. Would've learned more.
Best professor I have ever had. I learned so much from her about the human body, the nursing career, and life. She's tough but I love her.
Lectures but doesn't convey the information in a meaningful way, reciting from memory text material isn't teaching, doesn't embrace technology,is unprepared, disorganized, blames class for her being behind, unreachable after class, tests are unnecessarily hard, always belittles students.I'm sorry for students who think this is what a good teacher is.
She makes you work and you WILL learn. EXCELLENT Prof, you have to want the grade and willing to earn your A.
I learned so much from her. Look, you MUST be prepared or she will call you out and embarrass you. Know your stuff is all. If you're not majoring in health, find a different professor. The reason I liked her is because she explains how the body works until you understand. If you like to ask questions, this is your professor. Not for the lazy.
This professor is unprofessional in her attitude and demeanor. She does not encourage her students, will insult you, and despises being asked questions/being corrected. She tells us to email her at a specific email and does not respond. Says she will be there for extra help and does not show up. Avoid at all costs. Take Micro with someone else.
Dr. Beaupierre is an awesome professor!!!! She's tough, but with good reason. She pushes you to learn the material. She's not a mean professor. Not a class for a lazy student, you will work hard for your grade. I got an A in her class & that's because I worked hard for it! I would take any class she teaches!!!! She cares about our future!!!
Dr. Beaupierre was an excellent professor! I know she may seem intimidating at first but she honestly cares about all of her students. Passing the class won't be easy because she expects you to be on top of the material. She knows the content very well and is willing to help you if you put in the effort. Best professor I've had at NCC by far!
I had Prof. Beaupierre for Anatomy and Physiology 2 and she was amazing. She encourages students who takes interest and eager to learn. She can be tough and intimidating, but just study hard participate and she will push you and help you to succeed. Gives a lot of supplemental material which really helps with the notes and reviews.
Save yourself. If you have the opportunity to take someone else, do it asap.
This Professor is great she cares a lot about her students, she may seem very strict but its only because she wants you to succeed in her class, I learned so much and I took her about a year ago and her lectures and the way she teaches will help you remember things for life! Take her class shes great but you do need to study.
Dr. Beaupierre is a great professor. She does not attempt to trick the students. Test are right out of lecture. Participation is mandatory and worth many point. This is not a class for lazy students. Do your Work... Get an A fair and square... That simple
Literally the best professor Ive ever had in my entire six years of college in two different countries. Shes a teacher for life, not just for credit course. She may appear intimidating at first, but she truly cares for her students. Worth my entire Saturdays for these past four months!
Good teacher. Lecture + testing based mainly on what she says and her handouts. Tests can be a little tricky but she curves and allows you to argue for points if questions on the test are unclear.
Dr. Beaupierre. She is very inspirational. On the first day of class she can come off intimidating, but don't pay attention to that, Its her style of teaching and it works. I took Micro over the summer and it was very intense but she put in the time to make sure all her students understand the material. Class participation matters. Read before clas
Please avoid this woman at all cost. I received a A in her class, not that she taught me anything, I already have advance knowledge in biology. She treat students so bad, her attitude is extremely horrible, for students sakes I really hope shell stop teaching, because shes really damaging her students.
Be ready for drama! The worst test environment ever! No explanation of what you are supposed to do... if you ask you will get yelled at. She is definitely bipolar. In my eyes... absolute s***show. Avoid her.
I had prof. B for AHS132 during the pandemic. Both lab & lecture were all on zoom. Shes definitely not the easiest professor. She will make you work hard for your grade. I was not a fan of her exams at all. They're pretty difficult. HOWEVER, aside from class she tutored us 2x week for FREE for 2hours! Take advantage of her help.
She will show you tough love. Shes very strict! Get ready to read and study ALOT! Shes horrible with answering emails and getting back to you. She doesnt give you breaks in class. So be prepared. However she taught me so much! I
Another professor who doesn't care one bit about the the students and only wants to collect a paycheck. The absolute worst experience so far at NCC. Tests are hard, lectures are not even helpful, just read the book yourself and youll pass. Don't expect to receive any communication outside your Zoom class because he said "thats her time" not yours.
She puts trick questions on his tests, this caused me to waste my time trying to figure out a question that had no answer and left me with no time to answer other questions thus bringing my grade down. When I confronted her about this she laughed. I didn't learn anything in this class. Poor teaching and lack of compassion for students who work!!
If you purchased the book by yourself and read it, you would be no worse than attending the online Zoom class. Prof's does not empower the student, no real world examples, just straight reading from the book. No extra credit opportunities. Test's aren't too hard, but he always throws in a bonus question, which no one every gets, so that's a waste
Had her for AHS 131. I did not like the way the class was run at all. we really didnt follow the course outline and at the end of the semester when we were pressed for time, she skipped over certain topics that will serve as the foundation for AHS 132. I will probably have to repeat AHS 131. PLEASE STAY AWAY!!! Cannot use Zoom either, really bad!
Another teacher to avoid like the plague in the NCC Allied Health Science dept. Where do I start. Just do yourself a favor, pick another prof. Doesn't provide much instruction during labs. As other's have said, does not answer emails so its impossible to contact her outside of class. She doesn't offer office hours. Not what you expect in higher ed.
I really didn't care for for this professor. The way she spoke to the students is what really bothered me, she always belittled them. Points for being a pre-med major! Class is boring and she always makes mistakes and when questioned be gets upset. Tests are curved, which I still dont understand as to why. Don't talk during lab or you be yelled at.
The semester is over and I'm glad to be done with this professor. I wish I read these reviews prior!! One of the worst professors at NCC! I worked so hard for a B because I had to essentially teach myself the course. This professor is horrible and shouldnt be allowed to teach. Negative attitude and gets upset very quickly if you ask her to explain.
Her lectures are only from the book. That's it. No additional examples just all from the book. No engagement in class, just read the textbook before each class. Very strict grader, no clear grading rubric which could be good or bad for some. Being an AHS major no clear grading rubric was a no for me. I will not enroll in future courses with her.
I agree with all the others, so bad. Her lectures via Zoom are so dry that I often find myself looking a the wall in my home. She doesn't give any partial credit on her exams and likes to debate you as to why. Tests are nothing like what we review in class, they seem 3x as harder. She's not available outside of the classroom and doesn't email back.
Had in Fall 2020 with this prof. I earned a A, but let me tell you I went over and above in my effort. I had to teach myself the material and spend most of my own free time to understand it. Test's are hard to finish in the time given, no extra credit allowed. Bad prof!!!
No clear direction in this class. Does not follow the syllabus and jumps around from topic to topic. Creates power point slides that are a direct copy of the text book. Let me also add that the text book must be purchased or else you will fail the class, profs words, not mine. No class organization, lack of structure and teaching techniques.
I rarely do reviews but I feel I must. As others have stated, the review sheets are one thing and the test are the complete opposite. Very hard to get in touch with outside of the Zoom session. Office hours do not exist with this professor. I wouldn't recommend this teacher if you're serious about Nursing, will not prepare you for AHS 132.
You don't want to take a professor like her for such a complex class. She's is not helpful, during the whole semester he taught only 2 or 3 lectures the rest is left for you to do on your own. She does not have a good rating from me. Waste of money and time :-( Lectures were boring and she gave no other examples besides the ones in the textbook.
Please stay away from this professor! I have nothing good to say about the way this course was taught through Zoom. Lectures were a total joke and we were always let out early. That might seem cool but if you multiply that by the whole semester we lost a week of class and she skimmed topics at the end to catch up. Tests are hard and hard to finish.
Had in Spring 2021, still using Zoom. I can agree with the comments below. Trick questions on tests, never available for office hours help. Most of the time the prof had a snappy response if you do not understand the topic and ask questions. I wish I took another prof. I feel like I wasted a semester and will have to retake the class over again.
Definitely not the best choice of a professor to be taking for a course like this. She's not very helpful when it comes to explaining it in a way that us students can understand, trust me, you will have a hard time. I'm saving you on time and money. Pick some other professor in the department.
The semester is over and I don't think I learned anything new. I wouldnt recommend taking this professor. She is very unorganized and is frequently late to class. Tests have trick questions so watch out. Gives a lot of homework that is sometimes graded. Be aware of pop quizzes to see whos doing the required readings. I dont like her teaching style
Once of my worst experiences at NCC. I learned nothing and am not prepared for the next level course. Prof reads from the book and cannot give real world accounts of her experience in the health care field. Tests are hard and we are not allowed to keep them for our records. She often argues with students who try and correct her. Please stay away!!!
I wouldn't recommend taking this professor. Tests were very hard and getting extra help outside the classroom setting in nonexistent. She responds to emails but that's after the homework is handed in and graded. I would avoid this professor because the department has better ones for the same course.
I had to drop this class in the Spring of 2021 due to professor not letting me take a test that I missed because my grandmother passed away and I attended the funeral. I couldn't believe how rude and nasty she was given my situation. I was never offered a make up exam even though I begged her. Future students please beware and do not take her!
I really didn't like the way this class was conducted. Those students who asked questions and for the professor to repeat herself were always singled out as "bad students". I really didnt learn a lot in this class but got an A. Tests are difficult but you need to read the book on your own and essential teach yourself. I would avoid this prof.
What a train wreck this class was! Prof. was always late to class and blamed traffic, but yelled at students who were 2 minutes late when she was on time. No one ever had enough time to finish the tests and she was forced to curve almost every test during the semester. Lectures are boring and taken directly from the book. Half the class dropped her
Very difficult tests! I feel the review sheets and practice examples are nothing like the tests. Some students have addresses this concern only to be dismissed by the professor.
Ugh, where do I start? This has been the most disorganized and "fake it until you make it" class Ive taken at NCC. The Allied Health Science Department should be ashamed of this prof. Test are crazy hard, no extra credit allowed. Points taken off your final grade if you are late to the Zoom class. I could go on forever!!! Please do not take!!
Had this instructor for my clinical rotation during the pandemic. The way she would group all of us together prior to rotations was a joke. she didnt listen to the needs of certain students and made their experience horrible. I tried to have a one on one discussion about my concerns and I was dismissed and told to be quiet. Epic fail NCC!!
Please stay away from this professor!! I have nothing good to say about the way this course was taught through Zoom. I learned nothing in this course and I wasted my money and time. These were some of the hardest tests I ever took.
I will never forget Professor Elsie for the rest of my life. She is the most caring and passionate instructor I have ever come across with by far. She really cares about teaching. Every single one of her student's success matter to her in lectures. Register to her class if you really want to learn the material for your career.
I can honestly say that this class was a waste of time with this prof. My questions were never answered and it seems like she was upset that I even asked! Tests are straight forward if you read the material but she likes to put lots of tricks on her exams. I would not take this professor again and would warn future students.
Shes the best. I would recommend this class to everyone. All you have to do is apply yourself the class is really simple.
Not a pleasant student experience in this class. I would ask for further clarification on some of the topics discussed only to be dismissed and my question not answered. Exams were hard and lots of students failed. I would not recommend this professor.
DR.B. is very straight forward , old school way of teaching which is the best !. If you want to learn material and not succeed, she is the one. You cant want it easy, you have to work hard. she is their to help you even before or after class. Honestly I wish I can have her for my nursing classes. Work hard , read her reviews and you will be fine.
AMAZING PROFESSOR ! Read material and you will Ace her exams! she reviews before exams and prepares you. If you want to take an easy professor she is not the one, but if you want to learn and have a professor who will teach you for your nursing career, she is the one for you, Read the chapters ahead of class and be prepared to answer questions.
Professor B is not what these review say, she is actual very nice and funny! she does make you work hard, however she prepares you for exams. You miss a class, make sure to make it up bc its a lot of material. She does zoom and extra help. Don't look for easy way out! read chapters , reviews and packets . BEST Professor
Dr. B is an amazing professor. If you put the time and work in it will clearly reflect your grade. She has zoom extra helps, she comes in early before lab & lecture and stays afterwards as well to deal with any concerns. She has old school principles and really wants to prepare you for the real world which I truly respect. She does not play around!
Professor Beaupierre is amazing.. She is strict. She can be harsh at times. BUT she is one of the most passionate and caring individuals I have ever had Take her class if you're here to learn and do well. Don't take her class if you're gonna be lazy. She will prepare you well.
be prepared to learn , study her material, read chapters! she is tough but amazing at teaching the material. she is very straight forward ! if you put in the work, you will pass . She is very great !
Dr. B was amazing!! Tough but it's only because she cares. The material will definitely stick with you. As long as you study & put in the work.. you'll be fine!! Make sure you read & participate as well. She reviews before all her test & puts in the effort to help her students.
CARING PROFESSOR ! Will help her students succeed & pass! very straight forward , reviews before each exam. Read chapters and review you will be fine! GREAT PROFESSOR
Rad chapters, summary and visual summaries. She prepares students well for exams. If you put in the effort she will consider your effort. she gives extra credit and does zoom extra help. Never met a caring professor . PLEASE take her !!!
Please stay away from this professor!! I have nothing good to say about the way this course was taught through Zoom.
Great professor. She wants nothing but the best for her students. She teaches the material in a way for it to stick with you for a lifetime. She provide reviews every week. Textbook is needed for this class. Participate and stay engaged.
If you like a class that is all fun and games then this is the class for you. This class was run like a circus that just happen to be on college property. Every other sentence was a joke but no one in the class was laughing. Tests are hard and you have to do reading out side the classroom because she does not teach effectively. Stay Away Please.
Not a good experience with this professor my online class. She had issues with using Zoom and often forgot about students in the waiting room for more then half of the lecture. Tests were nothing like the practice exams we were given in class.
I had high expectations before taking this class and that went out the window after the first exam. Exams are nothing like the practice ones and only three students finished in the allowed time. Labs are useless and she does NOT encourage group work. Lots of students dropped this course and will have to repeat it.
Dr. B is a tough professor but she is very fair. You will learn alot and will have to work hard in this class if you want to do well. Participate and be knowledgeable about some of the concepts because she will call on you. If you study at least an hour a day and make your own quizlets and/or flash cards based on the material you will do well.
I really didn't care for for this prof. The way she spoke to the students is what really bothered me, she always belittled them. Points for being a Science major! Class is boring and she always makes mistakes and when questioned she gets upset. Tests are curved, which I still don' understand as to why. Don't talk during lab or she will yell at you.
If you genuinely want to learn, she is an excellent professor. She is thorough and holds you accountable for the material because she wants you to succeed. Study and pay attention in her class, and you'll do well! it's better take this with someone that explains the work effectively rather than professors who just read word for word off the slides.
She is not a good professor stay away she is rude and not understanding she will be nice at first but grades unreasonably tough and gives extremely confusing assignments that a hand full of students will understand and then when the rest of the class did not do it right she will say its their fault because a couple students did what she wants
prepare before each class
Tests make up pretty much all of the grade and there is not much material to prepare you for the test questions. Homework is completion graded and is not relevant to test material. Grades in this class are average. You really have to work hard if you want B or A
I definitely questioned how I was going to make it out of summer semester alive & with a good grade! while learning from Dr. B, I noticed her heart. she is EXTREMELY strict, but solely b/c she cares about the success of her students & was extremely encouraging &inspiring for me. safe to say I LOVED this class &would take Dr. B again in a heartbeat!
The BEST PROFESSOR EVER, if you really serious about ur career, and learning you really want to challenge yourself..DR BEAUPIERRE is it…..she is not for the weak.
She's truly an incredible and caring professor. She really wants to see each student succeed. Her reminders that you CAN do it helped and was motivational as well. Prepare before each class by reading the necessary chapters and don't be afraid to ask questions. Attendance is mandatory to not fall behind!
Dr B is the Best! She cares about her students and motivate you to continue growing. You need to prepare before each class and read the chapters. Participation is a must, you will end the class understanding the material.
Have to get the lab manual. Lecture she puts everything up. It's best to also print out the slides she puts up. She goes over the questions for each exam and even does active recall for lab preparation. She's a good professor, but is tough, but only because she cares! I'd take her again because she makes sure you know the material.
