goes fast through everything, doesn't explain what is going on, just all theorem
She trys hard and cares. HW is worth so much that it makes it easy to do well.
she tries.
NO PARTIAL CREDIT, hard to listen to, doesn't explain anything

When asking a?,she never lets you finish, and never answers what you really a
The most extremly horrible teacher that has ever or will ever walk this earth.
THE BEST!!
I like how you treat our tests, as far as how many points they are worth. DE is a difficult subject to understand and it helps me that our homeworks are a large part of our grade and I don't get so tense at test time. I am more relaxed, so I learn more.
So Damn Annoying

Is one of my better teachers. She will help you as much as she can. When she doesnot answer a question it is because she does not want to hold your hand through the problem, but she helps you think about it. After awhile you can understand her accent.
Some people shouldn't teach.

This class is tough as it is, to have a professor that you can't understand is not a helpful advantage.
Hate her with a burning passion of a thousand suns
She is a great teacher!
Her class does not prepare you for the common final. What a horrible teacher!
Her lectures provide a good time to do other homework.
Her accent is a bit tricky to get used to, but she's interesting and funny. Homework and attendance is a must. She teaches how to do the homework well, but read the book for a better understanding of the material. Tests are based heavily on homework.
She seems to drag on about everything. Not hard to follow but it just takes forever to learn anything!
annoying, puts me to sleep...everyday
Overall a good instructor. Course is kind of tough, but if you take notes its not too bad. She has excleent knowledge of the material and is more than willing to help and answer any questions. Her english isn't that great though. I would reccomend her.
She is always ready to help but her lectures drag on.
Pretty good teacher, knows her stuff. Even says cute stuff like, "Sit down and cry" and winks alot.

does a great job
She gave away the exact test at the review sessions. Completely worthless course.
Not bad, I didn't attend 2/3 of the lectures but still got an A. Awesome review sessions. Though, I couldn't stand her voice. The accent isn't a problem, just her shrill, deranged muppet voice. It's hard to describe.
DR. Akin-Bohner is very good about making bullsh- I mean, Calc easier and more tolerable than any other Calc teacher I have had.
She is a great teacher!
great!
She really cares about the students. Unfortunately, she is controlled by Mrs. Kirgan, the Math department chair. Naturally, it ruins her otherwise excellent class. She might teach well, but the class is HARD.
good teacher
The best math teacher I have ever had. Made Calc 2 easy!
I don't know what it was, But, the way she dress got me goin', I friggin love those boots of her. GRRRRRRRRRRRR
She is one of the best calculus professors @ Rolal.
Very good teacher. Her voice is a little annoying but as a teacher she is good.
she's a very good teacher
Covered new material the day before the exam and put it on the exam
I think she is a great teacher. She takes the time to teach and tell you the things you need to know as well as holding review sessions. As of yet I have not felt that calc two is hard and it's supposed to be.
she uses ok too much first it hurts your ears than you get used to it she is a great helper
Has a good personality, may be hard to understand for the first week or two.
Great teacher
her name is akin bohner. hahahhahahahahahaahah. but seriously folks, good prof. "what do we do about it? cry?" good personality. helpful if you ask. calc sucks, but at least she makes it comprehensible and dare i say not completely and utterly boring.
She explains things in ways that I understand.
She is very hard to understand. She emphasises words too much and too loudly. If you act confident in front of her, she seems to go out of her way to make your life hell. She does not go over the right topics. she sets up problems but then expects the ta to answer any questions.
U Sustution. and We have fun.
Prof. Akin rocked. She was funny and nice, and really wanted all of her students to do well. The test were really easy too, especially if you go to the review session the night before the test:)
She is a great prof. At first she's hard to understand, but it grows on you. She is always willing to help.
great teacher, simplifies the material instead of just going through the proofs. very nice, wants her students to do well, and because of that she gives many obvious hints about the tests. she's also one of my friendliest profs.
She is the best math teacher! She really cares about her students and their success. She is entertaining and her accent is adorable!
She is so nice and caring. She is a really good teacher and I would rearrange my schedule to have her as my professor again. The accent was difficult the first few class sessions, but was fine once I got used to it. The class isn't easy, but it is the material not her teaching that make it that way.
Very nice, truly concerned about students understanding of material and student grades. Very prompt with e-mails and posting grades, I would rearrange my schedule to have her again, she was one of the best professors I've had anywhere.
I honestly didn't understand most of the topics covered in this class. I don't know if it was her accent or just the way the material was presented, but it just didn't click with me. Never really seemed overly helpful to me, but I'll giver her some credit.
I loved Dr. Akin. She is an awesome teacher, and I wish she taught calc 3. I would love to have her again. I acctually learned in her class.
Great calc 2 teacher. Everyone should take her.
Dr. Akin is always enthusiastic and cheerful.
Best calc teacher I've had so far. She really cares that her students understand the material.
Awesome calc 2 teacher, she really knows the material and cares whether or not students understand it.
Great professor
Very Friendly and helpful but you better sit in front or you wont understand her accent.
She isn't above any of her students, which is good because she explains things in terms that everyone can understand. Definitely pick her as your Calc II professor if you can.
Sit in front rows or you won't understand her accent.Gives treats if you go to LEAD.Really enthusiastic about the subject.Great teacher.
She was a good teacher. I little hard to understand at first, but you eventually get used to her accent.
Good Teacher hard to understand at times though
The greatest DiffEQ professor to ever live!
She has a slight accent, but she isn't difficult to understand at all and she is very interesting in trying to keep the class fresh.
Terrible Teacher
She is nice and teaches the material well.
Best Calc II teacher you can get. Seriously, just look at her spreadsheets compared to the other lecturers. She always has at least twice as many A's. Class is not easy, but she does the best she can to tell you exactly what you need to know for the tests.
Great teacher for an otherwise tough class. Hard to understand at first, but you can get used to it. She really cares about her students. She should be teaching more classes other than this and DiffEQ!
Good instructor. Very friendly, and very easy to follow. Had no problems making a decent grade.
Great professor. She uses examples to teach concepts, so if that is how you learn definitely try to get her.
Lectures were well thought out and presented in a fashion that made learning the material easy. The "clicker quizzes" are easy if you do your homework. Good professor.
great teacher ! hard to understand at first due to the accent. Yet that was not a problem at all. Reall helpful and excited and sometimes funny ! do the H.W qnd you will find her exams quite the same. if you have to recommendation take her class
I thought she was amazing. Her English is very good, although she has an accent you shouldn't have any trouble at all. The tests are just like you would expect. She lets you know how things will work, and which things you really need to study.
She teaches very well. I thought she had a great sense of humor and made learning the material enjoyable!
She's a really good calc 2 professor. She is also quite funny at times and LOUD.
She is incredibly unclear when she's teaching and she doesn't use Blackboard. Get ready to teach yourself because going to class makes no sense. The nice thing is that old tests are posted online and the format doesn't change very much between semesters.
She's great. Really funny and nice. Sometimes her accent makes things unclear but you get used to it and the slight language differences can be funny. This class isn't easy but if you study well, you got this.
Great lady! As long as you pay attention in class and don't text, you will understand most of the differential equations subject material.
She is passionate and funny! I really enjoyed her class. Pay attention to her lectures, the homework is 30x harder than the tests, so study the previous years' exams. She does get loud when lecturing, but don't be afraid! She's just passionate about her subject. She is a really great person with some really cute shoes. 10/10
Akin is a funny lady with a thick, yet comprehensible accent. Her lectures are very clear, and she genuinely cares if you understand the material. The only problem I had was that she makes a lot of mistakes when doing examples, and when I asked how to study for the tests, she just told me to study harder...
Thick but totally understandable accent, great personality, and very good grasp on the material. She picks problems that will illustrate the concept being taught and works them out in class just like we would be on the homework so it makes doing the homework and studying for the test very easy. Super easy to ask questions. 10/10 would take again.
Dr. Akin is a super nice professor that really wants you to succeed. She is very personable and wants to get to know her students. Her lectures are very engaging and she does lots of examples to help prepare for exams.
Dr. Akin genuinely cares about how her students are doing and even in a giant lecture hall makes it known. She always has a smile on her face and really enjoys what she is doing, she also doesn't talk down to students like some professors do. I was so upset when the class got pushed online (COVID) because then I had to start watching other lectures
Just like the rest of the calc courses at S&T, paying attention and attending lecture matters. The homework and tests will be the same as the rest of the prof. You can tell she really loves what she is doing and it makes the class so enjoyable. Her examples were amazing and prepared you really well for the tests.
Hands down the best math teacher at this school. Her desire for students to do well is clear and she is always giving us tips and tells us things to remember for the exams. She comes to class prepared and all of her examples are relevant and explained clearly. Amazing Teacher!
I absolutely loved having Dr. Akin in class. She was an amazing lecturer. She gave examples that were relevant not only to what we were learning but similar to what would be on the exams. You can tell she cares about her students and wants all of us to succeed. She is so funny which makes the classes so much easier to sit through. Would take again!
Her English is quite easy to understand and oddly funny. She clearly cares about the subject and informs students well on what to expect on the tests. She is fair and pretty fun. Sure, it is Diffeq, but she made it pretty reasonable.
Get ready to watch 3 hours of YouTube videos to get you through each lesson. Her lectures are completely useless and her notes are all over the place making it almost impossible to follow.
She is my favorite professor I have had at this university so far. She makes class enjoyable and I enjoy going.
Never miss a class. If you want to pass Calc II she gave more examples and of different types of problems than the other professors. She is very good at explaining things when the class does not understand, and often communicates with the class throughout the lecture which helps with focus on difficult concepts
If you skip lectures you will fail. This is a given. Even during lectures she's not fluent in English, and can be hard to understand between all the "um"s and "uh"s. You will learn Calc II here, whether or not you want to. The homework assignments are also rough. Lectures have easy problems, homework has hard problems, and tests are middle ground.
The content of the course isn't particularly challenging but success in the course happens despite the instructor not thanks to the instructor. Her lectures can be hard to follow and she doesn't do as many examples as other calc 2 instructors. If you ask her questions, don't be surprised if she acts condescending towards you.
I really enjoyed taking calc 2 with Akin. I think some people get scared of her accent, but I personally have had no issues with it. If you show up regularly, she will like you and be more willing to help you. She pulls questions directly from old exams, and takes a lot of time to review before the tests. She wants us to succeed!
Good teacher all around. Prepares us well for the exams by working through a lot of old exam questions and repeating expectations a lot. Beware sitting in the front rows though, she can be really loud.
Lectures aren't bad. A good amount of students just go for the attendance points and need to reinforce the material learned by watching videos on how to do the problems. She can't answer all the questions about exams but goes over past exam questions in class. Homework is about 1-2hs per lecture but YMMV.
Prepare to work hard in this class - attendance is a must, and the homework can be tough. But with the right approach, like using resources like unstuck AI for study prep, you can succeed. The lectures aren't always the easiest to follow, but the material is learnable.
Showing up to class and studying materials outside of the classroom is key to keeping an A in this class. She will do practice problems to prepare you for tests, but you will have to review her notes to adequately prepare. Calc 2 is a difficult class, but she will work though test-like questions during lectures to prepare you for the tests.
Can be hard to understand, especially at the beginning. She jumps around a lot and often leaves the class completely confused. However, she is very clear what will be on exams and does great exam prep.
Actually the worst professor I've ever had. Was an A student in high school and I probably won't pass her class. I can't understand her at all. She rushes through material. I stopped going to her lectures and it didn't change my grade. Have taught myself through YouTube videos and view an example on homework. Good luck.
