This man will rip you apart, but in the end you will appreciate every word he has said to you. Listen to his advice, through the harsh criticism and all. Be tough, that's what the world is like. Love his abilities and also never assume things. He hates that.

The best teacher ever, super tough. His class is like design boot-camp and he really gives himself to the students. You just have to talk in class and he'll leave you be. I admire his passion and dedication.

Many people dropped out of the class because they thought he was WAY too much, those people are quitters. He makes things challenging even though its hard as hell. You learn a great deal from him, if you like to slack off or have a problem being criticize, or just think you are right in everything and don't like taking advice, don't take him.

Hard as hell but you learn alot, people who hates him, gave him bad rating and dropped out, these guys are slackers, quitters, and among other things. He will criticize you, break you down, make you cry, snore and then break you down some more, but throughout all that he will guide you, kick you down, pick you up and make you into a great designer.

IS easy to hate him the first few weeks, he is condesending, arrogant and mean, but if you endure the first classes, you will find a great educator. He has his own style of teaching, very tough but definetly unforgetable. Great Teacher.

He will make you do things over and over again until it's perfect. He doesn't care about the finished product but the process that you go through in getting there. Some may dislike him because he has a different way of teaching, but he knows design and encourages his students to explore different ways of doing things, of creating things...

Eli Kince is one of the best teachers I've had in my life. People need their ego strokes and like someone to pat them on their head and tell them how great they are. He has lessons that you can judge or you can try to listen. To this day his words ring in my ear and have been so helpful. I admire this man and his teaching.

Eli is an amazing teacher of design and life. He will make you a better designer and a stronger person. He is harsh, abrasive, and short tempered...but usually right.

Great professor but you have to be open to criticism, he will give you his professional opinion but not in a very orthodox style :) I remember him throwing and ripping student's assignments because they didn't follow the direction or simply because they didn't put in the time/effort into their work. Might be a bit extreme for some but not for me.

I've learned what I should learn in ten years from Professor, Kince. When any of us really care to do well in our work, he comes to us and bring the best out of us. He is fair and pour out all the knowledge that he could possibly give that he gained for life. I'm thankful that I was given a chance to be part of his class.

If you are a whiny baby needing to be coddled at all times, he is not the professor for you. GD111 is (mostly) a workshop/studio class.. not a lecture, and he was very effective for me. I'm not going to lie, FIT isn't my favorite place in the world. The teachers are unpredictable, but that being said this man changed my perspective on not on the school but also my perspective on life. He's extremely motivational and inspiring, but only if you can handle his personality. He is aggressive, hilarious and may be my fav teacher ever.

Eli is probably the one of the more inspiring teachers I ever had. Perhaps his words can be harsh but i'd rather have honesty and a real critique. He knows what works and what doesn't. What can I say about Eli Knice? A funny guy, knows typography and is a decent and fair professor. He tells it like it is. Honestly I liked the class. He is constantly cracking jokes during lectures and has the entire class laughing from start to finish. Got to see the infamous rip up of another student's work. That was classic. Super surreal.

Kince has the expertise of graphic design unlike any professor you will have at F.I.T. You will NOT like him upon blush, however he provides the reality of design professionalism. I never had a professor that I really learnt so much from beside Eli Kince. In the beginning hes someone who you would be nervous about but I wasnt afraid to speak my mind in that class. I had Kince for 2 different classes & I will admit hes tough but its for your benefit. If youre a hardworking student who pays attention to what hes saying, youll be fine. If you mess up, just talk to him about it, hell understand especially if its not consistent. He teaches you about design & typography in a way that you never seen before.

Drawing type by hand may seem pointless but it's actually the best method for understanding the intricacies of individual letterforms as well as typography as a whole. Professor Kince is easily one of the best teachers I've had. He truly cares about every single one of his students and wants to see them grow. He puts emphasis on the quality of work and encourages you to be the best artist you can be. The feedback he gave me during this class will stick with me for a long time. You won't regret taking his class.

Art or Philosophy class? Professor Kince combines both to promote greatness. Through the computer screen, he brings charisma and his teachings are inspiring. On the real tho, I was lucky for this opportunity to learn from Kince.

Professor Kince is the only professor I had this semester who made online school feel like in person classes. His energy was always top notch and you could tell he cares about the success of his students. I know I have personally grown a lot in his class and although he was a bit intimidating in the beginning, I'm so glad I stuck with it!

He can give a lot of harsh critiques but that's only because he wants to see you grow and reach your potential. He really made this class feel the same as it would if it were in person and kept a really positive vibe.

Professor Kince was a very inspiring teacher. His class opened me up as an artist and helped me look at things from a new perspective. Kince really emphasizes growing as a class and learning to challenge yourself. I have had a great experience in his class, and am happy to have had the opportunity to be a part of it.

hes a really great prof! He changes your perspective as a designer and even gives good life advice. I looked forward to going to class even if I didnt get my work done. Which says a lot. He encouraged you to do better and is really understanding of everyones growth and pace.

Professor Kince is an extraordinary human being. His goal is to better every single student in his class. He is extremely patient, thorough and understanding. Professor Kince will motivate anyone to be the very best version of themselves, all he asks in return is effort. I would go out of my way to have him as a Professor again.

kince's classes were probably the highlight of my week despite having them through the computer. the first couple days of class made me fear the worst, but after a whole semester it was so worth it. he has a way of making you want to put forth your best effort because doing so is worth it for him

Eli Kince goes into pure fundamentals and concepts in design. He is great in critiques and will push you to do better work. You will definitely grow in this class guaranteed. You just have to do the work and show effort. He is very supportive, even in his own struggles, he will help to make you succeed. I'll take him again for Type 2. Stay cool Eli

I feel so lucky to have been in Professor Kince's class. He can be tough, but in the best way possible. Once you get to know him, you see how sweet he is at heart, and how much he wants every student to succeed. He truly cares, and he will push you to do your best work and will make sure you have good critiques in order to improve.

Professor Kince was fantastic. Ill admit at the beginning I was skeptical about this class but Im so glad I took him. Hell challenge you to be a different designer than you are when you start. Youll be repeating things and thats okay. Taking everything Eli says is going to benefit you for a long time. Challenging you means he believes in you.

I had Prof Kince for the fall semester and I really enjoyed his class. His projects are straightforward and participation is essential to his class because it helps not only other students work criteria but also your own. He opened my vision to further understanding art and would definitely take him again because he is sincere and helps you.

A little tough but thats only because he wants you to push yourself and be a better designer. I learned lots of things from him. I highly recommend to take his class because you really gonna come out a different person.

Best professor/teacher I have ever had. No doubt. He does not only teach the principles of art and design, but the principles of being an artist and designer. This man will leave you 10x more motivated and passionate then you came, and you'll be a better designer because of it. Every single student in our class improved astronomically.

Professor Kince is an inspiring and knowledgeable professor who really wants his students to become not only great artists but great thinkers as well. He will be tough on you, and he will call you out when you aren't putting in your best work forward, but he does this because he believes in all of his students and wants us to succeed.

Absolutely loved Professor Kince. He doesnt hesitate to tell you how it is but in a helpful way. Dont bother taking the class if you cant handle criticism but its also helpful practice for the industry. He was an inspiration and I would definitely take this class again.

I had the privilege to take Eli twice this year, unfortunately he wasnt able to continue the light the semester. Compared to my new professor and Eli, no one can truly replace him and his teaching style. Definitely take him and you wont regret it.

Unfortunately only had Eli for the beginning of the semester but he was great. He has a very strong character and will mess around with you during class. Unique teaching style, will keep your attention.

Elvin was probably my favorite professor I had this semester. Yes his teaching ways can be a little different and he may come off as harsh, but to me I feel like the way that he teaches really helps you to learn the subject more. He is a very caring teacher that will push you to do your best work and that is a great quality.

He was literally the best professor! He teaches you in a way that itll just stay in your head forever and it helps you in other classes as well! Would definitely take him again!

He is an amazing professor. He not only talked about the course, but also taught us a lot of other valuable skills. He is so good that I am taking him next semester as well. He is caring, inspirational and will help you out whenever you are in need of it.

Professor Kince is an incredible professor- I enjoyed every second of his class. He is very knowledgable about the field, and offers great insight on not only your art, but life as well. He cares for each and every student, and while he can be tough at times, it always comes from genuine love and care. He has a great sense of humor too!

My most inspirational professor I had this past semester. I'm glad I'll have the opportunity to take a class of his again.

Design studio was my favorite course of this semester because of this professor. He is extremely knowledgeable and wants you to succeed. Dont be discouraged if at first you dont understand what hes talking about, by the end youll understand. Be prepared to work hard and it will pay off. Speak up and participate in class and youll go far.

I took Eli for Design studio 1 and I enjoyed his class so much. He is funny and has a different way of teaching than most professors. he's tough and won't hold back on critiques, but also shows how much he really cares about all of his students. He will push you out of your comfort zone but in a good way. Loved the class that I am taking him again!

Eli was one of my favorite professors this semester. I took him for Typography II, and his class was a blast. Wouldn't recommend this class if you cant take a joke, or sensitive to comedic criticism. You kind of have to learn on your own, but he wont help IF YOU DONT ASK! Ask him for help and he will explain it till you get it. Hes great.

Prof. Kince is engaging, inspirational, and truly cares about his students. I find myself referring back to points he made when I am working on a project often. His teaching isn't just about getting from point A to B- he imparts invaluable knowledge that helped me grow as a person and see the world around me as a designer.

Pushed to do your best, handle criticism and to believe in what you create. His methods are not the norm, but darn they do get the juices flowing. His teachings are for the course, career and life. Believe in yourself and others will too. Do your best and put in the work. I learned more from this man and what I learned applied to my future career.

This is the second class I have taken with Eli and I wish I could take one with him every semester. I can't write all I wanna say with these 350 characters, but he truly is the best. No other professor or teacher has motivated me or inspired me like him. I create my best work in his class. Take his class!!!

He's a great professor. Will give you a chance to explore things as you like them. A very easy grader too.

NOT a professor for the faint of heart or sensitive. He WILL tell you your work is bad. He WILL come for you if you say anything wrong. You will prob cry. He knows what he is doing. You'll see the difference between the littlest thing. He will make you paranoid but your work and knowledge will improve so much you won't be the same person/designer.

Professor kince is the best, I took his design studio class and he changed my life. He teaches you valuable instructions and pushes you to be your best. I feel super lucky I got to be his student

I wish I could have Kince in more classes. He can be witty but will meet you at whatever jargon you want to have with him personally. Incredible mentor who wants to make sure that his knowledge in design is not lost but sent to the following generations. He teaches us everything he was taught with the hope that we outdo him, rather than compete.

Take him! He made the class pass by so fast bc everyone is doing their work and interacting with each other. He gives nice long 30min+ breaks and will help you. He's super laidback on taking attendance & lateness but don't abuse his kindness and just be there when you're supposed to. He curses a lot btw, so don't feel hurt by it. Very resourceful!

Eli is really good if you want to learn design, do your best in his class and you will get improve a lottt

Kince is an amazing teacher if you want to really learn and challenge yourself. He speaks vulgarly but don't get scared off because you will learn a lot from him. I would just note that if you don't go by your assigned at birth gender he will misgender you.

I took his foundation course and typography course. I recommend his foundation course- when he starts to apply his lectures to typography it was so easy to get completely lost. Dont expect a boring class, he does get very vulgar and I was uncomfortable at times. Dont be shy either, and he will like you. Its okay to BS if you know what he likes

Prof. Kince is a challenging but brilliant instructor. His teaching style is unorthodox, but if you engage with it, you'll learn a ton. unstuck AI and the free textbook were super helpful for study prep.

Kince is seriously brilliant. He wants his students to learn to work with their hands, a very important skill to have and hold. Engage with his ideas and you will understand and learn a lot. Definitely the most valuable class I have taken at FIT. If you want to change/open your design perspective, take Eli Kince. that is the best advice I can give.

Kince is a design genius, but 2 learn you have care and listen. He WILL insult you, but it is only to help you get better. He loosens up as the semester goes on and he shows that he really does care for his students and wants to see them succeed. All work is by hand. He also starts off every class with a sometimes crazy or sometimes cool lecture.

This class taught me how to see. There was a ton of work but if you build the connection with him, trust his advice, and internalize his long speeches then you will truly grow as both an artist and a person in his class. Don't take his harsh words to heart and he is one of the most knowledgeable teachers at FIT.

He was scary at first, but as time passed he's very chill. It's very clear to see he wants his student to succeed, but he doesn't want us to depend on him. He's a true genius, I'd def rec to take him at least once during your FIT eduction, it's worth it, and change your outlook on design!! Very traditional heavy, everything is hands on, no digital.

You can get an A in this class easily if you show up and do a good job on your work, but Kince has higher hopes for his students. He may seem intimidating at first, but he truly cares. Not super strict about attendance but I recommend coming to every class because the man always has something interesting to say.

when I first had him I was scared to death cause of bad things I heard about him. he isn't terrible but the homework he gives us are VERY time consuming. he is intelligent in what he does and has his good and bad moments. I learned a lot from the homework he gives us but he doesn't participate in critiques. its only the students which I didn't mind

Since this was his last semester before retiring, he def became sm nicer towards the end. The class relies on student critiques, so the people in your class can make it either really good, or really bad. The work def pushes you to be better, and I def learned a lot. I hate to say that I actually learned so much from this class.

This doesn't even matter bc he's leaving but if you get past all the weird stuff and inappropriate comments, he actually is a good teacher. He did sit there on his phone a lot while some judgmental d-riders nitpicked my work but he gets a free pass bc he's done enough teaching. His lectures, though long, actually have depth unlike other profs. goat

Second semester with Kince and his last at FIT…one of my favorite professors and certainly one that I learned the most from. I found his teaching style (which was admittedly very hands-off) actually really helpful especially as a second semester student and felt that the workload was pretty fair and what I expected. Great prof.

Hope this gem is enjoying retirement. Watched you change a lot of young people for the better.
