I thought this class would be a 'snooze', but that was before I met Professor Koppelman-White! -- if she doesn't 'keep one's interest' in philosophy 'form', no one will! Highly recommended and extremely 'provocative' -- Ethics-wise, or did I mean more? Anyway, she's an exceptional professor!!

bring a recorder the day she reviews for tests, go home and play the tape and write what she says word for word, change it up and add a little bit and you will get an A. Tests are take home, or you get to bring in a paper with as much as you want on it. questions to the test given week before exam. really good prof. learned alot, and easy!

Words cannot describe how awesome this professor is. She is the best and really is inspiring through her lectures. I was one that was not excited about the class at first, but ended up loving philo. because of her. DO NOT miss out on the opportunity to take such a wonderful, amazing professor.

Very fair, very good teacher, makes the subject actually interesting. Gives 2 essays throughout the semester(each about 4-5 pages). Gives 2 exams which are about 9 essay questions that only take about 30 minutes to answer. A 3.5 is easily earned if you go to class. If you are aiming for a 4.0 though, good luck, almost impossible.

Yes, 4.0's are possible -- I managed to receive one. But, moreover, you don't get 20-some hotness ratings along with a whole host of competency evaluations without knowing the subject and the audience. Professor Koppelman is worth taking -- and worth everything YOU put into one of her classes.

GREAT professor. Makes elusive concepts clear. Actually TEACHES her class, instead of standing in front of her students and trying to prove to her students that she has a vast vocabulary (like most profs do). Highly recommended.

Took this class online. Everyone that took her in class loved her and said she was soo easy. ONLINE class sucked. She had another teacher take over and she graded weird at first. She was of no help and the quizzes were WAY too hard. I think my money would have been better spent at the Casinos playing the slot machines than paying for this class.

She was nice enough, but her class was supposed to me mainly by the book. On her quizzes she would look explain to you what was on them, yet when she graded would look for little meaning-less points she expected you to randomly pick up from the reading. Was confusing, and not very helpful or understanding. Am really curious why her score is so high

Professor Koppelman White is the best teacher at OU!!! I absolutely LOVED her class. She truly cares about her students, and wil l go out of her way to help. She is very down to Earth and kind. I learned so much about ethics and philosophy! Her class was so interesting. Attendance was not mandatory, but I never missed a day. I HIGHLY recommend!!!

Proffesor Koppelman is an awesome teacher :) I had no interest in ethics and I learned a lot. I really enjoyed coming to her class, she cracked me up. Had great ways of explaining concepts, and always made the class fun. I learned a lot about ethics. I dont see how anyone could dislike her. I highly recommend her!

Also PHL 103. LOVE her- actually TEACHES material rather than having students teach themselves through textbooks. Funny, down-to-earth, adorable, personable, makes you WANT to go to class even though she doesn't take attendance. Gives thorough lectures; if you take notes (do!) be quick, but you can just listen to her and understand the material.

Great teacher. She is understanding, kind, funny, and really cares about her students. She is there to help you succeed. I highly recommend. We covered a lot of material and had about 5 papers to write, but it's not too bad, just keep up. She is flexible with turning in paper later(which is helpful w/a full semester and crazy work schedule). :)

Took this as a Summer course online and she was so understanding about deadlines and schedules, was super helpful and responded to emails quickly. A bit time consuming but definitely a class worth taking, she's great

My favorite professor I've had so far at this school! She is awesome. She is so willing to help and will always work around your schedule if you need it. She's hilarious and explains everything so well and always tries to make you feel good about yourself. She makes you enjoy the class. I wish I could take her for more classes!

TAKE HER FOR LOGIC! She is the nicest professor I've had! She wants you to succeed and helps out in any way she can. Since you have to take a math gen ed, take Elysa. The class is interesting and fulfilling, and she is a great human being.

Very easy for a 300 level class. Grade was based on a midterm and final (both take-home) and research paper. Attendance was not mandatory, although by attending I found I didn't have to read at all because she went over everything in the lecture. Super nice and helpful professor, lectures are interesting if a bit rambly sometimes.

She made the material crystal clear and was very helpful, but the class material was stressful if you don't put the time in to understand it. Much easier to understand if you go to class rather than just reading the book

Absolutely adored this professor! She is enthusiastic and easy to talk to. Class goes quickly and you know exactly what to expect for the tests. I have never excelled at math, and loved her class. Highly recommend her.

The best professor I had at OaklandUniversity. I actually learned things and she helped in every way possible. Go to class and you will learn. I never bought the book, but I would suggest you do.

I took her class online and it was the easiest grade boost I've ever had. Her assignments and lectures are so clear and concise she basically tells you exactly what you need to know. Since it was an online class, she is also extremely flexible with deadlines. Would definitely recommend.

Prof White is great! She's very clear with assignments and tells you exactly what you need to know. She's quick to respond to emails and she makes an overall boring class pretty interesting. I would definitely recommend taking her if you have to take intro to ethics!

The class load is manageable for a summer course and shes flexible with due dates. She responds to emails quickly and is very clear about what needs to be in every assignment. The hw is kinda long but shes a fair grader. Dont turn things in more than 3 days late, she appreciates when you respect her time too. Great class, learned a lot

Took this as an online summer class. A lot of work for a 100 level class and even though she seemed to be a fair grader I feel like she graded based on her opinion. Quick with emails and always willing to help. Not that miserable of a class but I would personally not recommend.

She is such an awesome professor. Very bubbly and personable. She tries to make the class very easy and understandable. Helps you out very much. I enjoyed going to this class everyday! She has power-points for each lecture that you can download off moodle and make your own side notes on. She lays everything out there for you.

Great teacher. She really seems to understand engineering lingo. You can't go off of the slides that are posted, best chance to pass would be to go to class & take notes. all info is given in class. Great teacher, but you need to pay attention & not blow off class because you could miss valuable info. Very helpful teach with great communication

Prof. White's 104 class was very straightforward. Not too difficult, but you did have to put some effort in. She did a good job with elaborating on her slides. The midterm and final are both take home free response questions and the quizes are online, open book. But to score a good grade, you do need to have some sort of idea of what youre saying.

Very little homework. Will work class tests around student's other classes. A few online quizes along with online midterm and final. Her lectures are very interesting, and she helps connect old philosophy ideas in todays society. Great professor!

Ethics is so boring to me, so I had a hard time paying attention. There were only a few assignments we were graded on. The midterm and final being the big points. No textbook used, don't need to come to every class. She is very lenient and cool and tells great stories.

Elysa is a great prof. Her lectures are interesting, and she tells good stories. She does post the lecture powerpoints online, but you have to actually go to class to understand what she writes on them. Book is not required. She is very considerate of student's schedules and makes due dates around them. Only real work is midterm and final essays.

Keeps the topic interesting with lots of videos showing examples of moral choices that Engineers need to make. Watch the videos, take the online quizzes, and spend time writing good papers and you will get an A. She is a very caring teacher and will work with you if you fall behind. Take it seriously, and she will take you seriously.

Took gen ed philosophy for engineers with her. She is very caring. Responds back to emails quickly. Liked the class but the class itself is based on 3 big papers to write. And the reason for the okay rating is because of the grading. It seems like she grades based on opinion but overall gives lots of feedback. So to recap tough grader. Easy class

I took her class online and found it to be very easy. I put minimal effort into this class and received a good grade. If you take her online class you will not have to dedicate much time at all to the class. I would typically get a weeks worth of material done in 1 day. The only real homework are the 3 essays, which are easy to write using her vids

Shes a good professor and is really willing to help outside of class. She has a lot of people in her online classes so sometimes it takes awhile to get feedback on papers, but overall it is super easy and taking the class online is way easier!

Very nice and caring about her students, because of COVID & financial crisis she decided against using the textbook this semester. Her lectures are clear & she was always available via email for help. She also let me turn in an assignment late which was really nice. Try to take this class online, might not be the most exciting but easy A

She is a great professor. Not too much work assigned, just a couple of assignments here and there but gives plenty of time to do them. She is also very sweet - sent her one of my papers and she gave me great feedback on what I can improve on and then ended up scoring very well. Take her!

Professor White was awesome, the class was made up of watching a couple weeks every week or two and three papers including the final. The papers were super easy to navigate with the directions she gave us. She is really lenient with grading and will work with you on due dates!

She was nice and willing to help, only 3 essays for the whole semester, she was a tough grader, there were many videos to watch, and has a short quiz that you can retake as much as you can but it was really easy, get ready to read very long emails from her.

Prof White was one of my favorite professors this semester. You watch a bunch of lecture videos, write 4 reflections out of 6 (if you wrote 5, she agreed to drop your lowest grade). Easy grader in my opinion, gives personalized comments for assignments. Super understanding and lets you turn things in late as long as you communicate with her.

Only four assignments and quiz questions throughout the course. The course was online, but the lectures were great to study and take notes from and she made them very interesting. Class one of the easiest courses in my college career. Definitely recommend.

I have taken so many Philosophy classes at other Universities and at OU, and Elysa has to be one of the best professors ive ever taken a class under. She is caring, understanding, a fantastic teacher, and VERY EXAPLANTORY of what she expects from an assignment. I cant say enough good things.

This course was asynchronous. Such an easy class and really nice if you have a heavy workload. She posted work for a 2 week period and honestly was very doable in about 1-3 days. She's amazing at explaining and the hw she posts helped me understand if something confused me. She's very understanding and I feel like I really understand basic logic

You have 2 weeks to finish lectures with questions but you can redo the questions as many times as you need. Homework did not need to be turned in. A quiz is posted near the end of the 2 weeks but it was a word document that you had to upload. This class made no sense to me but I did the work and still got an A. Prof helps w any questions you have.

Professor White was great! There are video lectures with 2-5 questions embedded in them and you can redo as many times as you need. She gives you 2 weeks to do all the videos and the homework (answers provided) is optional. There is a quiz after each subject, 5 quizzes total and a final exam. Not too difficult and she is there to help you.

Very fair and lenient class. Professor White was very caring, but I felt like she used some very extreme and offensive examples as a topic of discussion, while is not to the detriment of her character, but I felt was very inappropriate. The students in her class were more dry than a painting which was a shame because she was always so energetic.

Very nice and caring. She was able to accommodate for me when i had an unforeseen situation. She has ADHD, based off how she can only focus on one thing only and she speaks a lot, but i don't find it to be a deterrent. We can go to either morning or afternoon class. Great Professor overall.

This professor is vary caring and nice!She has somewhat boring lectures depending on how interactive people are.She can be a bit of a tough grader but not too harsh.There are weekly in class assignments, tests, and individual assignments.Tests are done at home, and the final is a group assignment so choose your partners early semester. Easy A!
