Professor Faltas superlatively helps his students get A's. He gives a ton of extra credit and gives full credit on every assignment except tests (providing you do them correctly, which isn't hard at all). He's a tad confusing in lectures, for he frequently goes on long, unrelatedalbeit entertainingtangents. If you read the book, tests are fine.
He is a good professor. He gives extra credit, emails you a study guide, shows you ahead of time the essay prompt that will be on the test. Recommend taking him. Read the textbook most of what is in the exam is from the textbook. If you read the textbook do the extra credit and the assignments you will definitely pass the class.
Professor Faltas is a great professor; he cares about the students a lot and always there to help us out. He emails the study guides ahead of the tests. he gives a lot of extra credit assignments to boost your grade if you bombed one of the tests. I highly recommend him.
It was a blessing having Mr. Faltas as a professor last semester. If you do all the readings and skim the study guides he emails before the test, you won't have a problem getting an A. Very knowledgable and intellectual so any part of the lecture you find interesting, he could give you another 5 minutes of specifics easy. Great teacher.
Fair, firm, and flexible .the extra credit is actually fun :) gives great feedback and is honest .
He is the best Hist. professor that I have had. The class is very interesting because he is from Egypt and he has a wide knowledge about the Western Civilization. The class is fun and he is a passionate speaker. Definitely it is not a boring class. Read the chapters, if you do all the extra credit assignments and attendance you will get A.
Hands down the best class I've taken at this school. Great teacher.
Great history teacher. Very objective and not only encourages you to participate in the class but makes you want to. He is very strict about turning in your work on time but very understanding if circumstances arise. He is a bit difficult to understand at times but anyone with half a brain can get past that. I highly recommend this professor.
This is my second class with professor Faltas, he is amazing teacher, he made me love history and make it as my major, very inspiring professor, he is always there for you. 4 tests, drop the lowest, attendance is very important because if you miss the a lecture you will miss a lot of information,a lot of interesting extra credits, I recommend him.
I recommend Professor Faltas, he is very passionate about the subject, makes you engage with the topic, have good sense of humor even the lectures were too long, 3 hours but you don't get bored. He help you study by having all his lecture notes on Moodle, 4 exams drop one, 7 assignments and many extra credits. I will take him again in 2B & 2C.
Took history 2B with professor Faltas and gotta say, he is just the best history teacher on campus. He is really passionate about history and cares for the students. The class is easy if u pay attention in class and in case you mess up on any of the tests; he provides a lot of EC to help make up for it. He is a fair teacher and the class is easy A
Awesome professor, made me love history, care about students, 4 exams drop one, attendance very important, if you miss a class you lost a lot of information. I enjoyed his way of teaching and using a lot of media very interesting, even the extra credit he assigns are very interesting, if you do all of them plus assignments you can get an easy A.
Prof. Faltas is an actual Egyptologist and is a wealth of information on the subject. Expect the usual challenges of having a non-native English speaking professor. Teaches with slides that have lots of information so you must learn to take good notes (accessible on LMS). Exams are very straightforward. He is very generous with extra credit.
Very interesting class, I didn't expect to study about ancient Egypt, specially from an Egyptology, that was so COOL! it is something we never have the chance to know about, he is every helpful, very inspiring, study his notes you will get an A. No assignments, a lot extra credit!!
He's a nice professor really clear and easy going but if u want to take a summer course or winning record please don't I had to withdraw from my summer class because he was going really fast. He puts u in groups and makes the group teach the class and expects u to get everything on the test. not summer but regular semester good! :D
Love him as a teacher. This is my second class I've taken with him. He really knows what he is talking about and has great personal life stories that go along with his lectures. Its good to have someone who has had first hand experience in the field and someone who is so passionate about what he teaches ! Best college professor!!
I like his class, he is passionate and makes you love history! shares a lot of his unique experiences of traveling around the world and his background, He gives a lot of extra Credites, expect a lot of reading, weekly homework, two exams, he gives a lot of resources to successed. I will take him again!
This guy is super cool. In the summer session, we had a quiz every class, and our final was just a group project (kinda sucks) and extra credit is offered. I took his world history class as a freshman in high school (dual enrollment) and still did pretty good. He was also born in Egypt and has traveled the world, lots of awesome stories! Love him!
Faltas was easy to contact but beware if turning in things via email they tend to get lost. He was unorganized this semester confusing me with another student. Other then that he was great and his study guides helped a lot. Keep them all semester!
Rather than a history class this was a travelogue. I am so glad he has gotten to travel the world but I signed up for history not travel stories. He may give away easy grades without having you do much work but he doesnt give you any knowledge of the subject area.
I liked his class. He links history of the past with of today. He made history an enjoyable subject to me. Two essays and three M/C test. He is very supportive, provides a lot of resources to help students to succeed. Gives extra credits. Get ready to read, if you do your part as student you can get very good grade. I recommend him.
At the beginning I thought it would be very hard and boring but I was wrong! It is COOL class! I learnt a lot about the Middle East Cultures even learning Arabic for extra credit, It is really fun class, no homework, only 2 exams, in class activities, professore Faltas is very helpful and always available, I recommend it.
He is a good professor. His lectures are sometimes a bit wordy but nothing too bad. I only wished we would've done something different from just lectures all semester, but other than that, not bad.
I liked his class, teaches about the Middle East, I was interested in the topic. His is a native of the area, very informative and teaches some Arabic language for extra credit, he is very helpful and tries to provide all resources for passing the class, only two exams no homework, extra credits, take notes and attend the class you will pass easily.
Professor Faltas is amazing, passionate about the subject, he made the class fun & welcoming. This class was an eye opening for me; I have learned a lot of things about the world today especially the Middle East & West. It is an easy class, he is very supportive, gives a lot of extra credits so you can make up missing points. Take his class!
He sticks by his rules. I bought the book didn't even touch it. Everything on the test will rely on the power points and even the essays. ATTENDANCE IS CRUCIAL. If you miss constantly you will NOT pass. POWER POINTS aren't accessible out of class. half your grade is on attendance. Just show up take notes study you'll be fine.
He is one of the best teachers I had at LBCC. He cares about the students, gives many online quizzes, two papers and two in-class exams. he gives a lot of points for Participation. Attendance is crucial. I always thought history is a boring subject but I enjoyed his lectures. I recommend him.
Professor Faltas is a great professor. His lectures are a bit lengthy but never boring. He knows his facts and is not afraid to challenge students thoughts. There is a bit of homework but easy to do and is submitted online. Professor Faltas is a great man and I would definitely take another one of his classes!
Difficulty understanding how lectures realted to subject matter. Class was more of an autobiography of the instructor rather than covering tet book material. Did not feel material for course description was covered.
This is my second class with professor Faltas. Caring and supportive. I enjoyed his lectures they are never boring. Online quiz 20 M/C every week. Two essay papers with a detailed description and clear rubric. midterm and final are very simple. He helps his students to catch up with missing grades by giving many extra credits. I recommend him!
He is truly amazing, I have learned so much. He has unique teaching style, he links the past with the present and you. a lot of discussions, he makes you part of the story and the conversation! I loved going to his class, never missed one! It is easy A if you have the keys, Attendance and note taking, a lot of extra credits and participation points
I few words, he is a COOL Guy, very different, I wish he teaches this winter class. Take his class, you will never regret!
I took two of his classes, Professor Faltas is one of the best instructors at LBCC. Passionate and knows his subject materials. He cares about his students' success. Write his notes, don't miss class, he gives hints for exams questions during lectures, he always says: study smart don't study hard you will get an easy A. You will enjoy his class.
I didnt learn anything remotely related to the SLO's, I attended all classes, learned so much about modern day egypt instead of what was on the syllabus. Loads of homework. Reads from endless slides.
I really liked his lectures. I learned history from a different perspective. It was a very opening eye for me. This class will teach you how the modern world is working. The class was very interesting, I loved the discussions and the debates. This instructor is different. don't hesitate, he is the best!
Before the semester ends I just want to share this, He is an excellent teacher, he cares and motivates his students. His ways of teaching history made me love it. I learned a lot about the Greeks and the Romans history and cultures. Weekly M/C online quiz, drop the lowest. Two papers, midterm and final. It is COOL class!
I loved hearing stories about his culture. Offers lots of in class extra credit. He often calls on people who don't raise their hands (I was one of them lol). If he doesn't agree with you, he's not afraid to tell you! He's still very caring and obviously loves what he does. Exams are fairly easy, but you have to take good lecture notes!
This guy is awesome! first time I find history is not a boring subject. He makes it interesting with a lot of sense of humor. I learned a lot in this class about the ancient world. He assigns a weekly online quiz built on his lecture notes, and textbook (enough to study his notes!) plus two papers were given 2 weeks before due date, no exams.
I liked this class. Prof Faltas a nice person, he is passionate about what he does. I learned a lot; he cares and motivates his students. I love his stories it makes the class more enjoyable. I love the Greek and Roman cultures, and he is great in that. Weekly online quizzes & 2 take-home papers. Attendance is important.
I am writing this to say how much I respect and appreciate Professor Faltas. I was struggling with my life and in my classes, I was failing not only in his class but in all. He gave me the encouragement, support and the opportunity to succeed, and I did it. He was always there for me even after his office hours. He is an awesome person and teacher.
Professors understanding of Middle East in this class will give background information about current international affairs that American public education completely omits. Faltas clearly outlines quizzes and essays so it is easy to get a good grade. Offers multiple extra credit opportunity. Also, very accessible through email and office hours.
He is one of my best teachers! He's funny, he's very smart, he's understanding, and his lectures are interesting. Everything on the test are on his powerpoints so if you study you will pass. He always offers extra credit. He is an awesome person and teacher!
He's the best. I love his accent. Really introspective individual. He's seen so much and is always easy to talk to. He literally gives away tons of extra credit. I didn't really need it, but did enough to gain like 50 pts. I def recommend him even if you suck at history. He will keep you awake and you leave the class with a big grin.
I never liked history. A friend recommended professor Faltas, I didnt regret. He is awesome, his way of teaching is different, he made me interested in his subject. He cares & motivates students. All the quizzes from his PowerPoint. I loved the movies he showed in class, it made the subject easier & interesting. Its easy class, attendance matters.
Great teacher, I love Greek and Roman cultures, he knows his subject very well, informative and passionate about what he's doing. I liked his teaching style & his accent is unique, maybe because where he comes from? Very helpful whenever you need him. Take notes, 2 papers, two free absences then a penalty for missing class, a lot of Extra Credits.
One of the BEST professors I have ever had thus far in my college career. Professor Faltas is so passionate in his teachings and has so much experience. I strongly recommend him for a class you might possibly take.
This is the type of professor that you want when it comes to history. Clear power points, engaging lectures, and quite a few chances to earn extra credit. He has a sense of humor and is friendly. He has been to so many places, and his stories are interesting and relevant.
Emad Faltas is a great professor, gives homework once a week on canvas but is assigned a week before the class. Incredibly nice and caring teacher, you have to try hard to not pass his class.
Great teacher, he made a boring topic very interesting, I learned a lot, he made history more about you, he mixes the past with the present in a dazzling way, his stories, discussions, and background made the class more enjoyable. Easy and fun class, I recommend him.
Hes so funny & caring! If you care about your grade, he will care as well. Definitely show up to class.
I do not need any more history classes but am itching to take another just for another semester with this guy. He is one of the most enthusiastic and awesome professors i have had in years and makes the course very easy. If available i highly suggest him!!
It is one of my favorites, I always loved to learn about the pharaohs, Faltas is an expert Egyptologist, he made the course enjoyable, even going on zoom he did an awesome job to keep us engaged. 4 online quizzes,10 homework readings, many extra credits. I love the stories he shares about his experience of archaeology; it is a fun and easy course.
I would take his class even if he was teaching the history of soap!! He is so fun and interesting that even though I'm not all that into history, I've taken two classes with him. Hes hilarious and inspiring, and I totally recommend him!
You've got to be kidding me. Faltas was fantastic, smart, relaxed, and great sense of humor. only 4 quizzes and 10 readings assignments and that's it! It was cool to see a native Egyptian teaching Egyptology and archeology, he is so driven and knows his materials very well. He made me love history and archeology. He is not to be missed.
Great and kind teacher, easy to follow. He gives you all the information you need to know. Attendance is very important. Be smart, he gives the quizzes questions during his lectures, if you attend and take good notes, you can get an easy A. He changed my opinion on the Middle East culture. I liked his teaching style. I recommend him.
Professor Faltas has super interesting lectures!! He has so many stories to tell! He is very passionate about what he teaches which makes him better at teaching it. It is enjoyable and memorable for students learning. Very easy and fun class don't miss it.
Overall a great professor! He was caring and made to sure assist you if you needed help. Since everything is online, he offers a lot of extra credit opportunities and quizzes are based from lectures. Only 2 papers and no final.
Online class was not the best. Questions in the quiz were not always covered in the lectures or in the textbook. Lectures were not always clear. Class is easy to pass but you're pretty much teaching yourself.
I am writing to encourage you to take any of this professor. He has a very special charisma that made me and for the first time like history and humanities. This is my second class with him and will take another one with him next semester. He is much fun and easy class, two papers and a weekly quiz. You shouldn't miss any of his classes.
Amazing class & awesome professor. It is my best class I ever had in my life so far. 10 reading assignments, 4 quizzes, a lots of videos, and a lots of fun.
This is the professor that you need to take! He is a good dude, who knows his stuff, and cracks a few jokes that will have you laughing through the screen. Easy class as long as you write your notes and essays are simple just do your research and pay attention. Would take him 1000 times if i was majoring in history.
He makes you feel inferior if you dont know as much as him. The homework has nothing to do with the quizzes and the quizzes have nothing to do with the lectures. Not easy to talk to and impatient as well.
He is my favorite Professor at LBCC. I love Egyptology and he is an expert. The class is so much fun, 4 quizzes a lot of videos, very interesting. I loved the way he links other civilizations to ancient Egypt. Very informative and kind person.
I took all his classes. This guy is awesome!
Hands down the best professor. He made history very interesting. He is passionate about his lectures and making sure we are engaged and understand the content. No Exams, online quizzes, and two essays. All you have to do is show up to class, participate in class, and be specific on the essays. A lot of fun as well, the best class I ever had.
Mr Faltas is possibly the best professor you can get for HUMAN1 because he is teaching straight from his heart and his own personal experience living in Egypt. His lectures are engaging and his quizzes aren't too hard.
For international or immigrant student (like me), he will make you feel really warm and related through his personal stories. Very knowlegable about the world history and humanities. No final and midterm tests, but 4 quizes. In every class, he goes around and makes sure every student feel included. So, highly recommended.
This guy does not know how to grade and neither does his co-teacher. Both are incompetent and useless. Take a different subject, don't study history or humanities. STEM IS KING!!!!
This class is an easy A if you turn everything in on time. Weekly quizzes based on the lectures, paper for midterm and final and lots of extra credit given.
This class was probably one of the easiest classes I ever took, the whole course consisted of reading a couple of pages out of an online textbook and then answering a discussion post based on those pages a week, followed by a weekly quiz based on his lecture slides. Aside from one topic report due at the end of the semester, that's it.
He is truly remarkable, his unique teaching and motivational style greatly impact my learning experience. The class topic was an eye opening. His humor helped making classroom very friendly, care about his students and made everyone feel included. Only 6 quizzes & a lot of extra credits. However he is strict on Attendence. I recommend this class.
Awesome class, very interesting and easy. 8 reading assignments, 4 quizzes and learn hieroglyphics, many documentary assignments. So much fun. Was very good to balance with hard classes.
Definitely an easier professor then most. One weekly assignment followed by a quiz and usually extra credit. At the end there is an essay paper. Fairly easy grader just make sure to participate for points.
crazy interesting lectures, you will learn so much - if youre a fan of history that man has so much knowledge in his brain
Use the slides and watch the videos and you can easily score 90-100% on the quizzes. Coursework Includes. 1 Syllabus Quiz 8 Discussion Post + at least 1 comment on a classmates post, from the Source Reader. 8 Quizzes 1 4-5 Page Paper 6 Different Extra Credit Opportunities that ranged from watching an hour long video to trying Greek food.
Second class with Professor Faltas. 12 Discussions, 12 Quizzes, 1 Syllabus quiz, 1 4-5 page paper, 6 extra credit opportunities. You will have to put in the work to get that A. Read the slides, watch the videos, participate in the discussions. Lots of primary sources are used for the discussion posts. Spent about 4-5 hours weekly on this class.
Summer class. 8 quizzes, 8 discussions, 4 extra credit, and a syllabus quiz. The workload is less than a regular semester. You have little time for quizzes but you can find some on quizlet, if not, use the PowerPoint. Use a word search finder for it. If you need this class, take it over the summer or winter for an easy A ^_^
Great Professor! His lectures are very long doesn't give very many assignments besides quizzes & final paper. Quizzes are done at home & are open book. The quizzes are all based on what he lectured in class, so pay attention, study, & take good notes. Participation is very important, but he is understanding if you're shy. Gives lots of extra credit
faltas is a great professor! he is very caring and passionate about his work and students. the class was very easy! you really only have to do 6-7 quizzes, final paper, and extra credit assignments if you want to do them! try your best to take notes and ask questions since he grade participation. would definitely take him again! c:
Loved his World History class. I took it asynchronous and the reading/lecture was light and interesting. We read primary source documents for every chapter and watched some cool documentaries. I wish I could retake him!
I'm still in his class but I greatly like Professor Faltas. He is straight to the point. He doesn't mind explaining unclear things though. He gives multiple opportunities to make up missing assignments and is very friendly with extra credit. He is willing to work with you, he is willing to make time for you, etc.
Took his 6-week course and it was great. Weekly lecture, quiz, and discussion. Must buy/ rent the textbook to complete the discussion but this class was a breeze. Def recommend. For the final, he does assign about a 4-5 page paper.
Very insightful class. 8 quizzes and 8 reading discussions. Attendance is mandatory. He is very nice dude, caring and inspirational. I like his teaching style. I recommend him.
I took this professor last semester, he literally changed my life. His teaching style is one of kind. Very easy class, 6 quizzes and 12 reading assignments. I recommend his classes.
Professor Faltas was a balanced and reasonable educator. He seems to be passionate about what is being taught and does care whether you're grasping the concept without the semester seeming unnecessarily triggering. His expectations are clear, the syllabus is comprehensive, and the assignments and quizzes directly reflect the curriculum.
Good teacher gets side tracked sometimes attendance is required even if you do all the work and test missing class will bring your grade down an entire letter grade he give plenty of extra credit
Great teacher attendance is mandatory give plenty of extra credit for you to get an A in his class
Good professor! He gives lots of extra credit assignments and gives feedback on essays. I enjoyed the time I had while learning with him!
This guy is not only a teacher but a philosopher. I recommend him.
he is a good teacher gives extra credit and he gives good amount of time for quizzes
We had 1 quiz and 1 assignment of each chapter each week and then the final which was super easy. It's an easy class that gets you an A if you put some effort. He also communicates back if you have any issues. He also gives a lot of extra credit, I ended getting an overall grade over the actual limit which was funny. I recommend taking his class!
While attendance is mandatory you are given 9 absences before you are failed from the class, no matter your grade. I missed several days due to my father having a stroke, and absences weren't excused now putting me down a letter grade. Don't have a family emergency i guess, it'll mess up your grade.
Professor Faltas is a great choice if you enjoy lectures that combine elements of overlooked general knowledge, philosophy, comedy and personal stories. He is easily one of the most entertaining teachers that I have ever had. Dr. Faltas is as easy going of a grader as he is of a person—he gives lots of extra credit, and cares about his students.
I already have a bachelor's degree, but I decided to take this class because of the great things I'd heard about this professor. I have to say I'm really impressed. His teaching style and the way he explains concepts are outstanding. Honestly, he could be teaching at the graduate level. He's amazing, and I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Faltas was incredibly funny but also very rambley. He would spend half the class time talking about someone thing completely unrelated to the lecture. He is very passionate about his subject and teaching nonetheless.
Did his 8week Honors. It was easy going. He assigns reading outlines DO every week and they are time consuming, however easy and clear what to answer on his questions. Attendance IS mandatory or you'll be dropped. HES GENEROUS grader! I personally enjoyed his class, and am not the best writer, but passed on the last BIG essay worth 300 points.
I took his class over 8 weeks in the fall and I really enjoyed spending my time learning about it! He took the time to add comments onto assignments and letting me know what to do to help me earn a better and higher grade. Really enjoyed it and he is an amazing professor!
There aren't enough words to express my disdain for this professor and his teaching style. He plays a lot of games. Good luck.
