OOOOOOOOOPPSSSS.....HAVE NO WORDS FOR HIM. HE CAN PUT YOU ON TOP AND HE CAN SCREW YOU LIKE HELL. IT ALL DEPENDS ON HIS MOOD
He is generally a nice guy, but he kids around too much. Won't really help you while looking at slides, but the TA's will. Makes you write notes for an hour and a half, but thats exactly what he gives you on the test. Draw your slides, memorize them before the test, know your notes, and pray that Jesus helps you. by God's Grace you'll be fine.
if i waz u i wouldnt take him ....the lab test are crazy and he doesnt even help all he does is jokke around all dayyyyyyy ...!
wateve u doo ...do NOT take this class ...he is horrible ..jokes around all day with out ...teaching ...bad professoorrrr.!
I don't think you have a choice, but to take this Professor - there is only one for histology lab ... rather take something else then histology! He jokes around A LOT, you never know when he's serious! He has no respect for students - he has one favorite student, but the rest of us - no value, laughing to our faces how "stupid' we are ... the test
don't take this prof. !!!!!! all he does is joke around all day..he makes the exams extremely difficult and every once in a while he willl remind you of the BAD grade you got in front of the entire class..he flirts around with the girls in the class...he is very disrespectful and shouldn't be anywhere near a classroom especially when it's a colleg
This guy is tuff, very funny, and keeps things interesting. His exams are hard, but study study study. who cares about grades though, YOU WILL LEARN A LOT. TAKE HIM!
Whatever everyone is saying is right...Don't take this guy. Although, got an A in his class...will not recommend him. sucha waste of time and money. Guys he has no respect for students...
This guy has his moments sometimes he can be funny and sometimes just annoying. It is really hard to tell when he is joking or not and he plays favorites a lot. If you wanna do well in his class, get on his good side and memorize your notes. I got an A but i had to work for it.
You learn a lot from his class and at the same time keeps the class interesting. One of the BEST SJU bio teachers. Gives a thorough review before each test so as long as u study that youll be fine.
Well lets see, he's not half bad. Very good at teaching, and does dwell further than the scope of the class occasionally. His tests require a bit of thinking, not too many straight forward questions. Best way to get an A, read the text + notes, text prior to class if possible. You can be one of his favs if you answer a few questions now and then.
I had this guy a few semesters ago for histology and I thought he was a jerk, even though I got an A. I'm in Med school now and Histo makes so much sense because I had it with him. For all you future med students, his class will prep you the most. Don't fear him, understand the stuff and you'll breeze through it in med school. Good luck y'all.
if ur stuck with him, dont freak. u can still get a good grade if u study HARD. i had an 82 avg, and winded up with a B+, so he curves quite a bit. go to every class bc he might call out names. study notes inside out and stuff pertaining to notes in txtbk and pay att! a + is that class passes by fast and he jokes. but taking notes can b a pain.
NOT AN EASY CLASS! but he is very fair and you will learn A LOT. You must study daily for this class because there is sooo much material to learn in such a short time. Your effort will be in direct proportion to your grade. Challenging but not impossible
Study and review notes daily if you want that A. You'll be taking lots and lots of notes during lecture and lab(type them). Slacking off will bite you in the butt. Be prepared to stay for the full lab time. Keep up with your lab notebook as well. Bring him cheesecake and offer to get him some coffee if he's having a bad day. He was a fun professor!
Prof. Pepitone is a funny guy and he's pretty cool, but his tests are HARD! I don't know why he makes them so hard! He's VERY smart, but he just dictates notes in class which makes you write A LOT! The class is a pain in the butt. Literally. He's the only Histology prof. so you have to deal with him. Just study like heck. LOTS of memorization!
This class requires a lot of studying and dedication. Dr. Pepitone dictates a lot of notes so make sure your ready to type/write on and on in a single class. The lab is the full four hours because he lectures for the first 2 hours. His exams tend to be iffy at times. He tries his best to help out the class in whichever way he can.
Not sure why people write such nasty comments... he really isnt bad. You have to take notes and really study, I also highly recommend studying from the book as well. Hes a friendly professor (but likes to embarrass people in front of their boyfriends!) Just study hard, and youll do well. You really do learn a lot from him.
Great Guy, corny but very funny, dont get offended by his jokes, study alot!!! from Book and notes. Test seem hard but if u study enough you'll do well, if YOU! dont like to study then DONT take him, but you'll miss out on a great experience.
this is pretty shocking what you guys write here.it is not his fault because u cant do things rite.pepitone dedicates himself to make u learn.he makes the clas intrestin and funny.if u think hes not funny than u too f serious.i think hes the best bio teacher there is.if u dont agree than u not meant for bio.read books and notes, guarrantee B-A grade
The people who write good things about him are his favorites and oh yes he does have favorities. If you are one of Pepitones favorties you are set. He will whisper answers in your ear give you hints on test. If you are not his favorite then you are screwedddd. He spends more time joking than teaching. Which is why people fail.
Funny guy and at the same time extremely informative. Go to every single class attendence is very important. He is very fair but his tests require lots of studying and interpretation not just memorizing terms people! i highly reccommend this professor because you really do learn a tremendous amount and trust me it's worth it
this professor is AMAZING! but VERY hard. i had the second highest grade in my class and my tests grades would be high 80's. you learn A LOT! just be prepared to work hard, dont take him for an easy grade. if your nice to him he'll write you a nice recommendation for med-school like he did for me :) he's also really funny and sarcastic!
Despite nice comments others post up, BE WARNED! Class exam average is usually low 60's. On the last day to drop class many dropped and there were lots of empty seats after. Test is based on notes that he SAYS in class. He jokes occasionally, but really, whats the use of that. Please save yourself and get diff prof if you can. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!
Extremely hard prof who doesnt care about students. Tests are unbelievably hard. Hardly anyone gets a 90. Never goes over a test. Not textbook based, so you gotta write down everything. And he tells some Junior High School jokes repetitively which is very annoying. I highly recommend NOT taking this guy.
Very funny to who understand his jokes. You should just relax and accept his jokes and laugh at them otherwise this class will be brutal. He may sound mean, careless, and disorganized, but just ASK for help. E-mail him, and ask questions, he will answer and he will try to help you. And most importantly STUDY!!!
Seriously, in a one and a half hour class, you barely feel it. With the jokes, the time goes by faster and it allows your brain to relax a bit after a whole lot of info. I learned more from him in one month than the 4 semesters of bio I had combined. If you want to learn something, take his class.
Terrible
This guy is the hardest professor I've ever had in my life! If you fall behind even for a minute, your confused. To me, time went by extremely slow in his class. His jokes r lame. But he is very intelligent. If you take him, do not try to take more than 2 other sciences. I most likely failed this class, so to future students: STUDY OR DONT TAKE HIM
This guy is horrible. He can't teach he gets lost while reading his own work. His jokes are horrible he's the only one that laughs at them. The class is brutal enough without him he just makes it ridiculous. Fake doctor that thinks he knows it all is kind of annoying and distracting at the same time. I recommend never taking this guy. Mr G ith!
he's not as bad as every says...believe me I was scared about taking him but had no choice.. his test are a little hard, u have to read the textbook and the class notes he gives u.. I got all 80s on his tests and 90s on his take home quizs with a 100 on the extra credit assigment and got a B overall. His not the best and his not the worst
Horrible Exams are extremely Hard and doesnt let you record his lectures though he speaks very fast. Take home quizzes are hard as well, overall do not take!
I learned a lot in class but I definitely would NOT recommend him. Wastes time in class by making fun of students and attempts to make up for it by speeding through the material. Take home quizzes are nearly impossible, even with the internet. I didn't think the tests were hard. He doesn't have slides, doesn't take notes and you can't record him.
Worst professor I have had by far. At first he seems decent, but he is full of him self. He gets offended when you ask him a question, is rude, and down right unhelpful. All he does is boast about what a great man he thinks he is. He has no power points, and dictates pages and pages of notes per class. I would not recommend, at all.
Great Teacher! Many people don?t like him because he is hard. Yea he is hard, but for who? Not for a college student, if you are expecting middle school level work, don?t take his class. I have received A?s and B?s on all of my test. But I studied every day in class and even had a personal tutor. Take him! He is a cool guy ONCE you get to know him!
He's a really good teacher, but his tests are ridiculous. He gives so many notes in class and talks so much. He can throw in a good joke every now and then, and it really necessary in an hour class. You have to go to class every time or your definitely behind.
Would highly recommend to any bio student, material is a little rough as it should be. But you'll actually learn in his class. Class is fun and it goes by quick. Very quick response with emails and test grades(up the same day you take them) Also he'll always answer any question you have. As long as u put the time into it you'll do fine.
i cant even begin to emphasize how much you should ignore the previous comments. the subject matter is really interesting but the tests are RIDICULOUS!! GPA KILLER!! avoid this prof. at all costs. whats the point of knowing and being so interested in the material if your gonna fail the tests anyway. DO NOT TAKE.
Nice man very fair but be warned i love bio but taking this class along wit chemistry and other hectic classes is not advisable his exams require studying from the day he issuses the syllabus has his favorites makes class enjoyable with plently of notes willing to explain anything but as he says this class is not for the weak
I'm in my first year of med school and I felt the need to come back on here to let everyone know how HELPFUL his course was! His notes are amazing!! Dr. Pepitone is definitely not easy but if you can handle his class, then you're prepared for professional studies! Thank you Dr. Pepitone
You know people can say whatever they want, but in my opinion and experience Pepitone is one of the best if not the best Professor I ever had.Pepitone is funny, easy going, and very clear. I will admit his exams are difficult but he's thorough and detailed. I learned so much because of him. He's smart and tells you about it, but he backs it up too.
Hard questions on tests and quizzes, and there is a lot of material. As with most upper level bio classes study up and you will be fine. Good info to know, you will see it again if you are going into medicine. Personality is not for everyone, but whose is.
Looks like Robert Deniro. Really funny, and comes off like a real jerk, but he's actually a cool guy. His take home quizzes are very tough, and his tests are too. His notes are extremely in depth and sometimes hard to understand. He doesn't really explain the info, just gives notes all class. Also, be warned: He tells funny bad jokes!
Pepitone is the hardest professor I've ever had in my entire life. I got into a fight with him over something stupid and he embarrassed me so badly in front of the class. His exams are extremely difficult as well as his take home quizzes. This class is the reason I might fail out of my major.
Honestly,Pepitone is probably the best bio teachers u can ask for. yea obviously the test are a little hard, but No body said being a bio/P.A major was going to be a walk in the park. His class flies by, hes funny, makes jokes. If you take GOOD NOTES(presented slowly...typing notes is ideal) study them diligently, you will be fine. curves slightly
I'm having him for neurobio. I studied both from his notes and the book prior to the first exam. His exam is majority not from his notes and there's questions that he didn't even finish covering. He just lecture from his notes at 7:30a.m. Boring class. Rather study from notes.
took him for neuro and now histo. one of the better professors at st johns. these are challenging classes people! he gives good review sheets and e.c. tests are straight from notes, so take good notes. for all yall ripping on him, take a joke/hit, its WHO HE IS! so relax. do what oyu have to do/study, and youll get an A.
Dr. P was the best professor I ever had. I had him concurrently for neuro and histo. He has an excellent command for anatomical and histological language, and an acute memory for detail. He delivers lectures of the material in an equally impressive manner. An A+ is guaranteed if you study like you should. He should make his tests harder!
Very confusing. I was an A student before taking his class where I got a B. He does not have a good teaching method and just talks for the whole class.Don't take him if you want to get a good grade.
Pepitone is one of the better professors at St. John's. He actually teaches you the material and his notes are EXTREMELY helpful. Read the text book and notes before tests, and use his quizzes as a study reference as well. Not a hard class at all, just requires effort.
goes down to the finest details that nobody cares about.. tells stupid jokes and wastes time .. such a nasty attitude .. avoid like a plague
Reading these comments, I was so scared of taking his class, but I ended up having to take it. At first, he seemed really mean, but the guy has a good heart. You need to put in the effort to take notes and read the textbook for his class, and he will help you out. Take his class if you really want to learn anything.
I had Pepitone for Histology. At first I was really scared. But Pepitone really cares about his students. If you don't put in the work Histology is going to kick your butt just because it is so much material but he gives extra credit opportunities. The only thing that bothers me is he really makes you stay almost the whole time for the 4 hour lab.
Pepitone is one of the best Bio teachers at St Johns! His jokes make the time fly by, and he gives great lectures. I learned so much in this class that it's helped me in other bio classes and with the MCAT. Plus he gives e.c. and the tests and quizzes aren't too hard. I looked forward to his class and never missed a day--you won't regret taking him
One of the best BIO professors at St. Johns!!Not an easy class, you have to put effort and keep up with the material but he is so nice and funny and you learn so much! Took him for Histology and loved him!
He is the most disorganized lab instructor. His class in painfully inefficient and you will stay the whole 3 hours, likely sitting around for most of it until the last 30 minutes when he finally assigns an activity. Tough quizzes and exams. With a lot of independent effort an A can be achieved. Not highly recommended.
If you want to learn take Dr. P. THE BEST great person and Professor all around wonderful! You have to work and show up but it pays off, just like anything! Good Luck and enjoy!!!!
Honestly he is a great professor!!! you will learn things that will benefit you in life. He makes class fun with his amazing jokes and time flies by because of the amount of typing. STUDY the notes and come to class and you will ACE his exam. Exams are not HARD,they just require that you study and you put in extra effort. Amazing guy!!!
3 exams (including non cumulative final), 25% each. 3 take home quizzes total of 25%. Lectures can be very detailed, but that's ap for you! Tests are tough but are true to what you review in class- study hard and its easy to do well. nice guy- he is older and SO smart
Dr. Pepitone is a great professor. He really makes sure that the class understands all the material and conveys it coherently. His exams can be tough, but as long as you study his notes and the textbook, you'll be completely fine. His quizzes also help boost your grade since they're take home.
horrible class. was forced to withdraw was an a student
Terrible teacher. He rants Jai Dwivedi but cant even teach himself and gets his notes from wikipedia. Avoid.
horrible teacher. rating should be lower than what is is. term exam 1 was the "easiest" and class average was a 55
Do not take for Neurobiology; he seems to think this is a graduate class. He just comes in and reads a packet of notes aloud and wastes half the class making corny jokes. Not a fan of his teaching style at all and considering the class average on the first exam was in the 50s or 60s, I doubt the rest of the class is either.
Get ready for exams with 60+ multiple choice questions and extra credit questions you won't ever have time for. His tests are ridiculous- he is very detailed. His lectures are by the worst- he reads off of his notes which are super long and that too very quickly. Can't even tell when the sentence ends when he lectures. Expected to know everything.
GREAT professor! He's really funny and makes the subject matter bearable and interesting. No reason to do poorly in this class b/c he gives extra credit and take-home quizzes. An A won't magically fall into your lap so if you're willing to work you'll be more than fine. Really enjoyed this class, don't let the bitter reviews below scare you away.
Truly an amazing professor, I really enjoyed his teaching style. He cares about his students and wants you to do well. You get 3 exams, including the final which isn't cumulative. 3 take home quizzes plus extra credit that boosts your grade. It's a difficult course but as long as you study for the exams from the lecture notes, you'll be fine.
Pepitone is the best professor I've ever had. He has tons and tons of experience and cares deeply about all of his students. Taking him for Neuro has helped me in so many ways and his lectures are a great insight into medical school level teaching and material. He brings humor to class to ease the tension and is very easy to connect with
worst biology class ever. He does not know how to teach and compares his class in med school level difficulty. AVOID if possible. Supposed to be an intro class.
Horrible professor! He reads off a page of notes during lecture. His tests are impossible and not based on his notes or the textbook. The test averages are so much lower than the other sections . He is so arrogant and condescending. Intimidating and unapproachable. AVOID! he acts like he is genius when in reality he is just a chiropractor.
He thinks that he is funny which he is not. He just reads from his notes, which is a lot and he jumps everywhere when he reads from his notes, it is not in order so it is hard to follow. The way he grades is different from how the school is supposed to grade. He does not curve and expects us to know everything. He is smart, but not teaching wise.
He is the worst professor I have encountered in my life. He give us lectures outlines which are half filled and then in class he just reads his packets of notes in class so fast while we are supposed to write down everything he says. There is no teaching he is just reading his notes. Expects to know all the notes which very detailed.
Overall great experience. Organized, fair, knowledgeable. Must attend class. Great sense of humor. Great clinical correlations.
If you plan on taking the MCAT and attend medical school do take this course. Very intense. Alot of material to cover but well worth it. He is quite intelligent and knows his subject. Will also give anatomy notes as a bonus to bio students. Lab is tedious so keep on pace. Gives alot of ways to do well. Tests are fair but thorough.
Lengthy course, filled with information, and can be difficult if you don't study. However he is focused on teaching every aspect of neurobiology with you. His quizzes and tests can be hard if you don't study. He is willing to work with the class and with you as an individual because he cares. If you want to go to clinical career, take this class.
Fun course with alot of information if you are interested in pursuing a clinical career choice or clinical school like Medicine, Dental, PA, and the such. You have to/ should go to every class. Pay attention and actually study ahead of time for the quizzes he has. He lightens a dense subject through corny jokes. Otherwise, Pepitone is a chill guy.
Very good professor with a clear class policy. Likes to crack jokes in class and makes class interesting with some cases hes had in his chiropractic profession. This is a class where you get what you put in.
One of the hardest classes ive taken. Tests are fair as long as you pay attention. Good guy and makes the lectures interesting.
You MUST put in the work in this class. Very good teacher but he wants to make sure you know the material the right way.
Dr. P is the best teacher you can ask for. He gives out note packets and goes through every detail he wants you to know. tests are no surprise as long as you pay attention and read the textbook you can get an A easy. His class is one where you must do the homework strive. He will ask you questions and make sure you understand the chapter.
Awesome professor. Really knowledgeable in the material and great teacher.
Fantastic professor. Highly recommended. Very helpful with any questions.
Pay attention in this class because it can get difficult if you don't study; there are quizzes pretty much every other class, and they will kind of determine how you do. Study each slide, because the information is very specific. Pepitone cracks jokes in class. He is playful. He does a good job at explaining at form for function.
The course is pretty thorough and covers every topic in regards to neurobiology. The class is not easy but if you put the effort in, you will do just fine. I studied everyday for atleast 2 hours while studying for my MCAT, which overlapped in terms of informaton, and I did fine on both. Show up to class and listen to what he is saying.
This course is rough no matter who you take it with. Pepitone is b far the best to take it with though. He is so hilarious and makes class fun. I enjoyed going to class even though the class work was difficult. He's the man.
Take him for PHS3101! I really enjoyed this class. He is so intelligent and really helps his students succeed. We learned about how the systems worked and how they are debilitated. He asks his students lots of questions to encourage participation and help us learn. Of course this class requires work, but he will make sure you pass and do well!
Dreaded going to class. Likes to pick on students randomly. The questions on the test do not match what was learned in class.
This class was not transparent at all. Refused to say what the average final grade was at the end of the semester. Claims it was a bell curve when the average grade was a C- and only one person received a A. Makes no sense.
So surprised by all the positive reviews. Had him for two classes last semester and it was a known fact that all the students hated him. Taking him as a sophomore was a mistake as he teaches at a much higher level.
The exams are tricky, but just study the outlines. Do not read the textbook its a waste of time. If you don't understand something watch YouTube videos. Overall, the lectures are straight-forward. He is a very caring, hilarious professor.
Terrible professor. Don't know where his exam questions came from. Avoid.
The absolute worst and uncaring professor I have ever had at SJU. The only way you can get an A is if you study his messy and disorganized 20+ page outlines which he makes you mindlessly type for at least 2 hours every night. In class, he would constantly make fun of students and waste time by telling jokes (which aren't funny at all). AVOID!!!!!
Spends time in class having us write up very detailed notes/study guides that he dictates. He gives us one textbook in class but really his notes are from a different book. Find that book, it has all the pics and should help put the whole picture together. Gives 10 extra credit questions on exams that helps. He is hilarious!!! Makes class fun.
Do Not Take! To begin he feels like he is doing us a favor and tries to be funny. Gives us note packets which are blank, and the whole class involves everyone writing over what he says. He ends up adding 10 pages of notes by talking, most of it is useless even if you know it by heart anyway because gets his questions and material elsewhere. Lazy!
Gives you outlines and makes you rewrite them with extra information from some where else and most of it doesn't show up on the exam. I'm not sure if he uses a bell curve or something like that, but nonetheless you end up stressing about memorizing stuff that will never show up on his exam. Stick to the material pepto.
Every single class is 90 minutes of taking dictated notes for the outlines he hands us. Each exam is overwhelming (upwards of 90 pages of notes from class to go over for each one) and incredibly specific. He's not the nicest person either, doesn't curve but will occasionally gives points back. All in all, would not recommend.
Honestly , he isn't a bad professor. You just have to work hard to get a decent grade. He is very fair and even gives us study material. Read the textbook and read his notes and you will do well. He is a funny guy , I guess some people just don't understand his humor lol. Just work hard , you'll do well
Dr. Pepitone is one of the best professors I have ever had. I had him both for A&P II & Pathology. Everything he taught has been useful and carried over onto my PA school knowledge. If you dont have a sense of humor dont take him! Hes a phenomanal man & has my upmost respect. Incredibly smart!! He makes you earn your grade as he should.
haven't taken the first exam yet, but gotta say, this man makes you work for your grade, like you should for a class like this, and I'm actually really happy with him so far. People are so used to just running around and finding teacher's that will give easy A's. That ain't how life works sweetheart.
He makes you type all class and it is sometimes hard to keep up if you cant type extremely fast. There are 3 tests. First one is relatively easy, 2nd one is impossible, and the final is easy if you study enough. His tests are straight from the lecture notes.
He makes you work for your grade, The first test is not bad at all, the second test is a killer and the final is in the middle. All the tests have extra credit which helps. Just make sure to study his notes carefully and you'll be good
This professor treats you like you're in Graduate or Medical School. For the whole duration of the class, you are required to write really lengthy notes. Sometimes, he dictates so fast it is hard to catch up. The exams are very tricky. He lacks sympathy and does not care to help you improve your grade. DO NOT TAKE HIM. If u would like a decent gpa
This man is by far the worst professor I have ever had in my entire lifetime. He is not funny but tries to crack jokes like he is a comedian. He gives out blank pages of notes thinking that he is so kind for doing so, but then just ends up adding 15+ pages of notes. He is extremely unhelpful at his office hours and does not care about his students.
Had him for A&P. Worst professor I have EVER had. Please DO NOT take him even if your life depended on it. Arrogant. Rude. Every time I see him on campus I get flashbacks of and PTSD from his horrible class.
He's a decent professor, but really drags out the lectures. So much time is spent to one chapter that everything gets either rushed or delayed. Very lengthy notes (about 8-10 pages a chapter) and there's 4 chapters on each test. Tests are tricky and he doesn't work with you to improve your grade. Really, he's just nice guy and an okayish professor.
You can go to him 10 times begging for help and he will not help you. He doesnt care about your grade. You have to earn your grade he says. Everyone fails his tests besides those few A students there always are. His tests are very tricky. He gives 3 big tests & 3 quizzes which do nothing to your grade. No homework or extra credit. Dont take him!!
Studied on my own time hours a week to do well in this class. He lectures chapters but goes off on tangents, so runs out of time and rushes through some topics. 4 exams, 4 take home quizzes to prep for exam. Final not cumulative. Not accessible, nice guy, bad prof- taught myself everything. Hoping for an A, thanks to myself
Friendly guy, awful professor. Would avoid unless you enjoy teaching yourself neurobiology. Skims through chapters without going too much in depth. Gave out "reviews" for every exam but more than half the exam wouldn't be on the review. Attendance wasn't mandatory but he would give you a couple points if you show up consistently
Good professor overall. 3 tests: 50 mp each + 10 extra credit mp. Attendance is not mandatory but you have to go to class becuse you have to fill out the packets he gives you. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK. As long as you study hard the notes you'll get good grades
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Unless you already know a lot about biology and can teach yourself don't waste your time. You are only graded on 4 tests and 4 quizzes. The quizzes are done at home so you can usually finesse those but the tests are very different from the way he lectures. He literally just reads facts off a paper the entire time.
The class covers a lot of material, but no lab so it is doable. You have to attend class and write down everything he says in lecture. Two midterms and a final, 50 MC's and 10 bonus questions. The professor is very caring and knows his stuff. A lot of the material covered is great review for the DAT and MCAT. He is reachable after class.
Professor Pepitone is by far the best biology professor Ive had so far at St. Johns. Always accessible during office hours (ask for help if you need it!) Is hilarious and will continuously attempt to keep the class engaged. He is very knowledgable in the material covered during class. Participate and take notes on absolutely everything!
The absolute work professor I have ever had in my life and I am only 4 days into my online anatomy class. His teaching styles makes absolutely zero sense. He gives outlines but nothing is filled out. You spend the whole class typing what he says which makes it impossible to learn anything. I would never in a million years reccomend failed professor
Dr. Pepitone is one of the best professors I have had in my 3 of college so far. He is kind, intelligent, genuinely cares about helping students excel. if you aspire to attend medical/pa/dental/vet school/pt school, he will prepare for a very smooth transition. If you are preparing for a career in education he prepare you well to retain the info.
He is a great guy and even better professor. Must take him he is by far one of the best in the department. He makes lectures fun and genuinely teaches you the material. He teaches the material very well and over prepares you to pass his exams and pass the class with a great grade. Would definitely take him again.
Get ready to work, definitley a tough class, lectures are extremely packed with information.
Really funny and caring, but not the best professor. He spends most of class time just reading information to you and rushes. It's not impossible to do well if you use the review sheet as a reference of topics instead of questions. There was a curve this time, but not always promised. Take his class if you're willing to self-study and cram a bit.
Dr. Pepitone is a great person, his teaching methods don't always apply for everyone but he does try to be understanding. His tests are very conceptual and hard, so I would definitely advise studying weeks prior and definitely go to class so that you have the information that you need. Tests are worth a majority of your grades, so just be mindful
This class is def not an easy A, but if you're welling to put the work in you will be fine. Pepitone tries his best to like make sure his students do good, he tries to even crack a few jokes just to lighten the mood. But you def have to take the initiative to study and do what you gotta do bcz his tests are hard.
Don't take this professor if you have any hopes of having a high GPA or want to be an MD, PA, AT etc. Your whole grade is based of 3 tests and 3 quizzes but the tests are weighted at 75% of your grade. The class average was always about a 60% and he deliberately withholds study materials from his students even when we beg for them.
his tests are impossible and lectures are dictated and very easy to get lost and behind in. get the lecture notes from someone and memorize them. Nice and funny guy tho and likes talking to students when he sees you in school and curve you a letter grade if he likes you :) not a good prof tho.. take literally anyone else.
Horrible professor. He will try to ruin your gpa, if possible avoid him at all costs. Probably the worst professor in the entire biology department.
People have been fired for saying half of what this guy says lol I get trying to be comedic but it's crazy how he still has a job compared to what I see on social media and news people being fired for a lot less
Absolutely the hardest class I've ever taken. His exam's are incredibly difficult and nearly impossible. If you wanna save your gpa, don't take him. Also, he waste's so much time making unecessary jokes and comments during class it's ridiculous. Absolutely avoid him.
NO NO NO. His exams are on a medical school level. His questions are beyond unfair. Over 15 questions on his test had two answers that could have been correct but he only accepted one answer. He is beyond rude and told me I should reconsider my academic plans because he doesn't believe I'll be able to succeed. He outs students and even made one cry
I beg of you to never take this professor. He doesn't have proper lectures, only a collection of worksheets. Exams are specific and leave no room for errors. The average for exams was usually around the 50s. Out of pity or amusement, he will throw in a two point extra credit. You must study for hours every day to get above an 80, if you can at all.
Prof Pepitome is the best bio prof I've had. He enforces an active note taking approach during his lectures, which is really helpful. This is a hard class, and his tests reflect that, but he wants you to do well. He replies to emails almost instantly, and he really knows his stuff. He also tries hard to rmm his students which I really appreciate.
I had him for neurobiology and the final was the hardest exam I have ever taken. They are med school level questions and absolutely impossible to study for. He will give you a "review sheet" for the final exam but it wasn't very useful because the exam was FULL of surprises. MC Answers were also worded weirdly and hard to understand.
If half the class dropping doesn't say everything it needs to about this class, I don't know what will.
runnnn. he's a narcissist who's jealous of everyone's desire to go to any professional school other than chiropractic school. his exams are insanely difficult. he'll announce your failing grade to the entire class without hesitation. he had an episode in one class which caused the bio dept to step in and tell him to stop. that should tell u enough
He is a great guy. Dark sense of humor, however. You'll either love him or hate him as a person. He means well, but doesnt understand how incredibly difficult his own course is. His medical school level exams are like brain teasers. Your entire grade is based off of three exams essentially. Reads off a fact sheet and provides no deep explanations.
Makes a lot of jokes, some might find it insulting. Midterms and finals are taken in person and is very hard but quiz are online. Gives hw in advance with a lot of time. Says he cares about students and shows that. 2/3 of class almost failed but he gave us a generous curve.
Study 1+ hr multiple days a week as you through semester. He goes fast, record lectures. Take good notes, lectures don't match slides. Study with lecture notes + connect HW w/o reading textbook- read book if u miss lecture/need extra help. Lectures have all info needed for exams (80% grade) STUDY, don't take if you don't like to study. 3.5/5
Grade determined by 2 exams and 1 final. 1st test is easiest, last 2 make sure u study hard or u will be cooked (avg for final was 53). Study both in class notes and PowerPoints. Quizzes online open book. Homework completion based. An entertaining guy who really cares for his students, shown by his generous curve at the end (went from B+ to A).
Every time I drove to his class I wouldn't wear a seatbelt hoping id die before I got there
Lecture heavy but extremely engaging. Gives fill in the blank notes to do during lecture. 2 midterms, 1 final (HARDEST). Basically graded on exams. Hw is optional. Write everything he says in class and review later for exams. 3 online quizzes that are super hard. Def not an easy professor but was highly educated and one of the best.
Funny guy, test heavy but he goes over all the topics in class. Pay attention. He gave some extra credit as well. He also curves if you have good attendance.
