The material is not super difficult, but the exams can throw curve balls sometimes.
He often gave good feedbacks and was really into lectures. The final was really tough but the midterms were not.
Gomez is pretty clear. He sticks to the book and is pretty helpful as well. He posted all the lecture notes on bcourses so if you missed lecture you were fine. Depending on your GSI discussion was more or less optional unless it was a quiz day. Exams are rough but the curve saves us all. He is a good teacher though.
Gomez sticks 100% to the textbook (STUDY IT). He is absolutely brilliant and always willing to take extra time to help his students. His pacing for lectures could definitely use some work. Often times he would cram 4-5 examples into the last 3 minutes of class. He listens to his students, he's nice, he cracks jokes here and there; he's a great guy.
Horrible, horrible teacher. Extremely unclear in class--does not even use the blackboard. Just slides his notes under a projector. Explains even the easiest terms in ways that I could not understand, and I had already taken more advanced Calculus than this class. Worst math professor at Berkeley.
He's the most adorable man I have ever come across in my life. He's so sweet and helpful and his mannerism are so adorable! As a teacher he's very theory-based and so he will lecture on that a lot even though it won't be on the quizzes or tests. To get an A is up to you to do practice problems and study! Go to office hours he's really helpful!
I'm sure he is a brilliant man but he is a horrible teacher. You cannot understand his accent and he goes way too fast showing his scribbles of notes. Definitely do not take his class if you have even the slightest troubles with Calculus.
Gomez is pretty difficult to understand with his accent and his handwriting can be illegible much of the time. I overall would say he's a fine professor, my biggest complaint was that for teaching an introduction to Calculus class (16A), he spent so much time on theory/proofs that we weren't tested on and didn't detail how to do basic problems.
Honestly, he's a fantastic teacher. You get used to his accent and his handwriting. He's very good at teaching things in a general and then a specific way. If you're every unclear about anything, you can email him, and he's super fast and emailing back. Also his OHs go way longer than are stated because he really tries to accommodate every student.
Emiliano is a fine lecturer-his accent isn't really that bad. He doesn't go over hard enough examples in class, he just shows the methods, but you can study to make up for it. However the final exam for this class was way harder than anything we were prepared for. Be wary of the weekly quizzes they can be a lot harder on your grade than you think.
Truly one of the worst professors I have ever had. While he may be a good person, he is a horrible teacher.
Emiliano was by far one of the best professors I've had so far; anyone who says otherwise likely didn't put enough effort into the class and was butt hurt when the final exam wasn't a rehash of old mid term questions. Sorry, this isn't CC where you can slack off and get an A. His notes were also well written and the final curve was crazy generous.
Gomez is a great professor who cares about his students and how much they learn. He posts his lecture notes online, which is helpful because he occasionally adds something that isn't in the textbook. He does have a bit of an accent but is completely understandable. Exams are difficult but fair. If you put in the work you will do well.
Gomez truly cares about his students. His lectures may be a bit confusing but he posts practice problems for students to practice before the midterms and finals. Exams are fair with generous curves on the grades. Overall, a very passionate instructor.
Tough if you don't have experience in calc or if math is not your thing. Test was IMPOSSIBLE, unless math is your thing and you get it. professor doesn't really help. most kids that got easy A's knew the material beforehand/are really good at math! Professor was accessible and really cared about explaining, however didn't seem to help in the end
Gomez makes sure he is transparent about course policies, what will be on tests, consistent on posting online lecture notes, and is very willing to answer questions on homework problems in office hours. He also talks very fast during lecture as he mostly reads off of his own notes. One of the final questions was modeled off of the 2nd midterm.
Horrible professor, he over complicates the class and makes easy concepts unnecessarily difficult. If you are really into math theory, then you might not mind his teaching style, however seeing how most of the class aren't math majors, there's no reason for this class to be so abstract. The GSIs were awful too and the tests were unfair.
I swear to god this guy is a legend. His midterms are semi respectable and he's a great person. However, don't take the class. I hate him. His lectures are useless and he has a slight accent, you're gonna have to read the textbook.
Professor Gomez was a very fair professor for this class. His class was not terribly difficult in my perspective, but he does try to do a lot of proofs which is often times very confusing. His tests were fair and were not terribly difficult if you understand the material well. Also, he is very kind during office hours and will answer any question.
Gomez is a really nice guy but lectures are sometimes unnecessarily confusing. He always posts his notes online so attendance is not required but he goes over the examples during class. Tests are fair and he is very willing to help students. Hw and quizzes every week or 2, and a few are also dropped. There's a really generous class curve at the end
Professor Gomez was an amazing person and a well-respected professor. His lectures were sometimes a bit unnecessarily confusing but he was trying his best and should be recognize for that! Definitely would take his class again though simply based on how great of a person he is. Really caring and kind teacher!
While he is a nice man, his teaching is below subpar. Lectures are poor, and the handwritten slides are in such bad handwriting, theyre unreadable. Studying was useless because the exams were so hard nothing we wont over in class could have prepared me.
His lectures can go a little fast, but I like how he uploaded the lecture notes a couple days before the lecture, which were pretty comprehensive; that way I could study the notes and keep up with the professor. His exams are fair game, sometimes tricky.
He's a very cute and kind professor. Exams are fair, most questions seen in hw and one or two harder ones that require thinking. I enjoy his lectures a lot and he posts lecture notes before and update them after class too!
This class had what I thought was a generous curve and he was always willing to answer additional questions from students. Lecture notes are also always posted online.
Professor Gomez's lectures can move quite rapidly, so he can sometimes be difficult to understand for material that you may not have seen beforehand. Nevertheless, he genuinely cares about his students and adjusted his methods based on feedback from the students. He also did his best to accommodate everyone during the Covid -19 pandemic.
Professor Gomez obviously cares about his students, and he was extremely accommodating during COVID. His lectures can move a bit quick at times, but his notes (which he posts) are easy to follow so you can always go back to review.
YES - Math 1B was probably the hardest class I've taken at Cal (granted, I'm a psych major now so I haven't taken too many other technical classes), but Prof Gomez was very clear in his lectures, open to feedback, and gave lots of examples. I appreciated his teaching. Had an A in the class all semester but bombed the final and still got a B!
Sometimes lectures are fast and he reads off of his typed notes which can be hard to follow at times. If you go to OH he can explain it a lot better. Not much homework and for COVID he gave us very generous extensions and wider grade bins. His quizzes were very easy; midterms were pretty straightfwd, just might be a little bit of a time crunch.
Best professor I ever met. Clear instructions & guidelines for assignments and tests. Extremely lenient for difficulties with coronavirus. A fair amount of work. Straightforward class. Paying attention to class material will get you an A. I want to have him as a professor again for sure.
Amazingly caring and accomodating for circumstances. Lectures are pretty clear but didn't go to any. Always posts his post-lecture notes which are the best.
Emiliano was so caring and always ensured we wouldn't miss out on easy points - extended HW deadline to end of semester, drops lowest quiz/hw score. Always active on Piazza, and not always the clearest lecturer but AMAZING at explaining in OH. GSIs were slow on grading (extremely), but he did his best to keep us updated and in the loop :) recommend
I wish I took Math1A instead. Prof Gomez is caring and wants you to succeed, but his teaching is atrocious. During lectures he reads off his pre-typed notes and will do 2-3 examples. The GSIs are terrible, so don't expect to get grades back quickly and often my GSI struggled to help us with HW problems. Exams are short so you can't make any errors
Gomez was so understanding during the COVID & is super responsive on Piazza. Grade cutoffs were super generous & the exams/quizzes were really straightforward. As long as you do the homework and look at lecture notes, you should be set.
Emiliano is an an A+ teacher. He is very caring, very transparent, and very nice. He was always responsive to my emails and was very helpful during OH. However, your entire grade is homework, 3 exams, and quizzes, which can be tough. He did shift grading bins though, which was a lifesaver. His handwriting can be illegible sometimes.
Professor Gomez was really nice and cared about his students. The exam category (3 midterms) makes up 60% so it is important to try and do well on the exams. Each gsi graded homework at a different pace but I was very fortunate to know my homework scores within a week or 2. The professor always kept us in the loop and was active on Piazza.
He was super accommodating when we transitioned to online learning. He made the grade bins very lenient (nearly half of the class got an A- or above). I studied using his lecture notes/examples, discussion questions, and HW questions. He often reuses them for tests/quizzes. No cumulative final either, just 3 midterms. Such a sweet guy!
Super sweet guy and super accommodating as we transitioned to a virtual semester. Lenient grade bins (half of the class got an A- or above). 3 midterms and no cumulative final. Often reused lecture/textbook problems for quizzes/tests. Midterms were open book. Quizzes were not.
I only did Calc AB in HS so I was pretty worried. Prof Gomez provided a plethora of resources - GSI office hours, his own frequent office hours, quick piazza responded, helpful lectures. He is a fair kind and clear communicator. Gave lenient HW deadlines during pandemic and tests modeled of HW
I took Math 16A equivalent over the summer, and going into my first calc class at Cal, I was super scared; however, Professor Emiliano really cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed if they put in the work. He has regular OH and makes sure his explanation makes sense to you. He's also super responsive over Piazza!
Boring lectures but the tests were not too bad.
Emiliano Gomez is truly a kind man. His heart is gold. Though math is hard, he does his best and it is so heartwarming to see his passion shine through the pixels on my MacBook Air. This man is the only one who cares about our well being at this University. Above all, he just wants us to be happy. A true, true king. Bless his heart and soul <3
He is such a funny person (comments on textbook and occasional cameos from his dog and his brother). He is one of the rare professors that actually care about our mental health. However, homework is hefty and an answer explanation session for hw and midterms would be appreciated (GSIs weren't too helpful).
Gomez is a nice guy but 16B is just so boring I stopped going to lecture midway through the semester and read out of the textbook. The first midterm was super easy and I think he thought he made it TOO easy so then the second and third midterm/final were super hard to compensate or something. Also, homework was annoyingly time-consuming.
Prof. Gomez was a great lecturer and always did his best to accommodate us, even online. Communication was quick through Piazza. Felt that the workload was appropriate for a 3 unit class. Despite some quiz and midterm problems that were significantly harder than the rest, the grading was fair and the lenient grade bins matched the difficulty.
Prof was very understanding and really did want students to succeed. Exams were fairly difficult but biweekly quizzes helped to balance out my grade.
Professor Gomez was a decent professor for math 110. The exams were tough but reasonable. He follows the textbook by the letter but given that the textbook used is good the lectures were also good. They could've been more engaging, though. He also gave HW problem hints for the difficult problems which helped a lot of students.
He is really flexible and caring! When we said the homework problems are difficult, he then gave us the homework hints. He responded to our questions patiently and is always willing to answer them. A really nice professor!
This professor was below average. He skipped arguably the MOST important topic in the 110 curriculum which is Jordan forms, he misleadingly called all his tests "very very easy" and his lectures were EXTREMELY dry. He did not take the time to explain the fundamentals and made the subject very very uninteresting. Would not recommend.
Math 53 sucks, but Professor Gomez really tried to make it suck less. The exams were rough, and the quizzes were even rougher. It depends on the GSI you get, if you got stuck with a bad one it just made everything worse. Professor Gomez is always really helpful and nice and gives plenty of examples, but this is a challenging course nonetheless.
I really loved prof Gomez. As math professors go, he really cares about students learning and takes time to answer questions and explain. The two weeks between quizzes was rough because there was so much content on them. It really comes down to your gsi whether or not you do well
Gomez goes too much in depth for certain math concepts that are not necessary for the long term. His lectures were pretty fast so it made it difficult for me to grasp the topic and take notes most of the time. After the first midterm, I stopped attending lectures and instead self taught myself and DID BETTER on the second midterm. Will update later
Super nice guy who really cares about his students so midterms/grading/hw aren't very hard. His lecture notes are dense so lecture is hard to follow but the lecture notes are very useful for revision (I barely used the textbook). I attended lectures just because I enjoyed his light-hearted and caring nature!
Prof Gomez's humor lights up the room. Unfortunately, I found his lectures hard to follow. I usually still went to get exposed to ideas, then learned from textbk/YouTube. Although he posts other profs' past exams (not his own), I found homework AND examples from textbk most helpful for test prep. Remember, Math53 is challenging in general!
Gomez is very nice and helpful if you reach out during office hours. He is not very clear about grading, grades come down to a curve he determined at the end of the semester. The curve for my class was pretty good, so although anxiety was high throughout the semester, it was fine in the end. He also provides great lecture notes. I would recommend
liked math 53. the class is going to be hard regardless of the professor, and afaik all math 53 professors have pre-made notes that they fill in during class, so lectures are FAST. gomez is a cute guy and i felt he explained things fairly well. test averages are low but grade is curved at the end. weekly quizzes. weekly homework (4 hrs / week).
very responsive and organized professor who seems nice enough. however exams are extremely difficult (class avg is ~57% :,)) and harder than other math classes here. offers clobber but no curve. imo gomez doesn't prepare us for exams, the practice exams he gives + the hw/quizzes we're supposed to study with is not similar to the exam at all.
kind and decent professor but does not give any materials to prepare for exams. gives old exams often without answer keys making them useless and admits that he didnt even look at the questions on these old exams b4 giving them to us so he doesn't think its accurate to his test questions... BASICALLY completely self guided class, very tough tests
Prof Gomez is amazing! He is very kind, supportive, funny, and clear. Lectures are easy to follow and easy to catch up on (with blank lecture notes, their solutions, and the recordings). He is the best! Class structure is well thought out and quizzes are representative of the homework, and exams are representative of quizzes and in-class examples.
Allows cheat sheets on midterms. He is always willing to take questions and explains everything pretty clearly in lectures. He is also really on top of updating things on canvas like lecture notes and announcements and everything.
Provides copy of textbook for hw. Exam aren't horrible, you can tell he tries to help you out and not trick you. Quizzes and lectures are ok, kind of hard to follow. Very kind and very helpful during office hours. Is very generous at the end when adjusting grade bins. doesn't provide his own past practice midterms, which was annoying.
I would not recommend taking this class unless you have a solid foundation in calculus. The way the course material was presented appeared random. I found the best way to learn most of the material was by memorizing procedures rather than expanding conceptual knowledge.
If you're taking math 53, look up Professor Leonard. He will explain everything better. However, I don't know how much he'll help you do on the tests. I came into the final feeling extremely prepared and got absolutely annihilated with the questions prof Gomez gave.
HARDEST class I've taken, homework is awful and takes all day. makes concepts so much harder then they need to be. Tests are Hell on Earth, be aware when he gives you a cheat sheet it means you're going to fail. more concerned about his dogs birthday than people passing the class. GSI's are also unhelpful. DO NOT TAKE
this is single handedly the HARDEST class I've taken at Cal. His lectures are straight from the textbook and the examples are not helpful. The GSIs can barely teach and homework takes FOREVER. I have never seen test averages so low, physics 8a has higher averages (enough said). The midterms and quizzes are OBSCENELY difficult. don't take!!
Just terrible. Crams too many material at once with his lectures making topics much harder than it needs to be. Also picks unreasonably long homework problem sets that sometimes do not align with procedural methods on how to solve the general concept at hand. Please do not take him!
rough. rough. rough. 🐶
he is a sweet old guy but he's so bad at teaching and lectures are so hard to sit through
Really nice guy, will answer questions but you just have to ask. There's a load of homework problems. Lectures are helpful, he does practice problems from the textbook. The exams are severely difficult. Average on the second midterm was ~30% and the final was 50%. Try to take 1B with diff professor based on the exam difficulty alone.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. Please do not take this course and run away as fast as you can. Wait until spring semester for Paulin
worst experience of my life. homework was unnecessarily long. very rough lectures, he skimmed through so much material while explaining none of it. the GSI's were never on the same page. tests from literal hell, all was theoretical and irrelevant to the homework problems. midterm 2 average was a 30%... never take his class.
Math 1B is hard regardless of which professor you take it with. Gomez gave hard exams, but final grades are curved so you can get an A- with a 66% raw score. The homework was harder than the quiz questions and about the same difficulty as the midterm and final exams. Fast paced class with proof heavy lectures, but no proofs on exams.
Homework was long but graded on completion so it just helped prep for tests. Tests were super hard, but it is a hard class overall. The curve was fine. He is an okay lecturer if you skim the book before hand and use the homework to learn. Lecture is useful to show up to. Math 1B is a hard class in general but he is a nice guy.
While Professor Gomez is very funny, his lectures are incredibly fast-paced and hard to follow. He fills out a pre-written note sheet on the projector which is not suitable for my style of learning. I took Math1b and your grade mostly depends on test scores, so study up!
Clear and informative lectures. Basically no attendance mandatory other than quizzes and midterms. Difficult tests, but entirely fair unlike what some will claim. Reasonable policies.
nice guy and cares but lectures are USELESS. goes too fast, doesnt explain foundational things well. highly recommend paulins lecture videos instead. midterms/finals are hard but class averages are low, so youll be ok if you study hard. he gives good cheat sheets/formulas so you focus on application over memorizing. take time to understand the hw
Gomez is a good person and a fair professor. Lectures are incredibly fast and overly theoretical, 1B will always be a weeder class. Gomez has a reasonable grading policy, but exams are tough and do not look like the homework. Its ok because the curve will be crazy, so just dont get intimidated by his crazy speedy lectures and use textbook instead.
Math 1B will be a tough class regardless of who the professor is. Professor Gomez sloppily sped through 4ish chapters, had a somewhat helpful staff, and gave shitty exams; these are not reasons as to why you would not pass his class. Hold yourself accountable after the first quiz and look for other ways to LEARN what he was unable to teach
Math 1B w/ Gomez is the first math class I've taken at Cal. He is a caring guy. The first midterm was easy, second midterm was brutal, and the final was manageable. He bases tests off the hw rather than the past midterms. Lectures weren't necessary. Pretty much read the book, do the hw, watch Youtube videos, attend OH and you'll earn an A.
Lectures definitely got confusing at times, but the textbook was always a good backup as long as you figured out which long proofs and stuff you didn't need to know for the course. Tests were more straightforward than the practice tests for previous years, but still tough. Do the homework thoroughly, review before tests, and you'll be fine.
Lectures were fast-paced so I pre-wrote notes for each lecture and that was really helpful. The tests were really difficult so study hard. All tests had a reasonable curve imo and the GSIs were pretty lenient with the partial credit. Homework was graded on completion, not accuracy.
The class was pretty fast-paced and the second midterm and final had a much higher level of difficulty compared to the first midterm. Hes a fun person to listen to, but the class requires a bit of devotion if math isn't your strong suit. Pretty generous with the curve in the end as well.
His entire curriculum revolves around doing the homework. The quizzes? Revised Homework problems. The exams? Harder homework probelms that are super niche. Just do the homework assigned and turn it on time; actually understand how it's solved and you'll do great. Curve was decent; had pneumonia half the semester and bombed tests and still got a B.
By far the best professor for Math 1B. He explains things in a great manner and is clearly passionate to teach. Tests are doable and he sometimes help with HW problems in lectures. The notes he gave are also superb.
As someone who took AP Calc AB and self studied BC, this class was easy enough as long as you keep up with notes (dont necessarily need to go to lecture) and honestly do the hw. study for the midterms and final using past exams. he talks pretty fast in class, so i recommend reading the slides before class (he posts them the day before usually)
His exams were quite different from other professors' past exams, which made studying a bit tricky, but it was still manageable to stay above the curve. Lectures were more proof-based than application-focused. Homework was simple and straightforward, and quizzes were pretty easy. As a person, Professor Gomez was super kind and funny.
He has kind of an accent but it is manageable. He takes a long time to explain concepts and explains them very poorly. Tests are kinda hard, but if you study well you should be fine.
Took him for Math1B in fall, and Math53 in spring. His ENTIRE curriculum is HW which is 6-7 problems per chapter. Following along in each chapter, going to GSI OH to understand, then practicing homework before midterms/final/quizzes will get you an easy A. But he will NOT tolerate absences during midterms or finals even if the worst happens.
Really enjoyed the profs style of lecturing, explained things thoroughly and note sheets were good. Very willing to help students with any questions. First midterm was quite simple, second was much more difficult for me. Quizzes are tough, but I think everything is decently curved.
He is one of the few professors at Berkeley that genuinely deserves a 5. Incredibly energetic, friendly, funny, and passionate. It is clear he is sincerely trying to do everything he can to help the entire class do well. Responds to every single Ed question himself thoroughly. Posts notes after each lecture, gives hints on midterms. Absolute gem.
I had him for 1B and 53, he is so sweet and funny. I personally found his lectures clear and helpful. Midterms were on the easier side this semester, with a few tricky questions but overall extremely fair imo. A lot of the exam questions were similar to HW. Gomez is super chill and awesome, he's so cute and I love him. goodbye king i'll miss u :'(
I had Professor Gomez for both Math 1B and Math 53 in the spring, and he was fantastic for both! I genuinely enjoyed going to lectures, as he was able to concisely and clearly explain material. Not to mention he has a wonderful sense of humor! Professor Gomez really wants you to succeed, being readily available for office hours and Ed Discussion.
Lectures aren't helpful—his explanations make the notes more confusing. He focuses on minor details instead of big-picture concepts. You can get by with the book and discussion. Fair tests, and he's a nice guy, just not the kind of Math 53 teacher I was hoping for.
Gomez is so good. Just focus on the textbook problems and study with the textbook and you will be fine in this class. Go to office hours to brush up on all the conceptual stuff. Midterms were so fair and his hints were helpful. Very caring professor and I wish I went to lecture more. Curve is great I got like an 80 on the final but still got the A.
Professor Gomez is an okay-lecturer; I found reading the textbook and watching other lectures on YouTube more effective. He's a sweet guy though, and all things considered, the midterms were fair. The final was more difficult, but there was a generous curve at the end. Note there was no communication about curving or grade bins at all to students.
Lectures were fast & hard to follow. I basically taught myself all the material. Lots of homework that took hours to complete. The quizzes were based on the homework. In terms of the exams, all I can say is… get ready to study! The professor himself is nice, but I would save yourself ALOT of time & take anyone else if you have that option.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. Actually ruined my winter break, my mental health, my everything. I had multiple conversations with this prof and he is just the most condescending prof at berkeley. Wait to take Paulin I beg of you.
His exams were easy and closely matched homework problems. Weekly quizzes were a pain but not the worst. Curve was reasonable--would recommend to anyone who doesn't care too much for insightful math lectures. This class is more about parameterization/describing bounds than anything--as long as you get that the entire class is straightforward.
Very nice guy but sucked at teaching and giving lectures. Homework was not very relevant to the quizzes and exams. Gave horrible midterm study guides that were not even close to the actual exam.
Do not take 16a with Prof. Gomez. His lectures are very fast and hard to understand making me have to teach all the material to myself. Gives out lots of homework that is somewhat accurate to the quiz but not even similar to the midterm. If you take this class be prepared to dedicate lots of time.
Okay lectures, but tests were very straightforward. If you do and understand the homework, you can easily get an A in this class. Decent curve as well.
The professor was a good person however I wouldn't want him teaching another one my math classes. The coursework was difficult and the course work moved very fast.
Professor Gomez really cares about his students. He is willing to do multiple office hours and hear out your concerns about the class. He is willing to help you and does multiple final review sessions. Very accessible outside of class. Lectures are good and tests are straight forward as a long as you understand the concepts.
Prof is a really nice guy, genuinely cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. For me personally, the class moved fast and even with tutoring I was always behind hence why I dropped it. However, if you have experience with calculus and pick up concepts quickly then this class is a good fit !
A very nice professor however his tests didn't correlate with the homework or the practice quizzes/midterms at all. Unless you are very quick to understand math, if you don't know any calc before taking this class don't take it.
Kind prof. Lectures didn't make much sense IMO so I just learned off the textbook. Curve is super generous, went from a 79% -> an A-. Final exam felt much harder than the course itself, but for the midterms just thoroughly work through all of the HW questions and you'll be fine! Cheat sheets (1pg) came in clutch for business application problems.
Midterms and Finals test problem solving a bit more than just straight forward application. Quizzes are straight forward depending on GSI, class can get tricky if you fall behind so use resources and stay on top of the material.
The syllabus was very clear and his grading/point distribution was very fair. His final was a bit harder than the two midterms, but he is very accessible outside of class and provides ample resources for review. His lectures are recorded and he uploads the notes after class. Very kind and endearing speaker as well!
Took calculus for the first time with him. He's very good at explaining things, gives many resources outside of lectures to get on track, posts all his materials, gives clear grading criteria that, if anything, he is more lenient about than one would expect. Also very caring, accessible and takes on challenges with grace. 10/10 professor.
Bad at teaching the material. Don't bother going to the lectures; they are worthless. His handwriting is too poor to make out on lecture notes, and he talks so fast it is impossible to follow what he is saying in lecture. Ur cooked if u didn't take calc in high school (I didn't). REFRESH URSELF ON GEOMETRY. Big class curve, my 50% curved to C+.
Be ready to teach yourself everything. He moves through the content too fast during the lecture, making it hard to follow along. Very large curve at the end of the year, though - my 50 curved to a C+.
Professor Emilio was okay overall. This was my first calculus class, so the fast pace made it easy to fall behind. I strongly recommend going to office hours or the SLC if you need help. Exams can be difficult, but quizzes are manageable depending on the GSI. He is very generous with the curve (68 → B+).
Easy midterms and final (recycled questions/similar to review). If you haven't taken calculus before his lectures are probably a bit fast paced although the discussion section helps a lot. Very generous curve.
