ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. even if you are 2 minutes late she will get mad. Not many papers to write and helpful when needed. Total of about 4/5 essays/papers all semseter. gives you plenty of time to write them not like some instructors who want a paper every class!! Take her class!!! Oh and shes pretty!!

Easy class and super fun. She actually woke me up from sleeping through my class before her. Very chill atmosphere and shes pretty hot so paying attention isnt a drag.

Mrs. Chiles is really cool, a few papers here and there. shes big on attendance, if you walk in late, she'll put you in place. if you cant get a good grade in that class thats your fault, her husband teaches english too hes super cool i've take both of them

GREAT PROFESSOR! There were 5 EASY essays and a simple powerpoint presentation, and trust me the topics were actually interesting to write about. She is very nice and helpful, she always quickly responds to all your emails. Attendance is mandatory and don't be late. sucks she's not teaching 112, b/c everyone loved her. oh and she's good looking too

Really great professor. If you show her that you want to learn, she'll help you but if you show that you don't care, she's not going to waste her time helping you. She gives you all the tools you need to succeed and get a good grade in her class, I recommend her!

Mrs. Chiles overall is pretty cool. Do you papers, and read and thats about it and attendance is necessary She's really helpful too, her husband teaches also, I had him 1st, he'll a lot more down to earth

I loved her class, her assignments are reasonable. The topics are really not that boring. Shes' an easy grader, I got A's on all of my papers and i did them the night before. Overall, you learn a lot, do a lot of work ( i took it in the summer), but its really east to get an A. :)

Ms Chiles is pretty sweet. The assignments are challenging, but not hard, and she doesn't grade them harshly as long as it's obvious that you at least tried to write a good paper. Most importantly, she's rather good looking.

Chiles is pretty friggin' sweet. She's genuinely interested in your success as a student, and as long as you put a decent amount of effort into your work and show interest in class, you're bound to get a good grade.

She makes the class interesting and explains to the students about the up coming assignments. She communicates with her students frequently and listens to them. Over all, she teaches well. She wants you to seriousness and respect fellow classmates' opinions. Take he if you want to learn and work for your grade.

I've taken Ms. Chiles for ENG 111, 112, and now for a lit class. She's amazing, hands down the best teacher I've ever had. Very clear with directions, no surprises, and makes you think about current events, the course, and the topics you're writing about. Very helpful, but doesn't take **** so don't constantly be late or cheat or something stupid like that. Definitely take her if you want to learn how to write a great essay!

This class is really easy. The syllabus says you'll be doing about 12 hours of work a week, but I honestly never spent more than 3. From the perspective of someone who only took it as a requirement to graduate, this class was ideal.

Professor Chiles is one of the most engaging and helpful teachers I have ever had the privilege of learning from. She is involved, extremely fair, incredibly knowledgeable, and passionate about her subject! Her composition class is not easy and her grading is critical but constructively so and spot on. TAKE HER CLASSES!..you won't regret it.

If you need to take this class just to get a grade and fill out a requirement. Don't take her she is an alright teacher but honestly compared to others there are better she is extremely critical about your writing and will take off points for anything.

Nice person. More than fair with grades. Does not accept late assignments. If you work hard, she'll meet you more than half way. Extra credit is only 20 points avg'd in with 1000. There's a lot of writing at the end of the semester. Would have like to have seen more comments on my papers. I made major improvements in this class.

Emily Chiles was very helpful throughout the class. I have a horrible time keeping track of my schedule especially for online classes. This class is fast paced and time consuming, so be sure that you can take it. If you want to do well in this class, put in some effort and she will meet you half way.

Professor Emily is an awesome teacher. Her assignments are all interested and well put. I work very hard for my A, she takes a long time to grade your work. She is very helpful with her feedback, she answers email , and she is always willing to help you. My advice , read all her assignments and go over your MLA rules, grammar,punctuation, etc.

This course is not an easy A. It involves many papers and discussion board posts. With that being said, Professor Chiles was incredibly helpful and very clear about her expectations for the assignments. She was a very understanding grader and provided great feedback that helped improve my skills as a writer.

The teacher is very nice and honest with you. She will tell you where you messed up, but also where you performed. She assigned two 800 word essays over the course and there was also a midterm and a final, both of which were also essays. The material is easy and if you pay attention to her criteria you'll have an A in no time.

I took a 6 week summer course online. She grades fairly easy but will not accept late work and does not give much extra credit. Plus the assignments are all worth a lot of points so if you don't do a couple or are late you won't get a good grade. I submitted everything and got an A. Overall was pretty easy. Took with 2other 8week summer classes.

Professor Chiles is a great professor. This is the second class I've taken with her because she makes things enjoyable. Don't try skipping the reading assignments though because you will get confused.

It was a lot of work to get an A in her class. She is very specific with what she wants to see in our papers but doesn't leave you lost in any way. Each lecture prepares you to write an amazing essay. She also types up individual feedback for each essay you write. Her course is aimed to improve your critical thinking. I thank her for that.

I took Professor Chiles' eight week online class and its pretty much what you'd expect regarding work load. You have to do a lot of writing but if you're a hard worker it should be no problem. As long as you show effort in your work and you meet the assignment instructions, she gives you an A. Overall I'm happy I chose her for my first ELI class.

I hate writing essays and I was surprised that I actually loved her class. She gives feedback on your work which helps in enhancing your writing skills.

Class can be boring sometimes. She has 4 major essays and discussion boards are due the beginning of class. Youll have to print out your paper (rough draft) before class or else youll receive a zero. There will be a presentation (3-5 mins) at the end about your last essay so choose your topic wisely.

Professor Chiles is a great Professor. I took her 6 wk online class, its fast paced but everything was clearly explained. If you do all assignments you will pass this class. She cares about her students, provides good feedback & answers questions quickly. She grades assignments in a timely manner. I would definitely take another class from her.

Take professor Chiles for Eng 242. Since this subject was her favorite, you can tell how involved she was in the lectures. Also, since this class met once a week there is no room to miss. A total of 10 discussion boards, 2 extra discussion boards, 1 presentation, 1 literary essay, 1 research essay, and a thesis annotated bibliography paper.

Absolutely take her!! If she's offering an honors class, TAKE IT! The essays that we had in this class were intense; however, they were never more than 1000 words!! We had assignments that made us think critically and I truly enjoyed it. I've taken quite a few English courses, and none of them have been anything like hers. She's a gem to NOVA!

Best Professor i ever had. Since I took 8-weeks class, of course, I read and write a lot. However, works are not overwhelm, just make sure that u planned time ahead. Professor Chiles is a really kind teacher. She gives good feedback on assignments and actually is very helpful if you're struggling on your writing. She makes you more comfortable and she isn't a tough grader at all.

Work in this class goes along the lines of you read 2-4 short stories a week, most short (from 5-15 pages), few of them rather long (20-40 pages but these are rare), and post 2 discussions post on it and reply to your fellow peers. That's the process every week, with a midterm, final, and one paper. The work is not hard, just don't procrastinate.

I took her Short Story course in 2020. She is such a sweet instructor, who supplies students with awesome reading samples, and engages them in conversations. She actually asks students their opinion about the readings before providing her analysis. This is a great way to help students refining their critical thinking. She is awesome!

I learned a ton in her class. She made me a much better writer. You need to put in a lot of effort into her class or you will get a bad grade. This class took a lot of my time but I am a better writer for it. The class also didn't require a textbook purchase.

Prof Chiles was originally not supposed to be my prof, but last minute my other professor dropped the class. I am so glad this situation happened though. The only downfall is always having your camera on, but other than that, her classwork is super simple and she explains the papers you are assigned pretty thoroughly. She is also extremely nice.

This was my first asynchronous class and she was as good as you can get with this type of class. Generally an easy grader but, beware, there are many papers and discussion boards. There were at least two medium writing assignments a week plus reading per week. It mostly easy to contact her via email or dm.

Professor Chile provided great feedback and motivation when grading assignments. I greatly appreciated discussions in this class because Professor Chiles leaves them open to view before you submit which helped me understand readings from other students' perspectives. LOTS of reading (use YT for visual help).

This class is easy and I improved a lot on my writing. Since I took an online course, you do have to read a lot to expand your knowledge on English, but I didn't mind it as it was expected. She has useful essay preparation assignments which make writing essays very easy and gives clear feedback. Take her if you have the chance.

Professor Chiles runs a challenging but rewarding course. Expect lots of writing assignments, but you'll become a much better writer by the end. unstuck study was a lifesaver for practice tests and writing prep.

If you do the work and put in the hours, this is an easy class. Do not use AI as she knows her stuff about that.
