Insanely boring class, powerpoint lectures every day. Way too much information, so her tests are really hard. Even if u study, you'll still make a C. She's unsympathetic to extra credit or study guides or any sort of help to get through her tests. The only good thing is no attendance policy. Even so, DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HER! It's suicide.
She is a very nice lady and definately knows what she is talking about. This class is extremely difficult though and even with studying constantly, it is still hard. Take it if your up for alot of stress.

Tests are impossible. Trying asnwering a statement with multiple choice answers. She doesn't do a good job relating lecture to the tests. Very nice lady, though!
I LOVE EMILY! I don't even have her for a class. She is just too sweet!
Her tests are difficult, but if you actually put more than 30 minutes of studying into it, you'll do fine. She gives good notes and is very helpful on tests. She's the only professor I know of that is nice enough to make re-tests for everyone. She's also a very nice person!
She is a very helpful teacher. Her test can be difficult if you do not invest time to study. Class is all lecture, but you are able to get very good notes. She is very respectful and understanding. She give re-tests if you score low and alows you to make up if you miss a test. Very very nice lady.
not a very good teacher. tests are hard and class consists of power point notes....the whole class.
Emily Rocks!! She is the most engaging and helpful teacher in the biology department. She's awesome!!!!
Parrish is really nice. Her tests aren't easy but they're not as bad as some people make them out to be.
Class wasn't bad, but the tests were just frustrating because they were unclear and often irrelevent. Studying did nothing. She's very very sweet, but lacks the confidence needed to obtain respect from students.
She's a new teacher and still learning teaching methods. Tests are representative of the notes, but are sometimes tricky and unclear. There's no role and sometimes gives extra credit. As long as you know your stuff, its an A no doubt.
Ms. Parrish is hilarious. Her class makes it worth waking up for. She gives funny examples in class and makes bio easy to understand. She has offered extra credit for both tests by simply copying down info on birth control from a book. Also very lenient on turning work in late. Take her for a fun "A"
i agree with the last comment. Ms. Parrish is hillarious and she makes class fun! She is very approachable and easy to talk to, and answers ALL of my questions. This is definitely a great class to take for the science core.
I agree, she is pretty funny, although some people dont get her humor. She is really nice, and approachable and is willing to help anyone. She tries hard to get the class involved, even though half the time nobody responds.Take her cause shes a good teacher and its an easy A and you dont have to buy the book for her class which saves you $115 bucks
Greatest Emily Parrish quote ever: "I don't understand why the people on RateMyProfessors.com say that I'm boring and not funny. I think I'm very funny."
No...the BEST Emilyism is as follows,"I have a friend, well, she isnt REALLY a friend, but I say she is to keep up appearances. She asked me about my thoughs on getting canine teeth implanted in a human mouth. That would be cool as hell, thats what I think" Take her, if you have a dry sense of humor and enjoy witty stories and an easy course in bio

Ms. Parrish is such a nice lady, but doesn't have her stuff together. The notes she gives in class are vague and hard to follow. She seems very unprepared for lectures and is always rushed. Article summaries and classwork assignments are a pain in the ass but they can help your grade. I love the woman as a person, but not so much as a teacher.

Great teacher. She make sure that the notes are in terms that you can understand which is helpful. Her assignments are pretty straight forward as long as you look over your notes every now and then. Her tests come directly from your notes too, so as long as you read over your notes once or twice a week, you'll be fine. Interesting extra credit.
Dr. Parish has the very best jokes and is always understanding of my tennis carrier. Unfortunately, she does not know how to adjust the Magnesium "said like Bachoon"!
Fun class. She is definitely a little out there, but it makes the class interesting. The homework assignments were easy, but the tests were long. The class would have been easier if I would have actually studied any. You don't really need the book for this class. She gives lots of notes to take the books place.
This lady is great! She's funny, the tests are okay if you study the notes, and she doesn't take attendence. I haven't even unwrapped my book yet- she tests from her notes only.
She is soooooo adorable. The class involves no work whatsoever, but the quizzes are pretty hard. I got an A on the midterm and still got a C in the class though.
You start the semester and she says that all you need is her notes because all her questions come from there. I don't know what notes she was looking at, but that is totally wrong. Her tests are ridiculous and this class is supposed to be easy! There are far better options out there, I say stay away from this one. I'm probably going to get a C.
Her tests come STRAIGHT from her notes. If you want to make a good grade in her class, take her notes exactly as she gives them and study. She's not too hard if you do that!
This class was pretty easy. just go to class and copy whatever she writes on the bored. just look over the notes before the test and you'll be fine. she has article assignment but they are extremely easy. i would take her if you can
She presents the information clearly and is more than willing to help you. Use the information from the board and overhead to study and you really don't need a book at all. You look up articles that will help you understand a lot especially Darwin so be serious about it. She is crazy fun so go with it and learn and have fun. I give her a A+++++.
go to class, take notes, and study study study for tests, but they will still be hard. Attendance isn't mandatory but it would prob. help to go
She teaches topics, assuming students already understand them and its a review. Doesn't explain things well enough for her own tests. She also does not write down the notes she writes on the board so she has no way of remembering what she told the class. I wouldn't take her if you aren't a biology major.
I did not enjoy the class. Only 4 grades, all exams (including the final). All of the exams were relatively difficult (unless you were good at Bio). She eased up as the semester went on but it did not help enough. She expects you to understand things naturally, instead of her explaining clearly. Book is helpful. I would not recommend the class.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!! I have never made a C in my life and she made it happen. She tells you not to give long answers on test but almost every answer she wrote that i needed more!!! Everyone's tests came back with red ink everywhere because unless you literally say word for word out of your notes she takes points off....do not take her!!
Way fun! All her tests come straight from her notes. She is very upbeat and loads of fun. She is always laughing at herself. Very clear in everything she says. You HAVE to go to class though. Usually only 1 homework assignment per chapter.
Great teacher, take all the notes and you will get an A
I really enjoyed the class. I definitely don't like biology, but she was such a good teacher that I was able to like it enough to make an A. I would take her again.
Tons of fun. Puts Harry Potter questions in her tests. Not a difficult class at all, just pay attention and you'll do fine. Don't really need the book unless you don't go to class.
Very Hard! Notes were easy, but tests were pretty hard. They are do-able though. I made either C or B on every test, and didn't study that much.
Class is not mandatory, but all of her test ?s come STRAIGHT from the notes. Know the notes and you will make an A on the test. Very nice and makes sure everyone understands before moving on. Always a few kids who ask way too many ?s but she never got mad and always took out time to make sure they got it. a few online quizes which are easy.TAKE HER
Very easy to understand lecture and gives notes. If you are serious student of Biology it is very east to get grades. I am international student and she is very clear in her lecture and helpful too. I like when she laugh and say helloooo. I suggest you to take her class.
Emily Parrish was an okay teacher, but she was not helpful at all. I went to see her right before finals so I could ask her what my grade was and she was very rude. Her tests are pretty hard, and generally come from the notes. The book was not helpful, don't buy it. The quizzes come from the notes too, but they were pretty hard too.
Extremely boring class. She speaks in an awful monotone voice and you take notes off the board every single class and she expects you to know everything already. She's rude when you try to get help. DO NOT TAKE
She is pretty cool, a little corny thats all. I recommend not to use the book because it is total crap use your notes like it a bible or something and you will do just fine in her class. However I failed my first test so I will see how the rest of my days in the class go! Pretty good so far.
She is a very nice teacher. Sometimes class can be boring, but its typically the subject matter, not her. I studied moderately for each test and always made an A. Tests are straight from the notes and are very fair and straightforward. She will teach you everything you need to know during lectures.
I loved E Parrish. Write down everything she does and you will be fine. Study your notes for the test, IT IS EXACTLY THE NOTES FROM THE BOARD. she doesn't make you take final if you already have an A. quiz every week, but pretty easy.
She is amazing!! I had Parrish for Biological Processes and Bio Diversity, and I made great grades in her class! Her tests come strictly from her notes, and so it is vital to ONLY STUDY THE NOTES FROM THE BOARD. I would highly recommend her! She's quirky, has a great attitude, and is very interesting.
Class composed of 4 exams that are very straightforward. If you take good notes (ie. write down exactly what she write on the board) then you will do well on the tests. She's very nice and will give help if needed. Don't bother getting the book, she doesn't use it. Definitely go to class of you'll miss notes!
I took her for biodiversity and all the tests come straight from lecture. Nothing comes from the book, and she'll tell you this the first day. Show up to class (if you miss get the notes from someone else) and study the notes and you'll be completely fine.
Willing to help, super nice, and tests are directly from the notes! As long as you take good notes and study 1107 is an easy class
This class was super easy. She literally writes down everything that you need for the test on the board. Also, her PowerPoints are all on GAView so if you miss class, you can just look online and find what you need to write down. She is really funny and makes the class less boring than science normally is. TAKE EMILY PARRISH!
I hate biology but I love Ms. Parrish's class. She makes it so easy to pass! My favorite part is that she uses characters from Harry Potter to make her tests (which are so easy). Literally all you have to do is take notes and study them. Don't even buy the book. Attendence isn't madatory but she doesn't post the lecture or notes online.
Class definitely catered to non-bio majors and I was extremely appreciative of that. Having to take this course to fulfill an area requirement, this was a best case scenario class. I actually learned the material but never felt like it was overbearing. Would cram the day of/ night before and do well on exams. Quizzes on D2L are straightforward.
She's DEFINITELY my favorite teacher, and if I had the opportunity to take more classes from her, I would!! Her analogies are on point.
Parrish is cool, her lectures are interesting and you can tell she is someone who is not only willing to help, but makes the information interesting, along with the cool harry potter questions on her tests.. bio is hard no questions asked, if you apply yourself, you'll not only enjoy the class but you WILL succeed.
Her tests are exactly HER notes so pay attention to what she specifically writes down on the board to go along with the powerpoint. She's so cute and helpful, loved her class!
She tells you on the first day of class that all the material on the tests and quizzes come straight from her lectures. Know that there is no mid-term or final, so your grade is only 3 or 4 tests and 4 quizzes, so make sure you study for those and don't blow them off. She seems really into what she teaches so that helps.
Such a sweet, funny lady, but won't take nonsense! I loved going to her class, but it wasn't as easy as I initially anticipated. With only three tests and a handful of quizzes, every question counts. I would definitely recommend her, just don't be fooled by how easy her lectures seem, and study! The three tests are basically your grade.
LOVED the class, and I loved her!!!! I want her for every biology class. She uses analogies that really help you understand, and her lectures are entertaining. I had her at 9:30 AM, but I was genuinely excited to go to her class even though it meant waking up early.
Emily Parrish is an excellent professor. I highly recommend taking this course. She is clear with what she wants you to know for the test. Write down everything she writes on the board because this is exactly what you will be tested over (book isn't necessary). I enjoyed her teaching style, and I would take her for another class in a heartbeat.
All of her tests are identical to her notes. If you just show up and copy what she writes on the board, you should get an A. She's very nice and funny. Almost every test has a Harry Potter reference, so it makes it more fun and less stressful.
SUPER EASY. that is, if you go to class write EVERYTHING down that she writes on the chalkboard, learn it, memorize, and then the test should be easy!!! all the online quiz questions are on quizlet so just search them and youll get a 100 or just take good notes because they are straight from there.
I took this class as a freshman. Honestly if you don't have to take it, don't. Everyone says she writes the answers on the board but that's not true at all. She goes way too fast through the material and it's hard to understand her.
There is so much material for 1107 but Prof. Parrish definitely makes it as easy as possible. Theres a lot of note taking but tests come directly from the notes; make sure you memorize the notes before the test and you will do really well. Parrish is easily my favorite professor Ive had and she made a hard class very enjoyable. Take her if you can!
So I know I am in the minority here, but I struggled more in this class than any I have before. I did not miss a class, and I did pay attention, but learned very little. Her most common phrases were "I'm skipping this" and "You should know this already." She flew through her lectures, skipped important parts, and assumed we knew more than we did.
Professor Parrish is a great professor. She is very clear on what she wants from her students. She tells you on the first day that her notes are the test. There are quizzes every week but the majority of the answers can be found via Quizlet. Also, if you have an A at the end of the semester you are exempted from the CUMULATIVE final.
Parrish is a FANTASTIC professor. All of her tests are straight from her notes. Those saying she's difficult probably did not go to class or study their notes the way they should have. She's extremely clear cut with what she expects from you. Go to class, take the notes, study them, and it is an EASY A. She's also pretty funny, so that's a plus.
Parrish is really a great professor! She's passionate about what she does and makes lectures interesting. Her tests are straightforward from her notes and the textbook is not needed, just copy down the notes she gives and this will be an easy A!
By far the best professor I've ever had. As long as you go to class and take all the notes she writes on the board and study those notes you will make an A. She is very clear about how she is going to grade and what she wants. Her tests mirror her notes and teaching style so just pay attention.
If you fail this class, you might want to reconsider your major.
This class is not an "easy A." However, if you study everything she writes on board, the term sheet, and study the quizzes, you can make an A. Attendance is very important because she has in-class worksheets every week. Be sure to study the powerpoint figures and board drawings because a lot of questions on tests come from those.
Dr. Parrish is my favorite Biology professor I've had so far. She makes lectures fun and interesting. I never used the textbook, and the tests came from the notes. online quizzes were very easy and can be found on Quizlet. We had 4 tests and if you had an A in the class at the end of the semester, she let you exempt the final. Great professor!
Professor Parrish makes a difficult class enjoyable. You have to come to class because her tests are straight from the notes. Never touched the textbook. She's hilarious too!
She tried really hard to make the class easy to understand and genuinely interesting. She cares a lot and is a fun and quirky teacher. Start studying every day and you will pass the tests, they are very straightforward. Don't miss quizzes.
Good teacher, just doesn't provide good information.
Professor Parrish is a very sweet lady but because you are graded on such few things if you do poorly on something its hard to bring your grade up.
Ms. Parrish is honestly a real gem- super nice and very accessible outside of class. The only thing is she covers A LOT of material in a short amount of time and quickly, so it's sometimes hard to keep up with her lectures. As long as you go to class and study, you won't fail.
Ms. Parrish provides great lectures; they are straightforward and all the information is useful for her tests. If you are not a fast writer, use a laptop, it is much easier to organize the heaps of information. Bring a notebook to draw diagrams. People get too caught up writing things down and miss important oral information. 10/10 recommend!
Shes awesome! Take her class!
Mrs. Parrish is an awesome professor! If you have to take a class that she teaches, take her. She's funny and gives you all the information you need to do well on the test. Just write down everything she does and study it. Remember to take all the quizzes because sometimes she doesn't remind you.
Professor Parrish is a really cool lady. I hate science, but looked forward to going to her class because she is so hilarious. Her notes are her tests, although it is important to be there for the lecture to really understand (a lot of abbreviations). I did not do well in this class, but that was my own fault. Dr. Parrish is awesome!
Parrish is awesome! Her tests come straight from the notes she gives in class, so don't miss class and you'll do great. I bought the textbook and didn't use it. The textbook is more complex than needed.
One of the best teachers I've had at gcsu! if you have the chance to take her, definitely do!!
Dr. Parrish is great. She writes everything she says in her lectures on the board for you to copy & then tests verbatim from those notes. You take a quiz online with notes for every section, have a couple tests with plenty of notice. If you come to class, youll do fine. She tells great stories, & explains things very well! Taking her again!
I LOVE Dr. Parrish, she is amazing! She writes everything you need to know on the board during her lectures, and the tests come straight from those notes. She is for sure one of the smartest people I've ever met. Parrish cares about her students, and wants you to succeed. I am taking her again next semester, she is great!
I loved Ms. Parrish! Her online quizzes and test are easy if you take notes in class. The reason I got a B was because of how poorly I did on our last test. Though she gives no extra credit, she knows her stuff and knows how to teach it. Would definitely take her again!
By far my favorite professor while being at Georgia College. Her test and online quizzes questions are pulled directly from the notes she gives you during class. I showed up to class very rarely and recieved a high C. I know if I would have put in more effort and actually showed up to class, having an A would have been very possible! Best teacher!!
Loved Parrish! Teaches with PP, but handwrites what she wants you to know - if she writes it down, you WILL be expected to know it for exam. She doesn't test on any other material, so take notes/get from a friend. No textbook req. Very understanding; she usually adds a couple bonus points onto exam grades. If you study, you will def do well!
Loved this Class. Parrish is an awesome professor. Im usually not good at science and ended the semester with an A. Its all about the work you put in studying. Your grade comes from you quizzes and tests, which are straight from the notes you take every day during class. Going to class helps and listening helps you memorize the info.
I loved having her as a professor. Everything she says/writes in class will for sure be on the test, so if you pay attention, copy everything and study that information, youll get an A.
Dr. Parrish tries to make class enjoyable, so go to class because her notes are literally her exams. If you don't understand a system, look it up on crash course and watch the video. Also, PS you will 100% focus more if you sit more towards the front. I learned that the hard way.
best professor ever. she is funny and her tests are literally her notes. just sit in the front, go to class, write everything down and you will get an A.
10/10 recommend Emily Parrish. Definitely go to class because she doesn't use a book, so the tests come from straight from her lecture. Her tests were pretty easy if you studied. I would definitely take her again.
Parrish is my favorite professor I have ever had at gcsu! I have taken her twice, and she's amazing. She writes all her notes on the board, and if you study those, you'll do well! She also truly cares about her students, and will tell the best stories. I love Parrish!
Lecture is hard to concentrate in. Only graded for quizzes and test. Test are very long and hard to follow. No matter how hard I studied and went to every class, this has been the worst class I have ever taken. Take note because you have no text book or power points with notes to look back on.
Had her for bio processes and diversity. Her class is lecture heavy, BUT if you take the exact notes she writes on the board and study them, you will do well. The test is literally the notes she gives. You will have to study for the test, but it is not hard to make an A on them. Plus, she normally gives points back for common missed questions.
Professor Parrish is extremely funny and knows what she is talking about. You definitely get thrown a lot of information, but everything on the test is exactly what she says during the lectures. A good class to take and relatively easy as long as you show up to class. Definitely recommend for Biological Processes!
I absolutely LOVE Dr. Parrish. I took her for both Biological Processes and Biodiversity. There is truly no better professor for these courses than her. You need to attend class to take notes from lectures, and the tests are straight from the lecture. Pay attention, take notes. She is very accessible outside of class and so funny.
She is super nice and funny. I always really enjoyed her sense of humour. What she writes on the board will be on the test. Write what she writes and study it. There are some online quizzes, but all the answers are on quizlet so easy A on those. However, the exams, she made her own. Memorize the notes, and you'll be fine. She's a Harry Potter fan.
Emily Parrish is super sweet and a great lecturer. she makes sure you write down everything she says. All of her tests are exactly what she says, so if you study your notes from the lecture you will do just fine!
I felt at a disadvantage this year since she wasn't writing much down due to the COVID classroom change. I had to write so fast to get what she was saying. If you miss one thing she says, then you could get that wrong on the test. Each test is really important because one bad test grade brought me down a letter grade. The quizzes were fairly simple
Emily Parrish is easily one of the best teachers I've had. I've never worked harder for a class but she made it so interesting that I was willing to put in the work. Her tests and quizzes are her lectures so if you don't go to class you will not do well. I recommend recording her lectures and going back to take better notes. This is how I got an A!
Parrish doesn't test over untaught material. Quizzes are open note, therefore it's in your best interest to show up - not to mention that all tests are practically verbatim of her lectures. If you don't come to class or put forth any effort in studying, you'll end with a B.
Professor Parrish was amazing. I had her in Russell Auditorium so sometimes it was a little difficult to keep up with what she was saying as she couldn't use a whiteboard. Her tests are super straight forward. Just take good notes and study them. You have 4 tests and a little online quiz after every chapter.
Parrish is a great professor! Science has never been my thing but I really enjoyed this class. The information is difficult sometimes but if you take clear notes, watch YouTube videos on concepts that are difficult to you, and study for the tests you should do fine. Parrish was really straightforward and made lectures interesting!
Dr. Parrish was by far the best professor I have had at GCSU! Her tests come straight from the notes and she doesn't use a textbook. As long as you go to class and take good notes you will be fine! She goes pretty fast in the lectures so just make sure you pay attention. I would absolutely take Dr. Parrish again!
Great for biological processes! If you show up to class and take notes, you will pass. Her tests come from straight from her lectures word for word. I took notes and then studied those and did fine. I didnt study much for one test and didnt do as well, so make sure to study your notes! No homework, some online quizzes, but not hard. Take her!!!!
Loved this class so much!! I took her for biological processes. Anything said during the lecture will be on the in-person exams, which are all multiple choice. Quizzes were online and multiple-choice as well. No textbook was required and the material is rather straightforward as long as you take notes and pay attention in class.
This is a class you definitely have to study for, as for any bio class. But Professor Parrish made it easy. The tests are straight out of the notes and very straight-forward. As long as you take notes and study for the tests you will get a good grade. Also her lectures are super interesting and she doesn't ramble on in a boring way.
Teaches word for word from the textbook and if you take good notes in class you will do fine, but the way she presents it is sometimes confusing. She doesn't give much context with her lectures and just reads off the information. She's also a low talker so its difficult to hear her a lot of the time and she talks super fast so it's hard to keep up.
Prof. Parrish is a great professor but if you do not put in time outside of class, you will not do good. Your grade will be coming from the exams she gives you. Make sure you study hard or you will not do well. They are easy concepts but it is a lot of information to remember when it comes to test time.
She is super cool! Most of the learning comes from power points, but she tries to make it fun with stories and stuff. You definitely want to attend class so you can take notes. If you have good notes and study, youll be fine. Shell remind you when quizzes and exams are coming up, so youll have plenty of time to study.
She is super funny and entertaining, but the class is quite difficult. If you want to do well you NEED to study.
Professor Parrish is a great professor & I highly recommend taking her for bio. The tests come from the notes & the weekly quizzes. The content is not insanely difficult, but it is a lot of studying since the test covers multiple units. As long as you work hard, you will do good! If you end with an A in the class, you get to exempt the final :)
She is definitely a character. I have enjoyed her class and the stories she tells will make you laugh. Make sure to pay attention and take notes on everything she writes on the whiteboard.... it will be on the test. She will not round your grade if it is like ## .6 so put time into studying, it will be worth it. There are quizlets of her notes.
Parrish is great! All of the content is lecture, but she writes down notes on the board during lecture. As long as you go to class, you will understand the content very well. The tests and quizzes are all only based on her lectures too. The tests are a lot of info, but if you take notes, it's easy to study for. Great professor.
Parrish is a really great professor, but this class wasn't the easiest. There were very few graded assignments and the ones that were graded were weighed heavy. She is a great professor though and is super nice. The labs themselves aren't graded, so she doesn't care too much about mistakes. She explains everything very well.
I would avoid at all costs. Lectures were mind numbingly boring to the point where I could not focus. She has online quizzes due at 10:30 as opposed to 11:59 like every other professor known to mankind. She does not give help, she responds to emails very late if at all. If it wasn't for the SI sending out quizlets, nobody on earth would pass.
Parrish does not use the openstax text at all. She doesn't provide alternative text or notes based on her lectures. She is difficult to understand if you're not science minded. Only grades are 4 mc tests. If you don't have and understand lecture notes you wont be able to pass. Rarely replies to emails. Best way to communicate is in her office.
Ms. Parrish is awesome! These bad reviews are from freshman who do not know how to study! I can not recommend her enough. She is hilarious and truly cares for her students. You have to study for any class in college that is a given. Her tests are very lecture heavy, but if you just attend class and write everything on the board you will do fine.
She is one of the sweetest professors ever. There are only 4 tests that your grade is weighted on... make sure to study hard for those. Attendance is not required but you need to show up if you want to take good notes. The tests are very straightforward if you study your notes and copy down what she writes. She is very understanding and sweet. :)
The only reason why I would give Professor Parrish a difficult score if because she only has tests in the grading system. I have test anxiety so that made my grade drop. She only had 4 tests in my class and I did bad on one which dropped my grade to a C. The rest of my tests were B's and A's but I remained at a C
100% recommend her for any biology class. Take the notes and study them, you will do just fine. She doesn't try to trick you, its everything out of class.
Lectures by writing notes on the white board of exactly what you should know. Tests are mostly application-based, so you WILL need to study terms well. Passionate about the topics, making students engaged in class. Strict about attendance on test days, and won't give extra credit (u shouldn't need it anyways). Fav bio teacher I've ever had! 10/10
Absolutely loved Parrish. If you write down absolutely EVERYTHING she writes on the board and study it, you will get an easy A. She is very sweet and tries to work with you if you really need it. Highly recommend. 100% would take again.
Loveeee Mrs Parrish for my class. Quizzes are so easy and the test are hard but their only like three chapters each not cumulative. Lectures are quick and easy to understand.
Dr. Parrish is an absolutely amazing teacher and you can tell that she truly cares about her students and their success. The quizzes are very easy and if you put in the work, the tests are easy too.
I am NOT a science person, I have always been SO bad at science, but Perrish was amazing. She taught with the understanding that a lot of us are not at all good at interested or good at science. She did the work with us and she was also very funny. If you're bad at science like me, take her because she'll say it in a way you understand.
Professor Parrish was super sweet and funny and I really enjoyed her as a person. There are only four tests in the class I was in however along with some quizzes and they are pretty difficult. Make sure you have organized notes and go to SI sessions. There were some times her explanations were a little hard to understand but overall she was great!
Her tests come straight from the notes she gives in lecture. She doesn't offer extra credit, but you shouldn't need it anyway. You have the ability to make a high A on every exam, you just have to study! She is very funny in class, and the stories she tells are hilarious. This class can be very easy to you, or you can make it hard by not studying.
Dr. Parrish was a great lecturer for Biol 3400! She was very knowledgable and gave all the information you would need in class. She made it easy to keep up with her while note taking which was really nice. The only difficult part were the exams. There were a lot of fill and the blank and short answers, so you need to be fully prepared to do well
Im praying that she goes over this review at the beginning of the semester so that this review can be a sincere warning to drop the class ASAP. This is a teacher who is awful at lecturing. She just word vomits information and in no way teaches it. I had her for Biological Processes. If you aren't good at biology, drop immediately.
Hey Ms Parrish if you're reading this! She is a really good professor and knows what she is talking about. She writes what you need to know on the board, so I would suggest going to class even though it isn't mandatory. There are quizzes for each chapter and 4 tests 10/10 suggest her if Bio isn't your strongest subject!
Professor Parrish was a great professor but extremely lecture heavy. She only has 4 main tests and a few quizzes which were hard in my opinion. She does write everything on the board but goes so fast that you barely learn anything. Overall it wasn't too bad of a class but be prepared for heavy lectures and make sure you go to every class!!
One of the best professors at this institute. Her lectures are great, and she has a very joyful personality. She is very engaged in her subject, and is a pleasure to listen to.
I hope Dr. Parrish reads this review on the first day of class. Super nice and funny professor, but the class isn't very structured and exams make up 84% of your grade, so if you aren't a great test taker or need organization in your life, this probably isn't the best professor for you. Her lectures are boring but she makes up for it with her jokes
Professor Parrish is the best. Had her for biology lecture & she has great, interesting lectures. The quizzes are all online and open note. She gives bonus points on almost every test.
Professor Parrish is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She writes all of the information you need to know on the board, so as long as you take proper notes and study them you will be fine. She is so funny and truly cares about her students and their success. If you put in effort to come to class and study, this class will be a breeze.
She was very nice and knew a lot of information about what she taught. You can definitely tell she loves what she teaches, my only complaint is I thought her test were always worded difficult for me to comprehend.
She's really nice and if you don't do well in her class then it's on you since she provides all the notes in class. Be ready to take notes for like 30-40 minutes every class that's not a test. You will start the next unit as soon as you finish the previous one, no waiting to review for the test. Tests are easy if you take the notes and study them.
This has been the most stressful class I've ever taken. I would go to class and take notes like everyone says and spend hours studying to still fail every test. I hired a tutor and even studied with classmates. On the first day she goes through her RMP to make it seem fine, but stay away from this class. No idea how her reviews are so high.
Loved Professor Parrish. She was very funny and made lectures very interesting. This class is test-heavy (about 9-10 tests), but it wasn't bad at all. She also writes all necessary notes on the board for you to write down. I would recommend going to SI sessions for this class if biology isn't your forte.
I personally love this professor. She is clear on what you need to know for tests and quizzes. She memorizes every lecture and writes it with you on the board which impressive and you can tell she just knows what she is talking about.
Amazing Professor. She is very well educated in what she teaches. At the beginning of the semester she showed us all the bad reviews, I was scared but I can say that there is nothing to be scared about. She's actually the sweetest professo. I am taking her next semester as well because she is good at what she does and has helped me alot.
Professor Parrish is an engaging lecturer. If you take thorough notes and use resources like unstuckstudy along with the textbook, you can do well despite the fast pace. Overall, a rewarding class.
Great professor, engaging in lectures, and is funny. She writes everything for the quizzes and exams on the board, so if you take good notes, you'll be fine. Studying is a must to get a good grade in the class. The SI sessions and office hours help a lot.
Class isn't mandatory. Her lectures consist of her writing notes on the board and you copying down word-for-word what she says. Her tests are hard, so study in advance. She is funny, but lectures are boring and a lot.
She is awesome. She writes all of her notes out on the whiteboard, so you have to come to class. There are open note quizzes and exams that are basically the notes. She reads her rate my professor at the beginning of the semester, hi everyone, and it shows you how cool she is. I loved this class so much, she is hands down best bio teacher here.
I would not retake this course because it weighed too heavily in exams. She doesn't create a good environment to ask questions and doesn't offer any support when students attempt to reach out. Her PowerPoint has no information on it and she says to focus on the lecture but she shortens a lot of words and they don't make sense when you study.
Professor Parrish is a wonderful professor, she has a very lecture-heavy teaching style but she makes it engaging and funny. As long as you show up to class and take notes it's not bad.
Professor Parrish is a really good teacher. For her lectures, she handwrites everything on the board for you to take notes from, then makes the quizzes and tests directly from those notes. It is super easy to study for and her tests really aren't that difficult. You can tell she really knows what she is teaching. Definitely would take again.
A lot of people say Parrish is a bad teacher but they're wrong. She gives you all of the notes that are exactly what the test is about. If you fail then you probably didn't try hard enough when studying. All of the quizzes are online too. Biology anything is not going to be easy and she also gives credit back on your tests when needed.
honestly professor parrish knows what she's talking about, she's funny and nice. however, her class setup just didn't work well with how i learn. it's just straight lecture for the entire class. its hard to ask questions in real time. the tests are most heavily weighted. its just not the way i can learn effectively but if you can i'd recommend her.
Prof Parrish is a great lecturer. She gives you everything you need to know for the test in the notes. You really just need to study and review your notes after each lecture, had I studied a bit more I would've done way better. Would take again
Professor Parrish is a great teacher and tries to keep the class upbeat. Attending class is necessary to understand content. She tried to make everything as easy and simple as possible, but it was very quiz and test heavy. I am not a bio person and probably have a C in the class, but Parrish is a good professor and lecturer.
I honestly really loved Prof Parrish's class. Everyone always complained about how hard it was, but that was truly a fault of their own because I had no problem succeeding in her class. She's so funny and explains the material in a really easy way to digest. I'm bad at bio and got A's on everything. Actually study your notes and you'll succeed.
Prof Parrish was amazing. I could not recommend her enough. She's super entertaining and easy to understand as long as you pay attention but she keeps you engaged. Her class is lecture heavy but attendance isn't mandatory. You have to be there or get notes from a friend if you want to do well in class. The tests are the main part of your grade.
I loved Dr. Parrish's class! She is so funny & her lectures are straight to the point. You do not learn anything you do not need to know. The people who poorly rated her did not go to class or apply themselves outside of it. She is lecture heavy so obviously you need to study to refresh your memory. There are 6-7 tests & quizzes for each chapter.
Professor Parrish is the absolute best! Every exam is exactly what the notes have in them. She also writes the notes out with you on the board, so you know exactly what you need to study. I never made below an A on an exam because every exam is so fair and all multiple choice! Easy A if you study your notes and know them WORD FOR WORD.(Bio1102same)
Ms. Parrish has been the best, most enjoyable professor I have taken since coming to college. She is sweet, hilarious, and clear in her lectures. Whatever she writes, write it. That is the key to making an A in this course. I also recommend going to the learning center more than I recommend the SI but that's just me. I would 100% take her again.
Emily Parrish is one of the best professors, she is lecture heavy in class, but she keeps it interesting. I recommend attending every class and copying everything she writes down on the board. As long as you study the notes and can apply what is learned in class, you should do really well in her class.
She is AWESOME! attendance isn't mandatory but you should go to class because the ppts she posts online won't help you, they are mostly pictures with a little info. she writes everything on the board which is cool and shows she knows what she's talking about. study for the tests and you will do great!
professor Parrish is amazing! attendance isn't mandatory but i would definitely recommend going because the tests is directly from what she writes on the board, and the powerpoints online won't help. she definitely knows what she is talking about! but her lectures can be boring. super easy class!
Parrish is good, she lectures all class and after each chapter you take a quiz announced IN class and she will NOT reopen them so do not miss it. 4 tests over 2-4 chapters each. overall fine, you just need to study and take good notes. if you miss class, you miss notes so its better to just go. quizlet was my bsf in this course.
Hi future classes! I took EP for Bio Processes and Biodiversity. Professor Parrish is genuinely one of the best professors at GC. She is so funny and truly has a passion for Biology. Her tests are very straightforward. Take notes and review, and I promise you will make an A.
This was my second semester taking Parrish and I really do love her as a professor. If you can get her, TAKE HER!! She does give lectures, make sure you copy down everything she writes and relook over what you learned after class. Trust me it will save you for exams. Her exams are exactly like her lectures so if you know that you will be fine!
By far my favorite professor in college! She has minimal slides on the screen and elaborates by writing down content on the board. I wrote a ton of notes for this class but she makes it really clear what you need to know for the test and what you don't which made studying super easy. Don't miss class though or you'll miss all the information!
Emily Parrish is AMAZING. I could not imagine taking either Biological Processes or Biodiversity with anyone else. Truly, just take your notes and show up, the tests will pass themselves!!! She is amazing at getting in touch, being transparent about grades, and is so hilarious. I love love love her.
the BEST professor i've had so far. notes are only written on the chalkboard in class, so you have to take them then and there! study them, know your terms and the tests will be super chill. really sweet lady, precious, just a real human being which i appreciate her authenticity
this is the easiest class ive taken in college. dr parrish makes it easy, attendance isnt mandatory but if you want to do well, then go. her tests are based completely on the notes she gives in class. if you take notes in class and study them for one hour before the test its almost a guaranteed A. As a professor shes very laid back and funny.
She teaches by writing on the board that you copy. Everything she says will be on the test. You cannot miss her class because she does not use PowerPoint presentations that tell you what you missed. You will do an online open-note quiz once a week as homework. No midterm or final, just 4 exams for the whole class semester.
So I took this class this semester and It's not that hard but a few things, you don't have to buy the textbook which is nice but you must go to every class or you can legit miss 25% of test questions The only reason I wouldn't give a super high score is just because I feel like sometimes her test questions were tricky her personality is great tho
