Professor Porter is hands down the best professors I have ever had. She truly cares for her students and she's extremely fair with grades. If given the opportunity to take a class with her again I would in a heart beat. Her love for teaching, the environment, and especially her students is so heart warming. She's truly an amazing professor!

We learned so much about the environment this semester. We had fun labs and activities plus she took us on field trips. I am already signed up to take another class with her next semester!

Professor Porter has been one of the greatest teachers I've yet to have! She's such a genuine and inspirational professor. I would highly recommend her class because she truly teaches from her heart and not out of a book. We went on field trips during the semester and it was great! Professor Porter is an amazing instructor, and an even more wonderful person! She has mandatory attendance, so don't be late more than 1 minute (seriously!) as this is critical to receiving a good grade. The tests require light-medium studying, as it really just requires you to pay attention, take copious notes and READ THE MATERIAL!

Professor Porter quickly became one of my favorite professors I've had. She is without a doubt the most caring professor I know and really comes to care about educating her students as well as caring for them as individuals. Super awesome teacher! She is a little odd, but the class is super easy. You only have two test and like 3 quizzes online and they are super easy too. Common sense class! Go on field trips and you learn a lot from her! I am actually going a little "green" because of her! I took her intro to environmental class.

Okay, so if you are wondering if you want to take this class, i have the answer for you. Professor Porter is one of the best, in my opinion of course, teacher that i have had. She does make you work for your grade but it is all worth it. She is awesome and i recommend that everyone take her class. You would miss out on a lo, not taking this class.

Professor Porter was an AWESOME teacher. Before her class I had no interest in our local environment, but with her field trips she opens your eyes to the importance of ecosystems around us. She is a fair grader especially if you put in the effort, GREAT field trip guide and makes the overall class experience FUN!!!

Shes honestly the best professor! I took her for environmental science, a class that should be mandatory because you learn so much from it but enjoy it at the same time. I knew every single of my classmates names and a little about them. I feel like more than a class room full of students we were like a small family, thanks to professor Porter!

Easy A, but lota work. She is great but a little too enthusiastic about her job. Took 4 field trips away from campus. In class she goes over boring powerpoints and watch videos that relate to that topic. We had two 4+ page field trip reports and two class presentations on animals and SWFL ecosystems. Was fun but im not outdoorsy or like presenting.

She's a wonderful professor, really cares about her students. Overall the class is fun to learn about but it is very long for about 4 hours. You need the book. 3 exams and a few quizzes online. There are field trips and you need to carpool with your classmates. Powerpoint lectures are long asf and she goes fast. Forget about writing down notes.

I loved Professor Porter. Classes last forever but always end with something really fun to do with a group. She is a really sweet professor with a really soothing voice so dont go into class tired because you may fall asleep. Field trips are also fun to go on too! I definitely would recommend her.

I am not a great online class student but Professor Porter made it really easy for me. She did not require us to use Proctorio which was an extra added perk. she was always their when I needed help. Take her class if you are new to online.

Homework is dynamic study modules so you can get an easy 100% there. Midterm and Final are rough, but you have discussion posts and several extra credit opportunities. The discussion posts are the assignments you want to do well on. She hosts zoom meetings for midterm/final reviews, which are tough and make sure you study for them. There are other study materials you may follow to pass the course, also need to buy the textbook. Do well on the assignment and try your best and you'll do well.

Probably one of the nicest professors I have had throughout my college career. Very interesting lectures as well as a unique teaching style in the classroom. Multiple trips during the course and a few group labs throughout the semester, 10/10 would take again.

Professor Porter has been by far my favorite instructor. She is a bit test-heavy, but she allows for extra credit by showing up to her zoom calls and offers 10 points extra for sharing something you learned on the midterm. She is very sweet, and she really cares for her students. She actually made me want to go into oceanography, she's that good.

I took oceanography as a summer mini A so it was a lot of work condensed but she made it easy to keep up with. Porter has consistently went above and beyond caring for her students. She wants to see you succeed and will help you help yourself the best she can. You have to do work but she tries to make it less intimidating. Highly recommend!

Took a mini summer class so it was pretty condensed, would have been pretty easy as a full course. The writing assignments are time consuming, you will get full points if you write lengthy responses. Strict about proctored tests. Final was random questions about details that weren't on the study guide. Bombed the final! Still got an A

Professor Porter was the best professor. easy to understand instructions, it was a writing-intensive course but the professor made it very smooth, you can earn extra credit too. I will be taking another course from her in the fall of 2022 which is oceanography. She also responds quickly, even during weekends!!

I took this class in the Fall of 2022 and Professor Porter could not have been MORE understanding for students when Hurricane Ian barreled through Southwest Florida. With each module, she provided a video explaining the upcoming chapter and assignments as opposed to just writing a long novel. In her courses, she shows true passion for all topics.

Professor Porter was a sweet, kind, and caring professor. I took her Environmental Science class during the Fall 2022 semester and was taking her class through Hurricane Ian. She was very understanding and accommodating throughout the entire ordeal. Her classwork was simple. There were 2-3 simple assignments a week due on Sundays. I recommend her!

Almost every assignment was in MyLab Mastering and you couldn't redo questions if you got them wrong. She's a little bit of a tough grader on exploration activities but as long as you write a lot (like she asks) then you'll do well. She's super nice and understands that life happens and will give you at least some credit. Can tell she knows a lot.

Professor Porter is the best. She gives wonderful feedback on discussion post. The final and the midterm are worth a total of 30% of your grade, but she offers review sessions. If you miss the review it is hard to pass the test, but if you go to the review it is easy.

Professor Porter is everything you want in a professor and more. She goes above and beyond most professors doing online coursework to make sure her students achieve greatness in her class. Her class was very informational, too, as I am not pursuing a STEM-related field, but every lesson was always interesting. She is the best.

No late work for God or Money, but otherwise incredible. One long paper on a documentary, otherwise small discussion posts every couple weeks. Fantastic test prep sessions! Tests are on-campus so nobody has to deal with the horrors of Proctorio. Final and midterm are multiple-choice scantrons, and if you go to the prep sessions, you'll pass.

She is always willing to help students succeed. As long as instructions are followed and students put in their own effort, then they will succeed in this course.

A M A Z I N G ! I love this professor and course so much. If you're not a STEM major, take this course. Sure there's a zero policy for late work but if you give a care for your grades then you'll be fine. Midterm and Final are so easy, got an A (and I hate tests). Can't wait to take her again soon!

She is a caring and great professor. The work was easy, and she was accommodating. She gave us many ways to study the material and was a great teacher overall! The only problem I had was the site she used to proctor our exams was horrible, but it still was a great class.

Professor Porter si helpful and nice. I like taking online courses but online testing can be a hassle. She gives us options for taking the exams, online or in person, so I am taking my tests on campus this semester. She gives a great exam review so I am doing really well in her course. I highly recommend taking this option and her as a teacher.

Prof. Porter was amazing! Though it is just a simple online class, she is too nice and very connected to her students. Her zoom meetings (about 3 the semester) are a must. Most importantly, she gives the BEST feedback on assignments and truly helped my grade.

Great professor to take to complete your Natural Science courses requirement. Provides feedback on each assignment/discussion and provides opportunity for extra credit throughout the semester. However, your final grade will solely be based on the midterm and final exams, so make sure to study!

This class was honestly pretty fun; we got to go on three field trips and a bunch of group activities. She showed us three movies that changed my perspective -for the better- on environmental activism and ecology. Participation is HIGHLY important - your grade will drop if you miss one class. Really recommend prof Porter! There are about 4 discussions total, quiz and lab activity every week, midterm and final. Zoom sessions to study for the midterm/ final. Goes the extra mile for students and provides various test location options. Easy A if you put in the work and attend the live study sessions for the tests.

Great professor! Highly recomend! Mini summer courses move fast but she gives us tools to succeed. She worked with me inZoom to make sure I did not have problems during the exams using honor lock. Honestly great professor. Really cares about the students learning about the material. Is very acessable outside class. Gives extra credit if you go to campus to do tests. Just ensure you read the requirements and you will do fine.

Her online class is easy. She provides a lot of extra credit just for attending the exam reviews or taking your test in the testing room in the H building. She is picky about how your camera is set up for the exams. I had to take the practice Proctorio exam 3 times, but overall, it's an easy class. Also, please study and use Quizlet.

Professor Porter is the best Professor in FSW because she genuinely cares and puts in extra effort so students can understand the material. Midterm and final review for extra credit.
