Ms. Smyth is an awesome teacher and definitely knows the material well. She put in the extra effort to help me pass the course after I started flailing. This was my second time around so I am very grateful. I highly recommend her!

Ms. Smyth is a great teacher. She will explain something 100 times if that is what it takes. She really wants all her students to do well and gives everyone a fair opportunity to do well. She gives study guides and tries to make math interesting.

I was terrified of math and I somehow managed to work out an A. She was very patient in helping.

Ms. Smyth is extremely nice. Whenever you need extra help she is able to help you outside of class. She posts all of her notes up online and her tests are straight to the point, usually 15 questions, she tells you exactly what you'll need to know too. I recommend not buying the book, the course compass disc comes with an online copy of it.

Best teacher at CFCC, hands down. I've never been any good in math and have always received terrible grades in all other math classes, but Ms. Smyth is amazing!! I ended up with an A in her class, and I wasn't killing myself to do it either. TAKE HER CLASS!! you won't regret it

Ms. Smyth was SOOOO helpful! I wasn't clear on a lot of the work, but she helped me the WHOLE way. Very eager to make sure everyone understood everything by having helpful review days. I liked her style of teaching & even the way she took notes. Take her! She's not an "easy A" but she makes Precal an easy A!

Ms. Smyth is a cool teacher, i love her! she's hott to which makes class more fun lol..All her notes are always online so whether you missed class or something it doesnt matter b/c you can just copy her notes offline..Plus if you're tired to come to her class that time she even lets you come to any of her other MAT 171 classes!! her test are easy!!

She is an awesome teacher. Her teaching style takes you step by step all the way. It's okay to ask questions, she invites you to do so. Now, she doesn't hand out an easy A. You will have to take notes, do homework, and study. She rocks!

Ms. Smyth is a good teacher who truly wants her students to pass! She will help you out as much as she can to keep you from failing. You will have to study hard but her tests aren't too bad. She's really sweet but she can't stand when her students are late, use their cell phones, or talk during class.

Smyth is super clear, to the point where youre ready to actually move on. Homework or two every class night, tests are difficult to transition to after all the online work. She is eager to answer any Qs and help after class. I have spent the whole semester on my phone (as well as many other students). No need to take notes, all online. Do the HW.

This professor isn't easy! You have a ton of homework on top of quizzes and supplemental assignments due every week. It's hard to get any topic down because of how fast paced she is in class. Her tests are not the worst, but she grades hard. This is definitely not an easy A.

Mrs. Smyth is great! She is so helpful! I am not good at math and for the first time in my life I actually understand this junk. She makes you work for it, but I am actually understanding it and doing well. I think she is very fair and passionate about her job. She really wants all of her students to do well.

Phew! Summer classes are rough. That said Mrs. Smyth is the best math teacher I've ever had. She color codes her notes which makes studying so much easier. You do a good amount of homework... but this is the first A in a math class I've gotten EVER. I highly recommend her.

I hate math and this class is hard. Ms. Stein is super helpful. She is always available after class or in her office for clarification. I'm not sure what that other comment was about. I do not think she is sarcastic at all. I think she tries to make math as fun as she can. She always asks if there are questions. Plus she offered extra credit 3x.

Great Teacher. Tough class if you aren't good at Math. She explains things clearly and she attempts to do it better than how the book explains it. Assignments are fairly easy, I used "Help me solve this!" feature for the HW often. Tests are fairly easy... So long as you study the material and do the assignments you will pass.

This class is hard if you are not good at math. She is 100% there for you and always talks about how no one visits her in her office, go visit her!! She will help you with any questions (even on the labs). She breaks down everything step by step and posts practice exams online for the exams. Grades on a 10 point scale if you miss 3 or less days.

You do not need the textbook for this course, but the online code is essential - without it you cannot take the class. The homework and quizzes are online which bumps up your grade. You have to study for the test or else you fail! The tests make up more than half of your grade.

I took her course online but when needed help with a question she was there and sat down to explain what i was asking. Tests aren't hard if doing all modules and paying attention.

I finally understand Math! Shes nice and helpful. If you print the notes before class and do the homework you will do fine. Don't be a slcker!

Mrs. Stein is fabulous. If you go to her office she will help you when you are struggling. Spend the time and do your homework and the study guides and you will be fine.

If you don't do your work, you won't pass. The tests are basically straight off the study guides, and the quizzes are all online. Go to her office. She's always welcoming and helpful. This was not an easy grade for me as I've always struggled in math, but Mrs. Stein has been super helpful. I plan to take her class next semester for MAT 172.

Great teacher, had her 2 years ago. Now I I'm moving on to uni. and I will no longer get to see her smokin hot self. My god, woman entices me to take off this ring. I'd trade my 4.0 for this woman. Seriously though, she's a great teacher, take her if you can. Emily Stein: The one that got away.

She was a good teacher but goes through notes really fast. I would defiantly suggest showing up to class in order to get a good grade. She offers extra credit if you aren't doing that well and will extend homework assignments if needed. She is some what clear at explaining but I mainly had to learn the material on my own.

Mrs. Stein is a great math teacher!!She knows how to explain concepts well and takes time to make sure the entire class understand a topic before she moves on. Although there is frequent homework and quizzes to complete online, there is plenty of time to do it in advance. Sweetest lady ever to!!

I HATE math and I still do but she made it better, notes are super easy and homework is easy, I'm a crapy test taker, that was my down fall, if I did bad on a quiz/homework I could go to her office and tell her and she would work with me. If you miss only 3 days she grades you on a 10 point scale

Math is not my thing, and I definitely struggled in this class when I took it back in 2016. However, Professor Stein is extremely helpful and really works with you so you can understand it. I went to her office hours almost daily and she was very helpful. She also gives out extra credit, which is nice. Hard class, but good professor.

Ms. Stein is a great teacher and very communicative. She is clear when teaching, welcomes questions, and is more than happy to answer them. I would not suggest missing class this course no matter the instructor can be overwhelming at times. I would definitely recommend Stein I took her for 171 and 172 one of the best instructors by far.

I loved Professor Stein!! I took her for MAT 171 and got an easy A! But you have to work a little harder in MAT 172, and that is one of the things she tells you on the first day of class. I slacked off and ended up getting a B, but I deserved it! She is so awesome, and understanding. You have to take her class.

Mrs. Stein is a great teacher. When she is teaching she is clear and thorough. The notes are very helpful and easily accessible. She also easily connects with the students and makes class enjoyable. I had her for a hybrid course and I would definitely have her as a teacher again.

Mrs. Stein is the best math professor you can get at cfcc. She's more than willing to work with you to help you pass the class. If you struggle with math she is a godsend, i've literally never had a better professor for a math course and she's funny so she she keeps the mood light and class isnt boring.

This class made me live math, even though I suck at it. It is a hybrid class so online material is important too. You have to do your online assignments to be successful, but the online assignments will prepare you for the tests. Shes always in her office ready to help you. She is def the teach u want if you want to be prepared for trig or calc

I'm not a great math student but getting an A in her class was certainly manageable. She's certainly sort of silly and very upbeat, which makes a dry subject like trigonometry more entertaining. The second unit in this course was painful, not any fault of Prof. Stein's, but be prepared. Her grading scheme is fairly generous.

I took her class at UNCW and absolutely loved it! She gives weekly quizzes, but they're very short and, if you review your notes, you should have no problem with them. Her tests are medium in difficulty if you're good at math, but she is very easy to talk to and responds to most emails relatively quickly. Wonderful teacher, def. take the class!

Amazing. For once I understand math! Her notes are so clear and easy to follow. She posts everything if you miss a class. She is super flexible and will work with you if you are putting in the effort. She wants you to learn and she careS. Plus she keeps the classroom mood fun and light which is nice for a dry subject like math. I love ms Stein.

Mrs. Stein is amazing! I took her for math 171 and now 172. This class is pretty hard but she is always there to help you out when you need it. If you want an A in this class you will defiantly have to work for it and show up to class. But other than that, she is laid back and funny.

Best Prof I've had at CFCC. She genuinely cares that you are learning the material. If you put in the effort and study the study guides you WILL do fine on the test. She really doesn't throw you many curveballs. Her philosiphy is that if you can learn to read, you can learn to do math. Go to the math lab and her office for help! Loved her!

She is awesome. This semester has been insane (Florence). She has worked with us, and challenged us so we can learn. If you want to be prepared for the next calculus class, you should feel confident taking ms stein.

I've taken Stein multiple times, and will again next semester. Printing her notes help a lot so you can look back (its easily organized that way). Study for the tests!! They make a HUGE portion of your grade, she usually tries at the end to help make it possible for you to get the best grade you can (opening old assignments, 10 point scales etc)

Mrs. Stein is a lenient grader and recognizes effort. She works with students outside of class and if you put in the work you'll get the grade you deserve. She worked with our class despite missing so much class due to hurricane Florence. Just don't wear a Trump shirt to class like I did haha.

She is the best. She takes the time to explain math in an easy to understand way. She encourages questions and makes herself very available outside of class. If you are having issues, you can always go to her office for further explanation. Do the study guide and the test will be easy. Put in the effort and make the grade.

She made trig so easy! She does make you memorize all of the formulas and identities... Do the study guides and the tests will be easy. She uses the same questions a bunch of the tests that are on the study guide.

Honestly, she is the most reasonable professor I have had to deal with at CFCC. She makes you work for it, but if she can see you are learning a little bit, and putting in the effort, you will pass. She is passionate about math and it shows. She is pretty funny and is always willing to help if she is in her office, even outside of office hours.

I took trig with Stein last seme and I was def more prepared to calculs this sem than some of my classmates who came from other profs. She gives you a study guide with verbatim study questions. both in trig and calc

She is absolutely very helpful, and shes always in her office answering questions. She wont give you the answer or retrace things, but shell help you work through the problem so you get it. She has a dry sense of humor, which keeps the class entertaining. Trig is hard, but if you study what she tells you to you will pass with a B. Def recommend

Above average Math teacher. Solid Choice. Explains things clearly and has songs, pattern, or devices to help you remember things. Better than any teacher I had in highschool. Keeps the class lively. Go to her office if you need help.

Mrs. Stein was an excellent math professor and clearly knows her trig. You are required to memorize a lot of formulas, but it helped me understand the content of the course better. She gives a list of problems to practice from the book for each test, and many of the test questions come from it. I would definitely take another class taught by her.

Our calculus class turned online due to virus. She has recorded all of her lectures as if she were in class. It makes it really easy to learn the material. She is a great teacher and will definitely help! She emails me back almost immediately most of the time when I have questions. She's awesome. Hoping we get to see our teachers again in the futur

I love her! SHe is my favorite teacher I have ever had math or otherwise, CFCC or highschool. Always willing to help and very straightforward. Plus she makes class fun. I have taken her for 3 consecutive classes and would recomend her to any incoming student!

We've only had one test in our class so far but she is the most responsive emailer I've ever head. This calc class is online as was my trig class last semester (both due to covid) SHe is always quick to respond with a handwritten explanation or video for help. She has all of her lectures recorded which is so awesome! I have been very impressed.

I really enjoyed this class this summer. Her lecture videos made the it very easy. She was always responsive to my emails and questions and got back to me really fast. The grading is test heavy. The test is basically a smaller set of the quiz questions and you get 3 attempts on each quiz. Even though I have not met her I can tell how much she cares

Had her online because of covid. I like taking math classes in person. You will do well if you study and do all the homework. This class is pretty much all homework and test. The quiz's and lab's are worth barely nothing but are good practice for the test which are weighted really heavy. You have to watch her lectures on youtube if you want to pass

I was worried taking this class online due to covid. A large part of your grade comes from tests. Her youtube lecture videos are way better than the videos from the publisher built-in mymath lab. The main idea is that if you can do well on the quiz and study the questions, you can do well on the test too. I am taking calc2 with her this semester.

Woman can explain the math. She always responds with something to help me super fast. I was worried about online math the last two semesters, but she has made this a v easy change. I took her for a second class too. Very organized and has recorded her own lectures which are really helpful. She predicts your questions and answers them. Def reccomend

Had Stein for Calc 1&2 both online. She is amazing and is ready to answer any questions you may have. Lots of homework for the class. Can't recommend her enough!

She is the most helpful online professor I've ever had. She answer questions for you super fast. Her materials are all very organized & each unit is that same pattern of assignments. There is alot of practice hw but her posted lecture videos are super helpful. I like them more than my math Lab stuff. There are lots of resources. She uses ProctorU

I had her for Calculus 2. She is very nice and grades very fairly as long as you show work showing you tried to learn the material. There is enough time to learn the material which this is also nice. For how tough this course is by nature, Mrs. Stein is the right teacher to take this course with.

Solid Choice. Took her over the summer for Calculus I and was not disappointed. She has online videos along with guided notes for all the Units in the class. Very organized and simple. Honestly if you don't like math or struggle I would recommend her. She always answered any question I had and provided and example to go along with it.

Ms Stein is awesome. She wants to see you put in the effort and learn, but when it comes down to it, she is a lenient grader. She has so many extra materials to help you... way more than other instuctors (online or not). Would recommend her to anyone.

I took her online for calculus II and she was great. She has guided notes and lecture videos that can be followed explaining the math, however some of the material can be a bit confusing and very broad. Make sure you study. Quizzes are exactly like the test except for different numbers and less questions. Overall, would take again.

This class is really easy if you put forth the effort. Tests are similar to Quizzes, just a smaller group of questions. If you are having a hard time or if you have any questions reach out to her. She is super personable and laid back and wants to help. Anyone who doesn't pass didn't put forth much effort in my opinion. Easy A for Algebra.

LOVED Mrs. Stein! The homework assignments are really long, but she gives you a ton of time to work on them. If you print out the notes/examples that she sends in the emails the tests are good. I am not that good at math and got an A in here. She also uses colored pens and highlighters when she is going through problems which I found very helpful.

You cannot go wrong with Mrs. Stein. She somehow fits five unit exams into a 16 week course, yet the work is still always just accessible enough for gradual progress through homework. Her library of lecture videos allows for you to learn 100% online if you can't or don't want to go to class. Attendance is not mandatory, but I strongly recommend it.

Mrs. Stein has created all of her own notes and has her own lecture videos to support all of her notes. She is a really caring teacher who wants to help you learn the material. Put in the effort and you will do well. Calculus 2 is a hard class. She will help you be successful if you are willing to try.

Great teacher. The material is difficult, and if you don't put in your share of effort your grade will reflect it. She is very forgiving when grading; if you put your work down and it makes sense, she'll give partial credit. Good bit of homework, a lab, quiz, and test per unit, with 5 units.

Bro below is just mad he didn't want to do any work or learn. Quit being so skibidi. She does make you do a lot of HW but she picks ~1/3 of the HW for you to focus on and study for the test. No surprises, she does expect you to learn. Calc 2 is hard. She cares a lot and as long as you are willing to put in the effort, you'll be successful 10/10

Mrs. Stein is the sigma of calculus teachers! Breakin down complex topics like a pro, making calculus actually click—no cap. Her energy keeps the class engaged + she's always there to help. She genuinely cares about her students' success. Truly GOATed, and if anyone thinks differently, they're just not willing to try or learn. ∑ A's require effort.

Ms. Stein is a real one for calculus! She keeps it straightforward. Just do the homework & quizzes, then you'll be set for the test. She tells you exactly what to study, making calculus way less stressful. But don't think it's all easy! She makes you work for it, if calculus were a workout, I'd be shredded by now! I like Ms Stein alot. She's easygoing and understanding. I wish I couldve had her for all of my math classes so far. She does give alot of homework, but she basically tells you exacly which problmes to study for the test. If you do the homework and practice you will pass. I also feel like I understand math so much better after this semester.

Prof Stein was very kind, funny and helpful in this class. The homework was extensive and felt like a lot of busy work but overall she provided helpful resources and if you put effort in, you'll succeed. She also helped a lot in the learning lab. All in all, not for the faint of heart, but it was an educational experience with Mrs. Stein :))

Prof Stein is honestly one of my fav math teachers I've ever had. Her videos are superr helpful and explain stuff way clearer than the textbook. If you ever email or reach out she's quick to help with a solution and makes sure you actually get it. She just explains things in a way that finally makes sense. Honestly can't reccomend her enough.
