Teipe fills her lectures with interesting historical anecdotes. she wrote the textbook herself, so it's relevant to the class. however, her tests are unreasonably difficult and specific. i had to drop the class and get a W. :0(
Horrible teacher to take for History. EXTREMELY difficult tests. Outlines the Chapter, but goes over no test questions during lecture.
Class was cool. Tests were hard but that is why they are called tests you idiots. Looking forward to taking more courses with Prof. Teipe.
Lectures are pointless - they are directly out of the book. Test questions make no sense. Do well on the assignments (other than tests) and you will be ok.
She is an intelligent, likeable instructor who is very knowledgeable about Women's Studies, but I just didn't like how this class was taught. It was basically taught by the students in group projects. The material is interesting though.
Interesting class and teacher. Covers a wide variety of women's history in the U.S., complete with interesting videos and articles. You can tell Dr. Teipe enjoys the subject. One of the best history and women's studies related classes at FC.
Not an effective teacher. Her tests are very difficult. There's a difference between hard and very hard. She is very hard. If you really want to take this class go for it, but if you can don't bother with this class. You been warn.
She's a really great teacher for this subject and she really does take intrest in how well we do. Her tests are hard, yes, but she gives us tips on how to study for her tests and also sometimes even gives us the question. There is no homework, just tests and that's the reason they seem so hard.
As a historian she is great. She really knows her stuff. As a teacher, she is ok but a little on the boring side, but I still learned a lot from the class, and thats what counts.
Prof. Teipe is an amazing teacher!! At first I wasn't doing very well but I stuck through it and in the end recieved an A in the class. The tests are hard, but aren't they supposed to be? She takes a HUGE intrest in how well her students do and rewards them in the end. Take her, she's awesome!!
Great teacher but boy did I have a hard time in that class. I so did not understand what was going on half the time b/c I was not interested in the subject and that ten page paper killed me. Still worth taking her class though. You will learn a lot from her.
The class is hard but Dr. Teipe keeps it very interesting. If you are prepared to study hard, this is an excellent class. Plus if you give her a lay out of a room she'll feng shui it for you ;)
shes an amazing women and very interesting but her test are REALLY hard...your have to read everyword...he essays are kind of vague, and the study questions dont help that much...one tip READ EVERYTHING ON TIME!!!..lol but i would recommend her
Bad teacher. Avoid her.
Im sorry butthis teacher SUCKS!!!! She is not helpful and her class is so boring. I had to drop it because the material is so unclear and so unorganized
Great teatcher loves what she does. Left class knowing more than when I started.
Emily Teipe is so cool. Definatly recommend her for Western Civ. and Women in US History.

I found this class very trying. She assigned loads of reading, including some that had little to do with the subject. All of the exams were in-class essays (closed book). She grades on a high curve.
Like the other comments say, she is Very Hard as she gives boring lectures and tons of reading and the tough essay tests are off all the reading, not the lec. She knows her stuff though which always makes classes better so take her is you love history

She is gone more than she is in class. The class is not organized and she is boring. There many good history teachers at FJC so don't take this one. Honors is a joke.
my fav. class i'm taking right now, it might just be me though :P
These comments are all true. Yes, she is smart. Yes, she gives boring lectures. Yes, she has impossibly difficult tests entirely on the readings. The thing I'd like to add is that she is inconsistent, unapproachable, and teaching is not her priority. She is a JC teacher who thinks she is at a University. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
THIS TEACHER SUCKS. very unclear, disorganized, boring lectures, tests questions are random- even if you study and read the book you will have questions that you have never heard of. If you want to work your ass off and still get an F, then take her class.
She has an interesting class, just don't expect any help from her in the least. Any questions asked are shot down, and if you think something would be too mean for her to do, she will probably do it. She teaches directly to the book that she wrote, which has numeroud typos, and gives tests even when she doesn't announce them. It's an informative class, but i'd think twice before taking another one from her.
Learn everything about women they did not tech you in High School. very respectful women, and gives greate lectures but powerpoints can be boring. Her book is not bad, except for the typos that are kind of funny. i would take another one of her courses.
totally nice woman, knows details about history, but nothing she talks about is in her tests;attending her lectures are a waste of time. all her exams are really vague and really hard to do well on. don't take her if you want an actual good grade.
so her book has typos, she is not very historically accurate, she doesn't help IN THE LEAST even for past work, she doesn't return work so don't expect to know your grade, she stopped teaching half way thru the semester... classes are a waste... if you read the text, you'll be fine..just do the EC..not reccommended..she's evil..tests w/o telling u
i really liked this class. she was not mean or boring in the least. she made her lectures very interesting and never did she give a test or quiz without informing the class. i really enjoyed the topics discussed and the way she taught. the only thing is her workbook doesn't follow along with lecture notes. your better off with the book.
took this class during winter session...let me tell you...nine days was good for me. i learned a lot from her. shes very intelligent and articulate. she also is very witty and has intelligent humor. i dont think i could handle her for an entire semester, but her winter session class was intense but fairly easy.
She is a great professor. Not exactly a loud spoken person, but knows what she is teaching. I would definitely take a class of hers again. She is very helpful too.
Extremely unprofessional instructor--makes fun of students and treats them like idiots. Does not return work in a timely fashion, will not respond to voice mails or emails, does not let you know your grade, boring lectures, exams do not relate to material covered in class. One of the worst instructors I've had in three years. Avoid her!!
i'm not someone who normally enjoys history, but i found this course to be very interesting. she's a nice woman who knows what she's talking about, and tends to throw out a few quips during lecture. notes are on powerpoint slides; tests are challenging, but can be simple if you take the time to study.
Teipe has alot of knowledge concerning her class. Her class lectures have nothing to do with the tests which to me was annoying. The extra credit is worth more than a test. Do it because the tests are very hard. If your going to take this class make sure you read the chapter, maybe even twice. Final was a take home.
Make sure to do the xtra credit paper! It is worth a test and a half. It'll bring your grade up by a substantial amount. Passed class with ease. Test are kind of hard because of how she words the questions.
She is nice and really knows her stuff (I mean she did write the book!). I had her during the summer and lucky for me, she cut the material in half. Her lectures are long and FULL of info so take notes! Her tests are hard and she might let u take them home..if she does...google.
LOTS OF READING & A LOT OF INFORMATION TO REMEMBER. ITS EASY TO GET AN "A" IF YOU JUST READ THE BOOK & TAKE GOOD NOTES. ---- book available for sale: THE PRELIMINARY EDITION OF DIFFERENT VOICES, WOMEN IN UNITED STATES HISTORY. BY: EMILY TEIPE. CHEAP $40.
LOTS OF INFORMATION!! VERY EASY TO GET THINGS CONFUSED. class was lecture/powerpoint presentation almost every time. tests were pretty hard. good thing is she passed out outlines of all the notes for a class. final was take home..thank gosh nice lady, knows what she's talking about it's just an overwhelming with all the info.
She's boring as heck. But the class is easy. Read your textbook, check out during the lecture, you'll do just fine.
Really nice lady, funny too. Made the class interesting and sometimes would mention how she hates uppidy feminists. ha. She's pretty cool. I would take her again. As for the material, just do the reading and you should be fine. The easiest of all the classes i took this semester.
Great Class. Wonderful professor. One of the best classes I have ever taken. Took the class Spring 08 and absolutley loved it. Lots of information to learn, but if you read the book, take noted in class as well as your own, and then actually study from them, you will succeed and do well.
Very knowledgeable about the subject materiel, very kind and friendly, and her lectures were crystal clear and very enjoyable.
Great teacher, good communication. Took her online summer course, only 8 weeks long. This class will be hard if you do not read. One test I did not read everything and got a C, all others got an A because I learned my lesson. Very straight forward and up front about all tests. If you don't want to read, do not take this class.
I took her online summer class (which was actually 5 weeks long) and it was a very interesting class to read about how much women contributed to the history of the US (sometimes got a little mad about how women were treated). I'm not much of a history student, but the subject was so interesting. Got an 'A' :) She will answer emails promptly.
I took this class online. The professor is very responsive to email and seems very pleasant. Tests aren't easy but they're doable. Do the extra credit that she offers and you'll be fine. My only complaint is that the text book (which she wrote) seemed to jump around a bit... and I couldn't sell it back at the end of the semester.
If you decided to take her, you should think it over again. She is a bad teacher that you dont expect.
I like her. She's a very straight forward teacher, but every now and then cracks a joke that's hilarious. She lectures the whole time which I enjoyed, but also throws in a movie here and there. When people are knuckleheads in class she calls them out which is great. Good Western Civ teacher.
She is easyyyy!.. im lazy and she is easy i rarely read the book and i got A's on all the in class essays she is chill and funny compared to other classes she is an easy teacher and shes really niceee ;)
This class was ridiculous. I hated it. She was not clear at all. Everyone in my class failed every test. she never gave us a study guide or told us what the test was on. She just said the chapters. i was pissed and stressed the whole time. She cant remember which class is which and how far along each class is. DON'T TAKE IT!!!!!!!
Don't take this class avoid if you can! I was a 4.0 student and I got F in this class.
Dont take this class!! Seriouly!! It was the hardest class I have ever taen. She gives no directions at all and just tells you to read read and read.
I took this class online. She is a bad teacher that you do not expect. If you decided to take her, you should think it over again. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!!
I am sorry, but I have to say, This teacher SUCKS. If you want to work your ass off and still get an F, then take her class.
worst professor ever....very old and doesnt knw wat she is doing. never helps any student. and now atall clear about any assignment. she could easily fail you in any asignment without any reason. doesnt know how to grade papers.
She is worst of all, she posts her office hours, but you go to her office hours then she wont show up...you ask for help and say this is hard or I am getting lowest grade what shoud I do, she will say drop this class. sh wont help at all.
This woman told me to master my english skill before taking any "Soc Sic" class. I already for an A in English100 and I still got 0 out of 150 for turning in a 4 pages homework assignment. Take her if you want a W or F on your record. By the way you can't rewrite your paper.
Bad teacher. Avoid her. DO NOT except any help from her.
I am a history major, and she won't even help me when I visited her. Most likely not going to pass this class. Take this class if you want a real challenge.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!! There is a difference between hard and very hard. She is VERY VERY HARD. she has impossibly difficult tests entirely on the readings.
These comments are all true. She is worst of all. Don't take this class!!!Seriouly!!!
The worst professor in the city of Fullerton. Most likely the worst in the area. Take her if you are want to test yourself. If you can pass this class you can do anything. By the way each exam is 100 questions that only god knows.
Horrible teacher. Very difficult. Very unclear. Tests are crazy!
Really hard class, even I study hard I am still getting a C in the class. The teacher is no help when you visit her during office hours. Also you know the teacher is in it for the money when she require you to buy her book.
Don't take this class if you are an idiot. This class is hard and you need to be prepared with 100 questions for each exam.
HARD teacher! Terrible class! Only READ READ READ and TEST TEST TEST! DONT take her!!!
I agree. Worst teacher I?ve ever had. Like the people earlier said. Don't take her!!!!
She wrote the textbook herself, so it is relevant to the class. However, her tests are unreasonably difficult and specific. I had to drop the class and get a W.
I had a 4.0 gpa, and thanks to this class that will be changing-I got a B in the class. The book is very poorly written so you'll have a hard time understanding the material once you get past all the errors. The powerpoints are a mirror image of the book. The tests are completely ridiculous and a wast of trees. Nice lady, but a horrible teacher.
Very hard Western Civ class. Only grades were 4 tests and a book assignment. It's mandatory to read the book because the tests have some specific questions. She's very knowledgeable about history and you can tell she enjoys it as well which is cool but like I said, her class is no cake-walk. If she offers extra credit via a museum visit, DO IT!!
Amazing Professor!! Her tests aren't as hard as everyone says they are... And she gives tons of extra credit!! It averages out more than a whole exam... so if you take all the exams you have so many points in the bank. She was super interesting and will really connect with you if you let her... try to sit in the front...
She is the worst prof. ever. I could not understand how she got paid for online classes when she did nothing but running scantrons through machines. Online class with 6 on campus exams no open notes or text. 10 extra points over the course. had to read 6 chapters and take the final in 2 weeks. exams were tricky and not for understanding purposes.
worst prof. 6 ridiculous exams focusing on small details just to fail students. No notes allowed. final exam was 6 chapters to read in 2 weeks with no limitation. book and pp are unclear. If you have a computer-like memory, take her, otherwise avoid her if you don't want to hurt your gpa
took this class online, textbook was extremely confusing with no glossary, incomplete index, and jumps around from subject to subject. When emailed teacher she was not helpful at all and never directly answered my questions. Tests are extremely hard and questions are random, some focus on small details and lots of trick questions.
Horrible horrible class. I studied really hard and I still barely passed. I failed almost test. It was so HARD! The final was rediculous. the only good part about that class was she would cancel at least one class a week and email ahead of time. Even history majors hated her in that class. Nice, but doesnt get through to students.
I don't see how she could have possibly gotten so many bad reviews. She's fairly lenient, gives interesting lectures, and showed our class a couple of really cool documentaries. If you're lazy, don't take the class. She assings a good work load, but it's nothing painful. She gives a 100-point extra credit assignment. A very unique class, take it/he
Whoever is saying there is extra credit is either a liar or she changed her curriculum. No extra credit offered. Online class with no help from teacher what so ever. Quizzes and tests are formatted to be trick questions. She is very rigid. A students become C students. Do not take her!!!
Teacher is not practical at all. Barely pass with a C for a 3 unit course with the effort I put in have passed with an A in a 5 unit class. Instructor stated that her tests are based on theory and not facts. I thought history was based on facts? She never replied to me. Online class and bases tests off of lectures and not material given to us.
Took online class and it was very hard... Her tests are full of trick questions requiring you to pretty much memorize all the details of every chapter. Projects are pretty easy it's just the tests that are the hardest and they make up the most of your grade...
She is a very nice lady and it is apparent that she has passion for this course, which is refreshing. The textbook was written by her, as well. The only thing is that I would read the chpts and powerpoints...and the tests still seemed foreign. Maybe Im just a bad test taker, but I found it difficult because tests came out of left field
VERY difficult class. Teipe is passionate about the material but she does not have a talent for making students understand the material. Even with hours of studying the exams are very difficult.
This class is VERY hard! It's basically all tests that are confusing, much alike, and difficult questions! If you are a bad test taker, stay away!!
Emily Teipe is a really sweet lady, but her class is very demanding and time consuming. If you put in a good amount of time with the reading and use her study guides for the tests, you will be able to pass no problem. Her lectures are really boring, but she tries to add humor. It works SOMETIMES. Overall, she is not too bad, just really challenging
Took online class - very interesting but teacher herself is a dealbreaker. Very poor communicator - doesn't respond to emails. Very frustrating to deal with. Doesn't resolve online problems or help you at all. Plus she teaches the class as if everyone is a history major. DO NO TAKE unless you have to.
Took online class. She rarely responds to emails, doesn't stick to her office hours often, study guide she wrote in the back of her book didnt help one bit on the test, very vague and misleading on exams. She had a very bad habit of posting "I know you all are cheating" comments on our onlinebulletin. She killed my interest in womens history.
Where do i begin..her notes are somewhat useless. The test she gives have problems that werent even in the book or study guide. Lectures are very boring and i love history. Not much enthusiasm.for hist 110 she makes you read Everlasting hills and makes you answer impossible questions.advise to stay away from class. Hard grader
If you are going to take HIST 270, you have to take it IN PERSON and be there EVERY DAY. All the information you need is in the notes, but you have to PAY ATTENTION. The book assignments are tedious, but if you start reading early and STRUCTURE YOUR TIME WELL, you can get them done way before their due. Great course, nice teacher.
HER CLASS IS DIFFICULT TO PASS. Her tests have nothing to do with what is in the book or what is on her study guide. It is very hard to get help from this teacher. DO NOT TAKE HER!!! or else you will fail her class miserably.
In defense of Dr. Teipe, yes her class is hard & attendance is critical. Yes she assigns alot of reading & her tests are difficult. If you are the type of student that wants to complete a class understanding a topic & have the ability to take that knowledge anywhere with you, then take her class. If you are looking for an easy A, don't.
She is the hardest teacher of all fullerton. If you do not have a social life, no job, and would like to read her book all day everyday, take her and still hope to get a B. Her tests are hard and tricky. She wont help you and she would blame blackboard for not answering back emails. No extra credit, she wont drop lowest score. THE WORST
She definitely isnt boring, however, her class is probably the most difficult class i have EVER taken. She means well and knows her stuff, she just doesnt know how to effectively teach students. i wouldnt recommend the class. I got a C, miraculously.
Do not take her class!! Unless you are really interested in womens studies or womens history dont take it. she is horrible. not to mention her tests are ridiculous. Unless you would love to read her book all day dont take it and if you are looking for an easy a definetley dont take it. Im just warning you!!
Hands down one of my favorite professors EVER! Yes she's challenging if you don't do your assignments or study for tests but other than that she is an absolute sweetheart and is very helpful and clear in her instructions. She's funny too! There's one writing assignments and about 4 exams and a final. I recorded her lectures and took notes and studied my ass off and got a B.
She's really interesting and knows a lot about the subject which makes her an awesome and interesting professor. If your looking for an easy A then don't take the class. If you're going to be lazy and not study or take notes OF COURSE YOU'RE GOING TO FAIL.
By far the worst teacher I have taken at Fullerton. Tests are tricky and she is very boring. I took the class twice and could not manage to pass it. Her teaching is so horrible. Unless you want to study day in and day out, go for it. I would not recommend her, not even to my worst enemy.. if that gives you a clue on how bad of a teacher she is.
Worst teacher ever. I met with her during office hours and said that my notes were above and beyond. Her exams were NOTHING like my notes and she also claimed that the study questions are on the exam. NOPE. DO NOT TAKE. Managed to pass by doing extra credit and a C on the paper. Failed both tests.
This professor is HORRIBLE!! Yes, she is a very educated older woman, but she does not make any effort to help you pass. You're pretty much on your own and must study your butt off for her exams. Her exams are one after another, on 4+ chapters. She's nice but so boring. DO NOT TAKE! Oh, and no extra credit to help out either.
You have a text (that she wrote) to read, and usually 1 or 2 extra books to read, NOT interesting in any way. The text questions and power points don't have a whole lot to do with the exams either. She demands that you spell check your assignments before they are turned in, yet has multiple errors herself. Be prepared to read ALL the time.
I LOVE Dr. Teipe. She actually makes you learn, not just memorize. As a history major, I adore her for this fact. Her tests were sometimes a little difficult because her questions weren't always straightforward memory-based questions, because she makes you think. I appreciated that. If you study, try, and care, you'll do well. She's wonderful.
I don't understand how Teipe got such a poor rating. Her tests were all based on the book reading... I'm pretty sure she made that clear on her syllabus. I actually really enjoyed this class. I thought the lectures were interesting and the book even more so.
This teacher made absolutely no sense. Her tests were always a surprise as you never knew what would appear. She told you to read the book and take notes from her powerpoints for her tests, but nothing we learned was ever there. If you want don't want to fail then I STRONGLY suggest avoiding this woman and her class.
The study guide is useless because the test has nothing to do with it. No power points either, or heads up in ADVANCE chap for each test!! No clarity on study guides to indicate WHAT to study for. As much as I enjoy the class, I just hoped for more clear guidelines so that it is possible to have full confidence on the study guides...
I really enjoy women's studies, and learning about it, reading about it, and even stressing about it, at the end, gave me insight.
She was a very helpful young laspdy
She's like riddle master 5000. Do the extra credit and it'll all balance out with your moderate test scores. She had a take home exam and a lot of people got C's. It's possible.
She's like riddle master 5000. Do the extra credit and it will balance with decent test scores. There was a take home exam and a lot of people got C's.
Iwould recommend her only if you are VERY much attuned to women's history. I personally alearned ALOT from her online course. The reading is going to open your eyes to women's issues and gender history. You do have to put in EFFORT, or else, you will fail. You have to write a chronological essay based on her textbook, answer questions to the 'T'
This was so ridiculous. 1. There are only 3 exams, no homework, and one extra credit paper. 2. The first exam (based on 8 chapters), we had 6-7 weeks to prepare for, but the other two exams (based on same or more amount of chapters), we only had 2-3 weeks to prepare. Her tests are HORRIBLE. Other than that, the book is cool to read.
Tests? Two midterms and a final. HORRIBLE outlines. This is an online course so you would think students would receive an accurate outline. It appears we are expected to know the textbook (written by the professor), front to back. I do believe in giving ambiguous and irrelevant information as a means of teaching. BAD CLASS
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE! i ignored all the reviews and ended up dropping for the semester! this tracher doesnt even try to be nice, takes long to answer and simply doesnt care. if ur still decide to take the class buy my book on craiglist that i never used lol BY THE WAY.. she makes u buy her own book ridiculous
The worst online class EVER. Take this class by itself if you choose online . There's no learning here, LOTS of reading and memorizing. No clear cut study guide, so you better just remember everything and everyone in each chapter (good luck with that). Information is interesting but TOO MUCH to study, demands time. She's nice, helps if asked
Dr. Teipe is the best! I took her for Women in US History and Intro to Women's Studies. You'll learn about so many women that have been glazed over (or completely disregarded) in other classes, which makes the class challenging. Make sure you read the book, do the extra credit, and go to class.
The entire text is available for free on Blackboard. The class consists of two long question-and-answer-type assignments, and one 100-pt multiple choice final exam (taken on campus). Beware, the final will ask you questions from material that is not covered in the readings. If you have questions, visit her office hours; don't bother emailing her.
Do not take this class unless its your major! Her tests have nothing to do with what she teaches. And that is the key to passing that class. I asked for help several times and she brushed me off each time and told me to just drop. You need to be really dedicated to this class, otherwise... Good luck..
This really has been the worst teacher I have ever had at Fullerton. Not only does the study guide not match the test but the chapter questions, powerpoint questions do not match the test either. Moreover there is no answer key for the study guide. Unless you have prior knowledge and background it is nearly impossible to pass this class.
The tests are difficult but there is a big curve because most of the students will screw it up. If you can memorize intricate details on hundreds of women, you will do fine. Otherwise, do the extra credit project because it will save your grade. Makes you buy her own book, which is cheap online but painful to read.
I have taken many online classes w/success; however, this class was not fun. I concur w/the negative reviews - totally accurate. I am set to graduate in Dec & I now have to retake Hist bcuz a C is actually a D in her class. I won't retake her for the grade replacement, will take another Hist class. Don't take her unless you are a Hist major. Awful!
Tests were ridiculously hard. Hard as in I felt like the material that was covered on her back to back power points weren't really able to answer the questions given on the test. Her class was based off of 2 hours of taking notes non stop, slide show after slide show and BOOM! Two weeks later exam my friend ... Super tough. Really don't recommend.
Great class, She is a caring professor. Class participation is a plus and don't skip class.
Great lectures --she really knows the subject!
She really knows the subject and as long as you go to class, take notes and read the textbook you'll do fine. She curves on her exams and gives one extra credit assignment. She doesn't give out homework so make sure you really study for the exam by doing the study guide and reviewing it and the notes you took in class.
Her tests were incredibly difficult and correlated very little with the study guides and lectures. Everyone complained in her class beside the students that had already had her for a previous course. Be ready for study groups and huddling outside her building for terms that weren't in lecture or readings. Take another course
Online class was too general in information on what she tested for. Impossible to know what to study for on tests. Interest text book but awful teacher.
Self-directed course, easy to procrastinate. Grading criteria: 2 LENGHTY writing assignments (mostly based on films/reading guide, which you have to research to answer thoroughly for full credit ) and 1 FINAL EXAM (very easy, 25 quest, multiple choice based on glossary terms). Prof did provide reader for FREE!
Taking this online course is the worst thing I have ever done to myself. Tests are not at all pertinent to the study material and the book is filled with useless information that isn't even related to women. I'm currently enrolled and I will be dropping this class.
I took the online course for WMNS 100 and it was fairly easy! You don't have to buy a book she provides the reading material through blackboad. The syllabus is clear and easy to understand. Has you read and watch a lot of interesting films. So glad i took her class! She lets you know at the beginning of the semester what to study for the final.
I took WMS 100 Last fall of 2016 and I loved the class. I took her class online and only meet during exams. You definitely need to read the textbook but the text is really interesting. Her grading is clear. Easy class, read, and do your work and extra credit and you will be fine. I loved the class that I took her Hist270 this spring sem. Recommend.
Loved the class. Took her online course. You do have to read the textbook. Make sure you work on the study guide it will help you a whole lot for the exams. She gives one time extra credit which will help you at the end. I recommend her. Make sure you read the textbook, work on the study guide and do the extra credit and you will pass. Easy class.
3 tests. Gives you a study guide which is IDENTICAL to the tests. Only problem is the answers aren't easily found in the textbook that SHE WROTE, and often leaves things open to interpretation. She'll only give you one or two answers right before the test, so useless. Get together with a group of people and compare answers.
Dr. Teipe is extremely well versed in her field and I found her class very insightful. I enjoyed it, and while it was very tough, she allows for extra credit which helps. I highly recommend her.
She is the sweetest lady! Very passionate about the class, the lectures are interesting. She gives you study guides that are VERY helpful for the test . It's hard to fail this class. Just show up, listen, read the chapters, and do the study guides and you should receive and A. It is a little time consuming to do Study guides.
She gives you the all questions for the most of the tests but the questions are so vague and some are impossible to find in the book. Star the questions you don't understand and talk to her after class. She will give you the answers. Just make sure you attempt answering them yourself first.
Emily is absolutely amazing! She is an oldie but goodie and she's hilarious! Every class was interesting and she wrote the text book you need. I LOVED the book. Easy to read. Her exams are super easy and she gives extra credit. I would take her/this class again in a heartbeat. I've learned so much and she really cares about you.
Okay she gives you "study guides" that are VERBATIM the exam... All you have to do is go throughout the chapters and circle the right answer, study that, get an A. It's that simple, just put in some work for your grade. She gives an extra credit opportunity to read this book (I did not read the entire book and got a high score).
Okay, I had her for an online class and had to drop because she gave she assigned no homework other than reading, (sounds great I know), but also that's literally the only thing we had to do so test are 100% of your grade. BUT she did provide study guides which is great EXCEPT the study guide for the first exam was 23 pages long. WHO HAS THE TIME?
Easy A. Gives you the test questions and all you have to do it find the answers from reading the text book. she accounts attendance as part of your grade so make sure to go to lecture. She cares about the subject and her students and appreciates feedback. Recommend taking the class even if not required for you.
This Woman is an American Hero. She researched and wrote the text for the class and she has done and amazing job. She should be teaching at USC or Harvard.
Best Teacher and Text I've ever had. I learned a lot!
A LOT of reading. Gives study guides for test but a lot of answers are hard to find in the book. Majority of grade based soley on exams
In class /online you need the book, you print out the study questions & look for the answers & you take 4 tests plus the final exam and 1 book report. You have the questions to the tests well kinda of some questions can pertain to 2 different answers & she sometimes words the test ?? differently than the practice ?? . A lot of memorizing to pass
this professor wrote her own book so makes you buy the textbook or ebook. There are readings every week with chapter study guides. Most of the time the questions are confusing. She hardly gives enough time for the essay exams which there are 3 of them & gives you the prompt only a week before its due. Hardly ever concerned or helpful when emailing
The worst by far professor that I have had. She does not teach, guide, or explain anything, but expects perfection in return. No outside sources whatsoever, bad communication, and overall headache of a class. Do yourself a favor and try to take anyone else... literally anyone else.
She's a tough professor but well worth it in the end. Although an online class she was well worth taking.
Prof. Teipe was great! Its very quiz heavy and essay heavy but I easily passed. You do kinda have to navigate the course yourself if youre taking online which can be hard at times but I liked it. She also gave me 100s on all of my rushed essays that I felt were crap so shes a pretty easy grader.
This class was not super hard however be prepared to read. This teacher has her own textbook she made herself so she knows everything about it. When it comes to the papers be very accurate and cite where you got it from book. Her quizzes are not hard if you do the study guides. So ALWAYS DO THE STUDY GUIDES! You will do fine if you do those & read
At first this class was a lot with all of the readings but eventually it got easy, the quizzes are easy if you do the study guide so make sure to do those! essays were graded leniently, ive never received below a 95 for an essay. The class was very easy, time management is important for this one.
Professor Teipe was an amazing history professor. I just completed her class to fulfill my history requirements and really enjoyed her class. There's not much work going on but thats what made it simple. You have 6 quizzes worth 20 points each and three essay exams worth 100 points each. I would definitely recommend her class
Professor Teipe is awesome and very passionate about the subject she teaches. Her course was based on a textbook (that she wrote) with pretty light homework. You won't waste time in discussion boards and replies in this class. Aside from quizzes, the exams were essays and as long as you read you'll do great.
Teipe was an excellent professor. Although there is a lot of reading involved, it's not as awful as it seems. Numerous reading quizzes based on the chapters you've read are included, and three essay exams are also included throughout the semester. There are 6 reading quizzes in total. She was also nice. She sent out nice announcements.
This professor is very knowledgeable about the material because she requires you to use her textbook for the course. My only concern about the class is that the reading quizzes are clearly written by an expert who uses little half-truths to trick you into picking the wrong answer.
Your grade is heavily based on the reading quizzes, which are completely different from the questions in the study guide. Must buy her textbook to take the midterm. If you don't do well on the reading quiz, you will likely not get an A.
She is a very tough grader that expects nothing but perfect even though her textbook sucks. Don't take her class, seriously, how she is still working in her field, is beyond me. If you don't pass one exam, good luck trying to raise or maintain a good grade. 10/10 would NOT recommend! Not an easy A, worst professor ever!
awesome and a great person
She was awesome, but really difficult. TAKE HER STUDy GUIDES
good teacher
pretty aura
Tech baddie
She is very kind and responsive. She is the author of the textbook that we read for the class and she gives study questions for each chapter. We only get graded on six exams and two essays. It's a lot of reading but I loved the book. I would absolutely take her class again.
