If you dare to ask for clarification, prepare for an eye-roll, a sigh, or a dismissive remark that makes you regret even trying.

If anything, interacting with her makes learning harder, not easier. She's condescending, dismissive, and seems to take personal offense when students ask questions.

Emma teaches first half of 256. Super boring lectures. She knows a lot about the financial markets and had a awesome career on wall street. Not a lot of work though. If you can last through 2.5 lectures once a week for the first half of the course until John takes over, its super interesting and a great intro to finance. Worked hard and got an A-.

fairly easy half credit course, learn a bunch of useful stuff and she is very knowledgeable - few assignments that don't take too much time

you get out of econ256 what you put into it, she is obviously very smart and knowledgeable. since it is a huge class it is very easy to sit in back and coast and get a fine grade w/o paying much attention but can be very useful if you take advantage of it for finance prep

Emma pretty clearly has anger management issues, and can be extremely rude to students. She struggles to teach course content that must be applied to the class projects which make up the majority of the grade. Duke needs to find a new professor to teach its most important finance course.

The real problem is that expectations are unclear and she doesn't stick to them when she does give them to make her or her ta's life easier and then says she won't reply to student emails asking about it. Her lectures were pretty dry and most of the learning for her portion of the class is done through watching pre recorded videos outside of class

Competitions are rigged. I'm convinced she meets in a secret underground bunker, vibe-checks the students, and picks winners based on astrology, favorite colors, and coolest names.
