Either he doesn't have enough teaching experience, or he just shouldn't be teaching at all. If you don't know any better and take him for Math, I wouldn't count on getting into Calculus.

Dr. Darkoh really needs to take a course on effective teaching techniques. He has an adversarial attitude toward students and shows little regard for students. I think he should quit teaching and get a job as a statistician.

Don't do it. Don't take him. He confuses himself, and ends up confusing you--nearly every class. He doesn't like being asked to clarify his examples, so ends up belittling students who do so. If he's the only teacher and you HAVE to take his class, don't. Wait for next term. You've been warned.

Don't take it with Darkoh. Forget about the course but don't ever take it with him. He doesn't do any thing ritght but making confusions.

he has no sympathy, he told the class what was covered on the midterm and then it turned out he included something else, i went to argue b/c i didnt study for it, he later admitted he forgot but said that it was still my fault, and I should have "known" better, ended up w/ C+, lucky im in UBC now =)

The material for this class is not very hard, but if you take this prof, you probably won't understand. This man should DEFINATELY NOT be teaching. I'm taking notes from a different prof from last semester just to get by......Darkoh really doesn't know how to explain anything in a simple or effective way.

Definitely a bad experience. You won't learn anything. Avoid if you don't want to get yourself confused and need to take further courses in stat. He is easily frustrated too. Yakes :-(

touch teacher, usually dunno how to solve the problems that he gave us; once a question on midterm i had to guess the answer, and when we ask him to solve, he wrote on the whole board for 20min, and couldn't solve it; guess what his answer is "u have to guess the value of X, u know that i cannot give u a hard problem to solve in a limited time" omg

If you have the choice, do not take this mans class. He's a nice guy and all but he has no idea how to "teach" a class. His definition of teaching is reading directly from the textbook. Extremely unenthusiastic about what he's explaining and makes it really hard for students to follow along, especially considering it's statistics.

Unclear on best of days

Unclear, uninterested, he flies under the radar and tries to do as little as possible. He has no clue what he is doing when he is without his trusty textbook solutions. Very unhelpful, PLEASE! Save your time and money. I've never been so frustrated with a teacher in my life. He creates unnecessary mass confusion throughout the whole term.

This teacher forgot to show up to class 3 times. Very boring teaching method for a 2 hour class. Easily distracted as he keeps on looking out the window. Never smiles cuz he hates his job. Never checks his email. Very defensive teacher. Have to memorize formulas for quizzes but don't have to memorize formulas for midterms and final. Messed UP prof.

Lousy teacher. You won't be able to understand him, he gets distracted alot, he harasses the women. His writing is as equal to a 3 year old. Some people in my class walked out of class mid section or simply never attend a lecture but rather only go to the test days . The textbook helped me more. Advice to colleagues. Deal with him accordingly.

Extremely hard to understand. He only read though his powerpoint each class. Very arrogant and impatient with students,also avoid answering student questions. Hard marker and unreasonable, over half of my class failed in the end. He is often late and commonly his class is half empty or students walking out mid class. Avoid him like a plague!

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST TEACHER IN THE WORLD. He is a rare find, one of those profs that think hes gold but loves to stand in front of the board, so no one can see anything. This guys is an awful professor. Me and my (required) tutor had a lot of laughs over his blundering teaching method. He introduced natural log without teaching us what it meant, and EVERYONE failed his tests and quizzes. Do not take his class. This is the first review I've ever put on here - as a service to the public.

First math prof I've had that comes to class with no examples prepared, just randomly picks one from book and expect the students to do it with him. Makes mistakes on those examples 1/2 the time, wastes everyone's time. Stands in the way of notes, after learning a basic concept on your own, you'll be surprised at his choice of examples.

Do not take him. I'm normally an A student and I took him and it was the worst decision of his life. If you want to pass this course, he is not the teacher for the job.

I have taken over a year's worth of math classes here and Darkoh is by far the worst teacher I've had. He's constantly making mistakes in his lectures and examples, loses track of what he's talking about, and his accent is so thick at times you have no idea what he is talking about. I'll be having to teach myself this term it seems.

Often makes mistakes in class and takes up to 5-20 minutes to correct himself, even with student help. His teaching method includes writing a question, then writing out the answer while saying "you do this" and "OK, so here's the solution." He shouldn't be teaching this class, since I felt that I would have been better off learning on my own.

Worst possible teacher to pick. His teaching method is often very unclear, instructions are often all over the place, and his pace is terribly slow. Often it takes him a third of the class to figure out how to get the computer to work, and when he does, his ability to make the online resources available for his students is a huge mess.AVOID HIM!

DO NOT take his class if you struggle with mathematics. I've seen students struggle in his class. His lectures are pretty boring and his exams are relatively easy if you understand the material. If you obtained ~90%+ higher in Math 12 or Calc, just sleep in his class.

On the first day of class, he lowered the projector screen in front of the whiteboard, left a projection of the desktop on, and taught the rest of the lesson using only the tiny bit of whiteboard not covered by the screen. Before you can write anything down, he immediately erases his notes like it's some sort of special secret. DONT DO IT TRUST ME

Awful prof!!! He speaks too slow, and he can't explain things clearly.He speaks poor English. Although his exams are not too hard, you have to pay attention in class, and it is hard to do so. I strongly recommend you avoid this prof unless you are great at self-studying.

Don't take him. If you actually need to learn math, you won't learn it from him. Gives out homework online that he doesn't know how to use and gives out the wrong deadlines.

Darkoh is the worst instructor I've ever had. Period. If you want a good grade, AVOID HIM! 3 weeks in, half of the class withdrew. He doesn't explain the steps to solving a problem. He doesn't mark homework so you don't learn from your mistakes. He is so unorganized and he stutters so I couldn't understand anything he said.

Horrible teacher. You either do it his way or you don't get the marks. Even if you get the answer method correct, but the answer not, then you're wrong. Do not take him.

This prof doesn't know what he's doing. his notes are messy, he writes the wrong information and if you try to correct him, he'll deny his mistakes. he's very unorganized and his notes are useless. he answers math questions by using his answer keys. AVOID THIS PROF.

I'm really frustrated with this instructor. He is very unorganized. The online portion of his course is messy and he doesn't give any instructions on how and where to sign up. I wonder how there are 2 different pages for one section! He also gives wrong deadline for assignments. If you're an international student, I warn you that he has an accent.

WORST PROF EVER! Never reviewed trigonometry at all. He has a hard time explaining things and didn't cover half the material he put on the midterm in class. He ended up scaling the midterm down 22% in order to make up for the poor marks students got so half the class didn't fail. Most of the class has withdrawn.

By far the worst instructor I've ever had, ever. His "lectures" consist of him copying the teachers solution textbook verbatim onto the board. He CONSTANTLY makes mistakes at everything he does. Cannot answer even the simplest of questions, and ridicules students for asking. Had to lower ALL exam requirements to allow class to pass. No trig review.

Darkoh's lectures are like watching Punk'd. Confused students stare and shrug as Darkoh lectures with his back to the class, body blocking the board so you can't see the notes. Ends every explanation with "as you can see, it's pretty easy so I won't bother explaining it further." Skips steps and copies the solution manual verbatim. Thick accent.

Good person, but he is not clear at all, heavy accent and monotone makes it hard for paying attention and understanding what he is saying, very tough marker.

Get ready to self study everything by yourself because Darkoh does not know how to teach. He makes things so much more complicated than it needs to be. He does not know the word 'simple' in my opinion. Exams are tricky. The wording is very vague. Quizzes every week. He teaches very slowly too, we ran out of time at the end

Is not qualified to teach whatsoever. He does not prepare for his lessons at all beforehand and seems to be making it up on the spot. He also makes a ton of mistakes when working on questions and does not want to explain tough concepts but will over-explain easy ones to compensate.

Lectures are over explained, does not get to the point however his tests are easy. Overall the worst part is his accent since his explanations are unclear to begin with anyways.

I'll be totally honest, I think hes a really nice guy and would make a great friend outside of school. He's the kind of guy I would love to grab a beer with for sure. But when it comes to teaching, you couldn't pay me to take another course with him, even if it was free, I just wouldn't do it.

I would suggest for you not to take any of his classes. His lectures are very unclear & 99.9% of the class is confused. There is a very highly likely chance you will receive a barely pass or a fail if you completely depend on Emmanuel to teach you the course. You will be fine if you know your calculus very well & have outside sources for help.

He has not once given us a break. It's a 2 hour class and I find myself just falling asleep after an hour. He's extremely hard to pay attention to. Too many pop quizzes. Online hw is never announced and students often miss if not announced that its been posted. His office hours are not accurate. Impossible to find him.

If you want to learn in class, stay home. Khan Academy does a better job. His lectures are extremely unorganized and all over the place. He barely goes over the basic concepts and then throws you in the deep end. Darkoh is extremely dry, dont even bother taking him.

Darkoh isn't really great at giving lectures. His classes feel quite unorganized and it seems like he explains things in a complicated fashion when they are quite easy to understand in the textbook. You will have to self study a lot to do well in this course, as he never really reviews old concepts. His strong accent is also hard to understand.

Difficult to understand his lectures, lacks the ability to get to the point, confuses the students with too much words. Materials are very straight forward but he is not a great 'teacher' as his method of teaching is not the best fit for the majority. Would not recommend his class unless your a self learner. Group/individual project is easy.

An effective communication means that information sent by the sender is understood by the receivers- otherwise its just noise. In that sense I just went to lectures to listen to the sound of his voice. Literally noone understands, and he mistakes the silence of confusion as that of satisfaction. Dont bother asking questions; he wont answer anyways.

DARKOH IS ABSOLUTELY HARD TO UNDERSTAND! AVOID IF YOU CAN!! He has a thick accent which makes it hard to understand his lectures. He often gets confused about his own work by making mistakes and having typos in his notes. His lecture IS NOT BASED ON HIS NOTES BUT BASED ON THE TEXTBOOK QUESTIONS. He just does a bunch of examples without explaining.

Very hard to understand (thick accent)... uses the whiteboard, but near the end of the questions you can't even see the second half of the work because he goes all the way down. Sometimes he would tell you there's a quiz but during that day he would sometimes forget about it which wastes your effort of studying for them.

NEVER take his course. He is confused on his own work and its hard to understand what he is taking about. His lectures are not clear. His exams are pre hard. He is not helpful and not a nice professor.

Unorganized lessons. Sometimes unclear instructions/ grading criteria for quizzes and tests. Unengaging lecture, as he basically just does a bunch of questions from the text book. Tend to teach slowly (ie spending a lot of time on easy bare bones questions). Tends to come late to class

Emmanuel is not so good instructor , he doesnt give a clear instruction about what he wants student to do during semester , not a clear or organized course topics , you ended up confused and helpless.

Lectures were boring and confusing! He just had to spend half an hour to make something easy to understand more confusing and hard. Exams were easy, skip class will deduct participation marks for sure. He's unrespectful when you ask questions during office hours.

He doesn't give clear quiz instructions resulting in lower grades and he doesn't answer emails. Everyone in this class group chat thinks they're going to fail with him.

Just don't do it, Me and others got A's in other classes together but C- to C+'s in his stats class. He wouldn't let us hand in things online during the start of the pandemic even if we were sick, had absolutely 0 compassion, and the most confusing lectures, and poor explanations of statgraphics ever. Just dont do it thanks

He is not a fair grader and is very inflexible to students' needs.

Brutal Professor. Avoid at all costs. Doesn't explain lectures well so all your learning is from the textbook. He will ask if there are any questions then proceed to avoid giving an answer. As this is a transfer course I would recommend taking anyone else but him.

Online teaching is really not his thing. The concept itself is quite easy but he makes it so difficult to understand. Projects don't have a clear outline and most quizzes and midterms are either multiple choice or you have to just fill in the blank so not much room for part marks

Avoid this prof. His lectures are worthless and you will have to teach yourself. If by any chance you have this prof, be ready to self-study.

Just because you have a PhD does not qualify you to teach a course. Darkoh seems like a really nice guy, but he is not qualified to teach anything. He talks incredibly slowly and doesn't know how to use the technology necessary to teach a class remotely. Nothing will be explained in his lectures so I hope you like self-teaching. Terrible.

This guy is the worst prof I have ever had. He does not know how to use zoom, his D2L is a nightmare, the way he teaches makes me actively confused on topics I already had competence in. Does not let students ask questions by voice, only text, then answers late or belittles them. I would never take him again. Hard quiz questions too. F-

The exam dates and times on d2l are wrong from when we actually need to do them and he doesnt even mention the fact that the exam dates/times are wrong. U just gotta figure it out urself I gues? Mr. Darkoh's incompetence in teaching and his low experience with technology make his class an absolute nightmare to be in. The way he sets up his tests in D2L is very unusual and he never clarifies how he wants you to hand it in and when you ask he becomes aggravated. He also marks your work very unfairly and can mark correct answers wrong. avoid

DO NOT TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR! He is AWFUL. If he is the only instructor available, wait till the next semester. I'm serious. He gets angry and heated whenever students ask a math question. He is also a hard marker and rarely gives partial marks. Very hard to communicate with and most of the time does not answer our emails.

Doesn't know how to do online lectures, some classes are listening to him talk about the slides hidden behind a blank screen during his lecture (he forgets to share the screen.) The only way to learn in his class is to read the textbook yourself. only gives one or two assignments through the semester. doesn't actively check email

Darkoh is an interesting character. He's got a lot of attitude in terms of answering students' questions and in his marking style. He is quite unprepared and his Brightspace is a mess. His reputation is already pretty tarnished but I'll say it again, save your time and tears and find another prof.

- Disorganized - Technologically illiterate, will post important exam information by email, and sometimes he forgets to send them before a quiz/exam. - Doesn't explain well, and will berate you if you can't understand it - Condescending, and seems to hate his students - bad notes I only did okay since I've learnt most of the material beforehand.

At first I thought that this class wouldn't be that bad and that these previous ratings were just from irresponsible students. But nope, these reviews are all true. This professor has probably been my worse one ever. VERY irresponsible, does not know his OWN schedule (forgot we had a quiz in one of the classes) and just flat out disorganized. SMH

Difficult to understand his speech. Very slow talker. Unorganized, failed to send instructions for first quiz until two hours before it had to be submitted. Instructions were very poorly worded and unclear. He proceeded to berate the students who failed to submit the quiz properly. He made WebAssign($80) mandatory, but hardly uploaded any homework.

Don't waste your time, especially if you really want to learn the material. He has unorganized notes, doesn't know how to use the computer (this class is online), doesn't answer your emails, doesn't remember when he assigned exams and quizzes. The notes are hard to follow and when you ask questions through zoom he gives snarky remarks. DO NOT TAKE!

With absolute confidence, I can say that he is the worst prof I have ever had in my entire life. He is technologically inept, takes a week of emailing back and forth to answer 1 simple question, and is incredibly inconsistent with what little he posts on Brightspace / emails to you. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

Avoid at all costs. Even if its the last stat 1181 course available, do NOT waste your time or money. He is unquestionably the worst prof I've ever had to experience. I believe Emmanuel has the knowledge to teach his class but, he cannot teach effectively. He stops after every word, he seems confused, and his speech is incoherent and often revolves itself making simple concepts confusing. If you're a very strong student you'll probably do fine but if you're like 97% of students, avoid him at all costs.
