Great professor! I took him for 1411 and it was great. I took a different professor for 1412 and ended up dropping that class. I waited a semester and took Dr. Ewane again. It was the best decision. If you have to take chemistry, he is the best.

A great professor. I took him like 3 yrs ago. he is very helpful and very down to earth. More like a friend/teacher. He is someone you like hanging around with in school and out of school. He knows his material well. He has a Phd. And uses it.

Well, lets face it, Chemistry is hard. Dr. Ewane will help you if you seem interested in the class and make effort. I would recommend him for Chemistry and Organic. If you think any science classes should be easy, think again. So don't expect an easy A, you have to work for it.

I found prof. Ewane to be wonderful teacher! He will help you to understand and gives very through notes. However, you do have to put effort into his class, chemistry is can be a very tough subject.. If you don't mind doing some work I highly recommend this teacher.

Lectures aren't thorough enough for the test. Easier to take for Chem 1 but very hard for Chem 2. Will required lots of studying on your own time, and even then its pretty tough. Very Respectable Professor, and will help you if you ask, he won't come to you if you need help so ask lots of questions.

Very Intelligent professor in Chemistry, BUT he is extremely hard and his test are very tricky. I recommend him to students who are majoring in some chemistry field but DO NOT take him if you r not strong in science. WOW! This guy can win a Nobel Prize in about 20 years! Super smart but also super-hard! If you suck in science DO NOT take him! I have a 3.7 GPA and I had to sweat and study my butt off to earn an A! He's a REALLY good professor. His tests are NOT easy & you REALLY have to study, but he makes it so that you understand the material even after you leave class. You really have to work for your grade, but if you're planning on going into the medical field he's the one to take. If ever you have questions he's super approachable. I got my A :)

This teacher is very thorough.He is a very smart man.Anything he could to make you understand Chemistry he will do it. If you come to class and do the work take all the tests, turn in your labs and do all the extra credit problems he gives after some classes you will not fail. The only reason I did not get an A is because I had 4 other classes.

I learned more in the two classes I took from him than in a whole semester of CHEM I. I had to drop because of work, but I always look for his name on the schedule and would love to take him if I could. Look, Chem is a toughy, but isn't it a function of the time one puts in? Dr. Ewane makes chem awesome...totally enjoyable. I've been completely challenged, and feel that I've mastered so much. Heck, I've continued with him in organic. I earned my A in general chem, and will soon be kickin' butt on the MCAT, I'm sure. HCC is fortunate to have him!

Dr. Ewane is the best chem professor I've had! i had him for 1411 and now I am taking him for 1412 he is extremely helpful and nice. He will answer all of your questions without hesitation. Just make sure to do your part in the class and study hard chemistry is not easy even if you have a really good instructor!

I saw many lost in class (chemistry is not easy, unless you like it) but so do I see people lost in history, gov, math, etc. It all depends how much of your time you are willing to put on it. Hey, chemistry can be difficult! But you have to go into this class wanting to succeed and study, study, study. Dr. Ewane actually made this class enjoyable for me(and I'm no Chem major). Tips: Show up, Study and Do all work (HW was xtra credit). To my surprise I made an A. Best Instructor!

GREAT PROFESSOR. Took him in the summer. 4 tests + 1 final. He drops your lowest test grade. Go to class, and take very good notes. It's very important that you to write what he says and what writes on the board. Do the hwk, bc he gives you 10-12pts on each exam!! Took Org. 1 & 2 from him during the summer. He is fairly knowledgable and does answer all questions thrown his way. He likes to make the lectures fun and jokes around often. ONE OF 2 BEST PROFS I'VE HAD AT HCC. Followed book,explained things VERY clearly. I took Orgo at Rice before. Ewane was better than my Riceprof. Very serious at beginning, but laidback/funny later in semester. HCC orgo Lab-a bit unorganized & useless. I feel pretty confident about orgo part of MCAT bec of Ewane. Good explanation of syntheses.

Very good instructor, BUT his test are very hard. He takes concepts you learned and spins the question on it head. He explains very well but I would not take him again, nor would I reccommend. His test are nothing like his past exams/reviews that he suggests you study. Calculations are pretty straight forward, but multiple choice is crazy.

First off, Chemistry is a hard course REGARDLESS of who you take. So be prepared to devote your life to this class if you enroll in it. With that said, Dr. Ewane breaks the material down to it's simplest form so that it's easy to understand. BUT his test are hell! You have to know the material backwards and forwards to survive the multiple choice.

(CON'T). There are 4 test and a final but he drops your lowest test grade. He wants everyone to do well so he gives a lot of extra credit. Do whatever extra work he assigns,including HW, because those points make a huge difference in the end. Also, use the material on his Learning Web when studying. I passed with an A, but I literally had no life.

Organic Cemistry is not easy.If you would like to have better understanding and enjoy Cemistry classes I recommand him. He is an excellent professor and very helpful. You follow his classes, then you can make A in his class.

Dr. Ewane is super awesome. Attendance is mandatory for his and all other science classes. There is 4 tests and a final, 5 in total, and he drops the lowest grade. I took gen chem 2, organic I & II with him and it really helped me getting into medical school. You learn something from this class. Most of his lectures tests will help you repare for the MCAT, PCAT. College is not easy so suck it up and become adults.

If you do your work and listen in class you till do well. Tests match more of the textbook rather than the notes. He will give you sections to study for the test. He always answered questions I had. Turn in all your homework even if he doesn't ask for them. You need to be responsible for completing and turning it in the next class.

Dr. Ewane is a excellent professor. He made Chemistry II easier than Chemistry I.

Three highest test grade(out of four), lab average, and the final make up the majority of your grade. He does extra credit(homework) if he feels like it. He has a test outline and old test online for each unit and has a day for reviewing in class as well. There is no real reason for someone, who puts forth the effort, to not make at least a high B.

He wants everybody to pay attention so he would ask people questions frequently. Take his class if you really want to learn. DO NOT take if you want an easy A.

Second part to Org 1 and the same principle applies. Do your part to study and do the assigned homework. He is a great professor and explains Organic in a manner that you will get it. Hands down the best chemistry professor that I have had.

His tests are easy as long as you study the book and the notes. 35 mc, 3 short q's straight from the notes. No quizzes. Uses pts from chapter hmwk as bonus pts on tests, if nobody makes a 100. No reviews. Reason why ppl fail his tests is bc they don't have time to study. Cancels lab a lot. You miss a lot of class and u will be lost here at WCJC.

One way to know a good professor is to ask a tough question and if he answers with confidence and a smile, he is good. For me he linked the bonds between all sections and made the tough course seem so easy. Tests are not as hard as others mentioned, compare the tests with the chapter Q. and its easy. "D" BEST IN CHEMISTRY.

I was taking 5 courses this semester and scared that I would fail. Professor Ewane just motivated me to keep going. He is understanding and his aim is to make sure that you learn at the end of the course. If you are having issues, make sure that you talk to him and be real. I love this teacher! I worked my tail off and he saw my effort and rewarded

AMAZING professor ! O. chem is going to be a challenge regardless, but he breaks it down for you to understand. i didnt even take general Chem 2 & struggled initially but if you go to his office he'll help you a lot. ended up with a B, if i wasnt working full time & did more practice problems, & didnt cram for exams, prolly would of gotten an A !

This guys is freaking AMAZING! I took him this summer and talk about a tough fast pace. He is great at lecturing and has a way with words to help you understand the material. Toughest professor I've ever had. Not an easy A. No phones are allowed. Very difficult test. Overall loved the lectures and the challenge.

The most dedicated professors I've ever taken. I had to drop O Chem twice at the university level and taking Ewane was very helpful. He wants you to actually learn the subject and not just google questions. If you are looking for an easy A, do not take this class. There is a reason he is the head of his department!

Wonderful teacher- you can tell he has a passion for breaking down the difficult concepts of ochem. However, his tests do not accurately reflect what has been learned. Very tricky questions. You have to study.

If you really want to understand Chemistry, Take Him! He is a good lecturer that will pass his students as long as they participate in his class. He is a bit disorganised because of age but will help and work with you if you understand him. Students that read and studied well scored between 90%-100% in his exams. He also curve and give extra mark.
