Easy to get A.
His teaching method are absolutely amazing. He is super chill and I just wished that he teaches every math class.
This instructor is one of the most chill, patient, and friendly guy I've ever met. Take him and you will learn a lot of Math stuff you need to know. Easy to understand but beware that you'll need to do a lot of clear workings.
Personally, I felt like he was alright at teaching math. He makes mistakes so students have corrected him. YOU HAVE TO DO HW. You do have to remember formulas and things like that. He does grade nicely on test sometimes. He's a pretty nice and chill guy. As long as you do all of the homework and actually study for quizzes/tests, you should pass.
I feel like he is one of the best Math teacher I have ever seen. He really cares about his students. Sometimes, you just need to be proactive in class because this is college. He is chill and really does gives a lot Math tips.
Easy teacher easy A. All the tests are homework based. You can take the practice exam as many times as you want and the test question is from the practice exam. Don't want to spoil it but I skipped the last two months of his course and decided to self-study. I got 95 for my final grade. Would definitely take him again if I had a chance.
He's pretty easy going and quite helpful when you ask questions. You will definitely have to work for your grade. The only things that really make up your grade are quizzes and tests.
Terrible! Marks off points for little things on test like ending a parathesis. My work was all correct. I went to the dean of the math department and even the dean agreed that I should have passed. New professor so I guess take a gamble on him if you want. Pop quizzes so do your homework nightly. 5 test and quizzes. Homework isn't graded. Good luc
Took him in spring for calculus. Other review must be are fake. He is difficult. He seems nice but grades really hard & homework is not graded. He loves proofs & test are based on notes. Which could be anything. 5 test & pop quizzes. Not good for students who work because if you didn't do the hw you're screwed. 1 person got an A. Half class dropped
Really great prof. He explained everything very clearly and made calculus make sense to me. He provides study guides for his tests but they're not always super similar to the actual thing, but sometimes they're exactly similar. So in that respect it was hit or miss. Really enjoyed the class, wish I was able to dedicate more time to it.
Be careful when he explains something in class, because he usually makes people confused by making a lot of mistakes on lectures and that's going to mess up the whole thing. I feel suffered a lot when I am in his class for Calculus and I recommend you guys to think hard before taking his class for Math.
He helped me understand math even at 7:45 in the morning, so that deserves a good rating all on its own. He is pretty funny and he knows how to break the concepts down in a way where it is easy to understand but doesn't go at a mind numbingly slow pace. Overall, would recommend his class!
This class is very good for working students. He has a lot of pop quizzes but you can retake them if you failed or didn't do the hw. Which is great because I am self support myself to go to school and can't always do the hw every night. If you havent taken math in years he is very detailed and even breaks down the math terms for you to understand.
This statics class is amazing, lectures almost everyday so make sure you pay attention and attend class or you will miss a lot, especially for a summer course. He gives you practices quizzes and tests that you can take over and over and usually those sames problems are on the actual quizzes and tests. No book needed everything is on my math lab.
This is a math class so do you homework. He grades fair and there is a study guide before each test. No notes on tests and he lets you retake the quizzes. Great if your a working student who can't do the homework nightly. Pay attention and take down his notes they help with homework. 40%quizzes 60% test for summer. If you fail your an idiot or lazy
I am taking this professor for two math classes in a row every day for summer 2017. Math 101A and Math 159. So far he is pretty terrible in teaching Calculus because he is super messy and makes numerous mistakes while teaching. He lost me often in class and is also really hard at grading. He's great at teaching statistics though. Surprisingly.
Took him while concurrently enrolled as a high schooler, and I can easily he say he is the best math teacher I've ever had. Lectures aren't hard to follow, and he will help you understand topics if you need him to. Quizzes aren't too hard, and tests can be hard, but he provides a study guide which is similar to the actual test. 10/10.
I am not sure what some people mean when they say his class is hard. All you really have to do is pay close attention to whatever he teaches. He even gives concept quizzes to make sure people are understanding his concepts. I've received an A in his class for always staying on track on the things he teaches. I highly recommend you do the same thing
He used to make a lot of mistakes and students in class had to correct him. His teaching style is unprofessional and he is also a tough grader. All good ratings about him are fake and I don't recommend you guys to take his class in future.
I am currently taking his class for math 152, and so far his teaching style is amazing. I have recently graduated high school, and I really wish I could skip math at high school and take his class. His tests are never multiple choice, but his teaching style is so amazing that the tests won't be too difficult. PS He wears really nice clothes
He teaches in a simplistic way, but is able to convey the topic clearly. Do the homework and study guides he gives you and you will be fine. Very easy when compared to high school calculus.
He gives quizzes as scheduled on a question straight off the hw. If you dont do well, he allows you to retake them, which is rare in college. Also, his lectures are extremely helpful and straightforward and he gives study guides for tests. As a professor he is very kind, funny, and helpful. Just come to class, pay attention, and you'll do fine.
Extremely helpful professor who brings fun to lectures. Just took him for Statistics and got an A easily by just keeping up with homework. All hw contributes towards quizzes/midterms/finals. Not a heavy workload as long as you are kept up to date. Very fun class!
Fairly easy teacher. Is very good at keeping students interested and often shares fun facts about the world of math and science. Very knowledgeable and knows what he's talking about. Quizzes are re-takeable and are 40% of the grade
I loved Professor Garcia! Im not a math wiz, but his lectures were so straight to the point and he made sure everyone understood what was going on. He gives homework, but you dont turn it in (optional). If you do miss class you probably will be confused for the next lecture. He also lets you redo quizzes! 10/10 recommend
Really good professor. Tries to make the lecture and class fun and engaging. Gives real life examples of how linear algebra is used and its importance.
I just finished taking his class for the summer semester. Professor Garcia is a great teacher. He explains his lectures very thoroughly and uses great examples. Even though his lectures can burn you out, there were breaks. His exams weren't hard. If you ever need 1 on 1 help, ask him. He's willing to guide you step by step. Would take again!
Super chill class. As long as you come everyday, you'll be fine (he gives a grade for attendance). He makes things easy to understand and offers individual help very often. As long as you study and take the practice tests, the exams will be easy.
He is the best teacher for statistics, if u follow his study guides do ur work u will pass!
Im literally the worst person to ask when it comes to talking about statistics but the professor was the ultimate encourager. A very nice and patient teacher which is needed when it comes to statistics I highly suggest his class.
Garcia was probably one of the most chill professors I've ever had. He takes time in explaining things in statistics and brings the problem class-wide, which is very helpful. Coming to class is important, only a few tests, and overall a funny person. But make sure you pay attention. Things move fast.
I would definitely recommend taking his class. If you have a basic understanding of calculus, you should definitely take him. He explains everything in depth, more in-depth than any high school teachers I have ever had. He is very easy-going and would repeat things if you ask him. I really enjoyed being in his class.
Professor Garcia's class was quite easy. He does a good job of explaining concepts and is always open to questions. His lectures are amazing and he is able to make classes fun while still teaching the required material. Homework is not mandatory. He gives quizzes pretty often but allows you to retake them if you don't do well on them.
Professor Garcia makes statistics as enjoyable as it can be. He relates lectures to a lot of real life situations and often tells stories. As long as you show to class and follow along, you should get an A. Practice tests are provided and are great preparation for the test itself. The textbook is given for free and homework is assigned out of it.
He was amazing! I took this class for the stats for the second time and mr. Garcia teaches it in a way where if you dont like math or you arent good at it this id the way to go!! He has a lot of office hours and its really flexible with homework help and test prep 100/100 would recommend to everyone
Professor Garcia is by far the best calculus teacher at Ohlone. He gives clear and organized lectures. He assigns homework problems for the entire chapter, but you do not have to turn it in. There are quizzes, but you can retake them as many as times as you want for 100%. Practice test are handed out, which is great preparation for the actual test.
He gives great feedback especially on why I did not obtain full credit for a question. When I asked questions he will try to make sure I fully understood what he was saying. He made linear algebra really fun and less stressful for me.
Garcia was super nice and caring. His practice tests were just like the exams and really helped when it came to test day. He's a bit slow on grading but grades clearly. His lectures are entertaining as he throws in lots of random fun facts and keeps you engaged. He's super nice and allows you to retake quizzes as many times as you want. AMAZING!
Professor Garcia is an awesome teacher! He does forget concept quiz dates and he rarely took attendance; however, he allows you to retake the concept quizzes (worth 40%) as many times as you like. He explains the Calculus content pretty well and if you don't know what's going on, you just have to ask him during his office hours.
One of the most fun math classes I've taken, Garcia always tells cool stories in class and is always vocal. He knows what he's talking about, sometimes he skips steps but feel free to stop and ask him what he did, he'll gladly respond. You can retake his quizzes infinitely which is awesome and his practice midterms are exactly like the midterm
The best teacher. I love his classes. its fun to be in it. His pace is the class pace. The test is easy. Its basically the practice test. Love it
Prof. Garcia is by far the best math teacher Ive ever had, perhaps one of the best professors Ive ever had. He teaches conceptually in a succinct manner, and then how to solve the problems succinctly. Ive truly appreciated Math for the first time since taking his class.
Although I have never been considered a math person, Prof. Garcia made taking stats during the summer worthwhile. He knows how to talk to a group of young (and old) students and gives clear examples of each topic. He shares hilarious stories to keep students awake and laughing. I advise you to take him to help you get over some sort of math fear.
calc can be a tough subject and he never makes anyone feel dumb for asking a question ever. also like that he always gives us a couple mins after each concept to do our notes, just a chill dude all around
I took Introduction to Statistics 2019 Fall Semester with him and it was really amazing because he is really funny and understanding. His lectures are never boring , he is hillarious teacher and always show us a tons of energy!!! I'd definitely take his class again. He is not a though grader. Very- well - organized teacher.
Easy A. Just pay attention and take notes and you will easily pass this class.
He is an amazing professor with a bold personality. I enjoyed his class and ATTENDANCE IS A BIG DEAL! You are graded on it as a sign-in sheet is passed around class. The challenge for me was coding because for our stats class we had to code in order to solve the homework. If you miss a day of class then you miss alot of the coding aspect. Focus!
i struggled in math before but his class made it much easier to understand statistics, his lectures are engaging and he goes through each problem step by step and its clear, his exams are exactly like the practice problems, he also gives full feedback on problems u got wrong, u can retake quizzes until u get 100
Great class
Arguably one of the best professors I've ever had in the education system. His lectures are easy to follow and he's very easy to approach with questions about anything. There is quite a bit of homework in the class but it more than prepares you for his midterms and final exam.
Take his class, you won't regret it! Amazing professor, interesting lectures, and very caring. To do well in his class, make sure to pay close attention. The best math course I have ever taken.
I am a straight C student for math related subjects, but this is the first time I got an. He seriously is not only an easy grader, but also a good teacher. He explained everything so perfectly and was extremely chill. I would say at first the coding was a bit intimidating, but you'll get the hang of it. If math is ur weakness take his class!!
He's chill, wants you to learn and understand the material rather than put a stress on you. The most amazing class I've ever taken. Take him and you won't regret it.
I took his statistics class over the summer and it was online due to COVID. He was a great teacher and never made me feel dumb for asking questions as I normally do. i even fell behind a little in the class but I was able to catch up easily because he was very approachable and helped me out. I got a hang of the coding and it made things easier.
He made class during covid so much better. One of the best teachers I have ever had. Explains everything thoroughly and if you still don't get it, will take time out to help you out! Will definitely be taking his class again :)
Professor Garcia has been the highlight of my Fall 20 semester! I have always looked forward to his online lectures (which are RECORDED). He is an easy A because he teaches so well. He is so fun to get along with and he's very lenient with deadlines! I will 100% take Professor Garcia again if he's teaching a class I have to take later on.
I don't think I have ever enjoyed math until I took Professor Garcia's class. He's extremely understanding of the pressure we have as students and is very easy to talk to. If you ask him for help, he'll explain it in the easiest way possible. I loved his class this semester and I recommend taking math 159 with him!
Professor Garcia is an amazing and chill professor with a hilarious, likable personality. He really cares about the well-being of students. He frequently shares funny stories during lectures. He never makes anyone feel dumb when asking a question. What really stands out is that he sets aside class time to help students with assignments.
Professor Garcia is a wonderful Professor. He is extremely kind, caring, and funny. His online class is done through a coding software called "R." I was scared about this because I have never coded before nor am I tech-savvy however he made it super easy. I learned a lot of new information and skills from his class. I highly recommend taking him.
Professor Garcia is by far one of the best professors I've ever had! Math is not my strongest subject, but with Garcia, he made it so fun and did such a good job giving lectures that it became easy for me. He is totally understanding of his students and is always checking up on them as well.
Professor Garcia is a great math professor. He explains the material very well and if you ever have any questions don't hesitate to ask him. He is very helpful and understanding. I was a bit nervous in the beginning since this is a coding class and I had never coded before, but Professor Garcia explains everything very well. I recommend taking him.
His notes is well organized. He's a funny teacher. really easy to talk to. his lectures are very good. he prepares his students for the test. just make sure to keep up on the homework. just take good notess and you will pass with an A. He understands the life of a student. i really loved his class. He's also cool outside of class :)!!
will definitely get an A if you pay attention in lecture/try on the homework. study guide before exams are EXTREMELY helpful. he is super chill and approachable so don't be afraid to ask questions in class/during OH. really loved his class. there were EC questions on the exams as well. only downside is that he can be irresponsive to emails
Garcia is one of the professors that are more chill and cares about his students. I took him for 101A and Math 159. I'm taking him for 101B. He will always take the time to show things that are interesting out of class whether it's a new movie trailer or something funny. It's just not only teaching calc. He's like a friend more than a professor.
He is a great professor, but that does not mean the content is easy, He can definitely make it feel easy, but as long as you do the homework "on time" for your own sake. You can pass his class.
Awesome and chill professor, he's great at explaining things. Calc 2 material is difficult to understand but he encourages students to ask questions. Easy class to pass just take him! He's hilarious and insightful. Homework is a little difficult just pace yourself.
An excellent lecturer. Gave us til the end of the semester to turn in all the homework (which helped a lot). Homework grades became heavy due to scaling back on quiz and test requirements. I spent a lot of time getting help during office hours - (to avoid the professor forgetting to attend), I'd email him my questions 15 min prior.
3/5 due to all the confusion surrounding the midterm and the final towards the last week. This professor will not get back to your emails/questions on discord, and will p much leave you hanging until class where you can get the answers to your questions. OTHER THAN THAT, great guy, teaches well.
Very unorganized and does not respond to your emails or messages if you need any clarification or help. He gave about 40+ questions for every assignment which had multiple parts to each question and every chapter had about 4-5 assignments with total 6 chapter. Do the math thats min 1200 questions with 1 question being only 1 part. but fun guy
Please do not let these reviews throw you off into thinking this is a good prof. He is by far the worst. Doesn't respond to emails after 5 as he is "off". You are basically on your own. Do not think that he will come to save you if you cannot understand something. Has tests submitted on gradescope and people have got a 0 cause of his unclarity.
He has a nice personality but his teaching style is not good. He teaches you 1+2+3+4 in class but in the homework its find the 36th antiderivative of something. His videos dont show examples that are in the hw. Also doesnt respond back to emails. ALOT OF HW, take his class if you like to research math by yourself and teach yourself. not organized!!
wanna go off on this dude, but I care for you more than this dude. To save you a ton of reading, all these seem to be paid reviews. It is a TRAP do not fall for it. Wanna take it? Take anyone else than this dude says hw is 70% of the grade and an easy pass until you see that the hw is filled with easy 30+ questions that each that minimum 4 subparts
Professor Garcia is the best professor I've ever had in my whole life!! Would take again !!
I loved taking his class. He set time aside for me to explain things one on one, tests are open note, open book, can discuss with classmates. He wants you to learn. That being said, it's super hard to reach him outside of class. It's the only reason why give 4/5, but Garcia does care and he wants you to learn.
He is a really chill professor, easy HW, and has amazing lectures.
Prof Garcia is an easy teacher for online because you get unlimited attempts at homework and tests. However his teaching can be messy and tangential. His lectures tend to get confusing and he does not do enough to engage students. He can have an attitude.
Class is unorganized and unclear syllabus.
Took him my first semester and left a really good impression. Really decent guy, homework /exams are not difficult at all. Gives you loads of opportunities to reach out to get help. Really funny too.
He is super kind and caring. The work is not that difficult and he uses online platforms like edfinity, gradescope, and wolfram. he can be slow at grading but it's nothing to fret about.
Prof Garcia is super easy to talk to and his class is always engaging because his personality is just great. For the actual class, the work is mostly just online as we just have to finish homework which is most of the grade. There is one midterm and one final which are both really easy as well.
Avoid this professor at any cost; I took 159 (Intro to Stats with him during the summer term). He does not respond to emails, he was late in publishing the class on canvas, and he was late on posting the lecture videos. Not only that, he posted everything late and proposed extensions, which never happened, and 12 assignments due the first week.
Had him for online and it was mainly through online textbook work and watching the lecture videos online. The class was confusing because he never responded to emails, or would take weeks, and was inconsistent with posting assignments, grading, extensions, etc...Overall average class just make sure to complete the assignments.
He does not teach in class. He expects you to watch the lecture vids prior to class and you just do homework in class. It may seem nice initially, but you need the class lecture to grasp everything well, so I DO NOT recommend you take this class. It's basically an online class with in-person exams. He's a little condescending when asking for help.
He never responds to emails and the class is basically an online class. He basically doesn't teach and uses other professors' videos for lectures. during class is basically when you get to ask questions but sometimes he's not clear on his answers.
Class is basically all online like how others say, the in person part is just a formality but he kind of requires attendance. Quizzes can be retaken but must be present on day of quiz. Tests are very very similar to practice tests, ask him for them. Difficult if you don't do homework, but if u do homework and watch his videos then easy enough
Hilarious guy, but is all over the place as a teacher. Probably used to be more organized, it seems like he is going through something. Lectures are good but long, homework assigned on MML which is also long (and hard). Tests are word problems and they are hard but he allows notes. Only got 1/4 of the way through the subject matter. He cares a lot.
Somehow both the easiest and one of the most effective math teachers I've ever had. He's weighed the class so that so long as you do the homework and quizzes, you can pass the class. His lectures are very entertaining and he explains hard topics very nicely and makes them easy to understand. He is also generous with curving the midterm and final.
Although it is a hybrid class, we do nothing in person. He only taught the class the first day, and then everything was just solo for the rest of the term. No more lectures, only recordings of OTHER professors teaching, not even him. Don't take him if you're not good at self teaching yourself. Not worth anyones time being in the class.
One instance had him stating that a particular math situation would be implemented in one of our quizzes when it was nowhere to be found. Before realizing that he had lied, he had given an entire lecture on the topic without giving us any time to review before the quiz. Not only was this misleading but he had basically set us up for failure.
Professor Garcia is such a nice and caring professor. But when I took 101C with him over this past summer, it was a LOT of homework. I mean, A LOT! And it was hard to contact him outside of class. But the good thing is, he graded pretty leniently on the exams, even when I thought I did really badly on them.
Great guy. His lectures were easy to understand even though the material was difficult. He has 3 tests and a final, but he gives you practice exams to help you prepare. He was a little spontaneous though, jumping around material and we skipped over a few things. But he's a super personable guy and hilarious.
TERRIBLE 3hour lecture with no explanation just free time Makes s*x jokes thinking hes funny Grades are heavily test-based (80%) and don't explain material. 90% of students dropped out, course content is online only so you HAVE to self-study Lazy doesn't grade his quizzes and pretends he grades them Got an A by watching Instagram not learning
By far WORST math teacher I had. Gives other professors videos, and just does a problem in class for his so-called "lecture". This was by far the HARDEST A I got. Take his class if you hate being in a healthy mental state, (Or hate yourself). Thinks he's funny. Wouldnt recommend. I have no idea what these other people are saying.
Seems like a nice guy but going through something that doesn't allow him to teach at his best capacity
Like other people mentioned he makes many out-of-pocket jokes which some might enjoy and some might not, but he is a good person I feel I just didn't like his style of teaching. He would want you to show up for each class (2 times a week) and literally do nothing in class expect ask him questions then go home and do hw. Other teachers don't do this
Alot of self studying.
DO NOT TAKE GARCIA. will set you back with calc in the future; you will have to relearn literally everything. do not take him please
he used to be a lot easier which is why his old reviews are much better. outright said he doesn't respond to emails so dont bother. he's not the worst though, his lectures are a lot of rambling and hard to follow sometimes
L Professor.
Homework was all online and he was not accessible out of class but it wasn't an issue for me. I would take him again for Math 101B if he teaches in Summer 2025.
Explains content well in lectures. Homework was online and practice tests are very similar to actual tests. Disorganized with assignment deadlines and pacing + can't contact out of class. Very particular about work on tests, and deducts for very minor steps not shown. Seems great at start but overall, it's just alright.
This class requires a lot of self-study. The lectures can be hit or miss, but using Unstuck AI alongside the course materials can really help. Attendance is mandatory, so be prepared to engage.
Made a hitler joke on the first day of class. Extremely unorganized with grading and work. More than half of my class dropped after the midterm. Since this class is a hybrid class he would send videos of OTHER PROFESSORS WORK from Ohlone and expect you to watch them all. In person lectures provide nothing useful, it's an online class in disguise. L
Extremely unorganized
Class was half asynch half in person. He did not provide working videos for the asychronous lectures and we were left completely in the dark for those lessons. Homework can be very long sometimes and there is little help to reference. The tests and quizzes he gives are slightly harder than what is expected from the practice.
The class I took was CS113(no category found). As a math major, this is the best professor I've ever encountered. Super interesting lecture, with incredible background knowledge of every topic he teaches. The test is hard but if you finish the practice test it would be fine. However the grading is very slow.
Imagine Futurama as a CC professor. He's really knowledgeable and chill. Good lectures. Caring if you put in the effort and is very helpful if you ask questions. Made hard concepts easy and made class fun. Tests and quizzes are the same as practices. Unorganized and late in grading but you can easily gauge your grade. Overall good professor.
Professor Garcia is a funny guy, but he also focuses on what needs to be taught. (I took him over the summer for Calc 1 and still felt prepared for Calc 2 for the little time that we had). Easy to ask questions or seek clarification in class, but it isn't really accessible outside of class.
