the Worst teacher there is. He wrote the book amd he thinks he is very smart do students cannot communicate with him very well. He assumes every one knows what he is talking about
He is not bad at all, I took 2 classes with him and was great, sometimes makes his terrible jokes but it's k, sometimes he begins the class sharing the international o national news, that is not bad! I like him and of course i got a good grade!
OMG....there is not a more smart aleck teacher at lacc then auza. Just bc he wrote the book, he is the smartest person in the world. Talks too much bs especially soccer. Btw, over 75% of the students fail the class...Just warning you how hard he is.

he is the coolest teacher ever,funny and likes to connect econ to real life,go to class read his book and u will do well, he is not hard to pass
made bad jokes, use profanity during lectures, he hate to see people chewing gum, like to tease with cute girl/student, doesnt covers his material in understanable fashion.
he is a very hard teacher. doesn't really teach. does not explain! and be careful he does not like questions and does not like to repeat himself. he curses toooo much. his bk doesnt make sense. just be careful for this teacher. some like him but most do not like him. he does not know how to teach!!
Very Bad teacher. Tests Consists of questions not even taught. Tends to stray away from subject and talk about unimportant things. The only thing that was good about his class was laughing at his jokes.

Auzu is arrogant and has a bad accent. He wrote his own Econ book and it is crap. His lectures are lengthy and have nothing to do with the class. Worst teacher I ever had.

he is the worst teacher that i ever had. i decided to no longer attend community college after his class. complete waste of time and money, i didn't learn a single thing. he wrote his own book, which is written in the same manner as his teaching, completely confusing, and in poor english.
Well, Mr Auza does have his own way of teaching. However, I am now attending CSUN and to tell everyone the truth, He is the best Econ Teacher that I have had. His book was more help than the textbook that I had to read for the upper division class. Read it and analyze the book to learn the most..
Worst teacher at LACC. Arrogant, picks on students. His book sux as much as he does, waste of money, can't even spell. Can put you to sleep fast. Must suck up to him to get A, best to bring him coffee in the morning.
I had Auza for Econ 1 and 2 and recommend any prospective business student to enroll into another college to take this course. His class is not hard, it is unstructured and imoral. He is definitly not an intellectual in the least bit and is obviously still around because of his tenor as a teacher.

Very tough class, requires MANY hours of study and even then it is still confusing.Teacher explains the concepts but wont let students give feedback.It's the subject that is the main problem on the most part for any student.Teacher is ok but "needs" to make exams much clearer/easier and "REVIEW" it.

what u have to do just fallow him what he says and underline it beacause exatly like that in the test. And he reapets couple of time what is the important and what is not. The test is hard but he curves it and u easy get A if the class size small.

my advice is take econ courses at another school or when you transfer because both Auza and Holzner suck. they are the only full time teachers of econ at this school at it is unfair.
dropped d class after two meetings cuz its hard to understand wat he is sayin. he thinks so highly of his self.. i think he shud try to learn how to speak english clearly first before teachin important subjects lyk this.
It's hard for me to understand what's he's teaching because he has such a heavy accent and a serious denture problem. Economics is a hard subject but he makes it even worse.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! TRUST ME...he basically wants you to teach yourself by reading the book ahead...the problem is he wrote the book so you still won't be able to understand anything. Then, he'll pick on you and say you're not thinking when he can't even explain his point clearly.

Amazingly rude. Don't chew gum in his class, he still thinks its high school. Not helpful at all before/after class. Won't answer emails. Try your best not to speak up in class because he will make a fool of you. Don't listen to him, just read the book... it works better. He is very confusing.

This professor is an ass wipe. Do anything you can not to take him. He doesn't have a real job, so he screws everyone else's life over by giving them bad grades. He will ruin your GPA... just because he can.

Don't take him! Take the ITV version instead, with Diane Cunningham if possible. She has a phD and is very clear. Auza is confusing, rude, and mean. He wrote the required textbook, which is awful and costs almost a hundred books.

He is the worest lecture I have ever met in my life. His entire lectures are nothing but bosting about himself and the useless book Written by him..I think, rather than lecturing he should take some ESL Classes for the betterment of his students.
Worst but the only econ pro here. Dont understand his lecture and it gets even worse when you try to read his book. Dont feel discouraged if you dont learn anything from him, cos no one does.

Good at teaching numbers and graphs, other than that, not too helpful. Read the book thouroughly and you might set the curve. Gives extra credit points. Homework is helpful and so is attendance. Tests are decades old, hence the curve. Got an A in both his classes without trying too hard. Interested in people whose views are different than his.

Don't take this class unless you are a serious student. If you need the material spoon-fed to you, don't take this class. Professor Auza is funny, intelligent and interesting to listen to, but has no time for lazy dummies who don't do the homework. If you read the book, try to understand it, and do the homework you will do well.
not too bad , but not an easy teacher, so be ready to do work and study hard as well . tests are not easy neither. he is short tempered and will scream at you if you dont know the answer. he makes funny jokes sometimes but don't take it personal. i was able to pull out a B from him , and worked hard for that . This guy is the exact reason I am against Tenure... He cusses constantly even at students. Cusses if people don't buy the book, (come to find out it is written by him). This type of teacher is a reason why community colleges are looked down upon as institutions of higher education.
I took this class for the summer session not knowing much about the subject. He tries to teach by asking the class as a whole questions. Goes with the class' pace, not too demanding, nice and funny, if ur absent u can turn in H.W. late or make up tests, as long as u let him know ahead of time. Got an "A", I recommend this class.
Attended 8 day session. Very rude teacher. Frequently uses profanity towards students. Does not help students if he thinks the question is "b.s.", which is about 80% of the time. He's originally from Bolivia, so his accent is very strong, sometimes rather difficult to understand him.

Well, I guess, I'm in the wrong place,cause he doesn't seem like he is a professor.Don't even bother to buy his book and listen to his profanity based speaches, and comments about national cuisine of all ethnic groups in the class. He is the most awful teacher I have ever seen!
I couldn't get a word of what he said. It was hard to understand, sometimes I got to wonder if the subject he was talking was related to the class. He seems to be a cool guy, but as a professor, totaly not my type.
I dont know about other people but it was an easy A for me. You just have to read the book couple times and you can get an A...

Economics 1. Class was composed of lectures. There were 3 exams (lowest one which he dropped) and a final (not cumulative). There was extra credit for answering certain questions in class and doing homework problems on the board. Professor Auza is from Bolivia, has a strong accent, cusses often, and is a no-nonsense kind of guy.
Professor Auza is very hard-nosed. His class is super easy. He curves all 4 exams, drops the lower of the first 3, and gives out extra credit points. If you are sensitive do not take his class because he cusses, is very stubborn, will make fun of students, and doesn’t take any bullshi*. I recommend the class because it is easy to pass.
After reading the comments for this Prof. it is a wonder how professors like him are still teaching. Not like he needs it, since his always bragging Prof. Auza is till this day trying to prove something for his other shortcomings in his life. Teaching after 20years think how many students did he not respect yet he ask for respect. NOT AN INTELLECT.
auza is like a comedy act. he loves to humiliate students, and he doesn't realize that the only reason students do bad is b/c he's a****ty teacher. he uses offensive language. He wrote the text, which is so outdated.. he's still talking about 80's issues, then updates it with one paragraph concerning recent issues.****ty dressing **** rag!!!
After 4 weeks, I finally walked out on break tonight & will not be back. Auza wrote the textbook he uses, which is outdated, grammatically incorrect, and horribly outdated at best. He wants you to learn his way or the highway, is incomprehensible 1/2 the time and is the worst teacher I've EVER encountered. He IS a proud American and decent man.
Professor Auza is not as bad as some of these comments make him out to be. Yes, he is very cocky and self absorbed. His book is extremely difficult to undersrtand. However, the class is relatively kickback. Read chapters 12-20, take 4 exams, one is dropped and all are curved. He likes people that won't give up on themselves and drop the class.

You can pass both econ 1 & 2 with him if you play your cards right. Don't sit in the front, don't be a chatter box or get on his nerves. Keep quiet, invest a little work and just show up. Don't drop because you failed an exam or two, if he sees your trying he WILL pass you.

This man can't even speak English!! Don't waste your time! The econ teachers at LACC suck! Auza can't answer your questions. He is more interested in trying to look like he's from the Bolivian drug cartel than he is about whether his students are understanding him. Auza's a mixed bag. Personally I had no problems with him. He knows the subject but conveys it in a harsh manner. If your easily intimidated or can't handle swearing he's not for you. If that doesn't rock your boat and you love economics, you'll be fine. Not hard to pass the class.
You will like him if your personality is compatible with his delivery of the subject. He knows the material but can't lecture well because of his ego. The trick is to show him your trying to learn and he'll pass you. Don't get discouraged and stick it out. Also if your a girl he like to talk dirty, has spanking fantaises and likes to be called dadd
The worst professor I have ever encountered in my 22 years of school. There is never a day where he shows up to class on time which goes to show how much he cares about his students. No matter how hard you try, you'll never get the grade you want so this class and professor is a waste of time.
Even if you have a background in Economics you will not be clear about what this guy is talking about.
Took him 30 years ago. Back then was frustrated with him. He kept cussing, talking about everything but economics. However, looking back, he was my best prof. By following his investment tips in real estate I became a multi millionaire. I also remember his motto - if you are busy, you don?t have time to make money! This is very true. Auza is Good!
This professor might not be for everyone, but If you are really looking for a genuine Economics perspective and teaching, He's the man. His only weakness is his accent, but If you have a parent with an accent, that that shouldn't be a problem. If you put in even moderate effort in his class, I would consider him one of the best professors at LACC.
Good professor, hard tests, interesting classes and had good laughs.
