He is really funny and relates material to real life. Tests are clearly outlined although it is difficult to understand him sometimes.
i love enrique! he was fun helpful and made the 8am class worth going to
Enrique was funny at first, but his daily threats of you are going to fail became very discouraging. He went back on promise made a few months eailer. I was very interested in Spanish before I meet Enrique now not so much. I went to Spain after taking his class which I recieved a D+ in, and I got a long better than fine so what does that tell ya?
Enrique was awesome, although sometimes he was difficult to understand because of his accent, but his tests were quite easy and there are few notes.
enrique is nice, he tries to be funny, but he doesnt speak enough spanish or request enough spanish to be spoken in his classes. sometimes the language barrier makes him hard to understand or causes him to misunderstand his students. if he asks you if u are sure about the answer to a question no matter what SAY YES
Enrique is great...(not too hard on the eyes either!!HAHA). He is a little difficult to understand sometimes, but he knows what he is talking about and keeps class interesting. Notes are minimal, and he tells you exactly what you need to know for the exams. Has a sense of humor that might offend some. I would recommend him.
Enrique sucks, his lack of teaching skills is detrimental to his students. It's a language class. SPEAK SPANISH. Enrique makes it easy to pass his courses, but you learn the minimum. Tests are easy because he tells you EXACTLY what is on them. If you want a good grade take spanish with Enrique. If you want to learn spanish DONT.
There are barely any notes and he does tell you exactly what the tests are going to be, except the final. But I barely learned any spanish in his class. Taking notes would have been helpful so you have something to refer to.
Enrique is great! He has a really good sense of humour... he's very Spanish. He's super nice too. He should probably speak spanish a little more in his class... but he's still a really good teacher.
His lack of teaching experiance doesnt make up for his horrible attitude and demeaning nature. What a Joke.
Worst excuse for a teacher ever! Rude, demeaning, offensive, disrespectful and the list goes on. When a class average drops by 20% when a new teacher comes in, there is something wrong with the teacher not the students. The man can't even spell cities that are in his native language and country. Pathetic.
Very good prof! I failed the course because I didn't attend classes, I made sure I had him again as an instructor when I repeated the class the next term!
Great proff, funny as hell, and cute!
I had him 3 times for Spanish. Wasn't overly found of him the first time, but he grew on me. You get to know his teaching style and his exams. If you attend his class and know your stuff he will like you. He can be serious at times. Very approachable for help. He likes sweets, so bring him a treat to the oral exam and you'll be fine.
Enrique Lopez is such a boring prof. All he does in class is make up mediocre power points and read off of them in class and then the next class, we do the questions in the textbook. He doesn't do anything else to prepare for the class. His knowledge doesn't extend past what is in the textbook.
This prof is so unknowledgable about the subject. People would ask him questions and he wouldn't be able to answer them. His knowledge doesn't extend past what is in the textbook. He marked us very unfairly on our essays. He marked based on the work cited and not on the proficiency of the language. Hello this is a language class.
I have taken two other spanish classes and rost with Enrique..He's pretty good in the spanish and was alright for rost, but THIS class, if you're thinking of taking it..BEWARE!!! It's extremely difficult and he has no idea what he's doing..all the information is taken from the textbook and his expectations are way too high..it's a 3000 level course
Enrique is charming at first... but beware! He is ridiculous. He expects way too much for the level of the class, and he does not grade fairly. He focuses on things that are totally irrelevant to the class, and criticizes individuals for having different opinions. His knowledge does not go beyond the textbook. I would not recommend this class.
He was a good teacher, very enthusiastic about teaching, but it seemed like he forgot that we are learning spanish and that we need more explanations and examples of the spanish language.
I thought he was great. Tests were clearly outlined and easy. He doesn't speak enough spanish in the class so for that reason I will choose another teacher next semester but he is funny and if you study and show up to class, you will do well.
The textbook is used extensively. He used Google to relate the course material to things outside of the class and supplement his powerpoint grammar lectures. I appreciate that every student is asked to participate and answer questions. He is always sure to ask if anyone needs clarification on a topic. He'll ding your final mark for poor attendance.
useless teacher. I taught my self.
Very helpful teacher. Passionate about what he is teaching.
He is too passionate about Spain. We had to write an essay and students that I talked to were to afraid of writing anything they didn't like about Spain because they were afraid of him giving them a bad mark. His power points are useless and he likes to ramble on about one subject, making the class long and boring.
Very easy class. Enrique's section (Spain) was probably the most varied and "tourist-friendly" one. I didn't think he was particularly boring, especially compared to the other sections. As for the essay, he even told us that he wished for more critical papers, so I'm not really sure what the comment under was talking about.
great teach and great class
I loved this class. He made it so enjoyable and if you attend every class you will do well in this course. You know exactly what you have to study and he is very good at reviewing each classes and going through examples. Loved him as a prof, so happy I got him!!
First week of class was very confusing and at first I regretted it. But as time went on, the course gained traction and came full circle. Highly recommend. Easy marker, wants all his students to do well.
Enrique was very knowledgeable on his area of study. His passion for his own culture rubs off on you while you are listening to him. Being in this class made me want to go and experience the Spanish culture that he has lived and breathed for several years
He is an incredible prof! We had him for a gned and he was the best prof I have ever had. TAKE HIS CLASS !
This teacher is outstanding. Every basic GNED class I had with any other teacher was a bore. Enrique made every moment enjoyable and also picked some out of this world content. EVERYONE should take his classes. His passion is what all teachers should be made of.
Great prof. His class is interactive and fun.
Enrique was one of the best prof's that I have ever had. He is always willing to go above and beyond to help students, and really cares about the people in his class. The concepts covered in class are a little Spain heavy, but it was an incredible class where I learned a lot and had an absolute blast! TAKE ENRIQUE'S CLASS YOU WONT REGRET IT!!
Best prof at Mount Royal. Willing to help his students. Just show up and you will get good marks. I would definitely taken again :)!
Take this class if you are looking to develop anxiety disorders and feel comfortable with public humiliation. I would take his class if you go to the doctors frequently, because you're going to have to get tested for cancer at the end of every class.
Enrique is very passionate about Spanish (Latin America and Spain) literature and women's studies. Strongly recommend him! Even though he's a hard marker on papers, you won't regret taking his class because you'll finish this course loving Spanish Literature! He's always there to help you. Tests and quizzes are easy (if you do your hmwk and reading
Instructions for assignments are so vague you have no idea what to expect or how you're going to be graded. Expects extensive participation but if you don't agree with him he'll twist your words and be pretty degrading. Seems to hate a few select people for no reason and picks on people A LOT. Wouldn't recommend at all
His energy and humour is contagious. All the lessons and overload of facts stuck with me because of the way he emphasizes the information. Also his persona is incredibly charming. Spain is my favourite section but overall I would love take this a class with him again.
Although his expectations are some what unclear, they also are not very high. This class is an easy A, as long as you are willing to write papers that match what Enrique's opinion is about the given subject. He is a fair marker, and is a nice guy but he definitely is not very open to listening to opinions that differ from his own.
Enrique is a nice guy. There is one group presentation and you have to read 6 short stories and a novel. If you agree with his points of view & participate in class & read the stories + novel you should have no problem getting a A or higher. He is approachable and his lectures aren't to boring!
Enrique is a pretty easy going prof, his assignments are vague but it allows for more creativity and you can pretty much talk about anything if you relate it to the course material. Attend and participate in his class and you're pretty much guaranteed a good mark
A fun teacher, really helpful. I've found him to be really helpful at any point during my education and is willing to provide assistance while in his class and after. His instructions can be a bit vague when it comes to writing papers but again, if you ask him for further instruction he is more than willing to provide it. Nice guy.
Enrique is one of the funniest profs on campus if you actually get his jokes (unlike my class which felt awkward). Extremely clear expectations when he prepares u for what's on the quiz/test. Although his powerpoints are crappy, he even says in class u have to attend in order to know info. Puts a lot of humour into his teaching so I would recommend
Very easy going prof. His slides are very straight forward and easily correspond to the testing material. He clearly tells you the content that you need to study and is there to help you do well. He is very funny and enthusiastic which makes the class even better.
Enrique is the best professor I have ever had at MRU. He is very passionate and has an excellent teaching method. I highly recommend taking his classes because they are insightful and educational. Participate, attend class and you will do well. The best professor in my 4 years of experience.
Enrique was definitely a surprise for me. At first, I didn't like this teaching style because he was a little bit passive agressive. However, he is very flexible with marking. He is relatively an easy marker. You need to show up for every quiz in Hispanic cinema, so you don't lose that 5%. All tests were written and no multiple choice.
Not my kind of prof. Talks to himself allot and refers to himself in the third person. Says NOTHING about tests, and gives ALLOT of information that he never tests on, but expects you to know - if your good with dates, names, and attendance you'll do fine, if not, expect to be board and made fun of, and get a B.
Enrique's class is easy if you study his quiz guides and follow his assignment outlines carefully. He tries to be funny and engaging which I appreciate. Participating in discussions is recommended because his lectures can get boring easily. Attendance is part of your final grade so try not to miss too much lectures.
Enrique is by far the best professor I have ever had at MRU. He keeps the lectures interesting and is a hilarious guy. The projects were super easy and fun to do and even better... NO final! I would take every class that Enrique teaches if I could. Highly recommend.
At first I didn't know if i liked the class because sometimes it was hard to follow what he was saying. But I now like it because it is more simple then I first thought, he is a very fair and easy marker so it is not hard to do well in this class! Just listen to what he has to say and do the few assignments he gives and you should do well.
Enrique is a beauty, awesome class.. must take. Greatest professor known to MRU.
Very enjoyable and interesting! Lecture powerpoint are partially in Spanish and somewhat confusing so going to class is vital but classes are always entertaining. NO FINAL and each test is fairly easy if you study using the guide he provides. All written response though. Easy and creative assignments, with one oral presentation. Highly recommend!!
Enrique places a high importance on participation however, goes about it in the wrong way. He fosters an environment where you feel intimidated and scared to share your opinion as he will most likely shut it down if it does not align with his beliefs. PS take this class if you want to learn about Spain and only Spain.
Looking to take a GENERAL EDUCATION class on Communities and Societies? Sorry you've just signed up for SPAIN 101. This class is literally just spain for an entire semester. You live far away and wont always make it right at the beginning of class? Sorry you're getting a 0 for participation, also Enrique does not understand the concept of dropbox.
Dr Lopez is hilarious. At first, I didn't understand his humor and had a tough time understanding him with his accent, but as the class continued this all became easier. Projects are easy, he is clear about what he expects. Great prof. Would take again in a heartbeat.
Enrique is an awesome professor. Unfortunately, I had him during Covid19 and I never got to go to his actual lectures. However, his online format is awesome. He has a clear criteria for his assignments and the best part, there are no exams! He is very passionate about his home country Spain, and that passion grows on to you!
Enrique is a great instructor that is very passionate about the cultural and influential aspects of Spain. The assignments for this course are very engaging, fun, and not too difficult. Engagement in class is encouraged to broaden the discussion and gain participation marks. Overall, I would definitely take another class from Enrique
Enrique is a pretty cool guy!! Sometimes his accent can be hard to understand, but his lectures are easy to follow and he grades assignments pretty easily.
If you have the chance to take a class with Enrique, TAKE IT! You will not regret it this guy is probably one of my favorite profs at Mount Royal! Makes lectures fun and interesting and cares about your success! Definitely a great choice when looking for a good Foundation GNED Cluster 3 Professor and Class! Great GPA booster!
Enrique is an insanely easy marker. I received an 100% in the course and everyone does as long as you hand in your assignments and put some sort of effort in. He has written his own textbook and therefore says it's mandatory for the course but as long as you show up to lectures you don't need to buy the textbook.
Prof Lopez was so great. Although I never really attended his lectures, he always responded to my emails promptly and gave timely feedback. I highly recommend taking a class with Enrique. He is also an easy marker so this class was a breeze! Take a class with Enrique, you won't regret it.
I was unsure of this class at first as Enrique has a unique way of teaching. However, as time went on I enjoyed going to class as it was interesting material. This class relates to communities and societies heavily through Spain. We had two tests and 3 assignments. Attendance is worth 5%. If you put in some effort, you will get an A in this class.
If you are looking for an easy A, take this class with Enrique. He's a king, v passionate, and an insanely easy grader. I'm planning on dipping out on a diff elective in order to take another class that he teaches. idk HOW he only has a 3.5 on here, he should have a 5/5, I literally never had an issue with him, he made my semester so chill.
Enrique is such a nice prof. He marks really easy. This class was mainly just watching films about females and spain. The projects and exams were pretty easy. Instructions were sometimes unclear for projects but if you do your best you'll still get a good mark. It's kind of a boring class but boring>hard.
Enrique is nice + funny but I feel like I'm crazy reading these reviews. This was the most pointless class I have ever taken, his "lectures" were nonsense and the projects are high school level. His expectations are very low + it was a very easy A+ which is probably where his high ratings come from. Felt like a joke of a class, very Mickey Mouse.
He is not clear on how to do projects and has a lot of work for some assignments. For one of the assignments, we were supposed to write a 22 paragraph photo essay and a video project. Focused only on the country of Spain and does not answer questions clearly. Although he is a easier grader than most professors, he assignments tougher work
I have not finished the course yet, but Enrique is a fantastic professor. There is a decent amount of reading assigned, however it is Enrique's own textbook and he usually goes through the topic of the assigned reading in great enough detail so you don't have to stress. Show up and do the assignment—you'll be fine! Enrique is passionate
Easy grader, take this class. Only downside is he marks participation, and his lectures are useless.
He gives a lot of assignments but he grades SUPER EASY! you can just bs them lol
Enrique is a good prof. There are 2 projects, 2 tests, and an essay. If you put in a good amount of effort you will get AMAZING grades. He also gave us a study sheet for some of our tests that clearly outlined what we needed to know!
Enrique has been great. At first I was unsure about how I would do in this class, but he goes over assignment expectations if you ask. He is also super helpful if you email him with questions. If you *try* on your projects you'll get a good grade. Sometimes can go off topic but he's funny. Graded on 2 tests, 2 assignments, and an essay :)
In my opinion, people only take his class for an easy gpa boost. With only 2 midterms, 2 assignments and a class presentation. His classes are useless btw and sometimes its hard to understand what he is saying cuz of the heavy accent. His classes are boring and he marks attendance. Overall, if you want a laid back relaxed class take him.
Easy GPA booster. He's a great, funny guy. I would have gotten an A+ if I asked and participated in class. Participation matters. Not much work assigned and test terms are easy.
Only negative thing is attendance is graded but amazing professor
Enrique is a decent prof. He is an extremely easy grader, the easiest I've had. I could have easily gotten an A+ had I attended, but I found his lectures boring. It was useless to attend class aside from getting the participation/attendance mark. He posted all the test questions before the test so you know exactly what to expect
If you don't mind listening to lectures and aren't a baby when it come to having your ideas challenged, this is a fun class. I don't know why people are complaining about learning about Spain, prof makes it clear that that is what the class is about. I felt it was clear what was expected and if it wasn't, you could ask the prof. Highly recommend.
One of the best professors I've encountered. As long as you put in the effort and follow the assignment instructions it is very easy to finish this class with a 95+ grade. The lectures are a little bit boring but overall this is an amazing GPA booster. Highly recommended.
Enrique has to be one of my favorite professors at mru so far. He is such a fair grader and his lectures are fun to attend as well. There are assignments including individual presentations, essays, and tests.
Lectures were not my favourite but it is pretty easy to get a good mark, just show up and make sure you look at the questions that will be on the test.
He was amazing. At first, I was afraid of how I would do in his class but I got a couple 100's on some of his assignments. He isn't a tough marker and helps you out a lot on assignments if you're having trouble, just don't go to him last minute. He gives you a study guide for tests and it's useful, unlike other profs.
AMAZING prof!! So understanding and funny!! Course was about female cinema in Spain and I learned a lot from it!! Would take again 10000%
genuinely the best teacher ever. easy grader, hilarious, actually made me care about spain. if y'all need a gned course, take this one. best choice of my like. i adore this man. if you make an effort, he will notice. tests are short answer, so you can show how well you know what he's talking about. attendance + participation is graded!
SPAN 2220 was an easy class, there was a 5-min oral presentation, video group project, photo essay, infographic poster and two big tests. They are pretty easy. In this class, you basically watch movies and learn about their context. Although some films were interesting, you are basically paying A LOT of money to watch movies. It is not worth it.
Enrique is a great guy, great professor. He can go on tangents every now and again, but he knows what he's talking about. You're graded on a 5 minute oral presentation, infographic poster, partner video project and 2 midterm exams. He grades fairly kindly! Participation is really important and he enjoys the interaction.
Honestly, the course wasn't hard at all. Lets just say, the prof is not the best..
Easy marker and get ready to participate.
Enrique is amazing. He is not only hilarious but also passionate about teaching. His class sparks important debates among students. It is very easy to get a good grade in this class, and I'm grateful to have it as a GPA booster this semester. I definitely recommend him!!!
Easiest A+ you will ever get. He will grow on your during lectures I promise. Chill and entertaining course.
I respect him my grade was a lack of attendance but if you have a doctors note it doesn't matter for what day your note ends. He will say he grants an extension then give you a zero. My doctors note was 2 weeks long and he gave me a zero before my note was even over. I had a Concussion However besides that he's a good Teacher
Honestly this class is an easy A, show up, and he will love you. He is so inclusive and wants everyone to feel welcomed. If you try, ask questions answered hand in your work on time you'll do great
Definitely should take GNED 1303 with him. The lectures are very engaging and he has very clear marketing criteria. Just show up to every class and would defend get good grades. An easy A+.
