Awful teacher. He is hard to understand and doesn't answer your questions.
hard to understand and doesn't explain himself very well.
He has trouble with the english language, and can't answer any of your questions. All the quizes are unannounced. Quizes and homework and tests are all worth the same amount. He never curves test or quiz scores, and he's impossible to learn from.

How in the F*** did this guy ever get hired? He has hard accent, its difficult to understand. also, assigns homework on material that he doesnt go over in class, and than grades it! tests are hardcore, and makes you do work that is not part of the class requirement. STAY FAR FAR AWAY.
He doesn't make any sense at all. He is not a fair Teacher. He seems to favor certain people in the class. Doesn't Speak English well, uses greek letters. Horrible. Save yourself from failing don't take this teacher. Horrible Teacher!!!!!
This guy is extremely unprofessional, and looks like howie mandell. It's very hard to understand him, dont even bother asking questions if you dont understand him because he cant answer them. His writing on the board is nearly hyrogliphic...
The looks like howie mandel, only dirtier. I really wish they'd start hiring instructors who spoke decent english, is this why we are paying so much to go to school? They should give you credits for learngint to read and understand giberish if you pass thi
C'mon, people, the accent isn't that bad. He's also a decent guy when you need help- very generous with his time. He's probably a genius in his native language- sometimes struggles for words in English. Overall not bad.
This man should bring a toddler to class with him, so the kid can translate his writing on the board for us.. its that bad. I hope deaf because hearing him speak will only confuse you further.. we are patying this much to go to school and learn from people that dont speak english..? Do not take this class. If Howy Mandel and a Bum had a baby..
soooo confusing
If you take Makover, YOU WILL FAIL..I promise you that!!! He's won't help you at all. He expects you to get math tutoring because he can't teach the math on his own. WARNING: DON'T TAKE HIM EVER!!!
If you are good at math then it is easy. Hard to understand when speaking, he confuses himself when teaching because he doesnt plan and his test are easy if you do the homework but his final exam is hard.
He lectures straight from the book and doesn't come up for air. This class was a miserable experience. Tested on brand new material (given day before test), and on stuff not presented in the class at all. His accent is hard to understand. Won't slow down the pace when asked. Used every minute of class time for new material, and only take home tests
he's a nice guy. has an accent but he tries hard to come up with the right words and he does know english and he's not the easiest to understand but you can understand him. he does offer help if you need it and there is other help if needed.
this guy stinks like none other, tests r impossiable!! and can barely speak english, let alone write numbers on a board. DO NOT TAKE CLASSES WITH HIM!!!
(Complex Analysis) The professor couldn't write in understandable English, (or Greek), couldn't speak in clear English or Greek (we spent an entire class wondering why he was saying "Oh m'God" over and over until we realized he was saying "Omega"). The text used in the class was useless, and the lecture, thus, even more so.
um he didn't have a book for the class, and told us he didn't know what he was going to be doing...and asked us what we were expecting from the class... we don't know what he's talking about, although we did get to make musical instruments out of recyclables one day =/ still i don't understand anything he says...
He is truly an awful teacher and he does not know what he is doing. Being in the honors program i am obviously not stupid. He is unable to give any examples of his own, only ones from the book. He gives a lot of homework and his tests are almost impossible. His accent is absolutely awful. Dont take a class especiaaly this one if you want to pass.
He's just a bad teacher. He had no lesson plan for the whole semester. He doesn't offer any kind of extra credit. He's impossible to understand. He rushes all the math - we constantly have to ask him to slow down so we can understand what he's talking about. The subject matter was very advanced - at least 300 level. Avoid at all costs!!!
The worst teacher I have ever had. That includes all my undergrad studies too. I would NEVER want to take another class from this man. He knows Mathematics but doesn't have a clue on how to teach it!!
don't know how to discribe this guy, if I knew him before, I would like to stay home and wait for next semester to the class what I need, just in order to aviod him, if you wanna do well, just do not take him, if nobody takes him, what will the committee do?We all know, so if you see the things about this guy here, don't take him or you'll hate life
don't waste your time and money because you will hate your life for the whole semester. unless u are a genius- then you're fine
Impossible to understand what he is trying to say. Takes examples directly from the books and tries to cover too much material too quickly. Do NOT take his class unless you enjoy suffering and failing.
STAY AWAY! Foreign accent cant understrand a thing he grunts about! if you need any help he tells you to go to the math help center. His tests are set up to not just solve a problem but to EXPLAIN how and why the problem works!
dont take him he sucks and you will not learn anything
If you can wait until the course you need is taught by someone else ... do so !!! Otherwise, you will need to teach the material to yourself which is extremely painful and time consuming. He offers no worked out examples to illustrate concepts and is either extremely lazy or bored (or both). Worst math prof I've ever had.
Believe the hype, this guy is awful. Assumes everyone knows calculus and are just there for amusment or something. Does not teach!!
Dr. Makeover was easy and fun. He did fun in class problems where everyone collaborated to answer them- we learned a lot that way. His exams were easy and fun, I smiled when I took them. You are all duchebags who don't like to study.
Do not take this class with him! He is horrible and has no idea how to teach. Not a good professor at all!And he is impossible to understand.
Unclear lectures, does not give step by step explanations (kind of necessary in a maths class), completely unhelpful when people have problems or questions.
Just do the work in this class. Its Calculus and its concepts aren't necessarily going to click the first time you see them. Online quizzes and the in class test grading system works in your favor (Highest grade is worth the most). He's very easy to approach when you need help too. Just put in the work and you will do fine.
He enjoys teaching and makes class fun. His test grading system works for you. Just do the homework problems and the online quizzes are simple and the tests are always easier than the study guides.
Prof Makover is an excellent professor in and outside the classroom. He is extremely helpful, and he will notice if you try hard. No matter what you must persist, he can be a bit more demanding than other professors but it is well worth the time and effort. He will only try to help you. If you have him for a prof and need help, go to office hours.
AVOID AT ALL COST - This guy knows his stuff but his lectures are almost impossible to comprehend. The entire class has no clue what the deal is. Please don't waist your time with this class.
One word can describe this man Incomprehensible. Dropped the course because he is hard as hell and I could not understand a word he said, and his writing cannot be read by anyone in the class. If you can avoid him do so.
Very nice teacher. Very helpful and always willing to answer questions in and especially out of class. Hard to understand at first but you'll get used to it. He doesn't always explain things is a comprehensable manner but ask him to elaborate more or see him in his office and you'll be fine. Book is very helpful for understanding problems.
Honestly the worst teacher I've ever had. The online homework he gives is a real pain. The tests have the most random questions possible. Avoid this guy and you will be good
Not a horrible teacher, but what he goes over in class doesn't often match what is assigned in the homework, which doesn't match what he puts on exams. You'll end up studying a ton of material, and then use 40%-50% of it on an actual exam. 60%+ on Final or you don't pass.
Go to class and take notes, make sure you stay on top of homework online (which is right from the book)&you will do fine. He's very helpful and is easier to understand than most prof at ccsu. not sure why he has so many neg. comments. the effort you put in reflects your grade.
awful, cant understand a word he says
nice guy. very helpful if you go to his office hours. questions on hw will be on exam so do the hw(problems come from book). you def need to work hard in his class!
Thick accent, bad handwriting. Very nice guy, very helpful during office hours. Extra credit can be earned on all exams, although no one did well enough to earn any this semester. Lecture is usually straight out of the book; make sure you ask questions and get him doing examples instead. Supplemented course with YouTube videos: tests went up 20%.
Very unclear with everything he explains. Not very helpful at all. I ended up having to drop the class and retake it with another professor.
He is a nice guy, but I did terrible in his class because I couldn't understand him.
Smart guy, and is not as difficult to understand as some will say. His accent takes some time getting used to. Good natured and kind hearted person who goes out of his way to help struggling students.
He is Incomprehendable, and cannot teach the course because he knows it too well. By that I mean he knows it so well that he cant understand why someone cannot know it. Ex when you know how to ride a bike, or know how to swim, how could someone not know?
Here's the real truth about Dr. Makover. Yes he is hard to understand the first few classes, but you get used to it. He goes over plenty of examples in class and homework is a pain but helpful. Tests come right from his study guides. People in the class who didn't do well didn't do the work or study. I did all the work and studied and got an A.
Impossible to understand. Jumps all over the board and changes topic all the time. He is a master of going on tangents. Do not take his class!!!!!!!!!!!!#!#
Nice Class, I worked hard for my grade. The hw assignments helped out wit overall grade. Cool Professor
The level of knowledge is impressive. He asks questions specifically to find what the student doesn't understand in solving the problem. The subsequent explanation gives a receptive student the tools to go forward. I recommend highly for those in the sciences and math fields. His lectures may be difficult for students not majoring in these topics.
Tough class, much homework. He wears sandals and shorts ERRDAY. Snow? Sandals. Not very good at explaining concepts, always messing up. Messy handwriting, does not let students use notecard or cheatsheet on tests, lots to remember.
First off, HORRIBLE professor. Don't even take him at all. Avoid at all costs. Don't expect to make up or re-take a test if you fail. Theres no chance of improving your grade. I have an A on all the homework because I dedicate my time, yet I am still failing. Tests are not even as close as to the study guides. This is CALCULUS. It is a hard class!
Upbeat, nice guy. Always willing to help. His grading system allows for mistakes throughout the semester. Be a serious student and you will do fine in his classes. I was actually very disappointed that he went on sabbatical this year and that I might not be able to have another class with him.
Not a bad guy, he's at times humorous and obviously passionate about what he does. That said, NOT the professor to take if you are not a math major. His accent and writing can make him hard to follow, particularly at the pace he goes through material. He had a hard time conveying the material to most of my class. Over 50% dropped, more failed...
Eran Makover should not be teaching precalc. Anyone who is going into a math heavy major, avoid this professor at all costs. He will give you a test review and the test will look nothing like the review shown. When you asks questions in class about the homework he will confuse you more by answering them. Pick any professor besides him for math.
I have never had a problem with math or any other professor, I am a mech. engineering major and needed this course. 40+ hw problems a night, study guides for exams have no relevance. Can't explain himself or the subject due to his lack of knowledge of the English language. Class started w/ 23 students, its down to 7. Please, avoid him at all costs.
This guy is terrible. I'm a ME major, this course is needed, and I have never gotten below a 84 in any previous math class. Makovers handwriting is bad, he jumps all over the place, he'll change numbers in examples or put an equation into mathmatica if he can't figure it out, and he goes way to fast. Avoid him at all costs.
When it comes to teaching, he doesn't know how to do it. He may understand math himself, but the way that he teaches it leaves everyone utterly confused. I know that it wasn't just me that wasn't getting the material because the whole class was completely clueless every day. I had to teach myself all the material and spent hours learning it at home
Don't listen to the people saying that you CANNOT understand him, yes he has an accent but you get over it after the first class. 20% of the class is online homework and if you utilize his office hours you should get 100's. Three exams and a final, with your best exam being 30%, second best 20%, worst 10%. Very helpful outside of class!!
The absolute worst math professor ive ever had. Doesnt know how to teach whatsoever. If you have a question, dont even bother asking because it definitely wont get answered. Makes you teach yourself and if you have a question his answer is ask the person next to you. Terrible. 0/10 professor.
You have to get past his French accent. Once you get past that, get ready for confusing teaching, 0 clarification, lots of homework (online quizzes graded on accuracy) and a few pop quizzes. He doesn't explain things very well and is quite confusing.
He Cannot teach, he undoubtedly knows the material but is incapable of explaining it in a way that is understandable. He has horrible hand writing and jumps all over the board making it impossible to follow his teaching. He doesnt offer help to students who ask and he supplies test review and then test you on material that wasnt on the review.
WORST PROFESSOR OF MY LIFE!! AVOID HIM!!! He's awful, the grading is completely inconsistent, he's hard to understand because of his accent and he's extremely rude sometimes. Don't expect help from him!! He is an awful professor and I wish I never took him. SAVE YOURSELF THE PAIN!!
He isnt as bad as people make him out to be but at the same time his in class teaching isnt helpful. Your grades in 3 tests, a final, and homework. I passed by working in the homework until I got a 100 and I took time to learn the material outside of class. I was 1 of 2 people who passed my class
I took Dr. Makover's Calc I class a long time ago. Years have passed and I still see reviews that mirror the horror of my Calculus class. Avoid him at all costs. I dropped his class and retook it with another professor... took that professor for most of my other math courses.. Got A's in all of them.
The professor had many students that found the material challenging and does not try to explain the material thoroughly. I attended his office hours and even that was useless. He told me because Im not doing so well, that I should try again next semester with a smile on his face. I would not recommend taking his class unless you already know the m
Professor Makover is probably one of the worst professor I have ever come in contact with, barely explains stuff in class and runs over it very quickly with no examples. He refers to our knowledge and compares it to 4th and 5th graders, even though I have heard him say multiple times that "Our knowledge is probably better than his."
His class helped extend my knowledge of Calculus. Even though he has an accent, I had no trouble understanding him. He's clearly very knowledgeable about the subject and able to explain it clearly. He went over all the homework and explained any problems students had difficulty with. He also told us what we needed to study to do well on tests.
He helped me when I was struggling with homework and he also encouraged lots of practice for tests.
Homework every class containing about 20 questions. Each assignment takes about an hour to complete. Couldn't fully understand his demos.
Do not take this class whatever you do. If you want to learn calculus you are better looking at youtube tutorials than learning it here. If you do not spend 5+ hours studying the homework (Given every 2 days) then you will fail the class. If you do take Eran Makover, Good luck!
I was initially intimidated by all the negative reviews but he really isnt that bad he was really nice, gave good examples, and was very accessible. I put a lot of hours into this class outside of the class hours either doing homework, watching video tutorials, or reviewing for exams. If youre willing to put in the work, then you will pass.
Makes his class as easy as possible to pass as long as you do the homework. Final was almost a carbon copy to unit tests and homework.
Professor Makover has been a pretty bad professor for me. He explains little as to what he does on the board, he just does it. He assigns HW a week early then covers that topic a day or two before it due and his exams are HARD. 3 HW assignments a week on top of 3 classes, and his classes arent helpful at all.
Terrible teacher. Has no soul and does not care for his students. It pleasures him to fail you. Run as far from his class as you can. Take any other teacher. Heed my warning. Will laugh at you failing and tell you better luck next semester. Looks like a gnome. He should be fired as soon as possible. The math department needs to be rebuilt.
I had no other choice but to walk into hell because all of the other professors were full. 20 people started in my class everyone but 2 dropped. DON'T TAKE. AVOID I repeat Avoid, just stay an extra semester then go through hell.
Math119 is NOT an easy class, it is a combination of trig and pre-calc. Workload and HW are heavy, his grading scale can save you if you DO YOUR HW and do good on at least ONE exam. (Make sure to get 100% on your HW to raise your grade.) But in general, I do not recommend taking him.
Terrible Professor, making me fail and im in my first year, he doesn't care what you do or if you fail, he rather you fail because then he has to do less work but still get paid for it. Whenever you need help, he literally says "well we went over it in class". He also always says "well if you fail you fail, it doesn't matter to me"
Very bad and i would not take this again
I would not recommend taking Calculus 1 with this professor. He does not explain what he is teaching very well. When a student asks him a question he will just point to the board a not explain well. Additionally, his hand writing is very hard to read. I ended up having to learn everything with outside resources.
If you take this professor be prepared to do all of the learning outside of class. The professor is hard to understand both when he speaks and when he writes on the board. Once I stopped attending lectures and replaced class time with learning from online resources my exam grades went up substantially.
Very hard to understand him he doesn't explain all topics properly. Get ready to learn online
This professor laughed at struggling students during the recent fall semester. Shows the simple examples during class then sets students up for more rigorous problems during the Last minute review test . Laughed at my face when he was told that I had a serious family issue that caused me to not show up for an exam after an email being sent prior
Terrible. Avoid. I repeat. Avoid. Can barely understand him and if you miss one singular class you are done for the entire semester. I wish I had read these before taking the class but I only hope someone reads this and avoids hell. If its too late, GOOD LUCK.
Extremely difficult to understand, didn't even make an attempt to teach outside the textbook. Your entire grade is dependent on 3 tests, the final and the homework. Probably about half the class withdrew by halfway through the semester because this professor will not re-explain anything and tells you 'just try again' if you struggle.
I asked Makeover if before the test I could come in and have some sort over review what could possibly be on the test. His answer was if you did good on your homework you should be fine. His test are very unclear. Less than poor writing on the board so good luck taking notes. Erases info before you can write down. Horrible to say the least!
Professor Makover clearly knows math, but you wouldn't know it from his lectures. He spends the whole lecture with his back facing towards you and covering the, (extremely long), operation he's doing on the board, only to erase it two seconds later. Do NOT take him, especially if you struggle with test-taking, (they're cumulatively weighed 80%!)
Fair warning this dude is tenured (he can't get fired until he retires). so with that being said, he will do the absolute minimum in this class. HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT STUDENT SUCCESS. He will not help you if you ask a question. He will be facing away from you and just write stuff down, oh and he doesn't explain anything!
Avoid this professor if possible. He uses Edfinity and assigns 12-16 problems every 2-3 days as homework. He gives no study guide and no formula sheet for exams. He wants you to use the 100+ homework problems as a study guide. Also, he erases the board before you can finsih copying the equation. If you're taking his classes, go to office hours.
I honestly really liked him as a professor the exams were very fair and similar to homework problems. Sometimes it was hard to understand certain concepts in class but most of the negative reviews are probably from non-STEM students so don't let them scare you.
Professor Eran Makover is an excellent instructor for Math 226. He explains difficult concepts clearly, keeps lectures well organized, and focuses on true understanding of differential equations. He is approachable, helpful during office hours, and fair in grading. A challenging but very rewarding course.
Great Professor
