Excellant teacher! Gets you thinking in a whole new way. Not bad to look at either!

This class was not what I expected, but I liked it. Prof. Abbey has a unique teaching style. Somewhat high expectations but if you go to class it's not hard to get an A.

Very nice guy, with a sense of humor. I wasn't looking forward to taking comp 2, but I actually had a lot of fun. There were 2 in-class debates, a group assignment, and 2 papers. He's really helpful and gives plenty of time to correct rough drafts before you turn your paper in. You do learn how to do proper research. I would take him again.

I love this class, it is fun and we always start the day off discussing what is happening in the world. He is laid back and younger, so he understands the students better. 2 papers and a group debate is the majority of your grade.

you "need" the textbook for class. but you only use it IN class, and then at the end you need it for your final exam. Abbey made a big deal about easy assignments. brags about his book. be aware there is a GROUP paper and project. if you take him, take the 8 week class and get it over with.

Assignments werent hard & he was friendly & funny. Made the class fun. If you do want a slacker class,keep on moving bc this isn't the one. Dont waste your time or his b/c if you want a blow off class

If you need to complete eng and like a relaxed atmosphere, take Mr. Abbey. He will never give perfect score but 98% I'll take. Very creative teaching style. Count the number of times he says, K.:)

Just started in the class. I am really looking forward to learning more. Awesome changes in the way it seems to be taught now. Out with the old, and in with fun way to teach and actually have the students learn and gain something from a class that use to be boring and tedious! Bravo!!!

I love his class. I easily understand the subjects he talks about and he is willing to help you when you need it. I would definitely take more classes he teaches.

i loved his classes. i took more than one without knowing who he was. but once those classes started i loved them. they were easy and everything is a fight!! lol

This was my second class with Abbey. He really know his stuff and is an excellent teacher. He is very helpful and can talk to you with respect. If I ever need another class that he is teaching he is going to be my first choice. I got a B+ this time around because I did not study for the final but hey, I'll live w* it. Take Abbey, You'll be pleased!

Okay teacher I guess. Beware of the group project. One thing that I didn't like was that he didn't prepare you for the final. Make sure that you read the essays that you go over in class very well in preparation for the final. Other than that I loved the class because I love english.

Best teacher ever! I actually learned HOW TO WRITE! I've taken this class at other college's before and failed because the teacher wasn't clear and didn't teach me how to write. Has a pet peeve of overly done topics, but those are boring anyways. Take if you want to learn but be prepared to work!

AWESOME!!!!! He is the best Lit. teacher I have ever had. He is extremely helpful and classes are interactive and entertaining. We read a good amount but it wasn't bad at all. Great guy who cares about his students as individuals and makes class interesting. I looked forward to going to class every week

Great teacher who clearly has a passion for his job as well as the subjects he teaches. I took three of his Literature courses and enjoyed them all. And if you're taking ENG 1520 (Comp II), be sure that you take his section instead of the one taught by Hoffman. She's a terrible teacher.

Eric Abbey is a great teacher. He's hilarious, interesting, and very laid back. He doesn't give many assignments, but the ones he gives are easy to get good grades on. You'll have a paper, a presentation, and a final. His instructions can seem vague at times, but its because he is giving you a lot of freedom with your work. I recommend this class!!

Really awesome writing class. If you need to take English 1520 I highly recommend that you take Mr. Abbey's class. He expects a lot of work out of you, however he helps you along the way. If you don't do the work you will fail. He has no tolerance for stupidity and laziness. If you are a hard worker you will love this class and the papers.

Took this class online and it was a breeze! He is clear about discussion boards and responds promptly to emails. One paper and weekly DBs. Would take him again! He is great!

Great professor helpful, clear, explains exactly what he wants. If you follow instructions it's almost impossible to get a bad grade.

Very laid back professor. You have a paper, presentation, final, and participtation that make up your grade. The assignments are easy, however you must read the books that accompany the class. He makes the class interesting and enjoyable.

He's awesome. Truly amazing. His lectures are very interactive. No powerpoints. Take good notes though for the final exam. You have to keep up with your reading and it gets more intense as the semester progresses. Be ready to be creative with your project. No powerpoints allowed. The paper is also essential to work on. Go to class and participate!

Mr, Abbey the best English teacher ever! He gives very good lectures, guidelines and due dates for major papers. Just follow his lectures to do well on the papers. Not only that hes very good at giving feedback. He made me a better writer. Makes you work for an A but hes awesome. Take him!!

Great online class.

AWESOME TEACHER. Very fair grading system and good feedback. He may be short with answering questions and take a while but its because he is actually taking the time to answer everyone and give specific feedback. Almost done with the class and I am surprised at how much I have learned.

I just finished an online class with him this semester, and his class was pretty straightforward. I had to email him a few times over the semester and he responded pretty quickly. Books not necessary

Professor Abbey is great. Two years into school, his class motivated me to switch my major and become an English teacher. He is engaging, witty, and inspiring. I have a lot to thank him for.

I enjoyed this class very much. It was challenging to a point, I'm a creative writer rather than a argumentative writer. I enjoyed the topics we went over, some of the reading from the book was a little dull, but every class has hit or miss readings. Clarity on dates would have made the end of the semester a bit easier, but over all great class.

Abbey is a fairly easy grader, and as long as you put in the effort you will do decent. At times he can be unclear however, but other than that I had a good experience in his online class.

I thought he was extremely helpful. He was clear in what he expected from us as the students. He was great. He has a nice sense of humor.

Great instructor and he offers good feedback. If you are lazy and want an easy A, do not waste his time and yours. The class is not completely about music. If you are a smart writer and know how to choose your papers, then, you will enjoy the class and succeed.

HILARIOUS! This guy really knows how to take boring American literature and make if fun and exciting. I looked forward to the assignments because he would just tell it like it is in class. Very laid back and with it. Reading intensive with a 5 page paper. All assignments/quizzes done online.

Who can resist a proffessor who uses profanity lol!! His classes were hilarious. Easy to pass if you simply do the work. He was a super cool guy and made learning fun.

Class having to do with argument, writing, and music. The book is definitely needed, but its cheap. Make sure to write down his notes and his structure for your papers. He's a fair grader and if you follow his rubric you'll get the grade you want. I loved he started out his class by talking about world events. Great class to take.

I despise composition classes, but Mr. Abbey made this class doable. He has a clear grading criteria. As long as you have a clear argument, good sources, and meet page length requirements, you'll receive an easy A. I am not a music person whatsoever, so I didn't enjoy writing about music, but it wasn't too hard.

Hes a great teacher! I took English 1520 twice, the first time i did not pass because my professor was the worst. I took this online with professor Abbey and he was great! he was clear with how he grades. Do the work and you'll be fine. I think hes a great 1520 teacher.

I retook this class because I didn't pass due to an awful professor the first time around, and I'm glad I chose Abbey. He actually helps you become a *good* writer and for the first time in my life I was turning in essays I was proud of. He's also just a really nice guy. I seriously recommend him for English.

This guy is the best English professor to grace the earth. He will teach you a method of papers that will serve you for the rest of your life, and do so while you are laughing at his very nice sense of humor. Prof Abbey is what all professors should be more like, he's not super serious and just cares about teaching you to be a better writer.

Prof Abbey is a great teacher! You're really only graded on discussion posts, 3 papers, and your final, so they're all weighted heavy. As long as you actually do the reading and discussion posts you're okay. He gives great feedback!

After one lecture with him, you can instantly tell he is a really chill dude. He doesn't pressure you to join in on discussions on the readings, though he highly encourages it. There is A LOT to read, but don't let that intimidate you as he goes over the readings in class and expands on it. There are no quizzes. There is only one paper and a final

I think professor Abbey grades a bit harder than other English professor I've had. I did learn more than any other English class I've taken. His book is mandatory, but not too expensive ($36). First paper is related to music (5 pages), second is on any book you read (5 pages), third is extension of paper 1 or 2 (8-10 pages). Overall good class.

Dr. Abbey's class is very straight forward. I took comp 1520 online and it is very easy as long as you stick the layout that he want's you to use for the papers. The class is only out of 100 points so every point counts. I 11/10 recommend taking his class

His grading criteria was unclear near the beginning. He grades papers pretty quickly and is very nice.

At first I did not like his class because he is very vague in his instructions, however, once you get the hang of how he grades and what he expects, youll realize that his vagueness allows you a lot of room to write as you please. His class is about music, so if that doesnt interest you, pick a different professor.

Had a blast in his class. Class his 90% discussion-based, so if you're not into listening to lectures then it may not be the best fit. But I have to say, his lectures are a blast.

Dr. Abbey on to something, He tries to stay ahead of times, and this writing style is one of them. As the class is online, try to attend it only an hour a week. Dr. Abbey allows one to think for themselves and write. Additionally, he grades with a rubric. I wish. I could have had him in person; that would have been epic. :)

The class is graded on 4 papers. 3 argumentative, and one final impromptu essay on the last day. His whole course is based on music; all the discussion posts, and all papers except for one. Dr. Abbey has a very different way of structuring papers but he gives you everything you need to succeed. Follow his instructions and its an easy A!!

He wrote the book for the class and it wasn't a stereotypical comp class. He is laid back and very helpful. When it comes to grading and corrections he is very clear and fair. Definitely recommend him to everyone. You don't have to attend the zooms which is so nice.

Dr. Abbey is an awesome professor and I loved this class! He has a great presence and fun lectures. Papers are graded quickly with clear and helpful feedback. I ended up really liking Prof Abbey's class. I took it online and while there was a fast turnaround on all the papers, he gave very clear instructions on how he wanted each paper to look which made it super easy. The whole class is about music but despite not knowing a lot you can still do well. Just do your work on time and you'll get an A.

Took this class as a 8-week course. This class was mostly discussions, summary papers, an essay, and a final exam. Just be sure to read what he assigns and make sure to take notes in his lecture videos. His lectures are clear and easy to understand. Very interesting class to take. I would definitely take another class with Professor Abbey!

I recommend taking him for ENG 1510 and ENG 1520. His lectures are very easy to understand and he makes the class very interesting.

I took P Abbey's class during the winter semester. His class starts off with real world talks of "what's going on in the world?" This is a discussion before lecture to talk about popular culture, life etc. I really enjoyed it. He is understanding and encourages you to become a better writer. If you pay attention in class, you should do well!

Youngest coolest professor ever!Honestly if you do the work on time and vaguely follow the rubric you will get a B bare minimum,missed the first two weeks and managed to get a B after turning in a paper a week late and a page short. I became way better at researching and writing lengthy papers. He is also a very cool guy, class is fun and engaging!
