If you're interested in learning about different cultural views I highly recomend taking Cultural Anthropology. Anderson is a fun teacher with many interesting personal experiences that he is willing to share. Thanks Eric!
Very cool guy with great sinse of humor. I Really loved this class. If anthro seems of any interest, let it be Physical or cultural, TAKE THIS CLASS!
the most insipiring teacher...he was great, funny, cool everything a professor shoudl be, made me love physical anthro, he is the best
Anderson is the best instructor I have ever had at YVCC (took both 102 & 104 in 2003). I am currently at WSU and have not yet found such a humorous intellegent instructor as Anderson.
FABULOUS INSTRUCTOR! Great character and keeps the class interesting! A+
Study review sheets and this class is very easy. I hated the group work. It was worthless.

Eric is an AWESOME INSTRUCTOR!!!
Seriously the girl next to me is drooling over the very thought of him!
He's so funny and that's honestly the only reason I stayed in the class.
Eric is cool, a pretty good teacher.. seems nice.
His tone of voice doesn't vary that much but his teaching style keeps things interesting. He likes to joke around, and is generally very friendly. If you come to class and pay attention, you will do well. It's a good idea to sit near people who don't slack off - there is a fair amount of gathering into groups to answer questions. Easy seminars.
I don't get it. He was nice, but certainly not a great teacher. He seemed sort of lazy. If he didn't want to talk, he would put you into these seminar groups. I got an A in the class, but I expected more. My uncle is an anthropologist, and I learned more talking with him.
Very nice, gets red easy.
Subject material very interesting. Good stories to add some flair. Acts like he has had a little reafer, so beware all you squares. The class can be a little sleepy at times.
Show up and study and you will do well in this class. If you miss any days you will regret it when it's test time. He talks a lot but it's easy to listen to and I actually learned some cool stuff. PS... pay attention to the skulls so you know how to identify them for the last test.
Eric Anderson was a great teacher. He was funny, but knew what he was talking about. He made the class fun and interesting. He is one of the best teachers that i have had yet at YVCC.
Fun, made it very interesting, I am glad I took the class. A lot of studying; the tests were tough.
Tremendously enjoyable and interesting. He is very comical I am glad I took the class. A lot of studying; the tests were tough.
Take this class for an easy A. It was a good class, but not chalenging. Mr. A is a good instructor, but taught to the level of the idiots in the class.
Eric keeps the environment upbeat and uses humor well. I'd take him again if the need comes.
Awesome. Very knowledgeable.
funny and fun, cool guy
Always interesting and fun to look at too!
Youth Subcultures is great! We listen to music, watch movies and have conversations about random things. And he is definitely something to look at if the subject matter gets dry.
Great teacher. very direct expectations. sets you up to succeed and is very fun!
great teacher and very nice eye candy!
Eric is the best. I was preconverted anthromajor already, Eric filled in lots of the details in a very concise, friendly way. Great professor, good person, excellent class.
Eric is very SMART/CUTE! He makes anthro super interesting. All my deep, thought-provoking life questions that I wonder about on a daily basis are ANSWERED by attending this class. Eric is highly recommended! He's chill and super hilarious, it really lightens up an early morning :)
He was awesome- I learned a lot and had fun in the class. I highly recommend him (even for non-majors!).
I found a lot of stuff he said was offensive, his study guides didn't line up with the test, and I didn't enjoy the class at all. It was Cultural Anthropology.
Took Anthropology 100. It was great. Super nice teacher and very interesting. No papers or take home assignments.
Very nice, easy to listen to, has funny stories that are semi-related to the topic, assignments are interesting.
Honestly, the coolest teacher I've ever had. He makes the subject interesting... and hilarious. I love to hear his personal stories. As long as you go to class and do the work you'll get an A. The work isn't hard but he makes you think.
Amazing teacher! I loved his class, he made it very interesting and easy to listen to.
AWESOME TEACHER!
Great teacher! He makes the class very interesting and is hilarious! I've taken two of his classes and would take more if YVCC offered more. I would recommend anyone to take him. Plus, he's pretty good looking :)
Eric Anderson is very knowledgeable in his science and very practiced in his teaching. He has a casual, laid back demeanor and sees the humor in about everything. Reading the txt is a must as at least a couple questions each test will be from the book and can mean a letter grade on the tests. He tests on his lectures. And yes he is adorable :D
A really good professor, and an amazingly interesting guy. You learn a lot from him just because he's too interesting to not pay attention too! Not too tough, but that's just because he makes it easy to pay attention in class.
Smarmy and never shuts up about his kid, but it's an easy class if you halfway do the work. Lots of reading but you'll be fine if you skim a few pages.
Pretty cool class and if you do your readings then it's and easy class. Very interesting. Cool professor.
I found his class to be extremely interesting! He's a really talented and passionate teacher, and he makes it fun to be in class. Some of the content we went over was extremely dry, but the way he presented it made it more than tolerable. Best advice I can give is to not miss class and take really good notes on both the lectures and the readings!
Great teacher. Difficult class. Pay attention.
Interesting class, explains everything quite well, and is easy on the eyes! Must study, and review notes. Must attend class or you will miss a ton of info! Overall, great professor, very personable and funny!
Cultural Anthro--take lots of notes and study them well in addition to the chapters... EVERY part of the chapters assigned. I'm a 4.0 student and ended up with a B+. Great lecturer and easy to listen to.
I was more excited about the cultural anthropology class than any other classes but as the semester progressed, i found this to be the most boring class I have ever taken. There are no activities or class participation to make this fascinating material actually interesting in class. only listening to someone talk day in day out
His class is not hard, You don't need the book because he goes over everything in class. He does not give out allot of home work which was one of the reasons I liked the class. All you have to do is pay attention to the lectures, write down what he goes over and you should do well. oh and show up on time he is not a fan of people showing up late
His lectures drag sometimes. But he is a good teacher and a funny guy. Pretty cute for a fifty-something year old. ;) Take this class it's pretty interesting!
Such a funny guy! Very nice. The class wasn't THAT interesting but he made it much more so with his personality!
Nice guy... very boring class. It was basically worthless. He seemed as if he was just going through the motions. At times he seemed as bored as I was.
I loved this class! Mr. Anderson is easily the most interesting and hilarious teacher I've ever had. He has a very dry sense of humor. I loved listening to his lectures. The seminars are easy. The tests are moderately difficult, but not too bad. I would definitely recommend this teacher. Good taste in music too.
I went into this class not knowing what to expect, but Anderson was a great teacher and he made the class fun. He's pretty easy going and doesn't assign too much homework. The worst parts are the seminars. His finals are also non-comprehensive.
Really odd, strangely hilarious sense of humor. Subject matter was very interesting, and taught well. Lecture was respectful of those who may have a harder time with evolutionary theory for religious and various other reasons.
Anderson lectures for most of the time, and until the day before tests. Had 2 group assignments, and 4 tests for the quarter. Only read out of the book twice, but read all the handouts. The content from handouts and lectures are on the test more than the book's content. Pretty funny instructor. Highly recommend.
I was unclear on a lot of materials in the class, the questions were never very clear. He also has seminars, so as someone who is physically unable to speak in front of groups, I didn't do well. Those of you with social anxiety: steer clear.
Funny guy, lots of group projects, no homework, I passed all his tests with a B or higher just by listening to his lectures, Few notes and pretty chill as long as you don't talk in class.
By far the best teacher at yvcc. If you haven't taken Anderson yet, you definitely should. He gives lectures everyday and there is no homework in this class. He also gives a study guide and it includes everything on the test. The tests are also easy if you review for them. He has a great sense of humor and it's easy to pass this class.
Great teacher
Very lecture heavy class. Tests can be a bit confusing at times.
I'll start out by saying I love this guy, he's hilarious, inspirational, and got me to major in Anthro. Take him! His classes aren't hard, IF you attend lectures. He rarely has a lot of material for you to read, when he does he is very precise on the passages he wants you to read (you do still need the book). Grades 85% on lectures 15% on text.
Great lecturer, makes it interesting and welcomes questions. Makes a lot of terrible (but also great) jokes. Your grade is pretty much all tests, and I found the textbook to be necessary if you want an A. He doesn't take attendance, but if you skip, make sure you get the notes from someone who takes good notes and any handouts you missed.
I have taken two of Anderson's classes and loved them both. Youth Subcultures was a fantastic class. It helps bridge the generational gaps when you can understand the people in the world your parents grew up in. And understand the general mindset of those different groups. One of my favorite classes ever. Don't take this if you get easily offended.
Mr. Anderson was my favorite prof at YVC. His topics were always interesting and he has a lot of real-world experience. The class focuses mostly on 4 tests and a final project, but a lot of info on the test is directly from his lectures.
I had Anderson for Biological Anthropology. He's a really good teacher who knows what he's talking about, can answer any questions you have, and makes sure to keep the class interesting. My only complaint is that there's a lot of material covered in a very short amount of time. however, he does his best to make sure people know what's going on.
There's four tests and a couple of "group projects" that are done in 20 mins during class. The final is non comprehensive. He lectures everyday and it can get kind of boring. He tries to make it funny and interesting but sometimes you will want to fall asleep. Read the book and definitely take notes and study them often.
Anderson's class was hands down the most interesting class I have ever taken, his lectures are very interesting and he knows exactly what he is talking about. Your grade basically consist of all 4 test. There is no homework, take lots of notes and really review the study guides.
He's really funny
100% my favorite professor!!
Amazing Instructor! Lectures are fun. Theres no homework, but you would have to read everyday, which can easily be overwhelming if you leave it to the night before the exam. No opportunities for extra credit.
He has good lectures with lots of information, but you have to read the book. He cares about what he is talking about and has lots of knowledge to give. Very funny professor
I liked him a lot, the last few tests were really challenging because of the specificity on such obscure topics. He was a good lecturer and I got by without ever reading the book.
Anderson is hands down my favorite professor I have had yet. He is incredibly funny and his real-life experience and examples make the material both easy to understand and beyond interesting. Make sure to take lots of notes in his class. If you get the chance, take him for biological anthropology, you won't regret it!
Anderson is my favorite instructor at YVC, he's funny and makes learning about anthropology so interesting. It's important to pay attention and take notes during his lectures. He gives test study guides so as long as you go over that tests should be easy. Tests are all multiple choice with one or two short answer questions which are usually easy.
He was by far my favorite teacher at the school. His lectures are very clear and easy to understand. He also makes it very clear what he will test over. There are four tests and occasional small assignments/seminars. Make sure that you show up to class as the lecture content is what is tested over. Overall, an amazing and funny teacher.
He's a great teacher, the class is both intersting & enjoyable, hes very passsionate about his job, there is a lot of lectures but as long you take notes you will be ok. There is quite a bit of reading but not too bad, seminars happen almost every week but they're not very intimidating, just say a few things & you'll get full points.
the readings were challenging. annotate + underline. read slowly and understand everything. youll have seminars, theyre easy if u read + understand the material, and if u can speak! If you read, understand, and study EVERYthing that is assigned, and you take good notes in class, youll get As and Bs on your tests!
I have now taken 2 classes with him and I he is probably my favorite prof. He makes the classes interesting and there aren't many assignments. 10/10
Mr. Anderson was an amazing professor. He is not computer savvy, but tried his absolute best when transitioning to online classes. He genuinely cares about what he teaches and about his students. The class is easily passable if you take notes and watch the lectures.
Would definitely not take again. The subjects were interesting but it was a really hard class to understand and will not help you outside of class. some lectures were really complicated I personally would not take this class again.
Anderson is a pretty funny guy. There is a lot of lectures but its pretty entertaining. He makes up his own exams. They are a little difficult but he gives you a weekly schedule. If you follow it, the class will be an easy A!
This class was pretty interesting and not too difficult. Eric is a pretty funny guy and laughs at his own jokes a lot. The lectures can get so boring but they're important for the exams. Your grade comes from a couple seminars and 4 exams. He gives to-do lists and study guides so if you follow those, you'll be fine. And please laugh at his jokes.
Took this class thinking it was going to be vocabulary but it's complex. Take this class once your done with english 101. Eric was nice and taught interesting facts.
pretty easy class if you show up and just right down what he puts on his PowerPoint I don't recommend missing class and he will provide a study guide right before the test which makes it very easy I've taken two of his courses Anth101 and 205 and those study guides will help you achieve a good result
This professor is very chill, this is a survey class in which there are 4 exams. Not open notes so study! He has PowerPoint slides that he talks about in class, It is important to attend class because there could be group assignments as part of your grade! He provides all the readings for us which is great:) also don't talk when he's teaching:]
The overall topic of this class was really interesting and I learned a lot. Attendance was mandatory and it's best to show up and take notes unless you want to scramble and cram prior to the exams. There were 4 exams and the occasional article to read for homework, other than that, great class and great instructor!
Anderson is great but please make sure you don't talk while he is lecturing and DO NOT use your phone because it he will call you out! I enjoyed his class but make sure you do all the readings he assigns because the readings will be on your test! I felt like his tests were pretty difficult and a lot of the questions were trick questions!
Professor Anderson is a good and hilarious professor. His class was basically just around 7 group assignments and four exams. There is quite a bit of reading but thats about it!
I loved Mr. Anderson's class! His class has no homework other than reading articles for in-class assignments/seminars. There are a lot of group activities, too. His tests are only difficult if you don't read the articles. He's very nice and really funny, too. Please laugh at his jokes lol
Professor Anderson is pretty nice and chill, and he gives no homework. But be sure to take LOTS of notes, which will be important on the 4 exams. It's really important to go to class every day because he covers a lot of material that will be on the exam. As long as you take notes and attend you'll pass the class. 10/10
This was an amazing professor, there is lecture daily, but the course content is very interesting, and this professor encourages discussion on what is being lectures on. There isn't much homework, but there is a lot of reading to do. The exams ask direct questions from text and lecture and there is always an essay question on them. Great class!
Eric was very funny, he made lectures interesting. We had a few group projects and seminars, a lecture everyday, so be ready to take notes. There was not homework only reading the articles before class/studying for tests. There were 4 tests that essentially made up your whole grade, including the seminars and your group work. I enjoyed the class.
