He made class really interesting, and he is soooo funny! I deffinitely recommend his class.

He is a wonderful teacher and also really funny. Just make sure you read the assignments and do the journal papers. I have learned so much more about literature and poetry from his class. He is awesome.

Funny guy, though he gets carried away in his humor and tries to make things funny when they just aren't. Difficult, but the syllabus is very clear. he's willing to walk through things step by step with you. Everything is do or die with him. This guy will teach you to tread water for sure!

Brother Harrell is the best teacher I have ever had! To him, the learning model is natural, and he's the only teacher I've had actually get it right. The class works together, and he knows how to lead the discussion. He understands what we need as students. I'll take his classes as many times as I can.

Brother D'Evegnee is amazing! I just took the class because it was required for graduation, but it ended up being one of my favorite classes. Three papers are required over the semester but if you go to class you will know exactly how to write them. Great teacher, great insights, very helpful. Highly recommend!!

Brother d'evegnee is an AWESOME teacher. My favorite in the english department!!classes are always a lot of fun and the discussions are really interesting.There are about 2-3 analytical papers due each semester (normally around midterm and one at final) but they aren't hard. Easy quizzes every now and then if you do the reading so do it. TAKE HIM!!

(This class replaced Eng 111). He's a challenging teacher, but he gets you to think harder. It's a really enjoyable class. He doesn't grade the foundations papers, though. It's all peer grading, but he does appeals. It was one of my favorite classes by far! Really helpful and answers questions always!

I loved Brother d'Evengee! I've had him for three english classes. At first he seems really hard, but then if you do the work, do the reading and GO TO CLASS it's not that bad. He's the reason I love English. His essay's aren't that hard, and he's so willing to help you with them. the discusions we would have in class were amazing. TAKE HIM!

Brother D'Evegnee is a stud. Dont hesitate to take his class its chilled out and you learn. You write 3 papers all semester and he does appeals. He walks you through it step by step so theirs no reason you shouldn't get an "A" unless you break his clearly noted rule of no texting in class.

He was an extremely insightful teacher and his viewpoint changed how I write today. He is willing to work with all students and help them in any way possible. I would definitely reccomend taking any class from Bro. D!

He has been the best teacher I have had in college! He is such a genuine guy and really strives to make school fun. He makes lots of jokes and keeps a very casual feel in the classroom while still helping his students learn a lot! If you must take this class, take it from him!

I cannot say enough good about this man. His ability is rare. His teaching is life changing stuff. You will never think the same - and that's a good thing.

You may feel buried in work but none of it is busy work. It seems hard for a 200 level course but you walk away with a deeper understanding of what it means to be an English major. He is more than willing to take time to help you on assignments if you come to his office during his posted hours. Again he will challenge you, come prepared.

I didn't know what to really expect of him at first but defenity one of the best professors I've had. He really does help and want his students to do good. He's always kind and genuine. I would def. take another English class from him!

I used to hate writing before him. I like it now. We learned a lot and the class is not hard. Homework was kept to a minimum. There is nothing bad to be said about him. If you want to have a easy A in writing take him.

Best teacher ever hands down. So much fun. I hated english until I took him. HE makes you laugh and is very reasonable with grading and understand students needs. I would definitely take him again.

At first I was terrified of this class. Bro D seemed serious and the assignments seemed long. However, after two or so weeks I realized one, that Bro. D is hilarious, and two, that I was learning a ton! The subject and lectures are really interesting, and the analytic assignments really open your eyes. Tests are hard, but it's a really good class.

Brother d'Evegnee is one of my favorite professors. I've taken many of his classes, and have loved each one (even the ones at 7 AM, and I'm not a morning person). I especially loved 370 because he was so passionate about what we were learning. He gives a quiz every day, so read your book (don't worry, they're pretty interesting). He made class fun!

As an English Major, I can honestly say that he's my favorite professor ever. He will challenge you, but his class is not impossible. He's funny, but it doesn't detract from the content. He expects you to be brilliant and that made me want to step up and do my best work. Truly a teacher for those looking to improve themselves and their writing.

Bro. D'Evegnee seemed a bit intimidating at first, but he turned out to be awesome. Although his class was a bit challenging and his homework normally took over an hour to finish, he taught great lessons in class. He helped me to understand poetry far better than I ever thought I could. Beware of quizzes over the homework.

I LOVED taking this class. yes, there is a lot of reading and HW, but you learn so much about English doing it. I've never learned so much in my life. His lectures are amazing and class time is so fun. There are little quizzes but if you read then they are simple enough.

Phenomenal professor. He really helps you learn and uses the text daily. It is a lot of reading, but its a literature class. thats to be expected. pay attention in class and take notes as there will be things from lecture in the exams.

I absolutely loved this course! The reading material is diverse and interesting and he tries very hard to make every student's insights important to the discussion. An insightful and professional teacher!

This class can be irritating at class because of how much you have to read but all the books we read were amazing. Some were rough to get through but you will love them. Class is just discussion. There's a midterm and a final that aren't hard and there are two papers. As long as you work to do those well, you're good!

I went into this class thinking I knew everything there was to know about English but taking this class made me realize how much there was to learn. Bro D'Evegnee really opened my eyes to a lot of things I hadn't taken into consideration before. You have to work hard for a good grade but you'll get a better literary understanding out of it.

I had him for analysis--a subject I really don't enjoy--but he was so funny and such a good teacher that I probably enjoyed this class more than all of them. I may not have loved the course work, but I never wanted to miss his class. He was so helpful and so kind and all around phenomenal.

The professor is patient and explains information wrll. Literary analysis in this class gets super tricky, but it makes you think really hard and takes you to a higher level of thinking.

He's really clear at explaining what we're talking about and leading the discussion into places that are interesting. This may be the class I've learned the most in since I've been at BYU-I

Bro. D'Evegnee is awesome. Definitely one of my favorite teachers. He doesn't pile on a bunch of unnecessary homework and offers great insights into books. He's respectful when you disagree with him about literature and is clear about class expectations. Class discussions are great.

Professor d'Evegnee's postmodernism class is awesome. He is funny in an understated way, his quizzes are easy, and the in-class discussions and lectures are inspiring and exciting (if you like literary analysis, anyway). He explains complicated postmodern theories clearly and encourages student insights and comments. Tough grader, great feedback.

I feel good walking into that class. His lectures are clear, and I always know what he expects. If you do the work and show up you'll do well.

So I normally hate English classes but Brother D'Evegnee is the best. He is really good at not making you do a ton of busy work. He teaches you exactly what he expects in your writing. He helped me grow so much and he always keeps class interesting. Super hilarious and caring. He also learns his students names and cares about what is going on.

He is a great teacher but if you miss more than 2 days you drop half a letter grade and its near impossible to keep up. So DON'T MISS CLASS. Otherwise he is a great teacher and I have learned more from him than almost any other. He is also hilarious with a quirky fun sense of humor. Take his class! Totally worth the work.

He's hilarious, but he always keeps things relevant. Lots of reading in the beginning of the semester, but it eases up pretty early on. Lots of group discussions in class, which are always super helpful, especially in the process of each essay. Don't think you can really misstep here.

I think this class was the first class I've taken where there was so much work, but rather than hating it, it felt incredibly rewarding. Bro D really made me see stories and other lit in a whole new way. I'm now much more analytical when I read things. What I learned from him stayed learned and is a positive part of my life now. Lots of discussion about poems, stories, and plays. Very interesting. Brother D'Evegnee really knows his stuff, his lectures are never boring, and he's a pretty funny guy. You definitely need to put in the effort for this class though, he doesn't hold your hand. You will be pushed to grow in the best way.

Brother D'Evegnee is great. His class felt like a typical English class, but I liked who he is as a teacher and the discussions we would have. I didn't feel like students had the opportunity to talk much and share their own ideas, but I do think he is very knowledgeable in his subject and the things we discussed.

D'Evegnee is a great professor! His lectures are great and to the point. He's funny and extremely helpful. The class is based around 4 papers that you'll write, and he has optional writing workshops where you can ask him and the TA questions and get help! I highly recommend him as an english professor!

Brother D'Evegnee is very witty and funny, which definitely adds to a brighter mood in class. We are asked to read poems/short stories and readings from the textbook weekly. If you stay on top of the readings, then you should be fine. Other than that, his lectures are SO INCITEFUL! I feel like we solve the world's problems in class triweekly!

I loved having Brother d'Evegnee as a professor. Honestly, I've never enjoyed reading, but after taking his class I have taken on this newfound love of reading and it's been amazing! He is so funny and such a good guy who cares for his students. He struggles with learning new names but still works hard to learn everybody's names. Great guy & class!

Not a fan of lit survey courses but this was one of my favorite classes. Bro d'Evegnee is hilarious and very knowledgeable/passionate about the postmodern era. There's tons of reading (although every lit class is like that) but I thoroughly enjoyed our discussions, even though some of the books weren't the most enjoyable to read. Very insightful!

Br. d'Evegnee is great! There's a good chunk of reading between classes, but if you stay on top of it, it's manageable. Great teacher for in-class discussions. If you're more conservative, I will warn you that some readings are about critical theory, but it's minimal and not preachy at all, great for other perspectives. Would recommend fs

I absolutely LOVED d'Evegnee's class. He is my favorite professor I've taken so far, and I was actually excited to come to class each day. The majority of the work was reading the books (which were all fantastic) and discussing them in class, with two midterm/final tests and essays. I would 1000% recommend him and this class to everyone!
