good prof
Welcoming and Knowledgeable teacher who provides every resource to succeed
"Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul." -Carl Jung
He is good at communicating, and can make meaningful analogies that help interpret material.
The video lectures he provided were a good way to get and understanding of textbook material, as well as providing the scripts he used so that we have something to learn from. He also provided feedback on assignment and allowed resubmissions.
Professor Eckert is laid back and knowledgeable. He has worked in the tech field in all levels before retiring and turning to teaching. He has walked the walk. His late work policies and the ability to resubmit a programming assignment once if it needs some tweaks are incredibly forgiving and help those of us with full-time jobs.
Professor Eckert was an amazing instructor and was very funny. If we were stuck on something he would stop his lecture so that we understand clearly. Many of his jokes were funny. His was super helpful in his hardware labs and software labs and gave feedback quickly.
Professor Eckert is awesome and for sure my favorite professor so far. Although most of the course is just lectures, the lectures themselves are engaging and are insightful. The professor is very good at taking complex ideas and breaking it down. He is very knowledgeable in the subject matter and can answer any questions that you may have.
This is my second time taking one of Prof. Eckert's classes, I would 100% recommend taking his in person class if possible. He is super engaging, his deliverance is clear and concise. Even with the more confusing topics he explained it in "user friendly" ways. He is great at what he does and definitely someone to look up to in this field.
The material may not be easy but Professor Eckert provides students with everything they need to succeed. I enjoyed his lectures. By far my favorite class this semester.
Genuinely one of the best professors I've ever had. He deeply understands and is excited about the material. His lectures brought a liveliness to the (slightly mundane) topics, which helped me comprehend even the most complicated lessons. If you're on the fence about taking this professor, don't hesitate--- he's one of the best.
Professor Eckert is awesome and by far the best computer science teacher I've had. He has 5 stars for a reason! I wish I could take all my computer classes with him. Even though I live over an hour away from class and had him 3 days a week, I showed up for every lecture because he made it interesting.
Great professor who cares for students and explains the material in an easy manner
Super sweet and cares about his students. Lots of extra credit too.
Great teacher, EMCC is by far the best when it comes to computer science teachers. Prof. Eckert has been incredibly understanding especially when it comes to Karnaugh maps, and all other explanations, he also has his own youtube channel for CSC.
Hard class but he is always available and eager to help. Fair grader and gives a lot of time to complete assignments.
Eckert's 230 class is 2 days of lecture and 1 day lab each week. That lab day is key to work with classmates and ask questions about each project. You get 2 weeks to resubmit projects for full credit which helps a lot.
While the class was difficult, Prof. Eckert was always available to help. A lot of time to get assignments done and fair grader.
Professor Eckert is an amazing teacher who cares about his students and the subject he teaches. It is important to attend the lectures as the information given can be difficult to understand without his explanations, nonetheless the lecture slideshow is always available through canvas. Don't slack off on the textbook homework, it is a large grade!
This class was not a hard class however, there were a few assignments that could get a bit confusing and required reaching out for assistance. Professor Eckert provided everything that we needed to be successful. There were a lot of videos to watch for every module so making sure I set enough time to watch the videos was important.
Professor Eckert is an awesome instructor with a great sense of humor, he'll do well in standup. Good luck with the superman vol 1 search
Professor Eckert is by far the best instructor I have had thus far in college. He has a genuine passion for the material, and although the content can be a bit difficult at times, students who want an A can easily get one. He is extremely helpful for all of the labs and will help you through the whole thing if you ask for his help.
An amazing teacher definitely recommend. He really cares about whether or not you understand the material.
This course was a great introduction to programming. Professor Eckert's video lectures are very in-depth, and he provides example code to supplement them. There is a lot of content, but there are plenty of opportunities to improve your grade with extra credit.
Prof. Eckert has wonderful lectures and it's easy to understand when he consistently applies the logic to real world scenarios to get a better understanding. Ask lots of questions and he'll gladly break things down for you in any way. No surprise material on the exam questions, thoroughly review the lecture slides and you'll be good!
Amazing teacher and he really cares about whether or not you understand the material.
A good teaching style and doesn't shy away from jokes here and there to make it more entertaining
Professor Eckert is a very passionate professor and it is easy to see by how enthusiastic he is about teaching the content. Although I did not enjoy having to wake up early to make to class on time, 3 days a week, I think that Professor Eckert makes it worth coming to class because of how he teaches.
Amazing professor. Would take any and all of his classes for computer science. Professor has a lot of experience and cares about his students learning the material well, while also making the topics easy to learn.
Professor Eckert has done an amazing job during this term once again. The material can get confusing but, professor has provided everything needed to succeed. I enjoyed his lectures and he does an excellent job elaborating on ideas.
The professor really cares about the success of his students. He cares more about quality of work rather than when it's submitted.. He explains problems really well & does his best to support with any coding help. I would recommend him to any student pursuing computer science or related degrees
Professor Eckert is really good at teaching. He explain things in a way that's easy to understand. He make the class interesting and everyone can join in. Even if something seems hard, he break it down so it's not too tough.
great professor he always worked with me and explained things in a way i could not only understand the concept better but for it to stay in my head
professor E had great lectures that would always stick with me during the test great class
This professor is a dying breed. He actually allows students to learn from their mistakes without penalizing them for labs and programming assignments. He cares about his students and provides ample opportunity for them to catch up on coursework. He provides several mediums to present the info and doesn't give frivolous busywork. Very good prof.
This professor is a dying breed. He actually allows his students to learn without penalizing them. He provides good feedback and extensive resources for the info he provides. He cares about his students are provides ample opportunity (and extra credit) to catch up. Very good professor.
This professor just truly is fantastic, his lectures are amazing and unironically funny and fresh. You can tell he truly just is passionate about teaching
This professor was very helpful and I had all the resources I needed. He is very lenient with late work and gives extra credit.
One of the best professors I have had the opportunity to learn from. Very engaged with his students and passionate about what he does. Taught me a great deal about programming and ensured a solid foundation for students moving forward in this field. Make sure to tune in to his instagram to see some of the adventures he embarks on!
Good Professor, Has a well structured online course.
Very good, really cares about students
Professor Eckert is a great professor and he is willing to work with you if you are willing to put the work in. You can always go to his office hours if you need any kind of help, not just class but with your academics.
Professor Eckert is a great professor. His resources he provides and video lectures makes it easy to complete homework and to study for exams. Grades fast, responds fast, and is very knowledgable in this topic. Highly recommend taking his CS-related classes!
One of the best professor ever. This is a professor I will always remember! Great lectures, thorough, knows his stuff. Ask questions because the professor wants you to learn. Extra credits available but you have to work for them which is what I wanted anyways. I'm going to be taking another class of his next year and I'm excited to learn more!
Not caring
This is my second time taking a class with Professor Eckert. Anyone I know who's taken a class by him has raved about how good of a teacher he is. He is helpful and as long as you're communicating any struggles you have you will be fine. The class is difficult of course but not impossible. His lectures are informative.
The professor responds to assignments and grades them really quickly, the lectures are very insightful!
His lectures are well-organized, making complex programming concepts more accessible. He uses practical examples and real-world applications to help students understand the material.
The professor can be lively but serious. He will go into detail on the subject and will constantly have reminders on what's to come and what's to be expected. The class is difficult but given the number of resources plus the forgiving grading system he has. A student can only blame themselves if they don't take the class seriously and not focus.
He is a fantastic teacher, there are not many professors who genuinely want their students to succeed. The class structure is easy to follow with the lectures providing more than enough to be able to learn and pass this class. Very good feedback on things turned in and a quick response time. I would recommend this class over one that uses zybooks.
Good Professor.
I want them to know that he is always ready to help when needed. Also, he tries to build a friendly environment for students to learn and chat
Enjoyed the class. I was falling behind but he gave me a good buffer in terms of late grades, and I was able to come back and pass. All the assignments are very purposeful and helpful too.
Professor Eckert is a great teacher as he is always available to help students in any way they need it, the labs can be tricky sometimes but he is always there to help! I will definitely be taking him again. :)
He gives you everything you need to succeed and is there to help you through challenges you may have. His class might be tough but you will learn a lot.
Professor Eckert always provides you with exactly what you need to complete every assignment. He always provides example outputs that a successful program will be able to replicate.
Professor Eckert brings a wealth of experience from various fields into the lectures. He provides the tools necessary to succeed in the class, but you must also put in your own effort. One aspect I particularly appreciated is that you can submit your work, receive feedback, and resubmit it for improvement.
Such a great professor. 10/10 would recommend to anyone taking CSC classes.
Great teacher with a sense of humor
Professor Eckert is very knowledgeable in the subject, easily accessible for help, and provides great lectures that teach the course material and prepare students for completing the assignments. His sense of humor, personality, and real-life applications keep the lectures engaging.
Professor Eckert has to be one of my favorites. Even online, I can quickly and easily get in touch with him whenever I need help with assignments or have questions. What stands out to me the most is the detailed responses given by the professor on the submitted assignments, which allowed me to improve my work as well as understand the material.
Awesome professor and great lectures.
This professor wants you to succeed. He responds to emails and messages quickly, and he is very helpful. He has amazing lectures and a great sense of humor. He also offers lots of extra credit. If you don't pass his course, then you only have yourself to blame.
Professor Eckert is the best Computer Science professor I've had. He is understanding and helpful with an interesting curriculum.
Great teacher, clear defined expectations and good organization. Test are hard, have to know the material in detail.
Professor is a very lax grader. I forgot to turn in a major coding assignment on time, it was turned in 2 days late and I was only docked 2 points out of 115!!!!
He was really helpful and leniant with late assignments, great professor
I felt that Prof. Eckert provided good lectures that helped me succeed within the course. I also felt that the course was well organized with all of the assignments being laid out very clearly.
The lecture videos helped me a lot as well as Prof. Eckert being super available to help anytime out of class or over email. He also gives you feedback on all of your assignments and will tell you why you lost points so that you can go in and resubmit that homework to get more points.
Professor Eckert was responsive, clear and super willing to help you out. Would take another of his classes in a heartbeat.
Great class, great teacher. If you are looking to get into computer programming, I wouldn't want any other teacher than Professor Eckert. His lectures are the key to success in the course. Even though it was a strictly online course, I was still able to understand the material without feeling overwhelmed by the information.
I found it really helpful when Professor Eckert would section off the lecture videos so we could do the written homework at the same time.
He's always willing to help out and encourages questions from his students. His lectures are fairly easy to understand and if you don't understand a couple, you can always use the textbook :)
Class is not the easiest, but the professor has good lectures and lets you redo homework for a better grade.
He is willing to help, and responds quickly. His online class is well formatted, and the lectures are great. The work does pile up, especially the labs and design challenges if you submit late but he does have a very student friendly submission policy. I strongly recommend professor Eckert, and taking his summer class was a treat.
This was a great class. This was my second time taking this course and he explained the material better than anyone else could. He allows you to turn in homework late for reduced points.
The teacher provided feedback quickly and was able to help with any issues in a timely manner. Not too much work, everything was done fair.
The teacher lectures were very well made and easy to understand. The class can get pretty hard at times but the teacher is always there to answer questions.
I took CSC 120 with Professor Eckert. His class has many resources available for students to learn from. We had a textbook and lecture videos. Having different mediums to learn from helps a lot and the way the professor goes over everything in the lectures makes
I took CSC120 w Professor Eckert. His class has many resources available for students to learn from. We had a textbook and lecture videos. Having different mediums to learn from helps a lot and the way the professor goes over everything in the lectures makes things easy to understand.
Very fair professor. He gives you many everything you need to succeed in his class.
He was an amazing proffessor. He always made sure to follow up with you and give good feedback
Professor Eckert gave a lot of room for late assignments
Great professor.
Great professor would take again.
Great professor would take again. Easy going and lots of wiggle room for late assignments
The teacher was very informative and knowledgeable, he provided several examples, videos, and even offered additional assistance, between online and in person. He was very thorough and everything he advised us matched the information in the book.
Eckert is a really good professor and cares about his students. His lectures are very well done, and he makes the class interesting.
Professor Eckert is very knowledgeable in this field and is a great teacher! There is a lot of leniancy for late work and he is very understanding if you don't understand something right away
Great professor, teaches rather than recites. Goes out of his way to help students on his own time. Assignments are clear and concise. Is actually pretty funny but most cs students dont laugh in front of the class lol. Prof Eckert if you are reading this I appreciate your humor. One of the better profs in ACO, wish he taught more of the classes.
Professor Eckert does an incredible job explaining Java concepts to a beginner like myself who didn't know a single thing about programming before taking his course. There are tons of examples provided, and the labs help us practice what we've learned. I also like his sense of humor that he sprinkles into his lectures.
Honestly, by far one of the best computer science professor. This class consist of a good amount of projects and software labs that made the class very fun every Friday. His office ours are so helpful and he will show you how to pass this class and learn everything that you need. His exams are very low grading but his projects are high graded.
Professor Eckert's course is clear and well-constructed. However, I sometimes feel that the lectures are a bit short to fully tackle homework problems. If you care about your grade, he is willing to help. Overall, he is a great professor and I'm taking him again next semester.
I would say that the professor is good at what he does, he is also very knowledgable.
I would say that the course material is very hard. The program Logic works can be tricky and takes a lot of practice. I took the class online. please take it in person if you can since he can personally walk you through questions and concerns.
Highly recommend Professor Eckert. Never taken a programming class till his and he made it very clear and easy to understand the material. If taking his class online make sure to watch the lecture videos as they are very useful.
I took CSC120 online with him. You get enough time for assignments/labs. Also, he has great lectures, although I just read the textbook and got an A. Reach out to him if you have any problems; he is always ready to help.
I believe taking Prof. Eckerts class makes learning CSC120 enjoyable as his lectures are enjoyable with his humor and the lecture videos make understanding the textbook content a lot easier. He also gives advice on what to improve upon on assignments, and allows reuploads for better grades.
The lectures helped to understand the material much better. He has a very generous late work policy. I didn't like learning late objects but I understand the basic syntax is also important. It was hard not knowing what I was working towards, but it became easier once we got to the later chapters.
he is making class easier and explaining really good u will not be bored in class
A very knowledgeable professor and the material is not too hard to understand. Lots of lectures but he makes them engaging, and you definitely want to attend them because they cover a lot of material. Make sure to read the textbook early so you can understand the topics as they come up in the lectures.
The instructor can be humorous, he is great at what he does, and is also lecture heavy.
Professor Eckert's video lectures are engaging and complemented the textbook well. To check your work, he also includes video walkthroughs on some of the activities. He was quick to answer any questions I had about the material.
Professor Eckert is a one-of-a-kind professor, he truly cares about making a difference in his students' education. He keeps his lectures engaging and provides valuable advice in completing assignments. He is extremely knowledgeable about Computer Science. I would recommend taking his class in person for the best version of a CS course!
Professor Eckert is amazing one of the best computer science professors EMCC has to offer. If you ever have any difficulty in the class go to office hours and he will be able to help. Class is best if you attend lectures where he goes in depth with the material.
Amazing teacher but the tests are very difficult if you do not study the material like your life depends on it.
Professor Eckert is great and this was by second semester with him. He is very funny and sarcastic and had a very funny dark humor to him. He cares for each one of his students and is always willing to help you with whaterver you need help like other classes, which classes to take, and he very helpful with his subject which is CSC. Overall great!!!
Professor Eckert does a great job of breaking down the material into easily digestible portions. He is easy to reach for help during office hours. His labs and programs are challenging but doable.
Professor Eckert has a clear and structured teaching style that makes complex programming concepts more approachable. His ability to explain the material effectively and provide practical examples is greatly appreciated.
This class overall is not all that difficult as long as you give yourself the time to complete assignments and you watch all the lecture and lab videos. By far the most difficult part about this class was the tests which were a mix of written and multiple choice questions.
The class can be a lot sometimes but Prof Eckert is very passionate about his subject matter and he is available if help is wanted. Attendance is technically not mandatory but it is highly suggested.
I definitely recommend this class. All the lectures and assignments were very well organized. Doing the textbook readings first helped as the video lectures explained all the concepts in a more simple way afterward and it really helped me solidify the concepts. Eckert's humor is also a plus!
Very open to help and has a true passion for teaching
Prof. Eric Eckert is a joy to learn from, he teaches you the material while making sure the class isn't to oppressing, he throws some lite humor/comedy, and isn't afraid to answer unorthodox questions. I would recommend you take his classes and if you do take them you should learn as many digits of pi you can.
I can't recommend professor Eckert enough. He does a phenomenal job of teaching the material and is patient while helping students who may be confused. He has a lot of industry experience and a passion for education that shows in the way he teaches. You do have to pay attention though because the classes are hard.
Professor Eckert's class was fun, easy to learn, but still gave you the challenge to continue growing and learning. His video lecture were great they went into detail and showed you exactly what you needed to learn. The labs were really fun and very useful to learn exactly how a computer works. 10/10 would take his class again!
He is very knowledgeable and relates the material in a way that will be useful in the future to you.
Professor Eckert was a very engaging and fair teacher who didn't stray from helping students if they needed it. His class is hard, so be prepared to always pay attention and ask questions if needed.
Professor Eckert was great for this class! He has quite a few assignments and is always ready to help. He offers lots of extra credit opportunities and provides a large amount of sample codes that help you with how to approach the various labs and assignments. He has very thorough lectures that go more in depth than what the textbook offers.
Semester is about to end and I can say for sure that this was a very easy course. Make sure you give yourself enough time for the labs since they do take some time to think, but very doable in the end. The textbook becomes very useful every once in a while depending if you do or do not understand some concepts.
Great Professor! I just started my computer science degree and Professor Eckert really made a good first impression in this field. Would definitely take his classes again!
This class is very straight forward. A couple assignments and videos a week. Love this Professor. He's really helpful and his lectures are easy to understand and follow. Great professor overall.
One of the professors on campus!
Honesty a very good professor. Treats everyone fairly and takes pride in the work his students do. He genuinely cares for each of his students and the comments he writes on our labs and assignments always crack a smile.
Just stay caught up with the labs and take advantage of the 1 week resubmission that he has if you don't get full points. Going to the lectures is important.
Professor Eric is an excellent CSC120 instructor who explains complex concepts clearly, makes learning engaging, and is always supportive and approachable.
Great and helpful professor!
best professor out there, actually cares about his students and is willing to help you even outside of class and/or lab. gives very clear examples and makes hard concepts easy to understand!! 10/10
Professor Eckert is one of the best programming professors I know! His lectures are clear and well-structured. He's approachable and responsive as well. I think he genuinely cares about his students!
Awesome professor who prioritizes the students' learning above all else.
Great professor! Concepts were explained clearly and there's a lot of sample code you can play with. He allows for resubmissions so take advantage of that. There's a few extra credit opportunities too if you need to improve your grade. I found the lectures more helpful than the textbook.
The class is mostly based on lectures that are easy to follow. Homework is light and consists of a few book problems, programming assignments, and whatever labs you didn't finish in class. Professor Eckert is humorous and makes the lectures less monotonous. He is very open to questions and will help you if you have any issues with your program.
Despite the challenge of the course, Eckert made it easier by reviewing key concepts thoroughly and made it engaging by connecting it to other courses and adding CSC205 concepts like stacks and arrays. His teaching style made difficult topics easier. I highly recommend him for CSC230.
This class was challenging for me because I'm struggling with stuff like Assembly Code. At least I've been introduced to what Assembly Code was like. This class is calm and overall, I kinda liked the course despite my interest.
This class is a mix of lectures and labs. As long as you pay attention during lectures and ask for help, you'll do fine. He doesn't say exactly what will be on the tests, so study the slides from lecture very thoroughly. Prof Eckert cares a lot for his students, so don't be afraid to ask for help/advice.
The class is very lecture heavy but the lectures are extremely informative and there are always great examples to use from the lectures. Other than Professor Eckert's endless knowledge on computer science, he also leaves very helpful and hilarious comments on each lab/program. I really appreciated my time with Professor Eckert.
One thing I've learned throughout my education is that the tougher professors set you up for success! Do not be scared! There are many resources to pass the class such as tutoring and office hours. If you don't take this teacher, you will regret it once you transfer to asu.
I have adhd and didn't pay attention to many things in class. I was able to pass with an A with the help of the presentations and tutoring. Also, not to mention lots of extra credit assignments. The class is tough but don't be scared! Tough classes set you up for success.
Please take his class! You will not regret. Although his class is tough, you will learn so much. He sets you up for success when you transfer to asu!
Most assignments are clear and kind of easy to complete.
It does not get better than professor Eckert. He is funny, extremely knowledgable, and is always looking for ways to help his students. He makes you WANT to go to lecture. He is also a fair grader, has a fair late work policy, and the tests are straightforward if you prepare for them. highly recommend!
Professor Eckert's lectures are easy to follow and go great with the chapter readings. The construction of the class was very organized and I was always able to keep track of what assignments were due each week.
There are a variety of things you do in the class like watching lectures, reading the textbook, doing design challenges, and doing the labs that really help. I found the labs were the most fun part about the class!
Being a 100-level course, it involves difficult concepts and has time-consuming assignments. There are clear grading criteria for assignments and an excellent grading policy in place so that you can balance your other classes' workloads. Eckert tries his best to make the online lectures enjoyable. I hope your experience goes as well as mine did!
Professor Eckert is a great professor. His grading/ late policy is very generous which is immensely helpful if you have a full schedule and need to take a hit somewhere during hard times. I would absolutely take this class with this this instructor again.
Amazing professor, late work policy helped me out more than once. Plenty of time to do assignments, just do not get behind.
Great teacher , good feedback , would take other courses taught by him as well !
Professor E is an amazing one to teach you the basics of coding, I remember taking this course with a different professor, I was unable to understand the situations I was in since most lectures were confusing. This class was not at all, I think it s pretty straight forward and if you need any assistance he is there to help you!
Professor Eckert gives very few assignments compared to my other classes. We had 8 "major" programming assignments spread out throughout the semester. "Major" because there are so few assignments, so if you bomb one, your grade drops quite a bit. But if you manage your time properly, this will be the one class you won't stress about.
Eric is an amazing Professor with great and clearly structured lectures. My main complaint comes from the software we use and sometimes navigating the book and be a bit challenging especially when looking for specifics. However his personal lectures broke everything down in a manner that made it easier for me to understand. I would recommend him.
Really great time with this class. I enjoyed the lectures and found them to be incredibly informative, and he holds a pre-class lab which was invaluable. I got a bit of a rough grade due to personal life issues but I was given all the help I could be given to catch up.
I miss my goat
Accepts late work, just get marked down per week and you get to redo each assignment once with his given feedback for a better grade. Responds quicky. Provides rubric that covers all competencies needed for each assignment
izz gooooood!
Eckert is an awesome! He knows his stuff and gives a really good feedback. This class is not an easy A but it way better than half of the computer science classes out there. He hosts before parties and they are designed to help student if they are stuck with their code and he will work with you one on one. TAKE HIM! 10/10
This course was really fun. I enjoyed learning how to code in MIPS. His late policy is really fair, and there are not a lot of assignments, so it's a nice class to take with big classes. Prof. Eckert is super caring, and as long as you have good time management and you watch the lectures, the class can be really fun.
I really like this professor I have had him for 3 semesters so far and he has amazing lectures and his class is very fair. He doesn't accept late work but he does allow you to make another attempt (up to a week for resubmission) on assignments and labs if you didn't receive full points. I highly recommend this professor.
Start early on the labs/assignments as they can take time to complete. The first half of the semester is very heavy but second half is manageable. Professor Eckert is knowledgeable and can help you during office hours.
Professor Eckert is very fair and clear with his policies. The content was difficult at times, but he always responded promptly to any questions or concerns I had. On some assignments, extra credit is offered for students who want an extra challenge.
He is secretly an Android called Android 60. He fought Goku one time in a tournament called Battle of the Demi-Gods. He gave the most dad response anyone could give to a losing Goku "Nanomachines, son. They harden in response to computer trauma."
Please ignore Cooler Me at the bottom, he can be dumb sometimes. Overall, Professor Eckert is a great teacher; anyone who is interested in Computer Science as their major would definitely enjoy his class. He is also super funny, having a grudge on Von Neumann, Kenneth going under the Witch Trials, and calling Zagar a Mercury 7 astronaut. Jajajaja!
It's a difficult class but he is a good professor, his online class has quite a few videos but take your time and ask questions when confused. Do not get behind that will hurt you, overall I would take him again if I could.
You can tell Professor Eckert really loves his job, and he want to make sure you understand what is happening in each lecture. I thought his grading was fair, and plenty of time to do projects they weren't horrible, but they do take a while. I would say to heavily study the slides and ask for help either by him or the tutors.
Really good professor, highly recommend taking him
One of the best professors at EMCC. His lectures are all recorded so you can rewatch whenever necessary. He cares and wants you to actually learn and understand the material, he is also very helpful during office hours if there is something you do not understand. If you ever get the chance to take his class I would definitely take it.
Professor Eckert is amazing. He is available during office hours for any help on labs or projects. Lectures are very helpful and engaging. You can tell the professor really cares about his students and wants for them to be successful. I wish I could of had him for some of my other CSC courses.
The professor is extremely caring and knowledgeable. He explains the material clearly, making it easy to understand. I highly recommend this class.
Epic teacher, he makes the lectures interesting and easy to understand. Is willing to work with any students who might have questions on the course material. CSC120 is a very interesting class altogether. You learn about different logic gates, testing your knowledge in different software and hardware labs. Definitely recement this class in person!
Professor Eckert has a ton of background, industry experience, and passion for computer science. In his lectures he focuses on concepts and ways of thinking and solving problems. He is available for his students and is all around a great guy. I've left several reviews as I've taken several classes with him, but I can't recommend him enough.
Professor Eckert is an excellent instructor. His grading criteria is very clear and gives clear feedback for revisions. Take advantage of the extra credit given, as the projects can be difficult but if you reach out for help and read the book you should be okay. All-in-all great experience with this professor, highly recommend!
CSC230 is an interesting course but at times can be difficult. Do not be afraid to reach out for help as the professor is more than willing to. The lectures are made so that you can go back and rewatch so take full advantage. I really enjoyed this class and the material. Professor Eckert is one of the best computer science teachers I've had!
Out of all of the courses I've taken so far in my degree, I can say that Professor Eckert is one of the better instructors I've had. His video lectures in canvas are clear and have everything you need in them to pass the class. Since there aren't many assignments, I'd advise you to start them early so you don't fall behind. Good luck!
This class was packed with lots of new info. Stay on top of lectures, and you will have no problem.
Professor Eckert truly cares about all of his students and wants everyone to succeed in his class. He gives ample time to do assignments and communicates his expectations very well. As long as you read the chapters and watch the video lectures, you will do great. Can't recommend him enough. This is the third class I have taken with him.
Absolutely great teacher, however, the homework's difficult so make sure you work ahead! :)
Take his class—you'll learn a lot, which really helps when transferring to universities. However, the video lectures and materials are a bit short, so I sometimes felt unprepared for the projects, which can be time-consuming.
Made lectures and learning fun, it is a confusing subject but professor made sure to set you up for success
I took this course online during the Spring 2025 semester and I had an excellent experience with Professor Eckert. He is very knowledgeable about the content in the course and his lectures are very informative. Professor Eckert grades fairly and has a pretty relaxed late policy.
One of the best professors at Estrella Mountain for Computer Science. Very knowledgeable on the material, clear grading criteria, and relaxed late policy. Don't sleep on the projects though, if you procrastinate on the assignments they will stack up and become difficult to complete.
Lectures were good and he always starts with a slide of what was covered during the last lecture, that always helps when jumping into the next module, since everything builds on to each other. Don't fall behind and always use his method of writing down the problem on paper before tackling it on a computer.
My guy was chill.
This professor gives great feedback and knows exactly how to keep the class engaged. He has industry experience so the information he provides is also quite meaningful. Although attendance isn't mandatory, I'd try not miss any classes as each class has something even greater than lecture to offer.
I took this class with him twice—I didn't pass the first time due to life's ups and downs, but I still chose to retake it with him because he's just that good. He's super organized, always quick to respond to emails, and genuinely cares about his students. One of the best professors I've had!
Professor Eckert is the best online instructor I've ever had! The only reason I got a C for the semester was due to personal life issues and I fell behind, thankfully Professor Eckert has a very lenient late policy on Labs and Projects. I loved learning all the new coding languages. 100% recommend if you need a patient detailed instructor.
Overall a good prof. the class can be difficult due to the material covered however he will help when asked.
Professor Eckert was a great introduction to my programming journey! Although his course was challenging (due to the nature of learning coding for the first time), he gave students ample opportunity to succeed and multiple resources/ tips for extra practice. Highly recommend taking Professor Eckert for Intro to Programming (Java).
Very caring professor and clearly portrays many years of teaching experience. Knows everything like the back of his hand; being a great resource when in need of help with anything. Literally anything.
Professor Eckert was always very engaging during his lectures and one of my favorite things about his lectures were the “tricks” and silly things he created to help remember key terms or functions. They made the concepts more relatable and easier to understand. I would recommend anyone take to his courses.
professor eckert is such an amazing professor! i enjoyed his teaching style a lot as the concepts were explained well. his lectures are a little long, but they are so well-structured and the info is extremely important.
I've had a few different computer science professors, and Eckert is the best by far! The class is very interesting, and his lectures are very well laid out throughout the course.
I wish he had video lectures of the actual material not just having us read a really old textbook.
I feel like this is one of my easier courses. I can understand new machine languages and know what it does using certain data types. Overall, it is great so far.
Prof Eckert's CSC240 class was probably the best programming class I have taken. His video lectures are good, adding in humor. He is great with helping and pointed me in the right direction a few times. He did a great job of explaining the similarities and differences between languages. The only thing I would change is taking his class in person.
Great professor. Extremely knowledgeable.
Professor Eckert is one of the best STEM professors at EMCC. His policies for his class are the best, and he is a very humane and understanding professor.
Very helpful and ready to assist anyone that was having difficulties in the class. He was also very funny.
Professor Eckert runs his class in a manner at which projects and labs are due on the same days making it easy to keep track of. He teaches the topics through lecture videos online and textbooks, if you're making sure your staying on top of those, the projects and labs should be fine.
Professor Eckert is a super awesome professor. He has a generous late policy and gives good feedback on assignments. I would definitely recommend taking his class.
Professor Eckert is one of the best computer science professors I ever taken. He teaches his students as if they are Software Engineers, and he always has time for the students and gives office hours. His experience is better than a Colgate computer science professor whichs what my brother said when I brought him over to talk to him about compilers
Great class, be sure you do all the projects. The tutoring center is great too. If you need more clarification just message the professor he's very good at getting back to you.
Very easy going, very lenient. He's accessible outside of class (which was online for me). Super kind. Just be prepared to really learn the material and focus on turning your work in on time.
His Teaching Style and abilities are pretty good considering how he explains specific topics and resources.
I have only ever heard amazing remarks about Professor Eckert and now I see why. From the organization on canvas to the clear directions on assignment (and everything in-between), easily made this one of my favorite courses. Don't skip the lectures and stay AHEAD of your assignments.
Professor Eckert has decades of experience in Computer Science, and several years teaching. So is well overqualified to teach us, and he does an excellent job at covering the material im digital design, and sharing how that information can apply to real life. He ensures that his students are prepared for university.
Professor Eckert is by far one of the most entertaining teachers I've ever had. He made the classroom a fun environment to learn in, and with multiple years of experience in computer science and hardware, he is a must-have teacher if you want the skills to be successful in your computer science career.
He was the best professor I ever had! He's inspirational and is always reachable outside class.
Get to class on time, pay attention, ask questions, and make sure to attend classes. Eckert makes the class easy when you make the effort.
This course is great with him, as long you engage with the materials which is fairly easy to understand and you complete the assignments on time, you'll be good with him!
Great instructor, makes complex ideas easier to understand.
As a computer science teacher, this man knows his stuff. You will not feel as if you're learning from a teacher who doesn't know anything. It is important to go into this course with the determination to learn and not just to get an easy grade. You will walk away from this course with knowledge you did not come in with. 10/10 would take again.
I enjoyed the Prof's teaching stile and etiquette! He grades appropriately and gives great instruction for assignments. You just have to stay on top of the due dates and you'll be set.
Great Professor to have while taking this course, He's very knowledgeable about the content and gives very detailed lectures. Labs are fairly easy as long as your paying attention in class. He gives great feedback on assignments, explains exactly what you did wrong and will help you fix it if you ask.
Professor Eckert is amazing. The class is pretty difficult because it requires a different way of thinking, but Professor Eckert helps to break down difficult topics into catchy phrases. He uses a combination of group activities, labs, Kahoot, and candy to practice and solidify topics taught in lecture. All in all, take Eckert, you won't regret it.
Professor Eckert uses a mixture of labs, Kahoot, group projects, and candy to practice and solidify topics learned from the lecture. While this class was difficult at times, Professor Eckert breaks down difficult topics into easy-to-digest concepts. Be aware, he is very high energy early in the morning, so make sure you can keep up.
Prof. Eckert is very helpful. Don't be shy about asking for assistance! He doesn't assign too much homework, but the material in this course takes time to grasp, so finishing everything might take a bit longer, that's just part of the learning process. So just start early
Slides teaching style. Constantly checking in with the class to make sure everyone understand the material and is more than happy to help students. All in all would highly recommend this class.
Overall great Professor with solid jokes! Note: If you find that you cannot complete an assignment on time, you can just submit what you have and take full advantage of Professor Eckert's generous resubmission policy. I hope you have a great semester with this Professor! :)
This professor is a good professor and the provides the textbook in the library for students who need it.
Exams and assignments are based on the professor's lectures. He responds to questions via email. The textbook is a MUST, as some questions are pulled from it. There is A LOT of material covered, so be prepared to dedicate plenty of time to this course. Extra credit is available. It's an excellent course, but it is both time-consuming and difficult.
It's my second time taking Prof Eckert. He makes his classes/lecture worth your time, though attendance is not mandatory. He's very likable, funny, and most importantly, he knows how to teach the course's content. Lecture slides become available for download after class and are very useful for studying. I highly recommend him you'll thank yourself!
Awesome professor to work with.
Professor Eckert is a person who always cares about his students. He was always available to answer any questions I had, and he even helped me install the Java program via video call outside of office hours. He is always attentive and willing to help at any time.
Prof.Eckert was amazing, especially since I took him over the summer. His class started easily, but towards the end it got kind of difficult. He always responded pretty fast, I would highly recommend him. he gives feedback on what you can improve, so you can get full points on the homework. His extra credits are amazing and easy.
He is an amazing teacher and provides clear instructions on the homework and labs. Also, provides great feedback on assignments that are turned in. Very accessible to contact as well. I 100% would recommend you have him as a teacher and take one of his classes.
I appreciated the instruction provided. Additionally, grading comments were pretty funny as well. There is consistent work throughout the semester, but it is very manageable.
Always responsive when you reach out to him. Lectures are super informative, and gives clear rubric for all grades. 10/10 would take any classes taught by him in the future.
Amazing professor. Very knowledgeable and flexible on deadlines. Enjoyed his lectures, quick responses, and his genuine willingness to help each student succeed. I ended up falling behind but was never discouraged! Would recommend (definitely a class suitable for beginners like me) & would take again.
He is a wonderful CSC Professor! I'm finishing his class CSC120, and I'm very glad I took it in the first place. I'm taking it in the summer, but nonetheless his class and very much pass-able! He's very kind and accomodating - if you need help he will meet with you always, and is very quick at responding to your communication. He cares very much!
I don't anything bad to say about my professor he was very understanding and chill and I honesty had a very good time with him. He allowed for you to work at your own pace while also having enough time to caught up or ask for help if you needed it.
Professor Eckert was amazing! Although it was online his lecture videos were very in depth and to the point! I would recommend him any day!
Professor Eckert is an amazing professor to take this class with! His lectures go over every topic needed, and he responds within a reasonable time! I would recommend him any day!
Very good professor, please take him. I am doing everyone a favor, if you want to learn a cool subject and get an easy A. He will help you with whatever you need; in general, a great professor.
If you are confused, you can email the professor, and he will get back to you in a timely manner and will try to understand and explain the many questions or problems that you may have.
You will need to spend a lot of time studying to succeed in this class, but you will be amazed at how the concepts begin to make sense along the way. Professor Eckert does a great job of explaining each topic in his video lectures, which I found to be very useful.
Prof. Eckert was a great teacher. I took his online CSC120 class this summer, lots of material in a short amount of time ONLINE. I have not taken an online computer class before and I was very hesitant about it, BUT it was great. Prof. made the class very simple, and replied/helped me a lot when it came to Labs right away.
they are very understanding of other situations if told
Professor Eckert has been the best instructor I've dealt with. His lectures are interesting and broken down into easy to understand sections. He responds quickly and gives great feedback on assignments. He does a great job helping guide you to the solution if you get stuck and is clearly invested in the success of his students. 10/10.
Professor Eckert was helpful and clear, even for someone like me who struggles with this type of course material. He explained concepts with humor and relatable examples. I'd gladly take another class with him. His patience and passion for teaching really show in how he structures and presents his course.
The professor explained the content very well and left many resources available for the students
The course content was thorough and easy to follow. Detailed explanations were provided for all the assignments. The assignments and tests were almost always graded within 24 hours.
The teacher was invaluable in providing as much information as needed, including feedback to help better understand the topic.
If you want to learn Dig Design Fundamentals CSC/EEE120 take Prof Eckert's class. He knows the material, uses multiple methods (Lectures, Design Challenges, Labs, Homework, Test, and additional resources) to ensure you learn. You have to read, listen, practice, and study to do well. If you get stuck, reach out to Prof Eckert!
By far the best CS professor at MCC!!!! Shows genuine concern for your learning and is very understanding!
Professor Eckert was very helpful throughout the course. He provided great feedback that helped build up skills. I would recommend his course to others.
Professor Eckert was great, the course was easy to follow for the most part. Do not fall behind and procrastinate like I did. He is lenient on due dates and accepts late work but don't get lazy or you will fall behind. His lecture were entertaining and not at all boring, which is great for an online class.
Eckert is a great professor. His lecture were very entertaining which is great for an online class. He is lenient on due dates. Get ready to take on a lot of new information.
The class is easy if you do the work and ask questions. He gives you plenty of time, you just have to try.
Professor Eckert was a pleasant professor to have for a hard class. I enjoyed all the time watching his lectures and I thank him for helping me whenever I was stuck in a hard place in time. Make sure to do the work and don't procrastinate. Its not too big of a work load but it is dense. Ask any questions if needed and don't be afraid to mess up.
Great response time and always willing to help.
This is my second or third time with Professor Eckert and it is always a treat. He challenges his students while still offering a helping hand and phenomenal feedback.
Professor Eckert is a refreshing voice in a field of indifferent educators. I would definitely recommend them if you are actually interested in understanding the course competencies and not just interested in memorizing them.
He is great like really really good just lectures are not the most efficient especially now with better ways to learn imo. He is a great guy too really lenient especially when starting out and genuinely just wants you to get the education that you are paying for and takes that responsibility seriously.
Very Good professor! I really enjoyed taking his class over the summer
Eric Eckert, an exceptional professor, delivers hilarious and captivating lectures. His effective teaching style simplifies complex course information, making the class enjoyable for all students. I highly recommend this class to aspiring Computer Science majors.
He is really easy to reach out to and makes it really easy to get in touch with him when you have questions regarding the class work.
Professor Eckert is great at explaining the material!
I learned more from the professor's design workbook than the questions from the textbook.
The professor's ability to convey material clearly is great. It is all online but the video's created by the instructor are straight forward and help with guiding you through the rough patches. From the installation of the Eclipse IDE to the actual code itself is taught thoroughly through his videos.
this professors ability to relay information is impeccable! he is caring and understanding about effort and actually cares about you learning the material! 10/10
Easily one of the best online courses I've taken. Professor Eckert makes this difficult course more than manageable and even enjoyable at times. There are a good amount of extra credit opportunities and he is extremely generous with his late work policy. Do not take the policy for granted and start labs early!!
Great professor. The course format was very comfortable & workload was very manageable because there were just weekly assignments due Sundays at midnight. He also gives a lot of opportunities to get a better grade on assignments, and extra credit. Not test heavy, there were 4 labs that increase in difficultly & time needed.
Videos were informative but there were almost too many of them. Professor Eckart does a good job at explaining what each subject is.
The class itself is not too difficult but it is important to stay on top of assignments, and the lectures truly help as Professor Eckert teaches in a way that is easier than reading the textbook.
Professor Eckert organized this class very well and made for a great online experience.
Honestly a great professor. Grades quickly, answers questions at all times of the day, and has clear grading rubrics. Easy A if you finish the assignments and homework on time. Also has a lenient late policy and resubmission of assignments as long as you showed you tried.
do your work on time
This professor was great! He really know his stuff and explains the concepts well. It's not too bad of a class you just have to keep up with the lectures, labs and assignments. They do take a minute so make sure you get them done as soon as you can or else you'll fall behind, especially with the ASSIGNMENTS.
He has very good presentations and clear rubrics and instructions to follow for assignments.
Professor Eckert has lots of knowledge and makes his lectures easy to understand and watch. The lectures and textbook have a ton of good information on the programming languages.
He is an amazing professor, very knowledgeable in what he does. Please do yourself and take him if given the opportunity. He has a very clear course outline, very flexible with work, the pace of the course is adequate. Overall, an amazing professor, if you are passionate and willing to put in some hard work, you will pass.
This class is base on only 4 things, labs that are all done during class, 5 total book HW assignments, a few projects that can be quite challenging, and 4 exams. The professor is very funny, his lectures are quite straightforward and he lets you access them any time. He offers quite a lot of extra credit and his exams are not to bad if you study.
The Professor is really good with communication and easy to work with when your either stuck on homework or labs.
Very good professor, always responds within 48 hours and helps with whatever you ask with clear answers. There are a lot of video lectures in this course that are very helpful as you go though the lessons. Overall, amazing class and professor and I would definitely recommend to take any of his classes.
The way he teaches is clear and organized, making the material easy to follow. He's approachable and provides helpful feedback.
I really loved his lectures and the way he broke down the information. I will warn that the lectures are pretty long, so allocate some time for them throughout the week. It would sometimes take me a full 6 hours to finish one of the sections. This includes me writing notes and trying to understand to concept.
He is very caring and sweet. If you need help he will be more than happy to help you, bother him in morning because he's a morning person. He gives caring dad vibes. He really does care for his students. I would take him for all classes if I could.
Professor is amazing and his lectures are also very great! Lectures have a lot of material and this Professor explains everything great and how it relates to real world things. Definitely recommend to everyone!
Does communicate well but labs do take time so start them early.
Great class, looking forward to the next course with this professor
Professor Eckert is an extraordinary teacher who I have had for multiple semesters. He's well respected and knows what he's doing. His lectures are amazingand I highly recommend taking them in person if you get the chance. I had to transfer to online classes but his way of teaching didn't affect my online learning experience at all.
Professor Eckert was awesome for CSC120 this semester. Be sure to complete assignments on time and quickly as the course progresses. Some of the labs take time to complete, be sure to work on them in advance.
Professor Eckert is by far the best professor I have encountered. Not only is he thorough with his teachings, but he responds quickly and is always available to assist. Keep up and you will be fine.
His online lectures/presentations were very helpful and in depth. He responds back to inbox or messages super quick, even late in the day. Cracked jokes throughout presentations and was also reassuring to students. Assignments sometimes took a bit longer to figure out but again, he was always a resource.
I have taken Prof. Eckert online and in person and can say his in person lecture are leagues better than his prerecorded online stuff! All his in person lecture are great! If you have the opportunity, take his in person class when available.
He was great for this subject; the subject itself is tough however he is very knowledgeable and responsive.
This teacher is one that knows the course so well we helps other teachers i am glad i took his class.
Amazing professor, lectures were straightforward, if something doesn't click for you, he'll make sure to flip the switch in your brain.
Amazing professor, lectures are straightforward and easy to follow. Always makes sure his students is on the same page.
He's an amazing professor who genuinely wants his students to learn and succeed. He breaks concepts down clearly and uses real life examples that make the material easy to understand. Classes are never boring always cracking several jokes that kept me awake.
Had his online CSC 120 class. Lots of lecture videos, but they are worth the watch. He breaks down the dry and complicated concepts into plain language, and suddenly it's all easy to understand. Labs are straightforward, and he's highly responsive to questions. Lenient grading, but don't let the coursework pile up, it does take some genuine effort.
Our professor does it great job at teaching us the material, whether or not you are fimilar with the material, you will learn it. Our professor teaches us the material through lectures on slides, which he uplaoded to Canvas so you can return to them at anytime. This semester went smoothly, but I hear that next semester is going to be even better.
Truly a great professor, if you have any questions or concerns, he's more than willing to help.
He's a wonderful professor with a witty sense of humor. Seemingly difficult concepts were made pretty simple to understand.
This professor taught me how to count.(in binary) None of the work is especially difficult, but you need to put some time aside to get it done on time. If you let it pile up it can quickly get overwhelming.
Prof. Eckert is a great professor to have for this course, as long as you stay on top of your work u shouldn't have any problems, as he has great lectures and the content isn't too difficult to understand.
Great professor, lectures were engaging and well curated. Receiving feedback, help, and grades was never an issue. I would definitely recommend this class, there are many opportunities to excel and form strong peer relationships.
This course has been great, He allows you to resubmit for a better grade, he also give feedback on the issue and how to fix the issue.
This course is wonderful. Erick Eckert gives very good feedback and also tells you how to fix the issue. He allows you to resubmit for a better grade.
Very difficult to not pass this course, you just have to get your assignments done and know what your are submitting as majority of what you do in the labs and projects are on exams.
One of the best to ever do it
