Great prof, always helpful! Learned a lot
He is overall a very good teacher. He is very approachable and is nice about not giving too much homework, especially the week of a test. He at times can be a little difficult to understand but part of that is because of the class. Overall I would highly recommend taking him as a teacher.
He is a great math professor. I could understand him most of the time and when I didn't he was happy to help. The tests are pretty easy too.
Eric is great! Nicest guy at UMD but still knows the subject front to back.
Great instructor. I would recommend him to anyone. We never used the textbook and never had homework. He gave study guides and if you went to class and did the assignments in class you will pass the class with a good grade. I don't think anyone in the class with me that i knew had less than a B.
Eric is a wonderful instructor, very friendly and he knows his content well.
He is a very good teacher and is very easy to talk to and ask questions. Make sure you look over all your notes for exams! Overall pretty easy class!
Does a good job of giving lectures with notes. Puts all notes online. Gives exam reviews that are helpful towards studying for the exam. Exams are well written for the amount of time you have to complete them.
The class would be pretty easy if it wasn't so hard to concentrate due to Eric's hotness. I would highly recommend taking him, but be prepared to fantasize about him more than learn log functions.
he is a very good teacher! the class wasnt too hard either as long as you go to class or read over his powerpoitns that he posts online!
Eric is like a cross between Ryan Reynolds and David Beckham. He is like Brad Pitt from Troy hot. His hair is insane, like Robb Stark from Game Of Thrones but instead of just being beautiful, makes me want to grab handfuls of his luscious locks and bury my face nose deep breathing softly. His vector can span my dimensions any time.
Awesome teacher, always was there to help if needed and seemed to care about his students and how they do in the class, would recommend to anyone
Eric Erdmann was the reason I passed finite math. Not only is he easy on the eyes, he provides many example to each type of problem. When my exam score improved, he personally emailed me telling me to "keep up the great work." Couldn't have better things to say about this professor.
Erdmann was awesome. Very easy to understand, and made math almost easy. His homework is easy and only once a week. He's a cool dude already. Would highly recommend him.
Very nice. Will help you if you ask. I just don't really like the format of the class I'm in because it's like a self-teach online class but I still have to go to class which sucks, but that's not the professors fault. Attendance is a part of your grade so beware of that. Overall good professor.
Eric has been the nicest and most straightforward math teacher that I've ever had! He is very honest and direct about that concepts are important and what (if anything) you won't need to memorize for the quiz.
I took calculus, so you have to put some work into it to learn the criteria. But Eric is really knows his material and is always there if you need help. He would have reviews before exams that helped a TON. If you did the review and understood that well, you could at least get a B on the test. Tests and quizzes are easier, homework is harder.
Wonderful professor, personally cared about each student in my 50 person class. Go to discussions for many extra credit opportunities. Brought us cookies on the last class before the final! Gives great explanations and is constantly available to help students. I felt very welcome at office hours. He firmly believes there are no dumb questions.
Choose him for a professor. Makes everything crystal clear and is there to help everyone. No questions asked, best professor.
Awesome teacher. His lecture is very clear and great. There are 2 tests and final. Weekly written homework, online homework and quiz. He is also helpful. When i missed online homework, he just extended the deadline. The test will include about 10 problems and easy. Just take his class if you want to get A. Best professor i have ever had.
He is pretty great, friendly and a great teacher. He makes everything easy and clear.
He is clear in his lectures, the quizzes are easy, and beware of the homework he assigns because there's a quite a bit. Overall, he's an easy A.
Had Eric for both College Algebra and Finite Math. He's an awesome professor! He is always willing to help if you have a question and he is a nice guy. He's also very cute ;)
Great teacher. Never been good at math before, but he spells everything out for you. Would definitely recommend!
He is a very good teacher.
He cares when you get stuck in an elevator.
Eric is a great guy. The class was structured in a really great way to learn. Having only 1 lecture day a week, the rest of the days were designated for doing weekly notes (graded), and online homework/quizzes which are due each week and completed at your own pace. Eric was very approachable and clear to our class, and made math class not so bad.
Eric is a really cool guy, great teacher, and really good looking. He can be a bit confusing at times, but he keeps the lectures and discussions open to questions and fun. Overall would definitely recommend Eric.
Eric is pretty laid back and does a decent job with keeping you awake for math lectures. He does give out a ton of homework though, and not a lot of extra credit. Just ask to meet with him outside of class and he will help you understand anything you didn't get. He's cute, but a bit awkward.
Super helpful and nice professor. Cares about all of his students and wants to help everyone succeed to do their best. Go to his office hours and he will walk you through all your questions. I would recommend him to any student who is good or bad at math.
One of my favorite professors I ever had! Super helpful during class and even better during his office hours! Only gripe is that the homework is very challenging at times but he is always around to help you out if you need it.
Homework assignments were twice a week with a quiz or exam once a week. Attendance wasn't checked but skipping class would make understanding the content a nightmare. Overall a super nice professor that was approachable and made the class easy to understand.
Eric is the bomb . com. A real lad. 10/10 would take again.
Had him for seminar, super cool guy and always there if you need anything. Very laid back, has a man bun and sometimes brings doughnuts if you're good. He's a professor who actually cares about you and wants to get to know you.
Eric is an amazing professor! He is super understanding and cares about each of his students. He is flexible and makes time outside of class for help if needed. I would recommend him to all incoming freshman. He is super chill and its never awkward feeling during class.
Although the course can be dry, he is extremely helpful. I recommend going to him whenever confused on the subject matter.
Love him and loved the class. 100% would take any math class with him.
Eric was awesome! Best math professor I have had by far. His office hours were so easy to want to go to because he was nice and really great at helping with what you needed help with. 10/10 would take him again for another math class. Hands down great guy.
Eric is an absolute unit. Failed a particular math course in the previous semester, and had Eric for my second time around. If I had Eric the first time, I would have passed with flying colors. He is extremely helpful and is determined to answer your questions in a way that leaves you mastering the concepts. Would definitely recommend.
Erics lectures were always a blast and he really helped me understand the material
Eric is by far the best professor I've had while at UMD. He takes time during his lectures to answer questions and is easily accessible outside of class. He puts all his notes online, so you don't really have to go to the lectures.
If you have the chance to take a class with Erdmann, do it. I just finished Calc III with him and he takes a hard class and makes it easy. He goes over lots of examples that are helpful on the weekly homework assignment. The tests are similar to homework questions and he cares a lot about his students. Easy to approach and always willing to help.
Eric is one of the best professors I've ever had. He explains things in the most simplistic way so that everyone can understand it, and he still asks if we have questions because he makes sure that we're not lost. His tests reflect the material and there are no surprises on them. Hardest thing is webassign, but the exams/quizzes don't reflect it.
By far one of the best professors at UMD. He explains everything very well, doesn't make lectures too boring, and is very accessible outside of class. The homework and quizzes are harder than the exams. If you follow along in lecture and get the help you need to understand the material, you should be good.
Eric is one of the best profs in the math dept. He cares about the students he teaches, hes efficient, and he knows what he is doing. But he is also super laid back and more than willing to help you when you need it. Homework, including his additional problems are very fair, as are the exams. Definitely take Eric for a math class if you can!
great teacher
Incredible professor, so good at explaining things, made me truly love calculus
Great professor, always willing to help and work around problems, even if that problem is missing your final... overall great guy.
Eric is really great. The class was pretty easy and lectures were kinda fun. He's extremely helpful, funny, and answers questions very well. He's clear on what is expected and makes sure that everyone is following before moving on to the next problem. Overall, he's an amazing teacher and I would definitely take his class if I were you.
Lectures are really useful so I recommend going even though it's not required. If you pay attention in lecture and discussion and do good on the quizzes and homework, you should do fine on the exams.
Eric is a very chill guy and made calc 1 pretty enjoyable. Not always super organized as far as what is going to get done in class but overall a great professor.
Realistic expectations and teaches the material very clearly! Would have taken all my math courses with him if I could have.
Take this class with Eric Erdmann!!! You know those chill high school teachers? Well, that's him. He's so funny and teaches the material very well. I don't understand math, but he made me want to actually show up to some lectures. By far the best professor in the math department.
Eric was a super great professor. His class is very easy if you pay attention in lecture and he is VERY clear about what concepts will and won't be on exams. He gives you the benefit of the doubt when grading too and if you show your work at least, he gives you the majority of the points.
Best calc professor, especially if youre planning on taking higher level calc classes. He knows what hes doing and he knows how to explain it.
Eric is the best teacher I've had in my entire schooling career!! I wish and hope I can get him again throughout my four years here. He is super caring, funny, and a really good teacher! Love going to his class each time and look forward to it every week. Brightens my day and gives really accurate tests specific to what we are learning! 10/10
Lectures are good and notes are posted online. No clickers. Weekly online and written homework can be a lot on weeks with a lot of material, but manageable. Weekly quizzes in discussion weren't bad, during exam weeks you have a group project in discussion. Exam reviews are very close to actual tests. Eric is a great professor, I'd take him again.
Professor Erdman wants everyone to succeed in his class and will do what he can to help make that happen. Lectures are interesting with time left for questions. He is always available outside of class and encourages students to come to office hours if they have additional questions. Great professor, definitely recommend
Eric is awesome. Hands down best professor so far at UMD!! He teaches in a very understandable way and he cares about the success of his students
Teaches math amazingly with clear, easy to understand examples and explanations! He's a young, funny, caring professor who loves math and it shows! His classes are never dull and he's incredibly helpful. His workload is not excessive and exams are very fair and not tricky at all. I use to hate math and this prof helped me come to love it!
Best math teacher I think I've ever had. He's really willing to work with students and is great at explaining things in ways that make sense.
Amazing lectures, he explains everything so clearly and answers questions really well. He uses WebAssign which gives you easy points if you take the time to do it, plus it helps you to learn the material. If you are looking to actually understand Calc1 take it with Eric, he's great.
I took the class during COVID-19 in the Summer 2020 term. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM. He is the best teacher I have EVER had. Please do yourself a favor and take the class. You will learn a lot.
I started this class without any hope in passing, but at the end I went from a failing grade to a B- ! Eric is really considerate so he was willing to work something out with those who had a lower grade. He checks up on us and I honestly can't thank him enough. Want a professor who truly cares? Eric is the one! HANDS DOWN! Just communicate w/ him.
Eric is a great professor! He really spends time with helping you understand math. At the beginning of last semester, I didnt believe in myself in passing. But with the help of Eric, I was able to pass with a B. he really makes sure you understand everything and clarify things within the course. Definitely recommend taking a math course with him!
Eric is by far one of the best professors I've ever had! When I took his class I wasn't a loud or question heavy student, but anytime I would see him passing in the hallway he would always wave and say hi. He really cares for all his students and wants you to succeed.
I had Eric for calc 1 and he was a great professor, so I decided to take him again for calc 3. He made us do an online course, read a textbook, and watch YouTube videos instead of providing a lecture. The only thing Eric taught me this semester was that a 40 dollar online course can do his job better than he can.
I had him for a college 101-type class so I can't rate him as a math professor, but he was super chill and relaxed. Course content was pretty basic so he was fun with teaching and class time, Canvas was well organized, attendance not mandatory but important.
I've given myself 2 weeks to calm down about this course and Eric's performance in hopes of being "more nice" in the review. Long story short my opinion hasn't changed. This guy is a joke. Eric did not lecture or teach Calc 3 this semester. I'm not just saying that, he did not contribute anything towards this course. He's as lazy as they get folks!
I hate professors who don't teach. Essentially we have to teach ourselves in this class. He gives us a HUGE "guided" practice book, long online hw, quizzes every week. Attendance isn't mandatory - and that's because he doesn't teach anything! If math is something that doesn't come to you easily, avoid him.
Eric is one of the chillest profs I've ever had. He is extremely flexible when it comes to due dates and is very helpful. The structure of this class is a bit difficult to adjust to, but it's the only way pre-calc is taught at UMD. He really values the students that actually go to class, so I suggest doing that. Taking him again next semester.
Eric is a super cool guy and is very laid back. I had him for calc 3 and his lectures were quite clear. The homework can be challenging but he spends class time going over problems if you have questions, and don't be afraid to ask! He makes sample exams for the test that are very similar to the actual exam and is a great tool to study!
If you are scared of Calc 3 at all, take Eric. Very personable and funny. Makes almost everything in the class super easy to learn. BIG bonus is he takes all of the class notes in One Note so we can view them from canvas. Homework is rough sometimes but very helpful.
Eric was a great professor, he is always willing to help with any question you need and is always in the math lab too or responds to emails quickly. 10/10 professor
Eric was one of my favorite professors. I showed up to class the first week and after that I never went. Ended up with over 100% in the class since there is a lot of extra credit opportunities. He makes worksheets before the exam that are very similar to the tests, so tests are easy. He is a great guy and really cares about his students
Amazing! If I was confused about anything, I could always ask or email! Also, for exams, he would grade fast so I would know my score ASAP
Eric is probably one of the best math professors I have ever had. He is always understanding and wants every student to succeed. He goes over lots of example problems that clarify the material.
Eric Erdmann... more like Chad Erdmann. There's a reason this man is a 5/5. The homework, quizzes, and guided notebooks can be a lot when you do them last minute, but the tests are ridiculously easy. It's like basic math problems but from the lesson. Been to class 4 times this semester and I have an A.
10/10 professor, wonderful guy, always willing to help, understanding, Final was online and open resources. Awesome class definitely recommended
The way this class is designed is that you have a guided notebook and an online textbook that correspond with each other. You learn from the textbook rather than in actual class. It can be a lot (there's also daily math HW), and this workload will somewhat test you. Although the course load is heavy, Eric is by far the BEST professor I've ever had!
this guy is a really nice professor. if you get the chance take him for sure. really laid back and is understanding about a lot of things.
Love this guy! He's super chill, kind, and intelligent. Recommend!
He cares about his students and does his best to make math somewhat fun. Grading for this course was based on homework, quizzes, and exams. This semester the tests were online. Easy to succeed in this course and prof is easy to communicate with and understanding.
he is a true homie, he is funny, and really interactive. he helps students with questions they have, shows tips for exams and quizzes, and his math workflow is easy to follow along as he shows work. his lectures are more structured on what help the students need, and prioritizes reviewing before quizzes and exams
I loved Erdmann, the class itself was pretty quiz-heavy as they were once a week and 10 points each - but if you completed the worksheets they were often times identical. The homework and tests are all online and you have about a week to do them - but most of the time they were either easy... or the answers could be found online.
His class is very easy to follow and stay in touch with. He teaches in a way that everyone can understand and cares about how everyone is doing. He gives helpful worksheets in class that are not required to be finished, but instead are extra practice that he reviews on the board. Overall, an incredible professor.
Eric is a very nice professor that gives great examples. Homework is online along with the exams. Weekly quizzes are the only thing that isn't graded online because you will take them with your TA on paper.
