He's a good guy who plays mean chess. He was never able to beat a certian sax player however, and should rethink his opening moves. He also likes Maden Voyage a tad too much.
Although I now attend St. Thomas (a much more expensive school), Eric Graham remains my favorite college professor. He has such a passion and an awesome personality. It's easy to get involved because he makes everything interesting. A VERY nice guy.
One of the best teachers i have taken at any college. Great personality and very nice. Gives good lectures with interesting group discusion. Although i tranfered to 4 year school, I plan on taking summer class just to have him again.
an intelligent guy who is passionate about music. A very fun class. Any guy who can cry durring Jimi Hendrixs'"Star spangled banner" is alright in my book
A huge passion for musis that can be understood by all students and like Rush which is the best band of all time Go Drummers
TAKE this class! This should be a requirement! You will never look at music the same after you take this course. Talk about a teacher that opens your mind... wow.
Had him for a Saturday class. Any teacher who can make me wake up early on Saturday excited to go to school is a damn good one! I'd reccomend taking this class the full length, but if you're a busy person and only have limited time, then take then definitely Saturday class!
This is just an all around cool dude. His lectures are intrusting and informative plus he’s a musician himself so he knows his material.
The BEST professor EVER!! Take him for whatever class you can. I am musically illiterate but he made reading nots, playing the keyboard, etc so easy!!! He is ALWAYS there to help.
Aside from his bizarre liking for Laurie Anderson music (?) He is a wonderful teacher. Very kind, calm, and dedicated. Anyone who tries in his class will get a good grade.
Best professor I have ever had. Plain and simple. he is hilarious and makes everything interesting. Made me excited to go to class.
Awesome teacher who made me interested in music I couldn't care less about (like jazz). And on the plus side he dosn't grade on attendance. Definately take this teacher.
i tihnk he uses the same tests for world of music and rock and roll history, i got to do a report on pink floyed for world of music wtf?
Awesome teacher, this dude knows his stuff and knows how to pass that knowledge on to his students. Combo is the****, and so is the Popular Music class, makes going to class something I wouldn't want to miss.
All you have to do is ask this guy. Graham is willing to answer any question, and help any student. Besides the school work, he is a really cool guy, very aproachable outside of class. If you have a real intrest in music, take at least one of his classes.
Great class works as music credit and art credit at most state schools...prolly the best class at century...graham will entertain you while you learn about stuff that is intersting to anyone who likes any type of music...forsure take this class if you are normal...
Very interesting and funny teacher! He is really smart. I always enjoy his class and bonus side he doesnt take attendance because he understands that its our money that we paid for the class. World music class was really interesting.
TAKE THIS CLASS. he puts history in a totally new perspective. very very smart guy and the class is about popular music - what's not to like? he has one major paper due at the end of the semester - album review - it's not a bad subject to be writing about, but DON'T START IT THE NIGHT BEFORE!!! it's time consuming
Very helpful teacher, always makes sure every student understands what he is teaching, and if you didnt understand he'll pause the class till you do. I was absent a few times, just a little studying, and boom i got an A!
Great class! Would recomend to everyone that likes music! If you 40 yrs old you already know all the class has to teach! Easy 'A"
Awsome teacher, you will learn a lot. Do not expect an easy A, you have to read and go to class. All around great experience.
As others have said,Graham's class is fun and easy.If you are a music nut you owe it to yourself to take this class(go full semester tho--1/2 sem summer=2 short!)It's not just TRENDY pop music he talks about;he goes over delta blues, the doors, eminem and everything in between!tests are so easy a chimp could get an A!u watch vids+listen to the bands!
He's an awsome Teacher!!! He's very clear and detailing.. you'll understand it a lot better. His exams are pretty easy if you study. Expect alot of faul language for those of you who's not comfortable with that. Overall, he is a great teacher! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANYONE TO TAKE HIS CLASS!! he's freakin awsome! :)
A good teacher only in that he makes the topic interesting BUT his use of foul language ranks him in the gutter. What a shame Mr. Graham is not able to communicate on a more civilized level. Unless you enjoy degrading language used as common verbage, find a different professor.
Eric is a phenominal teacher and an interesting and very knowledgable guy. His method of teaching is engaging and enjoyable. He is an avid user of profanity and particularly opinionated, but is very respectful to everyone and will tone down if his language makes you uncomfortable. recommend that everyone at least meet the guy once while at Century.
He was a great teacher. He made music very interesting and fun! You have to attend class because his lecture is the test. Only two tests, that is it and they are easy! No homework, no reading, no quiz. He is also very passionate about a lot of issues surrounding music and his life.
Eric Graham is a laid back teacher, that is passionate for most of the material that he covers. He gives a hilarious, easy to understand interpretation of the material that will be covered on the 2 tests that will accumulate your final grade. So far, I really enjoy this 1day/wk class and recommend it for anyone who is interested in popular music!
World music was a bit harder than Pop music, but well worth it!You'll learn about classical music traditions from around the world, and how our American ways are starting to ruin them(sad but interesting). There were a few difficult parts early in the class, but most of it wasn't2bad.There are mult ch/listening tests.Musicheads will love it!
Took his online popular music class, and it was a breeze. Every week you write a short essay, participate in a discussion, and take a 10 question T/F quiz. That's it. Nice guy, easy class!
I loved this class and Mr. Graham. He was so nice and really knew his stuff. I learned a lot, and really enjoyed going to class. Take this if you can!
An extremely easy class as long as you show up most of the time and take good notes. Most of the material he covers in his lectures is common knowledge. Don't buy the textbook, he doesn't use it at all. My only complaint would be that he mentions his personal life/opinion too often which can get rather annoying.
Don't buy the textbook. He is hilarious! And you can really tell he loves what he does. He gives enthusiastic lectures and makes them all interesting and easy to take notes from. He was the best music teacher I have EVER had :) I would recommend him to everybody!
I think he is my new all time favorite teacher! I loved going to his lectures every week...he knows exactly what he's talking about! Very funny guy and not boring! Very easy to follow, and very easy tests. Would love to take a class with him in the future!
I had him for world music. I have to say the class was incredibly boring. But the teacher is fantastic and it's incredibly easy to pass. You won't regret taking him.
Very opinionated professor. Took the online class and it was all discussions and quizzes. Discussions are answering questions about a topic and quizzes are 10 questions and straight from the book. Make sure to read the syllabus for due dates it is the only place they are posted.
he is an awesome teacher!!! Love his teachings and he knows how to add humor in them! Knows what he is talking about and most of his exams and quizzes are based from book and lectures! an easy going Prof! would not mind taking this fun class again!
I took this class online in the summer. It was extremely easy. There's ten questions T/F due every week and then a weekly discussion. Which is solely based on your own opinion. It's also pretty interesting so take it.
I took this class online and thought it was great! I thought I knew most everything related to this subject, but I was wrong. Great course, and nothing but praise for Mr. Graham and the awesome job he does with facilitating this course. Two thumbs up!!!
Don't buy the textbook, you won't need to. Everything that you're tested on is given in lectures in his class. One of the easiest A's I've ever gotten.
Easy class. Weekly discussion, quiz, and peer review (comment). Interesting information I would not have known if I hadn't taken class. Easiest college class ever taken. You need the book to take the quizzes but don't need to read it (I didn't). Discussions require some research. :) I don't know the professor personally so no comment.
Great musicologist. Keeps you interested. Chooses good material for lectures. Very unique personality, you'll be glad you met him. If you show up and pay attention, you'll get an A. I'm a musician, and he probably has the most diverse knowledge of music out of anyone I've ever met.
Online MUSC1045 Pop Music in Amer Soc. This was by far the easiest class I've taken. There are 12 tests from each chapter due once a week. By the 5th weeek I had them done. Then spew some BS about a weekly topic in the discussion area and respond to another persons BS. DONE. Forrest Gump would get a A- in this class. Easy A if you do the easy work.
Easiest class by far and a great guy and I have learned a lot!
This online was course was so easy. No pop up quizzes, no midterm exams, no final exams. Just participate in the weekly discussions and weekly quizzes. You'll be fine. The amount of work was just fine.
His lectures are very interesting. Knowledgeable and engaging.
Seriously one of the easiest classes to be taken, but that doesn't mean I didn't learn a good amount of material. My only complaint would be that, as a smarter student who was cruising pretty fast with the material, when I needed help, he was a little annoyed by the fact because he had other students who we further behind. Still, CRAZY EASY
Easy class, but since it was online there was a lot of reading for the weekly quizzes. A lot of his quiz questions tricked me as well, so I ended up getting some bad scores on the quizzes, which was frustrating because I understood the chapters pretty well and I'm in Phi Theta Kappa. When I emailed him about his tricky questions he was rude to me.
I took world music with this teacher. I really enoyed the class, it was more about culture I think. Class was intersting. You do have to study for the exams. If you study and go to class everyday you will do well.
Class was one weekly lecture and two tests over the entirety of the semester. Mr. Graham's interpretation of music history is the lesson of the day but the test is strictly factual based. The importance of this class comes from his unique background. Youll gain a higher understanding of music and its implications in your own life. Worth your time.
Eric's class was awesome. Took as a summer online course. Something around quizzes which I didn't even need to book for, and around12 discussion posts which weren't based on the material, but your opinion on different artistscultures. Easy class, but very interesting.
His World Music class is interesting, but I didn't take away any long term information. There's only two assignments, the midterm and final. In our class we took an essay and a final test. They were both long and tricky, but when that's all the semester is graded on... He goes on story-rants sometimes, depending on your mood, it could be fun.
Eric is super easy going and outlines everything needed to pass this class; discussion posts needed a required a word minimum and responses to discussion posts did as well. He is not tough if English is challenging for someone and reviews the content to see that it meets the requirements by answer personal reactions to things and others reactions.
Funny, with absolutely no hold-bar in class material. He had everything laid out immediately with a work-at-your-own-pace kinda feel. Due dates are in place, but are totally spaced out so you don't get swamped. There's no need for clarification, but if there was, I know he'd explain everything really easily.
Mr. Graham is a great teacher, but he tends to explain what he is going to do instead of just going ahead and doing it. Which may or may not bother you (it bothered me a little). He is very respectful of peoples opinions and beliefs. Overall a great class we only had 2 tests, and he gave us an optional extra credit paper that no one has ever done.
Is a Libertarian. Hes Passionate/Opinionated never a dull moment in class. Usually tells you in his lecture whats the nugget on test. Would Take Again. Follow his lecture notes from online while in class editing them as u go. Textbk not req. Class was fairly easy to understand NOT HARD TO GET a B or higher Extra Credit Option. always attend class.
I had so much fun in this class. I came in expecting to learn about music and I did just that! Mr. Graham is very approachable. He is incredibly funny and keeps the class interesting, such as by using visuals instead of just lecture. I would take this class again in a heartbeat. It's a very easy yet informative class. Highly recommend!
I decided to take this class on a whim and thought it wouldn't hurt to learn more about music, pretty easy right? Definitely right! It was an online class but Eric still made everyone feel like a family and made sure we all participated. I learned a great deal about American music and it's history and I will be taking more of his classes!
Even though he lectures everyday, it's very interesting. I don't want to fall asleep. When something will be on the test he'll tell us and hand out a study guide. The guy is hilarious and knows how to explain things. He knows what will make kids pay attention and knows what to say.
He's definitely the best teacher I had at Century and one of the best teacher's I've ever had. He's so funny and I was always very excited to come to his class. The class I took was a lot about culture and he always made sure to point out that as a white man he might have things wrong about other cultures and gave students room to correct him.
Recommend Music for anyone! Easy A online, which is what I took, and I heard it's easy A in class too. By taking it, you'll listen to music differently than you did before. Also, you'll learn a little of history with it.
His lectures are PP slides, music videos, demonstrations&discussions that are super interesting. 1 assignment-bring in a song that describes ourself to share. Otherwise show up, participate in discussion, and take good notes & you have an A. 1 test(final). Don't be late, you'll have to sit in the hall for the first 10. Fun&easy class to take!!
I took his Popular Music class and I loved it!! His lectures were great and he kept me interested the entire time. He was really funny and also very understanding. If you are looking for an easy, enjoyable class I highly recommend this class.
This is the only class I've ever taken at a College level that Im Genuinely excited to see whats being taught everyday. Never thought I would also be disappointed about a class being canceled until I took this class. Very fun and interesting topics and Mr. Graham is AWESOME! TAKE THIS CLASS
Even though I took this class over a year and a half ago I still think about the class. Eric is very honest and very funny. all you have to do is show up, nothing major. I wish I could take him again. he was the best teacher i have had at century, I always was excited to come to class and hated when class was cancelled. Take Eric you will love him
Took his class for popular music in American society and got an A. He gives out a study guide for every single lecture and he will tell you that it is the only thing needed to study for exams and tests. DON'T BE LATE. (Taking his online class of world music, tests have no due date, typing responses is the only homework)
I took Graham's online popular music class and it was great. Read a chapter, take a short quiz, and write a discussion post about a specific song he assigns. It was an interesting class, although the reading did get boring sometimes. I finished the entire semesters work in about two months, so if you pace yourself right it should be an easy A!
No homework for his class. All you need to do is show up and take notes and you will pass the tests easily. Funny guy. Easiest class I taken so far in college. You won't regret taking it.
I took World Music Online with Eric and ever since the beginning of the semester it was great. Eric is really great with responses. And this is by far the most interesting and easy-going class that I have ever taken at Century. This is a must take class and I got to finish even before the semester ended.
Online class. Recommend online book. Class ended sooner than the last day of semester. Textbook needed for quiz. Quiz every week. ONE ATTEMPT ONLY but not difficult. I wasn't sure if we ended the class or not and asked but no response from professor or students so I assumed class is over cause I finished all assignments /quiz already.
The best teacher ever. Eric makes the class more enjoyable and friendly. He made me like music and taught me how to listen music in an understanding way. I wish he could teach me more courses. Eric is the best!
His class is OK if you just want to get some credits- all you have to do are quizzes on the textbook and short discussion posts. But I wouldn't recommend him if you actually want to learn from his class. He isn't really involved, and asks questions like, (And I quote) "Is there something you want so much you would sell your soul to the Devil?"
Only complaint is online assignments were initially a but vague, but as soon as I realized what was expected they were easy to do. Don't expect teacher feedback. I missed two assignments and after the first few quizzes just phoned it in the rest of the semester.
Attendance was extra credit, but you won't want to miss the lectures. If you do, you'll have to get notes from a classmate. Lectures interesting and information filled. Grade made up of a few tests, which were short and easy. No homework. Eric was fun and approachable, and I feel I learned a lot. Note that cursing often inevitable in lectures.
Professor Graham is very intelligent and likeable, his Popular Music class consists of daily lectures, however he keeps them interesting and even adds humor to keep the class engaged. Attend class and you won't have any trouble earning a good grade. If you have questions he will answer them clearly and is very approachable outside of class.
This was the best and easiest class I have ever taken! I would definitely recommend taking this class for a music/art credit because it was so much fun and worth it. Great teacher who is very approachable and cares about his students. Makes lots of jokes and is very funny/relatable.
An easy A. There are 4 exams, but no final, papers, group projects, or textbook required. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll want to go to class to take good notes because your notes will be the only study guide you'll have for the exams. Eric is a really nice guy. Very energetic, engaging, & funny. I liked him and I really enjoyed his class.
Absolutely loved the way he presents his lectures. He speaks a lot of genuine stuff that really made me think a lot after class. I learned more history from this dude than a history class, and this is a whole music class.
I totally love Mr. Graham. His class was so much easy, fun, and amazing that I want to retake it. Just 4,5 quizzes in the whole semester and one quiz needs just 5 mins to do. Super easy because everything is in lecture notes. He will read what to write in notes. No textbook required. I could listen to music while studying. Could not expect more.
He is a good professor and fair question.
I took this class for my fine arts credit. It was and Easy A. As previous students have stated as long as you read the text, take the tests and do the discussion posts you will pass.
great guy
He replies to emails and seems like a great professor. I learned a lot of new artists, bands, albums, songs, everything. The textbook use is a lot, but if you skim it makes it manageable. I didn't dedicate a lot of time to this class. I didn't really see this class like my other classes. He made it fun to listen and learn about music.
Graham lays out the entire semester on the first day. He is an easy grader on discussion posts. As long as you read the required material, you can easily earn a good grade in his class.
If you are looking to get your art credit done and less painful then take Eric Graham's class. There is a textbook for this class but it's super easy to do. Just have to do discussions and quizzes. Otherwise, in this class, you get to learn about the history of music and it's very interesting.
This professor is clear on what assignments are on day one. The grade is based on discussion posts and quizzes, which are easy. The textbook is also said to be required but I barely touched it. If you need a credit for goal 6 and/or 7, TAKE THIS ONE.
If you need credits and can take this class, you should take the course. The assignments are easy because you just need is to answer the questions, and it can be a sentence or paragraph. The discussions are also easy, where you read and answer the question and reply to a classmate. There also weren't any quizzes when I took this course.
this teacher is one of the best when it comes to understanding students tough times. he is super chill and funny and makes the class really fun. definitely recommend
Eric seems like a very chill guy. There are 10 assignments the entire semester and 10 discussion posts. If you put in a decent effort, you will not lose a single point all semester.
Just less than a month into spring semester, I have already finished the entire semester! Some people are also submitting in assignments and participating in discussions earlier than the due dates, so on an exact note, I only need to do discussion replies and then I am officially done for the semester. I recommend this class for first years!
I finished the course within three weeks into the semester. That should tell you everything.
Graham made class super enjoyable and made me look forward to going to class every day. Super funny guy with lots of fun stories. He makes learning an enjoyable experience. The workload in this class was VERY light (we had 3 quizzes the entire semester and no homework). Would highly recommend his class!
He makes it clear that he doesn't like online learning. A lot of his discussion questions are weird & redundant. I didn't open the textbook once because his quizzes are true or false, so just google the answers. He doesn't even read our discussions and just grades it. Easy A. Terrible professor.
So easy a monkey could take. Class has a required textbook but you don't even need it. you can legit just google the questions for the quizzes and also the discussions he gives you 10/10 points just for posting and not even responding to other classmates. legit one of the EASYIEST online courses ive taken.
The course has literally been going on for three weeks, and I'm already done. Eric has everything laid out so that you can work ahead, and the quizzes/discussions/responses are all easy. The course material is fun, with some controversial topics mentioned, which keeps things interesting! Honestly, this course was even easier than Fitness Walking!
The class was very easy. Weekly assignments that don't take long to complete. Graham is a very respectful and laid back professor.
