Very straightforward, no frills class. Covers material exactly how he says he is, down to the time it takes to complete a certain chapter! Is not an oceanographer, but a physical scientist.

Mr. Harms is a very good teacher. I had him for both meteorology and oceanography. He always reviews everything before each test or quiz. His quizzes are take home or the answers you pick spell a word, and the tests are always exactly from his notes.

Have had Mr. Harms for 3 classes. He is an excellent instructor. No tricks, no unexpected "surprises": you attend class, study, take the test, and pass. You skip, slack, you sink!

Mr. Harms is an a wonderful teacher. Not only did he lecture but he brought in visual aids(really cool rocks and fossils) and showed movies to enhance the cirriculum. If you study and pay attention in class you will earn an A.

A very cool guy. Makes the class very interesting and fun. He has a silly sense of humor. We take notes and have tests. The tests are multiple choice and straight from the notes. Very clear. Labs and quizzes are easy. You dont want to miss a day because then you'll miss notes.

Mr. Harms is probably the hippest science teacher they have. The ties that he wears are just entirely too freaking awesome. Take his class. You'll dig his cheesy jokes....and you just might pass...

He's the clearest teacher I've had at BCC. A lot of the professors there are very scatter-brained and are somewhat unsure about what they're teaching. Mr. Harms knows what he's talking about and makes the class very fun, even though its mostly a "take notes, then take quizzes and tests" class. Its not an easy subject but he makes it very easy

I am not a science person, but Mr. Harms made it interesting. If you have a problem with any of the material, he will do his best to explain. Mostly the quizzes and tests are from the notes, so make sure you take good ones. Do NOT get that mixed up with 'you don't have to study'.

Mr. Harm is a great teacher. He really goes out of his way to make the class interesting. He also has a wonderful sense of humor. Just don't let him know that you like the movie "The Core"

i had Mre Harms for my whole science couse load of geology, meteorology, and oceanography. he is by far the best teacher i have had at BCC. it doesnt matter if you take his twice a week or once a week classes. he keeps me awake and thats all that matters. but i do agree with the fact that his test are always a little vauge sometimes.

By far the best teacher I ever had. He is very informative and knows what he is talking about. His test are tricky, but only if you don't study what you need to. If i'm able to pass his meteorology class with an A then its not because he is exactly and easy teacher, but because he knows how to teach. He is really involved with what he loves.

I hate science. I am horrible at science. I've never gotten better than a "C" and I got an A in this class. All the answers for every test are in the class notes, he's very straightforward and super friendly. The best ever...take him for sure! Especially if you're not good at science, he'll change your mind on the subject!

Very easy to pass. Take notes and be in class for exam reviews and you are pretty much guarenteed an A. Bad side is that he's really boring, tells terrible jokes, and seems to hate his job. If your looking for an easy A without learning anything, take this class.

Mr.Harms is the King!!!!!! I've taken every class he teaches and I always understand him. I enjoyed his classes mostly because I liked the subjects and wanted to learn more about them. I wish I could take every science class from him especially physics but he doesnt teach physics

you have to study a lot!!! but good class...you learn a lot too, but if u want a fly by class...this isnt for you...take a lot of notes...first day of class is a lesson...dont be late...come for every class...i enjoyed it though! Class subject could have made class really boring...but its not...a few videos in the mix...as i said not a fly by class

He is a really good teacher! He made the class very interesting. It is a very easy class if you pay attention and take good notes. He really doesnt like it when you miss class, but he is very understanding if you have a good excuse. I would highly recomend him!

Harms is by far the best professor I have had and this is my third semester. I can not say I love science but the way he broke down the information really got me interested. I would say most of the class will pass with a B- but if you pay attention in class and study a little there is no reason not to get an A--- This is my favorite class!!!

Definitely one of the most competent and professional instructors I've had while at BCC. Mr. Harms takes no shortcuts when it comes to teaching and makes the subjects very interesting too. If you take school seriously, take Mr. Harms.

Definitely one of the BEST teachers at BCC; they should all be like Harms. He is extremely helpful and is also available for advising. His notes are very detailed and easy to follow. Tests are derived from notes. If he sees you are trying he works with you and will even point you in the right direction on a test. ;-)

Mr. Harms was an amazing teacher and I really enjoyed going to his class every week. As long as you paid attention and took notes, there was no way you could fail the class.

Pros: Very clear and concise. Notes are detailed and useful. Knows the subject well. Cons: Wastes huge amounts of class time waiting for students to answer questions (out loud) that have either been beaten to death already or haven't been covered yet. Requires students to recite words and phrases in unison like 7th grade Spanish. Pedantic.

Absolutely the best teacher in ALL of BCC! I cannot more highly recommend this teacher. It is evident that he loves to teach and he will go that extra mile to make sure that everyone understands him. If you show up to class, take good notes and do the work, there is no reason to not get an A in this class. Wish I could take more of his classes!

What an awesome teacher! I'm NOT a science person and there really weren't any concepts that he didn't explain in layman's terms. The tests are a bit difficult, but as long as you study the notes and come to class you are good to go. I can't recommend this teacher enough!

This class really did teach me alot,before coming into this class i was pretty clueless on anything to do with the ocean, wind , waves and geography but amazingly enough i learned quite a few things.As long as you show up take the notes and study your notes you can pretty much expect to make a B if not higher

Going into class i was dreading i'd get a monotone, put-me-to-sleep teacher, bcuz in my mind, meteorologists=boring, but with Mr. Harms its different. He is very helpful and explanatory and seems fun and light-hearted. Easy to talk to. I had fun making pressure maps and enjoyed taking notes, for while extended, i wasnt rushed. Amazing Teacher.

I highly enjoyed Mr. Harms class. I had it early in the morning, but it still kept me interested even though I was most of the time exhausted. His tests were pretty simple, as long as you study and take all the notes. [: I recommend him!

Mr Harms is a very nice with odd sense of humor. His class was overall pretty easy as long as you come to class to take the notes and study the notes. Tests and quiz were all M/C and easy if you studied. Labs were the hardest part of the class did not explain them very well. If your looking for a easy science credit i would highly reccomend

Great teacher! You must show up and take notes and STUDY. He is funny and a geek, but makes the class interesting. He likes class partcipation. I got an A but had to study because the test questions can be tricky. I would definitely recommend him.

He's not a bad instructor. You won't spend hours & hours doing hw or studying for this class, BUT it's one of those classes where you barely have to lift a finger to get a B but it's next to impossible to get an A.

Relatively easy and teaches you about the ocean properly. Does not use book much and tests are not too difficult if you study your notes instead of trying to read the chapters. Goes over study guides before tests, allows you to do labs together and drops your lowest test grade.. Enjoyable class helpful teacher

Took harms for both met and physical geology. Simply the best professor I have ever taken, he teaches what could be boring material in a fantastic way that makes you really interestd. I had absolutely no interest in oceanography prior to this class, but I learned a lot and am actually glad that I took this class. Mr. Harms is very passionate about the subject and its always nice to find a prof. that likes what he does. Everyone should have to take this class, especially when you live in Florida!!!

I had Mr. Harms way back in 1987 and found his teaching style to be awesome. His organization was to be admired. He would outline his lecture on the board and we found out early that once he completed the subject matter, class was over. I learned so much in his two classes. meteorology and Phy. sci survey 2. Absolutely fantastic class. I took Meteorology dual enrolled and just loved it. I'm a Political Science major now -- but I would take his class again. His dry sense of humor and strong organization makes the class enjoyable, and the easy tests (if you copy and study his notes verbatum) will give you a good confidence/GPA boost.

GREAT TEACHER! He does make you take lots of notes but they are VERY well organized and he makes it SUPER fun and interesting. I would take him a million semesters if I could. As long as you show up and take notes you'll have a great time and HAVE FUN! He's awesome. Your missing out if you don't take Harms.

I had Mr. H. for two classes in the late 80's and I rated him already on this site. I want to clarify what I said. I said once he went over all his topic you could leave. This was true but the learning that went on was incredible. He is so organized and I thrived in that type environment. ty

Prof H is absolutely the best! Took Meteorology and loved it! He gives an outline each week of what will be covered. Test and quiz are directly from lectures. Take good notes, read the book, listen and you will be rewarded with a good grade. Wish he could be my professor for all my classes! Highest recommendation!

Mr. Harms is a really nice guy who seems really passionate about oceanography. Make sure to take good notes because that's what his tests are based on. His tests are pretty easy but sometimes it seems he's trying to trick you.

This guy is one of the top science teachers at BCC Melbourne. He already has enough glowing recommendations for everyone to gain an understanding of his enthusiasm and ability to teach even the most challenged students. Great notes = great grade. His classes fill up very quickly. TAKE HIM!!!

Mr. Harms is the best ever. I've never met a teacher so excited about their job before in my life. I'm taking all 3 of his classes :)He is so friendly and smiley, and he reviews before tests, and gives quizzes and labs as a buffer, as long as you show up and take notes you are basically assured an A in that class.

He really knows his stuff. Took him for oceanography. He will help you if needed. his tests are not easy A's, you do have to study for them. But if you study the notes you take in class then you'll pass it with an A.

He is helpful, interactive with his class, and his lectures are very clear. The homework is reasonable as well. I've got nothing bad to say about him.

Professor Harms was one of the best ones I've had!!! I took oceanography with him and it was so fun and easy. Quizzes are simple, tests are easy (I got an A on every one of them), and there is one paper that has to fill up one piece of notebook paper (only the front side!!) that I got a 100% on!! It is EXTREMLEY easy class and interesting, also.

I had this teacher for meteorology. It was very easy. Every class you take notes, he gives you the notes to write down. The night before a quiz or test I would advise you to look over your notes, to refresh your memory. He tells you what is on the tests and quizzes. If you miss a day you only will miss notes.

This is the second semester I've had Mr. Harms and let me tell you, his class is difficult and he really makes you work for an A, but his lectures are FABULOUS! There's not a lot of things getting graded, so you need to do well on the exams (there's only four) but if you focus and take notes, you'll do great. DO NOT SKIP THIS CLASS! Never used book

Absolutely love this guy! Walked into the course not really invested in the ocean, but he makes it super interesting and interactive. If you think global warming is a hoax, you'll love him too. His tests are clear cut and easy, if you listen to him and his lectures with decent note taking, you'll ace the class for sure.

He's an excellent professor that takes pride in his course. He's an honest, no hold back guy that will present his side of a position and will let you discuss yours. He doesn't believe in global warming and I love how he mentions that at the beginning of the course (again, no hold back guy). He's lecture heavy and you won't pass if you don't show.

This class was very fun and interesting. He relates a lot of information back to our home state Florida which I thought was cool. Tests and quizzes are easy if you pay attention and look over notes and book before hand. I would highly recommend this class.

Has amazing lectures, if you are interested in Earth sciences, I highly recommend him. You obviously need to study for tests and quizzes, but he wants all of his students to pass, and came up to me after I did not too hot on one quiz and helped me out. Really makes everything interesting and made me love meteorology.

Makes the material fun. If you show up and study for the tests you will get an A. One of if not the best prof I've ever had. Class is entertaining and you learn. There are 5 quizzes and tests (including final) but come straight from the notes and two are take home. You have to really try to not enjoy his classes.

Mr. Harms was a great teacher, highly recommended for Oceanography class. He does make you take a lot of notes, but they are easy to understand and sometimes you get to use them on tests. Few quizzes, not a lot of labs. Highest lab score replaces your lowest test score (at least in my class they did)

I expected this class to be pretty easy but that was not the case. There are many quizzes and exams which are very specific and require a good amount of studying to receive an A. It is possible to get a good grade in his class if you study hard. His lectures are a little boring but he is a really nice and funny person.

I was really expecting this class to be boring. The professor seemed a bit outdated for a first impression, but his way of lecture and note taking made things very simple, easy to follow, interesting, and easy to remember. The tests are tailored to his teaching style; the questions are worded the same way as the notes and the same way he speaks.

I loved Mr. Harms' class. Easy A. No homework. Just study the study guide before the tests and you'll be fine. It was the easiest science class I've ever taken. 10/10 would take him again.
