Eric Hass is really interested in his students getting a grasp on life, and how college can help provide that.
He is a wonderful teacher who inspires you in every level of your life. He is very passionate about his subjects and helping his students. A wonderful teacher for people just starting out or people who need a little push in the right direction.
He is an awesome teacher, I had taken him for Soci108 (i recommend)and PS101. He is understanding and very kind. He does not push you to do work but instead inspires you to do so. His final essays/end term research papers are cake if you work at them and dont put them off.
Hass cares very much about the people in his class and that is very clear. If you have a passion for the subject he is teaching don't take him. He spends so much time talking about other subjects that you rarely cover the assigned subject. It can drive you crazy. Otherwise, he was a pleasure and he has some interesting teaching techniques. :)
horrible his classes are soo boring he doesnt even talk about the book he just talks about random stuff.his class felt forever. i dont recommened it to no one, only if u want to get a headache
Good=he cares about you as a person, tries to help u in everything possible like jobs n scholarships BAD=all over the place, confusing at times, feel like your gonna fail every test and surprise quiz
Wonderful teacher, Learned a lot from him, teaches high level thinking and topics that relate to real world issues, challenging but worth it. Most Homework is just simply reading the book, really cares about his students. :)
His lectures are very disorganized, random and subject to tangents, ilogical. I frequently developed head-aches during class (not normal). Pop quize questions were on minute detailes from lectures, test questions were all from the text book. Essay is easy but instructions were vague, still takes points off even if it was his instr. error. Not fun.
Mr. Hass is THE BEST teacher I've ever had! I don't even know where to begin. His class was very interesting to say the least. He truly cares about his students and not only does a great job teaching students about the course but also about life in general. I plan on taking more classes with him and would def recommend him. He's also kinda cute :)
Mr. Hass is one of the best teachers i have ever had and really cares about his students. He is so sweet, he will go out of his way to help you if you dont get his class or just need help with anything. He is also kinda cute :) I will be taking him again and would definitely recommend his any of his classes
Class is easy, but doesnt seem to have much to do with the actual class content. Do the reading if you want to learn anything about sociology. But if you're just looking for a grade, show up and do the minimal work that Prof. Hass requires and you'll do fine. Paper requirement half way through semester.
Cool teacher. If you miss class, be sure to get notes from classmates, since lectures, documentaries and guest speakers weigh heavily on your grade. Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Offers help on improving your resume and advice on scholarships.
He seriously changed my life. This teacher is one of those ones that stays on your email list for the rest of your life. He knows ALL. Me and my friend call him Mr.KGB.
Professor Hass made an impact on me that no high school teacher or college professor has ever made before. He is extremely well-rounded and knows the importance in what you should know ,and what you should know is everything! HE WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
He is a really laid back easy going teacher. He really tries to teach not only what the text book has to offer but also what his experiences in college taught him. He is constantly trying to help his students realize their potential.
this class is so useless all throughout class he just talks about random stuff the tests are all out of the book ,he never goes any book material the videos are so boring.
Great teacher overall, you won't forget him. Bringing an enlightening perspective to many issues in today's society, his class left me with a better understanding of the world and my place in it. He wants you to learn and presents the material in a way that just about everyone can relate to.
Mr. Hass is an amazing instructor. I agree with a previous comment which stated that he makes you feel like you're going to fail everything. The textbook is a must and attendance is mandatory at ALL COSTS. While he initially struck me as a mad man, I found method to his aforementioned madness later on in the class. I would absolutely recommend him.
I absolutely loved this class! The lectures are very interesting, not at all about the text book, but about real issues. He has pop quizzes often based on lectures and others on the text book, which are actually pretty similar to the final exams. There was a term paper due about 3/4 into the class, he was only strict on the formatting
He is by far the EASIEST grade you will ever have in your life. He offers nearly endless extra credit. If you do not get an A, I really worry. He may make you stress about your grade a bit early on but really you could show up just on the day of the tests and get over 100%. He gives EC quizzes and so on. I had about 115% in the class.
Amazing prof, seriously. Very knowledgeable, truly makes you think, constantly keeps you interested and laughing. Cares about his students. Contest paradigm :) Only neg is the little use of the textbook, but it is still a major part of the pop quizes. Take notes! Make sure the research paper meets guidelines & DO EXTRA CREDIT, he offers a ton!
In the plus column, responsive to emails, shows a genuine interest students, gives endless Extra credit opportunities. There is a midterm and he is picky about the format. In the minus column, he never reviews the text book in class yet does ask questions from the book in his tests. Take lots of notes, read the text and show up. You will do fine
He was amazing. He has an I care policy. Plenty of extra credit. So if you fail his class, it is truly your own fault. It is ridiculous how much he cares for his students. He wants you to succeed.
I have him for soc 101 and ps101 and he is such a great teacher. Truly amazing. Very helpful. There should be no reason why anyone should fail his class. Offers so much extra credit. Take advantage of it.
A great teacher, lectures are interesting,Is clear on what will be on quizzes &tests.
The class itself wasn't easy, but if you're dedicated enough he definitely gives you all the information you need to succeed both in class and outside of class. Interesting lecturer; I enjoyed his class. The pop quizzes are the most unpredictable I've ever had, but if you're up to date on the readings you'll be fine! (I wasn't)
He's a great professor! He cares about the students and offers a lot of extra credit. The class might seem hard especially if Poli Sci doesn't interest you but show up to class and do your work and I guarantee you'll pass his class.
Best instructor I've ever had!!! He actually cares about his students!!! This is rare in todays world so if you have the opportunity to take Mr Hass then you should, it is a must...
Mr. Hass is a great teacher. He is very passionate, and he really does care about his students. One term paper, and this is really the only homework for the class. He does offer a TON of extra credit though for people who want to raise their grade. His quizzes are curved, and many times I would get 10/20, and he curved this to an A. Good Teacher
Mr. Hass is by far the best teacher I have ever had! I took him twice and received A's in both. Not only will you learn about the class but about yourself and life. Take him if you want an easier grade, and want a night class. He does talk a lot ...
His term paper instructions are quite confusing but he is more than willing to help, if you ask for it. He replies to emails SUPER quick. He allows tons of extra credit. Quizzes and exams are easy, just study all lecture notes and docs given. HE also hands out study guides which really help. Studying for the exams are easy. Really easy class.
Great teacher!! His classes are always interesting and the documentaries he shows are always good and interesting. Gives little quizzes throughout semester, based off notes and book. He gives tons of extra credit and has two tests and one term paper. Not difficult, has specific instructions but can get a good grade if you follow them.
Gives extra credit like candy. won't cover the book, expects you to read it unless you ask because his lectures are based on the CONCEPTS in the reading. So he might seem like he'll be talking about random things but everything he says relates back to poli sci you just have to look for it. If you do the extra credit, don't worry about the quizzes.
You can raise your grade from a c- to a+ through EC alone. Students love him, so be prepared to stand in a long line after class for a simple question. One weird thing, he teared up a LOT during the semester. He is passionate about his subject and lectures but it was pretty awkward when all of a sudden he would start crying. That was off putting.
Be prepared to take notes, notes, notes!! His lectures are like avalanches of words. The tests and assignments are very easy, but there is a big term paper to complete (which he is extraordinarily picky about). Very funny and inspirational. He really cares about his students, and will do anything to help you to succeed.
This was one of the most interesting classes I have taken. He talks A LOT, but if you can get past that, it is a pretty amazing class. He makes a lot of jokes and also gives a ton of extra credit opportunities- take advantage of it! He is really big on making sure you follow exact instructions, so pay attention when it comes to tests and papers. :)
please read the textbook and just do what he ask lol, he gives a lot of extra credit
The greatest professor I have had. Respects his students and actually cares enough about each one and helps them to succeed. I would take his class again even if i didn't need to for credits. So Smart and eager to fill your brain with knowledge.
Lectures are confusing when the professor talks quickly without clarity. Take lots of notes, they'll help you out for sure.
I took poly sci 101 last fall with prof Hass. He really prepares you for a university. His lectures are verbal so be ready to write and fast! He's funny and knows a lot about the subject.
Haas was an awesome guy. This is the first class I took where I was never bored. He always lectured about interesting topics. Although I wouldn't say the class is super easy Haas really cares about his students and wants them to pass. There are about 4 quizzes and 2 major tests. He offers a ton of extra credt so take advantage! I would take again
His classes are always interesting and the topics he discusses as well. He gives little quizzes throughout semester, based off notes and book. He gives TONS of extra credit and has a midterm & final. He cares a lot about his students and he let us know we can go to him in the future for help as well. Go to class and take lots of notes!!!
Very passionate professor with Intellect. Cares about his students and gives amazing advice to people who are unsure of what to do with their life. Will give you extra credit and tons of it! Pay attention to his lectures and take tons of notes. You are expected to read the book on your own but thats okay because the lectures he gives are phenomenal
Mr. Hass has some of the most amazing lectures. He is very pasionate about his work and wants to inspire his students to dig deep into the modern issues we face. The amount of extra credit can bump you a letter grade, and be prepared to take lots of notes. You learn so much in one class. Study guides are awesome. He can talk, but worth the listen.
I love this man
Very passionate, caring, hilarious professor. He cares about our future as students , he gives outside information very helpful does talk a lot but its interesting stuff. The lectures don't quite match the textbook, but he does mention little things. As long as you listen and do EXACTLY what he says you will do fine. EC is offered take advantage
It is a VERY lecture heavy class. Be prepared to write pages each class. All of his lectures, hand outs, and anything from either book will reappear in later lectures, quizzes, mid-term, and final. Always keep up on your reading. It would be easy if you keep everything get/write and bring it to every class in case he references to it(and he will).
I hated this class. i took him for sociology 101 and he is the most confusing teacher i have ever had. He doesn't go over the book and expects you to read it. His lectures are meaningless and he babbles about stupid things all class long. He offers extra credit but it is confusing too. I had a family emergency and he wasn't considerate. PASS RUNNNN
In the beginning of the semester I thought that Eric Hass was a decent professor until weeks later, and his lectures became rambles of irrelevant nonsense. Of course textbooks are needed for the class, yet he hardly uses it. The exams/pop quizzes he gives out is far out of reach from the lectures and readings he assigns. Taking anatomy 101is easier
Take this class online, you'll save $ and time.
Best teacher ever!!!! Very knowledgeable and loves what he does
Best teacher ever!!!! Very knowledgeable and very inspirational! Fun to learn
Mr. Hass is the best teacher I have ever had in my college career so far. He is very wise and sincerely cares about every student. He grades off a curve and offers lots of extra credit, it is impossible to fail. You must attend every class because he lectures heavy and you have to write out your notes. You will learn a lot from him!
if you take your education seriously then this is the class. I was able to get enough extra credit done that I was able to skip the final that was 75% of your grade and still able to pass with 150% in the class dude talks a lot but it will always be on a quiz and everything is curved. if you don't understand something reach out and ask.
Professor Hass is the best professor ever!!! I took his Summer class and he was so knowledgeable and interesting. His quizzes are based on lectures and the book (yes, you have to read it), he is also very approachable outside class. I would definitely take another class with him again. He cares about his students
Great class, I definitely learned a lot. Very lecture heavy so get ready to write a lot of notes. Tests are easy if you did the reading and took notes, and he grades the tests on a curve. He also offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. Try to always be at least fifteen minutes early for insights on quizzes and assignments.
This teacher is amazing. He has very long but interesting lectures and honestly, you will not forget this guy. He teaches you more than just political science. He teaches you about life and brings up many topics that are important. He truly cares about his students because he would go out of his way to find very helpful resources. not easy though!
Mr Hass might have long lectures but he is great because he takes the time to explain to you his stuff and he gives a lot of extra credit and he will always be a motivating speaker !
For those taking any electives that are available online, do so. I came to this class thinking that it would be one of the easier class, since I am Nursing major yet I was wrong. It was a workload and his quizzes/exams are far beyond what you learn in class. Its basically a guessing game, and his attitude can be perceived as unethical. Dresses bad
If you take your education seriously and want to learn something, he is the professor for you. If you want to coast through, good luck. You're expected to read/study text on your own. Lectures are anecdotes to reinforce the material in the text. Lots of extra credit!!! Essay & multiple choice for midterm/final. Must attend lecture AND take notes!
Profesor Hass taught me more valuable lessons than I could have ever asked for. He opened my eyes to many topics I never stopped to think about and for that Ill be forever grateful! He is truly passionate for what he does. Make sure you read the book on your own, before lessons. Go over the study guide and take advantage of the extra credit!
Eric Hass was one of the best professors at MSJC. I found his class interesting, informative and it taught me more than I ever thought I could get out of a class. He is very caring for his students and helps in any way he can. If you pay attention to the material and actually read the book, the class will be very easy.
One of the best teachers that I have taken at MSJC. Super nice, and helpful if you have any questions on the reading and the quizzes. Sometimes his lectures are a little intense, but he is passionate about what he teaches. YOU HAVE TO READ the chapters, and pay attention to all his lectures. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT, and make sure you buddy up to study!
Not like any teacher Ive had before, he can be a little eccentric but once you get over that hes a great teacher. He honestly cares about what he does and gets pretty passionate every class. He goes off on tangents a lot but its not too bad bc he keeps things fairly interesting.
Very easy class. He gives out so many extra credit and he curves his quizzes a bunch. He lectures a lot, but the material is very interesting. Took this class over the summer and it was a super easy A. He gives you 3 days to miss class.
Mr. Hass is a great professor and overall person. When it comes to his lectures though, they can be very hard to follow, so NEVER stop listening--what you think might be digression usually ends up being vital information for the next quiz. TAKE NOTES. His class is passable if you try your best on the quizzes and make up your mistakes with EC ASAP.
Mr h is an emotional guy with plenty to say, he grades quizzes/tests on a curve so that helps, no HW or projects. He talks a lot and sometimes can go down a rabbit hole with his lectures which leaves me lost. He doesn't allow any electronic usage so you have to take A LOT of notes. Offers extra credit, hard but once you get your groove its easy!
Took him for both SOC & PS, he cares a lot about his students. I have had many professors over the years, but none have taught me more about life or how to think critically than Prof Hass. Be prepared to write alot of notes. Offers a ton of extra credit. He may not teach "by the book", but there is a lot to gain from having him as a teacher.
Mr. Hass is an amazing professor who always takes the time to make sure you understand the material if you have any questions on his lectures or the reading. His class is very lecture heavy and you need to be sure you take detailed notes as well as doing the reading. It's a tough class, but absolutely passable if you study and take notes.
Professor Hass is an amazing professor and made Political Science a really enjoyable class. He is one of the most empathetic people I have ever met and really cares about his students. His lectures are very inspirational and teach his students about politics and life in general. His tests are mostly about his lectures, so notes are very important!
Professor Haas is probably one of the most caring and inspirational professor's I have ever had. He makes it very clear that he wants each and every one of his students to succeed-- not only in his class but also in the rest of her life. I really feel like even though I only had him for a short time, he'll have an impact on me forever.
Professor Hass is one the most passionate teachers you will ever encounter. He is lecture heavy but is NEVER dull. Get ready to take notes, but will be successful if you do so. There is plenty of extra credit offered. This was my second class with him and I wish I could take another.
Class could be more organized. Quizzes are really difficult to understand if you don't study.
Professor Hass was an amazing teacher and very insightful! He had good tests and exams. There were random quizzes throughout the semester but he was a great teacher overall!
Workload is manageable. Could've gotten an "A" if I tried a bit harder. Overall, he's a solid choice.
He gives you so much to read, he gives work about every other week. I didn't do any assignments besides the quizes, tests and discussions and passed the class. You can't cheat, so get a friend in the class (a few), i dont recommend if you don't like to do your own work and read alot.
Hass was such a great professor and managed to make distance learning really engaging and interesting. This is the sort of class where the content you learn can genuinely stay with you. I highly recommend taking this class. You have to work for your grade, but it is worth it.
Can be condescending when commenting on grading. Be sure to take good lecture notes and follow directions on assignments carefully. Be sure to always use good grammar and mechanics. I recommend using Grammarly if you struggle in that aspect. Overall I really enjoyed Mr. Hass's lectures and how everything "linked" together. *Gives EC for citations*
Political Science was the class I was the most nervous about since it's such a tricky topic when you get into it but Professor Hass is funny and shows a passion for the subject that is contagious. Do your assignments and readings, and you're good to go.
I took this class full-term, it is slow paced so I would recommend taking short-term if available. There was only a couple easy homework assignments, a few quizzes that are heavy on reading and lectures but are specified what section it is about, and weekly lectures are generally 15 minutes to an hour.
Professor Hass was very good. If you put in the work and get A's he will write recommendations for you. A very good professor here at MSJC and I recommend taking him. The class itself was very easy and not challenging unless you want it to be. If you read read read and watch the documentaries you will do great!
this prof is so condescending. he makes everything so much harder than it needs to be. he doesn't give much work, but when he does their is so many little details and instructions, he wants everything done a very specific way. note the condescending part. Im a great student and got good grades, this is the only prof that gave me a hard time.
He is the best professor really quizzes are easy lets you take two attempts and well just pay attention to the lectures not so difficult and study for the exam he is a very good professor he understands everyone.
