He explains very well. Opened my eyes for sure!
Great teacher! Must go to class and take notes! Gives great study guides! :-)
Go to class and take notes and you should be fine

He is like a teddy bear.
Eric is a cool cat!
okay guy, skips around too much on topics
he tests you on everything he doesnt stress in class..his study guides are huge with half of the material not on the test. i really dont think hes an easy teacher
ERIC ROCKS! he really cares and will bend over backwards for any of his students! HE loves teaching and really knows his info. NO attendance policy-but you have to go to class in order to pass the tests! LONG STUDY GUIDE! FUNKY Sense Of Humor!
hes pretty shady outsdide of lecture. wont really try to help students out. he covers a lot of material but half of it isnt on the tests. wish i had taken fleitas.
He sucks. Will try to make you do bad.
This guy knows his stuff! Very funny! I wish some of the other professors took his classes, they may learn something about how to teach students.
Fabolous teacher. He is very interesting and funny
Eric is the greatest professor at the University. I have taking all his classes and done well. Is is always there to help you out for anything. Those who gave bad reviews of Eric really don't know him or try very hard in his classes.
there is just something about this guy i didnt like. i can tell he is a very smart professor but the class was just dull and tedious. also, dont expect to ever get a day off unless its mandated by the school!
Liberal!

Dr. Heberlig is a great instructor and an extremely interesting, intelligent speaker. He has a great sense of humor. Go to class, turn in your assignments. If you dont know much about politics this is the instructor for you. Very helpful.
Prof. Heberlig is a wonderful professor, covers his material well, and helps students. He explains everything perfectly, and has a good sense of humor, but knows when to be serious. TAKE HIM!! Tests aren't hard, either. You will learn a lot. I like hi
Dr. Heberlig was a very good teacher and he had a very good sense of humor.
great. easy if you take notes and go to class. makes is interesting. funny. worth your effort~! =)
so great! i had him for Pols 3105 and just loved him! he makes the class interesting n funny. go to class and take notes, u'll get an A. tests r essay forms (but not in introductory courses) so write a lot! check out my rating for Ken Godwin b4 u take him
Eric is so boring. He is a typical political science teacher, he thinks that he is funny but he is not. I slept in class everyday. Wouldn't recommend him to anyone.
He is a great professor to have, I took his class and I did pretty good. He is always avaliable if you have any questions and he explains everything clearly to you.
At least you don't have to show up all the time. I do think people like him more than they should. Just because he lets people callhim by his first name don't mean he's cool people. His review sessions are excellent
He is a good professor. He is always available for questions. His tests come directly from lectures and he is very lenient with the tests.
Very knowledgable about political science...its a shame that this section is about CITIZENSHIP. Alot of the course matter isnt related to what it should be. Has long drawn out pointless discussions, and weekly readings that have to do with politics
Great teacher. Very interesting and knowledgeable. Recommended.
Good teacher, makes bad jokes but class is hard.
His extra credits are very easy and helpful and he was very helpful.
He's a great professor. His lectures are interesting, he's got a great sense of humor, and is very willing to help with study sessions and such. If you think he's boring maybe you shouldn't be taking political science classes, the world will always need Weightlifting majors.
OMG dont take this teacher. I only took him cuz he fit into my schedule, huge mistake. i'm a straight A kid, and failing a 1000level pols class cuz this guy cant teach and his tests are super tricky. save yourself the heart-ache. take someone else!
made an A.. He talks about relevant things in class.just go to class listen to what he says and take some notes (you'll do fine). Only thing neg. I can say is that his test ?s are a bit ODD.. He words them so they don't make alot of sense.. but you'll be able to figure it out if you go to class

He really knows his stuff and can teach you a lot if you put the effort in. The class is not too hard but tests need studying and his papers need a lot of work. Must go to class b/c a lot of test comes from lectures.
this guy is so easy. he gives you every chance in the world to make an A with extra credit. anyone who thinks he's tricky on tests needs to actually pay attention to what he says in class. i highly recommend him.

He looks like the weatherman on channel 9. He's a good teacher and writes down what you are going to go over on the board at the beginning of class. He likes to joke, even if they arent funny jokes.
He's funny as hell.... goofy funny
Professor Heberlig is a good professor overall, but he is a tough grader. I worked hard on his Presidency paper and still only managed to get a C+ on it. To me, I believe that he is too strict when it comes to grading exams and papers.
The best professor in Political science department. A true scholar. Knows everything, unlike some others in the department.
AWESOME professor. This guy is very clear about his expectations and always willing to review and help before tests. Definitely one of the best profs at UNCC and one of the most intelligent. When my grades got messed up at the registrar's office he personally made sure everything got fixed. Always fast to respond to emails. A+++ prof
One of the best professors I've ever had. Even though I made a C, I felt like I got so much out of this class. Awesome atmosphere in class, readings (when assigned) are relevant and he knows his stuff. He should be Department Chair.
Dr, Heberlig is honestly one of the best professors I;ve ever had. He engages his students, actually making politics intriguing. After taking his course, I have a new found interest and respevt for political science.
Dr. Heberlig is the best! I enjoyed going to his class each day because he made them interesting and relative to current issues. He is the most unbiased professor I have ever heard! His tests are easy if you study the notes - he goes over in detail what the tests will cover. I will go out of my way to take him again!
He has been an AWESOME professor! I recommend you take one of his classes, especially since his American Politics class covers a Gen Ed requirement. You are safe to skip a few classes, but toward the end of the course, attendance become a little more important. The text book is barely used, and you could find what he does use on the internet.
Idk what has changed since he taught some of the people who wrote these reviews but they're outdated. Out of all my professors at UNCC he is by far the WORST! While he is not a "confusing" teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIM. I should've listened to the handful of people who told me this.
Boring beyond belief. All he does is talk with no real notes to write down. He puts up a skeleton of what your notes should have in them but no details. They're all in his lectures. Ventures off from the texts the further you go in the course. Masks an attendance grade as a group activity on random days. Hard to focus on his boring lectures.
Hard to describe how boring this class was. Heberlig is a nice guy, but material is weak &there's no structure to lectures. My attendance was erratic at best & I easily pulled a B... basic understanding of politics is all you really need. Takes attendance sometimes through "group" activities but wasn't clear on how much that counted. Tests are easy
Went to this class probably 10 times total. Tests were easy. I was able to copy other people's notes when I was in class from days I missed. Took maybe 15 pages of notes all semester. Final not cumulative. Ended up with a 90.1, guess that's good enough.
I thought this class was great. I did read the chapters he assigned, then I would come to class and play labtop games and go a really easy A. I did however stop coming to class the last month and I got a 74 on the noncumulative final but I averaged above 100 before that so no harm no foul, but lesson well learned
Great professor! I had zero interest in politics prior to this course. I did none of the assigned reading from either book but came to every lecture and took detailed notes. He offers great extra credit opportunities as well. With my low effort level I am getting a 96% in the class. He makes politics interesting and I have gained knowledge.
He's a nice guy, but the class can be boring, unless you're really into government and politics. Certain topics are more interesting than others. The program you use called Top Hat blows, it only works on a laptop, the phone app crashes, so bring your computer. I usually did work for other classes in this one and came out with an A.
Heberlig is the man. He will help you through anything. The structure of this class is perfect and he loves dedicated individuals. I could have had an A except that I did not turn stuff in on time.
Go to class, take good notes, and do the assignments. As long as you can keep up with the lectures, you'll be fine.
Great professor on the topics on American Politics such as the presidency and congress. Dr. Heberlig is a little quirky but awesome.
I love Dr. Heberlig. His classes aren't easy but if you go to class, read and study with some effort you'll get a good grade. He definitely makes you work for it but he's a very good professor. I learned a lot in the classes I've had with him and if you get to know him he can be very helpful, for example he agreed to be a reference for my resume.
Dr. Heberlig definitely knows what he is talking about and how to understand the impact of different policies. He definitely grades tough, but if you take the time to email him and explain to him that you thoroughly do not understand information, he is more than willing to help. Not many writing assignments, just readings which are easy.
Dr. Heberlig knows his stuff. I recommend for sure.
He gives four tests with are all multiple choice and are pretty easy. At the beginning of each class he gives an outline of topics he will cover and you just have to fill in the notes from his lecture. His lectures always follow the questions you will see on the tests, so listen and take decent notes and it's an easy A.
This class is entirely lectured based but they are fantastic lectures that provide very interesting information. The test are straight forward but can be a little difficult. Overall a great professor that can teach you interesting things about politics
Go to class and actually pay attention. Test are a little difficult but if you go to class and study you should be fine.
Good professor. Glad I took a class with him. A little reading-intensive at times but not unreasonable.
Only 5 assignments: a midterm, final and 3 papers. The class is OK, you have to really come and pay attention to his lectures in order to do well. Read everything he tells you and go to his review sessions for the midterm/final. The simulation was super fun. Overall, cool teacher.
Dr. Heberlig is a wonderful professor. This was my first 3000 level POLS class and I learned a ton thanks to Dr. Heberlig. You absolutely have to come to class because most of the mid-term and final come from him directly. Absolutely participate in the simulation. I never missed a class and got a 70 for participation. Three papers and two exams.
If you're planning on taking american politics then Heberlig is your guy! Tests are easy with a little studying, there are quizzes with revel, and I always wanted to go to class to listen to his lectures. He makes the class very interesting. Definitely one of the best professors I've had
Professor Heberlig is very passionate about what he teaches. He makes sure the students understand and his exams are not hard. There are very easy quizzes that I never read the textbook but still passed because the material is common knowledge. I would definitely take his class again!
His tests are directly from his lectures and reviews, and sometimes from the revel reading. He gives so many opportunities for a good grade and his TA has in-depth review sessions. My first test I got a C and after attending a review session my grade went up 11 points! I would strongly recommend bringing some kind of snack or drink tho....
I really enjoyed his class and is willing to help out so you can pass or bring your test scores up. A lot of the test material comes from his lectures so COME TO CLASS!
He is the best professor Ive had so far. He is really interactive with students, and a overall great professor.
Material was exceptionally informative and unbiased for a politics class. Dr. Heberlig is definitely a subject matter expert and was extremely helpful and cooperative. Online course required purchase of Pearson online textbook and completing assignments on there and Canvas. Workload was average. Great professor!
Coming to class is important as most of his tests are based on class discussions and participation is a part of your grade. Going to office hours is very helpful to pass his exams. He gives guided notes and allows classmates to discuss the material. With personal experience in Congress, it's interesting to hear real-life applications of content.
Professor Heberlig wasn't the greatest professor. I wouldn't recommend taking his class. His tests are very difficult and those account for most of your grade.
Dr. Heberlig is a great professor who knows his stuff. His lectures are basically just him speaking so make sure you go to class bc none of his lectures are online. We have 3 PowerPoint presentations and 3 written exams. He is a tough grader, so make sure you put as much information as you can from his book.
Revel quizzes everyday for online. I forgot to do some so I lost points there. Not sure how he would be in in person classes but he was great and responsive with emails. Learned a lot and it wasn't boring. I took it over the Summer and barely did any intense work or studied really hard and I still passed.
Dr. Heberlig was a good professor. Doesn't give you an A without you really working for it. Work includes writing 3 resolutions and presenting them in class, 1 paper evaluating a policy article, 1 research paper about one of your resolutions, evaluating classmates' presentations, and writing short essays about your resolutions.
overall, solid choice. expectations are clear, with no arbitrary guidelines or rules. Exams are essay based but you have all day to do it and the info comes directly from lectures so it's not hard. The only readings you should do are the ones that are discussed in class. don't buy the textbook, he provides a free online copy. lectures are recorded.
Class discussion is super interesting and he makes it funny. Homework is easy, but a lot to read. Just come to class and you will pass. He is a very nice guy and easy to talk to. Overall a great class to take, just make sure you study
This is my favorite professor from my first semester of college! As long as you show up to class and write down the notes, you'll be fine. He's really nice and funny, and his tests aren't too hard. As long as you study you'll do great.
As long as you listen in class, the tests are not very hard. There is some information from the textbook in the tests, but the majority is just from the lectures. Also, when answering the PollEverywhere questions, he gives extra credit for correct answers, so try your best to get them right.
Heberlig is a very difficult professor especially with grading. He is very anal about small details and comes across as rather cocky in his correspondence. Also, prepare to read, read, read, and read some more. He is not a bad teacher, he just piles the work on you.
Syllabus was not clear and the structure of the class was horrible and basically fully based on the syllabus and random emails he would send. Tried to email him with questions and never got a response. Overall just really confusing and there wasn't enough information on what he wanted/expected from assignments.
I had a very hard time with this class. He provided a lot of readings for the class and the assignments and in my opinion, too much for a 1000-level. You had to manually calculate your grade because stuff was not graded in Canvas. I would stay very cautious for this class. Not sure how in-person would be, but not amazing online.
Dr. Heberlig is a great professor. I took him for intro to American politics and enjoyed it. If you just show up to lectures, listen, and take notes, you will do well on the tests. The things he says in the lectures are exactly what is on the test. He also has some dry humor. Would definitely recommend.
He is a really great professor, however, we had so many homework assignments that ended up being worth one 15 point assignment on Canvas. I almost failed the class despite endless studying for the 2 midterms and final, my grade suffered due to the very few graded assignments.
His lectures were enjoyable and he offered a very nuanced view of American politics. There's a lot of reading homework, but nothing too unmanagable. Attendance is important, as a lot of the content on his exams comes from his lectures, not the textbook. He gives a study guide for every exam. Note taking is easy if you're present.
he was a very boring lecturer, which was unfortunate bc attendance and participation matters. you have six 2-3 page hw assignments throughout the semester, 2 midterms, and 1 final exam along w participation as a grade. he's kind of a harsh grader
If you pay attention to concepts in lectures and read important reading excerpts, you will do good on the tests. Dr. Heberlig is very engaging and sometimes funny when he speaks and helps students understand the political system well. Also rounds up your letter grade at the end of the semester and is a fast and not tough grader at all. Loved him!
Dr. Heberlig is a great professor! He set clear expectations at the beginning of the year and gives a very manageable work load. The class consists of nightly textbook readings (which are fairly easy) and unit tests, that make up the majority of your grade. As long as you attend class and take notes, you will get an A in the class.
