Hard test, but fair grader.

I loved this class! Hickey is so funny and really interesting. His tests are kind of obscure, but if you actually go to class and pay attention, his GA Jay will fill in the blanks. Go to class! He's not hard.

THE BEST CLASS YOU WILL EVER TAKE IN COLLEGE. EASY A OR B ....if you get a C in his class...you should commit suicide...hehehe just kidding (am talking about the summer class). EASY CLASS VERY INTERESTING ....ONE OF THE** BEST ** PROFESSOR YOU WILL EVER MEET.

The topics are pretty intresting. His Test are hard but if you Ace the first two no final. And if you get a higher grade on the second test than the first test bothe tests will equal the higher grade. So you could bomb the first test and get an a on the second and have an a in the class.

Loved this class!! The tests are pretty hard but Hickey makes the class fun. It's very interesting also.

Hickey is tight and funny. His stories cannot be substituted. His class is interesting as well. Test are kinda hard, but thats the price for having a good teacher.

i LOVED this guy. he's written probably the best text book ive been required to read, ever. he makes it fun to go to class, and ou learn ALOT. i thought his class was very easy. id take him again ANY chance i got.

This was the best class that I ever took and it was pretty easy, although I did take it over the summer, there was only 2 tests and he gave us extensive study guides. You can NEVER get bored in this class!

This guy is awesome. His class was always fun and I looked forward to it. The book was great, too. I actually kept it. Plus it's really easy if you come mosty every day and do the little bit of work that's assigned.

A great prof. enjoyed his lectures, and presentations. Crim 153 was great He's one of the best.

As a crim major we can't take crim classes for electives but i had to take Dr. Hicky, that class was amazing i think its the first class that i never ditched all semester long... ;)

Very knowledgable in his field. Very busy man. He only lectures, his TA runs the testing and grading. Test are extremely hard if you don't read the book... If you read the 300 or so pages for each test, you'll hit an A for sure.

Good teacher. Show up to class, takes notes, attend study groups and you'll pass. Goes off course with stories, but they are interesting stories.

Loved this guy. T.A. does nost of the work but Hickey is funny, and interesting to listen to. Tests are somewhat easy, but require you to study. Goes over everything yoy need to know. DEF. TAKE HIM! A+

This class is very interesting. It is an easy A, if you study for the tests. The tests have details straight from the book, so look carefully. If the class is MWF, you have two days for every test. He is a really cool man!

Great Teacher for staying awake.Willing to work with you and lenient tests. Bit tricky though, but again willing to help you out in the end.

Good stories, tricky tests, doesn't care if you plagiarize your writing assignment. You'll learn something and he seems like a nice guy, but he will be a total prick to you if you ever walk in late.

Hickey is awesome. You can tell he loves what he does. He has so many interesting stories.. we rarely took notes just listened to all hes done. He didnt show up a lot of the time. Make sure you read the book. His tests are hard. But he gave my class extra points since we all bombed (: written assignment was an easy A no matter how much you may suck

He's one of the best criminology professors on campus. He's easy and makes class really fun. His tests are hard, but if you go to all the classes and you read the book, you'll do just fine. Don't be surpried if he's scatter brained or is forgetful. That's just him. He's one of the best. You'd be lucky to have him as a teacher.

A+++ Hickey's the most awesome teacher ever!!!!! My sister had him and recommended him. I fell in love with him cuz he's the best teacher to ever have. Even if Crim isn't your thing, you should take one of his classes just to be able to experience a professor who actually loves what he does. Has crazy interesting stories!!! The best teacher ever :)

Hickey is an Awesome teacher!!!! I had so much fun in this class! He's so crazy!!! His tests are pretty hard but he gives a lot of extra credit and curves his grades which is nice. MAKE SURE YOU READ THE BOOK!!!! Otherwise you will fail! As long as you study and do that work you will do well in this class.

Hilarious individual. He made it fun to come to class, although many students didn't seem to want to, anyway. I repaid his wonderful teaching talents by earning an "A" in his class. Take Dr. Hickey's class - you won't be sorry.

A+++++ for Hickey... By far the most interesting class i have taken at Fresno State. He has the best stories to tell as well...the class to me was like storytime. Do the study guides and study them briefly and its an easy A. I got a 100% on all of his Quizzes. DEFINITLY TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!

By far one of the best professors out there. You will want to go to class, it is so interesting. The tests are not a walk in the park, but if you do the study guides, and read over them, you should do just fine... take this class... YOU WONT REGRET IT

One of the funnest classes at Fresno State!! Dr. Hickey is extremely interesting and keeps you entertained the entire class. The only irritating thing he does is calls on random people so if you haven't read, you'll be embarrassed. My suggestion is read and come prepared.

Amazing professor. Hilarious, brilliant. He expects you to read the book, and lectures EXTRA from what he assigns for reading, but it is all so interesting and easy to read. Exams are hard ONLY if you don't read or study. Love him.

If I wouldn't have been so close to graduating, I would have changed my major. He kept my interest the whole semester, he writes his own books and they are so mind-blowing. I looked forward to coming to this class. Tests are easy if you study and read. He gives study-guides! He has a ton of interesting life stories to tell.

Dr. Hickey made class so interesting and fun to attend. READ READ READ in order to pass his tests and study the study guide he gives. If you pass all tests with an A, you don't have to take the final! He is so kind and accommodating to your needs. I missed a test because I was sick and he let me retake it when I was ready with no hassle. He's great

Dr.Hickey made my semester! Even though class is at 8am i enjoy waking up early to attend.Have to have the book to look up/read answers from his study guide. Interesting lectures and brings in guest speaker at one point.Fun class. Def recommend.One of the best professors at Fresno State I've had so far.

Hickey is GREAT. One of the best teachers I have ever had. Exams are fair and easy if you keep up with the reading. First class I have ever taken that I didn't have to take the final.

This was by far one of my favorite classes I have taken! Dr. Hickey is hilarious and his lectures are anything but boring. There are two books you are required to read, definitely READ THEM! He gives a study guide for every test and they are usually helpful. As long as you read the books, especially the case files, you will do fine on the tests.

easy class. just 3 exams, a final, and a paper. make sure to go over the cases in each chapter and who did what aside from the study guide. with minimal effort and studying, you will be fine. writes his own books and gives many real life experiences, would take again

Dr. Hickey's class is why I chose my major focus. He definitely knows what he is talking about. He gives you study guides before each exam, so if you read & fill them out, you will do well. The extra credit assignment is optional. He will bump your exam grade up if you improve from 1st to 2nd, etc. If you ace all 3, you can opt out of the final.

Best class I ever took at Fresno State. Hickey is absolutely hilarious, knowledgeable, and truly a nice person. He has a lifetime of experience in criminology, so you can really learn a lot from the guy. He gives out study guides for each test so the tests are a breeze. Take the class!

Funniest professor i've had. he does this thing were if you fail your first exam you have another chance to bring that grade up. if you pass your next exam he will change that grade letter. he's super cool and you actually learn in that class.

He mentioned how he didn't teach this class for a while, so he took over someone else's syllabus, which contain to do many papers, but he was a great teacher, very flexible to insure everyone passed, basically if you give some effort he will pass you. Very funny would definitely take him again.

Amazing instructor and hilarious. His test are straight forward as long as you take notes and read them. He is understanding about missing class and realizes that students have responsibilities outside or school. There is one major assignment and you have 3 options to choose from, and its super easy. Take the class!

He was super funny, and always try to work with the class. He gave us 3 exams and a study guide for all f them and the study guides were just like the test! He even gave us answers before the test. You have one writing assignment but he gives you plenty of time to complete it. He's and awesome teacher!!!! I love him! Take his class!

I thought his class was very easy but I thought it would be a little more interesting. He works with students, and really wants them to pass. Did not use book much so would not suggest buying it. Study guide is exactly like test and answers can be found on quizlet. Thought he was very funny, and cool but the class could have been more interesting.

Great professor! He makes class interesting with his funny personality and makes you want to engage in class discussions and answer questions. We had 3 easy reflective papers. Study guides were almost exact to the tests. Take him!

Dr. Hickey is one of the best professors I've ever taken. His lectures are always interesting and he is really funny. Try not to walk out of his class or show up late, he finds it very rude. His exams are easy and he offers extra credit. He makes a syllabus but rarely follows it, so don't be afraid to ask. He has a lot of good stories.

He is very passionate about his jobs. Very funny always cracking jokes. Everything is test based, but his study guides are exactly like the test, so you should be fine. He does a review class day before the test and gives free- bes. Misses class often due to his other jobs. Overall a great class.

One of the most interesting professors I've had. He is passionate about his jobs (he has a lot). Misses quite a few classes due to other work but he takes things out of the course when he misses classes. Tests are just like study guides. Follow the directions for the papers and you'll do great. He cares about his students and his classes are great.

One of the best professors here so far. Always looked forward to class because of him. Has a lot of stories and real-life scenarios that he likes to incorporate into lecture. 3 exams and a final (study guide provided for all of them). Dont need to take final if you get A's on all 3 exams. Some writing assignments involved too, but not too bad.

Great professor. Amazing lectures, never boring. Tests aren't hard if you read the text and understand the concepts. He gives out many extra credits, so if you don't do well, the extra credits come in handy and you can do as many as you want.

Hands down one of the best professors I have had at state. He gets off track a bit in class but his stories are great and he gives his students the opportunity to redeem their grade! Don't second guess taking him, just do it!

Took him last semester and it was great! He made the lecture very interesting and uses a lot of examples. I didn't use the book that much so I wouldn't suggest buying it. He changes the dates on the syllabus a lot so just make sure to double check with him. He also gave out a lot of freebies for the tests.

Dr. Hickey is an amazing professor! Loved his lectures but make sure you're ready to participate because he does call on people. The course itself is straightforward: 3 exams, 1 final (you don't have to take it if you're satisfied with your grade after the 3rd exam), 2 papers, and 1 extra cred option. He gives study guides for the tests. DO THEM.

Such a great profesor w great stories to share! You can tell he loves what he does. He lets you ask questions about the study guide and gives out the answers. Be aware of the tests all three tests that we took this semester (S21) every single answer was A! Not sure if it was a fluke but it happened. Highly recommend, you wont regret, guaranteed!!

Amazing professor. Super easy class. No homework, just study for the 3 exams, optional final, and one writing assignment. The lectures are really interesting, and every Friday he gives points or test questions when you show up.

The study guide for each test basically has all the answers and he gives out freebies for showing up to class. Extra credit is given sometimes if you show up. Just do study guide and you will get an A. Show up to class for better grade and great stories. 10/10 best prof I have had.

HE'S FAMOUS IN HIS FIELD! Got top scores on all exams by reading the text and putting lots of detail on the study guide. Gives TEST XC if you go to class. I felt like my hard work was wasted. He felt bad so many were doing poor on exams so he ended up dropping exams/giving more XC so everyone passed. Really cares about students. Doesn't use Canvas

Didn't give any homework only writing at the end and a few tests that tests were a bit difficult. Has a lot of stories from cases that he worked on. Very nice and understanding.

Dr. Hickey is a great Professor and he's passionate about what he teaches. There are 2-3 exams and they're pretty easy if you study. Textbook is not entirely necessary since PowerPoint covers mostly everything but it's useful to have it. Randomly offers extra points for exams, usually on Fridays. 1 paper that is also easy. The final is optional.
