He does a lot of fun in class experiments and the in class clicker quizzes are easy. Attend class, read your book, and my TA did our hw with us in lab time. It's a hard class because it's a GE but Hirschmann is definitely the way to go!

The physical science criteria is the same for all classes, it doesn't really matter who you take but Prof. Hirschmann is always upbeat. He is a nerd by heart- he cracked tons of jokes that nobody got, but he just laughs at himself and makes class interesting. Really nice guy, answers all of your questions...I would reccomend him.

Professor Hirchmann's class is a walk in the park if you read your textbook. He does fun experiments and cracks cheesy jokes in class, which makes lecture interesting. He is very willing to take time to answer personally any questions you have and his TA labs are helpful, too. His tests are easy if you practice how to apply the concepts.

Professor Hirschmann is a great professor, just as long as you pay attention and read the material beforehand. He'll answer your questions, and loves getting emails from his students. If you can stand corny humor, he's a good teacher to take it from.

He is very friendly and funny. Overall his lectures are nice and helpful, although sometimes he seems to confuse people more than help them when he answers questions. Still, if you go to class, read the textbook, and use his practice questions before exams, finishing the class with a good grade should be easy.

Bro. Hirschmann makes it clear how much he cares about student's spiritual and intellectual growth in addition to their academic success. Interesting, humorous, and quite engaging.

If clicker quizzes weren't required, class would be pointless. I never listened in lecture and I got an A. Just study the book. He is really nice and really enthusiastic, but besides being very mildly entertaining, class is pointless.

He is extremely interested in the students and loves the subject. He does everything he can to make the material interesting and clear. He brings in a lot of outside information and is very kind. Be sure to read the text! I highly recommend taking notes as you read as well as in class.

He's funny. He knows that most people taking his class aren't very interested in the class but are taking it for the GE, so he tries his hardest to make it interesting for them. He doesn't grade anything, so it's really based on your TA--MAKE SURE YOU GET A GOOD ONE!!! I recommend Michelle H

He really cares! He answers all of the questions in class and makes sure that everyone understands before moving on. The class is not the easiest, but that's because it's taught as a dept. He is funny. Great man, great teacher. Take it from him, no regrets.

Good teacher! You have to read the book to stay on top of the class, but the book is written for BYU students; it tries to explain things instead of cramming info down your throat, just like the teacher. He is very open to questions and uses quizzes that really help you understand things. Great teacher! (Physical Science 100)

Hirschmann is really educated & respectful. He answers questions- remember to slow him down/ask questions if needed. Always go to reviews, especially if Chad does them. He's the best Teacher's Assistant ever! He's soo animated & helpful.

One of the best. He's willing to work w/ u in so many ways & is sincerely concerned for his students & their success. Starting class w/ prayer & the spirit was present. Although this course is really tough due to the quick movement through material & difficulty level of the tests, I learned so much about science & life in general. Take it from him!

He is a great teacher who really cares if his students understand the concepts. In fact, he will answer everyones questions in class until everyone is on the same page. A really nice guy who teaches the information in a very clear way. I would definitely recommend him.

I'm not interested in science and I'm just getting a GE out of the way. But I enjoyed this class and I would recommend Hirschmann. He is a nice guy and his lectures are helpful, and he tries to keep the class entertained with some funny comments. Read the textbook and come to class (you have to take quizzes throughout the class). Very manageable A.

Hirschmann is a nice guy, tries to keep class interesting. Most helpful of the few professors for PS100 that I visited. If you read, it is EASY to get an A. Its possible to get an A without reading, but you have to go to the reviews. The TA reviews are CRUCIAL, if you go to those they basically tell you whats on the test and can teach everything.

I loved Eric! he was fun and charming, and kept a class that I would have normally hated relatively enjoyable. I still hate science, but I survived with a B and that's great for me. GO TO THE TA REVIEWS, especailly Dylan's.

Physical Science is just difficult.

Such a great class. You will do fine if you do the reading homework. Professor Hirschman is very funny and a great teacher. Be sure to go to class on the day you talk about fats, you won't regret it.

If you read the book and go to the TA reviews, you can get an A pretty easily. He was such a fun class to go to. I'm not crazy interested in the subject matter, but he always made class entertaining and informative.

Professor Hirschmann is great! He caters to individual questions and is really enthusiastic about the subject matter and demonstrations. Just make sure to show up to class and do the reading and you'll be fine. Also if you laugh at his jokes the first time he tells them, classes will move along more quickly. :)

He was very funny and made sure that students understood before he moved on. This class is the easiest class I have ever taken. Attendance is mandatory because of the Iclicker quizzes, but you could probably pass this course by just reading the textbook. The labs are great just because they help you complete the homework.

This class is just hard. I had to put work in but got an A. The tests are the same across the entire department so no matter what PHY class you take you learn the same thing. That said Hirschmann prepares you well. I liked him. Be prepared to read the textbook.

This class was relatively easy. Class lectures weren't always very interesting, but it's important to go to get quiz points. The textbook is easy to read and the chapters are short. Dr. Hirschmann was a pretty good professor. He often told jokes and he even handed out food one day! I would take him again.

He did a great job at teaching. Always answered questions until the student understood. Very clear. Daily quizzes, but just read the book chapter. I think I read about the first half of the book and did fine, but got lazy and stopped reading but still kept up. Tests are slightly hard, just go to TA reviews and read.

He was a really nice guy who threw out food in class. Most Physical science sections have the same tests and assignments but he tried to make it interesting every lecture with demos and other fun things. Not always the best at explaining but good enough for the easiness of the course.

Proffesor Hirschmann is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. He is so considerate of all students and tries to answer all of your questions until you understand. The class in general was pretty challenging but as long as you read the chapters and go to lecture and lab you'll be fine. At the end with the curve I was able to get 100% in the class

He made an otherwise boring GE exciting. He would answer all questions in lecture and wouldn't move on until all students understood the material. He explained the concepts in logical ways that made it easier to remember concepts for the tests. He is a great professor who truly loves the material and the students.

Professor Hirschman is funny and really helpful, making sure everyone understands the concepts. He has daily quizzes with iclikers so class is mandatory but also very helpful. Most of your grade depends on the tests but he also has short weekly assignments usually done in your lab with your TA. Very smart and helpful as well.

The class is hard just because any Physical Science class is hard. But this professor makes it fun and as easy as he can. You should go to class because you do iClicker quizzes every day (they're very easy) that give you easy points. The tests aren't bad if you studied and go to TA reviews. Great teacher. No homework.

Hirschmann is the bomb.com. I dislike science classes and only took it to meet my GE requirements. He gives food out during the fats/oils section, he's funny, and he really knows his stuff. Never be afraid to ask questions, he'll always answer them, and he makes sure students understand concepts before moving on. It's hard, but he's the best here.

I love Brother Hirschmann! He will help you get an A and makes class interesting. Just make sure you go to class because he takes attendance through I-Clicker quizzes.

I had no previous interest in science at all, but this class was actually my favorite. He made it interesting. He never moved on until everyone understood. I didn't work as hard as I could have in the class and I still got an A-. I definitely recommend him as a teacher. Best professor I've had by far.

He is the best professor ever! He is so helpful and willing to work with you to understand things. I had no interest in Physical Science and was just taking if for my GEs, but he made it super interesting. Lectures were great and you should definitely go to them. Also, going into his office to understand concepts is SUPER helpful.

Dr. Hirschmann is very, very humble. The subject matter is difficult to explain on a basic level and he does an excellent job. He is always willing to help, does many demonstrations, and answers everyone's questions Class . The wording on questions is frequently ambiguous but spend time in the help lab to clarify questions and concepts.

I hate generals and try to do as little as possible but enjoyed Hirschman's class. Granted, for PHYS 100 the professor is a small part of the class, but he makes lectures bearable and tries to help everyone understand concepts. Go to class and read the book you will get an easy A, if that's a lot of work, just cram in TA lab, I did.

This class was awesome and rather easy! If you do the readings and show up to class, you won't have any problem whatsoever. Super easy, super fun, and Hirschmann is great about answering questions. He is clear and fun. I would definitely take this class from him again!

This class was a little difficult for me, just because the subject isn't my forte. But Professor Hirschman made it so interesting and one that I really looked forward to. He gives really clear lectures and lots of extra help. It's not a hard class in and of itself. It just wasn't forte. LOOOOOOVED it. Definitely take it from Hirschman if you can.

This class was super insightful. I learned a lot and Professor Hirschmann. He is always willing to answer questions and truly cares about your understanding of the material he presents. He also does a lot of awesome experiments to help you understand the material. Great class!

I hate science to be honest, but this guy made me love it. He's hilarious, kind, and makes science fun. His lectures are always entertaining, and he makes things really easy to understand. He also answers any questions. The little quizzes in class are pretty helpful and a lot of times he just gives you the answers. He gives out food too

One of the better professors I've had in terms of clear course structure. Expect short quizzes online 3 days a week and in-class quizzes as well. They're not hard as long as you at least skim the textbook. TA tells you what to study for tests and they're not bad. Lectures are interesting if you pay attention. Dad jokes galore and they're glorious.

Professor Hirschmann really cares about making sure his students understand. He makes class interesting and engaging. He really knows what he's talking about and he'll take the time during lecture to explain difficult concepts.

Attendance is important! There are in class quizes every class period. Mr. Hirschmann is a great GE teacher. He know quite a lot and he knows how to teach really well. I am an audio learner, yet he uses a lot of visual aids to bring the classes attention to what is going on and the concepts we are learning.

Hirschmann was a really cool professor but hard to follow at times and not very clear. Kind of felt like I needed a dictionary to understand what he was saying. Attendance is important as there are iclicker quizzes every lecture and count towards final grade. Test are definitely challenging but TA review can be pretty helpful.

I loved this class so much!! Always started with prayer, did an excellent job of incorporating the Gospel, and explained difficult concepts several ways to ensure understanding. I would take it again, I would take another class from him, he's super encouraging and helpful.

Dr. Hirschmann makes lots of jokes, mostly about science. Also be prepared to get food passed around during the lesson on Fatty Acids, it was actually really good! Sometimes speaks monotone, but you can tell he has a passion for science. Use the open lab for assignments, and always go to your assigned class lab!

Professor Hirschmann is a good teacher. It's kind of a broad class and all the professors are forced to cover a lot in a little amount of time. His lectures are pretty good and he kind of has a nerdy sense of humor that is pretty funny sometimes. Not a huge science fan but the class wasn't terrible.

Pretty easy overall. They drop tons of quizzes and tons of homework (up to two weeks worth) and if you go to the test reviews, you'll pass. My TA said that in her 5 years of TAing she had never seen anyone fail. It's easy to pass - just keep up with everything cause some concepts are tough. Go to your lab - you'll do all of your homework there.

Just an all around good guy. He really does care about his students and wants to make sure everyone understands. If you do the readings and pay attention in lecture and you will do well. The walk-in lab is really great to ask questions and review.

Professor Hirschmann is a great guy. His lectures were very organized and he never moved on unless everyone understood the material. He really cares about each student. Lots of quizzes and homework are dropped, just do well on the 4 unit tests and final because that determines your grade. Go to the TA lab! It helps a lot.

A good, introductory teacher. The lectures are boring sometimes, but with intro basic science that's to be expected. Super easy class, if you do the readings then you really don't need to go to class. Don't forget to take the online quizzes though!

professor Hirschmann is a great teacher and lecturer. he will pause for any amount of time to make sure that all of the answers from anyone in the class are answered. the classwork all goes through a TA, GO TO THE TA LAB FOR HW HELP. THEY GIVE YOU THE ANSWERS.

Professor Hirschmann is really funny, the lectures are sometimes boring but it's a 100 class so what can you expect? He's really good at answering questions in class. You're graded on in-class iclicker quizzes so make sure you're in class. You do all the HW in lab. 3 chapters to read a week but they're really short. Easy A

I always looked forward to this class. He is SO good at answering questions in class and explaining things clearly. You can tell he really loves his job and loves science. I thought he was hilarious. The class was extremely easy. There is an opt out exam at the beginning of the year but I wouldn't take it because the class rocked.

This class was very difficult for me (science is not my thing), however, Prof. Hirschmann is a good teacher and clearly enjoys his subject. He makes demos fun, cares about his students, and gives a lot of freebies with in-class quizzes. He made the class bearable.

Not tons of homework, but there's a short chapter of reading w/an easy reading quiz due before each class. PLEASE do the reading; the book explains it quite well, so you won't have to ask stupid questions in class :) Professor Hirschman is super duper; his lectures are interesting and easy to understand. Not a heavy homework load, but there's reading every day. He explains things really clearly and makes class enjoyable. Really kind and caring, wants you to succeed. Prepares you really well for the test, and there multiple reviews to attend for extra help.

He is well-balanced. We're looking for balance in a class/professor, right? I feel like he had done the class so many times, it became structured very clearly, so you know what you are being graded on. Do this, get that. No surprises or disappointments. He is a funny/silly lecturer and I felt like he cared. He actually learned my name.

He's a good teacher and he explains things pretty clearly. If you are not a science person, I would recommend him. Just make sure you read the textbook and go to the TA reviews if physical science is not your strong suit! He's always willing to answer test questions in class.

Entertaining Lectures

Food in a no food classroom.

If you show up, do your homework, and study you will get an A. Classes have a lot of demonstrations that keep it interesting and content is clear.

If you have to take Physical Science 100 (which most of you will have to do) take it from Professor Hirschmann! He explains things well, and goes at a good pace. Home work is eaisly managable, and tests are pretty easy. TAKE HIM

He is literally the best teacher. He gave me popcorn, hi chews and ho ho's all in one day. Every single day I come to class is a whole new world of possibilities. He loves his students dearly.

He's awesome! He's super goofy and loves the subject he teaches. He's super excited for all questions, especially if you come up to him after class and talk to him. He cares about all the students and cares that we all understand. I didn't even buy the textbook and never read, but most people used it. There are books available in the TA lab.

I love Prof. Hirschmann and would highly recommend him. He's really funny, even when his jokes don't get a lot of laughs. All you have to do is read the chapters; (and even if you don't) the quizzes are super easy. Make sure you go to class to take the in-class quizzes and go to your labs and you will do great!

Professor Hirschmann is a great teacher to take for this class! He gives you clear material to study and the outside of class workload is very light if not non-existent. You have like 2 question in class quizzes everyday and dropped 10 of them, so if you have to miss class sometimes nbd! very funny and very intertaining. Easy Class!

Professor Hirschmann is fun. Last week, we blew things up with fire, and today, in a way to learn about saturated and unsaturated fats, we ate a bunch of food. We do lots of experiments and sometimes I feel like I am in potions class. Also, Professor Hirschmann answers everyone's questions and makes hard things like chemistry understandable.

Such a fantastic teacher! He's a great lecturer and will take time to explain difficult concepts! The lectures are really informative - so make sure to GO! -and he tells jokes throughout. There's reading every class but it's not to long, and before tests he gives practice materials that help a lot! Study well for the tests and you'll be fine!

Great Professor! Classes are entertaining and he takes the time to answer each students questions. His explanations are clear and simple. If science doesn't come naturally and if you're an rm who hasn't taken science for 3-4 years, get ready for lots of reading and studying. Tests are hard. Typical unreasonably difficult BYU generals.

Eric was an awesome professor. He made the lectures as interesting and funny as he could. He was also always willing to help and answer questions. We had iClicker questions every day but they are super easy, and he usually lets you answer them after asking a partner. Tests were fair. GREAT professor. I would highly recommend him!

I enjoyed every lecture I went to, and he had a few lecture with some snacks. He has Iclicker quizzes but they aren't too difficult. You only need a 90% to get an A. So many kids don't read the textbook as much as they should. If you're willing to read all the chapters thoroughly you will do well on the tests. Also make sure you do your hw it's 25% of your grade.

Dr. Hirschman knows his stuff. He is always willing to answer questions in lecture, but sometimes he doesn't do well understanding the questions or explaining concepts to the students with questions. Grades are a little confusing because of the website that physical science uses, but if you study for the tests and go to lab you'll be fine.

This is an amazing course but you are required to read a chapter in the text book before every class (most chapters aren't overly long, and they're presented in an interesting, understandable way). If you take the reading seriously and make it to every lab you should do well in the class. Review sessions cover the test in detail so go!

Dr. Hirschmann is a great guy, you can tell he wants all of his students to succeed and is awesome about answering questions in lectures. The class itself isn't super fun, but idk how many people take PS100 just for the heck of it. If you power through it, study hard for the tests, and read your textbook, you should do OK in the class.

I'm not a big science fan, but Professor Hirschmann made this class super enjoyable! He has a fun personality, which helps you to stay awake during lectures, and he covered the class material super well and made sure we understood it. I had no complaints about his class.

He's a great professor. He's really funny and gives really good lectures. Sometimes I think he answered too many people's questions and we'd get behind, but he's great at explaining concepts and helping everyone understand. The reading isn't too hard but it's really incessant.

Good professor. Very difficult and quick lectures covering a TON of information, super hard class to keep up with all the information coming at you. Quick lectures with lots inside, but prof sets up probably the best structure for the class for what has to be covered.

Absolutely brilliant professor, taking relativistic astrophysics from him was a real treat. Lectures were fascinating and mind boggling, in a good way. Made general relativity approachable and enjoyable, and always had answers for even the hardest of questions. Highly would recommend.

Just take his class.

He is pretty corny and makes a lot of bad jokes but he definitely tries to make the class fun and succeeds at it. The demonstrations are entertaining and do help you understand what's going on. Definitely go to class if you want to understand. Tests make up most of the grade so make sure you study up for those.

Professor Hirschmann has his class set up really nicely, to where you always know what to expect and it's all very doable stuff. There's online homework and classwork for each chapter, but you have multiple tries to get it right so its not bad at all. Lectures are fun, and he genuinely wants you to succeed in learning and passing the class

This class is a bit more challenging and requires a lot of work. HOWEVER, Dr. Hirschmann is literally so helpful and good at teaching. He cares so much about his students and would sacrifice any and all of his time to explain concepts to a struggling student. He is extremely patient and is definitely the only way to go for Physical Science.

Professor Hirschman is such a sweet guy! He is such a genuine person that is always willing to explain challenging concepts to you and answer your questions until you understand. The setup of the class is very organized. There are 4 tests and a final so get ready to take tests! An A is 90% and above so it's very doable an A- is a 86-90%

He's a fantastic teacher and never makes you feel stupid for any questions you ask. I am not a science person (I got a C in Chemistry in high school) but this class is manageable. He makes class fun and interesting! I'm one of probably thousands but take physical science from him!

In this class your grade is heavily determined by your exam scores, so make sure you go to the TA reviews and put in some work to study- his tests can be kind of difficult. There's 4 exams (1 per unit) and a final.

Dr. Hirschmann is an amazing professor. The course (Physical Science 100) is very straightforward no matter which professor you take and Dr. Hirschmann did a great job of helping his students understand what was expected of them and what they can do to succeed. He took time to answer questions in class and was available during his office hours.

Great professor. He doesn't get caught in the weeds of science and teaches general, applicable principles that are easier to digest than mounds of formulas. Kind and wants his students to receive. Would recommend

Awesome professor! He is so funny and kind and LOVES the subject. He can also be goofy in his own way which breaks up the lectures. The class is not an easy A but is definitely doable! There is a lot of homework but it isn't hard. Make sure you go to the TA reviews- they are amazing and will carry you through the test!

He was an amazing professor, you can tell he loves his job. Tests can get overwhelming but as long as you keep up with your work this class will be very easy for you. Dr Hirschmann has a great sense of humor and is willing to answer any possible questions you may have. PS he will occasionally throw treats at you during the lectures.

One of the most entertaining professors I have ever had. The class is a lot of work no matter who you take it from, but he makes it so much more fun and easy to understand. He is so fun and caring. If you take his class, you might get to eat a dry ice frozen twinkie.

Professor Hirschmann is one of the only teachers I have had that truly tries to make class enjoyable, and not boring. He gives demos very often which make class fun and engaging. He is one of the nicest professors and his lectures are understandable and easy to understand. Make sure to go to the TA reviews because they are very helpful!!

The lectures were very interesting and I learned a lot with the way he explained things. Took time to answer student's questions. He's such a fun professor. Please take PS100 from him. Please. He had fun demonstrations, threw candy at us, joked with students, and was always taking questions from students without getting too off-topic. Seriously best decision ever to take this class from him. Also, I just watched TA review videos for units instead of reading the textbook.

Such an amazing professor! He is so fun and wants his students to learn so bad! He does everything he can to make this class enjoyable. There is quite a bit of work for this class, including 4 exams + a final, but if you need the GE credit definitely take it from Hirschmann. One of my favorite professors!!

Fun professor that tries his best to answer every question. Most weeks there was a topic that most students didn't understand but in the TA lab they explain it very clearly. Make sure to do all the assignments and fill up the 1 page cheat sheet for tests. every question on assignments give you multiple tries for full credit, so very doable.

Prof Hirschman was excellent! He is very willing to answer questions, and cares about the success of his students. Expectations were clearly outlined in the syllabus and he followed them well. Multiple attempts on all work. TAs for the course are super great. Not a ton of work. 4 exams and a final but you get a full page of notes for each.

Prof. Hirschman is so funny and makes Physical Science seem not too hard at all! Much of the learning must be done on your own through textbook reading and online work, but I did just fine understanding concepts in his class, and I wouldn't typically consider myself a very scientific person. Take it with Hirschman, he's just a good guy!

I LOVED Professor Hirschmann. He is super funny, and also genuinely a cool dude. He cares about his students. PHYS100 is a pretty easy course, as long as you do the work (and go to the TA reviews before tests). If you're taking this class, definitely take it from Professor Hirschmann.

Lectures are very engaging. He makes complex topics digestable. He makes what will be on exams very clear, so it is easy to prep. You are also allowed a note sheet on every exam (including the final), which is huge. Definitely utilize that. Take Hirschmann!

super fun lectures, and hirschmann was super good at explainging complicated topics. the assignments are super easy (multiple chances on questions-- literally everyone gets 100% on them) and there are clear requirements. he made class rly fun and interesting. textbook is def helpful but the lectures are what is tested on. take it with hirschmann!!!

Prof. Hirschmann is a caring guy. Lectures were entertaining and fun. Pro tip: Go to EVERY TA test review. I can't stress how helpful those reviews are for exams. They cover everything you need to know for exams.

Dr. Hirschmann was an amazing teacher! Reading the textbook before classes helped me get the most out of lectures. It's a lot of assignments, but they definitely solidified information. He's very fun and used lots of demonstrations in class to explain what we were learning. He keeps students entertained- you'll have a hard time falling asleep.

A straightforward general, but Dr. Hirschmann made lectures engaging. Classes had lots of experiments and examples to back up your reading. Lots of TAs who are super helpful and run reviews for each exam.

I would totally recommend taking any class from Eric Hirschmann. He is a super nice guy and a great teacher. I really enjoyed what he taught and I feel like his class was very manageable.

Eric is the goat. His lectures were always engaging and entertaining and he is just overall a great person. As for the class, it's pretty simple but if you do struggle, GO TO THE TA ROOMS. I am not kidding you I probably have a whole letter grade higher just because of the time I spent there. Going over your test with them is super helpful!!
