Make sure you pay attention and take notes or you'll be totally screwed. He is fair though and willing to give you extra help if you need it.

I really like him as a teacher he is great. I do have a few minor things that bug me. The fact that when he shows you problems on the board they are the simplest ones but the ones on quizzes/test are extremely difficult. Prof. Hutchinson is a nice guy with a straight-forward teaching style. The only knock against him that I can think of is that some of the questions on quizzes and tests are several times harder than the examples he does in class. You may not retain any of the material, but the class is a breeze.

Great instructor, very approachable and kind. Assign homework, but not collected. Take home quizzes are harder than regular exams. However, if you have a question on his take home quizzes, Eric will help and answer your math problem. Eric has always been a person who WANTS you to achieve and fail. Eric is a wonderful and caring instructor. So great that I will be taking his Math 181 Cal in the spring of 2008. I received an A+ for Math 128. I HIGHLY recommended Eric for ALL math classes at CSN. He is the best professor for those who do not like math. He teaches in a way that makes it comprehendable by anyone. I am a math person though and would prefer a little more in depth explanations, proofs etc. However, this course could definitely be called 'Calculus for dummies'. If you are not good at math take him, you will pass if not make an A.

Excellent professor! I highly reccomend him. I was able to understand the material more clearly than the other professor ive taken for math128. He's always willing to help you out and he grades the quiz/exam right away and you get it back the next day, unlike other teachers who take forever just to give back papers.

He does all the intermediate steps instead of skipping them like other teachers at this level. 4 very hard quizzes but can work in groups on them. 4 tests and a final not so hard. I didnt realize just how gifted a teacher he was until I started taking calc2 with another professor. I thought calc was easy, but now I realize it only seemed easy because Hutchinson could explain things so diligently. He has a rare gift and a talent for the craft of teaching.

he will usually start A- from 89%. as i said he is a very generous grader. Especially if he notices your efforts. Dont expect to go in and be lazy either, but if you try he is awesome.

I disagree the previous MATH 095 online statment. He posted videos, and even though they were dated they were helpful. He answered emails quickly and explained how to do problems clearly. He even made a special trip to the Henderson campus to help me. I would recommend seeing him for help first before complaining! He is very approachable.

Took the online class. 1 quiz each week, 3 exams, reviews before every exam (mirrors tests,) homework assigned but not graded or turned in. Teacher responds quickly, will give you extra points if you argue about an answer (even a wrong answer). Good guy, man.

Actually...he tells you exactly what you need to learn and there's no way to misinterpret him. He puts his notes online so be sure to print them out and bring them to class so you can follow along. Beware of small errors and mistakes in the notes and on the board. Tests are exactly like the practice tests he posts online so focus on those.

What more good things can I say . . . I would definitely take him for Precal II. Overall, HE is one of the best professors in the Math Dept. Intelligent and very approachable. He gives extra credit, worth 5 points through an in-class quiz, so you better not missed it. It would really help raise your score.

He is a great Professor. He goes over his lectures with great detail and speaks very clearly. The only problem, are his Tests. He gives Sample tests to help prepare but they are easy compare to his tests. For some reason he makes like 3-4 different versions. And I guess some are easier than others. Seems like I always get stuck with the hardest. :(

Hands down --1 of the BEST professors Ive ever had. Fit my learning style to a "T"-- If you are into theory, not your guy --but if you want to know get to the grass roots of how to solve the problems-- definitely your guy. Do ALL homework and attendence is VERY HELPFUL, gives bonus problems and allows use of TI-89 and other graphing calcs on exams.

Definitely one of the better professors I've had. He essentially gives you the grade, you just have to have the willingness to take it. Only reason anyone should fail this class is a complete inability to understand the subject matter.

Took online class with him. There are about 2 homework and 2 quizzes each week. The homework does not count for grade, but you need to complete it in order to unlock the quiz. You can retake the quiz again if you're not satisfy with the grade. I think it'll be better if you take with him in class instead of online. He's very helpful.

I took this professor's online summer course - 2010. We went through the book on our own for the most part and took weekly quizzes. There were two exams that we had to take on campus. He was always available for questions and was very prompt in replying to his emails. Overall, it was a good experience.

The best math professor! I took his MATH 128 course in spring 2011. He is always pleasant and very helpful. I wish other professors are more like him. College life would be a better experience.

He is very helpful and his lectures really do help you learn the material. I was having lots of trouble learning math, he is the only teacher that has helped me understand this material. His notes are great and his lectures work wonders.Do not take any other math professor.

Online homework is not the same as the book; I recommend using the textbook for test preparation. Sample test problems are not the same degree of difficulty as the actual test. He recommends utilizing the math tutors; I used the personal tutors and the math center. He is fair, but the amount of material and the pace were challenging.

I took his class online. The resourse through the website he uses are amazing. I had very little contact with him, but when I did hsve to email him he was very nice and I could tell that he cares about his students. I give him an A+!

This is a phenomenal professor. He gives three tests, has study guides before the tests and even has small extra credit opportunities. Any poor grade was 100% due to the students laziness. Give you his notes you can print out online. Also gives you review problems and sample test before every test. Uses mymathlab and gives you 1 month to do your homework. If you pay attention in class, do your homework, and take notes you will do fine. He is also very nice and helpful.

Let me post my review before I get my final grade just to be fair. I am currently taking his math 128 class. He mainly uses MYMATHLABPLUS which is an online study program and it is very easy to use. Problems are pretty simple if you do your HW. Whenever I had a problem, I emailed him and I've got my answer within 2 hours. Awesome professor!!

Professor Hutchinson is a great professor. I have taken him for Math 126 and 127. He is very helpful and wants his students to succeed. I received in A in both of the semesters that I took him. He does a great exam review the class before the exam that gives you a VERY solid idea of what will be on the exam. Highly recommended.

Responds to emails quick & uses mylabsplus, which is an awesome online book that teaches you everything. When you take math online, you are pretty much teaching yourself. He tells you what you need to study for the tests & can take quizzes up to 2x. All in all, awesome math teacher & I enjoyed this online math class.

He's legitimately the best math teacher I have EVER had. His lectures are fast-paced, but if you ask questions, he'll stop & explain before moving on. He tutors as well, and all the homework is due the day of the test. His class enrollment fills up quickly though, so I recommend jumping in there fast - I wasn't fast enough to get him for 127. :C

This professor moves very, very fast, and he needs to for this class, but provides clarity, even for those who are completely unexposed to the material covered. Hutchinson is the best you will find for 128. Grades very fairly and gives partial credit. Greatly appreciated his notes he provides of every lesson. The notes help you tremendously. He also does 5pts ExC opportunity for each exam. Try to take 126 and 127 seperate with him. 128 is a beast. Can use notecard on exam. He is humble and easy to talk to.

I took this class online, there's lot of homework that you have to do to be able to take the quizzes, and there’s 3 test as well. All 3 test must be taken at campus. However, as long as you study you will do well.

He doesn't do any real teaching in the online course, but I can tell he is an easy-going professor. Everything is done via the MyMathLab mode of instruction: 11 quizzes (lowest score dropped), ungraded homework needed to unlock the quizzes), and 3 proctored exams. Just kind of wish I would have taken him for MATH128 instead of Professor Wang.

Took his online class, VERY EASY. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how he gives you review problems to study for the tests. homework and quiz each week but FAIRLY easy as long as you do them. I got a B in this class because I didn't put as much effort but the TIMES i did, I got As on the homework and on some of the tests. JUST DO YOU WORK and you'll do great!

I have taken this instructor for both 126+127. He is very informative and tries to help his students by giving a sample test that he will go completely over. The sample test will resemble the actual test just with different numbers but still the same process to solve. The instructor makes math easy and it actually makes sense lol

The online class was easy. I did it over the summer so you had to do 3 hw and quizzes per week. when you take quizzes your able to take up to 2 tries. The midterm and final he had a sample exam. You study only the problems that will be on the tests. I recommend him for math!

Class is super hard since its 2 classes in 1. You must go to class 4 daysweek. Professor gives lots of ways to help you learn the material. This was the hardest class Ive ever taken. I went to tutoring 2x per week. There is a ton of homework and tests are tough, but he is a fair grader. He also posted videos of the lecture examples on youtube.

He is clear with points and if you get stuck he is available both online an in person to help. A few times he extended the due date for us because he really wanted to make sure we all really understood what we were doing. He gives samples of the exams along with answer key and chapter break downs for studying. HE IS AMAZING!! Seriously. THE BEST!

He's a great professor. I just took the 6 week course online over summer. Math is by far my worst subject, and I still managed to get a B-. He gives out study guides for the midtermfinal, and he also gives you an answer key where he shows you how to work out the problems. They're very close to the actual exams. You won't regret taking him!

Any math course online is extra difficult but Professor Hutchinsons online webpage has very clear notes that are easy to understand. He also gives sample tests that are very similar to the real test. This is a calculus class, so it is going to be hard. There is no getting around that. You must study, and stay on top of your homework. Prof. Hutchinson is a very good educator and person. If you need help, he is there. He also has video lectures parallel to what you are learning in class which help a lot. But it is up to you to do well or not

Bonus problem before each exam & final Videos on his YouTube are the exact same as lectures. Sample exams very similar to exams VERY ORGANIZED 3 Exams 1 Final Code needed for my math lab has digital textbook.

Just finished taking his precalculus class (Math 126), and I have to say that he is probably the best professor you can have when taking mathematics! Got great video lectures, notes were clear, and the HW was relatively easy. Only thing I truly disliked were his tests, as they were VERY difficult. Overall though, great mathematics professor!

I took his class for the summer 8 week session. He is a very good professor and is very clear. I recommned him to anyone who has trouble with math. He puts videos on youtube that go over the study guides for tests. The study guides are almost exactly how the actual test is. He also replies fast to emails.

Online summer class took some work. I had homework due every week on MyMathLab that took a really long time, so don't procrastinate. We took tests 3 tests over 8 weeks that made up 75% of our grade. The other 25% was homework. His website was super helpful! It has notes, 3 practice tests with how to do it on youtube, and practice questions.

One of the best professor's I've had. Took his online class. Every lecture is recorded with lots of examples and easy to understand. I fell in love with math again. Thanks professor Hutchinson.

Hutchinson is an excellent professor. All of his lecture notes and videos are posted online. He additionally provides 5 points of extra credit per exam which can raise an exam score by 5%. The practice exams provide students with an idea of which topics to expect on an exam, but the actual questions will typically vary. His humor is 11/10.

Bonus questions you have to be in class for if you want the pts. Math is easy if you practice and ask questions and think about the way to do them.

Hutchinson is an incredible calc professor. He posts every set of lecture notes online, along with video examples where he details exactly how to do various types of problems. He offers bonus questions for every exam & you can even ask him for help on these. He explains things in plain language and makes a difficult subject as simple as possible

He is a very organized professor. All the lectures are available online as videos. So, if you happened to lose a class, you can watch the videos and understand everything as you were present in class. He has notes for every subject he covers. There are 4 tests and HW is not due till the first test .Very nice gentleman. He also answer your emails.

Math is not one of my strong suits, but Hutchinson made everything so much easier to understand. He gives practice test so you'll have an idea of what's going to be on the actual test. He also provides videos/notes explaining how to do the problems. Best math teacher I've taken.

Hutchinson made MATH127 easy to understand. His study guides reflected the tests and there were no surprises of weird problems on the test. He teaches the material to make it understandable. You do use ALEKS for homework. I would definitely take him for 127.

Hutchinson was by far the best Math Professor at CSN. He explains everything and does multiple problems for each part of the section. Study your homework and notes and do more problems out of the book to pass the class. Got an A on the final because i studied for that test and its comprehensive, did not do so well on the first four tests. study!!!!

He is so great 4 main exams+weekly HW you get an extra credit chance for each exam. I took both 126&127 with him regular semesters and once I tried online same outline either option some HW a little long some short. I took Math 126 online over the summer with Professor Hutchinson. I thought he was a great and caring teacher. I am actually sad that I don't have him next term for 127. I found his video lectures for reviewing the tests to be most helpful. I made sure to do the practice problems and watch the videos of him explaining each process a few times.

This professor literally hands you the information you need to pass the class. If you fail its 100% your fault. MATH can be challenging for some but he responds to emails right away and is in the office every day to help. The practice tests are almost exact to the tests, obviously he has to change the numbers used but thats it! Wonderful guy!

He makes everything easy to follow. He bases his lectures off the notes so even if you're at home, you can understand everything by looking at the notes. He tells you exactly what you want to hear when you need help from him. I've never met a professor that makes math so easy to understand. Make sure to study though!

He provides ALL MATERIAL on-line and goes over it in class. Miss a class? Just ask what section we did in class and do it on your own time and pace. He has YouTube videos for all problems. He gives example tests and they are close to the actual test. No surprises and lots of material given. I hope to take him through MATH 181.

Professor Hutchinson is awesome. He always answered any questions I had right away. His videos were great and he explains everything in the notes and videos. I took his online class the Aleks homework is time consuming but he gives you practice tests that help you know what to expect.

I changed my major to math because of this class. His teaching style is hands down the best there is. He's so receptive to questions. He provides study guides that are nearly identical to the actual exam. His exams tend to be harder than the SG so keep that in mind. I thought I would hate taking this class online, but it turned out to be amazing!

I took both of Professor Hutchinson's 8 week 126 and 127 courses in the spring. I was never great at math but he made both classes easy to understand. He provides videos, notes, and sample tests through Calc 1. Just put in some effort to learn the material and you will pass this class. I am actually excited to be taking him for 181 in the fall!

I was extremely nervous taking an online math course, simply because I thought it was impossible to get the actual help I needed for math. Prof. Hutchinson has a video playlist with all the tests reviews that saved my life! He goes over every type of question that's going to be on the test in detail! So you have no reason to do poor in this class!

I took Math 126 at UO 20 years ago, this term I took a condensed summer course MATH127. It wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination, but I did well with the support Prof Hutchinson offers. Excellent descriptive videos, available for office hours, very responsive . He cares and wants you to do well, and helps you get there if you show effort.

Ive taken prof Hutchison for math 126&127 & all I have to say is take him! Ive received As for both classes, just watch all his study material videos & print out his notes that go with the videos, & youll do great. The only down side is the homework it could get tideous at times, its through ALEKS. He makes its very clear whats on each test.

I am so glad I took his class during the summer semester. straight forward on what is required to pass the class and alot of practice in ALEKS. If there is a problem in ALEKS he would extended it until problem was fixed. Also, I am currently taking 127 with another professor as his class was full. and I still use his website to help me.

Honestly I suck at math and I passed this class. He gives amazing notes, sample tests, consistent office hours. He sets up his students for success. Also! Dont skip out on Aleks, which is where I sort of slacked! Stay consistent with trying to get as much done as you can each assignment and guaranteed youll pass with a high grade!

This was my third time taking math 126 and thanks to this professor I was finally able to pass with a great grade! The resources he provided were so helpful. Theres a few homework assignment every week, three tests, and the final. The final was a bit difficult but the other tests were fine thanks to the sample tests he provides! Would recommend!

Professor Hutchinson is a real gem. He breaks down each concept into pieces you can understand. If you happen to miss a class, everything he does in class is posted on his website so that you can view a video of the EXACT lecture you would have missed. This means attendance is not necessary, but an added bonus if you are not understanding fully.

To preface this, I couldn't even pass math 95 in the beginning. Math is NOT my thing at all. Not sure how I got this far. He has notes and videos for every single kind of problem you'll be doing so you can watch and practice as many times as you like. Even for the tests! I took him for 126 as well. My second time taking one of his classes and it was just as great as the last. I struggle a lot with math, but he makes it so easy. He has practice exams and theyre almost exactly like the real exams. The exams are not proctored! The homework is easy too. If youre not good at math, do yourself a favor, and take his class!!!!

One to two assignments due every week. His tests/exams are very similar to his practice test/exams and he has a video on Youtube explaining each question. The only thing I sometimes found hard was the online assignments because they don't always provide the best explanation and his notes sometimes don't help. However you have unlimited tries on it.

His homework assignments are lengthy and theres two or three every week, but he attaches videos with every question if you need additional help while doing it. I took his 8 week class and failed his 2nd exam. I feel behind because life and I spoke to him about my circumstances and he gave me the opportunity to redo homework to prepare for my 3rd exam. Best math professor I have ever had. Gives partial credit. Very easy to get into his office hours if you need. He uses the MyOpenMath system, super easy, and he codes all of his own problems. I would say he is the dream math professor to have. I plan on taking him for Math 181 and I'm disappointed I didn't get to take him for Math 127. TAKE HIM!

Took the 8 week online course, exams are taken at the CSN testing centers. Prof. Hutchinson will typically hold lectures online and go over each section and be emailed to help with homework questions. 4 exams throughout course, if you complete the homework and practice everyday throughout the semester you will pass and understand Trigonometry.

Professor had a lot of free resources and resources online. The online textbook was free even! Professor met with me many times readily. I really recommend him! Some of the homework was hard but it really prepared me for the exams. Extra credit opportunities were helpful. Loved the professor and thankful for the help and materials.

Great online class! 2-3 assignments per week, each having thorough instructions. Three tests and one final (no midterm), all in-person. Test reviews are very similar to the test material. I personally didn't have to use the textbook or lecture videos, but everything else was very handy and he's very accessible through email.

I have already taken precalculus before so this class wasn't super hard but professor Hutchinson is an amazing teacher! Pheonomenal Professor. Very responsive to emails and messages, even on weekends too! Math is a hard subject but he makes it easy to understand. He provides everything you need to succeed in this class. As long as you're willing to put in a little bit of effort, you'll almost guaranteed to pass the class. Just took his first test today and the sample test and playlist he gave helped me do really well on the test (i think). Hes really kind and caring to students. Just got back the grade for my first test, and honestly, I did a lot better than I thought I did. The test pretty much reflected exactly what he taught in the lecture videos, homework, and the sample test. If you study those and get them down, you'll be set for the tests. I would 100% take him again, if I go onto Math 181, I wish I had him for 126.

This math teacher is the best! The class consists of two videos: one about 1.5 hours long and another 30 minutes or more. We have two assignments each week, usually with 12-20 questions. The practice tests closely resemble the actual tests, which really helps. Overall, he makes learning math enjoyable and effective!

Mr. Hutchinson's lectures are thorough and he explains everything. He always answers questions, and will stay after class to explain to as many students as he has to. He truly cares about your education and wants to see you succeed. He offers practice tests for all 4 exams, and goes over a version of the practice test the class before each exam.

Eric Hutchinson is a great professor, as per his reviews. I took his in-person MATH 126E course, which consisted of MATH 126 and MATH 26. Be sure to do the practice tests over and over again. They will help you so much with the exams and the finals. There are review assignments that can be done to get extra credit.

I'm currently in his in-person 181 class and its great! He sets aside 10 min before class ends for questions, and you can leave during that time if you dont have questions. He has prior online lecture vids if you miss the in-person class, (not recordings of the actual in-person class). I was scared of Calc tbh, but hes extremely helpful and caring.

Great structure to the class, easy to find notes and videos to review. Even though the material was challenging for me, I still enjoyed the class.

I barely passed 126E & 127 and I thought Calc 1 would be a living hell for me but this has been a smooth and easy ride, the ratio of 5 stars to 1 speaks for itself. Although we have different opinions, but I say the people that rated him 3 below is just plain lazy and refuses to put in the work.

Hutch has got to be my favorite math teacher of all time. He goes through each problem step by step and its really easy to follow along plus he has lecture notes available to do as he lectures. He's very approachable and friendly, and will answer any questions you may have, especially after class. But you'll still need to work hard if u want an A.

I took him for MATH 126, and I think my rating will drop slightly after MATH 181. Calc is hard, but it is possible to do well. I just wish he were able to get students more involved with the lecture, as they can be long and tiring. The tests were difficult, and he seems to take off lots of points sometimes, while other times it's more lenient.

Professor Eric Hutchinson is amazing. He tells you what is expected of you and he teaches really well. Trys to make hard conpets of math is and simple to understand. You do have to work for an A but it's worth it.
