never talk it!espically with him no help at all and if you dont know it good luck
i like him because he helps me to understand math so much easier.
freakin hottie!
Prof. Eric Denooyer was an excellednt teacher... I would recommend him very highly!!!! Two thumbs up... WAY UP! He was very helpful!
I TOOK THIS AS A COMPUTER INTERACTIVE PLUS LECTURE CLASS, WHICH I DIDN'T LIKE AT ALL, BUT THE INSTRUCTOR DEFINITELY KNOWS HIS ALGEBRA. HE'S A TALL EYEGLASS WEARING CUTIE.
GREAT INSTRUCTOR! HE GOT ME MOTIVATED AGAIN WHEN I BECAME DISCOURAGED MID-SEMESTER. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR TO EVERYONE.
He is great! This class is interactive which means everything is taught by the computer but it is nice because if you have any questions just ask and he will help. If you don't do well on a quiz you can try 2 more times to do better.
The Computer does the teaching not the teacher. He just sits around just in case you need help. Not bad if you dont mind having a teacher that doesn't teach.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! Everything is on plato. All he does is sit there and looks at his computer. When doing review is the only time he talks, but explain or go over the right problems Had to get out of his class along with a bunch of other students!!!! Hated it!!!
I am in a blended class and enjoy his ways of teaching.
Complete waste of time. Useless lectures and a ridiculous amount of homework. I have him for Elementary stats at HCC.
He's really nice, and clear in his syllabus what he expects. A lot of people seem to have the wrong impression of him. If you ask him, he will help. You just have to ask.He pretty much waits all class to help people. He even tutors in the TL building. Just show interest in your grade, and you'll pass his class.
This dude may have his heart in the right place, but 300 homework questions(all with multiple parts) out of the book, reads from powerpoint slides most of the class, and says more words than are in the whole damn book. Waste of time, more than 60% dropped his class, most of which had to pay out of their pocket for it. Denooyer, l2t(learn to teach)
If you are not good in math or do not have tons of time to spend on Plato, I would suggest not taking his class.
Okay, this class is taught online. The teacher does not teach well. He is not so lenient. both his midterm and final are hard. I got a 79 in his class and asked him to bump it up to an 80, he would not do so. DON'T TAKE HIM.
great teacher
Had him for elementary statistics. Out of a class of 31, 17 dropped it. Horrible.
☺Literally, the best statistics teacher there is at SPC.☺ "AWESOME CLASS!"
Stats-- the class isnt that bad if youre a good student. you need to attend every class bc at the end youll receive a 4 ? fll in the blank quiz. every test is fill in the blank as well.
He is very punctual, goes directly by the syl. Attend EVERY class, fill in the blank quiz on the material you just went over, you can use your notes. Still not too helpful. Every exam is fill in the blank. Not good at math and received a C, don't recommend.
He is very understanding if you miss a day or two, but I taught myself the whole year, he isn't really good at teaching the lessons.
Prof. DeNooyer is a wonderful teacher. I have never been strong in any math and was very apprehensive about taking statistics, yet I received an A. Prof. DeNooyer was available for tutoring nearly every day and his instruction was top notch. Providing the student takes personal responsibility for their grade they will excel.
Very hard class. He doesn't teach. If you are not good at math, I do not recommend this class. Basically, every class we meet, we have a quiz that is due by the end of the class, and it is on a new lesson that you have never seen before, and he teaches while you take the quiz. It sucks. He can explain well, but he doesn't teach. I teach my self.
Very understanding teacher, and if you need extra help he is helpful in explaining the concept to you, however,it is kind of hard to follow along with the work because each time you come to class there is quizzes on new stuff as he teaches it. It may seem like a difficult class at first, but when you get used to it, it becomes easier.
He is a great teacher.
Lectures is very hard. He gives quiz when Lecturing basically you have to teach yourself. Don't recommend.
Knows his material. A very high maintance class. Exams are difficult have to show work even with calculator. Also NOT multiple choice exams written exams. Quizzes are given for every attendance and homework require to understand his teaching method. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
BEST PROF!!!! the quiz/ lecture is great but def write down everything that he writes and says, you will come back to it. HE does one on one help during and after class as well as tutoring and office hours. do the hw for extra help! for the exams a little challenging but still ok, do both reviews that he provides and you will pass!!!make math easy!
Knows his mathematics. He is a decent teacher, sometimes hard to understand because he assumes you know math terms. Gives quizzes in class which can sometimes be stressful because you're too worried about completing the quiz on time to listen to the lecture. Do the homework and go to tutoring! Overall would recommend but you have to put the time in
DO NOT take this professor. Unless you are really good at math and can learn on you're own choose a different professor. He does "in-class quizzes" every time you're there, its how he does his attendance and counts towards you're final grade. He doesn't teach any lessons and is so hard to learn from.
Eric is a brillant man and he is very intuitive with what his students need.
You basically teach your self, and he does not show you how to do it on a calculator (as other professors do). He wants his students to know how to do everything by hand. So, all the math is done by hand.. as well as the ".04820483" decimals.
The course is great if you're a self-directed learner with half a day every day to spare for homework. He works through a graded practice set each day in which your problems may be completely different from what he's working on the SmartBoard. The homework tends to increase every hour, and WebAssign is expensive! Nice guy, but proceed with caution.
Great teacher. He explains everything very well and wants you to do well. He uses pearson and also does problems from there so it is easy to understand. If you need help, just ask him and he will do his best explaining the problem.
Great teacher. I really learned a lot in his class.
Mr.D was great! If you need help, he will help until you get it. He is extremely understanding. But, if you think you're going to slide through the course, you won't. Care about how well you do, and you will do great in this class. Can't wait to have him for statistics! Oh...and he is SUPER cute.
I was a first time college student after a 9 year break from school. I took Stats in the Summer. He was GREAT. The class itself is hard, a slacker wont make it, but if you work hard, do your homework, and attend class--you will have no problem passing. He offers extra help and reviews before the tests. I got a 98% A.
He does not teach for one to be able to understand how to do the homework problems. I am a math major and found how he teaches very unhelpful when it comes to doing well in this course.
Worst teacher yet! Very arrogant, no help what so ever! Hard class for sure, plus you have to teach yourself. I have never met a teacher at SPC that didn't want their students to succeed (he's the first) I was set up for failure.
I took him for college algebra. He uses MyMathLab, which is occasionally annoying, but easy to use. He would go over example problems in class each week, and help you if you needed it. I'm decent at math, so this wasn't too terribly hard for me, just frustrating occasionally. Over all, pretty laid-back class.
Taking trigonometry online is like most other online math classes; you generally teach yourself using MyMathLab. He was definitely very willing to help out though. I often got emails he would send out to the entire class when somebody asked him about a challenging question. Very nice guy, glad I got to take this class with him.
Professor DeNooyer is hands down the best professor that you could possibly take for a math course! Every test has extra credit afterwards to improve your score as well as being able to retake one of your tests. There is a mini-quiz at the end of each class, but if you do your homework 1st, its a breeze. Also, 20% of those are dropped. Nicest prof!
Lots of homework, but I couldn't imagine learning Stats any other way. Really wants his students to succeed, responds to emails promptly, happy to help a student individually, and has a very forgiving grading structure if you're having a hard time with particular chapters.
He is an awesome professor! I took him for the first time for my Trigonometry course online, and he was very helpful. His Test and Exams are straightforth, he allows you to do preps to prepare for them. If you study, do all your assignments you will be sure to get an A.
The deadlines are confusing, there are 2 and it is not very clear as to why. I felt the teacher was a tad rude; I'm not a good test taker and after the exam I received an e-mail that was rather discouraging. When students need help on a problem her feedback never helps but made the material harder to understand. Basically Mathlab is the teacher.
6 tests, each with extra credit homework at the end to raise your grade. YOU HAVE TO STUDY FOR THIS COURSE AND DO THE HOMEWORK AND QUIZZES. He wasn't a very good teacher; I mostly taught myself statistics. The homeworks, quizzes, and preps and tests came from the same question bank. I passed with a 98 but others weren't so lucky.
He was awful, not at all helpful with anything. You teach yourself with mymathlab, and good luck if you have a question for him. I would avoid his class if possible there are much better professors out there.
Clearly knows the material thoroughly. At the beginning of the semester, when he says you're supposed to work ahead and use the class sessions for questions and clarification on problem areas, he means it. He has a very clear syllabus and sticks to it, no surprises. Overall, a very fair professor. Expect to work for an A but he'll meet you halfway.
Intermediate algebra. I thought he was a very good teacher. Things I didn't get before I now got. He teaches the new section most of the class then we have a couple questions to answer at the end of each section on my math lab. Easy points.
Prof. Denooyer is one of the best math teacher I've had in my entire life. He knows what he's talking about and able to assist you if you have any questions. BUT if you are someone who doesn't like going to class, then don't take his class. You have mini review quizzes (graded) after each lesson to make sure you understand. I recommend this class.
Although he is a kind individual, The biggest issues stem from his teaching and material on tests, and quizzes. He has difficulty translating abstract concepts into concrete ideas. He also puts in a plethora of off topic questions on the tests, quizzes, and homework that ultimately never teach you the core ideas. Reading does not help either.
I took him for Calc 1 and 2. He is without a doubt one of the best teachers I've had. A lot of people don't like his lecture method (teaches concept and then gives examples), but it works very well for me. All of his tests have an abundance of practice and he has extra credit. He is easy to talk to and is a great friend. I highly recommend.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE if you aren't good at math. I am currently enrolled in his summer Applied Calculus Class and it is difficult. I feel like he shows irrelevant information and confuses the student. Do not recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's a nice guy but a terrible teacher. Lectures are complex and very hard to follow. There are two in-class assignments every class that are impossible to pass. You will be expected to know everything before each lesson.
he's a good teacher I'm taking him again for college algebra. He's very nice and if you're confused he'll go over it with you until you get it. He also has tutoring.
this is one of the best professor I ever had if you really wanna a professor that answer all questions with more detail and comes to your table and sit next to you and make it very easy don't hesitate to take him for your career.
Professor DeNooyer likes to think everyone has the ability to learn math as quick as he does, and gets impatient and frustrated when someone asks a question. If you email him and are lucky enough to get a response, its definitely backhanded and rude. He literally teaches his class what theyre NOT supposed to do. Dont bother paying for this class
You can tell he knows his stuff. Takes time to explain if subject matter is not understood. Gives plenty of opportunities to improve your grade; you just have to do the work. I would definitely take another class from him.
Very unspecific with his grading policies. I had asked several questions on how the grading for homework, quizzes, and tests would effect my overall course grade, and his answers were never clear. At the end of the semester, he went back on many of his first grading statements he had told me.
gives out SO much homework and the grading scale does not make any sense. Extra credit does NOT count if you dont do almost ALL of the homework, which is A LOT. I would not take again because this professor caused much unneeded stress and the grading scale comes back to hurt your grade in the end. Dont take
He does not teach at all. He rambles while trying to do our homework problems that are assigned by MyMathLab. He is very monotone and difficult to pay attention to. It is pretty hard to fail this class. He gives lots of extra credit and drops 20% of your grade. Do not take this class unless you are okay with teaching yourself or getting a tutor.
Nice guy, but this class was just too much work. There were three in-class exams that are worth a large portion of your grade. everything else was worth very little. Very stressful as lots of things were due each week. When it came to emails, he was good. However, I would not reccomend.
I had the chance to sit in his lecture and then switch to the online section. In person, the lectures moved too slowly and I wanted more enrichment. Online, he is a fair grader and responds quickly to questions. I liked the grading format. He lets you drop low scores or replace low scores. I would take his class again online.
If you do everything right it doesn't matter because it all seems to come down to the final and midterm in this online course. He will drop grades but no extra credit whatsoever. I do not recommend it.
Dont take this class if your bad at math like me. You can do all your homework right and test but if you get a D on both the midterm and the final you wont get higher then a C in the class. Also took his class online didnt hear from him once the whole class.
Personally, I love math. This professor slowly squeezed that love out of me during the course of this semester. I struggled to maintain focus for more than few minutes, as his monotone voice blends into white noise. His graphical drawings in Microsoft paint are lengthy, confusing, and half the times turn out incorrect at the end! Very disappointed.
Professor DeNooyer's 8-week class was enjoyable, his humor radiated through his quizzes. The work itself is difficult as it's math, but he sets up the lessons so that each new topic flows smoothly from the last. Attendance was not mandatory and he gives you many opportunities to raise your grade through homework and extra credit.
This class was really well organized and Professor DeNooyer was so responsive. The class had a very organized and clear layout. If you had any problems with content, Professor DeNooyer was happy to address it by email or during his office hours he really wants you to learn the course material and do well in his class would 1000% take again
I had to take this class online because it was the only way I could take it this semester. He was talking like a robot for an hour every class and not to mention he would use Microsoft paint for his notes, and half the time he would mess up the problem and would have to restart the question. As an engineering major this sucked the love of math away
An excellent professor in my opinion! While the lectures can seem very draining especially over long periods of time, Dr. DeNooyer offers very flexible office hours during the week where students may come in and receive one-on-one help with topics that they're having trouble with.
Prof. DeNooyer was a decent teacher, his lectures were very stale and he sounds like a robot. He barely gives partial credit, and when he does its half of a percentage point. There is NO extra credit throughout the course or a curve, the final is 35% of your grade with the midterm being worth 25%. The only thing worth impactful points are the exams
DeNooyer is undoubtedly the worst professor I've ever had. Every lecture by him I've ever sat through is 1. impressively ineffective and 2. has made me want to start pulling out my own teeth for any semblance of mental stimulation. He is the word bland. He is the personification of gray. Do not take him if you hold any regard for your time or life.
DeNooyer's lectures are extremely bland and completely uninformative. The entire class rides on the final and midterm. He uses MS Paint and the computer calculator to preform his lectures and it is very hard to read and understand. I could not recommend this course any less.
Great teacher, his lessons can be bland on occasion and I don't particularly blame him as it is difficult to make this section of math interesting. Super nice and allows for a ton of flexibility. Also doesn't get angry and calmly addresses issues.
Very bland lectures that has no depth. When he works on a problem on Microsoft Paint, he would occasionally mess up and not notice until someone calls him out on it. As someone aiming for a STEM related degree, algebra has became more of a chore than a passion due to his monotonous lectures.
Mr. Denooyer would start the class by opening Microsoft whiteboard and drawing examples for his math problems (using mouse), this made it absolutely illegible and we never even got proper lessons (formulas, definitions etc.). Overall not the best teacher I've had and he relies heavily on the final and midterm are averaged together 60% as of grade.
The professor is not bad, the grading however is tough you could get 100s on everything but if you fail the midterm and final which is worth 70%, you'll most likely not pass, there is no curving/extra credit. If you're a good exam taker with no notes then you'll do good in the class, if you're not I recommend a different professors class.
He doesn't make himself available for his student's and responds to emails pretty late; he's not doing he's job, you're pretty much teaching yourself. Only the midterm and final matter to him and he doesn't have good reviews for either of them. He doesn't care for what his students are going through and won't set you for success, he's a bummer
There was a lot of homework but the homework grade meant NOTHING towards your final grade. NOTHING. I got 100% on all my homework, and nearly all A's on my quizzes and tests, and still failed this class. The only grades that matter to him are the midterm and final, and if you bomb those? Tough luck, you just failed that class.
Very dry and boring class to be in. Homework is worth absolutely nothing in this class and every day your in the classroom you are taking a 5-15 question quiz that's due at the end of the lecture. Often gets practice questions wrong after 10-20 minutes of explaining how to do said problem. Teaching yourself is the only way to pass.
Not recommended. He doesn't teach well. Do yourself a favor and choose another professor. If it weren't for my dad being excellent at algebra, I would've failed.
Mr.DeNooyer is a very nice man. However, he is not a very good teacher. Every class was just watching him open working through the practice set problems out on MS paint. He would explain his every step. The problem is he doesn't take his time. I would look away for one moment and everything got confusing. Don't take if you can't teach yourself.
Very particular style consisting of MS paint and Pearson problems. Personally, this learning method works well and is straightforward. This was my second time taking a class with this professor and the concepts stick. However, this teaching style may differ on the person and their adaptability in both lecture notes and the assignments in Pearson.
Worst teacher ive ever had. Do not take this class if he's your professor. tests are so heavy graded and homework is worth nothing. He wrongfully assumed i was cheating, with absolutely no evidence.for someone who has always got good grades and ahead, I have to retake this class- save your money and chose a different and better professor.
I honestly suck at math but he gave plenty of resources to help build understanding and the textbook was pretty easy to understand... truly not a terrible class or professor. He was also really easy to communicate with and responded in a timely manor.
Nice enough guy, terrible teaching. If you struggle with math, avoid this class. He just writes examples on the board, gives no real explanation, and offers zero hands-on learning. The tests dominate your grade (about 80%). Not worth it.
