Best prof I've ever had. Weekly quizzes and learning modules made it fun and easy to learn the content. He genuinely cares about his students and does everything to help them succeed. Lectures were fun and informative. TB was helpful but lectures covered everything. Exams/tests were straight to the point and quite easy :)
All my online classes with other profs were really difficult but with Dr. Kam, it kind of had a different vibe like you are not directed to attend every class but, you will, because, this is why he is the BEST PROF IN THE WORLD.
Probably one of the best profs I've had so far. His lectures are very informative and his personality is great. very kind and always open to questions, you can tell he wants his students to do well. If you go to/watch his lectures and read the chapters you will do fine. He is so kind and caring, if you have him I highly suggest keeping him!
Wonderful professor, really cares for his students. He understands the struggle of university and makes going to class enjoyable.
Honestly one of the best professors I had this semester. You can really tell how much he loves economics and how passionate he is about it. His lectures were great and if you went to them and listened, the concepts were easy.
Prof Kam was amazing throughout the semester and with the help of his amazing lectures and hilarious moments the class was great to attend.
An AMAZING prof, you have to take him!! He makes lectures so fun, the content is easy to understand, and he doesnt make the tests too difficult. Hes also very nice and honestly made economics fun
Such an amazing prof! He was funny and carefree. Even though Econ is a hard course, he did a good job of explaining everything. There were lots of modules and learning activities which help your mark so don't skip those. Very dedicated and also replies to emails super fast. So glad I switched to his class!
Kam is an amazing professor I'm so lucky to be in his class. Be sure to read the textbook and understand the concepts. The dynamic studying modules and homework help a little bit, take notes from the textbook, understand them and you'll be okay.
Best teacher ever. Get this teacher if possible. Yes, he even won awards for teaching!!! He's funny and smart so don't miss out.
while the learning catalytics portion of the course did not help, kam's lectures were the best experience i had in first year. he explains concepts in crazy detail, going over them many times if necessary, and makes the tests passable. get him for 104 or 204 if you can. he is also so nice and approachable before, during and after class.
Great teacher. Tests were a little hard but you can get easy marks just by doing the mylab hw. Economics is a difficult course but he makes it a bit more simple.
Hands down THE best professor this semester. So accessible outside of class time! Quizzes and exams are easy as long as you listen to the lecture and do homework.
honoured to review 700 for rye's best professor and my fave prof. nothing but terror as i dived head first into my first covid semester and taking a course which is basically math. professors kam and peng made it enjoyable and fun. still not easy, but the best first year course by far.
He is a very chill and nice teacher. He cracks a few jokes here and there which makes lectures better and overall he is a good and organized teacher.
Great teacher! I'm leaving business but that's not because of him! Dr Kam was an angel, he's so fun and made class amazing!!!!
Through the remote Fall 2020 semester, I greatly enjoyed Dr. Kam's ECN 104. I was unfamiliar with economics before this class, but he clearly explained all topics and I found it very easy to understand. 3 tests (worst one dropped), 3 quizzes (worst one dropped), and a straightforward final exam. Super funny guy too. Take this class!
Professor Kam is hands down the best professor at Ryerson. He took his time to explain concepts and made it easier to understand microeconomics. He made class super interesting and always had his students engaged. Was very flexible, and he answered emails within 5 minutes. If you have the chance to take his class, TAKE IT, you won't regret it.
Legend. I didnt realize how lucky I got to have him as my first Econ prof until I had to deal with a different prof. He genuinely wants his students to learn and not to just get the course over with. Even though he may not get through ALL the material, you will leave with a very good understanding of Economics as long as you try.
As all the other reviews state... HE INDEED IS THE GREATEST PROF AT RYERSON!! First 15 minutes of the lecture (on the first day), he said you don't need the textbook but you'll need mylab. He sings during his zoom lectures, he's like a young dude stuck in an old dude's body
Eric truly cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. He is very accommodating and explains complex concepts in different ways so everyone understands it. Attend the lectures and read the textbook and it is definitely an easy A. Only Eric can make a 2 hour lecture entertaining. BEST PROF AT RYERSON!
This professor makes it very clear from the start of the course that his main concern is his students, our mental wellbeing and our ability to enjoy, respect and appreciate the material. I have enjoyed every minute of his lectures, his stories, and his banter back and forth with the students willing to be on camera.
Very nice professor, patient, smart and understandable! Kam is always willing to help you if you are having issue with questions or don't understand theory. I generally don't like math, however, having Dr. Kam as my instructor actually got me interested into this course.
In my two years in university I have never seen two professors work harder and better together than Dr. Kam and Dr. Peng. Dr. Kam did two hour lectures and Dr. Peng did all the stuff around the lectures like learning activities, Their personalities, styles and content complimented each other almost to a tee. Miss them both.
I loved the class even though it was a ton of work. If you do the fully online section with Kam and Peng, be prepared to be working all the time on the course. Lectures, learning activities, practice tests and real tests will take up a ton of your study time. That said some of my profs just put notes online. This was opposite.
Very good professor, very clear lectures and well-organized. Learned a lot. Make sure to attend his lectures - you will be tested on the problems that were discussed it class. Very caring and nice professor also, pleasure to deal with. Professional and very-very knowledgeable.
I actually really liked this prof. He was always so helpful no matter what time of day and he was one of the ones who honestly seemed to care about his students.
time to divide the profs from the course. the course was way too work heavy with stuff due each week if not two things. kam and peng were awesome.
best teacher ever. my friends and i actually tried to get out of this section into a better time slot and i ended up having the best teacher i will ever have in my uni experience.
The best prof I've ever had. He makes you want to attend lectures even though they're recorded. He's one of the only profs that really cares about the students. Him and Peng work together and deliver the course really well. The content is not too difficult if you pay attention to the lectures. The HWs assignments will easily boost your grade too.
Very hard marker almost everyone failed in my class. I advise everyone to be aware.
Did the dude before me say too many people failed? I was in Kam's intro micro class and almost nobody failed, and then I did his inter. macro course last semester and NOBODY failed. It is nearly impossible to fail since Kam drops your worst test. So, to the dude before me, bitter much?
the course itself was a pretty tough introduction to university. we had assignments, quizzes, or tests once a week. kam did the formal lecture hours and peng did the teaching assessment things. i would suggest this course for anybody who wants to learn and not for people who are not serious. kam and peng are amazing.
the most fair professor i have had at ryerson. three tests, mylabs, and he drops your lowest score. i will never forget that when i was sick with a doctors note, i asked him how i will make up the marks and he said it was up to me. so nice and accommodating. thank you for being so approachable.
we call him the 24 and 7 prof. he only does live classes and then puts them on brightspace. you can watch them 24 and 7. he answers emails 24 and 7. very accessible prof. very nice guy who bends over backwards to help students.
i am using RMP on behalf of our course to thank professor kam for intermediate macroeconomics this winter. his lectures were live, recorded, posted on D2L, and we could watch or download them. kam's course was an oasis in a sea of being ignored by other profs.
I just finished 3rd year. I never had him this semester but I had to write this after taking his class 3 times in the past. Don't know him well but he was the best prof I have take in the business program at Ryerson. If you fail or do very poorly in his class then it's definitely something on your side LOL! Super easy to email, very fair tests.
Professor Kam is one of the best educators you could ever have, period. He integrates humour into his lectures and is truly passionate about teaching and the subject of economics. Get in his class if you have the opportunity - you will not be disappointed, that is a guarantee. Amazing experience.
He is one of few profs who actually takes time and effort to go thru slides in detail, interacts with the class, asks questions and gives examples. Exams are fair, and the mylab assignments are not hard. he really helps you learn and understand the chapter properly. very accessible before, during and after lecture. great guy. highly recommend.
Amazing prof, makes lectures engaging. Keep up with the material, and tests and exams will be easy.
Kam is a gift to those of us struggling with e-learning right now. All lectures are recorded live and posted to Brightspace where you can watch them as many times as you need to understand. Notes are clear and lectures are 2 hours with a break.
Great sense of humour, keeps the lectures entertained. This is the first review I've written on Rate my professor, just because he deserves it. I wish all my professors were like him.
This class was amazing. I continually rant about professor Kam to all my friends and family about how great of a teacher he is. He broke down concepts easily, and made them relatable to the real world. Best prof ive had so far.
I cannot explain how amazing Prof. Kam was. My favourite professor that I've ever had. Cared about the material, taught it in depth and would respond to emails right away. Truly cared about his students and made learning fun. Said some questionable things at times but overall an amazing prof and person. Love you Prof Kam! Hope you're doing good!
read the words you see here over and over: amazing, caring, student friendly, fair grader, accessible: and that is dr. kam in a nutshell. his lectures are live and amazing and after class, just email him and he writes you back with no blackout period.
don't know if i can make this statement about any other univ. class but i actually miss our 301 lectures. i took the course thru night classes last semester and had a great experience with a patient caring prof.
the trick to his class is attend lecture. my course was all online and the lectures recorded so you could watch them to understand the harder parts of the models. the readings are not important or at least not as important as mylab and the lecture notes.
I took this course over the summer, and now I LOVE macro!!!! If you want to do well in this course than 1)do the readings and questions in the textbook 2)attend all lectures and make good notes. 3)past tests for eco301. The entire focus is on how a shock affects ur graphs.. if you can do that, you cannot end with a grade lower than 80!
Prof Kam is the most organized thoughtful instructor. He provides everything that one can think of to assist you to study, and his lectures are super useful. He puts in a lot of effort in helping his students. Email response time: less than ten minutes.
the gold standard at ryerson. great short engaging funny thought provoking lectures. lots of practice questions. kam is funny and cares more about his students than any other professor i had inside or outside of covid. a pleasure of a course. hope to have him again.
my only regret is that i didn't get to see him and meet him in person so i could tell him that he made me decide not to quit school. i didn't do that amazing in his course in a marks sense but it reminded me that good teachers can change the whole uni experience.
one in a million really in comparison to my other instructors at RU. he is super high energy from day one in the course, and never lets up right through and including his very emotional goodbye speech that some of us will never forget. his class is a bonus.
Kam's the GOAT, after just 1 class I could already tell that he was going to be one of, if not my most favourite teacher/prof I have ever had. Always cracking jokes, having real conversations with students, very good at explaining the course content and easily understandable, always accessible to email 24/7, and always keeps it real, unlike others.
Very engaging. Answer's emails very quick. Teaches thoroughly and makes the class fun. The textbook for this course is very good and helpful.
This man is an absolute legend. If you get this prof and mess up, YOU will feel bad.
Best experience inside or outside of a real lecture hall. Not the easiest course since it combines economics theory with math but as for a lecturer and a prof, Kam is the best by a long distance. Truly cares about his students success.
Eric is an amazing prof. I had him for first year and I actually wanted to learn what he was teaching because his content was so engaging. 100% recommend taking him if you have the opportunity
X's gift to those of us trying to learn during a pandemic the likes of which we haven't seen since the spanish flu 100 years ago. his lectures are amazing and he is funny and caring unlike my other first year profs.
E-Kam is a legend. When I email the guy over the weekend to ask about an upcoming midterm he writes me back from his phone in less than 10 minutes. His jokes border on hysterical and help pass the time.
kam is a rockstar. in lecture, on radio, on television, dudes got skillz. his lectures are really good and he asks the class to become part of the lecture. dude doesn't take himself to seriously but takes his job super serious.
AWESOME! Kam is a must have prof before graduation! He's super organized, very helpful, truly cares for his students (like all profs say they do but don't), and a great mentor. I learned so much in this class that he has inspired me to pursue Econ in my future studies.
Out of the many professors I've had at Ryerson, Kam is the most human in terms of showing more personality. I enjoyed the live lectures and using Pearson MyLab. His approach on handling the course is nothing short of a professional who loves his job.
Clear and concise. The value I got from his course was high. The textbook is good and he posts all the lecture slides that you need to succeed in his class without any blanks. Bottom line, understand the "big picture" behind the material taught and you will do great. He is awesome!
He's a very nice guy and a fun professor, he really helps you understand concepts and if you don't go to class you won't pass. That being said, this professor has a history of making girls kinda uncomfortable in class and tends to be very flirtatious so if that makes you uncomfortable definitely don't take this class.
Prof Kam is also one of the GOATS of Ryerson. His attitude towards teaching is on another level. He really cares about his students and teaching them well. He sends the slides that you need to know for the midterms. Is very understanding and overall a great guy. Having him again for ECN204 and I cannot wait!
he cares about teaching and his students. ecn isn't an easy course to begin with but he takes his time with his lectures. would definitely recommend, but be sure to pay attention in class
Best professor for first year BM. He clearly cares and classes are informative and a lot of fun
the best of the best for TRSM students. loved his class. have him again for 204. Kam for the win!
He cares about students and has fun lectures.
the last person made a huge understatement that makes me mad. kam's class is amazing and he couldn't be more student friendly if he tried. the class is like an episode of a television show. so happy to be taking 204 with him. happy hanukah, dr. kam.
Honestly, the course itself is somewhat difficult. So even if Kam is an amazing prof, if you don't put in the work, you won't do well. That being said, KAM IS THE GOAT. This man is so chill during lectures and overall, is able to teach students while remaining engaging as ever. Honestly, if you have to take ECN104, seriously go for Kam.
Professor Kam has been wonderful throughout the whole semester. ECN 104 is a pretty tough course but Professor Kam explained all the concepts well and even recorded lectures for students to look back on and review. Overall, he is an extremely caring professor that is very approachable outside of class and really cares for is students success.
He is a really good if not the GOAT prof. This is also my last class that he will teach that I can take and I'm honestly sad. I'm glad I got the chance to be a part of this class. Best prof I had at Ryerson. I highly recommend!
Truly a great prof who really cares about his students. He goes beyond to make it easier for students to prepare for exams by sending out handmade sheets that further explain the topics and by sending out PowerPoint slides with everything students will be tested on.
Genuinely an amazing prof that wants to see you succeed, with occasional jokes and side conversations! I wish I reviewed the material a bit more before going into the midterms/tests but overall it's a solid course with a great prof! (He responds to emails promptly!!)
Had Kam last semester for ECN 104. He's a solid professor and the lectures were fun to attend. We had weekly chapter quizzes but they were all due on the last day of classes. The midterms and exams were decent just make sure you read the textbook and attend lectures.
If anybody is not sure about taking Kam's 204 course in the winter, can they please drop it ASAP so we can transfer in!! He's the bomb. Honestly, there was nothing I disliked about him or his course. The grading is very fair and the mylab is easy.
i wish the course would have been in person but that's not kams fault. a very balanced approach to teaching. good lectures. well timed. short. tests are fair, assignments are easy, and class is jovial. good experience. sorry he's not in 600.
It is odd that he has favourites but I guess that's what happens when some people leave their cam on all class. Class seemed more like a chat at a coffee shop. Some people didn't like it but I thought it was an effective way to make it seem less like online school. Shout out to Angel, Alexis and Julia for being good assistants.
Prof is af He really do be pushing dat
Honestly one of the most caring professors out there. He is so understanding and friendly with students. You can tell professor Kam is confident in his teaching abilities. The midterm and final are explanatory, if you show up to class and do the labs then you would have no problem. He was also super accommodating in general.
Kam is the best professor I've had so far. He's insanely understanding, caring and wants every single one of his students to pass. He gives amazing lectures, in which they more-so seem like chill and laid back chat times. He goes over every concept multiple times to make sure each student learns. I've taken him twice and couldn't be more happy.
He is literally the best prof in ECN, caring and funny teaching makes u passionate for his class, and he will try everything he can to boost ur mark. So don't even need to worry about failing this course, do some work and make it ur GPA booster. The grades consist of 30% hw, 30% of mid or final whichever u get a lower mark, 40% of the higher one
Has to be one of the best teachers I have had over the years. He really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. He makes class fun and keeps you engaged. No matter the day of the week, even during holidays, if you have any questions you can email him directly and he gets back to you pretty fast. definitely would take his class again.
Truly hilarious and caring! Kam is such a legend at teaching, he will strike up a chat with random students and encourage them to talk through microphone, but does not get offended if they are not comfortable. Straightforward grading criteria, cares about his students spending unnecessary amounts of money on course materials, and is so personable.
just a fantastic teacher who apparently doesn't sleep. you write him a question and he writes you back in the middle of the night. lectures are totally fun, short, and he literally makes you want to come to class and ask questions. a gem.
i think what i liked the most was that kam was understanding that ce students are full time workers and in fact he catered the course around our schedules by video capturing all the lectures and putting them on d2l for us to watch at our convenience. the course wasn't easy but it was a positive experience.
some in my first year class thought kam's chatter on zoom were inappropriate or a waste of time but it was what made the course interesting and different. anybody can teaching economics but kam tried to get to know the class and the different people who at least turned their cameras on for part of the lecture. great lectures.
my appetite to consume this course only went up with each passing oration on the part of our professor kam. he was fun, descriptive, theoretical, real-world applicable, full of humour, and humble. he was willing to help us get from the start to the end of the course and filled the gaps where covid may have left us in the abyss.
Great dude overall, you won't regret taking him at all. I've only had him for 204 and he was so accommodating when it came to mixups over grades on tests or accessibility issues etc. His lectures are good and his humor/personality actually helps you learn the content - especially if you're bad/uninterested in economics. 10/10 would defo take again.
He's clearly a wonderful person and loves his job, replies to emails 24/7.However, I feel like he started this class expecting that we know everything from the sem before. He talks to like 3 people in the class about personal lives, mid lecture, often getting distracted which for me personally, is pretty distracting.Course load is manageable tho
I want future students to know that this is the one course they will take in their first year at Ryerson they will never regret because prof. kam cares about his students. the whole course is designed to help students. the tests are difficult but not comprehensive. the lectures are amazing and fun and funny.
somebody said that kam only talks to a few people in class and thats true but only because nobody puts on their cameras in zoom. i really like the chatter he has with some of the students and if people feel left out they should offer to be a class assistant. its not fair to claim favourites when nobody offers. kam is the best.
the professor is the goat, dude is the gold standard maybe the platinum standard in teaching economics in uni. i hate people that read off their slides. kam turns class into a conversation with the people with cameras on zoom. i hope to have him in person one day. i had him for 104 and now 204 and it is one of the better uni experiences.
Eric is a highly qualified teacher. My only regret is that I didn't have him for first year 104 and 204 as well as the intermediate course.
great course and great learning experience. two tests and some myeconlab quizzes, which are good review and not hard. excellent professor. hope to take him again for 600.
I love Kam, he makes such a difficult course like Macro, digestible. He records lectures and provides a separate deck of slides of what is actually important for testing. He is incredibly kind and you can contact him whenever (he makes that very clear). He just genuinely cares for his students and is an amazing professor. A MUST FOR AN ECON PROF.
Kam was funny and smart. I hate economics but loved the class. Didn't even feel like I was learning but I did learn a lot. I wish I could take his course again.
i hope kam is teaching the 2nd year stream of econ courses or i don't know what i will do. we had nice 2 hour lectures with a short break. class was lively with a few of the student helpers acting as the first row of the classroom. it was a different experience than other 1st year courses and a better experience
I love professor Kam. He is the best Econ prof I have ever had. He is very considerate. Love that he recorded all of his lectures. I would be more than happy to take his class again!
Kam such a GOAT. Short, fun & ez to understand lectures. Tests r non-cumulative & not hard at all. drops ur 2 lowest mylabs. leaves tests open for multiple days. Cuts down materials to lighten course. He's so caring and considerate. Will miss him & his stuffed octopus Jimmy. It's impossible to get lower than a B w/ him. Take him at all costs.
prof kam is the man with the plan. this guy is dope. great short lectures and mylabs to help you understand the test material. tests are tough but not if you review the pp slides. great uni experience.
I have never met a more caring, empathetic and understanding Prof. If only we had more ppl like Eric Kam in this world.....it would be a better world.
i want othat students to know that i was terrified to take econ because i failed it in high school. dr kam promised in the first class we had to know nothing about econ and he would start at ground zero. he replies to emails in minutes and sometimes seconds. i passed 204 because dr kam was so ready to answer my questions and calm fears. the best.
His lectures are fun however he gets distracted very easily and goes off-topic which can be frustrating, bc of this i stopped showing up. Regardless he is really kind and deeply cares about his students doing well. He says his slides are enough to pass the course, but after having him for micro and macro, reading the textbook is equally important.
I think Kam put a ton of time and effort into converting his standard lecture course into an online course because it felt far less puzzle pieced together than other courses. The lectures are 120 minutes with a break, recorded and on D2L right after class. Lectures were fun and lively. Kam has a ton of energy.
this guy needs a podcast. he has so many good takes on life and economics. i think all of the students would listen to him. i know he is on the radio but a podcast would be uncensored and allow him to be himself. he is very inspirational and positive about life.
the man is a freakin' legend in canada. he's about the smartest person i have ever heard and having him as a professor was an honour and a privilege.
The Jewish GOAT
i wish we could have been in person this year. it would have been fun to have the group we did for 204 in person where we could have gotten to know each other. kam did his best to make the class seem small and intimate but its hard when cameras were off. he is very funny and laid back and knows the material like the back of his hand.
VERY kind and lenient, professor. Wished his lectures were in person because they were very engaging, and he has a clear passion and knowledge for the course. Lectures were very useful; he always fully explained concepts and provided many examples. He truly wants the best for his students, and I would take any course with him again.
Dr. Kam is a really nice prof. He is really passionate about economics and he is very good at teaching as well. Only 3 test and a couple MyLab homework assignments. Easy A.
He's alright. He explains concepts well but just talks so much about his personal life that the lecture could be an hour shorter.
ECN 104 and ECN 204 are very challenging. Kam is a gifted, inspiring, positive, motivating, hilarious, caring teacher. I want to take his intermediate courses next year.
looks like everything has already been said but dr. kam just makes you feel important and that what you are learning is important and valuable. nobody is dying to take econ in first year but find me a student who isn't thrilled they took it with him.
watch him on d2l, catch him on the radio, listen to him on zoom, the man is a serious legend in the world of economics. great course. actually sad to see it end.
Super fun and a great professor. Even though the course material itself wasn't easy, Dr. Kam made it fun and not too difficult to learn.
Kam's offers a human touch to economics. He gives examples from his private life. This made me feel more prepared than any other class. Kam's teaching goes beyond the material.
the course would be harder if we were in person because the tests may not have all been multiple choice. kam is as advertised. he is fun. he loves to teach students economics and get to know us as people. some people think he talks to much about his wife and kids but I didn't mind as it helped keep the class lively.
professor kam said each of us has the ability to change the world. he changed my world but convincing me that economics didn't have to be boring and mathematically intensive. i would take anything he teaches.
courses with kam are always an event. the lectures are kept short because they are online. you do 60 minutes, a break and then another hour of online. all lectures are live, nothing pre-done, and sent to brightspace after class. this caused attendance to be super low at times but that didn't matter to those of us who showed.
i thought his off topic chatter was annoying, not fair as he only spoke to students who had cameras turned on during lecture. then i figured it out. his class is theatr, students are spectators. rather than fight it, i turned on my camera and joined the show and never looked back. wish i had him for more courses.
By far the best professor I had in all the courses that I have taken so far. Very engaging with the students, he is hilarious, and he is an overall fair professor. The course isn't easy, but he makes the content bearable and enjoyable. Only 2 tests and several homework assignments, and the slides and his notes will do just the job.
Best prof. at TMU. I take him for every class available. He explains what the chapter presents and tosses in informative and useful explanations. Good examples, great relevant stories, Kam makes you understand the topic truly in a hilarious manner.
The course was not terrible in terms of workload but you do have an online mylab economics quiz per textbook chapter. The lectures are short and lively with lots of discussion. I liked the course and I liked the professor a lot. Like others I will take more courses with Kam if possible.
I am certain this course would have been very different in person. We had multiple choice tests. This would not be the case in person. Dr. Kam's lectures are two hours long, recorded onto D2L, which made it very easy to come to class or watch the lectures at my convenience.
Dr. Kam is an incredible professor and is passionate about what he is teaching. The best prof I've had.
this prof is awesome!!! material is not interesting, but he makes the class exciting as it can be. awesome guy
Such a wonderful prof. He explains confusing concepts in a casual and effective way that students will be able to relate to. Textbook was an absolute life-saver, with simple explanations and diagrams that got the main point across. Quizzes, tests and exams were similar to the MEL Study Plan on MyEconLab so lots of time to practice. HIGHLY rec!
Truly an AMAZING professor, highly recommend him to everyone no matter what major you want. He truly cares about his students and has goes far out of his way to set students up for future success. Take for 104 and 204 in first year if you can.
Super Understanding and explains things in a simple way. Always makes class fun so going to class was never dreadful.
This is guy is honestly amazing. He shows up for lecture with a nutty amount of energy for 9am, and it never decreases. All he wants is for us to understand more about how economics effects our lives, or as he said, "not to tell you what to think because you are all adults."
Kam creates a very lively lecture experience and you don't quite know what to expect. He plays music before class. He talks about his family and friends. The work is hard but lecture is fun and short.
That he treats us like adults. That he does what he says. That he makes class fun. That he makes fun of himself. That he knows a lot about economics
He is a great person, hilarious and entertaining. His lectures are interactive and he places great emphasis on important concepts. However, he spends more time joking around in class rather than teaching. He doesn't do enough examples in class and a lot of the things on the mylabs are not taught in class properly.
You don't realize how good he is until you are no longer in his course. Short and well paced lectures, Kam only teaches what gets tested, and provides you with his PP slides with his notes. If you do poorly, you aren't trying. #truth.
when i got to uni everybody said not to expect profs to care. kam cares more than any high school teach ever did. he wants you to succeed in his course - gives you slides and notes and practice tests. cant ask for more.
dear all uni professors at TMU. can you please care about your students as much as professor kam? i'm in my 2nd uni year and i have never seen a professor care as much about his students and answers emails immediately all day, all night, all weekend.
the best of the best. tmu has lots of good instructors but kam is beyond. makeup tests for i.t. screw ups, practice tests. if it has his name beside a course you should take it because he is the prof you will talk about years from now.
Amazing prof! He cares enough to answer emails asap unlike others! He takes his time to make sure you understand and aren't left behind! He doesn't put you down when asking questions and encourages students to ask! He actually cares about his students! I will definitely take his class again!
TMU is known for having good teachers and this one is the best and my favourite.
kam is nothing short of performance art. i'm sorry people in class would rathar talk and miss his points. a very good professor inside and outside of the theatre. he's really helpful and responds to email all day and night.
i took micro as an elective to my major program and it was great. i learned about a new avenue from somebody passionate about his topic. no complaint.
not going to repeat what everybody else has said about prof kam. but i want to say one thing about his email policy. not one of my other profs writes back at night or on the weekend. not one. kam writes back early in the morning or late at night or on weekends or on holidays. i wish my other profs would learn how to treat students who need help.
such a great prof! his class is the only one where the lectures were always filled with people because everyone wants to come to his class. lectures always ended an hour early than expected run time and he made sure to explain things clearly so everyone understands. he made economics an interesting and entertaining topic. take him if you can!!
such a sweet man. at the end of the class he told us a story that made me cry. hope to have him again for more courses but if not thank you dr. kam.
Amazing professor, very accessible outside of class, and is not too tough while grading.
One of the best profs at TMU
He explains the concepts very well and will always repeat if someone asks a question. He is caring, hilarious, makes the class entertaining and overall an amazing professor. He always ends the lecture early too. Definitely recommend this professor.
Funny. Classes are shorter than 3 hours. Although the class wasn't super easy, it was manageable. Just make sure to take notes!!
best online course ever. i know some people were happy in the inperson class but kam made the online experience amazing. short lectures with loads of interaction between the prof and the students. we had practice tests and mylabs that made the exams easier.
best of the best of my first year courses. no question this dude loves to teach as much as he says he does. the tests are tough but we are given lots of practice and clues that help. mylab is easy. just make sure you don't skip and take good notes.
he's really entertaining and keeps explaining until he's sure we grasped the topic
i got kam for econ204 after having him for econ104 and i couldn't be happier. his class was amazing, funny, passionate and boundary pushing.
Mr. Kam is by far the best prof I ever had. His lectures are HILARIOUS and he's always encouraging his students to email him 24/7 if they ever need anything. Midterms and finals were fair and the mylabs are a huge mark booster so be sure to do them. A really good prof. If there's a spot available in any of his classes, take it! You won't regret it.
don't be fooled by having an amazing prof like prof kam this course is no joke. the mylab assignments are easier than the tests but the tests and final exam are tough. i took it online but friends did in person.
10/10 would recommend! He does a really good job at keeping long lectures interesting!
rambles about unnecessary things never gives feedback, never organizes your grades on D2L; no idea what your grade is he closed the brightspace class early, no access to the course/assignment no access to the study material when it comes to preparing for exams unprofessional his emails are always out of context, unprofessional, irrelevant and weird
It is a little sad to think I will never meet this man in person and get to thank him because I only saw his online lectures. Both ECN 104 and 204 teach you important concepts related to how the economy works. More importantly, Kam really helps you learn how to think like an economist and make decisions for yourself.
Great prof. Very funny and explains thoroughly. his class was engaging af.
he doesn't just say he loves teaching. he actually loves to teach. he gives us every thing we need to succeed to the point that if you screw up this course you must have tired to do poorly. always smiling. always happy to be in front of a lecture hall.
kam is the only professor who actually listens to the students and responds and tries to make our lives a little better by changing up the course. i play university sports and when i ask for accomodations to make games, i am told no by all profs except kam. he let me write makeups. i wish more profs cared.
G.O.A.T.
He is a great prof who is very passionate towards his students
AMAZING! NO WORDS!! He is the GOAT. The only regret I have is getting up at 530am to get to school for his 8am class. Kam almost makes it worth the commute.
Dr Kam has literally done the impossible as I look forward to lecture each week and it's worth getting up in the middle of the night at 5am just to get to campus. Econ isn't for me in the long run *that's an econ joke* but that's no reflection on this talented and very motivating teacher.
i had kam in person for 104 and now online for 204. i dont' know which way is my favourite as i have loved them both. the mylabs are simple, the midterms are average and the final is tough. keep up wtih the mylab and the course material. the final is in person closed book. great prof.
i had kam for 104 204 online and it has been great. some people don't like hearing stories about his family but i think it makes the time pass quicker. lectures are short fun and entertaining. good experience best in first year.
BEST PROF EVER!! HE is extremely caring and is very knowledgable
an honour to have had this professor for intro macro and micro this year. thanks prof kam for having our backs and not wasting our time and money by putting premade lectures online. the best of the best.
THE BEST PROF EVER! Will respond to your emails whenever and overall a very nice prof! His lectures are great and engaging as well!
i think every university student should have to take one economics course and that course should be taught be eric kam. the course runs at a good pace where short lectures and a long break help to break up the monotony of a usual class. his stories are funny but if you actually listen he is teaching economics from his life experiences.
An average professor. His online teaching can be distracting as he frequently goes off-topic. The online midterm was fair, but the in-person closed-book final was difficult. Do very well on the midterm and MyLab quizzes to take some pressure off for the final.
two things. the course is difficult and meant for serious students. if you arent prepared to do the work you'll get a C. kam, on the other hand, is a treasure and teaches the course with everything he has. such a great experience inclass and online as i did both. great prof.
Dr. Eric Kam is one of the best profs ever! TMU should be ashamed to not give Dr. Kam a raise. He is a treasure. He should be teaching Harvard
i would rather have gotten into the in person section with kam but the online version was good. we had short 2 hour lectures with a short break. kam is full of energy and excitement for what usually is a pretty boring class. take him if you can for 104 204.
Eric Kam is truly the best professor I have encountered in my first year of university. From day one he made it very clear that he was passionate about the course and teaching. He makes sure that we actually understand what he teaches and takes the time to explain if we don't understand. He makes jokes and conversations that keep the class engaged.
Professor Kam is an amazing prof. He makes the lectures really engaging and hes super funny. Takes his time teaching difficult concepts instead of rushing through the course. Take this prof!!
His lectures were the perfect balance of funny and actual content, he explained concepts very well and repeated as many times as the class needed. Understanding of personal circumstances. Replies to as many emails as you send him, whenever you send them, including any questions about course content. Always pick professor kam over all other options.
took macro online and micro in person both with kam this year. i liked the in person better but both were great courses. friends had other teachers and they got screwed.
not much to add. he wins teaching awards and they are deserved. he keeps you entertained but you can tell econ means everything to him. some people don't like the stories in between the material but i did. broke up what could have been really boring.
if you can - take ECN with Kam online. i did one course online, one course in person, and i really liked the online section better. you get the same as being in person plus you get his lecture notes with scribbling all over it. makes studying easy. do mylabs.
don't ever miss class. kam goes thru the slides slowly and carefully but if you want to really get the course you need to be there which isn't easy at 8am. showing up early is tough but at least class is fun and only two hours of teaching. the tests are tough, the mylabs are simple. i loved prof kam.
kam is the best online or in person. get into his section if possible for 104/204. friends liked Rahman too but Kam is the gold standard (macro joke).
kam is super smart and funny to listen to in lecture. you can also hear him on the radio and he lets students go on the radio with him. it's a different experience but a good one.
people should know this is a difficult first-year course. there are a lot of things due in the course if you add up mylabs, tests, and a final. people sign up for kam because he's funny and keeps his classes short - but know you are expected to work really hard. excellent course all things considered and kam emails all day and all night.
dude belongs in the PHOF. hall of fame. great lecturers, great course, difficult but fair exams, most responsive prof. ever. email him and he email you back 247.
Best prof I've ever had. Answers emails 24/7, makes his lectures entertaining, would end lectures early, helped us understand the concepts well. He truly cares about his students. It's a difficult course, but he does everything he can to make it easier and help us succeed. Definitely take him if you can, his classes always fill up quick.
Had Kam for 104 online and it was amazing. best course in first year. want to take his 204 but they are both wait list right now. section 3, 4. if you are going to drop please do it quickly so we can join.
runs a great course. had him last year for intro micro/macro and you were never bored. try and be his helper in class, you get special treatment. responds to email in minutes. gives you notes and notes and notes and sends more email than any prof should but it helps. he makes you feel connected to learning.
He is a great professor and he gives amazing lectures while being very in-touch with students of our age.
At first I thought he was trying to hard to be energetic and funny but now I get that its just him. Kam is very likeable because he cares about the material and his students. he just wants to show us why economics is important and worth knowing. His is funny.
haven't had a test yet but the mylab are fair and the lectures are fun.
not an easy course but a good course compared to other first year TRS courses. the workload is manageable and the quizzes are easy. tests are challenging but the midterm is online. worried about the final which is in-person. if you take kams course prepare to have your inbox filled with course emails.
took 104 with kam and then 204 a few years later. great lecturer. the classes are shorter than most and yet you cover more material than most. good guy. emails all day and all night. would suggest.
Amazing professor, was clearly very knowledgeable in the course content and delivered it well with excellent lecture slides. Also makes himself very accessible for help outside of class through emails.
Love this guy
Dr. Eric Kam is very nice, well-versed and passionate about his teachings. He makes his lectures fun and the content very understandable while also providing graphical annotations for the lecture materials. The material is relatively straightforward as long as you understand how each action leads to each effect.
THE GOAT DO GOAT THINGS. amazing course. Should be required for all student not just TRS.
I hope before uni is over i have another course where the prof cares about the topic and his students as much as kam. nobody else seems to offer pp slides, lecture slides, slides with notes on them, recorded lectures and practise tests.
Great course with a great professor. Keep in mind the only way you acheive a great mark in this class would be to participate and attend every lecture as content is reviewed heavily during class hours. Always avaliable for email. ** Keep in mind that this prof will never be doing online tests again after this semester due to "online resources"
Kam is the best and I am one of the people who told on the cheaters. He gives us an online test, open book with no lockdown browser and people still cheat? This guy is just the best prof at TMU and I would take anything he teaches.
Great prof and he really cares about economics. He shares recorded lectures and annotated slides, something barely anyone does. Only thing is that he spends a lot of time talking about stuff other than economics and that takes up a good chunk of time. And no more online exams in the future so keep that in mind
Professor Kam is always available via email to answer questions, he is the goat take him, also my labs are based of his lectures
He is a brilliant man and a great professor. While at times the content ranges from simple to medium to difficult to comprehend, Kam brings with it a refreshing sense of relevance, humour and enthusiasm.
The best professor i have ever had at TMU. Course isn't hard if you have some math background. He is a genuine, totally devoted professor. Watching him ramble on happily about interest rates makes studying economics all the more enjoyable. I will miss this class so much.
my favourite prof at tmu as well. i like the short classes and funny personal stories. he teaches macro through theory graphs math and real world stories about his wife and kids. he is very inspirational and funny. i will have him again before i leave.
Teaches the content really well. He is super funny and really cares about the content, but the course itself is challenging to understand and the exams are difficult. If I had to pick a prof for this course it would be him.
Great Teacher, clear examples. He is one of the few teachers that really get excited when teaching and still has passion. Friendly and very helpful.
The course is fun but the tests are hard. Be prepared to work a lot on mylabs, tests and a hard inperson final exam. I think people take Kam because he has a rep for being funny and nice and thats true but remember the course is tough.
Taking The course right now. Kam is A good way To spend two hours. we have assignments and mylabs and a final. A lot of work in six weeks but if you have to take it Kam is the best. Looks like wolf blitzer on cnn. Had him for 204 too always a very energetic clear speaker who is funny.
LOVE THIS MAN! i'm not econ major and was scared to take 301. Kam makes it manageable and fun. Daily emails are always funny and informative. You never feel left behind because he tells you everyday what you did, what you are doing, what is coming next.
Best prof ever!
One of the best profs I've ever encountered. His lectures are fun, short and informative. As long as you pay attention to the lectures you will do great. He's very caring and wants whats best for his students. Highly recommended!
This was the second course I took with Dr. Kam. He's a great professor and his lectures are always easy and to the point. He always responds to emails right away. He doesn't joke when he says "Email me 24/7".
took intermediate macro with kam online in may june. great course. short concise lectures. tests are tough but fair. course is also interesting with theory and real world apps.
Extremely knowledgeable and always available to help...He knows what he is talking about. I learned "A LOT" in his class....One of the BEST professors in the department of economics...
Outstanding Professor, clear examples, fair and patient, funny and helpful, always upbeat, loves economics, loves teaching. He is one of the few teachers that really get excited when teaching and still has passion. Friendly and very helpful.
Dr. Kam is THE BEST. Work includes easy-to-understand textbook readings, weekly mylab quizzes, and fair tests all incredibly straightforward and interesting. Lots of good feedback and conversation in class. I looked forward to his Zoom lectures every week. Highly recommend.
Kam's 204 class is a great experience. The lectures are engaging, and he makes the content enjoyable. While the material can be challenging, his teaching style and support make it manageable. Attending class and using the resources he provides are key to success.
The class is actually a hard one especially in just six weeks. You need to read the textbook, review key concepts, do the mylabs quizzes just to have a good understanding of the material in the tests and exams. Kam is a sensational lecturer who cares a lot about his students but you do need to go to class.
Dr. Kam is one of those teachers you should go out of your way just to take a class he teaches. Great teacher and all around human being. Given the nature of the class, if you don't study and go to class, you won't do well. He is more concerned with actual learning.
This guy is one of the best profs ever. Explains everything really well, and answers all questions. He really cares about the students and tries to help you out. Go to his lectures. Tests are tough but good if you studied!
If you are in 1st year econ @ TMU, TAKE KAM FOR ECN 204. I had an amazing experience. He is honestly passionate about what he teaches and he is willing to answer a large range of questions. The course has a lot of online quizzes. Pay attention to them and the lectures and you will do well. The kindest prof on the planet.
He is an amazing prof. Very approachable, clear and fair. The course was rather difficult, but he always explained everything very well and made things easy to understand. Definitely one of the best professors I've ever had. Hope to take 301 with him in the future. So nice and understanding. Offers extra help all day.
I wasn't interested in economics until I attended his lectures. I still have no interest in economics but he was an awesome teacher!
One class in and dawgs my fave already. Respect.
he was so amazing, no complaints whatsoever. he values students and actually cares to get to know you.
My favourite prof!
A blessing truly! Probably the best prof you will ever have. Definitely take him if you can, I really enjoyed being in his class
this guy is the real deal. emails everyday about the course. keeps in touch. wants us to email him. i wonder if he has this much patience for his wife and kids as he does with his students. a rare find at TMU.
His course is pretty tough, but he's a great prof, actually funny, and seems like he actually likes to teach and help students, his final exam is pretty tough, but I definitely didn't study hard enough lol. attend his lectures and study hard and you'll do good.
Man Eric was a cool guy and his class was pretty easy. If you have him as you're prof you should be good he does a good job actually teaching the course. But as nice as he was I'll never forgive him for being a dolphins super fan. Squish the Fish
he's just a silly goofy guy, big yapper, good teacher!!
Great Prof !! Super chill and funny
W professor
Def. Skibidi Sigma! If all profs cared as much as Kam, I would have my uni experience much less.
excellent professor in 204 macro. the mylab are easy and the midterm was very fair. the lectures are fun and short. kam really cares about his students. emails everyday. sigma.
Kammy is the best teacher at TMU. I am in 3rd year and decided to take his course. Great short lectures. Funny and engaging. Treats students with respect and bends the rules to benefit students when necessary. Great model for a course and an instructor.
A very respectable professor. He often explains the more difficult concepts during his lectures, and will generally make things easier for you if he can. I recommend you select him as your professor when available.
A dedicated prof who always puts students first. He cares about student success and students feel valued. He has a passion for teaching, he inspires critical thinking and a love to learn.
Super funny guy and great at teaching. As long as you do your assignments, show up and study you should be more than good for this class. He does send lots of emails though….
Truly one of the greatest, no prof cares more than Eric Kam, his lectures are unmatched and he is hilarious and so caring, and he's quite literally always there for all his students and cares a great deal for their success.
One of the most honest, caring, and just the literal best out there. In my entire academic career, I have never met another prof or teacher as caring as Dr.Eric Kam, words cannot explain how enjoyable his class is, you quite literally need to take it to understand. Keeps the same energy entire semester and always helpful. Gonna miss the lectures...
10/10 best prof at tmu
If I could take this class again once more, or somehow replicate the authenticity of the lectures throughout all my other ones, i would. There is no equal to how amazing his lectures are, and I believe he is the absolute best professor to teach. ever.
LEGEND LEGEND LEGEND. I am going to miss class more than any I could take in uni for the rest of my life. Thank you so so so much, Dr Kam. Your economics and life lessons made me smarter. I will take more of your courses.
Dr. Kam is a professor you'll want to take again. His material is easy to follow, he answers questions clearly in class, and replies to emails quickly since he doesn't hold office hours. He's also very fair—he boosted our MyLab grades and dropped our 3 worst ones. If you get the chance to take him, do it. You won't regret it.
Kam is exceptional, knowledgeable, inspiring and committed to student success. His passion for teaching shines in each lecture, makes complex topics clear, always approachable and supportive, a remarkable educator.
Incredible Prof, one of the best at TMU easily. only complaint is that his final exam is pretty hard, but his course in general is just difficult. However he's super helpful, makes lectures interesting, and the material he provides is amazing. Cares about students and super nice and funny, take him if you can he's awesome
Kam has a lot going on in that head. He's patient, smart, funny, effective, helpful, and a happy go lucky prof. He has many perspectives on macroeconomics and is very encouraging and motivating.
Most Amazing prof ever! I wish I can have him for all my classes. He always responds to emails, and never seems bothered by questions. I really enjoyed his classes, and I really recommend his classes!!
Greatest of all time, take Kam.
Very kind professor super chill prof
he is very chill but sometimes can be very blunt and can talk a little too much
Dr. Kam is amazing! His lectures are engaging and he was always accessible via email and available for appointments. You could tell he genuinely cared about his students and the success of everyone in the class. Great class, short lectures, lively and fun, and if you pay attention and understand the homework you will succeed.
He actually cares about students succeeding and the final exam was chill
I am not going to comment on those racist posts. Kam is the absolute GOAT of teaching economics. Amazing course. Nobody cares more than this guy. Sad the course is over, it was an honor and an experience being in his macro class.
Did any of these racists ever come to class? I never missed one lecture. Let me tell you racists what he discussed in class. Football, his wife, his kids, and economics. Never once did he bring up the middle east or politics. He never attacked your religion or background or anything so why are you attacking his religion. Shame on you.
Eric Kam is a great professor. He teaches well and responds to emails very fast. However, I believe his racist LinkedIn posts are very odd, and especially with teaching students of all races and religions, can be very controversial.
BEST PROF EVER! He's super passionate about teaching, and is easily accessible too with his email anytime policy! Actively took steps to make the course more manageable with his humor and extra study resources. Only criticism is that I wish he gave us the tougher testbank questions to study from to better prepare us, but still, he's the best prof!
Funny professor and makes dry content interesting/fun to learn because of his enthusiasm.
Very good prof overall. During the lectures he makes sure everyone understands the material before moving on. He makes tough material easy to understand. Made me actually want to pay attention to an online lecture. Would definitely suggest taking his courses.
Eric Kam is an amazing prof! He made online lectures way more enjoyable with his humor and energy. He genuinely wants his students to succeed. ECON has a few formulas to memorize, but Kam explains things clearly. Highly recommend taking him if you get the chance!
Dr. Kam is one of the best professors I've had so far!! I highly recommend going to his classes as he makes them very engaging and simplifies concepts for better understanding. Would take another course with him if I could.
Such a kind instructor and a fine person. Kam's course is actually fun to take and I hope there are more available in the years to come. The final exam was tough but he adjusts marks, and dropped our lowest 3 mylabs. So, here are the downsides to a course taught be Kam: its over too fast.
Eric Kam is such an amazing professor. I was slacking off most of the course and did not do the midterm or a single homework. I should have failed but in the end I emailed him, and he still passed me based on my finals performance. He is really fair and forgiving.
He's one of the best profs I've had at TMU. He made the midterm (35%) from in-person → lockdown online → open-book online. His lectures are fun but the course content can be boring. He encourages you to email him 24/7 and also responds to your emails quickly. Would I take him again? No, because he only teaches economics 😭. GOAT!!
got nothing new to add. bro is carrying the econ department, absolute must take. max aura gigachad
he is the best professor
kam dropped wrestling lines on tv on election night. "if you wanna be the man, you gotta beat the man" (RF). kam is the man. GOAT.
The lectures was so fun, the way it was explained made it easier than learning micro. The questions for weekly assignments were easy to understand and various resources were given to be successful in the course. The final was a little tricky, but if you use the slides, then your fine for the midterm and final.
he's not only just a professor. he is also a kind human being. He is always helping people to succeed. He will never put you down for asking a question. I wish he was my professor for every course every semester If there is any award for best professor I hope he wins it
Amazing prof. Responds to emails in 2 SECONDS. Very caring and wants to know what's going on in his students' lives. Very entertaining lectures and makes semi-confusing concepts very easy.
Eric Kam is TMU's best professor. From day 1, he was a kind, funny, and relatable professor. He is always available to be contacted 24/7 and replies promptly. He is always willing to do what he can to help improve the grades of all his students and always makes complicated material seem easy. No better prof than Dr. Eric Kam!!!
If you email Dr. Kam for an answer, he answers. Ask a question in class? He answers. Have a problem and you need a special accommodation? Ask him. I have been at RU/TMU for a while and he is/was my favourite professor. Others have said it. I didn't even like economics and I looked forward to his lectures. An experience.
Kam is the best econ prof at TMU. He explains theories in a way clear and enjoyable. Lectures are energetic and he genuinely cares about students. Kam's passion for teaching makes dry topics interesting. He's supportive and willing to help out of class. If you want to understand economics, take his course. 10/10 professor.
Dr. Kam is the BEST economics professor at TMU. No one cares more about student success. He makes sure everyone understands the material, and is available for help. His lectures are fun and short and examples make macro make sense. He wants you to do well. If you get the chance, take his class.
Best econ prof at TMU! Explains tough macro topics with patience. Always willing to give second chances and provides tons of helpful practice questions. You can tell he truly cares about students learning and doing well. Take this class if you get the chance!
Prof Kam is one of the most organized and clear instructors. He explains concepts in a way that's easy to understand and no exam surprises. Exams are fair and based on lecture material, which really helps with preparation. He is quick to respond to emails and genuinely cares about helping students. Highly recommend.
Kam is exceptional and makes econ engaging. His knowledge is vast, he breaks hard concepts into easy explanations. He teaches critical thinking and how to link theory to the real-world. Lectures are paced perfectly, he is always willing to help in and out of class. He genuinely cares. Exams are tough but fair.
I have never left a bad rating for a prof until I had Professor Kam. He misguided us for the final, advising us to do practice questions (nothing like the difficulty of the final) and said we dont need a calculator (there was calculus), I studied my hardest like others and most of us barely passed. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF U CARE ABOUT YOUR GPA.
Great prof! Short, clear lectures with plenty of time to finish online assignments. Never rushes lectures or his answers to student questions. Explains concepts well. Final was not terribly challenging if you came to class. Lots of exam practice questions, and he curved the course grades. Highly recommend!"
Dr Kam is one of the most engaging and supportive instructors I've had the pleasure of learning from. I don't care for Economics much, but he made the class enjoyable. The class was easy to follow. Final and Mid Term were manageable if you attended the lectures. He responds to emails right away, regardless if he has the answer or not.
There is something ironic about the ratings for Kam, nobody has commented on it yet. Many people call him the G.O.A.T. for economics teaching. He is, but that's not the point. The point is this: the G.O.A.T. is something people call Tom Brady who won 7 SBs. Kam loves the Dolphins so by definition hates the Patriots and Brady.
The course is tough online but Kam makes your experience okay. MyLabs are easy, easy way to go into the final with 90. The final is hard but he sends out practice. Do them. Doesn't lie to students. He adjusts the final marks to get the class average to a 70. By the way, his wife is Dana, and that will get you a mark on the final.
Im convinced 99% of these positive reviews are bots cause his final exam for 301 was so bad that he had to curve it, not to mention 90% of final questions were nothing like practice or review... It should tell you more than enough that his past 204 course had a final avg of 35%... AVOID if you care about your GPA!!
ECN204 student here. You are allowed your opinion but your data is wrong. The average on the final exam for my 204 class that just finished was 48% and the average for the entire course was 70%. That 35% number is fantasy.
Kam is one of the best instructors. Knowledgeable, organized, and cares about student success. Lectures are fun and short, hard topics easier to understand. He's responsive to questions in class and outside. Mylabs are fair. Put in the effort and do well. Recommend taking any course he teaches. A rare professor who makes a difference.
Great prof, answers all students questions
I enjoyed CECN301 with Kam. This course was an elective and he made it fun. Lectures are great and grading is fair. He emails a lot to keep you informed and writes back quickly. He was understanding and always taught with a smile and good humour.
I would take every course taught by Kam. His knowledge of economics and public policy is insane. He is always on the radio talking about economics. Super funny. Super nice.
He's alright, sometimes he goes on tangents and talks about things that are super irrelevant or over-explains something a lot, which can get really boring, but other than that, he's fine. doesnt go super in detail about the math concepts tho which sucks and his exams are nothing like the practice imo.
An outstanding professor whose deep understanding of economics shows in his ability to turn complex ideas into clear, accessible lessons. His lectures are so engaging that students from other sections regularly attend, often filling every seat and even sitting on the stairs and floor to hear him teach.
Best professor ever. Genuinely my favourite professor in uni so far. Full stop. Lectures are engaging, he's a great speaker, and the assignment guidelines and expectations are always clear. He's friendly and accommodating and offers extensions no questions asked. Take this class.
in a sea of terrible professors at TMU eric kam is one of the few that stand out this man is a textbook example of an amazing professor some people hate him because of his jewish background which is absurd but the only flaw i can say about my boy eric is that his classes are online only which kinda sucks
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! My favourite professor at TMU so far. His lectures are engaging, he's a great, funny, motivating speaker, he's accommodating and just take his class!
Had him 3 years ago (I know, long overdue review). His final exam was hell. But still giving him a 5/5 rating in quality because he's a big fan of Pierre Poilievre.
Extremely friendly and personable guy and a great prof. He teaches and answers questions well, and the exams were not difficult as long as you study. Many people received poor grades on the final because they used AI the entire semester (on the online quizzes and midterm) so don't do that. pay attention in class, do the weekly hw, and study well
