If you can avoid him then do so. He grades very tough. If you arent ready to turn in a paper written in the likeness of an english major then don't expect an A. Very strict on participation and will give surprise assignments and pop quizzes.

Hands down the worst prof I've had. He makes this class so unnecessarily hard. Exam and quiz questions are extremely specific

worst teacher i have met by far. very inconsiderate towards his students. asks student's for their concerns just for the sake of asking so that he can say he did the bare minimum but does not act upon it. Don't take this professor. Avoid taking class with him if you can. He grades really hard for no reason. I never met a public health professor who is not good at all. He can't teach at all. His exam questions are confusing. I would rather take exam in class instead of at home with the webcam on.

he does not know how to teach. his explanations are not clear. u can understand the concept from the TA but the reality is that the professor makes his own question not the TA, so the wording is just as disorganized. makes multiple mistakes in class and does not listen to student concerns. very tricky with his tests and will destroy your grade.

This is the worst prof I have had. He is a terrible lecturer, the only way you learn is from the book. Its basically a hybrid class because you take every quiz and test on canvas, and he leaves no time to do it in class. He has no idea how to run a class, lecture, or use iClicker. DO NOT TAKE. It will be miserable.

this professor doesn't complete one thought at all. he is very all over the place. you have to turn in your homework before you are taught on the topic. then when you go to class to learn the topic, you leave more confused then before. gives you tedious iclickers and assignments. anything he says he does to "help your grade" really doesn't.

Teaching is not his calling. He is not good at explaining things and is easily irritated. Attendance is mandatory for his class but all the assignments are due before the topic is lectured. He should just teach online ONLY. Do not take it will not be a pleasant experience. Even if you ace the class his bickering will annoy your soul.

This teacher gives you the chance to voice your opinion and acts like he listens, but then disregards everything you said. He posts 10 minute lectures reading off sides and weekly quizzes are nowhere near the level of the lectures (much more advanced). You have to read the book to succeed. He is unorganized and grades work late. Very uncaring.

If theres a chance, wait or even take epidemiology with another professor. We too, 3 exams in the course including the final. For our first two exams it took him a month to grade each of them. He also changed the syllabus in the middle of the semester. His grading makes no sense and makes a lot of mistakes with grades and has to do a lot to fix thm

Whenever I go to his class, I make sure that I don't wear a seatbelt on the way to campus so that I don't go to his class hoping I die on the way.

He gives good feedback but has a lot of homework and a tough grader. He doesn't grade anything until the end of the semester so you could be failing and not know.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. HE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH AND HIS ASSIGNMENTS ARE SO VAGUE. EXAMS ARE NOTHING LIKE THE STUDY GUIDE . SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS.

By far the worst professor, doesn't answer emails or give good instruction. Do not take this class because he will stress you out. He is not a good lecturer and all he did was talk about COVID. Does not care about your education. If you read the review that he is a good professor that's CAP.

This professor from the bottom of my heart, worst professor I don't care what anyone has to say. He has his whole entire classes grade in the middle of the semester hanging by a thread because of a research question that was literally 2 questions long. He takes forever to grade assignments. The whole semester you literally worried. (Part 1/2).

For about 11 assignments he only put "completed" instead of an actual grade which was unbelievable and not right to do what if these assignments were the barrier between an A- and B+ For the final project he gave me very low grade even though i worked hard on this project will be going to the dean this upcoming spring semester This is unacceptable

One of the worst professors I have ever had at WSU. He leaves grading till the end of the semester. He doesn't explain the essays/project/homework requirements at all, it's like he himself is confused on what we are supposed to do. If you ask a question you won't get a clear answer. Nice but not kind!

Ive never had a worse professor in all my life. Absolutely nothing learned. I would NOT recommend taking a class with him. He is not accessible outside of class, and makes you feel so dumb for asking questions.

He is the last professor that is available outside of class. Assignments are so confusing for no reason. They don't even make sense that when you try to ask him to reiterate directions he starts to confuse you even more. I feel bad bc he should not be teaching.

You have to submit your notes, and I got accused of plagiarism. He does not care about helping you out, when I showed him how I did the notes he said he would look at my assignment and never did again. Super tough grader

He doesn't have a single effective teaching strategy. His assignments are never shorter than an hour long. It's an easy course with easy material but he's a difficult professor. I don't understand why he makes it so complicated for no reason. Every time we would ask him a question, he would leave us with more than we started with. Unclear & sloppy.

The snarkiest and messiest professor ever. He does not teach. He stutters the question from homework the night before and looks at you for 5 minutes while the room is silent then proceeds to be upset when no one can answer. Obviously no one can when you make absolute ZERO sense. WSU, FIRE HIM!!!!

Every class period (2x/ week) there is a quiz and/or activity which is graded. How do you expect us to come to EVERY SINGLE CLASS. It is impossible especially when he is a complete mess and does not have a single idea on how to teach. This class should be asynchronous first of all, second of all it is not a hard class he just made it terrible.

Not accessible at all outside of class; snarky, rude, and odd. He also uses a lockdown browser for 2 exams and a final.

The class itself and the material is not hard, but him as a professor is terrible. He does NOT know how to teach. He barely makes sense during class and lectures and all the things he say appear to me as gibberish. He isn't a tough grader, but I just do not think that his teaching skills are good. all other ratings were accurate so ima use this for tips. do super well in class so u get to miss the last 3/4 weeks to focus on other classes. he's super nice so it's easy to get on his good side. it's annoying but be ready w notes before each class &look over quizzes for midterms/final cuz questions repeat! Dr. Kessel was kind however he bored the class 2x a week. Unfortunately, he really does not have an effective teaching strategy which caused us to be confused and annoyed for 16 weeks. Every class period is mandatory, quizzes each time, heavy homework. 0/10 class.

He is clear on his expectations from the beginning about attendance and participation, however he does assign lots of time consuming assignments that are just busy work and not super helpful for learning the material. The material itself is not difficult, but his teaching is very unorganized and confusing.

Worst professor of my whole undergrad exp., he's lucky to even be teaching still considering how terrible he is. Doesn't get straight to the point, dont even know what lecturing even is, takes 1 day/topic . "best" way to get an A is reading the book and even that doesn't help. Exams are from his ... lots of hw just busy work that doesn't help.

He is bad at teaching, like he is incompetent at explaining assignments and gets irritated when the class askes for clarification. He is paranoid about AI and his class sections consistently has lower grades that every other section. Don't waste your time at take someone else.

All he does is give you activities in class and BARELY explains how they correspond to the book. Honestly, I think this professor should find a new career.

Professor Kessel gave me PTSD. I did not understand anything the whole semester as it was challenging and very difficult manage. His exams did not make any sense and he did not know what he was talking about.

He is the worst professor in the world. He does not care about students, is disrespectful, and is not professional. He accuses students of cheating, fabrication, and plagiarism. I'm not sure how he's still a professor here. Just avoid him at all cost.

An actual nightmare. I usually don't even leave professors a review but I have to warn people. As someone with good grades across various hard (much harder than this class) science classes, his teaching sucks and tests suck too. He is SO unclear with material and generally always stutters and cannot explain material in an easy to understand way.

There should be a research study on how someone like him is able to stay employed as a professor and how he got his teaching license. Like seriously how is he not fired yet?? Surely the SET reflects his inadequacy?

… If you have issues concerning mental health do not take this class. He is his own toxic relationship in and of itself. Accuses you of cheating, isn't helpful, is verbally awful, and when you leave don't come back.

Just a reminder that you will need a therapist, bible and FWB while taking this class … why is he making a quant class so overly difficult .

Took capstone-Don't recommend takes a week vacation during the semester. Doesn't help students. He is be very unclear on directions doesn't know what he is doing very unorganized.

Don't take capstone class . He doesn't even know what is he doing. His instruction is so unclear. I don't know how wayne is giving him the permission to take class.

Unfortunately, I had to take this professor for Capstone and it was the worst experience. There's no other option to choose from. He'll harshly grade and give no feedback. He doesn't try and help students. He makes lecture mandatory when you're barely doing anything in class and doesn't care that some students drive over an hour to attend.

If you can avoid taking him for capstone, please do. Extremely unclear in his directions but then would grade really harshly. When feedback was given or you ask questions, you somehow are left feeling even more confused than before. Strict on deadlines but then would take ages to grade. Won't respond to emails. Overall a very stressful experience.
