The best professor at Boise State.
Great teacher, and a crackup. Enjoyed his class and learned stuff also. Go figure.
Landrum is the best professor ever! He's way nice, too.
He thought I "cheated the system" on our last paper in Research Methods, though he gave me no time to explain my side. HINT: Do not print in in Multi-purpose lab for his papers or you'll get blamed too!!
nice guy too
This class is a lot easier than his other ones, and he really goes out of his way to explain everything so there's no chance of screwing up.
In my top 5 teachers of all times
States what he means and means what he states. Meaning, do what he tells you and you would be hard pressed to get a bad grade.
Landrum is the most clear and helpful professor I know. He has a step by step teaching style. Going to class is very important because he requires something important due or to be learned just about every day. And on the days that he doesn't...he sometimes gives extra credit. And be on time. Great teacher!
Landrum is an incredible prof. Clearly states class objectives and goals, always willing to help his students, dedicated to teaching and a very intelligent person. Follow his advice and pay attention...you'll learn a lot from him.
Tough stats class, but you would be hard pressed to find a better instructor. Extremely organized, articulate, fair, and practical. Lots of TA's to help out too. Plus Landrum has a great sense of humor, and makes what could be an incredibly boring class, fun. For that, he gets a "hot"!
Should have focused more on class subjects rather than talk about his life. Other than that...not bad.
Attendance is very important for any of Landrum's classes. He does his best to lay it all our for you in an easy to understand and entertaining manner. If you go to class you rarely need to read the book. He always lets you know what he expects from students. He's also got a great sense of humor, though if you're easily offended I'd avoid him.
GREAT professor. Love him.
his notes are perfect! the only time i used my book was for the graphs in the back. He gives you all the formulas and explains everything crystal clear and is always open to any questions.
If you must take Stats 295, you MUST take Landrum's class! If you go to class, do the work and study for your tests, you will do well. He is FUNNY and makes the class fun, which I can't believe I'd say about a math class. He is a wonderful teacher and makes the subject interesting.
Best psychology professor at BSU. Is funny, and as long as you go to class you will do fine.
I was so taken off guard by him. I expected hell from stats and found myself cracking up each class period. He is EXCELLENT! Don't be afraid of this class, look forward to it...it may just become your favorite! Get Landrum he's fantastic.
Great professor would take him again
He really is a great teacher. If you must take a stats course take it with Landrum. I hate math, and i got an A. He makes the expectations clear from the beginning. He grades really fair too. Maybe a little arrogant(in a good way), but then again which professors are not?
Dr. Landrum makes a very difficult class comprehendable. He explains he lessons clearly and he is very entertaining.
Fun class. Makes math easy and comprehendible. If your confident you will get an A will little effort.
He expects a lot from the class but is very fair. I learned much from him.
Awesome teacher. explains exactly what he wants and grades fair. he is very helpful and he's funny. loved the class def. would take him again.
He's a very good teacher and enjoys what he does. Attendence is mandatory, if you miss more that 3 days you have to re-take it again next semester. Assignments are straight forward and easy. This class is just basically an information class. You don't have to have the book, good reference though.
Dr. Landrum is one of the best teachers I have ever had. His class is hard, but he is funny and very willing to help you succeed.
He's funny and applies the lesson to the student's life. One test online a week no other assignments.
HE IS AWESOME.HE MAKES YOU LAUGH AT LEAST 6 TIMES DURING A CLASS AND MAKES YOUR TIME WORTH WHILE.TAKE A CLASS FROM HIM IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
He doesn't take any excuses
Greatest psychology professor I know! For real!
He is awesome! He really makes you think. I loved this class. I thought it was going to be really hard but it turned out to be one of my easiest classes. Go to class! He helps you step by step with the statistics, which is really helpful! I wish I could take Landrum for all my Psych classes!
If and when you take Psych 321 please be aware that Landrum is a very detail oriented person. Every comma, phrase and word can count against you if it's out of place. He is very helpful and friendly. Attend every class and keep up with all your assignments. And seek the TA's help as much as possible and use his office hours.
This will sound odd, but I don't think Landrum is very current in psych research. Sure, he is funny and easy. But I didn't find that these two things were very important when I'm more interested in psych research. I guess I'd suggest him for an easy A and a laugh during class. But learning much about CURRENT psych research? No. No.
I loved this professor. He does not require you to attend his class but it would not be smart to skip them! His lecture covers half the material for the week and then the rest you get from reading your book.Weekly quizzes are the life saver. He is a funny guy and he is passionate about his subject! By far the best professor to take for this class
Loved this class. It made getting up for a 7:40 class slightly easier. Extremely funny and relaxed atmosphere. 1 quiz a week (half q's from class lecture and half from the text book ch of the week) Quiz is online, then just the final. We used clickers in my class which was fun. Highly reconmend textbook, really important. Overall loved the class :)
Completely HATED this class. Dr.Landrum is one of the most boring professors at BSU. If Psychology 101 is a required course for your major I DO NOT recomment Landrum. Take Kinny instead!
Dr. Landrum is an awesome professor. He is passionate about his teaching and is there to help students. Those that don't seek his help are the ones that don't do as well. He goes the extra mile and will help you regardless if you are in his class or not. I would recommend that you take his classes.
If you are like me and detest statistics, take Landrum. I had taken 2 stats class previously and failed and thought that I would never pass stats. I had taken psyc 120 from Landrum and didn't care for that class or him for that matter, but he is an excellent stats prof no matter what you think of him personally! He makes it VERY comprehendible!!
I am horrible at math and fortunately, this class has nothing to do with math. I absolutely LOVED this class, and really got a kick out of Landrum. He is a great guy, knows what he is talking about and is funny. I would endorse this man 110%, super great guy who really makes the homework & tests simple and easy. Attend class and take notes!
I have taken several classes from Dr. Landrum, and in my opinion he is the best professor in the psychology department. I have never found him cocky as some of you have said, but if he is, he probably has a right to be! Dr. Landrum has a true passion for teaching, and a true interest in his students! His lectures are clear and concise. He is great!
He is involved and passionate. Very good learning experience.
Dr. Landrum is an engaging professor and very knowledgable. He takes the time to listen to his students and help them. Take him! You will learn so much. He also does not issue tests.
He thinks he is really funny but he is way wrong about that. He tells you to do one thing but then grades a different way. He makes you show up to class when there isn't anything to do. He tells you not to use passive voice but then doesn't tell you what that means. Don't take this teacher!!
Flipped his class this semester. Definitely the way to take this class. Landrum expects high quality work for an A. Class is not easy but I learned a lot from Landrum. He offers constructive criticism every step of the way. Do not take it personally, he is trying to help students gain professionally. He is definitely invested in student success.
his class is hard and he is not the nicest person ever.
Was my UF100 lecture teacher and he is very funny! Take him with J. Etter as your discussion leader for an easy A!
Dr. Landrum is an awesome person, although I think he grades a little hard. He is very funny and nice.
Dr. Landrum is really smart and wants his students to learn. He is a tough grader, but gives very specific rubrics. I highly recommend him for research methods.
I took the class online and it was self paced. Because of that it was amazingly easy. There were only 12 assignments worth 1 point each . You can redo them as much as you like till you get the points. He even makes YouTube videos explaining how to do each assignment. Basically just had to make sure everything got done before the semester was over.
Fantastic! Favorite professor ever. Great class organization, no tests. He is big on teaching skills, not having you memorize to spit it back on a test. Timely feedback, friendly, knows what he's talking about, class is fun. He goes over every homework assignment in class before it's due. Gives free pdf of textbook to students! 10 out of 10!
I took his PSYC 120 course and it was the easiest online course I ever took. It's all self paced, so you have to make sure you are disciplined enough to get it done early. You could get in all done in a weekend if you wanted to. Only 12 assignments and 1 project, where you just have to interview someone. You can redo assignments until you pass.
He cares about student's styles of learning. Dr. Landrum helps everyone understand what is required of them for each assignment.
I can honestly say he is my favorite professor yet! I love listening to him and can hardly wait to start my assignments before leaving class. He teaches a very productive method to writing a research paper I love! Life would have been so much easier if I knew his way before! Pay close attention to to detail, he's a stickler on that! Good luck!
This class is different from most, its just 12 online assignments that are all due by the end of the semester. We met on the first class of the semester and never had to go back to class. Pretty easy to pass and if you fail an assignments you can do it over.
Dr. Landrum designed the course for student success. The first lecture explains expectations, keep to your plan. He notices everything. Students just need to be responsible for their learning and the expected badge completion. This course does set the first layer of knowledge for future psych courses. Its hybrid so that was helpful time wise
The class is easy if you follow directions. DO NOT SKIMP ON APA FORMAT! It is a huge deal to him. He truly wants us to get something out of the class, and is a funny guy. He cares deeply about the psyc major and wants to improve it. And Dr. Landrum... here's a permanent chilli pepper for you :)
Dr. Landrum is great at responding to questions and clear as to what he wants, but I find some of the assignments very challenging. For example, even with the resources given I still do not understand APA format which is CRUCIAL for this class.
Great!
Since I had him online he was really accessible. He gives good feedback and you can finish the course very quickly. You can submit the assignments as many times as you need. It is a pass/fail class.
I learned so much from this class. My writing skills improved over the semester, especially APA. You write one big research paper through the semester, but you do it in pieces so you don't have to cram at the end. Do the work and go to his office hours to get an easy A!
I took PSYC 321 with him as well, and can honestly say he cares for his students' success. He wants every student to leave his class with something that will help in the future, like resumes, research experience, etc. He is hilarious, he makes a difficult class manageable.
Set own pace, great, get done early, nit picky things hold you up. Mastery based would be good except for the nit pickiness. With APA, I would have liked to take a C and just let that be averaged in. There is no way to do that in this class. You must finish to his perfection level or fail. Very frustrating class. Would be better not online.
i was very excited about the self paced/mastery based aspect of the course but soon realized it was worse than a normal grading system. You have 15 assignments to turn in and if you get one wrong you fail the class. Professor is very nit picky when grading which can screw you over if you don't get everything done super early.
I did most of my assignments early, last day of the semester I went and made sure I was good. He had commented on every single one of my assignments saying something was wrong with them. the MOST nit-picky grader I have ever had. Was ready to take a fail I was so frustrated. 10/10 don't recommend I've never had a teacher this frustrating
The PSYC 120 class is overall a pretty boring class, just finish all 15 assignments by the end of the semester and pass. Eric was a great professor for it though, he made awesome recommendations for me, and made time for me to talk to him over zoom. Super chill guy!
He doesn't care about his students success at all. He only grades on Saturdays and gives no extra help when you ask for it. I asked for help and he copy and pasted the instructions for the assignment. He talks to students twice throughout the semester and gave no additional help to aiding his students during COVID
Professor Landrum is super funny and friendly. He loves to talk and all of his lectures are just him chatting. Attendance is mandatory, but no textbook or anything. Light work load but he is a super PICKY grader. Very tough on apa format and super small errors. I failed an assignment just because of the mistakes I made in my reference page.
He rarely grades. There are 3 days left of the semester and hes graded maybe 3 of our 12 assignments. Its the last middle finger that BSU could give me before graduation.
While intimidating at first, Dr. Landrum is truly genuine and compassionate. He goes above and beyond to create opportunities to teach, collaborate with, and offer academic guidance to students. Bad reviews are likely from students who failed the class after submitting all 15 assignments last minute with mistakes. The most supportive faculty member
I never got the chance to communicate with him but the class was very easy (pass/fail). There are 15 assignments that are all beyond easy, you just have to get them done in a timely manner because grading takes a while sometimes.
This class consists of 15 assignments all due at the end of the semester so don't leave them until the last minute or you'll fail. He is extremely picky when he grades and the feedback he gives is very unhelpful. Make sure you complete the assignments early because he takes forever to grade as well.
He honestly gave no assignments. There are 10 reflections throughout the year. (They aren't hard and there's no word count) He gives you three main projects spread throughout the semester. It was a super easy class to pass but I learned nothing. Easy class if you're just filling requirement, but not to learn the content. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY.
All the points were attendance, reflections, and 3 projects worth 6,000 points. You don't learn anything and you can't see your grade all semester. He's instructions are confusing, and his lectures are painful, we don't cover any material he just talks about himself the whole time. Don't take this if you're a psych major, you'll be screwed.
This whole class is one big group project that you are graded together on and two test prep guides. The topic was confusing all the way until the end and my group struggled a lot. Landrum is funny and says some out of pocket things but he was an okay professor overall. I wish that we all had separate group grades but the class isn't that hard
Dr. Landrum is a super funny professor who you can tell really cares about his students. There is no textbook or quizzes in this class, however you do read journal articles. If you show up and put effort into the 3 main assignments, you will do great and learn a lot.
My favorite teacher at BSU! He is really funny with his lectures. He teaches about topics that students want to know about and makes it clear. There are also no tests on what he lectures about which is a plus. He has three main assignments through the semester but are fairly easy if you spend a few hours on them and follow the rubric.
Do NOT take this class if you're a psychology major, he doesn't really teach any psychology, his lectures are very useless but kind of entertaining sometimes, he doesn't let you see your grade all semester and attendance is super mandatory.
Great guy, really knows what he is talking about. He is super approachable and caring for his students and their mental health. The class itself is not stressful but can get confusing at times but it all makes sense at the end of the semester when your project gets completed. Def would take him again!!
BEST PROGESSOR EVER! So personable, talks about real life info instead of psych stuff from a book. He is hilarious and I actually wanted to go to class. It is SUPER mandatory to go but he lets you miss 5 classes without docking points. The projects are random but not hard. He would always help if you needed him to. Made the best dad jokes ever.
Unless you're in one of the groups that get to develop the pilot test for the group proj, you won't learn much about psych measurements. Landrum's lectures are about grad school and getting CVs which is completely irrelevant to me and a lot of my classmates. Mandatory attendance made this even more annoying. He is still a great, caring professor.
Dr. Landrum is awesome. His lectures are entertaining and hes got a great sense of humor. I recommend taking him for as many courses as you can. Things can be a bit confusing regarding the semester long group project, but hes accessible outside of class and is available to answer any questions.
He is very unclear & because he is not easily accessible outside of class, it's hard to clarify things. He only has 2 days open for appointments for all his classes, which fill up fast. Assignments are not stated clearly anywhere when asked to clarify; it's not any better. Sometimes, he says, "Refer back to the material" that was being asked about.
Is not computer savvy and does not explain things well at all. Will claim that his assignments are straightforward, but they really are not. Half of the assignment will be based on what is on the page, and then, as the student, you must realize that the other half is for something else, which is located on Canvas somewhere else. Very unorganized!!
I've been in several of Dr. Landrum's classes and by far this was the most exciting one. His lectures are always helpful to the course or helping us develop a career in psychology, and he wants the best for each of his students. I'd highly recommend Dr Landrum for any classes he teaches. Attendance is literally your grade so show up!
