overall a good prof.
Great prof. He is funny, and really knows his stuff. Almost all of the exam material is from his notes, maybe two questions from the textbook. He even posts helpful and interesting videos to help students solidify concepts. He is really approachable and very hellpful when you ask for help or clarifications.
Very boring class, but Legge is a great guy. Go and see him in his office and you'll find him very helpful. He genuinely cares about students and teaching. He's just starting his career right now, so he is pretty eager to establish himself - it shows. I thought this class would be terrible (8am too), but it was much more manageable with Legge.
Legge is a pretty good prof. The course material was boring and straight forward, but he tried to make it as interesting as possible and was pretty funny at times. Tests are super easy!! He gives you tons of choice on which questions to answer, which means you don't have to know 100% of the material. The 2 essays are stupid and a pain, but easy.
if you get the chance to take this proff, DO IT! he is the best one ive had. I really enjoyed going to the 9 am classes, hes overall a great teacher!!
I was very interested in this course before and I liked it even more than I thought! Prof Legge is very nice and helpful. His lectures are great, he explains very well, makes funny but pertinent jokes and posts videos to help you understand. His tests are fairly easy and based mostly on the slides and notes.
Great prof, makes lots of resources available to us, easy participation marks, and very accessible. His tests are multiple choice only which is a relief for poor writers. His notes are very detailed (everything yu need, but makes class mr boring because he just reads them. 5/5. Take psych with eric.
Very straightforward and genuine. Attend class for participation marks and re-read powerpoint slides for exams.
Kind, helpful, smart, and great at his job. More should be like him.
I really enjoyed this class with Dr.Legge. He's a really funny guy, and his tests are quite straightforward. Very prompt replying to emails too. Tophat was a bit of a pain to buy, but it's actually quite a bit better than iclicker.
What a great guy! Eric is new to teaching, just finished his PhD, so he's super enthusiastic and helpful. Has some opportunities for participation marks in class. His notes are very detailed and his tests are very straightforward. He's made my interest in psychology increase with his class! Definitely take any course you can with him.
Legge has easily become one of my favorite professors so far. He's very funny and incredibly helpful! Tells you almost exactly what's going to be on the exam and provides very easy exams. Notes are very clear and easy to understand. I would not hesitate to take another class with him!
He is a fantastic teacher and his tests are beyond fair! Highly suggest to everyone!
Really great prof, easy exams and helpful. I wasn't sure what to expect from the night class but he made it interesting. Must attend class and take notes as he mostly tests on his notes. It's kinda ridiculous how he makes you buy the Top Hat and the Cog labs. 2 midterms worth 20%, 10% for top hat and 10% for coglabs, and a final worth 40%.
Eric is an amazing prof. I was really intimidated by this course at first... spatial cognition. But he made the material approachable and easy to understand. He genuinely wants you to do well and gives you every opportunity to do so (help with the term paper & presentation, and a lot of exam hints!). Bonus, no text or readings... just go to class!
Great prof. Funny, easy going, great teaching method. Doesn't require you to do a ton of reading. Lectures were interesting. Best prof I've had at the U of A
I highly recommend Eric to everyone taking a psychology course at the U of A! He is a great prof, his tests are really easy, and he keeps the material simple and explains things great. One of the best profs I've had so far!
One of the best profs I've ever had. Class of 160 but made an effort to know you individually. Would go the extra nine yards for you. Course content is great, and he taught it in an engaging, funny way. Not like sitting in a boring lecture, you learned but you also had fun. Tests were simple if you studied. RECOMMEND.
Great prof, Interesting, helpful, and kind. I actually learned a lot in his class and the exams were very fair. I wish more profs were like Eric.
Just take a class with the man. He is humble and a genuinely good guy. Add the class into a hard semester, to help relieve the load.
amaze balls. this is how psych profs should be. he is super friendly and endearing. his tests are straight forward and never try to trick you. uses top hat so participation is 10% take ERIC!!!
Dr. Legge is one of the best teachers I've had in my entire life. Not only does he type out all of the notes for you, but he also goes the extra mile by providing tons of interesting videos, both in class and on eclass. A very caring, and great prof. I never give a prof a rating on here, but Eric was such a surreal prof I just had to!
Best prof I've had at the U of A. Highly Recommended.
Very detailed notes. You can do pretty well on the notes alone, but you should read the text if you want to do extra well. His exam questions are relatively easy, and what's best is that it's not curved. I would recommend him. Take his course if you want a mark booster. Very nice and firendly. Exam questions can be sometimes hilarious.
Eric was an amazing teacher, he was easy going, fun to listen to, and he knew his things. Class was not mandatory but I found myself going to all his classes. Also exams (2 mid, 1 final) was extremely easy as long as you read his notes. There's like 1 question from the text/mid,final. Strongly recommend him! Wish he taught other classes. Best Prof!
I took his Spatial Cognition course and it was great. I was not happy when I found out that 30% of the mark is an essay, and another 30% is a presentation. But I ended up learning a lot and got a good mark. Good proff, interesting class. Very happy with this course.
Funny Good at what he teaches even if its boring. Glad he puts everything on notes for studying and makes Tophat questions easy if you pay attention, no trick questions. But he talks very fast, and its hard to listen to him explain something when your trying to write stuff down at the same time. Never use textbook.
This prof is a boring lecturer and reads straight off the notes. His tests are relatively straight forward but he puts random questions that are not in the lecture notes or textbook. Frustrating when you study hard to get a good mark. Otherwise fairly good.
Makes the lectures as interesting as possible, with some quirky jokes in here and there. Tests were fair and followed the notes. Lectures themselves are boring as he basically reads the powerpoints to you and puts things in different terms to explain them. Does online questions during class for participation marks but they aren't worth much
Eric is a great and knowledge prof in Psychology. The exams are easy if you study, and there is easy credit because of the psych lab component and tophat questions. He is friendly, and is always willing to help. It's an easy class for credit, you just need to know your stuff.
GREAT PROF I RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE
Very good Professor. His tests are easy if you study for them. You can tell he wants his students to do well. Participation matters to get an extra easy 10%.
Great guy! Was hilarious. The only negative comment I could possibly say is that we were behind in the course, and rushed an entire topic at the end. But just had to read the notes and textbook, not a big deal. His power-point notes are a little wordy, but very good and extensive. Recommend!
Overall Legge is a good prof. Easy midterms (if you study his notes and some textbook) and easy tophat marks and Reasearch Participation. Only down side is that we had to rush through a big chapter of Social Psych at the end because we were very behind. Final wasn't as easy as the midterm and includes all material from the whole semester so study!
Fantastic teacher. Makes everything in this course so interesting and is there for you to help explain concepts that you don't understand. His lectures are great, his tests are on the easy side, so you can get a high mark if you work hard! I would definitely recommend him, I hope I get to take another course with him! Plus he's so nice!
Seems like a good guy, responds to emails and responds to students on forums frequently. Also has a good sense of humour to keep class fresh. Slides had a lot of text but they were very good. Exams are mostly from his notes with 5 questions from the textbook out of 50 questions. Exams are pretty easy as advertised here (class average is 80%).
A is definitely obtainable if you attend lectures and read the textbook. Tests are fair, and grading is not on a curve so if you know the textbook material you can get A or A+. Very interesting material, and textbook is not boring to read, but if you don't read the textbook it is not a large portion of the tests, mainly just in class notes.
He is very clear when explaining concepts and he provides a lot of real-world examples that apply to the course to augment understanding. He is also very clear on what to expect for the paper, the midterms and finals. The textbook is a must if you want to get an A. That being said, if you put in the work he makes it very easy to get a good grade.
Eric is a great prof. He's really funny and engaging. Exams are really easy. A few questions are from the TB but other than that you don't need it. Lots of participant marks, 20%. Easy A. Would def take another class.
Very easy tests, but make sure you read the text if you really want to do well. Gives easy participation grades and requires a short but simple term paper. Goes over material very slowly though and may rush more towards the end. Overall, interesting professor and an easy A.
Make sure you get Dr. Legge for Psychology 105! He is absolutely amazing and his lectures are fun; he always goes above and beyond to make sure everybody understands the material. Tests are easy as long as you read the notes and textbook.
Honestly such a great prof! Bombed the first midterm but did really good on the 2nd one and the final. Most of the questions come from his notes but if you're aiming high you need to read the textbook! Also had a term paper for the class that was basically free marks. Really nice guy too!
Really fun and enjoyable lectures. Midterms were easy if you read the notes and skim the textbook and care alittle. GPA raiser for sure.
Eric was a terrific prof. I've been on the hunt to take more classes with him, but he doesn't seem to be teaching at the UofA lately. I had friends complain about Psych258 and how difficult the course was - after taking it with Eric - I didn't know what they were talking about. Easy peasy! He even let me do extra credit work to boost my grade!
Just completing my first year at the UofA and I've had some pretty amazing profs but Eric was by far the best. Lectures were interesting and I loved going. Even if they were on Wednesday nights. Lectures are beneficial since he really explains the concepts so well. 1010 would recommend
AWESOME PROF. Gave questions in class that would be on the mid term. Didn't trick you, helped whenever you asked for it and remembers names.
Honestly the class material is pretty easy if you just read the textbook. You don't have to and can pull a B no problem. He's pretty entertaining, funny at times, and the tests are a complete joke. He asks you what his last name is twice, once on first midterm and on the final.
All around great guy. Would run into him in the hallways and he would make an effort to talk for a bit. His was a night class and there was another during the day, so I went to both first lectures to see who I liked better and he was absolutely amazing. He's hilarious and genuinely wants to make sure everyone does well. One of my favourite profs.
Cute Newfie accent
By far one of the best profs I've had. His notes are clear and follow the textbook quite well. He uploads his lectures online but uses Top Hat so attending lectures is a must if you want points for participation. His tests are all multiple choice and are very straight forward. There was a course paper but he is a fair and reasonable marker.
He is amazing. He doesn't trick you in exams and he has one paper for you which is marked super easily. Take him! His exam has a couple of questions, like keywordsdefinitions, from the textbook but the rest is purely off his notes
Hands down favorite prof during all four years at the u of a.
Good prof overall, had him for night class and it was great. If you consider taking a night class take pysch 104.
Honestly found him as an average prof. I have had worse profs and better profs. I had high expectations because of these reviews and I was kind of disappointed. He didn't cover a chapter in class because he ran out of time. So we had to learn a chapter in a week for our final plus review all the other material. I really didn't appreciate that.
most amazing prof ever! had him for 104 & 282 & hoping to take more classes with him in the future. exams are MC (2 Midterms, 1 Final), extremely fair. 104 had 10% of research participation & 282 had a 15% course project. he gives good examples to make sure you remember the material
The best prof I've ever had during all my years at university. Sometimes I look through beartracks to find any more courses he may be teaching. Very helpful, tests are straightforward, and overall great prof and a great guy.
Eric is a wonderful professor! Lectures are clear and engaging, and the text follows the content nicely which makes for easy studying. Exams are a bit of a challenge, but fairly easy overall. The content of this course is great, and Eric keeps everyone interested in the practical uses of the material.
He is the best prof i've had in uni. So approachable and helpful. Also, his exams are very fair. Do yourself a favour and take his class!! WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO EVERYBODY!!!
Dr. Legge was one of my favourite professors this semester! He's very helpful and his lectures are very clear. Also, he's a pretty funny and caring guy. Taking Psychology 104 with him was definitely a GPA booster (although the course content was a little boring).
Had him for a night class, he was the average prof. Don't bother emailing him as he takes a while to get back to you, go see him during his office hours if you need it. The material isn't hard, but there is a lot you have to know and we didn't even finish the course on time. We had to finish the course by reading the textbook. Overall 6/10.
Took this as a night class but he made the 3 hours fun. His lectures are decent (for it being a long night class) and he gives lots of relatable examples. You DEFINITELY need the textbook, a lot from the exam is pulled from there. There is one paper, criteria is clear, so its not too hard.
Similar to the previous rater, I am one of the unfortunate students too who's in that evening class who will suffer from that GPA cutoff adjustment. I thought he was a good prof but I was wrong... Worst prof I have ever had
He was the best prof ever, his exams were very fair; the averages were super high (85-87 before final)! Cutoffs adjusted slightly upwards but he indicated that might be the case in his syllabus and at the beginning of the term so it was no surprise. Please, Eric, teach more Psych courses!
Stay away for a freaking a- is 89% before coming to the final, thought i was doing excellent in this class but a freaking a- is now 89. a nice prof nonetheless, helpful when asked for help, at least from september until today when he decided that a freaking a- is 89
Honestly I blame the Dean, not Eric.
he was the one who made the final, therefore it's his fault that his exam was deemed "too easy" by the dean. ridiculous! I love all of my psych profs they're usually the best but not eric. sorry :( he's helpful though when you email him for questions but eric why break my heart why?
he's an amazing prof. we should be blaming the dean!
Dr. Legge created the final exam questions so I would like to blame him for this stupid GPA cutoff adjustment that was the result of his exam questions that happened to be too "easy" Or could it be that this class was just really full of smart people. Whatever I still blame the prof for this. Me no like you
What if someone was aiming for an A-, and worked for that 86%, which is a B+ now. It is really unfair to let the class know AFTER the exam. AFTER there is nothing we can do to improve our mark... How is that fair in any sense. If we knew before the exam, maybe it wouldn't be such a big deal but a week after we wrote our final... makes no sense
Whoever it is you would like to blame, either the dean or Eric, I highly advice students to RUN AWAY, ESCAPE WHILE YOU STILL CAN and AVOID his class as there are chances that this (GPA adjustment) may happen to you and you wouldn't really like it . In other words, stay away.
Eric was a good prof and all, however I felt that the marking of the course paper was a little unfair for a 100-level class. I got an A+ on all the exams, but I only BARELY passed the paper... the criteria was way too difficult for a first year class in my opinion. I mean, come on... most people are new to APA citations...
Really awesome prof ! It was unfortunate that he had to adjust grade cutoffs but that was just department policy. Nonetheless, that should not take away from his excellent teaching. He is an extremely helpful professor if you ever have any questions. I would highly recommend him!!Ps. I highly doubt grade adjustments will be an issue in the future.
He is so nice. It's sad he's getting backlash for something that isn't his fault. I also didn't benefit from the grade cutoff, I would have had a higher letter grade but I dont blame him at all. BEST PROF EVER. I wish I get him for future classes as well.
I am quite disappointed with the grade cut off, however Eric Legge does not deserve the backlash he is getting. He is still an exceptional prof. If the skewness worked the other way where the class average was say 40% and everyone's marks got raise, people wouldnt be complaining like this. Its just department policies. I'd still recommend Legge.
Unfortunate grade cut-off due to high scores on final exam but this was a great class. 2 non-cumulative midterms, one easy DIY project and cumulative final. Exams are multiple choice, and very straightforward. His notes can be long and confusing, so just read the textbook and make your own.
Professor Legge is evidently passionate about psychology and cares about his student's success. He is "crystal clear" in terms of the midterm and final however his course paper was marked beyond the scope of the rubric. Not a particularly difficult class however, I did not find it to be an easy-A.
Eric was a great prof - a really helpful, kind, and interesting guy. It's unfortunate that he made his exams too easy and was therefore forced to adjust his grade cutoffs. I'm sure he's learned from this and it's unlikely to happen again. He's still a great prof and I still recommend him. Read the textbook and you'll be just fine.
He has good lectures, made night class interesting. Need to take notes on top of his powerpoints but if you attend class and read the textbook the tests are pretty easy. noncumulative midterms and a cumulative final. All multiple choice and fact based so it's not that hard.
Eric is a super nice guy, night classes were long but class was pretty easy. Read the textbook to do well but as long as you read the notes and the text you should be fine. pretty easy class and solid prof. When I had trouble with my paper mark eric was really nice about helping me out.
Eric was a good lecturer, who used lots of jokes and examples. I thought 3 midterms was crazy. I've never had a prof (and I'm in 3rd yr) test the names of researchers who developed concepts or conducted research. I've also never been tested on one of the "further reading" boxes in any textbook. He did both, and my grade suffered as a result.
His lectures are very funny and interesting and he's definitely one of my favorite profs! There are 3 non-cumulative midterms that all require reading the textbook. As long as you read the textbook (tests on researchers) your guarenteed an easy A b/c then the questions are relatively simple to answer!! Would take a course with him again.
Hilarious prof, made lectures so entertaining. Eric is such a down to earth guy and was clearly passionate when asking him questions after class.
One of the chillest and nicest profs I've had! Was always there to answer any questions after class and always did so in such a cheerful way. Tests are really not that bad, just a lot of material from the textbook that you wouldn't expect.
Really interesting lectures. Just make sure to read the textbook to do well on exams because some small details from it are tested, but overall it was an easy course. Definitely would look into other classes he is teaching for future psych courses.
Legge was a good prof. As long as you are good at memorizing all of the material from his notes you will do good. There are 3 midterms and a final. The research participation is a grade booster. Overall great class!
Aw, Eric! He's impossible not to love. Really engaging lectures, and honestly, just such a likeable guy. He's cheerful and eager to answer any questions. Great prof.
Really great prof, kind and willing to answer any questions. Lecture slides and his explanations made everything easy to learn. 3 midterms and a final which weren't very difficult, only thing about them is they contain some questions specific to how the textbook describes certain concepts. Enjoyable class and quite entertaining, highly recommended
I like that Eric is very thorough in explaining concepts. He makes the content really easy to understand. Definitely read the textbook, and definitely read the questions carefully, because in reviewing our midterms most people got questions wrong because the wording tripped them up.
Gives examples in class that explains the concepts very well so going to class will help. The lectures can be boring, though, but this could be because I took this course in the summer and it was a 3 hour night class. If you don't go to class, the textbook does help but theres alot of detail that he may test. He was also a veeeeery slow marker.
3 Midterms, easy to come back from a bad mark. Need to study to pass, He gives you practice exams which are very helpful. All around great teacher (knows that the topic is a little dry in places) Always cracks jokes to lighten the mood. Available outside of class
He is absolutely hilarious and his class is interesting and engaging. His lectures came pretty much straight from the textbook so if you have it you're golden. Powerpoints are also good and they get posted online. Would recommend for an easy and enjoyable science credit.
Took his animal companion class and you can tell that's he very passionate about the subject. The course consisted of a midterm, final, group presentation and paper. He gives you many chances to do well in the class so take advantage of that! His exams aren't hard at all either - thought I did poorly on the final but actually got 94%!
Eric is unreal. He made a 9am lecture something to look forward to. His humour and examples make his class incredible. Attendance is mandatory as he will test on spoken examples not in text or powerpoint. Will not disappoint.
He is great and hilarious professor. HIs exams are little tricky as you have to know very specific details from the textbook, but, overall, his teaching styles do not make you bored with interesting facts, videos, and funny jokes. Highly recommended!
Eric is a great prof, his lectures are clear and pretty intriguing from him trying to make the content entertaining. Never went to class after a few weeks and just studied from the textbook just read and memorize and you'll do good. Just make sure to skim over his powerpoints bc he does test on some things in there that are not in the textbook.
He's at MacEwan, not UofA, regardless this is my second class with him and I have enjoyed him for his companion animal as well as cognitive psych. His expectations are clear and he sets you up for an effective learning environment. He's not super easy A but I don't always respect profs for that. He is willing to help you get an A if you do the work
Pretty easy tests, just study from the powerpoint slides. Nice guy and pretty chill. His lectures are pretty entertaining too.
Not that amazing prof, Just over-hyped by his easy tests.
Prof Legge was fun and made the lectures engaging with his teachings. His tests were fair and he was easily accessible for any questions
